Anti Microsoft Virus Window Questions asked

Open Question: HELP PLEASE. My computer wont open anything directly..?

I know a lot about computers and programs so I know it isn't something simple. My computer windows vista 32 bit will not open any programs directly. and what I mean is that when I go to open any program it gives me the option cannot find file or it will either give me search web or search a list of installed programs. Such as I can not open Microsoft word but if i open a Microsoft word document it will open word then.. and it wont let me system restore, it comes up with cant find the system restore tool. Also it won't let me scan my computer with my anti virus. I can still look through my files though. Please help ASAP.No need to be an asshole? and I don't want to restore my computer entirely. Also, I tried that still same problem and I know I have a virus I'm asking if anyone knows anyways to fix it. Really though learn to be more personable. more

Open Question: How can I get my computer to confirm things before installing, it did before but not anymore?? PLEASE READ!?

Well I have a laptop with Windows Vista on it.. and It used to (when I first got it) ask to confirm downloads, new things, etc by darkening the screen and then a box would pop up and ask that I want to or not want to do that thing like downloading stuff. I liked that because I am stupid and I accidently down load things but my cousin was installing some software we bought for it (anti virus, microsoft office, ect) and he said he disabled it. how do I get that back ?? thankss!!!!! more

Open Question: My computer keeps logging off at start up.?

At first, I had a virus (the fake anti spyware virus that automatically downloads itself into your computer). I tried to remove that using Malware Bytes. I had successfully removed the virus, but did not manage to fix my other problem that came along with it: I couldn't open my .exe files without having to choose a program to open it with (in some cases, I couldn't even open it at all). Resorting to google, I tried this, in hopes that it would fix my issue: "1. Run Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del or right click on Taskbar) 2. Stop wscript.exe process if available by highlighting the process name and clicking End Process. 3. Then terminate explorer.exe process. 4. In Task Manager, click on File -> New Task (Run…). 5. Type “cmd” (without quotes) into the Open text box and click OK. 6. Type the following command one by one followed by hitting Enter key: del c:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a del d:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a del e:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a c, d, e each represents drive letters on Windows system. If there are more drives or partitions available, continue to command by altering to other drive letter. Note that you must also clean the autorun files from USB flash drive or portable hard disk as the external drive may also be infected. 7. In Task Manager, click on File -> New Task (Run…). 8. Type “regedit” (without quotes) into the Open text box and click OK. 9. Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon 10. Check if the value name and value data for the key is correct (the value data of userint.exe include the path which may be different than C drive, which is also valid, note also the comma which is also needed): “Userinit”=”C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,” If the value is incorrent, modify it to the valid value data " After doing the " del c:\autorun.* /f /s /q /a " it deleted a few things in the registry. Being unsure of whether or not I had fixed my problem, I turned off my computer and restarted it. Now, my issue is that when my computer turns on, it just automatically turns off. Is there any other way to fix this, or do I have to reformat my computer.. once again? If I have to resort to reformatting, is there any possible ways to somehow save my programs and transfer it to a different hard drive or something? Thanks.I've tried starting it up as you said in: - Safe Mode - Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked) Both didn't work for me, however the "last known good configuration" got me as far up to my wallpaper (and nothing else) before the hourglass popped up and kicked me out. Is there anything else to do, or am I just doing this wrong? more

Open Question: Is there anyway to download the system restore files for Windows XP?

Hi guys I currently running windows XP and recently got infected with XP anti spyware. I ran microsoft security essentials which got rid of it but it also looks like it (or the virus) has damaged most of the files on the computer. Now when I go to use system restore I get the file not found message and am unable to restore. I no longer have the XP installation disc as a bough the computer several years ago, is there anyway of downloading the files i need off of the internet? Secondly i was thinking of upgrading to windows 7 anyway so would purchasing and installing that wipe all out XP meaning that the any problems i've had would get cleared that way. Would buying windows 7 and starting from scratch be a better idea? more

Open Question: (10 pts. & best answer) Please help me about this explorer.exe file something?

