Anti American Sentiment Questions asked
Open Question: Was the KKK founded by Scot-Irish? or Scots? and what religious denomination?
Several Questions I'm having difficulties finding answers for: (I am trying to determine if there was or was not an anti-slavery Scottish presence in the U.S. South that either opposed the racial discrimination, or had a different reason for seceding from the Union. And were there angry Scottish Americans in the U.S. South who were angry that the KKK used the Klan order to commit such horrific behavior? What are some books on this? Or were the Scots in America not actively opposed? 1) Were the founders Ulster Scots (Scott-Irish) or the Highland Scots, or not Scottish? 2) Were they Episcopalian or Presbyterian by ancestry? 3) Were there people of caucasian Scottish origin in the Southern US who actively revolted against KKK on a basis of "this is not what Scottish heritage stands for"? 4) Was there a separation between the Scotish sentiment towards secession and the Confederacy that was strictly in line with Scottish independence from England, separate from slavery? 5) To what extent were Scots responsible for slave trade? Here is something else baffling to me in wikipedia about earlier Scots in South Carolina and Georgia....they wrote this about slavery as early as the 1700s "The Protestant Scottish highlanders who settled what is now Darien, Georgia added a moral anti-slavery argument, which was rare at the time, in their 1739 "Petition of the Inhabitants of New Inverness": It is shocking to human Nature, that any Race of Mankind and their Posterity should be sentanc'd to perpetual Slavery; nor in Justice can we think otherwise of it, that they are thrown amongst us to be our Scourge one Day or other for our Sins: And as Freedom must be as dear to them as it is to us, what a Scene of Horror must it bring about! And the longer it is unexecuted, the bloody Scene must be the greater. —Inhabitants of New Inverness, [21][23] What I'm wondering is if the origin of THESE people was still prevalent when the KKK formed, or was the KKK a misuse of the Scottish klan system by not Scotts? If thats the case then the respondents are indeed prejudiced against immigrants becasue once the immigrant commit crimes they are bad but the American citizen that commits a crime is ok. thoughts...... moreResolved Question: Why don't many Europeans realize that they owe us some sort of respect as we are their defenders?

The second largest shareholder in News Corp. -- the parent company of Fox News -- has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to causes linked to the imam planning to build a Muslim community center and mosque near Ground Zero in Manhattan, says a report from Yahoo!News. According to the report from Yahoo!'s John Cook, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, who owns seven percent of News Corp., "has directly funded [Imam Feisal Abdul] Rauf's projects to the tune of more than $300,000." Cook reports that Prince Al-Waleed's personal charity, the Kingdom Foundation, donated $305,000 to Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow, a project sponsored by two of Rauf's initiatives, the American Society for Muslim Advancement and the Cordoba Initiative, which is building the Manhattan mosque. That Fox News' second-largest shareholder, after Rupert Murdoch, has financial links to the "Ground Zero mosque" will be seen as ironic by critics of the news network, who have watched with chagrin as the network's talking heads attempt to link the mosque to radical Islamism. Last week, Daily Show host Jon Stewart lambasted Fox panelist Eric Bolling's attempt to link the Cordoba Initiative to Hamas and Iran. Stewart used News Corp.'s connections to Prince Al-Waleed, and the prince's connections to the Carlyle Group and Osama bin Laden to make a tongue-in-cheek argument that Fox News may be a "terrorist command center." http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0821/fox-shareholder-funded-mosque-imam/ If you don't trust the source, google it. While Fox News promotes the anti-muslim sentiment against the mosque, Fox News Reports: Islamic radicals are seizing on protests against a planned Islamic community center near Manhattan's Ground Zero and anti-Muslim rhetoric elsewhere as a propaganda opportunity and are stepping up anti-U.S. chatter and threats on their websites. One jihadist site vowed to conduct suicide bombings in Florida to avenge a threatened Koran burning, while others predicted an increase in terrorist recruits as a result of such actions. "By Allah, the wars are heated and you Americans are the ones who…enflamed it," says one such posting. "By Allah you will be the first to taste its flames." http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/08/22/protests-rhetoric-feed-jihadists/?test=latestnewsI guess fox news is working the American public to lend Jihadis propaganda material for recruitment. And at the very least putting our troops in graver danger. moreResolved Question: Will anti-Muslim/Mosque protests become terrorist recruiting tools world-wide @ America's h.ate towards Islam?
Is this anti-Muslim sentiment hurting our War efforts and helping the enemy better recruit terrorists based on this image of American and its hatred of Islam and the Muslim religion? moreVoting Question: How come so many people are disillusioned about the state of the US economy?
