Open Question: Questions about Threatfire?
NOTE: I asked this question earlier today but I got unsatisfactory answers so I'm asking it again with slightly different details. I was thinking of getting Threatfire (still deciding on it) as an extra layer of protection for my PC. I researched Threatfire and saw that it has "Real-time behavior based protection". What concerns me about Threatfire is that will it cause conflicts with anti-viruses or anti-threat software that has a "real-time protection" feature? I heard that Threatfire isn't supposed to clash with other antivirus software but I'm not really convinced about it. Also, does Threatfire work along side well with most Internet Security suites (paid and free). Does Threatfire have any gripes or issues I should look out for? I heard rumors that.... -Threatfire contains a keylogger. -Threatfire causes many people's keyboard to stop working. -It slows down your system or it could crash your system! Are some of these rumors true? Despite all these concerns, I still might get Threatfire in the end but should I get it or not? NOTES: I plan to put Threatfire on my second laptop, a IBM Thinkpad running Windows XP SP 3. My IBM Thinkpad has the free versions of Avira Anti-Antivirus, MalwareBytes, and Superantispyware. Even though Avira Antivir doesn't have some sort of "real-time protection" feature, I'm still concerned about it because I'm planning to buy an antivirus software soon. moreOpen Question: Threatfire questions?
I was thinking of getting Threatfire (still deciding on it) as an extra layer of protection for my PC. I researched Threatfire and saw that it has "Real-time behavior based protection". What concerns is me that if I install Threatfire along side my Antivirus (Kaspersky Internet Security 2010), will it cause conflicts with Kaspersky's real-time scanning or any other anti-viruses or anti-threat software that has a "real-time protection" feature? I heard that Threatfire isn't supposed to clash with other antivirus software but I'm not really convinced about it. Also, does Threatfire work along side well with most Internet Security suites (not just the Anti-virus portion. Please note that many Anti-virus companies sell an Anti-virus AND Internet Security suite product separately. I just want to know about the Internet Security suite). NOTE: I have a three-year old Dell Inspirion 1405 running Windows XP SP 3.Zep516, I don't know if you used or heard of Threatfire before but I did some extensive research and I heard that Threatfire technically ISN'T an antivirus program like Kaspersky. To future answerers: correct me if I'm wrong on this but I don't think Threatfire is an antivirus like Kaspersky.Oh yeah ,the second answerer made me think about something. I would suppose that Threatfire would only be good to work along side FREE antiviruses because they're not that heavy as paid antiviruses?NOTE: I already use the free versions of MalwareBytes and Superantispyware. moreOpen Question: anyone tell me which is the best pc total protection software to remove virus anti malware everythin?
hey guys tell me which is the best paid total protection software is it mcafee, panda, norton, bit defender or any other but suggest me the best one please moreOpen Question: How does one GET XP Guardian?
I got XP Guardian all randomly and did the research and figured out how to get rid of it. I downloaded something called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and did the whole Safe Mode thing... It's gone now. But I'm wondering how I got it in the first place! It's not a virus, is it. It's some kind of malicious rogue software, as they say? Did I download it somehow by accident? I didn't download anything at the time when it popped up! And also, the scanner that cleaned up some viruses as well as XP Guardian... what is that? Just a scanner for malicious software or does it do it all? And if it does, then why is it considered not as good as something like MacAfee, a legitimate virus protection software program? Thanks! moreOpen Question: Are there any free anti-virus for a Home Server?
I recently got a server from a teacher who had it for years. I'm not using it for business, or in a corporate environment, I took it mostly because we needed a second computer in the house. My plan had been to uninstall the anti-virus that was on the machine (Symantec) and put on Avira Free edition. I didn't find out that you can't use free software on a server until after I uninstalled Symantec. Does anyone know of any free "server edition" anti virus software? Or am I going to have to suck it up and start paying for protection? moreVoting Question: IS MICRO SOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS A COMPLETE ANTI VIRUS?

I just recently reformatted my PC because I had a virus. My Anti-virus stuff obviously wasn't good enough so I thought maybe I should ask around. I'm looking for some really great, but free programs for: -Virus protection -Spyware protection -Adware/Malware protection I have looked myself but I don't trust my own judgment. I always seem to get stuff that messes up my computer when I'm trying to protect it. Links and a little info would be nice. moreResolved Question: What is the best anti-virus and security software?

(BTW, i plan to get a laptop) moreResolved Question: If you have no virus protection 4 your computer and get a virus, is it too late to install anti virus software?
I was thinking about buying some till I saw the price its like 89 dollars. would it be better just to buy a new computer and install it right away moreVoting Question: Is the ESET software any good?
