Christian Bumper Stickers Questions asked

Open Question: Why do some atheists make atheism a lifestyle?

...As in creating atheistic blogs, sticking atheistic bumper stickers on their cars, hosting atheistic radio shows, atheistic lectures/conventions, etc... I find this a little hypocritical because the main point of being atheist, IMO, is to not waste time with religion/spirituality and living a religion-free life. Some spend their lives debating with Christians rather than living a religion-free life like they intended to by becoming atheistAnother good example for an atheistic lifestyle is Anna Atheist. Devoting a Yahoo! profile to something you don't believe in. Ridiculous!!! more

Resolved Question: Christians; Why do you say that Jesus was a Sabbath breaker?

When Yeshua said "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love." Isn't the sabbath one of the Fathers commandments?Averell - Have you ever stopped to meditate on just what that means? Yeshua Messiah is Lord of the Sabbath?Paulcyp - And what you seem to overlook is that they knew they didn't have a leg to stand on because otherwise they could have found two witnesses at his trial very easily. Next myth please.Skunkster - Yep.. What they fail to realize is that by saying the Yeshua was a sabbath breaker and encouraged others to do the same and that the sabbath day was to be laid aside they are denying that he is the Messiah because the Messaih had to fulfill the Law. Their doctrine is so full of holes they couldn't carry water from one sink to the next in a two sink kitchen. more

Open Question: Bumper sticker conflict? Tolerance and Anti-Christian.?

Why would a person put a tolerance sticker on the left side of their bumper and an anti-Christian sticker on the right (one claiming Christians are anti-science? I saw that on a car. I wish I could have taken a picture but I was driving at the time. Is this someone's version of tolerance? To everyone but Christians or is letting Christians live enough toleration but they should still be made to shut up.If I called any other group but Christians anti-science or in other words stupid, I would be called intolerant and prejudiced. But somehow if it is anti-Christian, it can somehow be called "tolerant" and justified. I have known several Christian doctors and scientists who know and respect science more than most who aren't Christian. And I have known many anti-Christian liberals who degrade science they don't agree with or don't like and who promote junk science. The hypocrisy oozes from every pore doesn't it? I have found most Christians are pro-science and some non-Christians are anti-science so the claim that Christians are anti-science is a lie and prejudicial. In fact in my case it was science that led me to God and I use science to show people there is a God, though not to many because few people understand science well enough and I don't expect them to. Most people do not need to know much science to serve society to the best of their ability. more

Resolved Question: What do you think of this bumper sticker?

It reads, "If you opposed warfare as much as welfare you could be a real Christian." I think it makes a great point. The Bible says "thou shalt not kill." Not thou shalt not kill unless your government tells you too. Also, Jesus instructed his followers to love one another and take care of each other. more

Resolved Question: Paul Kevin Curtis just got let go. Do you think he really mailed those letters?

On one hand, he's a Democrat, has some mental instability, and subscribes to several conspiracy theories, so it might make sense for him to target a Republican senator. On the other hand, he was released from jail fairly quickly, so the FBI must not think he really did it, plus he's a Democrat, so it's unlikely that'd he try to kill Obama, although still possible. According to the FBI, they think he was framed, which is why they're letting him go and investigating further in hopes of finding another suspect. Do you think he did it? If so, why? If not, why not? Resolved Question: Why are churches allowed to put up obnoxious signs about Christianity..?

But if an American mosque or synagogue used signs like that promoting their respective religions outside their buildings it would be thought uncivilised? But these churches put these ridiculous signs outside trying to say their religion is completely factual, often insulting atheists/non-Christians. Shouldn't this be inside the church and not on these supermarket signs shoving religion down people's throat? I feel the same way about "In God we Trust" on US currency, "One Nation Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, and political restrictions (e.g. gay marriage, abortion) based on politicians' religions? Resolved Question: Hawaiian Good Luck Symbol (Rate 1 to 10)?

