Open Question: Computer won't read CD! please help!?

I am supposed to review my speech from speech class. She video tapes all of our speeches, and said that her recorder was already set up for our computers(class has all the same comp) but it doesnt read it. Here is what I do MY COMPUTER>DRIVE (E:)> I then have three folders to choose from DCIM, VIDEO_RM,VIDEO_TS DCIM is empty VIDEO_RM has three files VIDEO_TS has five files If I click on one of the files it loads on Windows Media Player, but it says it has an extension that Wind. Media Player does not recognize, do you want WMP to play, I choose yes. Then another warning comes up that says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." It will not work, can someone please help me! I know that my CD/DVD drive works I have watched many burnt CDs/DVDs, and regular ones also. Thank for any info! more

I want to get Windows 7 Home Premium for the brand new computer that I'm building from scratch. All the parts are brand new, never used. So I'd say that I really am a "System Builder". I'd read a few reviews however, that some people had trouble installing Windows 7 OEM version. That it would keep looking for some DVD driver when they already had one. I am been looking for a good capture card to record some clips of Halo 3. 'Pinnacle Systems - Dazzle DVD Recorder' is the one I am considering buying at the moment but i've seen some bad reviews about it. People have said things like 'it freezes your computer up' or 'you have to restart the recording over and over'. So i'm a little hesitant about buying it. I would like to hear some other opinions about the Dazzle DVD Recorder. Or if you have another suggestion for a capture card i would be happy to hear it. more

I just purchased a SAMSUNG LN32B530 32" 1080p 60HZ LCD HDTV. Am very pleased with the picture, this is a replacement for an LG that had so many things wrong with it, thanks goodness I had a warranty. Anyway, need to purchase an HDMI cable for this unit, many on amazon with great reviews are related to cables with 120HZ instead of the 60 that my TV has. Would this make a difference? I have a 2006 Kia Sedona minivan with a factory CD player. I am wanting to get a aftermarket CD/MP3/DVD/GPS system. I have found several systems on cruthfield, but the reviews are mixed. I don't really care for the Pioneer systems. I do like some of the Clarions, but I am not sure about any others. I am looking for a good quality unit around $600. I really don't care if it has a DVD player, but most of the GPS units also include the DVD players. I am planning on adding the DVD system later on when my 5 month old starts watching tv. I was thinking about just having the rear dvd entertainment system when that happens. Also, I do not want to have to put a CD in to use the GPS. Voting Question: Western Digital Hard drive not working with PS3 correctly. Audio and Video out of sync.?

I have a 3rd gen PS3. It is one of the 40gb versions. 40 gb is not enough, i knew that before buying it. That is why I ordered a 640gb Western Digital Scorpio Blue drive to install as an upgrade. I read reviews before buying to make sure it would fit and work well with my PS3. I received the HDD, installed it into the PS3, installed my backup off of my 40gb drive... and fired it up. At first everything went well... I put a bunch of movies, music, etc onto it. Then just last night I was playing my brand new copy of Uncharted 2... and noticed that during the video sequences that the audio was significantly behind the video. It was not happening while watching movies on the Blu-ray or DVD... only during the game. So, I tried my other newly purchased game, LittleBig Planet. This time, during gameplay the audio would skip as if I were listening to a scratched CD. I called Sony. They said they didnt know what the problem is, and will have to get my unit replaced. Before I send it to Sony, I wanted to test a few things. I put my old 40gb hard drive back in... and just like magic... all the games played just as they should. I put the 640gb hard drive in and then reformatted it. I then set it back up. Tried to play the games again... and it is doing the same thing. So, I have determined that it is the new hard drive. I called WD for support, they said that the drive comes in NTFS, and will be needed to be formatted to FAT 32... and then should work just fine. I somehow doubt that as I know the PS3 will format my drive once I install it... but, i will do as the CS rep asked me to do and try this method. Does anyone have any suggestions or idea what is causing this or could fix it? Thanks!I reformated my drive to Fat32... Put it in the PS3... And started up the game. And yup, the sound is still off. Looks like I bought a 100$ drive for nothing. I'm just going to put it in a portable enclosure and connect it via USB. I will just have to live with 40 gb directly in my PS3. more

Resolved Question: How well does "Flirty Girl Fitness" work? Is there a scam alert I should beware of?