Have been looking around for internet security/anti virus/antispam/antispyware software for my new laptop. I wanted to avoid norton, macaffe etc as I haven't had good experiences with these programs in the past on other computers. Looked around for other programmes and have come across ESET smart security. Anyone know if it's any good? Will it suit my requirements? I"m ok with computers but no crash override/zero cool :) I just want something that'll give me plenty of protection, that won't task my laptop too hard and that won't keep poppin up to tell me it stoopped this attack or updated this software. Any advice appreciated moreVoting Question: I discovered an anti-spyware scan on my PC. What should I do?
Recently I was on a website where a virus threat appeared out of nowhere and I feel worried by this latest threat. I was then sent to the anti-spyware scan on Windows Internet Explorer and a scanning process was performed; it discovered threats on document folders and hard drives. The red labeling said "Your computer could be infected". But I have the AVG Free 9.0 software that scans for viruses and other threats by itself and I have no idea that anything out of the ordinary could appear when nothing goes wrong on the Internet - ever. I want to have a full system cleanup but I'm not sure if that's going to work. I already have the AVG software installed on my PC and I don't want to download any more security programs unless I want to. And with the Windows Security Alert that already detected trojans and ready to remove them, I'm unsure about the effectiveness of cleaning up the computer with downloading software that may or may not be safe. I don't know how often such scans would appear out of nowhere when I'm anywhere on the Web (I was on Photobucket when I discovered it), but if I don't want to see that again, then I must not go back to using Internet Explorer again. On Mozilla Firefox I never run across such scans. And I use a laptop but not a regular computer with the monitor regularly. What do I do if I unintentionally run into anti-spyware scans that I may or may not trust? If I ever trust them would I do what I'm instructed to do? If I don't trust such alerts would I lose protection of my PC forever? moreResolved Question: are these free security software is a good choice? are they compatible with each other?

I have looked through their top downloads for the security section and I am hoping to find complete security with the free software available to me. If you are wondering exactly where I am talking about, look here: http://download.cnet.com/windows/security-software/3150-2023_4-0.html?tag=mncol%3Bsort&filter=licenseName%3DFree&rpp=10&sort=downloadCount+asc Lol, you can call me cheap, I bought Kaspersky 2010 but forgot to install it on this PC (whoopsy daisies!) so that's why I am asking this question. I am wondering, will I have complete protection if I add these to my "arsenal" of anti-internet- problems? - Ad-Aware Free Anti-Malware - AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition - Spybot - Search & Destroy - ZoneAlarm (The free firewall) In your opinion, which of the three is better? I have a new laptop but don't have it set up yet, and my parents bought me a Norton anti virus software CD to use with it. I've not read all the bumph yet regarding installing it but was wondering had my parents wasted their money. I have to switch it on and off a few times before it will start, sometimes if I leave the power on for about ten to fifteen mins then switch off and try again it usually works and turns on as normal. Help me? I need my computer back.?
I was on FailBlog.org when I was hit by a very poorly disguised malware/spyware program. When I tried to open McAffee, it shut all my windows and insisted that I run the 'anti-virus software'. This is what the virus/spyware looked like. It called itself "Anti-Virus Soft: Innovative protection for your computer". It was orange, and had many 'Engrish' spelling errors, which makes me think it was Chinese or Korean. It opened itself in the middle of the screen, and would persistantly tell me that "Your computer is infected! You need to run your anti-virus soft!" (*yes, it used the word 'soft', not software*) The colours of the spyware was: orange, gray and white, with rounded buttons and lots of pop ups. I shut the wireless/blutooth reciever off (its a laptop; Inspiron 1250, 2008; Windows Vista Home) and started the computer in safe mode, only to find that the spyware had destroyed my McAffee program, and made it so that Parental Controls wouldn't allow me to access ANY website at all (I'm using another computer), This makes me think its malware, or very persistent spyware determined to eat my files. I have many important files on my computer, and I NEED to access them to pass my school classes. I'm afraid to get onto the computer in case it can further eat away at my files. Please help. McAffees a bitch for customer support ($81 just to call them to evaluate my situation), and I don't actually own the software (my dad bought it). I'm thinking about going and actually buying a new thing of McAffee from a local store, but I'm also afraid it'll destroy the disk. Help me. ~Halfingr Halflingr@gmail.com moreResolved Question: Youtube Causes my computer to crash?
