Voting Question: Why does my computer keeps asking are you human?

Whenever I open an internet application a window pops up and asks,"are you human?" The box gives you two options, "yes" and "Cancel". However, regardless of the option you choose, the box stays open. I have tried downloading new surfing or internet applications i.e. Fire fox and Google Chrome... This is a temporary solution at best. The new application will work for the first two or three times I surf but shortly there after the window will open asking, "are you human" again. Right now I am getting around it by accessing the internet through my Trend Micro PC Cillian... What I do is click on my anti virus program and choose to upgrade it. This leads me to the internet. I just type in google.com and navigate from there. But I have also run several different scans. I believe it is embedded programming. If I find out anything else I'll post. But this SUCKS!! i recently paid my car off, so before incurring anymore debt, I'm upgrading everything. Got my car a full tune up, switched to full synthetic, got HID headlights and a few other things. New high performance summer tires are on their way. I'm going back to the US to do some clothes shopping. No credit cards, just cash. I'm just about 100% debt free, and now, the grand daddy of them all. My trusty computer. I have been watching Hulu and this thing about Norton Anti-Virus software keeps coming up as the commercials. So my question is, what is the best computer security for me? that question is as broad as it sounds. I know there is like phishing, and spam and Trojans and all that. I need to know what to buy, specifically. Brand names and all. Or just give me some kind of education on what all it does take to make my computer more safe from today's technology. I live in Okinawa, Japan, so going down to Best Buy isn't going to happen. I might make a trip in while I'm back in the US, but i thought I would get information from people that know more about it than a Best Buy employee (no offense, I served my time there too, one Christmas season, years ago. Hello,i've been suffering from this incredibly nerve racking virus called "Anti-Virus Vista 2010" for about a month now. I have a paid subscription version of "Mcafee Security Center",which fails at finding the infection on every single Full scan i have ran. I have also downloaded Spyware Doctor which is talked up to be the best virus detector and all that great stuff,and when i scan with Spyware Doctor it finds the rogue virus,but of course i cant remove it without putting some money into someone pocket,which i have already done with mcafee. Ok. I have a nice computer which i am very fond of because it cost me a lot of money and I bought all the parts separate and set it all up myself. I am big on PC performance so I don't run anti-virus software. I have never had a virus in my life. I don't use my computer for stuff that would infect me. No weird porn, torrents, kazaa, whatever. Anyway, today, the 4th time in the last year, I come home from work to find a note on my keyboard that says sorry that he got a bad virus on my computer again, sorry, blah blah. This time it was internet security 2010, which is a major pain to remove, plus with all the registry changes that trojan makes, who knows the long term damage. I have removed it but here is my dilemma. I work, live, drink, smoke bowls and hang out with my roommate every day(the purpose of that information is to explain our relationship). He's a good friend. I don't want to be a dick, or make it an uncomfortable environment but I am sick of the viruses. I've thought about it and here are some options ive come up with. Can you all help steer me towards to best one, or offer a new option? 1.Ignore it, the virus is removed. Man up, don't be a baby and move on. 2.Password my computer and tell him sorry but i've put too much money into this thing to risk him messing it up. 3.Password my computer and tell him that if he wants to use the computer, go buy some good anti virus software, i'll install it on a seperate user account so it won't have to run when I'm on the computer. ( i have this feeling that if i did this option he would find the crappiest, possibly even free, virus software, never update, and therefore it becomes useless) Just a little side note. And it work like a champ. The only real problem is you have restart your computer go into the registry and disable the virus. This is only temporarily. Because once the computer reboots back up again it will be there. But once you download Microsoft free anti virus and spyware it taken out. So the is info on the web to tell you how turn off programs in the registry. You have to search for diabling the virus in your registry. Good Luck your going to need it. Hi Chaps... Just in the last few days i noticed that when i was downloading torrents on the pc it was very slow. I get around 5-40 kB/s (my max speed 200-220 kB/s) when downloading torrents.I used vuze and utorrent but not that much of a difference.But when i download off websites i get max speed(the speed i should be getting) I then tried downloading the SAME torrent on the mac and it was getting 200kB/s (the best speed for me)..So something is up with the pc..I also scanned for malware but i was clean. I also disabled my firewall/uninstalled anti-virus disabled it etc.But i still get shity speeds when downloading on the pc... Anyone know what i can do? Thanks.. I really appreciate it :) more

