Open Question: "MemWarp" infections?
I have eliminated all of the so-called low-risk adware/spyware infections on my computer. I have two files (+- 180Kb each) rated medium-risk called MemWarp.dll and MemWarp.ocx still on. they have been there since 2001 unknown to me (computer has been unused until recently). i am uncertain whether to purge both files ENTIRELY. i.e. were these two files originally part of the computer when purchased, and were only certain portions of the files corrupted (and renamed MemWarp), OR are the two files completely spyware. in the first case, i might be purging important material. please advise. moreOpen Question: How do I stop ads from appearing on web pages?
Whenever I go on any site, a new window opens that is about ads. Sometimes when I click on a link, it directly takes me to an ad site (and not the site I wanted to go on). But the ads still persist. moreOpen Question: I NEED HELP! how do i remove trojan virus?
recently, i have received a pop-up saying that my laptop has been infected by a trojan virus.. i only had a mcAfee scanner.. and i think it didn't help. i'm 15 years old.. and i don't know what to do.. my mom bought me an antivirus.. but i'm not with them, since they're abroad.. so i started installing this antivirus software.. it's called.. "Total Security Quick Heal 2010 " i finished and it removed some malwares.. after repetitive scanning.. it said that my laptop was now free of any adware, spyware or malware or viruses and stuff.. but everytime i scan my laptop using advanced system carev3, in the spyware removal it scans some trojan files.. but ends up saying that there is nothing wrong.. i do not understand why.. if i have trojan files, then why is my laptop safe? the only file i could clear up in reading was trojan.win32.fynben.2 and TrojanDownloader.win32.BHO something like that.. but there were more..because the other files flashed so fast while scanning.. what do i do? my laptop is working but everytime i open programs or browsers it usually hangs.. and it would always result to "Not Responding". and it ticks me off because i can't do my projects.. please tell me what to do. i think i got the trojan files when i was browsing google, and i went in a website full of brainteasers.. please help me. moreOpen Question: Are Gamehouse games safe to install after they've been downloaded?
I've been with Gamehouse/RealArcade for a while and it was only until a few months ago that I started getting adware, malware and whatnot. Recently, I downloaded the .exe file for a game. My PC has spyware on it. I know that Microsoft will give help to Windows users who have a security issue, but I can't find the right spot on the Microsoft site to type my problem, so that I can send it to them. I thought I had found the right location, but it asked me to choose my country from the USA, Canada or Brazil - and I live in the UK. Could someone please help? I have an ancient computer that runs on Window's 98 and I had to keep the monitor and all of the equipment because I can't use anything else, and it only has 2 usb's. But I figure hey, it's still a computer, RIGHT? I was thinking I could put Window's Vista on it, and hook up our second printer and maybe give it internet and all this other cool stuff so it could be usable instead of having to throw it away. Well I put it together and turn it on and I see that it only has 7.85GB of space and this computer I'm on has 586GB (Which, when we bought it the guy said it had a super large amount of RAM and could store basically everything you could want and imagine.) Well, it came with an extra Window's Vista CD incase the computer crashes which I was going to install on my old computer, and take off all of the Video Games I played when I was a little kid, and when I give it internet get some really good anti-virus software and remove all of the America Online's something-point-oh. But I was basically wondering if this is possible, it has a regular CD drive and a floppy disk drive, and such a small amount of space I don't know if I can :s And it's probably clogged up with viruses but I can just buy more Trend Micro... and get spyware, and adware, and malware blockers. And I can pretty much wipe anything on there but is my computer too old? It's a Hewlett Packard and probably has the graphic capabilities of a Nintendo 64. Can I do this or do I just need to throw it out? I know a lot about computers, but not everything, but some things. Ty for answering. :)No he said RAM makes it fast. And that it just so happened to have a lot of storage. moreResolved Question: Can adware or a virus type the word "porn" in to our search box?
