Open Question: How do I hide a lip peircing?

I have been recently wanting to get a lip piercing and of course my parents are against it. I'm only 14 and am not allowed to get it pierced until I'm 18 but I would rather get it done now so it can heal before I have to get a job. I need to figure out a way to hide one ( I would pierce it my self). And I've already pierced my ears by my self and they are fine so don't give me a spiel about how its unsanitary, also don't give me an answer regarding that I shouldn't get it done because I'm not budging on the matter. I've heard I could cover it with a band-aid and put cover up over it but I've tested that and it clearly shows. I've also heard about clear/flesh toned piercings. Resolved Question: Why wont my mom believe in what i want to do?

The only thing im good at is music. I want to be somebody, and i've known that my whole life. I would sing and draw pictures of rock bands and pray every night to be someone when i was little. but my mom constantly says that music is a hobby and not a profession. i know i could make it... i actually have converted pop people into rock! i sit out in the hall ways at school and play guitar.. the teachers let me even though its against policy. all their doors open and kids gather around. everybody tells me that i could be so much... when she first said it i broke inside. i cant imagine myself as a doctor like she wants me to be (shes a nurse..). i want to see the world and spread my music... she always says it.. and always has. my dad is all for it. he wants to put me in classes and my nana has set up gigs on TV. why cant my mom accept it like they can?music is the ONLY thing that makes me truely happy... i mean like of course my family makes me happy, but music fills the emptiness! it makes me MELook out for sarah libby, im gonna be somebody :) more

Open Question: Broken bracket on braces?

I was chewing on a pen cap without thinking (I know that is stupid) and I heard a crack. One of the brackets on my bottom front teeth un-cemented from my tooth. Do I need to go get it fixed? It doesn't really feel loose and is still pressing pretty tightly against my tooth and will only move if I try to move it. My next appt is September 16. Would waiting that long be bad? Also, my orthodontist is done with my bottom teeth, they just put clean bands on when I go in. The main focus is getting my top teeth done so they can take my braces off more

They did a good job of picking songs that are fun to play but not really good songs and the variety is awful. Imo. Open Question: Do some bug bites disappear then reappear after a month?

I got what I thought was a spider bite on the heel of my palm that appeared one morning when I woke up. Unconcerned I put a small band aid over it and ignored the small bit of pain pressing on the area caused. It seemed to disappear within a few days but a month later I got a very similar mark in the exact same spot with the same level of pain when pressed against. Now a few weeks later from that its back again. Can this still be a bug bite or does anyone know another possibility?Uh, not looking for a remedy, just curious if anyone has seen this before. more

ok well last night i had a dream that ii can remember, it was verryyyy strange and realistic, can anybody help me and tell me what it means?? btw im going to a paramore concert with my two friends in november and i was thinking about buying a band tee..) ok so... it started off with the 3 of us at the concert, we were just standing around and somebody told us we had been chosen to go into the pit (you know, the bit at the verrrryyyy from that is usually more expensive etc.)so we were lisnening to the music and dancina round and stuff right at the very front, and we were getting pushed up against a metal guardrail, when hayley (the leadsinger) ran along us all and gave us all high5's, i was at the very end and she stopped at the person beside me. then after the concert we went into another room to buy tshirts, and nobody was there, my friend wanted to get a extra large one so she could sleep in it but i wanted to get a smaller one (both in pink) but the lady behind the counter got two large ones, and i got annoyed and told her to get me a smaller one, so she got me a small one but in brown (random ikr?) and i said i wanted it in pink and she said we dont have any left which confused me because we were first in line, so i started shouting at her and screaming and stuff and i had to take a medium one. its all very vivid which is kinda strange because i rarely remember dreams.... help? more

Open Question: Why oh why is pop a genre?

All it means is popular music. That could be anything. "A music genre is a categorical and typological construct that identifies musical sounds as belonging to a particular category and type of music that can be distinguished from other types of music." Pop isnt a style of music, like all the other genres are. Why is it one? What are the real genres of the band hiding behind the so called "pop"? Open Question: Would I get away with doing this to my school uniform?

