Anti Virus Downloads Questions asked

Open Question: Critical Virus, Can't Remove.?

Hi, my sister got a virus that blocks internet access, infects programs, word documents not working, a blue screen appears every time it starts. This all started when a program called Malware Doctor or something download all of the sudden. I don't know how it downloaded, but it is there so please help. When Malware Doctor disappeared, it got even worse. And she also got a crappy anti virus (some old norton) that's the only thing she got. The anti virus detected 15 trojans or so... One of them called Trojan.ad clicker wasn't able to be deleted. The anti virus didn't know its placement so... Is it anything i can do? Im not able to update to a better anti virus, since it is blocking the internet. Is there anything i can do? I though of transferring a better anti virus with a memory stick, but i think that's impossible. The program antivirus solution Pro also downloaded itself. It's a fake/false anti virus. Is it possible that it downloaded it itself or was it her fault? more

Open Question: Virus Scan Help!! Easy!!?

So, it is not really a virus problem. It a problem with running two anti- virus systems at once. So, I have McAfee, which I got for free because my dad's work gives it for free to employee's, but I just also downloaded Microsoft essentials anti-virus, which I hear is pretty good, and it is free. So my question is, would it reduce my computers performance if I ran both at the same time, i don't mean running their virus scans at the same time, i am just keep them running, they will have scheduled scans, but on different days, but will it still degrade performance if I just run the programs at "idle basically"? Oh yes: here is my computer specs. Windows 7 x64 bit 3.33 ghz core 2 duo e6600 4 gb ddr2 1066 mhz 32 mb cache 750 gb Seagate caviar green HDD nvidia gts 250 gpu Thanks! more

Open Question: My computer says TCP/IP is not enabled for this conection.?

Aright here i go!! My computer was infected with a virus(rogue anti-spyware program). I followed some instructions on how to remove the virus, by downloading rkill.com and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. I had to do this is safe mode with networking. The malwarebytes picked up 10 trj viruses and removed them. But I can not get on the net. If i got to enternet options-connection-lan settings and uncheck the use the proxy setting for you lan box, it will them let me use the net. But using it this way when i try to update my antivirus engine it say can not connect to server. I have tried to repair the connection but it says "unable to repair TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection".I am just trying to do some research and fixing it myself. I appreciate all the help you can give me thanks. Let me know if you need any more information. Thanks more

Open Question: Avast! Free Antivirus Question?

I just downloaded Avast! Free and apparently it expires in thirty days. Is this normal because every other free anti-virus that I had ever downloaded never had an expiration date of when my protection would end. What is the issue? Is this a way for them to get you to download the actual product? Will my protection shut off after thirty days? I am sorry if this is a stupid question, but I never had this problem before.I do not think so because the link I downloaded it from was CNet and it was labeled as Free only. Not Trial Version.Okay, but do I have to pay to register it? If so, then I cannot afford it. more

Open Question: Could you guys suggest me the best free anti virus software out there?

Hi. So I bought Kaspersky along with my laptop, but it expired after a year. To be honest, I pretty much can't afford to renew it every year. Anyway, I asked around and my friends suggested I download AVG Internet Security, which I did. But it also expired within a month. Is there a good free anti virus? If there is, could you guys name it for me, please? It's just that there's this one virus that's bugging me. It won't let me launch my task manager. Please help me, thanks. more

i got a new laptop with windows 7, i installed my antivirus (kaspersky) and then went to install my firewall (i downloaded zone alarm free firewall from zone alarm's website), and while it was installing kaspersky recognized zone alarm as having potential keylogger activty (pdm.keylogger in kernal mode memory patch)... i did some reseach and found other people get the same thing coming up and not to worry about it, but those people are usually getting this message when playing an online game...why would kaspersky give this notice with zone alarm? more

Open Question: Internet Explorer/Router setting problem? Virus destroyed internet connection, help?

I know computer pretty well, I know my way around the wireless network I've set up throughout my house, I've worked with my ISP to fix problems in the past with my router, and everything seemed fine. One day, about three weeks ago, I received a virus on my computer upstairs. It was a particularity vicious virus, and had changed some registry keys to take over my firewall settings and prompt me that every program I opened was infected; and of course it asked me to scan. It would open internet explorer pop-ups to it's site every now and then. So, I fixed the registry key, ran Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, and removed the virus. That's where my trouble started. I opened Firefox, my normal browser, and saw that it wasn't working. it took me ten to fifteen minutes, but finally I noticed something had switched on proxy settings. I removed the proxy, and went on my way. Firefox was, and still is working totally fine. Internet Explorer however, is where I'm stuck. I've reset all settings, ran diagnostics, and it keeps saying it's a problem with my HTTP and HTTPS ports. I've tried to fix that, I've reset my router and checked the other computers in the house: they work fine. Normally I'd be okay with this, but none of my other internet browsing programs work either! All my games that require updates have stopped working. A down-loadable game .exe won't load the page, iTunes won't take me to the store, and finally, the icing on the proverbial cake, Starcraft 2 won't download. They all say I need to be connected to the internet, when I clearly am by Wireless network and LAN wire. Help? more

Open Question: Viruses on my computer just went away...please read.?

