Needless to say, i have a virus that is causing me great frustration and anguish. It will minimize my activities and pop-ups will appear throughout the day. I have used Spy-bot Search and Destroy, AVG, Malware Bytes, Trojan Remover, and the Windows removal tool while in safe mode, but to no avail. I'm really stuck at this point and if any help can be provided, I'd be greatly appreciative! The virus also has a tendency to reduce my Mp3/Wave sound setting. The pop-ups are advertisements for games and cars. Also, the pop-ups still appear even after a restart. Here is a list of items that open during start up: -ehtray -jusched -ctsysvol -ctdvddet -cthelper -updreg -vVX3000 -isuspm -issch -nwiz -NvMcTray -NvCpl -avgtray -msnmsgr -msmsgs -Skype -TeaTimer -Pandora Sorry for the rather lengthy list, didn't realize i had so many items at start up. ***Uninstall avg then restart into safe mode with networking go download avast free anti virus, install it and update it and go to scan, in the scan sub tab go to boot time scan and have it do one on start up. then update malwarebytes and spybot and run malwarebytes scan. follow what it says, may need to restart. if it does restart, avast will do its boot time scan. then it will restart. when its done restarting youll be in normal mode. run spybot and do what it says, weather it finds something or not, re run avast. this will take an hour or so but it will fix the problem. rouge software is a huge pain in the *** but this is the only way unless you want to follow some complected manual guide online or unless you want to wipe the hard drive or do a restore which i dont recommend obviously lol*** I ran a boot scan and followed all the instructions, but still no luck. Any other suggestions? I can also hear the virus attempting to open pages in Internet Explorer by the clicking noise it makes.Dreadnaught, please read all of what i said lol. There's too many contradictions on which is the best anti virus / anti spy ware, what one person says is good another says is rubbish, and obviously all the websites are going to say their product is the best. I don't really want to buy any AV because I know that some people say the free downloadable ones are better, so I don't want to waste any money, but because of all the differences in opinion I just though it would be a good idea to download a number of them and run them all, as then I can't really go wrong. So I just got a brand new computer running on Windows 7 and was in the process of surfing the web, checking my email, and looking at the new features of 7 compared to XP. So currently, my computer had little to no anti-spyware/virus programs because I just got it, and I'm going on a search engine and am in the process of typing in something when suddenly the Windows Security Center thing pops up saying 'You have 49 malicious programs ...' and all the other stuff (yes, it said 49). So then it said, 'We strongly recommend that you buy Windows Security Center to remove all malicious programs' and I went on it and tried to buy it, but my credit card wouldn't work. So then I ran a sweep with the free McAffee anti-virus program to see if that would help, but after the sweep was done, it said everything was fine (even though Windows has a pop-up coming up every ten seconds about the various viruses trying to get into my files). So then I was really confused, and went on the internet to download the AVG Free program to check and see what AVG would say, but my computer won't let me download it because when the download with finished another pop-up arrives saying something like ' x virus is trying to transfer your credit card details and other passwords to a remote server using the AVG download'. I then press 'continue unprotected' and nothing happens anyways (and I search my harddrive for AVG and nothing comes up). Then I try Spy Sweeper and ran their free sweep, and the sweep came and started, but when it ended, it just ended without saying anything. So the current situation is: I have 49 malicious programs attacking my computer, I cannot get to any anti-virus software, and my desktop picture has already dissapeared from the screen. ~I also tried running AVG from a USB key with the copied files from another computer onto that computer, but it didn't work... What should I be doing right now, and what should I do to get the viruses off my computer? Any advice and help will be greatly appreciated. more