I hate like blending in with uniforms and stuff, I like to do things to make the uniform more "me" with out breaking any rules e.g I wear 3 watches on my wrist because they is no rule against it, I wear glitter nail vanish, charity wrist bands and stuff like that. And our school has decided to make us wear blazers... how great (!) Open Question: School not allowing pupils to peform shakespeare?

I just wanted your views on this, and if their actions are truly defendable. My son attends a local primary school. He enjoys it dearly, however me and some of the other parents have started to question some of the head teachers descions. Every year the top year in the school performs a play in front of both the school and parents. For as long as I can remember, it has always been a shakespeare play. Last year it was Twelfth night. I was eager to find out what play my son would be performing. To my shock and horror he informed me they were to produce a modern rendition of Robin Hood. At first I was shocked, for as far as I knew It was a school tradition to faithfully perform a shakespeare play every year. Though in truth, I wasn't that bothered - as long as the children are experiencing exposure to the arts. Still with questions on my mind, I went and asked the teacher behind her descion to choose Robin Hood (Well, the bastard child of a true classic tale - this one filled with horrendously cheesy moments of sheer idiocracy, a disgrace to the excellence of shakespeare) and she informed me that infact it was the heads descion to insist on selecting a different play this year. So I went to see the head, and was truly sickened by what he told me. it turns out he has decided to band the performance of ALL of shakespeares plays for the foreseeable future - his reason for takinggsuch a stance - that they are filled with 'unsuitable' content, mainly innuendo, implying underage sex, encouraging rebellion against authroity, violence, drugs and, perhaps the funniest of all - DEATH YES, DEATH. He said it was not wise to expose death to children at the tender age of 11. 11 years old seems old enough to me. I was so angered by this, im thinking of taking my daughter out of the school (she is in the lower years) for this is not a unique incident - no, this has happend before. To List a few: There was no overall winner on sports day, despite everyone being in teams. The head thought everyone should be a 'winner' He has banned parents taking photos within the school grounds, because of course im a pedophile :/ Packed Lunches are checked by staff to make sure im not smuggling chocolate to my children. Pupils are not to run in the school grounds whilst coming out of school, since they may 'hurt' surrounding parents He has banned the use of good quality footballs - instead opting for the safer (BUT CRAP) plastic ones, which swerve so much the game becomes unplayable. Anyone caught whispering recieves a detention - because he thinks that they may be spreading rumours (or just being rude to the teachers) So now all our children are thought criminals Money is forbiddan in school, so if my child is caught with spare change, he is told off And many more...which I have forgotonn....but trust me, it happens A LOT. So what are your thoughts? Should my children continue to go to the school? YOu may think im overreacting, but I just want my children to grow up in a friendly environment, not a Orwellian dystopia. more

Open Question: Stubbed my big toe, now what?

A few months ago I stubbed my big toenail so hard that it bled and pulled away from the skin, but for the first couple of days afterward I wore a band aid over the nail to keep it from falling off. Now there's a gap of air (does not lay flat) between most of my nail and the skin, and it's attatched almost like a half moon against the sides and base. Would it be possible to keep it taped down and get the skin to regrow against the nail, or should I cut the nail off in the areas where it's not connected to skin and just let the nail regrow? more

