Film Set Questions asked
Open Question: may be a old post but the great one! the most electrifying man in sports entertainment set to return or not?
The following is an excerpt from an article from The Toronto Sun: Don't look for The Rock in a WWE ring any time soon. But you can catch him, as Dwayne Johnson, on the big screen, starring in Tooth Fairy, which opens in theatres next Friday. "The plan was for me to be the (Monday Night RAW) host (Jan. 11)," says Johnson. "But then I had to go to Mexico (to promote the movie). The idea of me going back to WWE is intriguing and exciting. I grew up in the business. "Will I go back? Absolutely. The goal is to go back and do something special. I talked to Vince (McMahon) a couple of months ago and we're trying to come up with something. "After I wrap (filming of action movie) Faster, maybe in the summer I can go back." http://www.torontosun.com/sports/othersports/2010/01/16/12490086-sun.html moreOpen Question: Which horror film is this?
A group of friends go and camp out on this temple, but they are intercepted by the keepers of the temple and warned not to go up into it, but they don't listen and I think one of them gets shot. They run up the temple and set their camp up while the tribes people surround the temple to make sure they don't leave. The friends start to realise that the plants on the temple are infecting them and trying to kill them. One guy gets his leg skinned, and another chick claws herself to death. In the end, one chick escapes in a jeep, but is then taken over and killed by the plant. It ends with her eye in the lense and you can see the plant in the corner of her eye. moreOpen Question: What is this book called see inside for description?
We read it in high school sophomore year (I live in California, the Bay Area) And I just cannot remember the name. It was also made into a film. It is about a biologist / scientist who is hired by the government to go to this remote place and study the wolf population there. It's set not too long ago, but in the book it was talking about how people were afraid of wolves and demonizing them as these horrific monsters that would constantly kill caribou and were basically murderers. So the government sent this scientist out to go study them and bring back evidence of their violent behavior. I think he's sent to Alaska, or at least somewhere remote where the wolves are. He gets flown there by a bush pilot. He didn't have many provisions to take, but there was this alcohol that he snuck on the plane (even though the pilot told him not to take anything he absolutely would not need). So he studies the wolves, and he ends up loving them and caring for them. He even names them and whatnot. Later he finds out that the wolves are an essential part of nature because they eat the sick/unhealthy caribou (the ones that can't run very fast...) and there's some other reason that the caribou are dying off - probably the hunters are killing them off and blaming the wolves for it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Please tell me the title as I want to re-read it very badly! moreOpen Question: what is the title of this schizophrenia movie?
i am looking for title of the following film, seen it before. set in a mansion, though derelict. father had financial problems, government relations? the main character being a schizophrenic son. father left son (who was on successful meds) and sick wife back home whilst on a trip. he organised a nurse to attend to wife, though son (who thought he was much better and decided no longer to take meds) believed he could look after her and locked nurse out/refusing help. got completely out of hand, chaos. ended up stabbing mother to death- and later at her funeral, killing himself. ended with father, completely disturbed, nurse beckoning him to trust and come with her (successful). moreOpen Question: Trying to find a alien film from about maybe 10-15 years ago any ideas?

I'm sure we have all been curious, even just a little bit.... well here's what I would do (assuming my family were zombiefied..., and were elsewhere, probably chewing on my neighbours) I would get a backpack, and put some stuff in it, eg a lighter, torch, coat, etc.... then go across the road, to a farm, if the occupants were zombiefied, I would deal with them (never liked them) if not, try and break in, and steal their shotgun, and any other firearms they may have, I would take with me, from my house a metal bar of some sort, to fend of any on the way. Then, I would steal a car, a big land rover type, fill it with fuel and ammunition (it's the countryside, loads of farmers, loads of guns!) and get food, a propain stove, and sleeping bag. Then I would set off, and go somewhere where they aren't many zombies. And since civilisation would have collapsed, I would probably just keep driving, and try to et to mainland europe, via the channel tunnel (no trains!) when there, I would a. kill some zombies. and B. ensure I survive. what would you do!? moreResolved Question: what was that show that secretly filmed people singing in the car?

