Resolved Question: How long does a diaper yeast infection last?
My 11 month old son has a yeast infection and a stomach virus (the doctor thinks that's what caused the yeast infection). He is simply miserable. It's been about three days so far. How long do you think it will last? this is the treatment I'm currently using (The Doctor didn't recommend any anti fungal creams): 1. Feed baby lots of whole yogurt with live cultures. 2. Feed baby an Acidophilus capsule (just the powder mixed with a very small amount of food) 3 times a day. 3. Change diaper frequently and keep it on loosely 4. Rinse bum in a bath with water and vinegar twice a day. Dry thoroughly. 5. Let him go without a diaper most of the time and be in the sun if possible. 6. Wipe a mixture of water and tea tree oil on bum and let dry. 7. Put a mix of Whole plain yogurt, A few Acidophilus capsules, A and D ointment (lanolin and petroleum), and Desitin (Zinc Oxide) on bum whenever you put a diaper on. 8. Give lots of love and Tylenol or Motrin for pain. How long do you think it will last?Yes the acidophilus is safe. The doctor recommended the acidophilus and the cream/yogurt mix. The tee trea oil is anti fungal. She just didn't think there was a need for anything else. moreOpen Question: Is there anything else to try to save our bent in u-shape, gasping goldfish?
Baby has always been big and healthy. He is 6 yrs old and recently stopped swimming around and sitting on the bottom of his tank. We took him out and put him in his own little bowl. We've added sea salt, anti-fungal drops and kept the water fresh for almost two days now. We keep thinking he's about to leave us, but he keeps hanging on. What else can we do to save him? moreResolved Question: why are my hot pepper plants dying?
they are in good potting soil and i water them every day. i spray them with an anti fungal. i bought them from the Home Depot garden center as seedlings. they are not growing and the leaves are turing brown from the edges. they are dying. what shall i do to rejuvinate them? moreOpen Question: How do I treat my betta's out of control fin rot?
My betta fish Bijou has fin rot that appeared shortly after I got him and has persisted now for months. He lives in a 3 gallon filtered tank with the temperature around 76 degrees. I do weekly 50-90% water changes after agitation of the gravel to release organic waste, and also regular changing of the filter cartridge of the tank. I have been reading conflicting things about Melafix, Bettafix.. I even saw a "betta revive medication" that sounded like it was what I needed, but it dyed the water! I read about using methylene blue and an anti-fungal. I also read about salts. Could Bijou's problem be as easy as adding a little aquarium salt to his tank? I would really appreciate feedback from some experienced betta owners about what would be the best way to solve this problem. moreResolved Question: two questions, ringworm & food!? help?
So I have two questions! I just took my 9 month old kitten to the vet because of a rash on her neck, and he says he thinks it is ring worm. So he gave her an antibiotic shot and told us to but an anti fungal cream at the drugstore. So we are supposed to apply it as many times a day as we can. So what is a decent number of times a day to put the cream on? and does anyone else have any experiences with ringworm that they can share? I'm a concerned momma! lol and the second question...... I have been feeding my kitty Wellness indoor health, but she is not a huge fan of it, she just doesn't like it. So i went to my local petfood store and got some samples, and of the samples she loved one called california natural. So i am feeding her the wellness right now, to finish it up. And i bought her a bag of the california natual and i plan to start her on that when she is almost done this bag of wellness. But when i was at the vet he asked what we were feeding her so we told him Wellness. He then told us we should feed her either, Iams, Purina, Science diet, or royal canin. BUt i dont know what to do!?!? i thought iams/purina/science diet were not good food to feed your pet!? insight is much appreciated moreOpen Question: Why does my neighbor pour truck loads of milk on his field?
I live in a rural area. Last year (in the late summer I think) right after my neighbor started a cemetery for his wife who passed away and one of his friends, he started driving truck loads of milk into his field near the graves, opening the gallon, half gallon, and milk pouches up and poured them all over the field. He's filling his truck bed up with milk and at times bringing a couple of loads in a week! He's not doing it as much since it has been Winter but he is still doing it. I've read that milk can be anti-fungal and a deer repellent. Aside from just seeming totally bizarre it is causing some problems. One being that last year we had a MAJOR bear problem and I suspect that the smell of rotten milk was drawing them into the area. Another problem is that he is inconsiderate and letting the emptied containers sit in his field and blow around all over the woods and into our driveway. Does anyone know what he is up to?he doesn't sell milk. these are packaged, labeled, unopened containers of milk that i can only assume came from a store... it's probably expired milk. we have seen him driving this stuff in from somewhere else. moreResolved Question: Wondering about Basement mold?-very clueless?