The Water was beating malevolently at the cliff and the rain lashing about, only a single spark of hope remaining for wandering ships—the lighthouse built precariously atop the green cliff, illuminating the waves and sharp rocks growing cruelly out of the sea floor. The near-angelic tower jetted up from the rocky cliff like a giant index finger scolding the stormy sky. Long since abandoned by all Guild Members, there remained one rather forgetful and young Bartholomew Goldheart. His name was Barnaby Nottingbow, known to the local townsfolk as the ‘Bumbling Watchman’. But something was askew at the lighthouse today, it could be felt in the bones of the ever-gossiping ladies. There had been three strange men dressed in black cloaks arrive—the talk of the town. They had strode right through the street without so much as a friendly ‘Good Morning’ or a polite tip of their hats, and straight up to that ‘dreadful lighthouse’. And, quite unusually, the ladies’ bones were right. The little window towards the top of the lighthouse was slightly ajar, letting a in a taste of the terrible storm raging outside. I've been listening to that song again lately and thinking how perfect it is (actually the Jay-Z rap in the beginning keeps it from perfection. I personally like him as a rapper, but not in this song). And to add to the perfection is her voice. Something about her accent and just her beautiful voice in general really makes this song amazing. She manages to make it sound cool, sexy, beautiful, etc.. all at the same time. And it's actually one of the most beautiful songs ever written (you might have to listen to her acoustic version to appreciate the beauty). It's very misunderstood because of it's catchiness and whatnot (and the rap verse), but it's a very beautiful song about friendship and love. They were almost gonna give it to Mary J. Blige, among other people. Nothing against her, I mean she's a great singer, but no one could ever make it sound the way Rihanna did. Resolved Question: Dream Interpretation: What does this dream mean?

I don't remember all of it, but here is what I do remember. I was sitting in a room with this band I listen to. This guy with long curly brown hair that I have never met but tends to show up in my dreams a lot was sitting across from me with a red headed girl and brunette guy on both sides of him. And, I was sitting in between the blonde bassist and brunette guitarist that were talking about guitars then when the blonde, Jeremy, saw I had a confused look on my face and began explaining them to me. In real life I know more about guitars then in the dream. Suddenly, the scene changed and I was against a wall kissing the curly haired guy. But, the kissing didn't last long because the two brunette boys opened the door to the room to take us back to the room with the couches. The boy I was sitting next to earlier pulled me down beside him never removing his arm from around my waist. Beside us a tea like liquid was brewing in test tubes with a monitor saying things like 20% and 45%. He took one and tried to force me to drink it causing the curly headed guy to jump up and grabbed my wrist while yelling "Run!" to me. The other boys began chasing after us. Then, I forget the rest of that part of the dream. Next, I was dressed in a band tee and dark wash jeans with T.U.K sneakers. A large suitcase was in my hand and I was walking down the stairs heading towards the front door of my home. A voice called me from the living room. I turned my head and saw a brunette boy that was either my older brother or the boy that tried to make me drink the tea. He asked me where I was going to which I replied "I'm going to find myself.". He began yelling at me but I just walked out the door. Not even a block away he yelled from the door and threw a wooden rocking horse that belonged to my late grandfather that I never got to meet. I ducked causing it to miss me and hit the driveway of a neighbor. It now looked like a dinosaur instead of a horse. The boy ran past me and hugged the dinosaur. Now, I was af my cousin Tori's house going through things before we got into my old family jeep that we sold to her mother on the cheap. She just turned sixteen yesterday though we seemed to be somewhere from seventeen to nineteen in the dream. We began driving around a city or town that I have never been to in search of a CVS to buy condoms. She has not told me that she has lost her virginity to a seventeen year old guy that she met on Muspace two years ago that is staying with her for the summer. I had to learn from our grandmother. Then, we just walk around the store picking out junk food and making fun of people that look nervous buying condoms. Then, my mom woke me up asking to borrow my boots. more

Open Question: Can I sue in small claims for legal expenses?

