Free Trend Micro Anti Virus Questions asked

Open Question: Hey need a little more help. Security tool virus is still trippin on my pc.?

.Back story: I downloaded some game, got Security Tool virus and maybe others. Did some research, read I should download a security scan, then, malwarebytes, then antis-pyware, or try to manually remove the virus(es) or buy anti-spyware/removal like AVG and let them do it. Well first I tried downloading a scan and malwarebytes, but only after restarting my computer in safe mode was I able to run the programs. Then I did a system restore.????? And no sign of the virus but I wonder if u do that, does Security Tool reallly completely go away? and not show up disguised with its files. Anyway I did the first two steps,(wish I knew how to it manually do it) Now recently took my hp windows 7 desktop to geek sqaud (because of security tool,) They ran a free diognostics and said they found some viruses, and wanted me to pay 200 dollars for them to fix it. I said no cause I would like to fix it manually first, then if that don't work, buy good, fairly inexpensive security software with nice warranty/coverage/and support and that won't slow down my pc.But I also read I would have to Disguise/change the new securtiy program or files to prevent any viruses from detecting and blocking it? ls this neccasary? If so how do I it? (And will TREND MICRO ANTIVIRUS + ATISPYWARE CD work.) Hey need a little more help.THANK YOU! more

Resolved Question: Can I use Avast and Trend Micro internet security together?

I've been having Avast and Comodo on my computer for a while, and I hate Comodo. Today, a relative of mine bought Trend Micro Internet Security (which allows usage for up to 3 computers) for his new laptop, and asked if I would like to use it to replace Comodo. So, will I have to uninstall Avast free edition, or can I use both of them? Is Trend Micro just a firewall or does it also have anti virus protection? When my nephew and I were at Best Buy asking the computer section employees, they seemed very uneducated and kept giving us different answers on this subject.Oh, I see that everyone is saying the same thing about Avast and Trend Micro. So I guess that I'll just upgrade my Avast to the Avast Internet Security, instead of using the Trend Micro. And I did find it very suspicious that the Best Buy folks were so intent on getting us to buy the Trend Micro. They all gave different answers, and most of them were wrong, too. Like, they told us that the windows firewall is a "VERY good firewall" when I know darn straight that its not! more

Resolved Question: What is the best free anti-virus program to download?

My Anti-virus program subscription service with Trend Micro recently expired and I need to update my protection. I don't want to pay $50 for a year of service unless I absolutely have to. What are the best free anti-virus programs or combination of free programs that would keep my computer protected just as good as anything I pay for? more

Resolved Question: Help!!! windows 7 activation problem.?

ok so here is the story. baught a asus ul50tv from bestbuy. works great and all but once my trend micro internet security trial ran out is when the problem started. every time i would try to install another freeware antivirus like avg free or avira anti virus it would keep saying conflict in software unistall trend micro. but the program was stubborn and wouldnt unistall. after weeks of trying everything that i could do to unistall it someone suggested that i just use my desktop windows 7 disc to reinstall windows and wipe my laptop. made a image disc just in case things didnt work out. lost it. now im stuck with a laptop that says "windows 7 build 7600 this copy of windows is not genuine" what are my options to undo this and what are the risks of not doing anything? can i just reinstall windows again and activate it cause i read somewhere that there is a certian update that checks your OS . and last question if i call windows will i get introuble and be stuck with this until i save up to buy another copy or will they understand and let me activate my original windows 7 copy that came with the laptop. cause neither the product key on my laptop or the one on my desktop will be accepted by windows activation. more

Resolved Question: Big computer problem. please help!?