I am 18 years old and I want to move back home from dorming. I would prefer moving to the basement rather than moving back in with my sister, but in order to do that I would need to fix the mold problem. It is a new problem, and does not look like it is everywhere, just on the carpet and the walls of the barthroom down there. Would I need to get a mold company to come? If so, how much can it cost? It is a small room in the basement, with carpet (that I want to get rid of anyway) and a small bathroom and a small kitchen. The rest of the basement is tile and does not look like there is mold. Would I be able to get rid of the mold myself? I heard that you can do it by buying anti fungal cleaners. How much would an estimate from a mold company cost? moreOpen Question: help ringworm question?
ok well i think i have a ringworm and it might be spreading. The first one i don't even remember the first time i saw it because i didn't really pay attention to it. I didn't know what it was but a few dat ago i saw another circilur "rash". So i start it looking up in images some rashes that looked like mine so i came across one that look almost like mine. I clicked on it and it said it was a ringworm so i started to panic because i saw it can get really bad. Now its spreading i have like five really small pimple like new ones under my arms, two or three in each of my inner thighs and a like two where your leg connects to your body. i cant remeber what its called. so on saturday i started to put some anti fungal cream just at night monday i started to put it on twice a day and today im going to keep using it twice a day keep cover it up with some gass(idk how to spell it) and medical tape i think its called wash my hands every time i touch my skin before and after. so i wanted to know is there something else i can do to make em disapear faster and how long is the normal time it takes to see results with the anti fungal cream or how long should i wait until i do see the doctor. also i work with dogs and cat but none seem to have it can the have ringworm without any signs and how can i protect em so they dont get ringworm. thanks and sorry for making you read so much.wanted to know if it can also spread while takin a shower moreOpen Question: I have this weird itch in my penis?
Sorry for length. Hi I am a 20 year old black male with a circumcised penis. I am a pretty healthy guy. Now me and my boyfriend recently decided to experiment sexually with each other. Usually he is the top in the relationship and I am the bottom(meaning I receive the penis). But two weeks ago he decided to reverse roles. We were kissing and I was on top and he pushed my penis up against his hole and it slightly went it but not really and he stopped me. We stopped and then he put a condom on me and we proceeded for about 15 secs. My boyfriend told me he stopped because he felt he wasn't "clean" (meaning he hadn't washed his ass prior to the brief intercourse or had a good bowel movement). After wards we reversed and finished our night. When I went home I washed up as usual and cleaned my penis because i began to think about the whole not so clean thing. A day or so later I noticed that my penis began itching. I remember this happened one time to my boyfriend after having unprotected intercourse with me a couple years back and I wasn't so "clean". But he said it went away after like a day or so. Now I thought maybe i had some fecal material inside my urethra so I did some research and thought i maybe had a male yeast infection and balanitis. I had some jock itch cream with 1% clomitrazole that i just finished using to treat what i thought was jock itch continued treating until a day after me trying to top my boyfriend. Online it said to try to self medicate with anti-fungal cream so i rubbed the jock itch cream on my penis, and applied twice a day. Once i did that the itching went away almost instantly (the itching was so bad that i actually discovered i had rubbed the skin off of my penis, leaving it bleeding and then slightly scabbed and healed I know gross!) and after several hours the itching returned ad I'd apply the medication.. After a few days, the itching stopped for almost an entire day so i thought it was maybe a small case of balanitis since my head wasn't as swollen or red as the people in the pictures. That Sunday me and my boyfriend had intercourse with me being the top but I wore a condom. The next day, I noticed the itching again (which had persisted for almost 6 days now). So i decided to rub the cream inside my penis head thinking that would help and relieve the symptoms. But the itching still persists and i thought the itching was now coming from the scabs from me rubbing the skin off of my penis because i was now applying Neosporin which helped with the symptoms. Now there are two dry patches on my penis that look like ash where the cuts were and today i tried to masturbate thinking it would help but it burned (not at ejaculation, but with the strokes nearing the head). Now (40mins after masturbation) I suffer no symptoms but im sure they will return. Could this be an STD or simply balanitis gone bad because i read some cases in which people suffered for a year before the symptoms went away. I also saw in which they went to their doctor and they prescribed an anti-biotic and I'm thinking of going to a clinic and getting an STD test because i read gonorrhea can sometimes cause itching. I'm confused and scared and havent told my boyfriend because I'm waiting until I know exactly what I have. Can Someone help? moreOpen Question: Women HELP, please! (Personal)?