just copy and paste what i put on here and fill in the mistakes, please help me, my teacher is too busy and for once i want a good mark, its a film review on the movie the outsiders, based on the book The Outsider's by S.E Hinton. if you have any word sujestions please change that also, spelling punctuation ect. Thankyou SO much in advance. By Katherine ***** Film Review – The Outsiders Are you the type of person that loves old action fast pace movies? A thriller with awesome suspense and heart pumping action. The outsider’s is the film for you. As you open the book, instantly you are put into a place with no boundaries, a world Were anything can happen, Crime and Violence thrive, a world Beyond unjust, and without realising, you have entered the world of Hinton. If there was a list of the greatest authors of all time, S.E Hinton would be one of those names, forever in glory on this great list of writers. In 1983 it was made into a box office hit at the movies and will always be an all time classic. Based on the 1966 novel ‘The Outsiders’ By S.E Hinton, a brilliant movie was born. Directed superbly by Francis Coppola, Presented by Universal studios, The outsiders was brought to life by the young cast members that are now some of Hollywoods biggest stars including Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Patrick Swayze, Thomas Howell and Dianne Lane. In a divided society we look into the life of a young boy named Ponyboy Curtis and his friend Johnny Cade, they break the usual stereotype of a Greaser and enjoy the little things in life like sunsets, books and poems which is considered strange in the Greaser society. In a divided society we take a look into the lives of Ponyboy Curtis and his Friend Johnny Cade, The movie was set in 1966 in a city called Tulsa, when the 2 of them get tangled in a murder of a Soc, they catch a train and run away from the situation, but when they return different people things have got worse. After being rushed in an ambulance to the hospital; Johnny suffered a serious back injury and was later told that he would never walk again. This resulted in the Socs and the Greasers getting ready for the ultimate showdown, from here anything could happen. Right now your probably pondering “how did this mess come to be?” well you will just have to watch the movie. Seeing as this movie is old, the effects aren’t as good as now days effects, but I think they perfectly captured the era and clothes, making everything look authentic, If I could criticise one thing it would be that sometimes the scenes were quite dark, making it difficult to see what was happening at the time, but this only happened when it was at night. The music in some places was very corny, but made an impact in the violent scenes making the movie much better to watch. When I saw the actors I was happy to see them when they were so young, I feel honoured that I saw a movie that launched their careers. Although some of the small plots and details were left out, Coppola kept extremely close to the book, creating a movie that has sound effects and visual scenes that are so amazing that books simply cannot capture it. Coppola created the movie so well, for a film being shot in the 1980’s I thought it was magnificent, with a great story line and a brilliant cast, I give my thanks to Coppola. All in all the movie was excellent, its a touching film of triumph and friendship, with action and thrills along the way, i highly recomend this film to anyone who has read the book. This movie really was a masterpeice. moreOpen Question: Public School and Homeschooling, Help?