To start off: I'm studying economics at the London School of Economics. I have no political stance (I prefer a mix of policies that comply with common sense, which I think is called Utilitarian). I've read a lot of articles about the US economic $hitstorm, and how much the American public despise the possiby of another tax hike (I haven't been following US politics very closely, but I'm going to assume there's a tax hike on the way or already there. What I see that most people don't get is that you need the tax hikes. Desperately. You can't lower taxes while $2.1 trillion (last time I checked) in debt. It's a big nono. Does not work. If the debt rises it'll get to unsupportable levels and cause the government to default, which will just destroy the economy (investor confidence just plummets). This is not helped by the very expensive foreign wars. Now that we've established WHY you need the hikes, we're doing to establish how. So who do increase taxes on? The rich? The poor? Everyone? To sustain the lower band of the quality of life, you need to increase taxes on the rich. If you tax the poor (generalization, the majority), their quality of life just plummets. They hardly have enough to get by as it is. Assuming that they make up the majority of the population, you'll probably get enough money out of them to decrease the debt. A much better alternative is to tax the rich (this will cause companies to seek labour elsewhere, a required tradeoff), as there are a smaller number of them but they earn most of the money. They'll still get a very large sum to live on (with little effect to quality of life), no doubt about that, but not as much. So what Obama is trying to do here is juggle between more jobs vs less debt. You did have the potential to do both when you had the money. The attempt just flopped. However it did avert a much bigger depression (which would have been the result of Bush's economic policies and lax regulations). So basically, the recession was not as bad as it could've been (see Great Depression) because the government pumped money into it. It was also not as potent as it could've been, the package had a smaller effect than it should have. Also, exactly the wrong timing to introduce universal healthcare (which by the way, is very good here in the UK. We have a welfare state and it works) because of the expensive wars and the recession. It's just that I'm reading newspapers, reading articles, doing economics essays and then I always come across some anti-Obama sentiment on economic policy. He's doing exactly what I would've done (with minor alterations, but Keynesian economic policy is where we stand together), which most economists would also have done in the UK. It's just not working as well as it should. READ BEFORE POSTING!Forgot to add a bit about Bush-era tax cuts for the rich but w/e.Byrd I've already established that point. It's a required trade-off. If we were to take your economic policy, what would happen is: 1. More jobs, more business, debt rises 2. More jobs, more business, debt reaches unsustainable levels 3. Government defaults (lack of federal money) 4. Job market collapses, companies relocate to more stable markets. Far fewer jobs. No debt. Which by the way is what caused the Great Depression. Economics 101, learn it!You are, by the way, the 'disillusioned' person in the question. -------------------------------------------------------------- Anyways, great answer orisons! I think that has more to do with the approval ratings and politics than economics though. Great answer anyways moreVoting Question: What was the reason for the iraq war?

I just came across this in Ha'aretz today: 150 Irish artists announce Israel cultural boycott --- My question to Israeli's is this - what do you think of Ireland and the Irish. Do you find them to be innately anti-Semitic, or legitimately at the forefront of anti-Zionist policies in Europe? Or do you not care and think otherwise? Are these artists merely continuing in the path of Irish anti-antisemitism? I find them to be some of the most anti-Semitic, and anti-Israeli people in the world. They are charming one on one however. It is not just that individual Irish people such as Mary Robinson continue to take actions that reflect a very one-sided view of the situation in the Middle East (and in Mary's case run the infamous Durban conference in South Africa) I have traveled to Ireland (I am an American Jew) and have found the people to be charming but very anti-Semitic one-on-one. Note, I mean anti-Semitic and not just anti-Zionist History bears this out. Ireland has a long history of anti-semtisim. For reference, in April 1945, after Hitler committed suicide, and after the world knew about the holocaust, the "George Washington" of Ireland, Eamon DeValera, paid a controversial visit to to the German embassy to express sympathy with the German people over the death of the Führer. The Irish people supported this visit. De Valera frequently expressed support for Hitler duing the war. A pogrom in Limerick in 1904 and a boycott of Jewish businesses caused Jews to leave the city. There was some domestic anti-Jewish sentiment during World War II, most notably expressed in a notorious speech to the Dáil in 1943, when newly-elected independent T.D. Oliver J. Flanagan advocated "routing the Jews out of the country" I can quote more references.Rabbi for you: yes, Justice for sure! That is why the founding father of Ireland visited the German embassy fully known about the holocaust against six million jews isnt it? Justice for what? The Killing of Jesus Christ by the hated Jews? Sorry, nothing you can say can justify the actions of the Irish government against the Jews in the past.Rabbi for you: yes, Justice for sure! I am using the traditional definition of anti-antisemitism which was coined in the late 1800's and applied only to hatred of the Jews. Also, the usage also is used in a anti-Jewish context and does not apply to Arabs. But you can replace this term "anti-semitism" with "hatred of Jews". I would guess that it is a concept you are well familiar with.Kevin-- Very true my friend. I have many Irish American friends who, to be quite honest about it, love their Jewish neighbors. BTW please take a look at this post I wrote on why every New Yorker becomes Irish on St. Pattys day. http://eddihaskell.blogspot.com/2010/03/five-hour-parade-in-new-york-tomrrow.htmlCurious: Actually the Republic of Ireland has a very good educational system when it comes to teaching science and computers. Their literacy is near 100%. They do have one of the highest standards of living in Europe now, and are considered, like Israel, to be a high tech center. However, I must agree that their educational system is slanted towards covering one side of the mid east conflict. In this regard, they are woefully behind. moreResolved Question: Why don't anti-feminists acknowledge the misogyny and lack of tolerance for people's lifestyle choices?

