Resolved Question: How do you totally remove Norton Anti Virus and Symantec?
( as in an advanced removal tool ) moreResolved Question: So Security Tool is destroying my computer?
I'm not sure how but a program named "security tool" is in my computer and I can't kill it. I've tried safe mode but it crashes my computer, I've tried system restore but it doesn't work, I put in random fake numbers in the register for the "security tool" to at least get my desktop back. Now that I have, I need to learn how to completely remove it before it f**ks me up again. I am using a "security tool removal" walkthrough from my anti-virus system "Symantec Endpoint Protection" and it tool me to turn system restore off, update symantec, scan it and remove its files, and delete it from the computer registry. I did all of this but Security Tool is still here, does anyone have any tips. Also don't tell me to download Malewarebites or System doctor because either they didn't help at all or I couldn't download them. Sorry for this long problem but im just a kid and I need help. moreResolved Question: I have a problem with an Adware called Webhancer, it's in a folder called System Volume Information?
I deleted it from my computer, and them I removed it from my recycle bin but now it's in a folder called System volume information in the restore area, I tried using the instructions on the Microsoft website to access it but it didn't work, so is it still a threat if it's in the system volume information? Oh I also used the Symantec Webhancer removal tool and it said my system doesn't have Webhancer but my anti-virus says it's in the system volume information. Oh and for some strange reason system restore doesn't work. How do I get rid of Webhancer, is it dangerous if it's in the system volume information moreResolved Question: I got this virus/worm in my computer and I can't get it out?

Symantec had a bunch of win32 ones but not for brontok moreResolved Question: Windows XP problem. Please Help!?
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3. I think I may have gotten some bad mojo, but I've beat the s#|t out of my computer with anti-virus: Malwarebytes' SUPERAntiSpyware Malicious Software Removal Tool Windows Defender AVG Free 8.5 Symantec Stinger Various Conficker Removal Tools I've ascertained that Conficker is not my problem. One unusual symptom still exists even though I believe everything is gone. Windows won't let me open a new, user-controlled shell, or open or edit Windows Batch files. When ever I try to open a Batch or a Prompt, it shuts out and Windows Explorer resets itself! Everything disappears and reappears almost as though logging on. It's very weird! And what's even more confusing is whenever this happens, items that I have recently moved on my desktop will return to their previous positions! It's very strange! Please!! If you have any ideas, let me know!! I use Command and Batch files frequently and it won't let me now! I don't know what to do. I've tried everything! If you know anything, or have any suggestions on how I can correct this issue, please tell me! Thanks, so much, in advance!! moreResolved Question: Norton 360 frozen during uninstallation?
It looks as if Norton 360 is having some troubles, as it has not been able to open at all for the past six months. My computer is only 6 months old, so Norton 360 strangely enough has never responded, and i have no anti-virus system as Norton 360 just will not open at all, and i cannot seem to be able to enable the anti-virus. When i go to the process and look at it, it says access is denied, even though i have administrator privileges. So i decided to reinstall it. However, when I clicked on the set-up, the window said setup but it was actually uninstalling all the components. I thought that the uninstallation was going smoothly until the uninstallation froze after it reached 100%. So after waiting over 30 minutes i have decided to close the program, only to find out that i am unable to. So i go to Task Manager and forcibly close it. However, now, after installing the Norton Removal Tool, i am unable to remove it, as it says that another installation is already running, even though nothing is running, but i have forcibly closed it, so that might be it. So i go to task manager, and i can't find the process. I find the symantec under services, but when i try to go to the application it says access is denied. My computer is running pretty smoothly right now so i doubt it is a virus, but i am unable to uninstall Norton 360. All the disk does is uninstall the product, it doesn't re-install it at all. Damn my computer always has these little problems that other people's computers don't seem to have, such as on shutdown it always says "unknown exception occurred at ..........." and this error has occurred since November, for unknown reasons. Can somebody please help me here? I really don't want to uninstall Norton 360 permanently and not be able to reinstall cuz even though as you say Norton 360 is bad my parents would yell at me if i ever got a different anti-virus.also, i found a dozen processes all running under svchost.exeim leaning towards avira but my parents would kill me so i probably won't get it moreResolved Question: Computer Help! Is it a virus or conficker?
Here's the story - I'll try to be as detailed as possible. Caution though, it is a lengthy explanation, so I apologize in advance, but I am desperate and paranoid here. Recently (within the past 4 or so hours) my Toshiba laptop (Windows XP) has been completely freaking out. It has had several freezes, 4-5 crashes, strange application requests, and other suspicious behavior. At the time, I had Zone Alarm, AVG Free, and a form of McAfee installed on my computer. Now, since its April 1st my first guess - Conficker. I used the worm info from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/viruses/worms/conficker.mspx This morning everything was fine, and I didn't match any of the symptoms. But suddenly, I was unable to go to Microsoft Update, or run the Malicious Software removal tool (links on the page) - Two indications that your computer was infected with conficker. I ran the Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner this morning with no results, but when I ran it again a few hours ago (when the suspicious behavior began) it would cause my computer to freeze up and force me to restart. I then downloaded a few more programs (Silverlight, Windows Live OneCare Trial) but that just seemed to cause more crashes, and Zone Alarm was catching a lot of strange programs trying to run (a bunch I have never heard of or installed). I removed both programs since. The weirdness continues - I was suddenly, without reason, able to access Microsoft Update and the Malicious Software removal tool. I ran both; The Update downloaded a few things, but the Microsoft Genuine Advantage installer crashed. The Mal. Software removal tool also crashed, forcing another reboot. I then found this link: http://www.symantec.com/norton/theme.jsp?themeid=conficker_worm&inid=us_ghp_link_conficker_worm I downloaded the Conficker removal tool patch from the site (which is odd, since conficker disables downloaded patches like this), ran it, but the computer crashed again. I then downloaded the 15day trial of Norton AntiVirus 2009, and initiated the scan; Its been scanning for a while now, still no infections have been caught. So I'm at a total loss here; Before, my computer was totally freaking out, crashing every 10 minutes. Now it seems ok, but I want to be absolutely sure. Earlier I couldn't access any anti-worm links, but now I can. What is going on? Is it conficker? Is it just a common virus (which raises the question why AVG didn't pick it up)? Or is it nothing? Please help! I will edit this later with details after the norton scan has finished. Thanks for your help.Ok, responses: @James the Nerd: Its running no CPU =/ @hicollin: I'm trying to avoid formatting if possible... @Joe k: Link is dead; Besides, I don't trust mediafire downloads. Official sites only. @Hottie: I tried that one, it found nothing this morning, and crashed it twice later =/ @Tommyc555: Thanks for being a douche. UPDATE: My computer has been rather normal recently. Norton Antivirus scanned, and came up with nothing. I'm running the conficker patch again, and I will try the scanner Hottie linked one more time after that. The mystery just deepends; It seemed like virus/spyware, but Norton came up with nothing, and it hasn't done anything weird since. Am I in the clear, or what? What should I do? Thanks for all the responses (except Tommyc555's) so far, I really appreciate it guys. moreResolved Question: CONFLICKER VIRUS ALERT.......READ?