I have Trend Micro Anti-Virus (a cd that was bought) and it sometimes tells me that theyve blocked a virus and normally I would go to the file location and follow their instructions on deleting the infected file. Ive been virus free for a long time while using Trend Micro, but today we get a call from our cable company that one of the computers in my house has a virus. Theres 2 laptops and a desktop. The 2 laptops are fairly new and our desktop is about 6 yrs old. The desktop has had viruses in the past but a computer technician reformatted the computer and put windows 7 on it which expired a month later and were still stuck with a non-genuine windows. Im thinking this is the problem because windows security is not on. But my main concern is, why does Trend Micro tell me my computer is virus free when our cable provider told us there was a virus? Any other way i can tell if i have a virus for free? Im on an extremely tight budget and anything free can help so much. if anyone needs a hijack this log let me know. Thanks. more

Voting Question: Virus on a laptop prevents you from downloading anti-virus, can anyone help?

Okay, so my friend let me try and fix his laptop and so i cleared out a bunch of unwanted programs that were just basic things, like an old calculator application, and some random game downloads and such. Well, he got this virus it appears from a modding website that we were trying to work. So now he gave the laptop to me and i was gonna try and download Trend Micro PC Pro but it say that his laptop doesn't fit the criteria. His laptop is running Windows XP 2002 version with Service Pack 3 but even though its already updated on that part fully (there are only 3 service packs) its still will not let me download any the software so i think i need to update it to a higher model, so my choices are either Windows 7 or Windows Vista. WELL HERE'S THE PROBLEM, i go to download, from the microsoft official website, anything that may help update his laptop and allow me to download some help, turns out every time i go to download "anything" and i mean "ANYTHING" it will redirect me to a basic "web page not found" or one of those "HTML40 something not working" and there are some other different ones i get. I know im connected to the internet so im sure that its the virus that is preventing me from downloading anything. I've already restored the system this time making sure not to clean out any programs that may help with downloads but it still isn't progressing anything. Does anyone have any idea what to do? I just spent the last 14 hours working on this thing but i've only taken Computer Applications 1 when a High-school Freshman so i Absolutely no clue, im afraid im gonna be forced to randomly delete things that look foreign until something works and i don't want to do that. If you do have a solution can you please recommend some good FREE anti-virus software that i may download if i still can't get the right requirments for the Trend Software? I know about AVG, some friend of mine told me of some Anti-Virus Doctor thing, and peopel say Nortons good but i dont know if they have free downloads. Thanks a whole bunch to everyone who can help! more

Resolved Question: Best free Internet security, anti-virus, and anti-spyware?

Voting Question: Computer is still slow. Can someone help me figure this out?

Okay so I know a lot about computers, especially mine. It's a little old. Its a LG Flatron M1710S Screen with a HP Pavillion a1220n monitor which contains 512 MB memory and 200 GB hard drive space. (I know i should add more memory, but money is a bit short) and it is running windows 7 professional. (a computer technician who removed a virus and re-did my whole computer for me installed it) Since then, I have bought very good and well known products to keep my computer clean and protected, after he re-did my computer, and it was running great. It has been almost 8 months now and all of a sudden my computer has been acting whacky and is giving me all sorts of problems. A list of products as well as a Hijack this Log I will provide for you. (All of them are the Full versions - nothing was free) - Trend Micro Antivirus - Registry mechanic - Spybot Search & Destroy - Windows washer - Ccleaner - Hijack This - Malwarebytes Anti - Malware Hijack This Log (which i have provided in my website page): elleayelyts.com/log.php Can anyone see something that I cant? Resolved Question: What about iobit security 360 free not upgrade, any good, I never knew it was there for free malware scanner?

like superantispyware or malwarebytes anti-malware real time scan for free and nobody reccomends things that are free I mean can't find pages for security that list all there is like for real time that is free all want money makers like virus scanners but i think free ones are best cos they are leightweight and maybe offer less security over heavy but choice is light over heavy even with risks there are but I never get too bad my comp clean all the time only somehow sometimes something gets through but thats really rare, and i was using avast before till it broke i mean didnt stop one fake virus software from attack out of ie page so i decided it's no good avast and migrated to avira antivir which is fast and now got ahead heuristicks protection and other for free and iobit real time malware protection using free but avira catches things and iobit360 does not catch anything so i suppose that free version it so poor only get real catching adter paying that is something to consider, and those softwares like trend micro slows internet two time so i stick with fast ones which avira antivir is even if you buy it it's not gonna improve catching more

