My mother recently bought the new antivirus for our laptop and I installed it. Well something happened and my uncle erased everything from the laptop. I have Trend Micro and it's a disaster, before I had Panda, AVG and Norton just to loose 3 computers.... I hate them all!! I have a Windows 7 Vista Labtop and its brand is TOSHIBA. I cannot access anything on the internet for some strange reason, always showing up with a "The connection was interrupted" screen on Mozilla Firefox. I have attempted Google Chrome as well as Internet Explorer already but they all had the same result. I do have internet connection (B4Q2C) and I have tried restarting my labtop several times, but with no effect. The backup seems not to be working, so I cannot use a backup either to fix this problem. [I'm on a different computer right now, but I prefer to use my labtop]The only thing that seems to work with it is applications that were installed [apps] but besides that, nothing really works.Don't know if its a latptop or labtop, I'm assuming I used the wrong word for it, otherwise, I don't know what a latptop is. :pI also know that its not a problem with the firewall because currently all firewalls are offline on it. And I know its not a recently installed antivirus program because I've never installed any recent ones, the only ones I have is still Avast Antivirus, Scotty, and possibly Mcaffee. I have a program also named PC Speed, I don't know what its supposed to be helping with but I'm suspecting that could be why. And I can't use System Restore either because all available points in time to restore to are while I have been dealing with this problem, it only gave 3/6/13, 3/7/13, and 3/8/13, and this problem began during December of 2012 I believe. more

Resolved Question: Computer slowing down when Im trying to watch a video?

Okay, so when Im on my PC (quad core processor, 8gb ram, good graphics card, in 3 years of use never had this problem before), after about 10 minutes of watching a video, the computer will start going very slow, the cpu usage will go up to 75% and ram will go up a bit, and the video is really jerky and annoying. So I check speedtest.net during this period, and the internet is really slow as well, but only on this computer, every other computer in the house is unaffected, and theres better and worse computers. I've tried registry cleaners, anti virus, turning my pc off and on again, deleting stuff, anti virus, turning my router off and on again, clearing my cache and trying other browsers, none of them work. Im not willing to reset my PC, because I just did that a couple of months ago and if I have to again I gotta say thats BS. Any help? Please help.To prevent virus atleast form now i have installed Tune up utilities 2013 and Malwarebytes Anti malware softwares and these softwares are working fine. Resolved Question: Why does my laptop lag when doing simple tasks?

I have a new laptop, Toshiba Satellite with AMD E-300 dual core processor 1.3Ghz, 4GB, AMD Radeon 6310 Graphics ~ (386 MB dedicated + 1500MB shared, total:~1900 MB graphics memory), Windows 7 ultimate. There is a frequent lag in laptop as well as sudden sharp spikes in performance, as if the overall performance is not consistent, but comes in bursts. The memory usages of browsers (Ive tested many) are very high (~300 - 500 MB) and CPU utilization very often goes to 70-80%. If i open few applications at once, then some times the usage goes to 100% and all applications crash at once/computer hangs indefinitely. 720p and Full hd videos are easily played by windows media player; but any other player, like VLC cannot play them without significant lag and fluttering. Sometimes, even with word processor applications like MSword, there is significant lag while typing (the typed characters appear after a few seconds). There is a lag with general mouse click/tap/type co-ordination as well. The original Laptop came with Windows 8 but since i am at ease with windows 7, i installed a copy of it on a new hard-drive for use, but that shouldn't matter. I use CCleaner regularly, as well do defragmentation, wipe disk and clean/fix registry errors. I dont see any driverless device in the device manager, or any disk/drive errors so everything w.r.t software is fine. I use a light antivirus like panda cloud /Avira antivir (free edition), no spyware software, there are very few applications at start-up but then there is absolutely no problem with start-up, shutdown times (its quick). How do i fix this?@ 2nd answer, there are no malware applications as i see only normal windows processes running in the task manager. The normal usage is about 5%, 1100MB utilization but the issue is performance spikes and lag. more

So I got a new computer around Christmas and I still don't have a virus protection program on it, or anything like that. I did have Norton but I got rid of it soon after since I hear it's notorious for not really doing anything. I also have a program called Windows Advanced System Protector but I have a very strong feeling it's not really doing anything either? My mom says she can get McAfee on my computer through our cable/telephone/Internet company but I hear that's also one of the less quality programs. Are there any antivirus programs out there that actually do their job? I've read some articles about programs but they all seem older than 3 years and I was hoping I could find someone with some more up-to-date knowledge about what's good and what isn't. I'd also like to know if the programs you suggest are free or not (what I find is that most aren't?), but I feel that the ones that charge you are crap programs anyway! Voting Question: Why is Panda Cloud Antivirus blocking web pages when its never been installed?

