I recently had a virus in my computer. I brought it to PC World to get my computer fixed. Resolved Question: My computer freezes on start up as soon as I click something? PLEASE HELP! I will give best answer?

Okay so my computer freezes as soon as it starts up. It loads everything and as soon as I click ANYTHING it freezes. I thought it was just loading but no, it actually freezes. I'm trying to find the source of the reason but here's what's happened so far: -My brother spilled some water on the monitor, not the computer. This caused the monitor's volume up button to break. -.- -I thought I could try to fix the monitor by restarting the computer (stupid, I know) so the problem is, when I start up my computer so many things have to load because I have this HP printer and every time it's low on ink, I get this pop up when my computer starts that tells me it's low on ink. I also have this pop up that tells me my Avast is obsolete and I need to get a new one. Both of these pop ups just annoy me so much so I decided to try and get rid of the Avast pop up problem by getting Avast free anti virus (my mom won't buy the proper protection, so I have to get it free this time :/). And this is personally where I think something went wrong, I downloaded the free Avast and while I was downloading it, I uninstalled some useless programs on my computer because I thought it would free up space. I only uninstalled 3 things, 2 from HP and were for photo editing which I didn't need. When I installed the Avast anit virus, it was recommended that I restarted my computer. I wanted to wait for the HP things I was uninstalling to finish first. Once they uninstalled, I restarted the computer and then the freezing thing started. The Avast anti virus program said that I should have restarted the system or there could be a system failure and I did restart but I'm thinking that a system failure could have happened anyways? I want to uninstall the free Avast because I think that may be the problem but how can I uninstall it if my computer freezes? I heard of something called safe mode, if I go in safe mode, would I be able to uninstall the free Avast? THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU sooo much for you help! I PROMISE that I will give best answer and go on my other 2 accounts to give your answer thumbs up along with this account's thumbs up so you will earn 13 points!!! Please help me? Resolved Question: How to get rid of B.exe trojan?

Hi, recently my Comodo Firewall protection detected a process called b.exe and moved it into the sandbox, I had no idea what it was so I left comodo to deal with it in the sandbox. That was a few weeks ago. A few days ago the same b.exe tried to start up again and again comodo moved it to the sandbox, but now it will keep bringing up the same thing every hour or so so as in b.exe will try to start and comodo will try to move it to the sandbox. Only for the same process to repeat again. I did a search for b.exe on google and read up on it being a trojan that plays random sounds at random times, and attacks your anti malware software. I have not had anything that extreme yet but am extremely concerned that it may start to get that bad and the constant pop up from comodo is annoying in itself when browsing the web. I have searched for it in pretty much every file on my laptop but it is either really well hidden or called something else. It does not show up in my process list on task manager so I am confused at where the hell it keeps coming from! I have tried doing a scan with super anti spyware which does not find anything.A real time and boot time scan with my avast free edition anti virus software turned up nothing. Malwarebytes scan also turned up nothing. I have looked all over the internet for a way to remove this annoying trojan but there are so many different tools recommended to download and use that I do not know which to trust and which to not. Is there a way to remove this without downloading yet more anti spyware and malware protection? and if not which ones will actually get rid of b.exe and not just clutter up my system. Thanks in advance more

Resolved Question: How do I get rid of cpes_clean_launcher.exe?

I'm going to update and do a full scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and do a boot-time scan with Avast! I'm also going to update Java because I read in some forums to update Java Also, I recently uninstalled ZoneAlarm Free and installed Comodo Internet Security (without Comodo antivirus because I have Avast!) If somebody could please help that would be super awesome! Should I use the Avira Rescue CD? Also, a little while ago I did a boot-time scan with Avast, and it found some kind of Java exploit in a system backup (but not in my real system.) Is it possible that I have a patching virus or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and whichever answer gets rid of the infection will get 5* from me! more

Resolved Question: A virus with pop-ups and minimizing abilities just won't go away!?

