Resolved Question: What to look out for when buying a Yamaha DT 125 RE?

After much deliberation I have decided to choose a Yamaha DT 125 RE as my first bike, 2004 onwards. I would just like some pointers on what to look out for when buying, so that I know that I am buying the best bike I can mechanically. It doesn't really bother me if its a bit scuffed here and there because im going to use it for green laning quite regularly anyway. Obviously I'll be looking for low miles, checking for any irregular knocks and taps at tick-over, air-box not to have been tampered with. But hopefully someone can tell me where faults usually occur so I can keep an eye out for these more DT125 specific problems. I know a fair ol' bit about vehicles and mechanics so you don't have to explain things like I'm ill educated on the subject if it makes things easier, and I also have a digital copy of the service manual if that helps you, help me. One last thing, please don't try and advise other bikes I really don't want to hear it. I've done enough research on my own and made my choice. Voting Question: Sitacon st-3x number of exposures?

The exposure count says I have around 24 exposures left, when I have already taken about 6 shots and the film has 24 exposures on it. Are the shots I'm taking now being exposed over my previous ones? Resolved Question: What should I do? My security company is letting me down.?

I'm in the middle of a three year contract with ADT. They've been just fine up until now. My monitoring company was called ProtectionPlus. They sold my account two months ago to a new company called Nova alarms. The guy came in to transfer me over, looked around, played with it... and set of a tampering alarm. He told me he would fix it, but didn't before he left. Protection Plus called me to tell me about the alarm and I said "oh, it's okay. He's just working on it. He'll be back to fix it all next week. Can you ignore it?" They said sure. The next week the guy was four HOURS late for his appointment. I cancelled the music lessons I teach to do it, so I lost a little money there. He called me and told me he wasn't coming because he couldn't get the manual to my alarm just now. He said he'd come back next week. He didn't. Ever again. This was in April. In the meantime the Protection Plus people have been calling me and my family and friends about this alarm he set off. I'm actually starting to be a little afraid because I haven't set my alarm in ages. What if he deliberately messed it up? What if he gets mad at me for calling to complain about the problem. The companies have been very slow to call me back... I'm still waiting! Any advice? more

Resolved Question: Kenwood car stereo not saving programme presets when ignition is turned off?

I've just removed my Kenwood KDC 3031 CD player/radio car stereo from my old car and put it into my new car. It works fine, but it loses all my preset information (radio stations, CD tracks, graphic equaliser settings, clock etc) everytime I switch off the ignition. I had a look through the user manual which states that this is caused by incorrectly wired ignition and battery wires. According to the manual, the battery wire is yellow, and the ignition wire is red. These appear to be wired up as per the manual (these are as they were in my last car - I haven't tampered with them in any way). I initially tried the stereo with the existing wiring harness in my new car (new to me, is a 12 year old car!) and the stereo worked, but the lost memory problem was apparent. I then bought the loom specifically for my car, but it has made no difference. What else can I try? I must stress that I am not mechanically minded and have no experience of electrics. I have limited tools etc, so would appreciate any explanations to be geared towards an idiot like me!! Thanks!! (PS, Don't know if this is at all relevant, but the stereo was originally in a 1998 Vauxhall Frontera 2.2i 16v and worked perfectly. My Menvier TS790+ home alarm has two Tamper terminals to which was connected a Speech Dialler I removed (it's an optional auxilairy device now entirely disconnected from the main box). The Installation & Programming Manual states that if these Tamper terminals aren't used they must be "linked out". What does that mean? (At the moment, I simply have the two terminals unused.) The issue is that the alarm now shows an "Aux/Bell Tamper" message that won't go away with power-down, the "System Relearn" option to re-log the hardware, or even a full system reset. Consequently, I can't set the alarm. Thanks for any help! more

Resolved Question: 2001 Dodge Durango Alarm issue (annoyance)?

My car, when hitting the unlock button on my remote key less entry, unlocks but sets off the alarm randomly for no reason. The horn beeps three times and then stops. I looked in the manual and it says if it does this then that means someone tampered with the car. This isn't the case though since it happens about 80% of the time I unlock the car and happens in places where no one would get to it. Anyone know why or how to fix this issue. I can't disable the alarm at all in the vehicle. more

Resolved Question: Ebay buyer claims he did not get all of his package, although everything was shipped. What do I need to do?