I'm not trolling. But based on my personal experiences and historical factors, I think there is pretty evident. The levels are anti-Japanese sentiments in each country from most to least: 1. North Koreans 2. Mainland Chinese 3. South Koreans 4. Filipinos, Malaysians and many other SEA/Pacific Island nations 5. Americans 6. Ethnic Chinese diaspora in SE Asia as well as Hong Kong/Macau (the Japanese invaded Hong Kong as well!) 7. Everyone else 8. I hear that American anger toward BP is being called "anti-British sentiment" in Britain. Is that true? Do you -the average Brit- really think that "Joe American" blames you for BP's negligence? moreResolved Question: What are your thoughts: Killing of Arizona Latinos Blamed on Hate and SB 1070?
Why do people say that there is no hate fueling SB1070? http://immigration.change.org/blog/view/killing_of_arizona_latinos_blamed_on_hate_and_sb_1070 Killing of Arizona Latinos Blamed on Hate and SB 1070 According to Juan Varela's family, SB 1070 isn't just a civil rights travesty: it has also caused the death of at least one Arizona Latino. Varela was shot dead after an argument with a white neighbor, Gary Thomas Kelley, over Arizona's harsh new anti-immigrant law. Despite the fact that Varela was a U.S. citizen — in fact, he was a third generation American — Kelley allegedly yelled before shooting Varela, "You fucking wetback! Go back to Mexico!" Back? When he was born in America? Varela's family blames the extreme anti-immigrant, anti-Latino sentiment caused by fear mongering around the passage of SB 1070 for the death of their loved one. The Phoenix Police Department has finally decided to charge Kelley with a hate crime, after initially refusing to do so, raising the ire of Varela's family and friends Varela's murder isn't the only one with links to SB 1070. Two other Latino men were killed near the Arizona border earlier this month, and while some reports have tried to pin the crime on drug smugglers, there are two additional details to the story that suggest otherwise. In another violent incident this month, two men in camouflage opened fire on a group of people attempting to illegally cross the border into the United States. Police again said that it could be drug smugglers or an anti-immigrant group; my money is on the latter.@Buddy, thanks for proving to us that it's not about upholding our laws, it's another agenda. moreResolved Question: Can I have pride in my heritage?
I'm a Russian-Ukranian Jew, but born in America. My entire family lived in Russia and Ukraine for centuries and I'm the first generation American. I speak and read Russian and grew up with all of their Russian and Ukranian customs, I visit my relatives there every year. I'm proud to be born here in America and all, but I really want to have Russian/Ukranian pride. I just find myself having a hard time doing so because of the large former anti jewish sentiments that occurred there over the centuries including pogroms. Some anti jewish sentiments still occur even today. So even though I really want to be proud of my Ukrainian and Russian heritage I find it hard to support them in light of how they treated my ancestors in the distant past. Just wondering about your opinions. Would it be wrong to be proud of my Russian/Ukrainian heritage? moreResolved Question: Are people who think the US occupation of the middle east is not about oil ignorant or are they stupid?