My husband CLAIMS to have not looked at a porn site, however, the site was looked at and the actual site was TYPED in to a seach box on our computer (our search box saves recent searches). My husband says that adware or a virus can put things in to your search box and make it seem like you've been to that particular site. Meaning that the word "porn" magically appears in a search box and gets clicked on. This is what he says adware and a virus can do.... Now, I'm NOT stupid. Background: I had Webroot Antivirus with Spysweeper and no fatal problems with bad viruses for the last 4 years. It was time to renew my subscription and the salesperson convinced me to upgrade to Security Essentials. After installing it, things weren't working quite right; pages weren't loading correctly on the first try, PDFs wouldn't open, and I kept getting notifications asking if I should allow or block things to access the internet but I had no idea what they were (a jumble of letters and numbers.exe) and there was no guidance for it so I called and asked to have my old Webroot Antivirus with SpySweeper back. I didn't think it was a virus but just that my 4-year old computer wasn't handling the firewall well or vice-versa. Webroot sent me a download for the Antivirus with SpySweeper but it was the new 2011 version and things completely went down hill over the next few hours. I was talking to my friend on skype shortly after installing it and all hell broke loose- my computer froze up and a small cat icon was sent to my friend through the chat even though I definitely didn't put it there and it never appeared in my text box. When I restarted my computer, I did it in safe mode without networking and ran an antivirus scan with Webroot but it keeps stopping at the same file about 140,000 files in- I think it's an index.dat file related to cookies. The estimated time continues to move forward but the scan doesn't progress to any other files, even after hours of waiting. At that point I can't even stop the scan- when I click stop scan it just says "processing" and no matter how long I wait, it won't stop or continue or anything. I tried restarting in safe mode again and it kept happening each time I tried. I restarted in safe mode with networking to try to use security.symantec.com because that scan has picked up on things other scans have missed in the past but my computer totally broke down ("fatal error" blue screen) before it finished (it had run fro about an hour or two and hadn't picked up on anything yet.) I restarted in safe mode with networking again and it started up ok and I ran a quick scan (because I didn't think my computer would last through the full scan) with Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool and it came up clean. I am now running a full scan with the Malicious Software Removal Tool and crossing my fingers that my computer makes it. Other details: Now when I open up internet explorer for the first time after restarting it a pop up ad for a registry scanner thing shows up, which definitely makes me think this is some malicious adware type stuff. Also, I noticed a lot of suspicious processes going on but I'm not sure what to do about them. For example, There are five svchost.exe running. (I know one is normal but so many at once makes me suspicious.) I searched my computer for svchost.exe and did a scan of each file that was found but all came up clean using webroot. Any suggestions? Something is definitely wrong but virus scans are either coming up clean or my computer is not lasting through them long enough for them to pick up a virus.Ok, I've tried installing malwarebyes, avast, and avira antivir but none of them will install correctly (they won't open and say that maybe reinstalling them will help but it doesn't.) moreResolved Question: bleeping spyware adware please help thanks?

It is more popular for people to download free Computer Security programs, however, if someone is looking for a security software that does everything you need to have done for the best security that anyone can offer with unlimited funds to purchase this product, what would the tech world recommend? I have browsed through hundreds of Anti-Virus, Spyware, Adware, Malware, Trojan Horse, Bots, Rootkit Protection, Internet Security, Email Scanners, Everything, and I have found that Every product even if they charge hundreds of dollars for the product, they all say they are the best. And a lot of these products seem to do all the same things. There's Norton, AVG, Avast, Ad-Aware, Avira, Spybot, Emsisoft, on and on and on... But if you had all the money in the world to spend on a product does it make a difference to purchase, or do the free software programs compare? If you where to say, that purchasing a product was going to give me more features, then what is the best product that unlimited funds can buy? Please, I know everyone has their own opinions, and often times, the common user uses a free protection software. This is not what I am looking for. I am looking for a professional opinion, that doesnt have a corporate software developer in there pocket. I am looking for IT professionals to express what money can buy for the best total protection. moreOpen Question: Can someone please help me with this? I keep getting re-directed on my browser via Google-analytics.?
I am using internet explorer 8 and a similar thing was happening when I was using Google Chrome (with google chrome it would take me to this page automatically), which is why I switched, when I click a link, it will pop up a second window in the background and will show this address: http://results.google-analytics.com/ for a couple of seconds before it redirects me to an ad page like yellow pages or some page that had absolutely nothing to do with what I was searching for or the link the i clicked on. It does happen quite a bit when I use search engines and once I click a result link it will happen. Obviously, its probably a virus or adware problem but I have used AVG, Malwarebytes, and Ad-Aware remover to try to get rid of it and it still comes back. Any thoughts? Thanks, TDSSKiller sounds great. Ad-Aware Free actually has both anti-spyware and Rootkit protection. I ran this and it didn't pick it up. Also, Malwarebytes has not picked it up either. But I will try the TDSSKillerI ran TDSSKiller and it found zero infections?Ok, I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 Pro, purchased full product and Malwarebytes Pro. I ran both complete scans and they found nothing. Afterwards, I still had the the problem. I will try your method next and keep you posted.Ok, I deleted my Java Temp. Files. This and ran both my Kaspersky and Malwarebytes again. Zero files found. I search the internet and this problem didn't happen. So, it appeared to be fixed. Then, I remembered one spot that I always had this problem at, www.downloads.com, when I would try to log in cnet it would still popped up a second window displaying this http://results.gugle.com/ and then re-directed me to this http://65.60.9.236/click.php?c=3041e0e90b31ff8f04d8490a5f00&d=1283840090 so, I seem to have gotten rid of the google-analytics but now I have result-gugle? Any thoughts? moreOpen Question: Is it necessary to have AVG, Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes and TweakNow RegCleaner?