i used Norton Anti Virus (NAV) to full-scan my computer. then, this virus is detected, but NAV can't delete it. it's said that i have to remove it myself. the virus is in a file, multimedia file. so i go to the directory, click that file once, and press Delete. then appeared text like this: "The action cannot be complete because the file is open in another program." then i clicked "Cancel". The second time i press Delete on that file, the text that appeared was: "An unidentified program wants to access your computer." (i use windows vista) i was afraid that it was gonna damage my computer if i clicked "Allow", so i clicked "Cancel". i've also tried to delete it using Norton Commander, it still can't be deleted until now. I've gone to the page http://securityresponse.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2008-071823-3029-99&tabid=1 , and i dont understand what "The Removal Tool" means, because when i searched for it, it appears that "The Removal Tool" is a program to uninstall NAV. so do any of you guys know how to delete this virus? but please don't suggest me to install another anti-virus because i don't want to change my anti-virus. it'll cause a lot of problem. thanks. xoxo.i opened task manager, but i dunno whic program to stop=[ moreResolved Question: How do I get rid of this darn virus?
Here's the rub: I have 3 Trojan.Brisv.A!inf that all originate in the same location. A music download from LimeWire called "soalin peter paul & mary". I have Symantec Anti-virus which "analyzes the risk" then concludes "No repair currently available". So I clicked on the link and it brought me to their website, where I downloaded the removal tool and ran it, but it didn't find the Trojan. The detection results window showed where it was, so I moved the file to the desktop to delete it, which worked on the last one (I no longer use LimeWire) But it claims to be used in another program, and refuses to go away. Help!P.S. I am running Windows Vista. moreResolved Question: How can I remove Trojan.Brisv.A!inf from my computer?

Would anyone like to inform me how to remove my Norton Anti-Virus I received from my Internet Service Provider - AT&T Yahoo? Apparently, it doesn't show up in Add & Remove Programs (I only found an AT&T icon which consisted of every program AT&T gave me EXCEPT Norton. I searched my entire system for anything with the word "Norton" in it, and deleted everything (except 2 which it did not allow me to delete.) I tried to download the Norton Removal Tool at http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039 and that download did not even load. So now, I'm stuck with Norton with no apparent removal tool. I can't re-download, because apparently, the AT&T Yahoo Norton won't re-download because THAT even can't remove Norton first then download it again. (Which is the typical process.) So, Norton is madly in love with my computer and won't get out. Help, please?! PS: I want to remove it so I can re-download it because it glitched on me... it turned itself off and won't turn back on. About 5 days ago, Norton detected a trojan.vundo virus after I watched a video I really shouldn't have watched. :) I downloaded the removal tool from the symantec site and ran it. Did a file search for norton and symantec and deleted them 4. Searched the registry for Norton and symantec entries and deleted them 5. Ran registry mechanic to clean up afterwards So did I get rid of all traces of this pernicious software? NO! I still have the LiveUpdate icon showing in control panel. I can't delete it.