"It's important for Americans to remember that America imports more than 50 percent of its oil -- more than 10 million barrels a day. And the figure is rising. [..]this dependence on foreign oil is a matter of national security. To put it bluntly, sometimes we rely upon energy sources from countries that don't particularly like us." - George W. Bush, February 25, 2002 May 1, 2003, US invades Iraq. From now to 2020, world oil consumption will rise by about 60%. Transportation will be the fastest growing oil-consuming sector. By 2025, the number of cars will increase to well over 1.25 billion from approximately 700 million today. Global consumption of gasoline could double. The two countries with the highest rate of growth in oil use are China and India, whose combined populations account for a third of humanity. In the next two decades, China's oil consumption is expected to grow at a rate of 7.5% per year and India’s 5.5%. (Compare to a 1% growth for the industrialized countries). It will be strategically imperative for these countries to secure their access to oil. Proved oil reserves are those quantities of oil that geological information indicates can be with reasonable certainty recovered in the future from known reservoirs. Of the trillion barrels currently estimated, 6% are in North America, 9% in Central and Latin America, 2% in Europe, 4% in Asia Pacific, 7% in Africa, 6% in the Former Soviet Union. Today, 66% of global oil reserves are in the hands of Middle Eastern regimes: Saudi Arabia (25%), Iraq (11%), Iran (8%), UAE (9%), Kuwait (9%), and Libya (2%). Projecting 2001 production levels, by 2020 83% of global oil reserves will be controlled by Middle Eastern regimes. The U.S. will need to keep increasing American military presence in the region to ensure access to the remaining oil. This will mean further U.S. embroilment in Middle East conflicts, more anti-American sentiment, and a deepening rift between the West and the Islamic world. Are people who think the US occupation of the middle east is not about oil ignorant or are they stupid? moreResolved Question: Racism exists in America period. Whether sacking requires 'NUKES" or lesser weapons, we really need to ask ourselves what is the lesser evil?,....Prolonging wars in the middle east in the name of Diplomacy is failing. Nukes I personally think is unnecesary but We can be much more aggresive and stop pampering these people. I would have a diffrent view if there was a large movement within the muslim world that condemned the extremism but that voice doesnt exist because of anti american sentiment they are all rooting for these extremists, and they are laughing at our 'diplomacy" which is nothing more than throwing money at them. Basic phscology...be the dominant swiftly and decisivley. If you use Japan as an example, the nuke worked...less bloodshed...and THEN we rebuilt and look at them now. A success story. Utah may be diving head-first into a “race to the bottom” with Arizona to make the state as frightening as possible for people who look or sound “foreign.” Last Monday, a group calling itself “Concerned Citizens of the United States” issued a list of 1,300 Utah residents it claims are illegal immigrants. The list of Hispanic names, birth dates, workplaces, addresses, phone numbers and Social Security numbers was sent to law enforcement agencies and news media demanding that those included be deported immediately. Women who are pregnant are noted along with their exact due dates, and the list specifies that steps should be taken for their immediate deportation. The names of children are also included in the list. The accuracy of the list is dubious, reflective of the myth-making that often fuels anti-immigrant sentiment. By Wednesday, at least two women on the list and contacted by the The Salt Lake Tribune reported that they were actually in the country lawfully. In a letter accompanying the list, the unidentified authors chillingly state that they have been observing the individuals in “our” neighborhoods, streets, stores, schools and public welfare buildings. They claim additional information was obtained through infiltrating the “social networks” of those identified. New lists are promised on a continual basis, presumably until every last “illegal” has been hunted down and many thousands of innocent people have been spied on and harassed by vigilantes. Notably, these anonymous “Concerned Citizens” make no effort to account for their own identities or the legality of their collection and dissemination of personally identifiable information. On Friday, state officials announced they have identified two Utah state workers who illegally accessed state databases to help compile this list. They’ve been put on administrative leave. Attorney General Mark Shurtleff promised an “immediate, aggressive, formal investigation.” The ACLU of Utah commends the swift action of Gov. Herbert and AttorneyGeneral Shurtleff in responding to investigate the release of private information once the list became public. It was critical that many senior state officials and legislators spoke out againstthe breaches and intimidation tactics. These security breaches also make clear that the government must do a better job of restricting access to and protecting databases containing such highly personal information. While this list is a disturbing new development, this apparently private action is symptomatic of what has been frequently condoned by government – This racial profiling, is swelling beneath the tourist-friendly, family-values face that Utah presents to the rest of the World and nation. State legislators have promised to introduce a bill modeled on Arizona’s S.B. 1070 in the upcoming legislative session, drawing encouragement rather than discouragement from the Justice Department lawsuit challenging Arizona’s law. In 2008, Utah passed an omnibus anti-immigration bill, S.B. 81. Arizona’s new law has Utah and some other states wondering how they can copy it and make things even worse, and Gov. Herbert has signaled that he will sign yet another ill-conceived immigration bill. Hopefully Utahns realize, as their leaders now seem to do, that the list went too far. The anonymous compiling of personal information and the watchful, spying eyes of vigilante groups is cowardly and antithetical to long-established American ideals of liberty and individual sovereignty. In a few weeks, Gov. Herbert is convening a roundtable of Utah legislators and community leaders to discuss immigration. This is the right time to responsibly address the intimidation and rising fears of a significant and diverse part of Utah’s population. Rather than follow Arizona’s lead to the bottom, Utah can shift course to reclaim its reputation for compassion, integrity and a respect for all. http://lezgetreal.com/2010/07/shocking-utah-emulates-nazi-strategy/comment-page-1/ moreResolved Question: Why would anyone support the building of a Mosque at the 9/11 World Trade center site?
I know in this time everyone is expected to be politically correct, however, with the ongoing wars, the anti-American sentiments by Muslims, why would anyone believe this will be peace building process? Shouldn't his be seen as a sign of gloating by Muslims? Imagine being able to post your victory sign on the trampled ground of your enemy. Come on anyone paying attention, or will we have to be taught another lesson before our eyes are opened. It is amazing how naive some people are, look at some of the responses. Were you not the same people crying after the death of almost 3000 innocent victims? Now here you are supporting those who supported the cowardly killers. Many have lost loved ones to criminal acts before, would you allow their family members to post a memorial representative of themselves at your home or the home of the victim? That would be rather stupid and insensitive. moreResolved Question: Open question to people of Nicaraguan descent ONLY: Are the gringos ruining Nicaragua?