I am currently 14 and in grade 8 french immersion at my public school in Ontario, Canada. For the past few years I have been repeatedly missing school, this year it has been especially bad, as I have been missing upwards of 5 days a month (these past two months I missed a total of 20 days, 10 days each) These absences haven't really effected my grades all that much (A's and B's, nothing lower) I am passing everything, they have really only effected my participation and homework completion levels, but only by one level. So, I am passing everything between average and above average levels. The real problems are the social aspects of school as I am in no real clique or group of people, nor have I ever been, I tend to keep to myself, which usually results in me standing in the corner all alone during recess. I used to have two people that I hung out with during recess, but they both wanted to become "popular" before we go to high school and become the "nobody freshmen" The other main reason that I don't like going to school is that I find it really boring, as since around grade 1, I have been ahead of almost everyone, especially in math, which is what we spend a good portion of our day doing. This is why I went into french immersion because everyone thought it would give me somewhat of a challenge. It didn't, as I found myself mostly helping my other classmates, as I still found everything boring and too simple and had already completed everything and extra work, while no one else is done . I thought a way to solve this problem was to start missing a few days here and there, so that when I went back I would have to work harder to catch up. This didn't work either. This habit has continued on since grade 4 (when I started french immersion) and has escalated to the point where some months I am only going to school 50% of the time. Yet I still find everything too easy. So to get straight to the question now. My mom and I had a talk tonight about me missing school so often. She made a suggestion about me possibly getting school work, but then having me do it at home, so if I wanted to I could possibly do extra work in the same amount of time and then probably hand it in to my teacher (since it's in french, my mom doesn't speak french) then if there's oral projects, I could film myself and hand it in on a DVD. The only real problem in my opinion is that it is March (March break starts next week) and then school ends in June, which means there are only 3 months left. I don't know if this would necessarily be a problem, but it seems like an odd time to start being "home-schooled". This situation would only be temporary as I plan and actually look forward to starting highschool, as most of the time is spent in class and with more than one or two teachers (I am not very fond of my public school teacher, I find him fairly annoying and sets different standards for others, where he seems to somewhat "ignore my needs" by never giving me extra or more challenging work. As for music and gym, I play the drums at school and at home, so I could still play at home, need be. As for gym I am sure I can think of something to do, if need be and there is no curriculum set. I know this is long, but hopefully you read through it all to hear my actual story. I am looking forward to your answers and I will gladly answer questions, if asked. Thanks, Abi. moreOpen Question: Film idea might be award material or what?
Had developed the idea for this a few years back but got the storyline and most of the characters set up in 2004. The film is about two wolves who are former L.A. zoo residents. A year after their release they now live in a forest in Northern California. They later find out that a construction company plans to tear down the forest and use the land for real estate. With the help of their friends, neighbors and two humans, the wolves ban together to save their home. Ok, before anyone posts any it's been done and/or it sounds like Avatar replies. I'm aware of it, but it's a story idea I've had for a long time also, I'll say this there are A LOT of stories out there that are copied or based on something else but what makes it 'original' is a person's own take on the subject/story. I got to thinking with all the awards movies like Up and such have received and looking at the different award nominee lists I thought about if something of mine were to wind up on those lists. I mean it could happen. Anyone else think so? moreOpen Question: Which upcoming films do you want to see the most?
I'd have to say that I really look forward to seeing "How to Train Your Dragon" (I'm a big Dreamworks fan), "Our Family Wedding", and "Clash of the Titans". When I say upcoming, I mean movies set to be in theaters within the next week to a month. Hell, let's go with any titles while we're on the topic of future movies. Yeah, I'm on break and bored. Commence with the answering and such. moreOpen Question: Persuasive essay conclusion help?