I knew immediately that it was a virus because i remembered hearing about it awhile back. It told me my computer was infected, pretended to run a scan of my hard disk and then listed some fake viruses that it accused me of having. It then brought up a fake window that looks like the one that tells you whether you have a firewall and antivirus running. The window claimed that i was infected with spy-ware. The thing then kept trying to connect to The Internet using Internet Explorer (which isn't my default browser) and tried to get me to pay for it to remove the fake virusses from my computer. I disconnected my computer from The Internet and tried to run my real antivirus software (AVG Free 9.0, regularly updated) but the fake on wouldn't let me, i just kept getting messages saying that the registry entry for any application i tried to run was missing. The virus kept trying to get me to purchase it by telling me over and over again that i was infected and brought up the same message as soon as i would close it. After i had tried to close it many times, it started bringing up loads of Alert Icons in the toolbar, it created hundreds of them and did so so quickly i couldn't close them down fast enough. After rebooting my computer several times i had the same problems but noticed that if i opened an application as soon as the desktop appeared, the virus wouldn't stop me (if i waited a few more seconds it would do). First i tried running my antivirus and doing a scan, but the virus was creating so many taskbar icons it slowed my computer down to the point that the scan would stop. Also, the window i was running a scan in would be permanently situated behind the viruses messages. I was forced to do a system restore and this seems to have got rid of the damn thing. i was just reinfected with the same virus and system restore no longer gets rid of it It is stopping me running applications (even if i can run them i usually get runtime errors I cant update my antivirus or scan the computer, nor can i install programs Is there a solution that doesn't involve completely wiping my PC? Can't Install Anti-Virus Software? I tried installing AVG free on my friends Computer (XP). When trying to install AVG it came up with an error message something like " AVG can not detect an internet connection". When trying to access the AVG website, it does not load. I later found that other known anti-virus websites like McAfee and Norton are also not loading even though we can access the rest of the internet. Every now and then the computer will freeze and will only shut down by turning the power off. I have installed spy-bot and it has found spyware, which we fixed BUT I think there is a virus in the computer and I cant install software to remove it. I also tried to continue the installation in Safe Mode but with the same error message. I've downloaded the entire 72mb AVG file onto my USB drive along with Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware to take to his house and try on his computer. Any ideas guys? Can I hook his HD up 2 my laptop as another drive and then run a scan from my computer? Or is that not worth it? Cheers more

Resolved Question: Everytime I try to view videos/ apps powered by flash they freeze?

As of the past 48hrs I've been unable to view any youtube videos or even use Face books scrabble properly. When it comes to the youtube vids they freeze within the first few seconds or within a minute but the buffering completes all the while the circular dotted waiting graphic is displayed. After the first fail I usually can get it to play again but only up to the same exact point and then not at all. This problem has been coupled with some random system crashes I'm running Win 7 64bit and using ie 8 as a browser. I've done exhaustive scans Nod 32 (trial version)came up clean, adaware (free version) froze after 5min finding 130 items in 95943 files, Norton 17.1.0.19 found 5 low level cookies which it had no problem dealing with and after that adaware worked just fine (I think that not having deleted my temporary internet files or cookies for almost a month contributed to the amount of items found and the hanging of adaware) and found nothing. Spy doctor found a cpl of low level cookies although it will only scan and then you must buy if you want to use it to fix. Zone Alarm (free version brand spanking new for win7 64bit) is the only significant change to my system that I can think of besides the uninstalling of Comodo firewall it's predecessor. Originally the crashes were accompanied by a blue screen and my computer would restart itself and after 3 of those yesterday they changed to the old school freeze where nothing (ctrl+alt+del)short of a manual restart would do. I'm sorry to be so long winded but I'm @ my wits end and can be found burning all my media followed by backing up any important information in preparation for a clean install. Please help. There's more since the previous "report" I've downloaded and ran malwarebytes which found a trogan and a hijack but my problem still remains even after using adobes flash player uninstall and reinstalling it 3 times all @ different points but it is the last thing I've done to make headway in this problem. I'm including Malwarebytes report in case it helps. Again I appreciate any input that can help me resolve this problem. It's not so much that I can't function without youtube vids it's that my system isn't working properly and it might be symptomatic of a larger problem. Posted this originally on the US Yahoo Answers site, 1 good response but issue still unresolved. "Arrived home to the g/f saying that she had "broken the internet" .... "sh1t" I thought, if she has managed to do that (did not put it past her), there is going to be a lot of angry people out there .... !!! Unbeknown to me, my anti-virus software (ES ET Smart Security) was 19 days out of date ..... no reminders, nice. Anyway, downloaded on my PC, transferred via usb pen drive and installed various new anti-virus & spyware softwares (AVG Free 8.5, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware) some which found nothing (?!) some which cleaned out / quarantined 'a lot' (unsure if I still have the logs). Problem before was that couldn't do anything without warnings (from ES ET Smart Security) popping up about the viruses and IE opening and trying to go to p0rn.com & vi@gra.org. Seems like I have cleaned up the laptop now but cannot connect to any site (yahoo, facebook) without the HTTP Error 404. 'Interestingly' the auto navigate attempts to p0rn.com & vi@gra.org didn't bring back any content either. recently a so called mate came round my house and as i was out of the room he started doing something on my pc, when i came back i realized it was a switchblade 2.0 and he had stole all my passwords and history on the DUMP, i deleted the dump of his switchblade so he didn't have anything ( or does he because i only deleted the dump) anyway now i have read up on it and certain topics say that a usb switchblade 2.0 opens a back door( what is this) and a ghost admin account which could contain a key logger. The virus is crashing my computer and not allowing me to open any internet browser (IE or Firefox). My HardDrive is making noise and light flashing all the time like its doing something even when I am not doing anything. I have Windows XP. I've Downloaded several Anti Virus software programs but still cant get rid of it. AVG Free sees it but cant get rid of it fully. Spy Bot wont load in normal mode or safe mode (I think the Virus is stopping its process) Super Anti Spyware wont unpack after downloading and windows wants to send an error report. Adware doesn't see or fix it Malwarebytes also wont unpack after downloading in either safe mode or normal mode. Does anyone know a free anti virus software that will work in safe mode and remove this virus?I tried to install Malbytes AntiMalware program but the virus was not allowing it to unpack and install. I tried renaming it but still it wouldnt install. I down load spybot but this also wouldnt install. Adaware and AVG couldnt remove it after they successful installed. I finally download AVAST antivirus and it installed properly and started finding viruses and asked to reboot. When it rebooted it started scanning from the boot menu and was able to find the remaining virus files and i sent them to the chest. It took nearly 1 hour to scan every file in the computer but it was thorough and found all the files. So thanks for your input. I am recommending AVAST if people have trouble installing the other recommended anti virus programs. I wasn't able to test them since they only started working after the virus has been removed with AVAST. But i'm keeping them on my computer to block future attacks. more