Needless to say, i have a virus that is causing me great frustration and anguish. It will minimize my activities and pop-ups will appear throughout the day. I have used Spy-bot Search and Destroy, AVG, Malware Bytes, Trojan Remover, and the Windows removal tool while in safe mode, but to no avail. I'm really stuck at this point and if any help can be provided, I'd be greatly appreciative! The virus also has a tendency to reduce my Mp3/Wave sound setting. The pop-ups are advertisements for games and cars. Also, the pop-ups still appear even after a restart. Here is a list of items that open during start up: -ehtray -jusched -ctsysvol -ctdvddet -cthelper -updreg -vVX3000 -isuspm -issch -nwiz -NvMcTray -NvCpl -avgtray -msnmsgr -msmsgs -Skype -TeaTimer -Pandora Sorry for the rather lengthy list, didn't realize i had so many items at start up. ***Uninstall avg then restart into safe mode with networking go download avast free anti virus, install it and update it and go to scan, in the scan sub tab go to boot time scan and have it do one on start up. then update malwarebytes and spybot and run malwarebytes scan. follow what it says, may need to restart. if it does restart, avast will do its boot time scan. then it will restart. when its done restarting youll be in normal mode. run spybot and do what it says, weather it finds something or not, re run avast. this will take an hour or so but it will fix the problem. rouge software is a huge pain in the *** but this is the only way unless you want to follow some complected manual guide online or unless you want to wipe the hard drive or do a restore which i dont recommend obviously lol*** I ran a boot scan and followed all the instructions, but still no luck. Any other suggestions? I can also hear the virus attempting to open pages in Internet Explorer by the clicking noise it makes.Dreadnaught, please read all of what i said lol. I followed ALL of your instructions. more

Resolved Question: My computer has AV security suite, more info..? (10 points.)?

(I'm on a laptop.) How do I get rid of this for good, for free.? I had it before, and I got rid of it. Now, its back. Does this virus also do permanet damages to your computer even after you remove it.? My computer also has: Avast, Safe Returner, Malwarebytes Anti Malware, that rkill thing, and for some reason, mcafee secuirty. ._.Yes, I know not to look at suspicous emails, go to bad websites, that antimalwarebytes can remove/delete av secuirty suite from my computer, the virus is on the computer, NOT the laptop, I'm USING the laptop, I believe the virus re infected my computer through a legit program, because I believe Av secuirty suite can do that, I know it's trying to steal stuff from me, and this virus is SERIOUSLY fustrating me. more

Voting Question: Should I really be paranoid about computer security?

I'm paranoid at the best of times, lately even more so. I've just recently bought a 1TB HDD for my computer to go with my 500GB one, I reformatted both when I installed it. I started installing all my programs, starting with my anti-virus program, Avast! Free edition. Upon installing mIRC avast detected an infection known as "mirc-z.exe", I googled this and there's mixed feelings about it, false positive or not, I reformatted, again. (Another question on the side, how effective are these anti-virus programs at removing virus'? I've always thought, if you get one, you need to reformat to remove all traces of it). After the format was complete, I decided to try AVG Free, installed everything again, except mIRC. This time, when installing Borderlands on Steam, AVG detected a "Vundo" virus, upon googling it appears that it's something to do with a recent Bordelands update which has incorporated Securom into the software, or so I read. Being the paranoid git I am, I reformatted again and here I am. What I want to know is, how easy is it to get viruses/malware/spyware etc? And in leymans terms, what can each one do? Should I really be worrying about someone getting access to all my online accounts, including my online banking? I also purchased Avast Internet Security, always liked Avast so I thought it was a good idea. I can see how paranoia could be beneficial in keeping myself safe online, but this is becoming ridiculous, can someone put me at ease please? more

Resolved Question: Anyone know an actually free and at the same time effective anti-virus system?

All I found on the net was people saying "avast! is the best!". But when I installed avast! my download speed went down by two third(from 30 KB/s to 10KB/s) and my online gaming ping shot up by 5 times, making it impossible to play any online games. But when I disabled avast!, my download speed was back to normal and my online gaming was as smooth as ever. Then I checked and rechecked to make sure it avast! causing the problem. Don't tell me avast! is good, avast! sucks! And don't tell me about your 'good experiences' with avast!, cause I don't give a F%%k. Is there anything out there that is free but still effective? Is there even such a thing as a free anti-virus that doesn't mess up your connection? more

Voting Question: Do I have a virus?!!! (PLEASE HELP)?