I have my win xp installed in my computer then I scan my kaspersky anti-virus. After scanned my computer kaspersky found a trojan in windows shell or something, and I delete it. After that I shut down my computer and reopen it, so the big problem is my taskbar and desktop icon are missing only desktop in there. I tried to used ctrl + alt +delete and run the regedit and I could not find the "HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/Current Version/Image File Execution Options/explorer.exe" I need this explorer.exe or iexplorer.exe to delete the debugger, because according of what I searched I need to delete the debugger to restore my desktop icons and I know that this will work. But how I could resolve this problem if my explorer.exe could not found in regedit. help me please. I very appreciate it. Thank you. more

Open Question: Problem with Acer 6530G?

So I got this Acer 6530G laptop in july last year, back then it ran smooth and I had no glitches, about 1 month later it started running slow when I downloaded some new anti virus software for it, so I reset it to before I installed it and it ran smooth again, but recently I turned it on, after installing an anti-virus software and it couldn't even run you tube smoothly it was all choppy and the speakers crackled and when i tried to play a game like WoW it just broke down with 1-3 fps which sucks. I think this computer can DEFINATELY handle it, I scanned the computer, disk cleanup, defrag nothing happened so I thought it might've been the anti virus, I reset to before I installed it but it stayed the same, Help! Voting Question: Anti-virus Vista 2010 virus?

This is really frustrating! So, out of no where, these pop-ups from antivirus vista 2010 came up, saying I had something like 29 infections, I got suspicious - because there is no way that I would have 29 infections - looked it up and found that the antivirus vista 2010 thing was a virus. I wanted to download malwarebytes to get rid of it, but it wouldn't download. So, I installed windows security essentials and it looked like everything was great. I ran the scan and the pop-ups went away. BUT, then my friend told me that I couldn't have two antivirus scanners on at the same time - I had scanned my computer twice with avira and it said it didn't find anything! - so I uninstalled avira. Well, my computer out of no where decided to restart and when it came back up I couldn't open anything. If I were to click on the link to google chrome or microsoft office or something, it wouldn't open - it would have this thing saying "open google chrome with -" and it had a list for me to choose what I should open it with. And everything is like that - I can't open one single thing (I'm on another computer btw in case you were wondering how I couldn't open anything on my computer and yet I was on yahoo answers!)! Was this the virus? Was this uninstalling avira? What happened and how do I fix my computer!!! more

Resolved Question: Users of MSE/Microsoft Security Essentials. What are pros & cons of this free anti-virus?

I need feedback for those who know of personal experiences. I have read all of the on-line reviews. That's why I'm seeking opinions from actual users. I know there are better AV for pay, but how does MSE compare. I have used both Norton 360 & Windows Defender on my Windows Vista. I've never gotten a virus with either. Would like to know Sr. Cit. opinions who may ave tried many AV services over years on-line. Not looking for info. on other AV products as I have already researched those. Please help me report SPAM answers as soon as they appear so that I can read & chose "Best Answer" @ close of question.Important: LOOKING FOR CURRENT USERS ONLY.And former MSE users & why they stopped using product. After 6 answers, I have read the links & the links on the links. There was one where I could not pull up the main story no matter where I clicked so all I could do was read the reviews about the story. All on-line user comments have been positive for MSE so I down loaded it. -- I have the 1st bad review. It disables Window's Defender (I knew it would), but it does not replace the old option to control start up programs. -- Many reviews said 1st scan was quick. I deliberately chose the full can & that took over an hour, not 5 min. as I'd read but, in fairness, I changed the quick scan default. -- It does not offer one of the main things I liked about Norton which is the search result ratings of "green for safe" & "red for known threats" on the links. -- MSE says you can right click to scan anything (as Norton did) but it did not give the option on everything I right clicked on. -- Perhaps my complaints are from being used to another AV (Norton) as my 1st & only AV protection. It does not come w/ a firewall. I thought that was part of an AV but was wrong. My "Best Answer" lead me to learn about this feature which in turn lead me to a test site to see how protected I was. (www.grc.com) I passed as being "invisible" on line but the main source of that is my ISP. What a shock that they are my best first defense. more

Resolved Question: Bad computer virus kickback help please?

ok im good with computer but not genius with em. awhile ago (2weeks ago) i had a bad computer virus on my computer, when (after 3 days after noticing it) i got it off and restarted my computer, this weird thing happened. every time i try to open ANYTHING (from a icon on my desktop to stuff in the control panel to the volume control in my toolbar), it pops up with the window saying "what program would you like to open this with?", ugh, i can't fiugre out how to get rid of it and something n like to uninstall stuff in my control panel, i can't get to open cause i have no program to open it with, PLEASE HELP!, btw the virus was this thing that always popped up saying "you have 100 virus, starts a fake scan video of microsoft security 10", and every time i try to run a real anti-virus, it shut down and opened up the fake microsoft 10 security. i eventually went into safe mode, disabled all programs, went ghost mode off a flash drive, hooked up my lap top as a slave drive, and ran malware byte's anti-malware and virus to fix it.how can i go about reinstalling windows without deleting stuff? i have 98gb of music on here from burning cd's for 2weeks :( more

Resolved Question: Why does my PC freeze up every time I load Yahoo! Answers?

