Voting Question: PC Audio and video stutters to crawl?
Hi all, So recently, i noticed some stutters occurred whenever there's a sound on my PC (even the 'POP' sound when we safely remove flash drive) and the flv videos also have the same problem. As if somebody clicking pause-play-pause-play at an enormous speed. My PC System: Windows XP Intel(R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz 2.20GHz, 2.00GB of RAM I don't play video games on my PC, i only use it for work (Adobe Photoshop), i tunes, streaming videos and internet browsing, and my PC handled all of that activities at once flawlessly, until now. The 'stuttering' just happened 2 days ago, i was listening to my i tunes and all of a sudden to sound starting to crawl. There are things that may (or may not) have caused this problem that i had done prior to the problem: 1.I upgraded my Kaspersky Anti virus from 2009 to 2011. At first it was fine, but after i ran the full scan, the kaspersky started to wear down my PC, therefore i removed it with KAV REMOVER (but after i finished the scan) 2.I downloaded a file via Torrent (VUZE), and things started to slow down in the middle of the process (i did this the same time as kaspersky full scan was just minutes away from finish) After i removed the kaspersky, my PC is back to it's normal speed but leaving the sound and videos unrepaired. Here's the list of things i have done in order to fix this: 1.Did a disk cleanup and free about 20Gb of space. 2.Uninstall VUZE 3.Did a full scan with 'lighter' antivirus (ESET NOD32) which also scans spyware, malware etc. 4. I used StartUp CPL 2.8 and disabled all start up programs (not the programs entirely, just disabling them to start they same time windows starts) 5.Cleaning the dust inside my CPU. Although the speed of my PC is now back, the audio and video still stutters. The stutters' getting worse when im listening to i tunes while doing another process (like browsing the web for example). What might have caused this? And how do i fix this? Your inputs are deeply appreciated, thank you. moreVoting Question: I need to know which of these anti-virus softwares are good and efficient?

Here is some few Hints and Tips to keep yourself safe on the Internet: I can see many different types off suggestions to Anti Viruses on this site, therefor I decided to make this guide, I will list some few populare programs. On internet today there are many different threats to consider, viruses can be hidden everywhere and can be transferred through email, USB, Software and internet sites, but the best protection you got against these is Common Sense, you should never open emails which are considered spam, enter sites which got a suspicious name unless your running sandbox mode. Question: There are many different kind off protection you should consider, but there are so many different kinds off software, so which is the best? Answer: There is no "THE BEST" anti virus or anti malware, but some are better then others. It is dependent on how you use it and what you preffer Payed Anti Virus: - Kaspersky Anti Virus ( You can also buy this with Internet Security including different features) - Comodo Anti Virus ( You can also buy this with Internet Security including different features) - Eset Anti Virus «Nod32» ( You can also buy this with Internet Security which is called Eset Smart Security) - Bit Defender - Avast ( You can also buy this with Internet Security including different features, I think) If you are unsure of whetever to download a software most off these will have a "sandbox" mode meaning it will download the software in a virtual envirnment meaning if the file is containing a malicious item it cant harm your PC - Avira (Effective Anti Virus, pretty similar to Avast) - Norton Anti Virus 2010 (Norton has earlier been a overpriced inefficent anti virus but with their new 2010 edition their really impressing me with good detection rate and should be consider a very good anti virus) Free Anti Virus: - Microsoft Security Essentials - Avast Free - Avira free - Comodo Anti Virus - Avg (Biggest Free Anti Virus, but it's not one off my favorites and it is supposed to be highly inefficent) There are many Anti Viruses on the market today, people are taking sides and people are saying their Anti Virus is the best, tests always vary and its up to what you preffer yourself, the one's listed in this guide is amongst the most popular and all are efficent in their own way. Anti Viruses today always have an in-built Anti Malware engine, many off these are efficent in one way or the other but your protection is way below what you would get if you had a 3rd party Anti Spyware/Malware program, You can run all these Programs listed below togheter, though my Personal Favorite is Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. Payed Anti Malware - SuperAntiSpyware pro - Malwarebytes pro - SpyBot Search&Destroy Free anti malware/spyware - Malwarebytes - Spybot Search&Destroy - SuperantiSpyware (Got more suggestions, post them, but suggest good software) Additional protection: You also got other types off protection, a very