Grandma driver Grandma is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car. She writes: Dear Grand-daughter, The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a 'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker. I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting. So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed. I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed. It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed. I found that lot of people love Jesus! While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of God!' 'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!' What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus! Everyone started honking! I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love! There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach. I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant. He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something. Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back. My grandson burst out laughing. Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!! A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection. I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared. So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!! Will write again soon, Love, Grandma more

Resolved Question: What do you think of my religion report? OPINIONS NEEDED!!!?

Starbucks coffee is originally an American coffee shop that has expanded to Canada. People of all religions and beliefs eat here including Buddhists, Muslims, Deists, Atheists and most of all: Catholics....well that was until the famous coffee shop announced they support gay rights. I found this article on Facebook, actually. One of my Catholic facebook friends said he would no longer be going to Starbucks because they support gay rights. He then posted a link to a petition getting starbucks to "unsupport" gay rights with an article explaining the case. I knew right then and there that this would be a perfect article to use as I went to Starbucks for my first time today and kind of enjoyed it. Catholics have created a website called "DumpStarbucks" to try and get people to not attend this cafe until they "unsupport" LGBTQ rights. The first thing that the websites article has claimed (This is taken right from the article) is that "Starbucks has deeply offended at least half of its customers and the vast majority of its international customers" Starbucks says that gay people should be equal to Heterosexual people and that supporting gay rights is concure to who they are as a company. The article then says "In many areas of the world where Starbucks does business, the concept of 'gay marriage' is unheard of and deeply offensive to cultural, moral and religious values." The countries where Starbucks is most popular are: America, Canada, Austrailia and England. Then the article says "In taking these actions, Starbucks has declared a culture war on all people of faith" The website this article comes off of has made a petition for people whom are against gay rights to sign. They also have made flyers and bumper stickers for people to buy saying "Dump Starbucks." Before I give my opinion on this article I'd like to state some facts about some of the claimsthese Christians have made which are wrong. The first one is that "Starbucks has offended most of its customers." I Googled this and it turns out 640 000 of Starbucks' customers hadno problem with them supporting gay rights and the only ones who did have an issue were the 22 000 who signed this. This means that most people didn't have a problem and only 34% of people were offended and that's not the "vast majority." Another thing they say is "In many countries that have Starbucks, gay rights are unheard of. Actually, gay rights have been heard ofpractically everywhere. And the four Countries where Starbucks is most popular (Austrailia, Canada, England and America) have quite different opinions on gay marriage then this article claims. Statistics have shown that most Americans support gay marriage, Gay marriage in Canada is legal, gay marriage in Austrailia is illegal however they are currently being encouragedto making it legal, and in England it's also illegal however they're considering changing that law. This article makes me angry, actually. I'm a straight girl but I know gay people who are very kind and good people and don't deserve this treatement. Society is trying to improve itself in this modern day world and humans are finally looking at issues of social justice, human rights, sexism, racism etc. And people like this who are creating petitions for supporting gay rights and threatening not to attend this cafe are making society take a step back in improvement. Telling a corporation what to do and how the people who work in it how to think is petty and veryimmature. Do they actually think Starbucks is going to listen to 22 000 people out of its millionsof customers? The Christians who made this website have too much time on their hands and need to worry about themselves and not what other people do. Telling gays not to marry is taking away human right #1, #7, #16 and #30. Which are "Everyone is equal" (#1), Everyoneis equal before the law" (#7), '"Everyone has a right to marry" (#16) and most important "No one can take away your human rights." (#30).Christians have a right to not support Gay marriage if they wish, they have a right to their ownopinion too. However, they have no right to tell people how to live and whom to marry, they have no right to tell Starbucks how to think, they have no right to create bumper stickers and flyers telling people to dislike Starbucks for supporting basic human rights to the LGBTQ community. I understand that with the new age, Christians are getting offended about how thelaws aren't going with their religious laws and they're worried for where this world may be going for them however this behaviour in unacceptable and childish.See my problem is I'm afraid of offending my teacher. And I'm no where near finished yet, I still have to go back in and change the wording and syntax.@Loki I'm not asking you to help me with my homework. I just want to know if I'm ranting too much. more

Resolved Question: Religion with children? What is your opinion?