All these stupid fake anti virus/spyware things kept popping up and in my task manager something called av.exe kept coming back. Malwarebytes didn't work so I downloaded the non antivirus version of spyware doctor and it actually cleared it up. However, since then everytime I go to open anything up, whether it be firefox or yahoo messenger a window pops up and says "firefox.exe is not a known file please select one of the following: Use the internet to find ways to open file or Select list of programs to open file". It only works if I right click the item and choose "run as administrator" every other way just says windows doesn't recognize it. What can I do for this? Okay, so late lat year, around August/September I got a Dell Mini v10, I believe. A couple days ago, I downloaded a bad file and a nasty virus completely took over my laptop. When I cut it on, it loads partially and takes me to a black screen and does nothing else. It's pretty much shot. I know all about the whole reformatting the hard drive process. 5 hours ago from now i was surfing my browswer and just looking at things. I always pay attention to everything and i make sure I never install anything that's harmful or something i dont trust. Like if i want to install an update or some other stuff I'll always go on the official Microsoft website to do so. I was on google, surfing. I typed in the rarest diablo 2 items (Diablo 2 is an rpg for those who don't know that). And so i looked around, i clicked on a few websites. My computer was fine, then when i finally clicked on a 3rd one ( it was called something like maxfreak) (DO NOT GO ON IT), my firefox browser failed. So i was like, okay this happens every 2 weeks and now. I re-opened my firefox. Everything was still fine. Then on my right, this crap popped up, must install security system, 3000 threats found!) Ok I didn't fall for that so i blocked it because I know that it was an unkown publisher. But even when i ignored it ( i didn't press anything on it or related to it) That crap still coming back, another window popped up. So I started to realize some sh!t was happening. So i moved fast, i quickly turned on my anti virus scan. I made sure my firewall was on, and so i waited untill i could find something. A friend recommended me that i downloaded the latest malwarebytes system. Before I did, my antivirus system started going crazy, I could tell that sh!t was done for, it got infected. So it was a race against time, i couldn't install the malware byes ( anti malware system) my friend uses it, its safe. because apparently the VIRUS wouldn't allow me to install it. So i kept moving on. i installed another program which i knew was safe. I managed to do that, and then i managed to find what was wrong. I had over 300 small viruses, malware and trojans ( by just going onto 1 website). I was scared, seriously, so i did my best i removed everything. My computer went back to normal. I thought it was over? It looked like it, everything was perfect. i clicked again my my firefox.. ERROR CANNOT FIND FILE ERROR. I clicked on one of my games (starcraft, diablo 2) ERROR CANNOT FIND FILE. i clicked on itunesk adope, ANYTHING, nothing is working. So i quickly moved on, i did the recovery system from before when i visited that website. and guess what it finished, and i still got ERROR everywhere. I tried to think what to do, i realized if i right clicked on a program and made it run, adminstator, it would then run!! The virus was still nowhere in sight, i think i deleted it all. But then your probably thinking? Hey why not go on the properties ( and check the box ( run as admin...). Yes i did that, but it still gives me that ERROR. I have to always right click a program to make it start. The exact error text says.. Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. Can someone please help me? I will give you1 best answer if you find solution? I will give you 3 best answer if you help me solve it (finally). How? i will make 2 more question (random and just give you the best answer in the end). Please don't tell me to call microsoft, they aren't going to do crap!! I don't think i can re-install the system, since i upgraded it form windows vista to windows 7. Please help me!! I am not a computer expert! I just got my computer back from repair - they replaced my motherboard, and when I got the computer back all was lost, so basically, I have to start all over again and install my anti-virus, and download/install all of the windows updates... problem is... So a few weeks ago I got a virus from ultimate-guitar.com. Hi, There might be lots of questions on firewall. But then I am not getting the right answer. I am using Unlimited plan with fixed rental. When I download some movies through torrent and when my firewall is enabled, my download speed is not that much good. It states my firewall is enabled and listed port is blocked. They told there is nothing harm in disabling the firewall during download as I am not in limited broadband plan. Resolved Question: Sims 2 please read and Help??????????????????

I'm planning to go buy more Sims 2 games today. I gonna buy Sims 2 best of Business collection and Sims 2 seasons. But my question is can I download them when my computer is infected? I already have the Sims 2 expansion pack, Bon Voyage and Sims University downloaded on my computer. But a couple a months before the file for does games became infected with a virus and couldn't be played but then it started working again after like 2 months. My Anti spyware and thing of that sort had expired and I didn't know and I was downloading the yahoo games and the free dell games that came with my computer and that messed up my computer. So now my computer has many viruses and infections. And I wanna but the bit defender 2010 for my computer protection but it cost like 99 dollars and I don't have that, and I don't think my dad will buy it for the computer at my mom's house(I live with my mom), so will the games work even if the computer is infected badly. more

I already use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as a backup scanner but am looking to buy a all-in-one real-time anti-virus so I can download files without worrying about what will happen if I execute it. I was thinking of buying ESET NOD32 to have on at all times and then Malwarebytes Anti-Malware which I will full-scan my hard-drive with every weekend. more

Voting Question: Adware/Spyware Removal?

My friend's laptop has the Anti virus Soft Platinum installed. This software is preventing any other anti virus program on her computer to work. I have tried to install the AVG free software, but it keeps telling me to uninstall the Anti virus Soft Platinum software, but it doesn't show up in the add/remove programs. I have used windows defender, Microsoft windows malicious software removal tool, and Microsoft security essentials software and none of these programs detected the Anti virus Soft Platinum software. I did download spyware doctor and it scanned the computer and found 100 hits of spyware, but the program will not remove the adware/spyware unless I pay for it. I never brought that kind of software before, usually if I get adware/spyware on my computer I just zap it and reload it. I'm thinking that's the best thing to do for my friend but she really doesn't want me too. So any suggestions would be great. more