Resolved Question: why is my computer is f-d up?

i have norton anti virus anti spy internet security. etc. and my computer freezes alot i am literally scanning my COMPUTER every hour, once scanned it runs fine then about an hour it freezes, then i scan again im f-ing tired of it. one says i have a malware that hides and pops out and is undetected by scans, and the only way to remove it is to start over delete every thing on computer. theres got to be a better way. i seen some anti malware programs is it good to have norton and an anti malware, cause i know i used to have micro trend before and they got crazy if i tried to download another software, if so what is the best way for me to handle this problem plus have anybody heard anything good about doublemyspeed.com they did a free scan and said i had 908 errors they wanted to fix it for $80.00, sounds fishy couldn't commit to that, what do you guys think please help thanks more

Resolved Question: Why does my antispyware display another antispyware program of mine as a threat?

I recently downloaded Spyware Doctor and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and as I'm having my computer scanned the displayed results indicated that Spyware Doctor is a threat and at the same time on my other anti-malware program, Trend Micro's HiJack This Anti-Malware, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is a threat too as displayed on its results. I downloaded them free from download.cnet.com and I'm very much confused what's going on and could it be a work of a virus trying to somehow mix and complicate things up? **I scanned my computer and one of the results displays a "disable antivirus"- virus from my H-KEY part or something like that. Could that also be the reason and what am I suppose to do then? I can't run my AVG AntiVirus either... really complicated. Thanks in advance. I'm not that much of a computer geek or genius so sorry anyways. more

Resolved Question: Good freeware programs to protect computer?

What's a bunch of good freeware programs to protect my laptop? I've had a bunch of problems with my Dell inspiron-- everything from trojan horses, spyware, corrupt registries, crashing browsers, and I'm pretty sick of it. I don't use limewire or that stuff-- I have Trend Micro Officescan client, superanti spyware and spybot, as well as Eusing free registry cleaner (as of maybe half an hour ago). Like I said, I have a Dell inspiron 1525, Windows Vista for home. Are there any good FREE anti-malware, anti-adware (I don't typically get ads- I use Google Chrome, which crashes a fair bit, Firefox, and Internet Explorer), more anti-spyware, etc. or anything along those lines. I don't want to wait until I have a problem, spend forever finding the solution, just to know that I could have prevented it. Thanks. PS- It would really help if the programs didn't have any nasty stuff attached onto it-- no point in getting an anti-spyware program only to have a bunch of viruses that tagged along. more

Resolved Question: How do I uninstall one computer security program for another?

Probably a stupid question, but how do I uninstall my Trend Micro Trial and install the ZoneAlarm Extreme Trial? http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-gb/anti-virus-spyware-free-download.htm Do I literally just find a file in the Trend Micro folder called "uninstall" and then install the other program? Resolved Question: Could playing "PC video-games" potentially harm my comp.?

Ok, so I've been playing Age of Empires III for a while already (a year may be) and I'm wondering if that's the reason why my Laptop is slowing down in pretty much everything. The processor requirement for the game is of at least 1.4 GHz and my laptop has 2,0Ghz. (although it says that it is not powerful enough). I got 136 Gb free out of 220.. i checked for any viruses (Trend Micro Anti virus) but even after the cleanup (viruses) my laptop is still slow (internet connection, downloading, etc...) more

Resolved Question: What's wrong with my computer?