I have led a happy, fruitful and profitable existence in the United States for my 29 plus years of residing in this great country, and I would have never thought to abandon my adopted home for any other place in the world. But now that there is a possibly undocumented Black president in charge of the United States, who is advocating a form of " socialism " akin very much to early forms of Leninism and could eeriely turn into a form of NATIONAL SOCIALISM ( ala a certain Austrian-born man turned German dictator named Adolf Hitler ), and considering the overwhelming anti-Latino sentiment that is enveloping the United States of America every day, I am sad to say I am looking for more " familiar " surroundings and would prefer to be among people who share I share a common historical, racial and cultural bond with, much like the shared bonds I THOUGHT I had with the Americans, but I see they no longer exist, and quite possibly NEVER HAVE. I have visited Nicaragua Eight times since 1992, the last time being 2008, and I have not only seen the population boom in Managua of Nicaraguans but I have also seen the wholesale colonization of Nicaragua's treasured cities, such as Granada ( where my Maternal grandmother was born ), I have heard of the American and European encroachment into San Juan del Sur, and just yesterday I saw an article on MSN about how the great city of LEON, NICARAGUA is one of the top 5 places in the world for a gringo to retire on his SS pension. Now, seeing as how many gringos have enough money to buy the colonial homes and other parcels of rich and wonderful land has to offer, I cannot truly blame Daniel Ortega and his cronies for pocketing gringo and European cash for such a thing but unfortunately this coming at a high cost for the average, piss-poor Nicaraguan peasant who cannot afford to even live in a house, but rather has to make do with a few wood planks and a literal pot to pee in. When Daniel Ortega and the Sandinistas came into power in 1979, it was only after 15 years of a guerrilla war waged against the admittingly corrupt Somoza regime by the Sandinistas, it's Cuban alliies, the total betrayal of Nicaragua's traditional allies like Costa Rica, Colombia, and Venezuela, and ultimately though the sheer rage, frustration and anger of Nicaraguan " descamisados " ( paying homage to the late great " Reina " de Argentina, Eva Peron ) CAN SUCH A THING HAPPEN AGAIN IN NICARAGUA OR IS NICARAGUA FATED TO FINALLY BECOME A VASSAL STATE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, SOMETHING IT HAS RESISTED FOR OVER 2 CENTURIES IN ESSENCE BUT NOW THROUGH SHEER PART AND PARCEL, THROUGH ECONOMIC SERVITUDE AND ENSLAVEMENT ARE THE NICARAGUANS NOW FINALLY GOING TO BECOME TRUE SLAVES OF THE GRINGOS? Just a thought to ponder. I welcome all replies. moreResolved Question: What are some Latin American US Friendly Vacation Spots?
My wife is a US Citizen who was born and raised in South America. I myself speak Spanish quite well, well enough to communicate independently with her parents, who don't speak any English at all. So, although I am a gringo, I have a considerable understanding of and great appreciation for Latin American culture. I also know that it's an unfortunate fact that the US is not the most popular place to many countries. But, I would still like to surprise my wife and take her somewhere in Latin America that she has never been, possibly Uruguay, Argentina, ETC. I LOVE Panama and Colombia, but I have already been there. Does anyone have any ideas where I could go where there isn't too much Anti-US sentiment? I noticed a lot of anti american sentiment aimed at american citizens which really ticks me off. Also, as stupid as americans are made out to be, i have failed to meet one who thinks europe is a state of america. moreResolved Question: Why do the Chinese hate America(ns)? Or american values or "Westerners"?
I have become the butt of anti-american sentiment in the office, although I am not American, and being Australian apparently is the same as being American, which is ofcourse the same as being British in a very strange logic. Furthermore, aussies and brits are percieved as following "America" and it's "bad" ways. Ofcourse there are no concrete examples to back up these arguments about how "CHina is so good and Chinese are better people than America and Americans or white people," just random references to Chinese books like "Currency Wars," "Unhappy China" and "China can say no." Whilst I could not discern any logical argumentative frame of thought from the rants of these people, I could definitely feel that distance; how you are not one of them and they are reluctant to share further views with you, but they hate America and you embody "America" even though you aren't a yank to begin with. Has anyone felt this? Here are my queries: Why do these people lump us altogether into this enormously broad category called "The West." Why do these people hate America or americans? Yet they do not come across americans, nor do they speak to them socially; (apart from business meetings i suppose). moreResolved Question: Why is there an anti-intellectual sentiment among so many Americans?