I have never installed it. No one else has used this computer. It does not show up in program files. It does not show up in the Add Remove programs list. It does not show up as a process. I have searched the C drive for "panda" and there is nothing found. When I use the security center to do updates and Internet Explorer opens windowsupdate.com the page is replaced with "Panda Cloud Antivirus", The page has been blocked as it contains malware or exploits", Your antivirus or security product did not protect you from this malicious page. Protect yourself with Panda Cloud Antivirus", "Download now" etc. The page offers an option to click a box that says " I understand that visiting the page could infect my computer" and continue but then it blocks the rest of the update process without an opt out option. Microsoft Security Essentials can't download updates now either, I believe because Panda is blocking it too. I have looked online for answers and a couple other people have had the same thing in May/August but nobody has offered workable advice. Partly because they don't believe that it wasn't installed by the computer owner and because Panda is supposed to be a reputable company and everybody raves about how wonderful it is. They just say to uninstall it but THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO UNINSTALL and it has NEVER BEEN INSTALLED. The people that have had this problem have tried all sorts of anti-malware programs to try and fix it but the anti-malware programs never find a threat. Has anybody seen and dealt with this before? This started when my computer started freezing during Windows boot and I did a system repair with the recovery disk. Its a disk I've used a few times before without issue. Of course after doing the repair all of the windows updates have been replaced with original system files so I need to do updates again. I'm sure as I continue to use the internet I'll find more sites blocked by this whatever it is. PS. I don't visit THOSE kind of sites, click on suspect links or open untrusted attachments. A few months ago my computer got attacked - or crashed - or something. I fixed most of the problems that I could see, because though I can navigate through a computer, I'm definitely no expert. A few problems I've noted since then is that everything runs a lot slower, which I'd imagine would be expected, and I have no background on my screen. I can change the colors and the window bar (I have Windows 7), but that's it. Hi guys, recently i have torrented a visual novel called Kanon. It is in .7z format. According to the instructions of the guy who cr8ed the torrent, I'm suppose to patch Kanon programe files with the english patch and voice patches using REALIVE.exe. Follow me so far? Now here's the problem: My goddamned antivirus Panda Global Protection 2012 keeps neutralizing the REALIVE.exe file after I decompressed it(it's in .7z format). Panda GP claims that it is a virus, and i can't even find the file in quarantine. I'm very positive that the patch file REALIVE.exe is not a virus.Patch programes do similar things to computer viruses, like reaching into other files and modifying them, hence Panda GP keeps flagging it as a virus. So how can i get Panda to stop deleting REALIVE.exe after i decompressed it? more

Voting Question: My computer runs great on start-up but slows down dramatically?

For the longest time I've been trying to play World of Warcraft but I always had one issue after another with my computer. First the power-supply burnt out, then I had to get a higher quality video card, then suddenly my internet was the issue. I bought a new modem recently and saw no changes in my computer but changes in everyone elses internet in my house. I then decided that my Wifi Adapter (installed inside the computer, not USB) could be the problem. I bought a USB Wifi Adapter recently, and my internet issues were gone. Only issue is, after I installed the software required to run it and updated World of Warcraft, now my computer gets slow anywhere from 30 min - 2 hours after start up. It's very abrupt, it will run great then suddenly act like it's from 1998. I tried defragmenting my hard drive, ran Panda Cloud Antivirus and Malware Bytes, removed a few viruses but now it's still doing it. Any solutions?Sorry, should have been more clear. My computer isn't acting as a gateway, it's not hooked up directly into the router/modem, it's wireless.It's not just the internet though. MY computer as a whole slows down. Can't open any windows or any programs without it taking forever. more

I am disabled and making 50% of my income. I have 2 computers. Right now I don't have any anti virus protection. My laptop computer is having major problems. On the internet ut keeps freezing and needs to re- close. The computers comes with Norton. Should I use that or find another program? more

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop and it has random audio ads in the background. I've restarted my computer, deleted Internet Explorer and downloaded Mozilla. None of the antivirus searches I've done have found anything. Can someone help? Please and thank you. more

Just got a new netbook for college, but what anti virus software shall i buy that doesn't take up a lot of ram as it only has 1gb.. Any ideas? more