My PC runs just fine and is plenty fast at loading pages on IE8 and I can even open 4 or 5 instances of IE8 at the same time, to compare info of different reviews or sales items from different sites. Plus, I can have Microsoft Word running also to cut and paste the info I need from these sites in one convent place. That is, until I open Yahoo! Answers! The second I load this site, the PC almost stops running. Typing is a real pain, because of all the freeze ups at every 2nd or 3rd letter. Plus every 3rd or 4th day my virus scanner keeps shutting it down as a potentially dangers site. I run AVG Anti-Virus version 9.0.733 on the PC for protection. I am often forced to use Windows Task Manager to shut down the pages and start over. more

Resolved Question: HOW TO REPAIR HIJACKED RANSOMWARE TRUSTEER(?) VIRUS(?) PROBLEM?

MAIN SYMPTOMS OF LEEORAH COMPUTER PROBLEM AS OF FEB 27 2010 SATURDAY FOR ABOUT A WEEK PRIOR, A NEW WINDOW WOULD INTERMITTENTLY POPUP IN FIREFOX (UPDATED AUTOMATICALLY TO LATEST VERSION ALWAYS) TO AN AD SITE – SEEMINGLY HIJACKED. WHAT COMES UP IS “THE TELEVISION CATALOG” WITH A SUBSET OF THE SEARCH TERM INSERTED INTO “THE TELEVISION CATALOG” SEARCH BOX, THEN SHOWING THEIR ADVERTISER LINKS. FOR SEVERAL DAYS PRIOR, A YAHOO WEB SEARCH HIT WOULD BE MISDIRECTED TO AN INCORRECT SITE WHEN CLICKED ON --- DOESN'T HAPPEN WITH GOOGLE --- THERE IS SOME KIND OF GOOGXXX? DRIVER RUNNING IN THE PROCESS LIST. ON FEB 27 2010: A WINDOWS WARNING MESSAGE CAME UP ON THE LOWER RIGHT SIDE OF THE XP DESKTOP WARNING OF A MALWARE INTRUSION, ASKING FOR THE OWNER TO REGISTER WITH MICROSOFT FOR THE FIX --- THIS WARNING MESSAGE KEPT ON COMING UP CONSTANTLY NORTON 360 – THE FULLY PAID FOR VERSION WITH UPDATES --- DID NOT DETECT ANY MALWARE OR PROBLEM RUNNING WITH A FULL COMPREHENSIVE UPDATE AND SCAN THE COMPUTER HAD TO BE UNPLUGGED TO GET RID OF THE MICROSOFT WARNING, AFTER WHICH SHORTCUTS AND PROGRAMS WOULD NO LONGER RUN – INCLUDING ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS THE LATEST PROGRAMS USED LIST SHOWS THAT “RAPPORT CONSOLE” SOMEHOW RAN ITSELF – THIS PROGRAM IS UNKNOWN THE PROCESS LIST (CTRL-ALT-DEL) IN THE XP CONTROL BOX SHOWS THAT THERE ARE TWO PROGRAMS WITH “RAPPORTXXX” NAMES. WHEN WE TRY TO SHUT THESE DOWN MANUALLY FROM THE PROCESS LIST, THEY DO NOT SHUT DOWN --- UNUSUAL --- AND SIMILAR TO THE ALLEGED ZONEALARM SABOTAGE SYMPTOM, WHEN THE ZONEALARM USER DOESN'T RENEW THE PAID-FOR SUBSCRIPTION. ZA OWNERS HAVE TO WIPE OUT THE HARD DRIVE TO FIX THEIR PROBLEMS. THE TWO (NON-ENDABLE) RAPPORT PROCESSES RUNNING ARE: RAPPORTSERVICE.EXE RAPPORTMGMTSERVICE.EXE A “THE OPERATION COULD NOT BE COMPLETED” ERROR MESSAGE BOX APPEARS WHEN AN ATTEMPT TO END EITHER OF THESE RAPPORT PROGRAMS IS MADE. A SECOND DIALOG BOX SHOWS UP STATING: “ACCESS IS DENIED” CPU USAGE SHOWS THAT THESE TWO RAPPORT PROGRAMS RUNS 1-2% EVERY SECOND WHEREAS THE OTHER PROCESSES ARE AT 0% WHEN NO PROGRAM IS BEING USED. [ONLY SYSTEM, nvsvc32.exe , svchost.exe AND SYSTEM IDLE PROCESSES ARE SHOWING CPU USAGE, BESIDE THE RAPPORT PROGRAMS.] USING