I am in a band and what has happened is an ex-member is suing us claiming he owns us and the band and his lawyers are demanding $100k/20% until $100k is reached, of our future gross income. His original claim demanded $300k. We told his lawyers no and ignored them. Over the course of a year, they tried to negotiate with us, which we refused to pay him anything other than have him pay for our past legal counsel. They changed the demand to $100k and tried to have a summary judgment brought against us. The band then got a permanent lawyer to fight for us and stand in if we couldn't be at the hearing. The judge read the first page and immediately said no, in our favor of paying him nothing. He is also attacking our personal assets as well, though for some reason dropped the suit against my personal assets but I still have to pay for the lawyers because he's still suing the band. His lawyers still push it causing us to have to pay our lawyer more money to fight this. He doesn't have a leg to stand on it but it seems he's apparently got money to burn and is doing this more so to force us to lose money on paying for a lawyer. By the way, way may gross about $250k a year but after expenses and paying for our booking agent, with 5 members, we take home at most about $30k/year. If we lose this suit, we'd be forced into making about $16k-17k/year so he's obviously trying to destroy the band because no one would work for that little. We've lost a bass player already due to him not wanting to be involved with so many lawyers. The former member is blatantly and deliberately just trying to mess with us and force us to spend money we can't afford, but have to. The band only owns an equipment trailer that's close to no value due to damage and depreciation. We don't save money, or as a partnership claim a profit for the "business". We split everything evenly. There's no partnership contract and there is a mutual understanding that when a member is fired or quits, he is given the opportunity to finish the next week or two of shows to allow them time to find a new job. There is no monetary compensation offered because that person isn't earning the money nor is there any money that can be afforded to pay that person. The former member knows all of this well seeing as he quit once and was fired before I was hired. We're based in NC, by the way. Anyway, my question is can I sue him in small claims for my share of the money I've paid to the lawyer? If so, what exactly for? After all is said and done, it'll be between $3-4k for my share of the legal expenses. It might seem petty but I kinda need the money. I've already spent my savings trying to pay bills and I'm forced to find cheaper housing, as well as penny pinch and get rid of any unnecessary expenses like cable tv(my son hates this one). Aside from the financial hardship, also the hardship of having to listen to my fiance complain about not being able to afford anything! Thanks for your help. Sorry I wrote so much. Resolved Question: How can I get my sunburn sting to go away?

It doesn't hurt unless I scratch it or rub it against something. Then it stings a lot. I want to heal it fast because I have marching band practice and it's almost every day for the next two weeks. I have to wear pants because it's on my legs [on my shins mostly] and I don't want to re burn the burn more. I wear sunscreen that's waterproof too so I don't sweat it off. It's faded considerably but still hurts on contact. Any tips to take away the sting?/How long did it take for the sting to go away for you?Yeah I use Aloe every day, usually after I shower. I shower in the middle of the day and I take a bath at night. I put on aloe usually 2-3 times a day as well as sunscreen. I'll definitely try vinegar. Thanks everyone :3 more

Voting Question: Should I be worried about this burn?

About four days ago I was working with a heat gun to remove paint from a windowsill when my hand brushed against it. (If you give a thumbs up sign the burn is about one inch below the lowest joint in your thumb). It's smaller than a quarter and basically just looks like a giant blister. What worries me about it is that it doesn't really hurt at all. I have quite a high pain tolerance but I'm not sure if that's what it is. I have been putting Aloe Vera on a large pad band-aid each day and re-applying it after taking a shower. Any suggestions or comments? Well, I'm a freshman and am going into band and I noticed this one girl and thought she was pretty (I'm a girl) I'm a jealous person and usually am jealous of pretty girls or rather beautiful ones. I however don't feel any jealous towards her. Does that mean I'm gay? I'm 14, but Ive always been boy crazy (Yet never had a boyfriend) There was rumor last year that I was going out with a girl Which I was NOT (then again the girls who started the rumor gave each other lap dances during recess once) It's not that I have anything against gay people, but I however do not want to be gay. Resolved Question: Does my idea sound way too similar to Harry Potter?