My mom's side is extreme Christian, and my dad's side is extreme catholic. My boyfriend's family are all really Christian as well. But, my boyfriend is atheist, and I am atheist agnostic (meaning I lean more toward it being unlikely, but I don't rule anything out since I have no proof that either are true). My son is two, and we decided that we are going to raise him never knowing what religion is. We are not raising him to not believe in god, but we are not raising him to believe in him or any other religions. When he is older and shows that he is mature and smart enough to deal with things like that on his own (so when he is probably 10-13 depending on how he is) we are going to teach him all about ALL religions, and about other places beliefs (like all the Egyptian and Greek gods) and let him decide in what ever he believes. I only wish my parents were like that with me. I had a VERY difficult time growing up. I've known I was bisexual and different since I was in kindergarden but I always thought it was normal. One of my friends told her mom, and her mom told my parents. My parents flipped on me and I lied about it. My parents told me it was a good thing I wasn't, because if I was, I deserved to be lying in a ditch dead.... So, now I have lied about every aspect of my life to my parents and they will never know the real me. I never want my son to grow up thinking all these different things that people with religion are against are wrong.. What is your opinion? Also to add, my mom is an extreme schizophrenic, and has manic depression which also adds to me having to lie about who I am. more

Resolved Question: Question about a bumper sticker I saw today.?

Clearly some Christian: it says "God controls everything." Yet when something bad happens, all the Christians say "it wasn't god" or "The devil did it" or some other ridiculous excuse (like for 9/11 for example). Either he controls everthign or he doesn't. Which is it? What does this bumper sticker mean? Please answer sans any "bible scripture" - in your own words.Ralph's "answer" down there is quite possibly teh stupidest response I've ever seen in this section. He alone just converted six Christians to atheism with that idiotic response. Are there any actual educated Christians in this group? Honestly? more

Resolved Question: Now that the Government has put pro lifers on its terrorist list does that mean all Christians are terrorists?

As a Catholic I find that to be very offensive! The Department of Justice funded a training manual used in the State and Local Anti-terrorism Training (SLATT) program for law enforcement. Apparently certain political bumper stickers can put you on the “could be a terrorist” list, including opposition to the United Nations and support for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Under the category of “Special-Interest/Single Issue Terrorism,” the slide characterizes people who hold political opinions that “represent a fairly popular point of view” as terrorists. Anti-abortion activists are also listed as terrorists under this category. Read more: http://freedomoutpost.com/2012/09/doj-your-bumper-sticker-may-indicate-youre-a-terrorist/#ixzz2IWucCWzy more

Resolved Question: Is the Christian Bible failing at teaching civilized behavior?

I live in So Cal's bible belt: the Inland Empire. It's the same region Shock of God runs around on his motorcycle asking atheists questions on video and then promptly blocking them when they attempt to answer. He's a decent guy. (ahem) Onward... Everywhere around here are NOTW stickers (on very expensive cars), tattoos of Christian motiffs, people say "Bless you" all over the place and I count "Put the Christ back in Christmas!" stickers every year. In 2008, there was a very high percentage of Vote Yes on Prop 8 signs everywhere (the anti-gay marriage proposition). I once saw someone with large white stickers across their entire back trunk lid declaring Jesus died for my sins(!!!). It wasn't a bumper sticker, they were letters made into a message. Letter messages and back window messages about Jesus are quite common. But man, are people rude. They're slow. They make trash. They have too many babies (out of wedlock and then get them baptized!). They run around on their cell phones while driving, while walking in public areas clogging up foot traffic. They're loud. They get incensed when anyone dares politely ask them to please keep it down. They enter freeway traffic at very slow speeds (in modern vehicles). They hog passing lanes and won't let you pass (sometimes on purpose). They cheat at school (I work at a college and have direct supervision of coursework). The region I live in is very predominantly theistic of the Christian persuasion. Their bible is failing. Right? I used to live in DC and I could go months without being reminded that Christianity existed at all. And people were rude, but more of a "I'm in a hurry" way. Here it's "I'm entitled. I'm the center of the room" rude. I've witnessed so many times in large chain stores people break things and then just sort of push it to the side and keep on shopping without saying a thing or taking it to the front... they won't be asked to pay for it, but it's the decent thing, right? But since it's more religious here and people are very into the Bible, it means they're pretty much illustrating biblical failure to teach morals (iow, ethical behavior), right?Diggity doesn't know what rhetorical or self-clarifying is.Diggity has never asked a question for clarity and ended it with "Right?"Diggity has NEVER heard of thaaaaat. So, before this devolves into an exercise of deflection, very common when some Christians are challenged. How about the substance of the question be addressed? Or shall we just leave it as "Yes, the Bible is obviously failing. I have no counter argument. At least, not a believable one."Smart people know when their question is being deflected. more