Okay, so, I'm 16 and ever since the end of my period last month I noticed that my vagina was really itchy. It eventually got UNBEARABLE. I had yellow discharge that made it itch worse. I started putting anti fungal powder in my underwear and it seemed to help with the itching a lot. So it started getting better when I went on my period on Wednesday this month, but I've notice recently that it smells like fish. And I noticed a couple of bumps down there to! I don't see how it can be an STD because I'm a virgin and haven't done anything farther than a kiss (which was in the 9th grade!) What is this?! I'm getting scared! Please help!I can't talk to my mom cause I only have a dad. And I'm not telling him! Talk about awkward. moreVoting Question: Can I treat Ringworm on my back with Yeast Infection anti fungal medicine?

I had a group of small, red, itchy bumps on my forearm. They turned into what looks like ringworm ,and I have been putting anti fungal cream on it, but it's not helping much. Then, I got more bumps on my knuckle, and then more on my elbow, and then on the other elbow. They really itch and the ones on my elbow are starting to hurt pretty bad. I think it might be pityriasis rosea, but the pictures online look a lot more severe than what I have. Please help. moreResolved Question: what is the white hairlike stringy stuff in my fish tank?
i have a 5 gallon tank with 2 fish in it. One glofish and one raphael catfish. Every things been normal until i noticed my Glofish's fins began to look ragged and split. So i realized that as fin rot. I've added fungus cure to the tank and now im noticing small white hairlike strings floating on my plants (fake) and hanging off of my catfish's body. I want to know what this little stringy stuff is and if it is harmful or a result from the anti-fungal medication that was added to the tank. Before the medicine was added i tested my water for the NH3 and NH4+ levels and it came up as fine and i change the water regularly and the filters been running fine but since the medicines been added i have removed the carbon cartridge so it does not filter out the medication. Could this also be a result from the filter cartridge being removed? please help! moreResolved Question: If you find a skin infection producing blue pus, what cause whould you suspect?
That's just my case, and because it is in my groin, I'm having a hard time convincing physicians that it is not a fungi (the blue pus - and the fact that NO anti fungal medication did heal the lesions - makes me think it's bacterial). Can it be Pseudomonas aureoginosa? moreResolved Question: Rash on my son's bum - not nappy rash?
My son has a rash on his bum that has been there for a week or so now. (Before anyone starts hating, we DO have a doctors appointment that we have to wait 9 days for. Just moved to a new town with appalling health care, apparently!!) At first I thought it was nappy rash, so applied Bepanthen and also my chemists own nappy rash, which all other times, fixed it up really quickly. All this did was dry it out, but then it would flare up all red again. I asked my chemist and he recommended an anti fungal/barrier cream, which I have been applying 5 times a day for a few days now, with no sign of it getting any better. It is red and he says it is sore, and hates getting cream on it. He is 21 months, and toilet trained during the day. Thanks moreResolved Question: I have had ringworm for over a year and the doctor can't, help can you ?
I have tried all the anti fungal creams and pills no joy. I have tried lime, mustard seeds, tee tree and Lavender oil, I have tried clear nail varnish and remover. I am now considering using bleach, If you have tried it did it work and did it damage your skin worse than the ring worm? I realised I am in the wrong category but nobody seems to be answering in skin conditions section and I know there are a lot of people in P&S. moreVoting Question: I am 16 weeks pregnant with a itchy rash.?
I am 16 weeks pregnant with a rash.It was little non colored bumps (now red) under my breasts that only itched if scratched. I went to my Dr. and its not scabies or pupps it has spread to my back, hips and behind my knees, they told me to use hydrocortizone which worsened the rash and made it itch like crazy now the bumps are red and itchy. So I called the dr and stopped the cortizone and started a anti fungal cream clotrimazole, its not helping with the itch and its still spreading...what to do? moreResolved Question: Anal itching? What does it sound like?
About six months AGO my anus began itching then it spread to the crack and the genital area. I also started to workout during this time. I first thought it was jock itch because of the working out so I started applying anti-fungal cream daily. The itching stopped in the genital area and seemed to stop in the anal area too. However when I stopped using the cream it began again. I thought it was pinworm so I took pinworm medicine, two bottles, and took the both 1 week from the other. Well I got into a serious car accident shortly after and I had to have surgery where the ssurgeonopened me up to do exploratory surgery. When I got out of the hospital 1 week later I had no symptoms of anal itching. I assumed that maybe the antibiotics they had me on in the hospital cleared whatever it was out of me. However, approximately 3 months after leaving the hospital I am starting to have a little bit of an itching feeling in my anal area and genital area. Can anyone tell me what this seems cconsistentwith? Pinworm, ggonorrhea HPV? moreResolved Question: i think my black moor has some sort of fungal disease?