I was interested in ordering the "Flirty Girl Fitness" DVD's and pole for a fitness exercise. And just to be on the safe side, I was looking at reviews for the flirty girl fitness, to see what others thought of the product. Of course everything has good reviews and bad reviews, but for this specific product, I was very unsure. There were reviews saying it was great. And then there were reviews saying the DVDs won't teach you anything and that the fitness instructors on there weren't any good. But, we all have different opinions. What made me rethink this was the fact that there were a ton of reviews saying things about the company, and how they are getting ripped off, and charged monthly, or their order isn't coming in, even after months. Apparently they send new things monthly (not notified) and just automatically charge you for it. And that's not something I would want to deal with. Some were saying they were (without their consent) signed up for some "continuity" program. And being that it's a pretty pricey workout, I don't want to order it and have wasted money on some sort of scam. Is "Flirty Girl Fitness" something shouldn't waste my money on (because of scams)? My real question is, has anyone ordered it and had this problem, or even no problems at all? I am greatly appreciated for a helpful answer. (: more

Resolved Question: Onkyo HTIB vs. pieced together system?

OK, so after a lot of time reviewing things and taking a lot of Excedrin from the headaches that ensued I think that I have narrowed it down to what I will get. Please let me know your opinions and what you think. Below are the 2 set-ups that I am deciding between: Onkyo HT-S6200 HTIB 7.1ch($550) or Receiver: Denon AVR-1610($380) 5.1ch Speakers: Klipsch Quintet III($249) Sub: Polk Audio PSW110 200w Sub($130-$250 depending on sales) Either of these systems would have a PS3 going into it for gaming/Blu-Ray/DVD. Using a Samsung LN52a550 for a TV. I understand that I could go to the Klipsch Quintet IV's, but for the +$300 price tag did not see the point since the Quintet III's spec out to almost the same with the only difference being the horn on the speakers. I did have a lot of trouble deciding on the receiver... I finally settled on the Denon AVR1610. Couldn't really find anything against it. I did consider other Denon, Onkyo, and the Yamaha 465, 565, 665, and 765 series. The 1610 just seemed to be the right one. As far as the sub goes I know I could go more expensive, just didn't see the point. Any suggestions that anyone has would be helpful. Or, if you think I'm close to a good setup please let me know. more

i want a dvd authoring program that isnt full of junk and is only good because it looks cool. im tired of dealing with all these programs that have such dumb issues like non-customizable menus, compatibility issues, not being able to directly burn the file to a dvd, etc etc. I do not care about the user interface or the cost of the program. I am just tired of the bull crap put out on the internet, and all the fake [paid] reviews. The program needs to also be able to convert most video formats. Hopefully, OGG and MKV formats as well. please do not answer and say something like "well lol zomg i dont know what to tell you" or any other answer that is a waste of my time and does not answer my question, or ill report you as spam. by the way, TMPGEnc doesnt work on my PC for some reason. AND I DO NOT WANT A PROGRAM THAT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO USE. Voting Question: Is the dvd quality of Halloween II good? Please help!?

I was wondering how the dvd quality of Halloween II is for those who bought it on dvd. Now, I recently bought it on dvd but haven't opened it, LOL, so I'm curious. In some reviews I've read for the dvd version, people have said that the film looked grainy on purpose since it was filmed in 16mm unlike the first remake. I also own the remake of the first one (director's cut too) and I remember the film looking good and colorful the first and only time I've seen it so far, but I'm gonna watch that again. So, is the dvd version's quality as good as the first remake in terms of sharpness, detail, color, grain amount? Please help me cause it would suck if the film was more blurry, grainy than the first one, LOL. Of course, I'm talking about the dvd not the bluray. Just please answer if you own the dvd version, thanks!What I mean is, is the dvd almost as good as the bluray. Resolved Question: Blu Ray player question?