Resolved Question: What's happened to Republican Christians lately?

In the past couple months, we've seen a guy outrage people with his "legitimate rape" thing, we've seen boatloads of people defend him for it, we've seen people calling for having gay people put to death by the government, we've seen people advocate the killing of unruly children according to Bible standards, and the latest thing seems to be saying, "Wait a sec, what was REALLY so bad about slavery?" Even as early as a YEAR ago, if you said anything remotely like that out loud and anyone heard you at all, you'd be drawn and quartered. But NOW, people aren't just saying them, they're making them part of their political platforms AND people are cheering them on! And most recently all those churches that all banded together to defy the separation of church and state by having "pulpit freedom Sunday" whereby they videotaped their hate filled sermons AND SENT THEM DIRECTLY TO THE IRS, thereby putting their tax-free status in jeopardy. Total, blatant nose-thumbing at the lawmakers. It should be professional suicide to do any of these things and people are being downright loud about it. What's going on? And yeah, I can provide links to all these things, give me a few minutes.Links:1) Legitimate rape - do I need to bother? It was front page news practically everywhere.2) Gays being put to death by the government - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/31/curtis-knapp-kansas-pastor-death-of-gays-defense-cnn_n_1559293.html3) Killing of unruly children - http://blogs.babycenter.com/mom_stories/10092012politician-proposes-death-penalty-for-unruly-kids/4) Slavery is OK - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/07/jon-hubbard-slavery_n_1946890.htmlThere you go, Everard.Cherry: if churches attempt to engage in any sort of political activity, they risk losing their tax-free status. And that's what is going on here, especially with churches openly promoting church members to run for public office to enforce Christian principles and morals. more

Resolved Question: My son wants me to stay away from him?

Okay, so just recently I sent my 15 year old son to a public high school by my home (this was his choice. NOT MINE) I am Christian woman and I believe in home school and teaching my son all about the Christian faith and Jesus, I was unemployed up until this September, I just got a job as a door to door priest. i drive a white minivan because thats gods color and it has bumper stickers that say ' god has blessed this van'. my son is not in to religion as much as i am. usually he just goes along with me but now he is pulling away from me. i sometimes think SATAN lives inside him am i right? more

Resolved Question: Are you surprised by this conservative bumper sticker?

A bumper sticker reading "2012 Don't Re-N.i.g." has become popular in some parts of the south. Even the closet racists realize it's not okay to openly make racist comments. Instead, it gets hidden in oblique language, false controversies and putative "jokes." For example, Randy Newman just released "I'm Dreaming of a White President" One in four Americans thinks there's some mystery over the president's birthplace, while Mitt Romney (son of a man born in Mexico) and John McCain (born in the Panama Canal Zone) face no such scrutiny. Tea partiers denounce health-care reform as "reparations." Rep. Lynn Westmoreland calls Obama "uppity," then-Rep. Geoff Davis calls him "boy" and Rep. Joe Wilson yells out, "You lie!" during a presidential speech. Rush Limbaugh says Obama's election means it's open season on white kids. Obama is called a terrorist, a "food stamp president" and a "Chicago thug." These people are not fooling anybody. This is textbook racism - they just won't admit it. more

Resolved Question: Can a christian who has studied the bible and christianity answer this?