Recently I have been having issues with my computer. It started when I was playing the R.U.S.E beta. The game closed out by itself and the cursor started moving around my screen by itself. I just thought my computer was being stupid until it opened up microsoft word which scared the shit out of me so I unplugged it from the wall. I haven't had anything like that happen again but I've been noticing that every time I start my computer up my desktop icons have been moved around. Last week I saw that my anti-virus (Trend Micro) had been disabled as well as the ones that come with Windows. I've run every free virus scan that I can find and have found nothing. Today I was reading this on CNN "http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/03/28/greene.email.scam/index.html?iref=allsearch" and after reading "Someone had electronically broken into his computer.." I'm now wondering if this may be the case? So far none of my passwords have been changed but nothing else makes sense. I haven't downloaded any music recently and I don't remember opening any type of attatchments. Any ideas? Any and all help appreciated. Thanks.1. This has been going on for a few weeks now. Even before I started the beta. 2. How is a beta going to screw up the rest of my computer? The machine is less then a year old, it is a custom built machine. I ran all of those programs and still nothing. I keep having files go missing and my icons being rearranged. I even noticed today that a few of my files had their names canged. more

Resolved Question: Question about "Secure Logon" (CTRL + ALT + DELETE) and anti-malware programs....?

I have a Vista laptop, and I want to make it as secure as possible (I am so afraid to go on any sites other than things like my university's student webpage, wikipedia, and yahoo answers, etc. Even tmz.com I'm afraid of, LOL) because my old computer got infested with viruses and completely crashed, most likely due to my mother clicking on ads. Anyway, I want to know the purpose of the "Secure Logon" (CTRL + ALT + DELETE) please. My uni's computers make us do this... is there any advantage of doing it on my home laptop too? Also, as far as antimalwares go, which of these is the best: McAfee, Norton, ESET, Kapersky, Trend Micro, or Bit Defender? I'm talking about the full 'security suite' versions, i.e. with the firewalls, antispyware if available, etc., so not just the antiVIRUS. I don't really feel comfortable using the free ones.... Resolved Question: Google Link Hijacking Please READ!?

Ok im getting the old link hikjacking from google search results.. BUT, not only does it re-direct me to a advertisments page, it also opens another Mozilla Firefox page, usually with my past search queries in the adress bar and a few other tabs. Also my computer is running, well, like ****. somethings close all the time or stop responding. BIG NOTE: SYSTEM RESTORE WONT WORK!, I keep getting, "System Restore has encountered a unexpected error and did not restore your system file and settings" or something Plus, My computer didn't come with vista disks so i cant clean install. Example of Problem: Search - Modern Warefare 2 One of the tabs - www.modernwarfare2.com other tabs - cliccker.com, tax accounting(?), loose weight fast(?) Key: (?) = Didn't search. So far I used a "few" virus and spyware scans. Norton 360 PE Ad-Aware Microsoft Security Essentials SpyNoMore Spybot S+D MalwareBytes Anti-Malware ComboFix + Inscructions FOR cliccker virus SUPER Anti-Spyware CCleaner (incase of bad cookie) Avast! Home Avast! Malware cleaner thing Avira Anti Virus Some batch file Cliccker remover (Thought it worked but obviously not) AVG Free Edition Also ive done a few online scans. Note: All applicable scans have been done in safe mode. Resolved Question: How do I uninstall Trend Micro USB Security on my Transcend Flash Drive?

I just bought a JetFlash from Transcend that has a Trend Micro USB Security pre-installed. I thought the anti-virus would be some help to keep my wares virus-free but it's causing me a headache! I use 2 computers: one PC and one Mac. Though I can use the flash drive on my PC, I found out today that I can't use it on my Mac. Such a drag. I guess there's some sort of partition on the drive (Every time I plug it in, my PC registers 2 removable hardwares.). Don't know how to delete it though. Can't find an uninstall.exe on the drive either. Thanks for the help!I tried reformatting with My Computer and Right-click Format Option but it didn't work. I tried using Disk Management too. That didn't work either. more

