Hello my names nick My friend downloaded a tool called microsoft security essentails off the microsoft site that went fine then he wanted to test it by makeing a virus called Virus:DOS/EICAR_Test_File then it said you have a virus Remove Quarentine allow then he clicked quarentine and then he started playing with it he went to the Start button then searched what he saved the fake virus as then he click on it and it said this file has been moved and will not work correctly then he went to Open with and pushed open with Limewire and thats when ALLL my applications changed to Open with limewire and then EVERYTHING changed to open with limewire can you please help me out im am running windows 7 premium 32 bit more

I have downloaded FREE version of Comodo Internet Security 4. In order to make sure that is working, I test it with a dummy virus(this file actually is a dummy virus which simulates like a virus which is provided by EICAR for distribution as the “EICAR Standard Anti-Virus Test File) #1 Open Notepad and paste this string into it ( without double quotes ) “X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H* ” #2 Save it and as soon as you do your antivirus real time protection should be able to detect it. In case you have disabled the real time protection run a scan for this file. I saved the file, but Comondo could not identify it till i opened the file(the file that contains virus). So, I turn the computer on and i log in (Like into my user account) and some security things pop up on my desktop. Its a Vista Internet Security- Unregistered Version. It says "Current PC state: INFECTED!" I have 21 "infections". Some include EA GAMES, Dell Support Center, Creative Live Cam, and Cyber Link Power DVD DX. Oh, and now theres another pop-up that says: Critical System Alert! Unknown software is trying to take control over your system! Details: Attack from: 59.64.27.21 port: 9536 Attacked port: 1 Threat: Email-Worm.JS.Gigger Do you want to block this attack? [Yes] [No] I just clicked no. Hey, look. Another pop-up. ALERT! Resolved Question: Rising free antivirus fails to detect EICAR. Why and how is this possible?

I used to have avast free antivirus but due to their recent botched update which messed up my computer, i then decided to use rising free antivirus at http://www.freerav.com Rising looks very good. It has beautiful display, with lot of colors and shine. A fancy menu and design too. But when i tested the EICAR file, surprisingly it did not do anything. There was no reaction whatsoever from rising. I checked to see if its real time protection is on and it was. A friend of mine uses the pay version of rising antivirus and in the pay version EICAR file is detected. But the real-time version did not. This is the only free AV which doesn't detect EICAR in real time. But it has virus bulletin and checkmark seal. How come? more

All right, I know what this is for, but no matter what I do, even deleting it more than 50 times a day, it doesn't ever get out of my system. Plus, it ALWAYS arrives at a fixed time, around 7-8 P.M. and then after a few hours.. poof.. it vanishes on its own. Not to mention that it really bugs me that it writes random characters every time it appears (to be exact EVERY MINUTE). And it regenerates, don't know how, but I've done every obvious things like deleting all affected files at once using Search and the likes. But no go.. I a;ready asked a techie and all he said that I have to do is what I mentioned above... so any suggestions. (While I'm typing this it already appeared several times interrupting me..) more