THE MOUSE OVER TO THE LAST PROGRAMS ACCESSED, WE CAN SEE THAT THE “RAPPORT CONSOLE” APPEARS UNDER THE “TRUSTEER” GROUP PROGRAMS. THE “TRUSTEER” IS SOFTWARE THAT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF NOT MANDATED BY BANKS' ONLINE BANKING. IT IS supposed TO PROTECT THE ONLINE BANK USER. “TRUSTEER” RUNS LIKE A VIRUS CHECKER, ISSUING DAILY REPORT THAT SHOW TRACKING COOKIES BEING DELETED. USING GOOGLE, THE “RAPPORT CONSOLE” AND “TRUSTEER” ARE ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN CREATIONS OF ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND AND ARE LINKED TO ALLEGED BANKERS AND/OR CENTRAL BANKERS (PERHAPS SOMEONE SHOULD TELL ALEX JONES OF INFOWARS.) THE COMPUTER NOW BOOTS UP WITHOUT THE USUAL CADERIE OF START UP PROGRAMS SUCH AS NORTON ANTI-VIRUS SUITE SHOWING ON THE LOWER RIGHT TASK BAR. WE CANNOT BRING UP ANY SOFTWARE FROM THE PROGRAMS LIST EITHER -- WINDOWS WORD WILL RUN, BUT ONLY IF A WORD DOCUMENT IS CLICKED ON. WHEN THE MOZILLA FIREFOX ICON IS CLICKED, AN “OPEN WITH” DIALOG BOX OPENS, REQUIRING MANUAL SELECTION – WHEN THE RECOMMENDED PROGRAM IS CLICKED ON, AN ERROR MESSAGE COMES UP, APPLICATION NOT FOUND: JAVA\....JQSNOTIFY.EXE --– FIREFOX SHOWS AN INITIAL WEIRD DIALOG BOX ON STARTUP: OPENING FIREFOX.EXE – YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO OPEN FIREFOX.EXE WHICH IS A: APPLICATION [HIGHLIGHTED] WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAVE THIS FILE? SAVE FILE or CANCEL THE USUAL HOME PAGE DOES NOT APPEAR, REQUIRING CLICKING ON THE HOME ICON IN FIREFOX TO BRING UP THE USUAL YAHOO CANADA HOMEPAGE. HOWEVER, INTERNET ACCESS STILL WORKS EVEN THOUGH THE INTERNET CONNECTION ICON ON THE LOWER RIGHT TASKBAR SHOWS NO CONNECTION (THE INTEL CONNECTION PROGRAM IS USED ON THIS LAPTOP, NOT MICROSOFT WINDOW'S CONNECTION SOFTWARE.) NORTON “MAIN PROGRAM” WON'T RUN EVEN FROM A MANUAL ATTEMPT: CCAPP.EXE APPLICATION NOT FOUND. HOWEVER, NORTON MANUAL SCAN WORKS WHEN ANOTHER (SCAN STUB) PROGRAM IS SELECTED FROM THE NORTON SUBDIRECTORY (NO MEMORY-RESIDENT NORTON,THOUGH – IT WAS USUALLY BRINGING ITSELF UP ON BOOTUP.) NOTE – THE VERY LATEST FIREFOX UPDATED NO LONGER HAD A “JAVA” CONTROL ALLOW/DISABLE BOX --- INSTEAD, JAVA IS CONTROLLED BY THE EXTENSIONS AND ALL THE MANY DIFFERENT JAVA CONSOLES (DIFFERENT VERSIONS) HAVE TO BE MANUALLY DISABLED, ALL 13 VERSIONS OF THEM .) WE USUALLY HAVE JAVA ON, JAVASCRIPT OFF, BUT WITH THE LATEST FIREFOX VERSION, JAVA DEFAULTED TO ON BECAUSE OF THE MOZILLA CHANGE IN THE LATEST VERSION DOWNLOADED ABOUT A WEEK AGO. WHEN THE CONTROL PANEL'S “ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAM” ICON IS CLICKED, AN “APPLICATION NOT FOUND” ERROR \rundll32.exe APPEARS SEARCHING FOR THE rundll32 ON THE COMPUTER, IT FOUND TWO COPIES, IN SYSTEM32 SUBDIRECTORY AND IN A SERVICEPACK\FILES\i386 SUBDIRECTORY THE DATES ON THESE FILES ARE 2008 I ALSO SEE THAT THE rundll32a ...WIREPEATING KEY ASPECTS: NORTON 360 DOESN'T FIND ANY MALWARE OR VIRUSES. Resolved Question: My computer doesn't remember any of the programmes on it?

