Open Question: Help please i have a virus !?

I was on my computer to do homework, and eventually finish. I left the room to do my other homework as the computer went to "sleep mode" then 5 min later i heard a *Thiang Thiang* sound like if the computer had an error. Suddenly i saw a pop up showing "Do you allow this program" and i pressed NO but it kept spamming so i had no choice but to shut down pressing the button in the hard drive. I turned the computer on and did a virus scan by using Malwarebyte antivirus, Avast, and Anti Spywarebyte and found tons of virus. I'm just curious whether you do system restore or do you let the antivirus kill it (btw im using "free version" of antivirus so i dunno if it going to kill all of it. Its just stupid that my computer is in sleep mode and few min later i get a virus -_- Anyways please help! Thanks and i'll appreciate it! more

I am experiencing a weird problem.Till a few days back i was using AVAST antivirus in my system.Owing to some problems, i decided to uninstall it and go for Kaspersky anti virus.I uninstall ed AVAST and downloaded free version of Kaspersky in my system...The problem is that when i am running the software to install it in my system,the software installation process is not getting completed....(the dialogue box that guides through the installation process disappears midway and no shortcut icon is crated in the desktop) .Having tried to install kaspersky for a few times, i decided to give up and try Quickheal...However the same problem continued....Now i am running my system without any anti virus.Can somebody tell what is the problem and how to solve it out.... more

Open Question: Why do my downloads keep disappearing?

I had several viruses such as Anti malware Doctor and Security Suite on my computer, but I believe I got rid of them. But now every time I download something on Firefox, it downloads but then automatically disappears from my download folder. I specified the download address, it did not help. I enabled Firefox to remember my download log and that didn't help either. When I right click on the downloaded file in my download log, it's not even an option to go to it's folder. If it is a virus causing this, how can I get rid of it. MBAB did not even detect it, AVG didn't work. Neither did avast, and multiple rootkit checkers and countless anti-virus programs. I can't seem to delete this virus if there even still is one. I've run the computer in safe mode and ran AV programs, and I even did a system restore to a previous point, nothing works. In short, the only negative aspect of my computer still is that I can't download anything, and I want to know how to fix it. more

Are there any good, free malware/anti virus sites out there and if so which ones have you used?I have avast on it now, and had a one year thing for McAfee that came with the computer,its run out now though. Basically, I've been running Spyware Doctor for a while. Now it won't let me run a program of mine and it slows down the computer boot. It's also a bit of a resource hog. Otherwise, great software. However, I'm considering at least trying some new software for anti-virus and anti-spyware. Please only answer this if you know. My question: what security setup do you think works best? AVG? I don't see it running anymore but the security center says its still on my computer. I have ran malware bytes, microsoft essentials, avast, and windows live one care safety scanner and they haven't found no traces. When I click on the anti virus button in security center it says my security shield says its up to date and running.I am not really sure if I still have it because it doesn't run anymore. It was a fake anti viurs called My Security Shield. When I ran all of the scans I removed everything they found but in the windows xp security center it says My security sheld reports it is running and up to date. It just cuts off completely, it will allows me to switch on and log in, then it just switches off. If you have a remedy to suggest could you explain as though it were to a young child? I'm rubbish with computers. Is this little laptop safe on a wireless connection with my pc? Can they get to you through your ip address or just the piece of equipment? The first time it allowed me to start malware, froze on spybot and wouldn't let me start avast or avg. I recently removed Norton because the free anti virus I tested said my machine had around a dozen viruses (Which were removed) I've only been on around 6 or 8 trusted sites since then. I've switched my computer off and dare not switch it on again..Ed, I downloaded avast and avg from a trusted site about 6 weeks ago, I haven't had a problem with it. Hi guys, I have installed Avast 2.0.418 Free Anti virus, on the beginning it was working fine, automatic virus definition was updating (the time interval was set on more than 200 minutes, but I know that it must be set on the shortest time possible, so I changed it on 1 minute. But now, I don't know why, it according to its info the last update attempt was on 15.08.2010. I am using Microsoft Windows XP professional Servise Pack 2 Windows Firewall * Avast is not listed in the Exceptions. My internet is broadband connection and my browsers Mozilla Firefox and IE8 are working without a problem considering the internet connection. And now, the problem is that the Engine and Virus Definitions cannot regularly update.It writes: From Steps 1/2 of the updating process, when is Step 1 "Initiating, please wait" > "Downloading file: servers.def.vpx" > "Cannot connect to downloadavast...*an IP adress" The update settings are: Proxy settings : Auto detect (use Internet Explorer settings) I have ran a Full scan in safe mode with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and the result was :Infected objects: 0" Please help me, I don't know what is the problem.I certainly would like the latest version but for now I can only allow myself a Free Version. Every now and then when i open a program (windows.exe i think ) it would usually freeze, than restart and my theme would change to an old version. Like im using windows Vista 32-bit and i think when it changes, it goes to Classic. And every now and then there would be a Blue screen, but it restarts and starts working again. Ive gone through safemode and ran 3 Anti-virus's -Malware bytes -avast antivirus -AVG Ive also used CCleaner to fix my registrys and clean out unused..trash. but still havent fixed the problem Any recommendations? more

I am dealing with a strange trojan/virus/malware/adware type of problem. There is a program on my computer that I cannot see but very clearly hear running. It actually sounds like a browser is constantly visiting pages online and frequently playing ads. None of my anti-malware programs can detect it, If they do find anything it just says "hidden process/trojan removed," and it starts all over in five minutes Other than being a nuisance it isn't causing any damage to my computer. Obviously I've scanned in safe mode and run a boot-scan, still nothing. I have tried many different programs like Avast! Malwarebytes, IObit and I even paid for Norton, with few results. I've been to many sites with lists of possibilities and ratings of removal software, none of that helped. hopefully someone who has seen/fixed this problem before can offer some better advice. I really don't wan't to have to wipe my hard drive but I sewar if i hear one more Lysol commercial I'm gonna blow this thing up. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.Sorry I forgot, I'm using 32bit WinXP Service Pack 3 on a Dell, if that makes any difference. Hey, i have a virus, basically what it does is, closes exe files, doesn't let me go on the internet, i can't open any programme because the virus closes it straight away, puts up random adult sites, trys to sell me an anti-virus and links me to the page. could somebody with knowledge of Laptops please help! I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop with Windows XP and lately it has been running extremely slow, and a few days ago it kept shutting itself down.