First I would like to say that I realize that this was made to mock Christians but I think these are legitimate questions. Why do most Christians and other religious people only follow their religious texts only half way. The Bible names many sins but they only acknowledge a few. One big thing I notice is condemning gays but then going out and having sex before marriage, getting piss drunk, doing drugs, etc. This is just one of the things that has turned me away from Christianity. I am not trying to give anyone a hard time. I myself am trying to find god again. I am going to put the text below.Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination... End of debate.I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them.1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem isWell, the thing didn't paste all the way, but I think you get my point. And to the woman below, I obviously do not want to sell anyone in to slavery. Stop being so obtuse. more

Resolved Question: Why is it a double standard when it comes to muslims?

Anti-muslum film sparks violence, They prove the stereotypes in the film by killing the U.S ambassador and two other troops that had nothing to do with the film. While they tear the American flag and setting it on fire in the response video(all of this done on the same day as 9/11) and sending it to the government gets a shocking response saying "If they do it again we will cut off their monthly 1.3 billion financial aid" My personal response? We have nukes for a reason. Nothing makes me more warm, Cozy and fuzzy inside knowing that my hard earned taxes are being spent towards the enemy. They don't even try to look for a job! They spend full-time diedication to complain and srtike about free money. If we keep kissing their asses there will be more to come. We have enough problems with our debt to fix, We don't have time to hold their hands and help their sorry excuse for a country. The dog has bitten the hand that fed it. The only thing you can do is put it down. This makes me so angry! Why do we help such animals. They kill at will. They will never respect any of us and yet our government throws our hard earned money at them. Iran, Iraq, Saudi or whomever. There can never be peace when the dog is just waiting to bite/kill. We are at war and all they want us to do is apologize? You wanna play hard ball? I'm game. I am all for tolerance, but do something like this on September 11th, of all days, and you wonder why we hate you. So ridiculous. We create a satire and an entire nation wants to kill people. That says way more about the Muslim religion. Why do you think people create these movies or have these thoughts on your religion? Because all you do is kill people, how can anyone take anything you say seriously? I can can totally imagine your reaction when you saw the video "Hey look, someone is saying we are a violent culture.""Really? That makes me so mad. Let's go kill some people!" I don't think that the movie was the main factor. I think 9/11 and the killing of Bin Laden had a lot to do with it as well. The movie "may have caused inflamed mobs that attacked U.S. missions in Egypt and Libya." I am a Catholic and, if a muslim made a movie mocking Jesus Christ, I would not physically attack and kill the person who did it, or attack and kill some person from a muslim country. The movie did not cause inflamed mobs. The mobs CHOSE to get inflamed, and chose to kill. Censoring anything insulting to Islam here in america is a disgrace..You have atheists with anti religion bumper stickers, and poking fun at Jesus, you have Christian groups poking fun at Mormons or Catholics etc etc.. Bill maher is brutal with religion..If bill maher's religulous was about Islam what do you think would happen??? We need to embrace our freedoms, and our free speech...leave this guy alone and stop trying to censor Americans...if i want to draw a pic of Mohammad in caricature and show it in public then i will.....The ONLY reason why the government wants to censor things like that is because they know Muslims are violent and un predictable..They just won't admit it publicly. The religion of death murders Americans on the anniversary of 9/11 because they hate America...period...it had nothing to do with a low budget movie…WAKE UP. Stop trying to play the innocent factor and take responsibility for your actions/killings because America isn't always going to hold your hand and help you when the rest of us get some common sense. No more aid for Libya or any other country that does this type of crap. I don't care who in the country does it, period. Maybe then you could get the apathetic members of their society off their butts and deal with the citizens causing the problems. NO MORE AID!!!!!! Tell me why again my tax money keeps going to these Anti- American muslim countries? This was tragic and avoidable. We should have known better than to trust anyone from that part of the world to be our friend. A totally corrupt society that needs to be left completely alone to include any U.S. aid in any form. Get out and write off that part of the world. Nothing at all to do with them. Oh and Thank you for your work Mr. Stevens. Rest In Peace... more