I'm having trouble writing the conclusion for my essay my essay: To Kill a Mockingbird: Book vs. Movie One of the biggest battles between readers and movie goers is what form of a story has more artistic expression. When this concept is applied to the story of To Kill a Mockingbird, you must decide between the wonderfully acted movie directed by Robert Mulligan, with screenplay by Horton Foote, and starring Gregory Peck as Atticus; or the amazingly written book from 1960 by Harper Lee. Whichever you pick the story revolves around three children: “Jem” Finch, his sister “Scout”, their best friend “Dill”; and the community they all share. Though in more broad terms, it centers the trial of a colored man accused of raping a white woman; his lawyer, Atticus Finch; and the physical and mental destruction racism causes in a community. Although both forms convey the basic lesson to be learned in this story, the novel does a much more convincing and artistic job of getting this point across. A good starting point is talking about the overall presentation and context these two formats have set before us. A movie can give one kind of experience to the reader, but a novel is completely different in a mentally stimulating way. Screenwriters are justifiably criticized for their adaptations of books because they cannot stay true to the story, include all of the details, and comply with the imagination of the people who read the novel. Though some of the sequences in the book are not clear, they let the reader think and decide for themselves what is going on. A fantastic example of this is when Scout is trapped inside her Halloween costume during the confrontation between Jem, Boo, herself, and Mr. Ewell. The movie makes this event clearer entirely losing the effect of Scout’s confusion which adds to not only this scene, but the whole end of the story. Another subject the novel has captured far better is character development. The book takes more time showing you how the characters behave, and describing their individual attributes. This portrayal of each character adds different details to the major conflicts in the story that help with foreshadowing, setting the mood, and even presenting the main theme. This is well shown when Scout spends the afternoon with Aunt Alexandra and her missionary circle. They are talking about the Mrunas and Mrs. Merriweather says "you are a fortunate girl [Scout]. You live in a Christian home with Christian folks in a Christian town. Out there in J. Grimes Everett's land there's nothing but sin and squalor." Through the way the women are talking about the people from the African tribe you can tell the previous statement would most likely be agreed upon by the others in the room. This provides a basic incite to the racism that has become common place in Maycomb, setting a less comfortable mood that prepares you for the finding of Tom’s death. The movie forgoes this scene completely very much taking from the story, and the artistry the book provided. Many people think that the movie is more artistic because it has taken words and brought them to life; or because a movie is easier to sit through it took extra artistry to make it more pleasing to the viewer then the book, but neither of these common misconceptions is true. The book is a better form of art because it started out as nothing but blank paper, black ink, and the glorious open space of Harper Lee’s mind. The movie, on the other hand, is nothing but a re-written, dissected copy of a great artistic endeavor. Though the film version of this classic novel tries to pose the same main idea as Harper Lee infused in to the book, it misses much of the amazing small detail that makes everything artistically pleasing. The people who find the movie more artistic because it requires less effort on their part are simply mindless and lazy without the ability to let the story expand through their imagination. Many times the actors, places or extra dialogue on the screen are what the reader pictured in their mind. Can someone help me please? moreOpen Question: Is it odd i still play with dolls?
I abandoned it in highschool after year 7 because it was considered childish and i cared what people thought. Now i am 19 and i dont play with dolls in the sense of "pretend". Its actually very odd, all i do is organise them, dress them and leave it to be admired, I tried talking and comunicating through dolls about 4 years ago but it felt wierd. I have the new polly pocket dolls and I put clothes on them, set them up in a scene and leave it, then pack it away 20 minutes later when ive finished. I also adore disney cartoon movies. I am the biggest fan of disney princess and my favourite is aurora. This ontop of all cartoon or "child" films. Im not ashamed of it in any way but i s'pose im human to ask whether men or women find it strange ? Im reasonably good looking so its not like im the stereotyped girl who does none else but play on her own. I am very introverted tho. Im 13 and i am going to be buying a MacBook Pro 13" (base model) very soon. I heard that soon apple will release a new line of MacBook Pro's with new Intel "i" series processors. How long will it be until they're released? How much will the new MacBook Pro's cost? Will there be a noticable speed or HD difference? Thanks you. Note: please don't say i'm spoiled for getting a MacBook Pro at my age, because i've been saving for this for the past 2 years. So... I earned it. You might also think i dont need a Mac to do what most kids my age do (email, networking, internet homework) but, believe it or not, i will actually use this laptop for what it was made to do. I make stop motion and real time movies. I plan to be a film director in my later life. I will likely run final cut studio on it and other graphicallly intense apps.. Otherwise i would buy a cr@ppy dell or hp. And, im also set on buying the Pro cuz i absolutley hate the cheap polycarbonate casing on the new macbooks, and its worth the extra $200 to me for the nice aluminum unibody on the Pro. If i want to play games, i will use my 360... I hate PC gaming. And dont need a laptop for that moreResolved Question: quality of light setting?

Well for fun, I take this piece of wood, similar to a baseball bat but larger in circumference and longer, and place it strategically on the highway so vehicals will run over it and it goes shooting out in random directions. So yeah would I be arrested for disorderly conduct or something else? And what else could happen? moreOpen Question: A question for those in film schools?