Hi, I'm looking to buy a new blu Ray player - I am looking for one that has the similar features that the Sony dvd players have - memory - so when you put in a disk, take it out, put in another, then put the original disk in it picks up where you left off. Does anyone know of any blu ray players that have this feature. I have looked on the blu ray player descriptions online and cannot find this anywhere. I read some reviews of Sony players and from what I can gather, their blu ray player does not have this. Also, the buffoons at Best buy and Frys have no idea so "asking the sales associate" is not an "answer." So does anyone have a current blu ray player that has this feature that you can recommend? I'm not looking for guesses or suggestions here, I'm just looking for people who already have this feature in their current blu ray player that you can recommend. Voting Question: My burner can burn at 8x...why will it not burn faster than 2x?

First of all my burner is an LG SLIM PORTABLE DVD BURNER. Model number GP08LU10. The DVDs that I have work just fine with this burner and always have in the past. I'm using SONY DVD-R 120MIN/4.7GV (the yellow package at most stores). In the past I have had absolutely no problems, I've always been able to burn DVDs with this burner and they burn at 8x speed. Suddenly, I am still able to actually burn my DVDs, however, my burner is only burning at 2x speed and there is no place that says that it can burn faster. I use NERO 7 or NERO 9 to "Burn Video Files." When I go into this program I have tried a couple of things. First I tried doing it just as normal. Select the folder I wanted to burn (containing .vob and .bup files) click next until I get to the "Burn" button and then click it and it would go as normal and burn at 8x speed, within 10 mins or less. However, this is no longer happening, I tried everything as normal and suddenly NERO starts to burn at just 2x speed and does not have any options to select further. Basically it is telling me that my burner only burns 2x and no faster, even though I know it does. This is for both of the versions of NERO that I have tried. I tried going into the advanced burn settings and still...no selection for 8x or even 4x, just 2x. Second, I tried ConvertXtoDVD 3.3.4.106e. I use this program to convert any and all video files that I have to DVD form so I can burn them. From time to time NERO has acted up (of course) so I would use ConvertXtoDVD because it has a feature to burn any previously converted project (which just so happens to be all the folders with the .vob and .bup files). Before in the past, ConvertXtoDVD would have a drop down box after selecting to burn a project and I would be able to select 2x, 4x, 8x, or it even had a MAX option. Now, when I go to the same spot it only has 2x in the drop down. The others have disappeared. Again, if I try using this program I can STILL burn the DVDs it just burns at 2x instead of a much faster speed. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all these programs (ConvertXtoDVD and NERO 7 & 9) but still the same options are available, only 2x, no 4x or 8x options. I also rebooted my computer, unplugged the USB for the dvd burner and plugged it back in, but still the same problem is occuring. Does anybody have any idea what to do? I've tried doing a Google or Yahoo search but I guess I cannot seem to get the wording right to do a correct search. If you have any suggestions, or ideas, please explain to me as well as you can how to do it. I'm on a first name basis with computers, but we're still not made it to the "lovers" step yet. I can do a lot of things, but not too many expert troubleshoots. Thank you in advance for ALL of your help, everybody! I greatly appreciate anybody and everybody taking the time to help me out. With these files in particular (.vob and .bup) I have burned in the past at 8x speed, with the same DVDs I'm using now. Whenever I would burn mp3 or anything else I would be able to burn at 16x or so. So, while I appreciate your response, it is still invalid. Hopefully these two extra comments help anybody help me come up with a better solution. more

Resolved Question: Why should I keep windows 7 ultimate installed? I hate it!?