If AZ law is so bad Florida Republican leaders drawing up Arizona-styled anti-immigrant legislation Obama will he sue the entire US ?Florida Republican leaders have begun crafting anti-illegal-immigrant legislation modeled after an Arizona law that has incited widespread protests and fueled national and international debate over U.S. immigration policies. Under the proposed bill, police would have broad power under state law to ask suspects for proof of legal residency, said Rep. William Snyder, a Republican from Stuart who plans to introduce the legislation in November. "We have significant components from the Arizona bill that I plan to incorporate," he said. "We have the beginnings of it." The effort, which would be filed for consideration during the March legislative session, is already drawing broad support within the GOP. In an election year shaped by anti-incumbency sentiment, majority leaders in the Florida Senate and House said a new approach is needed to address the federal government's failure to temper illegal immigration. The effort has the backing of both leading Republican gubernatorial candidates — businessman Rick Scott and Attorney General Bill McCollum. In fact, McCollum's office is helping to draft the bill. Snyder, a former police officer, said the proposed legislation is needed to protect undocumented immigrants, who are vulnerable to abusive employers and violent criminals. "This is a human right issue," he said. "They don't enjoy the same rights and privileges that you and I do. The solution is to enforce the laws that currently exist and to discourage people from coming here to 'find a better life' when in fact they just come here and are victimized." Immigrant advocates and Hispanic lawmakers alike called the measure an unconstitutional assault on minority communities. "The reaction is, 'What? This is ridiculous,' " said Neelofer Syed, a Tampa immigration lawyer who hails from Pakistan. "It is supposed to be that you are legal until you are proven guilty. This law is like, 'we think you are guilty unless you establish that you are innocent.' " Rep. J.C. Planas, a Republican from Miami, called it an election year stunt. "I don't understand how anyone can think the Arizona law is good for Florida," said Planas, chairman of the Florida Hispanic Legislative Caucus. "It is a huge waste of police resources to start doing these things." Senate and House leaders said immigration reform is ripe for passage. "What we want to do is encourage legal immigration and discourage illegal immigration," said incoming Senate President Mike Haridopolos, who cautioned that any changes will be shaped by how the Arizona law is put into practice after it takes effect next month. Republican leaders in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Minnesota, South Carolina and Michigan have made similar vows to mirror Arizona's immigration law, amid growing criticism that the federal government has not adequately protected the nation's borders. Civil rights groups such as the American Civil Liberties Union have filed legal challenges to the legislation and President Barack Obama's administration is expected to follow suit. Critics questioned why Florida lawmakers would consider replicating Arizona's untested immigration strategy while legal challenges are still pending. "Rep. Snyder's proposal solves nothing, exploits public concern over immigration and just creates new problems," said Howard Simon, executive director of ACLU Florida. The tension has become a rallying point for candidates on both sides of the political spectrum. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink has highlighted her Republican opponents' support of the law in stump speeches. "She was opposed to the law in Arizona,'' said campaign spokeswoman Kyra Jennings. "She believes it unfairly discriminated against American citizens. She would veto that type of legislation." Championing tougher immigration laws is a risky election strategy, said George Gonzalez, a University of Miami political science professor. http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/stateroundup/florida-republican-leaders-drawing-up-arizona-styled-anti-immigrant/1105078 moreResolved Question: How does it really feel?
How does it feel to promote a music-based movement/culture that glorifies crime, anarchy, and anti-white sentiments thus raising the current generation to devolve into a self-induced racial slump. When will it stop? When all the great-great-great grandkids of all those who owned slaves are dead? Or once affirmative action pretty much assures african-american individuals any job they want regardless of qualifications? moreResolved Question: Why does the American government WANT its borders open? What can Americans do about it?
Contrary to many reports, the government is not "failing" to secure its borders. It simply DOES NOT WANT TO SECURE ITS BORDERS, especially the southern one. So, my first question is, Why? Is the goal to create some kind of North American union? If so, what does that mean exactly? Secondly, as a suggestion to confront this issue, we are often encouraged to sign petitions or call our congressman or call the whitehouse ( http://littleurl.net/cd930e ). Is this not ridiculous? The implication there is that the government is just not aware that border security is essential to preserve a nation, and that concerned citizens just need to TEACH them. Then all will be well. Obviously, there has been an agenda against the best interest of the average American for a LONG time. The Obama, Bush, and Clinton administrations are just newer spokes in the same wheel that has been driving this anti-American sentiment since the Kennedy administration. So, where does the average American turn?Rico, we can put a man on the moon, split an atom in half, make Flavor Flav a millionaire... There many reasonable solutions to border control, including RPVs ( http://stevenmcollins.com/WordPress/?p=2465 ). Also, just simply enforcing laws which prohibit employers from hiring them doesn't exactly sound impossible. moreResolved Question: Could anyone correct the second part of my essay? The essay is in English, but I am Italian?