important part off your protection is your firewall, it will let you control what applications are allowed access to the internet and other actions. Firewalls: Windows Firewall (Effective, standard with Windows) Comodo Firewall (Comodo.com) Zone Alarm Firewall (Zone Alarm.com) Links are located below: Payed Anti Virus: - Bitdefender.com - Kaspersky.com - Eset.com (Their Free antivirus is Nod32) - Avast.com - Avira.com - Norton.com - Comodo.com (Very easy to navigate) Free Anti Virus: - microsoft.com/security_essentials/mark… - Avast.com - Avira.com - Comodo.com - Avg.com Payed Anti Malware/Spyware - Malwarebytes.com - Superantispyware.com (Superadblocker.com too I think) - http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html Free AntiMalware: - http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html - Malwarebytes.com - SuperAntiSpyware.com Web Browser: - FireFox - Google Chrome - Opera - Comodo Dragon (Actually a very very secure browser but with a Plug-In FireFox is supposed to be the most secure browser There is also one last thing to remmember, in order for your protection to be at it's very peak I would reccomend you check for updates ones a week, as thousands off Viruses comes out every day, the need for a updated system is very high. Personal Response: Most or all off these programs are great, though these will not give you a everlasting protection, thousands off viruses are found every day, keeping your programs up to date is vital. You will also need a small portion off common sense and doubt, if you by any means see a spam mail with a link to a site, I would not open it, I would rather leave it tf safe on the Internet: I can see many different types off suggestions to Anti Viruses on this site, therefor I decided to make this guide, I will list some few populare programs. On internet today there are many different threats to consider, viruses can be hidden everywhere andBecause SpyBot is paid you have both Pro and Free. This is not just my tougths, its based on tests, and their very effective in General :), Comodo is not terrible yet it is highly effective though yes its Virus scan is really suckish xD. Please don't give me grammar responds, then your really fucked up, give me responds such as other "GOOD" programs or additional details to thisIf you got any suggestions how to improve this, feel free to add my msn or email me at glenn_Vitti@hotmail.com, and we could perhaps discuss a more comprehensive guide? If you got any suggestions how to improve this, feel free to add my msn or email me at glenn_Vitti@hotmail.com, and we could perhaps discuss a more comprehensive guide?-.-, sorry but cant edit away that annoying double post :).ZoneAlarm is a good Firewall http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge/results.php This site is not a good site to take facts from seeming it does some weirdo tests and really gives false results. + Comodo gets top marks there -..- moreResolved Question: Should I update my internet security build?
I haven't maintained my computer in a long while due to being busy. I am wondering if should change or keep my current internet security? What are the best new programs out? Money is not a problem. Below is my security build and it's all up to date. OS- Windows 7 Ultimate with latest updates. Anti Virus - ESET Nod32 paid version (I could use ESET Smart Security 4 but I feel Win 7 firewall is good enough) Correct me if I'm wrong. Anti spyware- Malwarebytes Free Web Browser - Firefox 3.6 with additional add ons, Noscript, ABP, Better Privacy, and WOT. I'm also using CCleaner Sandboxie paid version. Which I love! Secunia PSI Paid VPN instead of using proxies. So shall I get anything new or am I good for now? ThanksPlease only let the pro's answer this question. And please do not give me a copy and paste of those cheap free ware programs such as AVG, Spybot Search & Destroy, and etc. moreResolved Question: What's better? Kis2010 Or NOD32?
I know there are many questions of these, but I want to question this because my computer gets like 100% laggy and my mouse doesnt even move when I try to do a full scan with kaspersky internet security 2010. But with the quick scan, I can scan and my pc doesn't get laggy. I heard that kaspersky internet security 2010 detects and removes the virus before entering in the pc and nod32 detects and removes the virus when the virus is already in the pc and doing the virus's effects to the pc. I want to know too that if NOD32 has same or less virus knowledge than kaspersky, that means, which one can find more virus? Like I believe kaspersky is the best virus detector around, but I want to know a virus that doesn't slow down your pc. My computer has 1gig ram, and I believe thats why my kaspersky is epic laggy when it full scans. And I want to know that if NOD32 has anti-spyware stuff too. Don't suggest other internet securities/antivirus please. I heard that these ones are good. Im ready to pay if I need to. And please dont suggest free programs too, I got lots of good stuff, like malwarebytes, etc. Thanks, - Gonçalo moreResolved Question: Which 2010 AntiVirus?