So earlier today I had a ton of viruses on my computer for some reason. I hadn't even been doing anything the night before. Just updating my iTunes library and downloading music onto it. It wouldn't let me access anything and it finally let me go to firefox and download an anti-virus scan called AVG. And its scanning my computer right now but so far it hasn't pulled up any of the viruses and I have another virus scan that worked after I downloaded AVG and that said "attention needed" so after I hit that and let it scan it didn't find anything either. Should I just wait and see if the other virus scan picks up anything? I'm kind of worried that the virus is trying to trick me and hack out all my files while I think my computer is fine. This has never happend to me before. Never gotten a virus on this computer. Also I have Windows Vista if that helps with anything. more

Open Question: My computer has a virus, how can I get rid of it?

False anti-virus software alerts pop up every few seconds and sometimes viagra.com and pornographic websites will pop up. I can't open iTunes or anything I've ever downloaded on my computer. I can't even open the task manager. However, all of my Internet browsers work fine. I'm using Mozilla Firefox currently. Whenever I try downloading something, an error occurs about half way through. I think one of them is called BankerFox.A or something like that. more

Open Question: can i get free malware/spyware?

I just recently found out that the reason I'm not able to navigate or go online with my laptop computer is because I have a bunch of crapware on it, somehow the anti-virus program got deleted and I can't go online to download a new program straight to the laptop so is there any way that I can get a free download of a good anti-malware/antispyware program on my home desktop and maybe save it to a disk and then download it to the laptop? I'm a full time student with no prospects of having any money anytime soon ( sept 14) or I would just buy software anybody have any ideas? All great tips thank you much appreciated, but the computer CAN NOT GO ONLINE!! Open Question: AHHHHHHHHHHH VIRUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

I'm sooo annoyed. It's like 02:40 and i'm so tired but i can't ever go to sleep until i finish what i start. So i have viruses on my computer and idk how to get rid of them. I downloaded SUPER Anti Spyware because i got this virus "My Security Shield" and i want rid of it and i heard that SUPER Anti Spyware was good. So it's downloaded and everything and when i do scans it says i have about 2353 threats (i know a lot) so then i clicked the button to delete them or whatever and it resets my computer but then when it reboots the virus ("My Security Shield") is still there and it pops up telling me my computers at risk and all that shlt, so i do the scan again to see how many viruses i still have on it and it's the same amount, 2353. So why is there still the same amount of viruses when i click the thing to get rid of them? And how do i get rid of the viruses (especially the "my security shield"? I don't want to download any other things, i want to keep using SUPER Anti Spyware so don't bother telling me about other anti virus things.I don't use anything like Limewire. I don't know why i have so many viruses cuz i hardly download anything and i only go on safe sites. more

Open Question: How should I get rid of this virus?

So i have received a virus on my other computer. I'm sure that it is a virus because it refuses to allow my computer to start up in any other way besides safe mode with networking. So i have downloaded three anti-virus softwares and all have said to locate the virus but none have been successful in the removal. The three softwares are Avira, Malwarebytes, and Superantispyware i have run full system checks but none have been successful. What else can i do? This virus doesn't even allow me to perform full system recovery. more

Open Question: Internet connection problem?

Hello, recently, I've been unable to connection to web pages through Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. Which is quite odd since I have a very stable and strong wireless network connection and I never have problems with it. My computer says I'm connected to the Internet, even though I wasn't able to go on the internet without getting "Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error." I was able to get onto the Internet on Firefox by changing my proxy setting from "Use system proxy setting" to "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network", worked like a charm. I'm also unable to connect to servers/update servers on various launchers for certain MMORPG games. My father was able to connect to the internet on his laptop quite fine, and didn't have any problems. I've tried disabling my Firewall and Anti-virus (COMODO) while trying to run Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and my MMORPG games, but it didn't see to help, neither did running them as Administrator on this Vista I'm using. Extra: I also recently deleted a Trojan off my computer and this program called "Antivir Pro", which automatically downloaded itself onto my computer and claimed it found stealthy viruses and Trojans, and I knew it was a fake, deleted it with Malware Byte's Anti-Malware. more

Open Question: Will this get rid of all my viruses?

I had this thing "my security shield" on my tool bar saying i had about 20 viruses but that was a virus (i think) so i've downloaded (the free) SUPER Anti Spyware and Malwarebytes. I've heard they're good so will they get rid of all my viruses (like "my security shield")? I've been doing a scan on both of them for viruses for about 5/10 minutes. The Malwarebytes one has found 181 viruses so far and the SUPER Anti Spyware one has found 1538 threats. That sounds really, really bad, is it? I never thought it would be that many cuz i've only had this laptop for about 4 months and i'm always really carful about the sites i go on, so do i only have that many cuz of that "My Security Shield" virus thing? And how long will it take to get rid of all of them?Actually the SUPER Anti Spyware thing finished scanning after 27 mins and found around 2388 threats and the Malwarebytes one has been scanning for 16 mins and has found over 1000.I meant 26 not 16 mins.Ok, i deleted the malware thing so i'm using SUPER Anti Spyware thing but i still don't know how to get rid of the "My Security Shield" virus. more

Open Question: How to uninstall software (Without using the Programs and Features)?

Hey guys, I recently accidentally downloaded some 'anti-virus' software, that is extremely annoying, and won't let me access hardly any of my programs on my computer. I tried uninstalling it using Programs and Features, but it said something like, "Having trouble uninstalling 'phony anti-virus name here', it may have already been uninstalled. Would you like to remove this program from the programs and features list?' So I accidentally hit yes, and now it's not on that list. I can't close out of it without getting a blue screen, the only thing it lets me open is internet explorer (Can't open Google Chrome, my default browser), and it's a real pain in the neck.
