Resolved Question: Computer is messed???????

My computer is messed?!? Its like this: I downloaded an application which probably had a virus. Windows defender popped up but i chose to ignore it(Which was a WAY wrong move, i know) And when I try start my computer, the login screen doesnt show. It says "Starting windows" with the windows logo flashing (I have win7) Then the screen goes blank exept for my cursor, which i can see and move. That is a problem. Then I remembered I had an Ubuntu 9.10 cd in my draw. I pulled it out and booted ubuntu from the cd (Thats why I can write this) . I want to get clam antivirus but in the software center it says "Not available in the current data". How can I get clam?(Remember, im booting off the live cd) more

Voting Question: Can I have 2 installed anti-virus on my system, one running scans only & the other running scans continually?

Ok here is the problems my workhorse is a old Pentium 4 3.0Ghz with 330GB (1 250Gb and 1 80Gb) hard drive space and 1.5GB of ram. Has it for nearly 4 years and been a good computer until recently where i have encountered numerous of problems. Resolved Question: I have a Trojan virus planted in my computer. Can't be deleted. Not even in Safe Mode.No google. DDCBQPNN.dll

The virus is probably latched onto the ram because I couldn't delete it in Safe Mode...Was caught by Clam antivirus...Free Software. Not caught by Trend Micro or Norton. Even when scanned manually. Clam says it's in C:\Windows\system32\ddcBqpnn.dll : Trojan.Vundo-2777 Usually a google search will turn up SOMETHING...This turned up NOTHING...So it makes me feel like it was intentionally made recently...Please anyone with this problem respond. Let's blow the cover off of this one.Thanks a lot...I tried everything and couldn't find out anything about it...I've been into computers for 20 years now and i've seen it all...I fix computers...But this was weird...I posted to warn people about this virus because i believe it was an intentional plant. From who or where is being investigated...As far as the computer...I have totally reformatted it to get it going again but have noticed that it keeps freezing now...whenever I go to open Internet Explorer...Otherwise it's great...But whenever I click on that blue E...forget about it. I've let it sit for 20minutes with the hourglass...but nothing works...except the right click on the desktop and recycle bin...not the start nor the active icons...along with cpu usage being 100%....another mystery. more

Last time, my bro plugged in a device at our computer. You may think it's not in any related to the virus but our computer suddenly got slower after he plugged it. the next day I turned the computer on, I noticed some of those messages that appear if you're gonna install some software. It included "mozilla firefox", and I noticed that it had been, somewhat reinstalled. (because when you open mozilla for the first time, it shows the mozilla page and that message to make mozilla the default browser.) So, what is this kind of virus? Don't tell me it's just software malfunction because our clam antivirus was also disabled. it has to be a virus. but what is it?We had AVG anti-virus before we had clam. I just downloaded it so that it'll do double anti-virus. Oh and it's also installed to our spyware terminator. (if that product has some minor issues, it's alright for me I guess. at least we have anti-spyware.) more

Recently i have been having boot failures and it getting annoying. Its never happeend before in the time i have owned this computer, its custom built, and is running windows xp sp2, ive tried rebuliding the boot files, that didnt work so i reformated (Yuk.) and then i seemed to work fine then i crashed again. So im hopeless. The message says, The file hal.dll is either missing or corrupt. Strangely my sisters computer in the same house, gave the same message a few days later. I dont know what to do this is really weird and im getting a litte frustrated. I nkow its not a virus i have COMODO firewall, Ad-aware se, registry mechanic and even Clam win antivirus. Resolved Question: Why is my computer and internet slow?

Recently(past month or so) my computer has really slowed down. My internet has also decreased horribly. It takes minutes for pages to load. I do have DSL. I have ZoneAlarm Security Suite and have run scans. I have tried to run scans in safe mode but nothing loads. I also have tried to use Clam Win Antivirus but again. Nothing loads. I had Norton Antivirus 10.0 for Mac it worked fine until yesterday when I tried to update it for the latest definitions it went awery and wouldn't apply the latest updates I even re-installed the antivirus and it still didn't work :( I uninstalled Norton and switched to clamx my question is how do I get clam to scan the entire computer at once instead of scanning only one specific folder at a time (major pain) Also is there a way I could an enable auto protect feature like Norton has? more

Resolved Question: Internet Explorer doesnt allow me to access web pages?

My 30 day kasparov liscence expired and after uninstalling it all web pages features, like typing boxes like this one do not work, clicking any links do not work and anything on a web page that has a next 1...2...etc takes me back to the top of the same page. I have disabled my firewall entirely and enabled it entirely but the results are the same, I installed Internet Explorer 7, results are the same. Firefox browser works perfectly but I cannot do a search in my computer either, the dog comes out but there are no boxes allowing me to type a search in (this is in Windows Explorer) All my windows updates are done via ms web page, I use Ewido anti spyware and Spyware Terminator, Clam anti virus and AVG free antivirus all running at the same time, when disabling each of the other the results are the same, when disabling all the results are still the same.