Resolved Question: Why is my computer acting up? PLEASE HELP, ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I have a laptop from Acer. No recovery disk, I can't make one because the system will give me an error. Windows word doesn't work, I get an error, My video games will not work for more than a few seconds before the program stop working. Movie maker works only half the time. IE doesn't work at all, I have to use Firefox or nothing. There are absolutly NO viruses or adware/sypware/malware/rootkits detected by either AVG Avira Mcafee Norton antivirus Avast Spybot search and destroy Ad-aware Spyware terminator Super anti spyware Trend micro scan Windows live virus scan ASC virus scan. AVG anti rootkit. Windows defender They all come up with basically the same answer, no detection. But my computer has been infected in the past, but I got rid of the Virus with Avira. I thought maybe the virus/trojan came back and so I rescanned. I got nothing. Nothing nothing nothing. It drives me crazy. I got CC cleaner to scan cor errors and it "supposedly fixes them, yeah right" It detects stuff and fixes them, then after a day or so, they come back. I used the start up check "the only real error checking thing i could find on here" It says there are no errors" How can I get an Acer Aspire 4730z recovery disk? The company wants $20 through a credit card, I have no credit card, and I really cant afford $20 when they are supposed to give you one for free, and the one I made doesn't work. Also some of my keys on my keyboard don't work either. more

Resolved Question: Why can't I get rid of F-Secure?

So, here's the deal. Besides the fact that I have a junk IBM laptop, the worst part is that it came equipped with F-Secure anti-virus. Now, about a month ago or more, I downloaded Trend Micro's PC-Cillin anti-virus software, but I made a boo boo and forgot to uninstall F-Secure first. I know, my bad! But, now when I go to add/remove programs, it says a whole bunch of mumbo jumbo about restarting and trying again, but the "detailed description" states that "uninstallation is not allowed by current policy settings." What does this mean? I've already tried restarting (which I know is stupid because I know that simply restarting a computer isn't going to change these policy settings) and I've tried finding a removal tool from F-Secure's website. Please don't tell me I'm stuck with it and I am not getting rid of PC-Cillin because it's awesome and my computer is virus-free. It's just slow as hell because I have two anti-virus systems running simultaneously. Please help! more

Resolved Question: I seriously need help..?

Well its been about a month now that a virus has entered my system. I couldnt fix it because i didnt have time.I just had someone installed an anti-virus program, yesterday. And whats strange is that i just checked it now and it tells me that it has been disabled.I thought the virus had somehow gone away, since that anti-virus program has been installed. Apparently not. My old account got suspended (from y!a), so the only use i can make out of it is anything besides Y!a. I havent used it in a while, because there is no use to it.. I just checked my old email account today and i have 3 emails from yahoo groups, its something related to sexwebcams. I never use that account. And those emails are sayin that i need to confirm them because i requested them.I never did. And this has happended before, once.I accidently clicked on it( and i learned from that mistake) to see what it was about. Doing that caused it to get in my computer.Someone also threatened me that,( they are supposedly cops), and that they have been tracking my "porn" activity. Lol, i dont get it, because i couldn't see anything related to videos, since my add-ons were disabled, due to the virus. So there is no way in hell that is true. I know i shouldnt worry about it, but they said they would come to my house with a search warrant to arrest me. I have 2 anti-virus programs installed. I heard that it doesnt work out that well for anyone, but i havent uninstalled the old one yet. I have Trend micro PC-cillin Internet security. The new one i just had installed is AVG Anti-virus free I currently use Wi-Fi. And all the time i have intruders connected in my network. Its ******* annoying, and i dont have a clue what to do. They give me the IP address and MAC address..So i click to add exception( to permantly blocked them) but it tells me its unable to add the exception/rule. And i use a site where i can see where that IP address is located at and who its coming from. it says that its private and wont let me know who/where its coming from. I also am wondering if someone stole my IP address. And how can i know? And who did it? I just need help, and what to do. I would appreciate the help.this is on my old account.. i had 3 of those and they werent marked as spam.ok i see..... more

Resolved Question: I can find the IP address in an e-mail header. What about a web page?

Is there a way I can check the IP address of a web page I am viewing from within internet explorer? or any other browser? Can I find out if and where I'm being redirected? The reason I ask is I cannot view us.mcafee.com (I get a 501 error), and McAfee anti virus keeps giving update errors. I've run other online free scans like trend micro housecall that find nothing.I know about ping, but that is outside of IE. When I see an error page, how do I know where it's REALLY coming from? Because I know for a fact - by going to the same place on another computer - that the page is fully functional. more
