Well i don't know why but a pop up keeps popping up saying that my computer is infected and i have done some researching and found that it is a fake message which is getting on my nerves because i can't open anything at all except the internet. i have tried to download free Norton antivirus trials but like i said it wont open but instead it just says it is infected and wont open. what do i do, the only thing i know is to re format my computer, i am using windows 7.P.S i am not running any antivirus programs as i cant stand them and my computer has been working fine for about 7-8 months without any antivirus programs. more

I just wonder, the IT guys at school reccomended me Avast! Free antivirus because my norton trial was about to run out on my new laptop. I have had avast free for a few months now and our trend micro pro (ughh) on our home pc is about to runt out, so I downloaded and installed Avast free. I have a year of norton antivirus 2009 or 2010 ( not sure ) and in a few months it will expire. My system did a full scan and I have about three different trojans that were quarantined/blocked. My laptop came with a free trial of Norton Anti virus, which is about to expire. I've really had an awesome experience with them~ in the past, I've had Avast's free residential antiviral program installed on my desk top, and I was constantly getting viruses and malware. I know a lot of people talk about Norton negatively, but its kept my syste, cleaner than anything I've ever tried. I need to find a good, FREE, residential anti virus program for my laptop. I've had so many bad experiences and heard so many horror stories about programs claiming to be free antiviral software, yet they end up being viruses/malware/etc themselves. Can anyone speak on behalf of some residential free anti virus programs? Positive and negative comments welcomed and greatly appreciated, but PLEASE have 1st hand experience with said program~ not "my friend once..." or "I've heard...", "I know my (uncle, mom, dad, sister. cousin, friend) tried... " I am ISO people who've actually used the program~ while your help is appreciated, it's not much use if you can't speak for it yourself. Also~ DONT SPAM ME PLEASE!!!!! About 4 months ago I purchased a net book, at Walmart, for a really good price $228.00. It is from E-Machines. Here's a rundown: 1. It's a fairly good machine for the most part 2. Has Windows 7.0 3. Internet: Often times when I try to get a wireless signal from a Netgear router, the Internet Icon on the bottom will have a yellow X and it will display NET GEAR, SIGNAM EXCELLENT, NO INTERNET SERVICE. I have to keep turning it on and off and it's a game. Sometimes it says Internet Signal, other times it doesn't. Many times I have to do a Restore. 4. It gets pretty warm 5. Norton Antivirus won't complete. I don't have a virus software running. I don't have the money right now. Is there any free-trials for virus programs? I tried using another Router, but the Cisco one won't work. It makes the wired computer VERY SLOW and keeps saying Locating router. This is the only one that works. We also have VOIP connected to the computer downstairs. THANKS!!!!!!! PS : I am wondering if the Internet goes out because my router isn't password protected? Hello, recently, something has happened to my computer. When I start up the computer, i get this message in a pop up entitled RUNDLL, and it says: Error loading C:/WINDOWS/uruxasuxomod.dll Access is denied. Also, whenever I try to download something, for example: the trial versions of Zoo Tycoon 2 or lime wire, there seems to be a problem with it and they cannot download. I think that this might have to do with this pop up, which I think is a bug, or was caused by a bug. Now, I cannot afford to get my computer fixed so I need something I can like do just on the computer, or buy to fix this. Resolved Question: Why can't I connect to the internet?

A few days ago, my Norton Internet Security expired. Since then, I've had trouble connecting to the internet. I uninstalled it and then installed Norton AntiVirus thinking that installing another Norton product would fix the problem. Now, my computer is showing an internet connection, but I can't actually connect. I've turned off and on the wireless adapter, and I've used the Windows diagnose and repair tool that tries to find the problem, but I've been unsuccessful. The diagnose and repair option also tried to reset my IP settings, but was unable to. The other laptops and computers in my house are able to connect to the internet just fine. I'm on an HP laptop running Windows Vista. The Norton Internet Security that was on my laptop wasn't the free trial that came with the laptop, it was one I bought. The PC came with a short trial of Norton but that is expired and I don't want to renew it - would like to use what comes with Windows Vista Home Premium if that is enough. Or download free software. But my first question is.... do I need anything else or am I safe with only what comes with Windows Vista Home Premium? If I check the "Security Center" it tells me I have the following: Windows Firewall - ON (Norton option is OFF) Malware Protection - Antivirus - seems to be none now that Norton Anitvirus is OFF Malware Protection - Spyware and other malware protection - Windows Defender is ON (Norton option is OFF) So does that mean I have no virus protection at all right now? It seems there is additional free antivirus and malware software there that I can download. Should I add this? So, I bought a brand new HP laptop computer in November and it came with some free trials. A 2-month trial for Bit defender Anti virus 2010 and a 2 month trial for Norton Internet security. I recently lost my Norton Antivirus trial and got Mcafee for my computer. Purchased at Walmart and installed five days ago. Since installing it, my sites load slowly, videos rarely load and it takes forever just to listen to a song on a myspace page. Also, my applications on facebook no longer load. I was looking at my Mcafee and it says that the update manager uses 55% of my bandwidth per day. Apparently, after my antivirus expired, Desktop Defender 2010, an adware, just came in and killed my laptop. The screen is all black, and all that comes up is a popup screen that I can't close. So I got a new computer yesterday, I have a Norton 360 disk at home and tried installing it. It installed alright but after I ran the live update, I got a BSOD. I went in using safe mode, uninstalled the Norton 360 and did a factory restore. I did a bunch of updates on the drivers and everything seems to be fine now. I then tried setting up Norton again, but this time I downloaded a free trial and planned on activating it with the product key that I have. So I register for a 30 day trial and when it had finished installing I entered information and stuff using the same email I use for the My Norton account. Anyway, the Norton loads up and says that I have 366 days of service left. I double check my credit card to see if I was charged (I'll check again tomorrow) but as of right now it seems I've been given free antivirus for a year.The last time I did the trial/product key method it said I only had 30 days on the subscription. Is this too good to be true or what? more

I have Norton AntiVirus, and it's a free trial of Version 360. This version of Norton apparently "Increases computer performance by identifying trusted files that do not require scanning." Before my hard drive burnt out (in which I had used up about 200 gigs,) I had the Norton Internet Security, which ran full system scans of approximately 250,000 files in about 20--30 minutes. On my current computer, I've used up about 25 gigs, so full system scans scan less than 100,000 files, while Drive Scans scan much over that amount. I have Windows 7, and had Windows Vista before my computer burned out. I'm just confused about the FULL part of the Full System Scan. Shouldn't it include the drivers? Thanks! more