I sold a phone on ebay. Along with it I send the original box, charger, and manual. The buyer received the box with the charger, original box, and manual but claims there was no phone. However, I know for a 100% fact the phone was shipped too. There is nothing I can do, everything is shipped. Now he is wanting a refund or for me to send the phone. I kinda think he is a fraud. (I don't know though) It just seems kinda strange that he got everything but the phone and the box had not been tampered with. I shipped Fed Ex and he did have to sign for it ... so don't you think he should have checked the box and contents first? He could have not signed for it and they would ship it back to me, right? And if the box had been messed with he should have not signed for it. If someone was going to steal it don't you think they would just take everything? What do you think I should do? Is there anyway that Ebay can take funds out of my paypal account without my authorization? more

Resolved Question: Is there a way to sabotage somebody's refrigerator without being able to tell that someone did it on purpose?

I had some roommates (a married couple whom i thought had themselves together and were mature) that i let stay w/ me for a month. Two weeks into it, they decided they didn't want to pay me the full rent and asked if they could just pay half of my electic/water bills, even though the guy doesn't work and the girl makes $24 an hour, compared to my measley paycheck of $500 every 2 weeks. After I told them no, that thats not gonna work, and unless they paid me the remaining $200 out of the $300 that they still owed, they needed to be out in 2 weeks. So they paid it and stayed til the end of the month. Things started happening to my house. I was doing dishes w/ them one day (I made them stay here and clean because they always left during the evenings and HE never got off his a** and did a thing, so I caught them before they left), keep in mind I had used the dishwasher 3 days before and it was fine. Well, water started pouring out from under the sink. Someone had taken the hose clamp off, deliberately. It had been there 3 days before! I know I didn't do it, but I suspect one of them did it thinking I'd be there by myself when I started the dishwasher and I'd be stuck w/ the mess. I'm not stupid, so I fixed it. Not only that, they knocked a hole in my wall when moving out, and have yet to come back and fix it. I don't know how someone can be that uncoordinated when carrying bedposts out a door. They weren't going to tell me about it either. They went and purchased a piece of sheetrock that semi-matched my walls and snuck it around the back under their window. Like I'm yet again, stupid and wouldn't notice. After they discovered that an 8ft piece of sheetrock won't fit inside of a 3 foot window, they decided to tell me about it. Since I hadn't become angry at that point, I said its cool, just patch it and return the sheetrock piece and bring me a can of paint since I was gonna paint that room anyway. They patched it but never returned to sand it down. The sheetrock was left outside and eventually bowed because it rained on it. It got thrown away, but I still expect the paint. Okay...moving on.... Now my fridge has gone all to hades, and it has now magically stopped cooling. And another thing, my strip of wood (it hides the big ugly hole in the ground that would otherwise exist between the kitchen and the living room since one's laminate and one's some kind of composite wood flooring) is popping up, almost as if someone has moved the fridge out, tampered w/ the back of it, pushed the piece of wood up to the point that the nails have warped and went all the way through it to the floor, and then pushed it back against the wall like nothing ever happened. The guy that came to look at it said its either the compressor or it has a freon leak. We just had a serious snow storm, so I ended up having to stick groceries in snow for 4 days until the power came back on. My roommates ate most of my food anyway and never once helped out w/ groceries. Since they weren't here to help me, I didn't know what needed to be thrown away or saved, and I ended up throwing most of the frozen foods away because it couldn't be saved. I don't know if that made them mad, but since they left, about 2 weeks ago, my fridge won't keep cold. I cut it off, let it sit for a day, then cut it back on, several times, and it was working, but now its completely stopped. It sounds like its running, everythings working fine, however its not getting cold. Now I have to go buy a new one because its gonna cost just as much to fix it. Thats why I'm asking, since they didn't want to pay me, and ended up having to once I laid down the law and wouldn't be taken advantage of anymore, I think it made them mad and they've done something to it. By the way, I have ALL of my appliance manuals in a filing cabinet in the closet they used. My fridge one was in there too, but now its mysteriously gone. Also, my dishwasher one just happened to be laying in the floor of the closet and I don't know who got it out of the manila envelope that it was in. Tell me I'm not going crazy. I'm past the point of convinced that they've did this to me, just to make sure I put that extra $200 that I made them pay (like we had originally agreed on!) to stay here until the end of the month (they ain't gonna pay me $100 for rent and pretty much expect to keep living here), to good use. Resolved Question: How can I get my video game?