Then up popped windows with another warning "the anti-spy software you have purchased who is "repairing" is actually taking information from ALL of your files and they showed me pop ups of what was happening which at that moment was 5 of them saying - the file name,location and at bottem had 'gathering information from files" i instantly pulled the plug out of the wall then them after a few minutes i turned it back on to use ad-aware but then i had to turn on net quickly updated it and took wireless adapter straight out, then scanned pc but that risk i took updating turnes out to complete pile of shite- it was completely useless as it didn't even detect it, there was no option of typing in name of virus to give them a chance of finding it, so i then tried attempt number 2- aol- which when i had the computer i was on dail-up and it keeps asking to re-start. well the virus system on that still works, and done a scan and repair i chose for them to completely,permernantly remove it from system, but a little later i was informed that during that process aol virus/spyware was hijacked,now im getting window pop ups saying the virus is making ALL my files currupt, even with the internet disabled . today i turned it on to find ive about 60-70% lost control of the system i cant open most of my daughters school work, shes lost all her school research, i tried to connect the net (she uses belkin wireless) so i could go to windows or microsoft so could find a different virus software-that had 100% proof it was there software) and download it to get them straight away but again control of belkin went out the window with my system, as soon as i searched microsoft windows the signal shut off completely and havent had one since i coulnt even do a restore with windows, i'm trying my hardest to do this without wiping the whole system as i cant re-install windows because i can't afford a windows licence, i'm trying to raise 5 children and i've been told they are expensive, and my daughter needs the pc she was struggling really bad at school and since having the net she's been doing extra research,and educational programmes to help her spelling, reading, maths etc and myself and the school have seen a massive improvment with grades and even her confidence and i can't take it away from her. is there a free windows xp/vista download i could put directly onto disk and put onto hwr computer then i can wipe everything and start a-fresh please more

I am not that computer savvy. I need a laptop so that I can keep working while traveling. How much do I need to spend for a good one which will serve for two years or so? Also can I use free software such as adware, to block viruses and such? It seems a waste to take what the store pushes, as far as anti-virus and spy-ware. When I bought my desktop at Best Buy it seemed I spent a lot extra for that stuff. Any recommendations on which laptop to buy, how much to spend, and how to outfit it with software to be up and running, without spening a lot of unnecessary money.. would be greatly appreciated. Again, I will need to be live with financial markets(such as stocks) and be able to download and view videos of ten minutes in length. I know that I have pop-up blocker, and my e-mail received gets scanned for virus,...but I can not find anywhere on my "tools bar" an icon where i can open some anti virus service that is already on my computer, and scan all my files for viruses, as I could do before with Nortons. I did a yahoo anti spy scan and it found a trojan but cant remove it. I then did a Mcafee internet security scan. that could not even find the trojan. I removed that software because i dont like it(came with new computer). I installed Trend Micro internet security and it also can not find the trojan. i downloaded the free ad- adware 2008 and that also has not found anything. i'm getting frustrated because i have no clue if i really have a trojan. i'm not downloading spy bot because that screwed up my last computer. I have also already tried Kaspersky online scan and it found nothing. please dont recommend a free anti virus program because u can not have more then one anti virus program on ur computer.