A few days ago i turned on my computer and this pop up came up and said that there was a lot of infected files on my computer. It was called Windows Vista Anti Virus. I think it was a virus because it wouldn't let me use the internet. My computer's anti virus is Norton 360 so i clicked on it and PC Tune Up. Then I ran a file clean up. Then the pop up was gone. But then I tried to get onto the internet and this thing kept asking me to locate it. I found a shortcut that does work. But now to use iTunes i have to use a stored music file and to get onto microsoft word and other programmes i have to open up old doctuments. There are two accounts on my computer and it has only affected one. What happened and how can I fix it? more

Voting Question: Does anyone have a solution to MS vista error code 80070020?

I have been in touch with Microsoft about my error code 80070020 for almost a month now. They appear not to know how I can load an update. I have Googled "error code 80070020" and found that I am not alone. There are hundreds of people in the same boat as me. As I expected MS have now suggested that I use Windows 7, but how do I know that Windows 7 is not like Vista and is also "not fit for purpose". I bought my pc in the belief that being build around Vista it would do everything I asked of it. Instead I find myself watching paint dry following instructions from Microsoft and risking my files by having to switch off my anti virus. Most solutions given when I have asked here before tell me to buy a registry cleaner from an unknown source or I get some jerk from MS saying that their pc works great. (Either liars from MS or Apple users!) Anyone got an answer that is simple, risk free, and works?Obviously I have tried the windows recommendations, but when they reocoomend things like, Click Start, click Run, type Firewall.cpl, and then click OK. On the General tab, click Off (not recommended), and then click OK. Run Microsoft Update or Windows Update"! you realise that recommending the unrecommended is what they do. They are now recommending I buy Windows 7!Latest from MS Regarding the current issue, it is very likely that some core system components were corrupted. In this situation, a Vista DVD can help refresh the whole system and clear the unnecessary or corrupted information. This is an efficient way to resolve the issue completely. I suggest you contact the computer manufacturer and ask for a Vista DVD." So ever the mighty Microsoft is not responsible for its updates. Pass the blame as usual. They said this the last two times I had trouble! more

Resolved Question: Do I restore or repair my Windows XP?

So, yesterday I was a victim of the rouge Anti-virus software, XP Anti-virus Pro 2010. I have been trying to get my computer the way it was before, but it seems near impossible now. The spy-ware erased all of the system restore points, so I can't do that. I figured my only option is to just start the computer from a clean slate. The only thing is, the computer I have was a gift from a boyfriend, meaning I do not have a CD. The product key is on my tower printed on a sticker. My question is whether I should (and can) do re-install, or do a recovery, and what is the difference between the two? The option I would prefer is to get the files the virus may have altered back to their original states while still keeping the applications that were on the computer when I got it (Microsoft Office 2007 CCleaner) if possible. My computer is a Dell OptiPlex GX280 running Microsoft XP Professional 2002 with an Intel Pentium 4 cpu, 2.80 GHZ, and 504 MB OF Ram (If that helps at all) If there is anything else that needs to be known for anyone to help, just let me know! I really want to get this desktop in tip-top shape again. Looking forward to prompt replies and thanks in advanced! more

Resolved Question: Had to restore laptop to factory default, now i cannot connect to microsoft.com or get windows updates?