The other day, when I woke up, I turned on my computer (TOSHIBA laptop/ Windows 7), which I have had for not quite half a year (I am the only one that uses this computer) , and I was experiencing 3 major problems. They were: 1) Running very slowly all of a sudden 2)The screen resolution changed to its worst setting (which normally happens if I am playing a game or something, but goes back to normal when I close the game) 3)On a TON of places I'd go on the internet it would go off to a page that said "Oops! This page is broken" and it would be on websites like Yahoo! Answers and places it shouldn't do that I flushed my DNS and fixed the 3rd one. Also, I went to screen resolution and manually changed the resoution back to normal (which I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have to do), solving the 2nd problem. I have tried Avast! Anti-virus (free version) and the trial version of AVG. Neither of them found anything. I also tried a system cleaning and registry cleaner and defraging. Nothing is working. What should I do?!!!These have helped, but I am still running very slowly compared to the other day. Are there any other answers. more

Resolved Question: What is the best Anti-virus/Internet Security Suite and why?

I'm tired of switching from trial version to trial version and having to wipe cache and whatever else I need to in order to reinstall a trial version that I have used. And I've tried downloading and Googling full version keys but they all get blacklisted. I've also tried free ones like Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast, Avira and Panda Cloud but they don't seem to be doing much of anything and I rank them down there with McAfee. The only free one that seems to do well is AVG Free but I don't get a Firewall, Linkscanner or Phishing protection, and it also doesn't scan for Rootkits so I don't like using it. Can you tell me what's the best one to get, since I have to go out and finally buy something? Thanks. more

Voting Question: My laptop was infected with virus etc. Cleaned it. Not working perfectly now. Now I want to install Windows 7?

My laptop computer was infected with virus, trojan, etc. Then I installed Avast Free anti-virus. I have scanned my laptop, I have deleted the virus, trojan, etc. I put one Win32:Dialer-KT [PUP] and one Win32:RarMod [Drp] in the Avast Virus Chest. Also, after I deleted the virus, trojans, etc. I noticed my laptop computer is not actually working perfectly. For example, the Dell Wireless tray applet is always having a red cross on it, saying Connection Status: Unknown. No such interface supported. But my internet connection is still working fine. (At the moment, I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. I am trying to install Windows 7 Professional now.) I will try to do a Clean Install for my Windows 7 Professional, I hope once I installed Windows 7 Professional, the problems, such as with the Dell wireless tray applet will not be there. I am going to do a Clean Install, but I will probably not format my hard drive, am I correct? What will happen to the 2 items inside my Avast Virus Chest when I install Windows 7 Professional? (Can I keep them in the Avast Virus Chest while installing Windows 7?) I use Windows Easy Transfer to help me, it will save my files and settings into one large file. Problem is that I am trying to use my ipod classic to store that large file, which is like 67GB. Although my ipod classic has 68.8GB of free space. Later, I checked that my ipod classic actually uses FAT32 file system, does that mean I cannot store that large file worth 67GB into my ipod classic? I think FAT32 has a file size limit of 4GB. How can I solve this problem? I have not got an external hard drive. My laptop's C: drive read 257 GB free of 359 GB. (I have heard of partition, but I don't know how to do it, I don't know how safe it is and how reliable it is) Please let me know. Thank you for your help.I have scanned many times with Avast, it is not finding any more virus, trojans etc. But still, it is not working perfectly as described above. The 2 drives that I have for my laptop are: OS(C:) 257 GB free of 359 GB RECOVERY(D:) 4.78 GB free of 9.99 GB more

Resolved Question: ATT.net Toolbar ate the CA Yahoo! Anti-Spy button!?

I just got an email this morning from att.net suggesting that I upgrade my Yahoo! Toolbar to the ATT.net Toolbar. I just did so; however, the app button for CA Yahoo! Anti-Spy seems to have disappeared. ATT.net now appears to be promoting its "Internet Security powered by McAfee;" however, that costs an extra $5.00/month, whereas CA Yahoo! Anti-Spy was free. Since I already have another anti-virus program installed on this computer (Avast Home 4.8), I don't want to spend extra for att.net Internet Security. How do I get my CA Yahoo! Anti-Spy app button back? more