The nineteenth-century American woman was still considerated the half of a man, she was a property to be passed from a father to a husband, she did not have the right of a proper education and to manage her properties, even her wages, in church she had (and still has) a subordinate position, but above all she had not the right to vote. Men considerate women like children, that is they were not assumed to have their own opinions and to be able to take their own decisions, for this reason religion was “exactly what a woman needed, for it gives her that dignity that best suits her dependence” (Welter 153). Slaves and Women linked their arms in solidarity, and women fought a double battle, one for the slaves and another for themselves against dependence, submission, tyranny, violence, degradation, believes such as their natural inferiority, they all wanted to obtain equality, independence, a proper education, wages and in general the inaliable rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” that the Declaration of Independence assured to the American citizens. Indeed in both the Declaration of Sentiments by the American anti-slavery Convention and in the Declaration of Sentiments by Women’s Rights they quoted the initial statement of the Declaration of Independence as the starting point of their demand of equality and of rights. In December 1833 the American Anti-slavery Convention assembled in Philadelphia to organize a National Anti-Slavery Society and promulgated the Declaration of Sentiments. While Women wrote and signed their Declaration of Sentiments in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848. An important common feature is the constant reference to God and religion. At first accepting Christianity became part of accepting America as home, but over time, large numbers of slaves found the biblical message of spiritual equality before God appealing and found comfort in the biblical theme of deliverance. Indeed in their Declaration of Sentiments they wrote “That every American citizen, who detains a human being in involuntary bondage as his property, is, according to Scripture, (Ex, xxi. 16) a man-stealer: that the slaves ought instantly to be set free, and brought under the protection of law” (Garrison 69). Garrison stated that slavery was a “presumptuous transgression of all the holy commandments” (ibidem). Abolitionists steadily believed that God made all men equals and whites had to respect His law. Even David Walker in his Appeal believed in the Gospel and in the Justice of God beyond this World. So when he criticized the former president of the United States Jefferson for his Notes on Virginia, he wrote “he is gone to answer at the bar of God” (Walker http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part4/4h2931t.html). Besides Walker believed that God made all men equal and afterwards in his rhetoric question to the readers he asked: Did our Creator make us to be slaves to dust and ashes like ourselves? Are they not dying worms as well as we? Have they not to make their appearance before the tribunal of Heaven, to answer for the deeds done in the body, as well as we? Have we any other Master but Jesus Christ alone? Is he not their Master as well as ours? -- What right then, have we to obey and call any other Master, but Himself? How we could be so submissive to a gang of men, whom we cannot tell whether they are as good as ourselves or not, I never could conceive. However, this is shut up with the Lord, and we cannot precisely tell -- but I declare, we judge men by their works. moreResolved Question: Not all democrats are stupid! do you agree? Or just Obama?
When it comes to healthcare and illegal immigration, democrats are split on the views. As we know democrats favor abortion, gay marriage , higher taxes and big business interest, and big government. Liberal extremists favor anarchy at the border. While democrats support this view because they vote in favor of democratic leaders who support this form of racism in favor of one race(Mexian/Latino) with amnesty doesn't mean they actually support open borders. apparently, he came out of nowhere, living in his dads house, unemployed, although he until recently served in the air force, and army before that, receiving four medals on the way. he also apparently is waiting on a court decision where someone alleges that he showed pornography to a student at the University of South Carolina, which has not reached a verdict yet. he won the primary against the incumbent, who served four terms, after Alvin Green spent very little money campaigning, won with a 59% majority. people have apparently claimed that some reasons for his win (and candidacy) could be that (1), for voters unfamilar with either candidate, voted for greene because his name was on top. i sincerely hope this is not the reason, because it just proves how little effort voters put intp choosing a candidate, in most cases just looking at the political party; or (2), the surname "Greene" is popular among african americans, and voters wanting a black senator would've chosen this candidate. do I need to explain just why i hope this isnt the reason?; or (3), that some voters may have confused the name "Alvin Greene" with the soul singer "Al Green". i hope this isnt the case because choosing a candidate because they are a celebrity is just ridiculous. for one, they are usually dumb. two, its already shown just how much legal leeway they receive in court trials, with cases like michael jackson, the 1995 oj simpson trial, martha stewart, paris hilton, and probably at LEAST to some degree in politics with Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger; and my own reasoning, yet to be hypothesized by the media, (4) because of the recent anti-incumbent sentiment held, and because there hasn't been a black U.S. senator in the south since Reconstruction. however, i think that he would make an ok candidate. anyone who served as long as he did in the military should be a pretty good one, at least compared to the liars and cheaters we have in now. South carlina has recently been a hotbed of political scandals, and it was suggested that this could be another one, with some people saying that he is a republican plant, which personally doesnt make ANY sense to me, as he has had VERY little advertising, no website, and even no yard signs or bumper stickers. if