I have multiple software programs for detecting viruses, malware, spyware, adware and keeping my Registry clean. Are all of these necessary? I run each program at least once a week. Each time that I run them, I update each one. Both my AVG and my Ad-Aware run all of the time in my notifications area on my taskbar. Is it necessary to have both running all of the time. Right now, I use AVG Anti-virus free (anti-virus, anti-spyware, link scanner, and email scanner), Ad-Aware (anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-rootkit), Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (Malware Removal), and TweakNow RegCleaner (Windows Registry Cleaner). Is all this necessary? Or, should I be using other software, and/or should I remove some of this software? Am I duplicating? It just seems that my AVG uses a lot of RAM and runs quite intensly in the background. Any thoughts? moreResolved Question: What software can I download to remove rootkit viruses for free?
Okay so I have A LOT of serious viruses and I'm accessing the internet in safe mode at the moment. I keep having error messages preventing me from using any of my programs. Just yesterday, a virus(Anti-Soft) attacked my computer. It disabled my antivirus protection(Mcafee) and I couldn't do anything. I did System Restore the first time and thought it went away. I shut down the computer. The next day, the same virus came back, so I went into Safe mode with Networking and downloaded Malwarebytes. It detected all the Trojans and adware and the like. I had to restart the computer in order to delete them. Before then, I saw these options and saw "Repair computer." I hit enter and it gave me the options. I clicked on system restore. I went into regular operating system, but the software only deleted SOME of the Trojans/Adware/Malware. I had to manually delete the rest. Every now and then when I am trying to access websites (usually from clicking a link, not from typing an address in) the website won't show up and instead will direct me to wsearch.net which is a blank page. and no matter how many times i try, it keeps happening. I have a macbook pro running leopard and I am a customer of Northland cable, which I use for my wireless internet. I have researched everything i can about this "wsearch.net" thing and it apparently is a virus that people get from downloading stuff from porn sites. i am a girl and never go to porn sites, let alone download videos from any of those sites. furthermore, i don't experience the pop-ups and other things that websites have said are associated with the virus (called DNSchanger). i downloaded anti spyware/adware/trojan/virus software specifically for it, and the software said that i didn't even have that virus. other things have said that it's associated with rogers wireless (whatever that is) and i certainly do not have that or that kind of modem or whatever. someone said to download the new version of firefox and it would go away, but when i did that nothing changed. also, i try downloading google chrome to hopefully sidestep this problem (it happens on both firefox and safari) but when trying to download it, i get redirected to wsearch and can't download it!!! please help!! moreResolved Question: how do i remove this from my computer? look in detail for more?

Is Adaware an Antivirus program? I heard that having two Anti-Virus programs could cause problems with your computer. I'm currently using AVG Free and I'm not sure if it can find Adware/Spyware. So I'd like to add the free version of Adaware. If anyone could help me out that'd be great. moreVoting Question: Is GIMP 2.6.10 safe to download?
Whenever I try to download it, McAfee asks if I want to block the download because it says, "Potentially Dangerous Download Detected!" "In our tests, this download contained programs some people would consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programs" Has anyone had this problem when downloading GIMP? moreVoting Question: Problems with Windows Update! "some settings are managed by your system administrator"?
I seem to be having problems with my windows update. Last week when I checked to see if any updates were needed I was unable to view them because it stated that "some settings are managed by your system administrator" which is preventing me from changing the settings and viewing updates. This is my own personal computer so I am the administrator. However, earlier in the week windows update began to operate normally as there was an update available and I was able to download it but a couple days later, the windows update screen went back to saying that "some settings are managed by your system administrator". I did a virus/adware/spyware scan recently and I only had low risk adware which was detected and then deleted with no change with windows update. This problem started right after I got a software security/warranty installed by Dell, I'm not sure if anything they did would cause the problem. The system I'm using is Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated!I got a software warranty because another computer in my household crashed and cost a lot to repair, so we decided to get the software warranty in case this happened again we wouldn't have to pay. I do have the microsoft security essentials, and it's only windows update that isn't working "automatically". moreVoting Question: Have u ever used Windows Doctor ?