My black moor's keep getting a white looking patches on them which starts on the base of the top fin then gets bigger and spreads down the body sides if left untreated. i have 180 litre tank with 3 black moor's two large and one small. i change the filters once every month along with 1/3 water change plus clean out. i treat the clean water. i do a 20% water change about every two weeks but since this has occured i have been doing it once a week. i also check the water levels of PH, ammonia, nitrite & nitrate and all seem to be fine. i have taken the carbon filter out and have treated with (interpet anti fungus and finrot) which seems to clear it up. adout a week or two later it comes back? 1 - i would like to find out what it is 2- what is causing it please can you offer some advisethanks very much for your replies. To Respond to to you SQRQH, the patchs are fuzzy when they start is just looks like the way the light catches them but clearly not as it develops. I dont believe its a colour change as the scales start to come away if left untreated. i have a fluvel 205 media filter in place which came with the tank. i dont use those test stripes ive got one of those glass test tube test kits. i have got a heater that was supplied with it, what temp should i set it to as at the mo the water temp sits at about 18-20 c depending on the weather and the house dropping in temp. i might give the aquarium salt a try thats sounds like a good idea and place to start. i take i can pick this up at any local aquatics.Tammy - i have had these fish for two years now and they do seem to get along with each other. it only seems to be the two larger moors that get this and not the smaller one. with the filter i dont clean that when doing small water changes i leave that alone only when i change the filters at the end of the month. i wouldnt like to change it every 6 weeks as this will be to long as when i change it on the month end you can clearly see that it needs changing. i think i will try to clean out like you say maybe twice a week for a month and see how that goes. Once again thanks for your continuing help moreVoting Question: What can I soak my feet in to get rid of fungus?

Fur chewing and Fighting other chinchillas has been ruled out. His mother lost hair when she was pregnant but then regained it. He is losing it; not completely bald but quite nearly. The hair loss began in his back/tail and is spreading. Some vets are clueless about chinchillas. A breeder suggested me to give him a dust bath mixed with anti-fungal powder; I'm doing this everyday starting yesterday. Other than this, he seems healthy and the other chinchillas in his cage are doing fine. Just wanna know if anyone has comments or advice. Thank you.Chinchillas cannot get common external parasites because their fur is too dense. Chinchillas do not shed their fur; and if they did I would've observed that by now with the many others I've owned. Thank you for your comments, I will ask the vet if ringworm is a possibility since you mentioned you had a pet with similar symptoms. moreResolved Question: could this be ringworm or something else?

Im currently 14 years old and i’m asian(Vietnamese) and i have a pale skin colour which means my skin is more sensitive and i easily receive freckles even from a little sun exposure. Most people who have the same nationality as me don’t have pale and sensitive skin and also don’t have freckles as much as I do, but i’ll get them Lazard when im a bit older. But anyways, my concern was last year when i was 13 years old i noticed white spots, the size of a pea started to appea on my legs. It is not itchy, it is not lumpy and it is not pink or red. It is just ghostly white. It only appear half of my leg which is my knee and below. As days went by, i noticed that more spots were appearing but the size of the spots didnt change. And whenever i rub the spots or press against it, it would go away but only for 3 seconds, then it would return again. And also when i lie down, and lift my legs up, they slowly fade away but when i stand up again, it comes back. My legs are a bit tanned compared to the rest of my body because i wear a skirt everyday to school. I don’t go to use fake tans or go to tanning beds or whatever you call them. But my legs are exposed to the sun more often than other parts of my body. Sometimes when I stand for a long time, my leg skin colour would appear really dark and the spots would look REALLY WHITE so it really stands out. Most of the time, i don’t feel anything from the spots but sometimes after showers or standing for a long period of time, I feel a tingling or a stinging feeling to some of the spots on my legs not all the spots, probably around 3 -4 spots. And sometimes, when im in a colder environment, the spots would appear more compared to when i am in a hot environment. I believe that this is an usual skin condition, I don’t see anyone have the same problem as me on their legs, but I do notice that older people such as grandpas and stuff, they have white or pink spots on their legs and arms and Im positive that mine is not like theirs. My spots can go away every now and them but not compeletey. While the old people’s spot just stay there. I’ve done some research and i believe that i don’t have any of these; pityriasis alba, tinea versicolor and ""VITILIGO"" My mum took me to the doctors and the doctor said it was an fungal infection and she prescribed me with an anti fungal cream which is used for athelete's foot, tinea and canadian. I used it for about one month but i saw no results and the spots just kept appearing. So my mum took me to another doctor and she said that she didn't really know what it was and she is sure that it is not a fungal infection because if it is then the spots would rise, the spots that are on my legs are flat. The doctor said it could be something with the blood flow or the pigmentation and she also mentioned something about my veins are too close to my skin, and it’s true, my skin is pale and I can see my veins quite clearly. My mum took me to another doctor to see which previous doctor was correct, but this doctor said it is just my skin colour and there is nothing he can do. All three doctors are saying different things and i dont know who to believe, i dont want to go to a specialist because i'll have to give him money even if he can't treat it, but if must and i know that it can be treated, then i will. I've also got this dizzy problem, every time i wake up after sleeping and i get up, i become really dizzy and for a few seconds I blank out, i dont see anything so i have to close my eyes for a few seconds and when i open my eyes, it's normal. This happens to me when i sit down and then get up again, or when im sitting for a long time. I dont know if this problem is related to the blood flow and the issue with the spots but I had a blood test, and the doctors said everything was normal, which surprised my mum. My mum thought i didn’t have enough blood. But please help me, and if i really do need to go to the specialist then tell me, because right now i don’t know what to do and i dont want to keep wearing jeans and stockings all the time to hide the spots. Any comments and help are all appreciated. In advance, thank you so much for your time! moreResolved Question: 2 of my fish are dying?