Now I might talk a little technical in this. Youtube is causing my computer to crash. And i'm sure that it's not the internet being slow, or my computer being annoying. I have tried everything. I have Ran anti-virus, checked anti-Mal-ware, tried multiple Web browsers (google chrome/Firefox/Internet explorer/ Heck even Comodo Dragon) I have even did a Registry clean up, Disk Defrag, and what not. There is just nothing that i can find on my computer that can cause my computer to crash when watching youtube. I have a Toshiba P505D AMD Turiod X2 2.2GHZ dual core 4GB of RAM 200GB Left on my 400GB Hard Drive I run 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. I have upgraded from the standard Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit that came with my laptop. I am Running Comodo Antivirus as my firewall/Anti-virus (it comes as a package) Spybot Search and Destroy as my Registry Protection/Anti-Malware I am Running Google Chrome as my Web Browser (Now, want's to switch back to firefox) I Have used Comodo System Cleaner as my System Registry Cleaner I have made no hardware or software changes when these problems started to appear (until after they Appeard) I have Embarq high speed internet as well. I get a 341.6kB/s download rate, and a 78.6kB/s Upload rate. And what makes no sense at all is that it's only Youtube and other video playing websites like Google Video and what not. In fact I can sit on a website like facebook for Hours and have no problem, I can be dowloading patches for videogames, and what and have 0 problems. It's only Video playback. I have updated Adobe Flashplayer, and I have updated Java. I just cannot find a solution. My computer worked perfectly fine one day. and when i shut it off, packed it up and went back home from chilling at a friends house. The next day I unpacked it set it back up. Turned it on, and had this problem. I am really Desperate to get this problem fixed. Heck i'd even Re-Install my OS if it fixes this problem. I was just on the internet on my laptop when I got this major virus that none of my virus scans caught where it told me my computer was infected then proceeded to run a "diagnostic scan". Before I could react, it completely shut down my internet and took me to this page to buy virus protection software. I got out of that, but now none of my programs will open, including the Windows Task Manager. There will be a little error box that pops up basically stating that the program contains a virus and they've blocked it for my protection. I restarted my computer, but it still won't work and now a new notice keeps popping up repeatedly about a tamper warning. Clearly, it's my anti-virus scans, the real ones, trying to alert me to this malicious program. But this virus keeps deleting the message before I can really read it. So, please if there is anything I can do, please help! I need my laptop for school work, since I can't bring my desktop with me to college. I'm on my desktop now, since I just happened to be home. I don't know what it is, but it downloaded itself onto my computer (I was on Yahoo! Answers when it happened). I searched for all files under that name and got the file's shortcut, I removed it from my computer but I still have to find the program itself. It is not in the "All Programs" section of the start menu, and I only found the shortcut when I searched. My Anti-virus/Spyware programs don't detect anything out of the ordinary, but I still want this program off my computer. I know it isn't valid because the moron who created the program misspelled a lot of words (LOL). What it says: Security: Virus Protection (Importat) Control-Center did not find anti-virus software of this computer. Traffic filtering: Network Firewall (Iportant) Control-Center found undesireable network activity. Network Firewall is not installed. It then asks me to register and input my personal information, so that further proves that it isn't a genuine antiviral software site. moreResolved Question: Best Antivirus on mac?

"Virus Program" has taken over my computer? For the last few days I've been having a major virus related issue. I have AVG and Ad-Aware which run constantly in the background, and I also have Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware which I have never really used before until now. I use a wireless internet connecting through my computer to my University's wireless network. My problem is that now whenever I have my computer on, a few minutes after I start it up I get messages from an "antivirus" program that I do not have, telling me that windows has detected a security threat, that my computer is infected and saying "click here for the scan you computer" (certainly a very trustworthy program). I always close the bubble but then I get bombarded with messages that specific files are infected. Usually it says "Application cannot be executed. The file wuauclt.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?" I don't know what wuaclt is. Whenever I try to open a program -- any program at all, whether it be itunes or just my program manager, the message changes specific to whatever I'm trying to open: "the file itunes.exe is infected" or whatever, and usually the program does not open. These messages come from my taskbar where there is a little blue shield icon with a white stripe. I have tried right-clicking on this icon to close it like I would do with any "normal" application in the taskbar, and when I do it pulls up a "virus scan" window for "Antivirus Live" with 34 infections found -- always the same things. It often, but not always, will also open a window in the main screen of my computer giving me the same message and playing that distinctive "windows error" sound. After a while, it will automatically open an IE browser window (I use Firefox) asking me to buy this "Antivirus Live" program for $50 to $70. I closed this window a few minutes ago and it automatically opened another IE window with a porn site -- very classy when I"m working the front desk of my building. It will also open the Windows Security Center automatically, but I don't think it's the real security center because it says that I do not have anti-virus protection when in fact I do. The first few times this happened, it would either go away on its own after a few minutes, or I could restart my computer and it would work properly on restart. Since my antivirus/antispyware programs weren't finding anything significant I didn't worry too much, and there was a full day of no problems at all. Now, however, the problem seems worse than ever, and I can't even really use my computer. As a college student this is a major problem for me. AVG has found a few trojans and quite a few tracking cookies, but removing them has not taken care of the problem. The anti-spyware and anti-malware have not found anything. I just downloaded and installed avast, which I used to have a while ago and I prefer over AVG, and I'm currently running a scan but it hasn't found anything yet. I don't know what is going on but it's driving me crazy and I would like any help available to try and fix it. moreResolved Question: Which one of this software's are better for Internet Protection and Anti-Virus?