he was a republican plant to beat out the incumbent, then it certainly was a bad execution of one at that. and there has been criticism to his form of speech, when he replies to yes or no questions, al he gives is a yes or a no, while politicians usually give a short, vague speech, using words that nearly every american is in favor of, e.g. "pro life", and "pro choice", every likes life, and everyone likes being able to choose, right? phrasing started by politicians. when you serve in the military, thats how you are trained to respond. you arent supposed to ask questions, or give lengthy elaborations, you are supposed to simply say "sir yes sir" or "sir no sir", without any questions. and after the probably ten years or so he served, you would expect that that would be how he speaks in nearly all situations.i dont want 2 be a cons- im saying i hope thats not the reason because i DONT want a politician elected by race. and this is not my reason, it was given by Senator Robert Ford in an interview on the topic, the only one of those reasons which was mine was reason number 4. the other 3 were taken entirely from another person, i just put them into my additional details, and i am not saying those are my views.and what makes you think that this has any RACIST motivation??? i am FOR his election!! In recent light of viscious hate crime attacks on asian americans in my own community I've begun to see a larger picture of anti asian sentiment in the US. At first like most people I felt that anti asian racism although was offensive wasn't that harmful, not like racism against blacks or hispanics. I simply viewed it as ignorant name calling. But now I see that America is afraid of Asian people, they hide their fears with false confidence and loud mouths. I see now the true strength of Asian culture is in its ability to endure insult and great suffering in order to work toward a greater goal. To shut up and not be drawn down to the level of others. This unnerves and scares Americans to the core, because this is something Americans are to insecure to do, they respond to everything with shouting and violence. But I don't pity them, I don't feel bad for them because in their insecurities and fears they have perpatrated heinous crimes against asians time and again. And in our schools these acts of violent hatred are not being taught to our children. Therefore many grow up without the knowledge that in this country there exists a old and deep rooted hatred of Asian people. Despite the fact that Asians have been in this country for over 160 years we are not yet considered Americans, many people point to the fact that any kind of new immigrant is treated harshly at first, thats true. But in the case of Asians its different, for example even though my family has had ties to the US since the Gold Rush I'm still asked if I "Speaky English" and the fact that the Chinese are the only immigrant group in US history who have had laws passed banning them from the country only reinforces my point. And the fact that the ban took until 1945 to be changed is even worse. I guess my point is that while many in our community are strong and good enough to turn the other cheek a bottled anger is building up in some of us. I think a prime example is the virginia tech shooter cho seung hui. many people point to his mental illness and being a loner that fueled his rage, what was under reported by the media was harsh racist treatment he probably went through. I've seen how Asians (especially immigrants) are treated in school settings (especially in suburban schools) and it's enough to make you wanna off some people, fortunately most are mentally strong enough to take it and not hurt anyone. I believe that had Cho would not have gone on a shooting spree had it not been for the systematic degradation he endured for his heritage, the fact that he was prone to or had mental illness pushed him over the edge. Anyway I hope the Asian community starts to stand up for itself more, while turning the other cheek is noble I believe that in light of recent widespread violence against asian americans, its time to stand up and put people in their place. You all need to shut the fuck up and learn your history. There are literally millions of stories out there and some even being created as we speak of brutal attacks on the asian community. Everyone says oh don't complain asians don't have it that bad, the reason you say this is because the media UNDER reports incidents of racisms and hate crimes against us. Asian kids are literally being taunted harassed and sometimes beaten on a daily basis. Our culture is constantly portrayed in a joking way by the media and by our peers, we get literally NO respect and this does in fact have a huge effect on self esteem.wow u guys r so right, you telling me that asians are capable of racism was something that never occurred to me. In fact it was a mind blowing revelation that completely changed my view on the world. Because Asians apparently don't experience as bad racism as others we have no right whatsoever to ever complain or speak up about it. I totally get it I'm on a high horse because I'm capable of getting fed up with racial harassment and want to vent on the internet. And when I do suddenly "experts" on world cultures and history pop out of the woodwork to tell me to shut up, invalidate my observations and call me a whiner. Do you realize that across the US asians are getting beaten and murdered and people continuously fail to admit that these attacks were and have been racially motivated? do you realize that Vincent Chin's murderers are still out walking the streets because of our racist judicial system? Do you even know who Vincent Chin was and what happened to him? sadly probably not moreResolved Question: history queestion help!?

...from the public? because If it was Mexican or Arab, I promise you you would've seen some anti-Mexican or anti-Arab sentiment. instead since it's British and they're white, we see next to nothing. Americans if they cared about this country, would stand outside every British embassy burning their flag and protesting the lack of regulation in the UK's upper management that led to this; watch the PBS interview with Tony Heyward, it'd make you really angry that they didn't even care about what they were doing in the Mexican gulf. moreTop Anti American Sentiment Links