They are in cycled ten gallon heated tanks with lots of plants and a weekly 1/4 water change...I get the things, they do absolutely great for one week, then develop fungus and very promptly die. They do not respond to medication...(Jungle's anti-fungal med...also have tried the malachite green and an antibiotic...one of the last two really hurt the plants, but they recovered.) How do I keep the bettas from getting fungus in the first place? WTF?Lindsay, you might just have something there about turning off the tank light...I usually keep the tank light on all day and turn it off at night. I'm going to give that a try. Im currently 14 years old now, but last year when i was 13 years old i noticed that white spots, the size of a pea started to appear. It only showed half of my leg which is my knee and below. At the back of my leg, the spots appear the most and there is alot, like the spots are right next to each other but on the front and the side of my legs, the spots are more further apart and there isnt as many spots on the front of my leg than it is on the back of my legs. As days went past, i noticed that more spots were appearing but the size didnt change. And whenever i rub the spots or press against it, it would go away but only for 3 seconds, then it would return again. And also when i lie down, and lift my legs up, they slowly fade away but when i stand up again, it comes back. I really dont undertsnad what it is, and i dont know how i got it. My mum decided to take me to a doctor and the doctor said it was an fungal infection and she prescribed me with an anti fungal cream which is used for athelete's foot, tinea and canadian. I've got two little African Dwarf Frogs in a 5 gallon tank. One is doing great to this day A few days after I brought them home I notices a furry white fungus like growth on it's left hind foot All of my water levels test just fine and I do water changes like with my other tanks. I've been treating the water with anti fungal and bacterial medication for a week now. I fallowed all the directions, removed the carbon elements and added the proper dosage, but it seems to just get worse and he doesn't even use the entire leg now. I think it might have gotten broken when the guy at the pet store netted him. I don't know what to do for the poor little guy, he's now just staying at the surface of the water. I don't care about getting my money back I care about the animal. Should I keep trying to treat him or should I humanly euthanize him, and how? Please help :( I don't want the frog to suffer anymore. I know he's in pain. moreResolved Question: Yeast infections, advice needed?
I started taking antibiotic doxycycline (200mg/day) on Monday. It is now Sunday. On Wednesday I developed cracks on the sides of my mouth, and later yellow blisters. I'm still fighting off small bumps with anti-fungal mouthsore cream and tea tree oil. It was a combination of thrush and chelitis, I believe. On Friday, my vagina was itchy and irritated, so I just ignored it. Later that night, I tried ACV rinse that I read really helped. Bad idea- the next day the infection was so bad I could hardly walk, my labia minora really swollen up. I purchased a cream and three pessasaries that I started using last night. I still have quite a bit of itching and my labia/clitoris area is still very swollen. However, I noticed that the discharge is coming out a bit more easily now. I'm also applying a little tea tree oil to that. Because of these fungal infections, likely caused by my antibiotic (I've never had either and got both 3 days after I started taking them. Antibiotics also rid the body of 'good' bacteria.), I have gone off my antibiotic Friday night. It's now Sunday morning. When will I be back to my normal self, and when will the good bacteria be able to start fighting off the bad? I feel it is VERY difficult to get rid of these fungal infections, and can't keep wearing loose-fitting clothes (I have to go to work tomorrow). Also, advice on your experience and the healing of vaginal thrush would be appreciated so I know what to expect.