I recently kept getting a blue screen error message on my laptop and wasn't able to start it up, so I used Ibm rescue and recovery to restore my laptop to its factory defaults. I am able to get onto my computer now, however i cannot connect to microsoft.com and i'm not able to get windows updates. My computer is stuck with service pack 1 and i am trying to update it to at least service pack 2. I keep getting a message saying that my current service pack is unsecure, but i cannot do anything about it. I also cannot connect to numerous anti virus sites, such as eset.com or the site for a few other free anti-virus programs. So i'm totally lost on what to do. Resolved Question: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer?

Hello, all. I have an HP Pavilion ZV6130us Laptop I got from circuit city about 3-4 years ago. I was doing my normal browsing (email, myspace, facebook), and it seemed to be working fine until last night. I was going to watch a movie on it, but the sound card drivers malfunctioned. Whenever I double-clicked on the volume icon in the lower right taskbar, a prompt would appear, saying I would have to go into the settings and turn the driver back on (I'm not 100% sure of what it said). So I finished what I was doing, and turned it off like you are supposed to via the start menu. This morning, I received a blue screen stating the following: A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation, or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption., and then restart your computer. Technical Information: *** STOP: 0X00000024 (0X001902FE, 0XF78CE47C, 0XF78CE178, 0X89CFB889) That's all it says. I'm not sure if the sound issue and this error coexist. From what I've been researching on Microsoft's support page, this error has to do with the NTFS HDD, or a corrupted file system/boot sequence. I could be wrong. On this blue screen, I don't have the option to push any buttons, therefore I have to turn it off by pressing the power button. It then loads up and tells me I can start up in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration, or start windows normally. I've been able to start in safe mode twice. It won't do it anymore, it just loads all of the drivers, and freezes. I can boot in safe mode with command prompt almost all of the time though. When I did load from the regular safe mode, I did a system restore to roughly 30 days ago, and still the blue screen existed. I've also loaded the setup screen by pressing F10 I believe it was, when the computer initially powers on. I ran both short/long HDD tests. They both passed. I saved changes, and exited. After that, the blue screen. Sometimes I get the blue screen, others, I get the boot from safe mode screen. It varies. I'm unable to do the CHKDSK /F and CHKDSK /R. It says that it can't. I've also inserted my WinXP cd and tried to do the repair option, no luck. It won't do that either. I was going to attempt the 'selective startup' option using MSCONFIG in the run command, but my next attempt, the safe mode wouldn't load, so I couldn't. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. I can be more descriptive if need be. more

Resolved Question: I really need help? Biggest Computer Virus I ever encountered!!?

5 hours ago from now i was surfing my browswer and just looking at things. I always pay attention to everything and i make sure I never install anything that's harmful or something i dont trust. Like if i want to install an update or some other stuff I'll always go on the official Microsoft website to do so. I was on google, surfing. I typed in the rarest diablo 2 items (Diablo 2 is an rpg for those who don't know that). And so i looked around, i clicked on a few websites. My computer was fine, then when i finally clicked on a 3rd one ( it was called something like maxfreak) (DO NOT GO ON IT), my firefox browser failed. So i was like, okay this happens every 2 weeks and now. I re-opened my firefox. Everything was still fine. Then on my right, this crap popped up, must install security system, 3000 threats found!) Ok I didn't fall for that so i blocked it because I know that it was an unkown publisher. But even when i ignored it ( i didn't press anything on it or related to it) That crap still coming back, another window popped up. So I started to realize some sh!t was happening. So i moved fast, i quickly turned on my anti virus scan. I made sure my firewall was on, and so i waited untill i could find something. A friend recommended me that i downloaded the latest malwarebytes system. Before I did, my antivirus system started going crazy, I could tell that sh!t was done for, it got infected. So it was a race against time, i couldn't install the malware byes ( anti malware system) my friend uses it, its safe. because apparently the VIRUS wouldn't allow me to install it. So i kept moving on. i installed another program which i knew was safe. I managed to do that, and then i managed to find what was wrong. I had over 300 small viruses, malware and trojans ( by just going onto 1 website). I was scared, seriously, so i did my best i removed everything. My computer went back to normal. I thought it was over? It looked like it, everything was perfect. i clicked again my my firefox.. ERROR CANNOT FIND FILE ERROR. I clicked on one of my games (starcraft, diablo 2) ERROR CANNOT FIND FILE. i clicked on itunesk adope, ANYTHING, nothing is working. So i quickly moved on, i did the recovery system from before when i visited that website. and guess what it finished, and i still got ERROR everywhere. I tried to think what to do, i realized if i right clicked on a program and made it run, adminstator, it would then run!! The virus was still nowhere in sight, i think i deleted it all. But then your probably thinking? Hey why not go on the properties ( and check the box ( run as admin...). Yes i did that, but it still gives me that ERROR. I have to always right click a program to make it start. The exact error text says.. Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. Can someone please help me? I will give you1 best answer if you find solution? I will give you 3 best answer if you help me solve it (finally). How? i will make 2 more question (random and just give you the best answer in the end). Please don't tell me to call microsoft, they aren't going to do crap!! I don't think i can re-install the system, since i upgraded it form windows vista to windows 7. Please help me!! I am not a computer expert! Thank Youmy system detected, in total ( from what happened today) 3 viruses, 5 Trojans, 4 adware programs ( vulnerbility)The Error message wont allow me to install anything. more