I am in high school now, and wish to major in either Film Production or Film Studies in college (I don't want to be a director, more like a cinematographer or set designer). I have straight A's (but I am a sophomore in a private school, but this including Middle School I have gotten all A's or A-'s and my cummulative GPA as of now is a 3.97) and I have been in Girl Scouts for 10 years and will earn the top award, plus many hours of volunteer service for GS/School. I also do Cross Country and Mock Trial So, in addition to the core classes (I take Honors English, will be doing French and Math for 4 years, 3 of Science and History) I was planning on taking these electives because I thought they worked well Media I (Studying film, print, tv, radio, photography) Media II (Basically a film analysis class) Video Technology (production, storyboarding, scriptwriting, etc) I'm considering Media III as well But I wanted to ask about this class called Photography for Communicating Experiences, a summer class that goes to WA DC. Just so you know, NBC doesn't want to continue paying him as he has filmed more episodes then his contract states (also due to this, he has to be paided more). Due to this, NBC will have Peter Reckell leave the set for about a month. His final airdate of this hasn't been announced yet but HE WILL BE BACK. Anybody know about the New Doors Movie: The long awaited Dick Wolf-produced Doors documentary, When You're Strange, is set to hit theaters in April 2010. It is, as Ray Manzarek says, the true story of The Doors, told through use of new interviews and previously unreleased video footage. The film is narrated by Johnny Depp, and directed by Tom DiCello.[19] Rhino Entertainment plans to release a soundtrack to the movie in March 2010, containing both live and studio recordings.[19] The surviving members of The Doors were not not fans of the Oliver Stone movie that was released in 1991, twenty years after Morrison's death. Oliver Stone used much "creative license" in his film, with some gross factual errors. So one year shy of the 40th anniversary of Jim Morrison's death, The Doors will be opened. Taken from Wiki. So this one time a while back, i dozed off while listening to the radio. Anyways it was a classic rock station playing all of side 1 of Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" non stop. So i dozed off, but i was still hearing this music while asleep. Anyways i had the coolest dream ever, and i think it would make a good movie. So it takes place at a high school. This high school has like budget problems or something so they resort to abducting the students and removing their organs, and selling them on the black market. However, that's more of the setting, its actually the story of how these 2 students fall in love during all these events. And its a musical of sorts, naturally in the dream it was "Breakfast in America", but if it were to be a feature film, it'd probably have more songs from Supertramp mostly. So its like while the teachers are abducting and harvesting organs, life goes on and these 2 kids fall in love. So what do you think? Should i try and sell it to a company? Do you think I'm really messed up?PS. if you do like it, its my idea and i'll sue you, or egg your house or something if you steal it moreOpen Question: What was this movie called?
It came out recently, maybe two or three years ago. I've only seen the trailer and it looked amazing. I think it was about wounded soldier that goes to a hospital, and while there, begins telling a young girl the story of his fantastical adventurous life, and I think the soldier begins to fall in love with his nurse, and there are others that dissaprove of him telling the little girl these fantastical stories. As I've said, I've only seen the trailer. The costumes, scenery, sets, were amazing. It was a foriegn film, the cinemetography looked beautiful. Please help me! I've really got to buy this movie, I really want to see it, but I can't find it anywhere because I can't remember what it's called! Thanks so much!OMG, that's it! Thank you Pluto's Revenge, so much! That movie looks great! Now I've gotta go find it. Thanks again! moreOpen Question: Can anyone name this film?
A very long time ago, I remember watching this film and I can't remember what it was called! All I remember is how it ends: The protagonist kills the main villain by putting a pin in the back of his neck, that stops his blood flow. I think it was a Japanese film (and if not Japanese, it was definitely set in Japan). Please help, this has been annoying me for ages! moreOpen Question: Film idea might be award material?
Anyone else think so? moreOpen Question: Films set in victorian era?

The Dramatic purposes for this scene is... 1) To present the betrothal of Romeo and Juliet 2) Illuminate their meeting with a romantic feeling augmented by the picturesque setting 3) The reference to the messenger prepares us for Friar Laurence. Now, how were these dramatic purposes portrayed in both films? Things like set pieces, costumes, lighting, music, sound, camera angles, and blocking (as in voice emphasis, gestures, etc...) should be considered in the answer. What is the movie where the family drinks from a magic spring that prevents them from aging. It is set around the early 1900s.I believe one of their names was Tucker. moreResolved Question: Please help me find the title to this late 80's thriller/horror film?