Bewarned this is more of a rant then a question. Read at own boredom risk! Im getting tired of this, I see all these good reviews on windows 7 and this is the second time I have installed it. First time I thought maybe i was just Bias against it. and i never took a second take. This time I did and with all my stuff. Keep in mind im an xp fanatic and I have never had any problems with xp. Whats the point in 7? for games? music? Videos? Xp can do all those things as well. And it can do all of them faster. I see some benchmarks that say xp is faster, others say 7 is faster. Well I saw for myself and xp is faster. This ofcourse is on a fresh install. Now i realize that not only is 7 not better then xp. It has more problems then id like to mess around with. First of all, All i need is to be able to play my music files, Download turrents, watch videos and play PC games. My hardware is pretty good so I can play most of the newest and highest demanding games out there. And I can do all of this on xp. So why should I stick with 7? Because its convenient? HA! I spent an hour trying to get my wireless router trying to work. For some reason windows couldnt install the belkin wireless card properly until I forced it to by going into control panel. Also my C&C Zero hour game is also not full screen like it was in xp. I have a monitor that can support 1366 - 768 in both xp and 7. But in 7 not only are all the icons much bigger at the same resolution but the game Isnt full screen its centered. The ONLY plus side I see on 7 is that it can read all 4 gigs of ram. Ive got my own software as far as dvd burning, Mounting, p2p software, etc. IS 7 supposedly good because you dont have to download this stuff? OH and not to mention it takes up almost 10 gig. I mean I know its on my side for only having a 40gig harddrive but come on. What the hell could possibly be on 7 that takes up that much freakin space. Xp only takes up 2-3? I can also customize xp better, such as the darkmatter theme(google it, Its alsome) Sorry for the rant there. Im just pretty pissed off. I just want to know why every likes 7 so much. I would like to keep 7 but im not waiting for all these supposed microsoft add ons that are gonna start making it much more better and popular. I got 5 months until I go into the service and im not messing with this damn OS if its no better then xpAnd to think Im already frustrated the first day. I cant imagin If i had all of my games installed, who knows what problems Ill run intofirst off the harddrive is fine. its small but fine. I have a 8200 nividia geforce chipset, amd athlon x2 6000+ and corsair 800mhz duel channel 4 gig memory. i just didnt feel like buying a harddrive. Harddrive is FINE! and yes it may be because im alittle resistant to change, but why change if not nesary.and no it is not user error, dont insult me. I bought the director's cut on dvd a few nights ago, but I'm wondering something. I read some reviews for the dvd and when the reviewers talked about the video quality, they said there there is "alot of grain" and that the movie was filmed on 16mm film unlike the first remake. Now, I've watched the first remake before (since I own the DC of that) and the quality looked good on our standard tv. There were some pictures from the dvd in one review for H2 that looked like a large amount of grain, which sorta confuses me. So, is the dvd quality good compared to the bluray (that was 25 bucks but I didn't wanna buy that due to lack of both versions of the film). Anyway, is the quality good enough for dvd for those who bought that? Thanks.By the way, I'm aware that this is the 4th question I've asked about this movie, LOL. I just wanna know if the picture quality looks good on a standard/sony 32 inch tv.Yeah, I know that the bluray looks better. Voting Question: What's a good internal memory camcorder for around $300?

I have been reading reviews on just about every camcorder on the market and cannot find one that doesn't just sit in the middle of the fence. Two models that I have seriously considered are: Samsung SMX-C14RN/XAA and Sony DCR-DVD650 From what I'm reading, it sounds like internal memory is the way to go and not direct to DVD. Do any of you own either of these models and could you give me a small review of it? The features most important to me are: -picture clarity -ease of transferring from camera to computer to DVD -button location/ease of use Size and weight doesn't really matter; I'd just like a decent camera with the right software to upload and make DVDs with. I think every person adores at least one movie that wasn´t a box office hit, didn´t get good reviews, nor any award. A flop, that nevertheless is not an obscure production from Iran or Corea, and it´s not from 50 years ago. I mean, it´s a flick you find on DVD or you can watch on cable tv. My own: - Bad Lieutenant: I heard there´s a remake with Nicholas Cage. But I refer to the one by Abel Ferrara, with Harvey Keytel. Very dark, opressive, heavy... and it´s great. Things to do in Denver when you´re dead: Andy Garcia, Chris Walken and other good actors in a tragic gangster movie. Poetic, philosophical, great dialogues. True Romance: I guess that this one is not such a failure, it´s written by Tarantino after all. But in my country, Brasil, few people have seen it. The plot and dialogues have Tarantino at his best. Killing Zoe: Another police flick that is dark, tragic, lots of drugs. Eric Stoltz is a member of a crew that tries to rob a bank in Paris. After Hours: One of the least known from Scorcese, but one of the best. Forgive the mistakes, english is not my mother tongueHarold and Maude is probably the best romance movie I´ve ever seen.