Resolved Question: Virus won't let me open anything except firefox?

Help! This morning all of a sudden my computer stopped letting me open any Windows programmes- everything from Task Manager to card games is off limits. Internet and Microsoft Office is fine but thats about all I can do. If I try to open up a Windows programme, I get the following message: "Application cannot be executed. The file ________ is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?" And if I follow up this link with a Yes, it asks me to purchase something. I keep getting bombarded by this anti-virus programme which I don't remember downloading, and intermitantly the computer brings up porn websites (seriously) without me clicking anything. I am unable to use my own anti-virus programme and files I have attempted to download from the internet. If anybody could offer some insight or help or anything helpful really I would be grateful as this problem is causing me great inconvenience. Many thanks in advance more

Resolved Question: What could be wrong with my computer and how do I fix it?

Ok I have a Windows XP and I recently got what they call a rogue-anti-virus on my computer, however I have since removed it from my computer using superantispyware, and now it's pretty much back to normal and i have no more of those annoying popups that appeared at the corner of the screen. now however, I am no longer able to double click on icons on my desktop to access a program i now have to right click and click start or open for them to open, when i DO double click on them it asks me which program i want to open it with, and it has a list of the programs on my computer (internet explorer, microsoft word, and other programs) so that has become an issue. ALSO I am not able to open up Add or Remove programs in my Control Panel (as well as Security and Help & Support) when I click certain programs such as those it says the application was not found. But I have not deleted it from my computer, to my knowledge. Does anyone know if this break is repairable or maybe how to fix it and what I could do? Please and thank you your answers are greatly appreciated. more

Resolved Question: Running two anti virus systems?

I was running AVG free edition before I upgraded to Windows 7, then was advised to downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials after it was installed. Both appear to be running ok. Is there likely to be a conflict with both being on the same PC? I don't run them at the same time and have had no problems so far. more

Resolved Question: How do I get rid of this bad Computer Virus?

I just got this computer virus that is not letting me execute any programs besides firefox, and my anti-virus is inaccessible. I tried downloading it again and re-installing it, but it won't let me do that either. And then every five seconds a window pops up saying how my computer is infected and "Get the latest anti-spy ware from Microsoft :D", and I can guarantee it wouldn't let me do that either, besides, it's 70 freekin bucks. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this would be great. more

Resolved Question: Malware Security Problems?

ive looked up some information n i think that my virus is a malware. all the problems im having are: my computer keeps rebooting itself and will never start unless i use the debugging mode {the safe mode doesn't work}. I can only use firefox not internet explorer. i get pop-ups and website re-directs, a anti-virus program installed itself on my computer,. i get windows security alerts and security warnings saying "application cannot be executed the file**** is infected do you want to activate your antivirus software now?". And when i try to download files from microsoft to help remove the virus i can't open them and that same warning comes up. i have symantec anti-virus program and its almost complete with a full system scan but no threats have been detected so far. When i was looking up some information on it i found something about renaming the security shields n restart the computer so they can't be detected but im confused about that part if its talking about the computers actual security then i dont have a problem with running it cause i use symantec n it can still run but if its talking about the program that the virus installed then idk where to find the files for that. Someone please walk me through on how to fix my computer. more