Okay, so I'm writing a book and, while the actual plot has very little similarities with Harry Potter, there is one thing I'm worried about. A rat follows my character around until it's as if he's a pet. The rat really doesn't play that big of a roll in the story, at least for a little while. Anyway, later in the story, they encounter a band of gypsies (who really aren't gypsies, but for simplicity we'll say they are) who recognize that the rat is not a rat, but a man, who's shape has been changed (against his will) so that he'd keep the bad guy's secret. However, he escaped. There is a reason that he started to follow my character as well... just know that there's a reason for everything :) Anyway, I realized last night that that sounds far too similar to the Peter Pettigrew story for HP. I mean, the characters are nothing alike and the story of why they are rats are different, but the whole rat to man thing is really similar. What do you think? Resolved Question: do i have a lawsuit? and if so what type would it be considered and what do you suggest that i do?

i am a 22 year old male correctional officer in ohio I also model.. i had previously filed a complaint against a supervisor for filling out false document and making false accusations of what he said i said that i didnt say. the incident escalated when i refused to sign it and he pulled a can of pepper spray out on me and "threatened to spray my pretty ass" i have been working here for 10 months and am constantly being harassed and " appearance-discriminated against because of my looks. because im very tan and take care of my teeth and have them whitened and am just very clean cut.The supervisors keep telling me to quit and to reconsider my job because you have to be a man to work here and im not a man." and supervisors also say that if im there to find a boyfriend or husband that " that shit isnt going to fly" even though i am straight and am not gay, they are accusing me of being gay and calling me and making false accusations that i believe is "defamation of character" since my filing this complaint and incident with the EEO other supervisors have been retaliating against me by wrongfully accusing me of stuff that i have not done nor said. the harassment and threats have continued and i have been wrote up by a supervisor and interogted multiple times for incidents that i had no part of that even A Supervisor who treats me with respect knew that i didnt do and then even started questioning why that stuff was happening and going on with me.i have worn the same type of uner armour shirts under my uniform and by the collar in front of the shirt is there logo and it has been visible ever since day 1 of my job. last week the deputy warden of operation jumped all over me and threatened to walk me out of the building because i was breaking the dress code, but it wasnt in th dress code and many other officers and even supervisors had the same shirts on as i did and there logo was visible as well but i was the only 1 to ever get yelled at and threatened with it and during this time he was threatening me about it his assistant captain was right behind him wearing the same shirt as i and other officers took up for me and asked why is it just me who is getting in trouble for something that 90% of the officers wear and do and why after 10 months of wearing it has he just now said something about it? well new officers probation is 12 months so my probation is almost over and so far all of my random evaluations have been randomly selected supervisors to conduct the evaluations and the ones that have been done on me have been all excellent evaluations so the deputy warden is just trying to get bad paperwork on me so he might have a reason to get rid of me. after he told me to go on to my block during the "shirt incident" i had a rubberband that i had around my wrist for the mail in the block to be wrapped in when i passed the mail out.he then accused me of giving rubber bands to the inmates in order for them to make weapons and use them against officers. A few fellow officer shook there head and was standing beside me and said out loud " if u need a witness to testify on how they are treating you here ,please do not hesitate to call us. most officers who dont harass me or threaten me know i do my job excellent and i am just getting harassed, discriminated against, retaliated against, and especially" appearance-discriminated just because of how i look and my defending myself and filing that complaint on the supervisor who threatened to assault me with the pepper spray.i can go on for pages and tell you everything that goes on to me but you should kind of get the jist of things and when the supervisor was interrogating me claiming that i was gay and working there just to find a man i had a union representative present and he heard the supervisor refer to me as gay and said i need to quit because im not a man and i go to the tanning bed and fix my hair and take care of my teeth to impress the inmates and find me a man.that is far from the truth. i am not gay at all, during this interrogation session he made me take off my necklace that i had not taken off since 2006 they day my mom was killed, she had the necklace blessed by priest for protection for me as i was away at college, so it never left my neck. i hired in with it on and the warden and everyone knew why i wore it for. but the supervisor demanded i take it off or he would write me up and walk me out. so i reluntantly took it off at 4 years. it was very sentimental and he said that the necklace was not religious at all and the only religious necklace was what he was wearing. a cross necklace. so that made me extremely upset.now i am even getting pulled over by state troopers on my way to work because of a "suspicious vehicle", they said a 22 year old driving a jaguar is suspicious because they work for the state to and cant afford a jaguar. so they search my vehicle or just make me a take breatha more