About a week ago something created a password protected windows account names 3b02f. Have a feeling it is some type of spyware. I deleted the account, but 3 days later it created it again. I then did a system restore back a couple weeks before all of this happened. Still have yet to see it it worked or not, but today my windows 7 started saying to wasn't a legal copy (it is), so I installed windows again from scratch - all good. Then I downloaded stopzilla which said I had 15 viruses, but then I realised to get rid of them I'd have to pay for it, so I tried Ad-Aware, which is free and when I scanned, said that there were no viruses and my computer was fine. So, I'm hoping someone can recommend some other spyware removal programs (that are free) so I can double/triple check that theres nothing going on that shouldn't. I currently have NOD32 installed as anti virus protection, but the virus got through because I was trying to download some free photoshop brushes (so it's kind of my own fault) Any advice would be helpful! moreResolved Question: Which is the best free Anti-Virus software ?? Hello Internet, I recently got myself a nice little netbook. It's actually one of the larger netbooks some call an notebook ultraportable. I got the ASUS EeePC 1201N 12" Dual Core Atom with ION graphics Netbook. I am interested in finding the most efficient. Best Anti-virus for a Netbook. How is there new Avast 5.0 Free Edition? is it still as lightweight and clean as the Avast 4? What about Microsoft Security Enterprises or whatever it's called? I've heard thats ok. Any suggestions, input, or Links to top 5, or Reviews of AV's would be appreciated. And what are you running on your netbook?malware bytes is excellent.. I wish to run two anti-virus programs (not at once) since some has more features than others, and one can catch something the other might miss. I currently have NOD32 antivirus. Should I go with AVG, Avira, or AVAST? I like NOD32, but it doesn't have the safe-search and other features that some of these free AV programs have. I wanted to clear up some information flying around yahoo answers posted by the Norton, McAfee, Avast!, Avira, Bitdefender, etc... virus software fanboys. (come on people! being a fanboy of Virus software is just sad!) Contrary to what the fanboys want you to believe, AVG does not work on file names alone. It works on virus signatures and heuristics just like every other anti virus product out there, so stop claiming that AVG falsely detects major OS components as infected, this is just a complete lie. If your AVG install IS detecting major OS components as infected then you are either using a pirated windows copy or you have gotten a serious infection. Resource usage is actually very satisfactory compared to other offerings; especially the common ones like Norton and McAfee! Even if you compare to the other free offerings like Avira and Avast which both use roughly 80MB of system memory with "minimal" installation options, AVG free installed with minimal options still beats them out since it only uses roughly 25MB. As for detections, they could be better. But you can't expect it to be as good as the subscription Nod32 or Eset Smart Scan for the detections over resource usage and AVG is pretty competitivewith other free solutions in this area. Remember, you cannot simply install an anti virus program on a Windows system and always expect it to come back 100% clean, no matter what brand you use, NO anti-malware packages can make that claim. I will admit that now that they've started using pop-up ad screens like Avira, I will probably switch for the better detection rates since the only thing keeping me from switching to Avira in the first place was all their ads. Anyway, let me know what you think.LOL already the fanbois come out in droves! AVG was made to detect the EICAR only in certain formats on purpose. Grisoft did want a method to recieve the file for file based tests that are also needed so they don't detect it in every format. Every company chooses how they will detect this.. originally they detected it in most all formats but found then that people couldn't get a copy to test other areas with. All Eicar effectively does is show that the resident sheild is up, it does nothing to prove the effectiveness of the antivirus since all antivirus programs can easily be programmed to detect it since it is always the same string of data! Thanks for the link to elitekiller.com for the disabling of the Avira nag screens though!Meh, the lack or inclusion of root-kit detection doesnt bother me much. Why? The problem with root-kits is that once a virus injects a root-kit into your OS kernel it is next to undetectable, so if it doesn't stop the virus it won't detect the root-kit. It gets even worse if you take hyper-visor root-kits into consideration. Prove to me that this is not the case and I will change my mind. moreResolved Question: Best Anti-Virus and Firewall?
Hi guys, I was hoping for some expert advice on this matter. Let me start by saying a few things. - For my internet browser I use Safari, so internet security is not a huge thing for me I'm pretty confident Safari is one of the safest browsers. - I do not mind buying ANYTHING at all, if it works and it gives me maximum protection, I shall buy it. - I already have good Anti-Spyware/Malware, I use premium versions of SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes, since Anti-Spyware programs have no conflict in running together (but I know Anti-virus and firewalls do) So can you point me in the right direction? tell me what is the absolute best. and is this chart any good? http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge/results.php If so it would indicate that Online Armor Personal Firewall is the best you can get. Now onto the biggie! Anti-Virus. Let me tell you this issue has given me no end of rest!, when i first started using PC's i used AVG free, and from then until now I have been using Avast! but since thats run out I want something better. I have on my computer ZoneAlarm Pro which includes Firewall, Anti-Spyware, program control, E-Mail protection, privacy and Identity protection. So my question is, I have been using Malwarebytes for a few years now (free version) to do a quick scan every month and each time I run the scan it picks up on malicious software that has got through any anti virus I have ever used, which includes Eset nod32, Kaspersky anti virus and Bitdefender Anti-virus. My Eset nod 32 will run out tomorrow but as Malwarebytes scan seems more effective than any Anti Virus I have ever used am I safe to purchase the full version to use alongside my Zonealarm pro (still has 9 months subscription), or does Malwarebytes not protect against Virus's. Sorry for the big description.Just to clarify. Malwarebytes does have a real-time scanner and my Zonealarm pro has all E-mail, Spyware, identity, privacy protection.