Here's what I remember:A man(possibly a lawyer)saves a woman from being attacked/abducted, he takes her home and finds out she is being pursued by a cult(satanic I assume) He helps the woman all through the film but at the end it is revealed that the woman was a member of the cult and she was just setting up the man so that the cult could sacrifice him and in the end that's just what happens. The bad guys win. I remember seeing this on VHS when I was in high school so that puts it in the late 80's. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. moreResolved Question: Are There Any Famous Movies That Were Filmed Near Where You Live?

I'm doing my senior film and I need a few more actors as leads and also extras. Where is a good place to find willing participants? What kind of conditions do people set for acting in your movie? Do they want to be paid or do they just want exposure? I'm still not sure if people are really open to being in like a 10 minute movie without being really paid. Do I have to offer them money, or find out if they're SAG, non-SAG? Anybody help me out here? I know some people have used Craigslist, I'm just not sure if people like to act for free just for a CD of their work. Okay, so here's the deal. My dad, who is a internet marketer, made me a blog on blogger for my indie film company Mind Blown Films at www.mindblownfilms.com. What I would like to do is stop making it a blog edited with blogger and instead make it a website that I can edit with iWeb. This is especially needed since my dad said that blogger is cutting it's free services for FTP users, so unless I upgrade to the $10 dollars a year services I will have to do something. My dad is the person who set up the hosting and everything for my blog, but I hardly see him because my parents are divorced, so is there a way, I myself (who has almost no prior knowledge of web designing besides using html to embed objects) can change my blog into a website (by the way I have already bought the domain mindblownfilms.com) so I can edit it myself with iWeb.I'm not concerned about finding a hosting site my dad will pay for it, but I'm wondering how to make a website with iWeb and keep the domain I have for my blog moreResolved Question: lomography info please?

I'm just so unsure about what to do. I'm currently living at college. First thing: I'm a cinema studies major. I always thought I wanted to work on a film set or maybe be a casting director or something, but I'm not sure anymore, I don't enjoy my classes, I don't like film history or theory, and when we do group projects to make a film I am always really bored doing that. So I don't know if I should continue with this major or not? 2nd: I go home most weekends. When I'm at college I either feel very neutral, like not happy not sad, idk it's weird. I have some bad times. I never have any great times though. Whenever I go home I feel great, and I don't want to go back to college at all, I have much more hateful feelings towards college when i'm at home than when i'm there, when I'm there I just feel pretty neutral so idk what that means. So should I transfer and also should I change majors? moreVoting Question: What's the best settings to use on a film camera for landscape photography?

In the USA, I'm tired of the fake Canada exhibits like the Epcot Center in Florida where Canada looks like a medieval castle with a Mercantile store with fake-drawn totem poles and lumberjacks. This is like making a USA themepark with a picture of a Yanki Duddle riding a pony with a macaroni hat. I think I'd rather see a more educated Canada theme park with a ride/exhibit for each province. Would this be a good set-up? Quebec section- Bohemmes Carnaval and a funicular ride, a poutine stand, historical film about Jacques Cartier Ontario - CN Tower, Parliament Hill....ice skating rink machine-frozen shaped like Rideau Canal, Niagara Falls remake, Store: Tim Hortons Coffee, Jersey Milk Bars and buttertarts and maple syrup Manitoba - we would take the Golden Boy Winnipeg Statue, a modeled CN Rail car, and a square field with Yellow Poppy seeds.......a film about the Metis struggle and the Winnipeg Strike Saskatchewan - We would have a panoramic 360 film dedicated to Tommy Douglas, a film to honour the RCMP in training, a film showing Medicine Hat, Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert. Alberta - We would have a huge oil rig and a small version of Calgary's Luge....3D movie of the Canadian Rockies BC - Clearly the spirit of the 2010 Olympic games brought to life.....and displays of Vancouver artists, pictures of the beautiful ecosystem on the pacific coast Yukon - Remake of Dawson City.... you get the point..... couldn't there be a park like this to feature Canada in proper light, historically, multiculturally, scenically? all that moreTop Film Set Links