Here's the situation: I bought a new copy of Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition for the PS3 from a Gamestop retailer. After I got home, I opened the game box and found that there was a video game manual inside, but nothing else. There was no game disc inside! I bought a brand new copy of the game; the packaging did not appear to be tampered with in any way, and it even had the shrink-wrap on it. I assume it is a manufacturing problem. So I took it back to the store where I purchased, proceeded to explain what the problem was, and they replied with a "sorry. it's against our policy. we can't do anything if you don't have the game.". Then they suggested I call the company who made the game (Bethesda) and explain the situation. I did, only to get the same answer from them as well. So I went back to Gamestop for the third time, told them what Bethesda said about the retailer being liable, only to get a shoulder shrug and "sorry bro that's the policy." I ended up calling the corporate offices of both Bethesda and Gamestop, where they then directed me towards a manager, both of which did not answer their phones. I left a message with both and have yet to have my calls returned. So HERE is the question.....How the hell do I get my game?! Has anyone had a similar situation or scenario when it comes to "missing" items? I spent $60 on a box and instruction manual. This is my first PS3 game, and so this whole situation is a little discouraging. more

Resolved Question: Do I still have a legal case in small claims court?

O.K. here's what happened. I got my car fixed by a mechanic at a Towing repair company. First off, I called asking what was wrong with the car and how much it would cost. They couldn't tell me, and it took 1 week and a half for them to tell me what was wrong and how much it would cost, and 3 weeks for them to fix the car. It should never take anyone that long to tell a customer what's wrong with their car. I was calling almost everyday to find out. Later, they said it was the shifter cable. I have a manual transmission. I said o.k. to go ahead and have them fix the problem. They fixed the car and I paid them which almost came to $1,000 in parts and labor. On the same day, a few hours later the car doesn't run. I told them that they need to fix it, and I shouldn't be charged for it. They said it depends on what the problem is, because it may be something totally different. This happened less than a day of getting my car back from them. They are liable for it not working I feel. The car isn't running and I need to be reimbursed or have them fix the problem. I didn't take my car back to have them fix it because they said they may charge me if it's something totally different. Now, I have to take it to another mechanic shop, and I need to find out if anything was tampered with in aspects that they were trying to rip me off. However, I can't afford to get the car fixed until next month. Will waiting till next month hurt my chances because it will take a month from now before I can get it in writing? Also, do you think just like me that they have to fix the car for free because it's been less than a day and it stopped running on me? It must've been something they did wrong. Help me out with advice. more

i just bought my pc of a seller of ebay and i no his good cuz i no other people who bought from the same buyer it comes with a hopeless manual though tellin u wat to do and when u open up the pc its done already only like 2 cable inside the pc arnt connecting havent touched or tampered yet. but ive connecting everything im supose which is outside stuff when i turn on the pc and screen the screen says it cant display because no connection or somethiing i tried differerend cables but not working so dont answer with the cables or the screen as the issue its the pc but not sure wat. with the pc i also got this wire type thingy from asus its like very thin and long,strong but wide e.g 35 cables put together in a row . it says only HDD on it and has 3 end connections one coloured blue one black one grey not sure what that is and unsure wat to do with it or if it has something to do with my issue plz help. more

Resolved Question: Is AF a sin for pro photographers?

I feel guilty when I'm using auto-focus and always try to focus manually, watching for the light dot of the focus indicator(I use an eos 350d). Another reason for this is that my lenses don't work both auto and manual focus at the same time so I fear forgetting I'm at AF and tampering with the gears thinking I'm at MF. Of course I do all the bokeh and the like stuff with MF and I like the control however, especially in moving subjects I try to use servo-AF. What's your take on this? Is AF ok, or just an amateur's tool? more

Resolved Question: How do you know if a MS PRO DUO is original?

So here's the deal. I had my Sony MagicGate High Speed 8GB for 7 months now when it suddenly bugged down just yesterday. It's decrease in performance was gradual though not really that noticeable until it suddenly just gave out. Now I can't almost access it, with a success ratio of 1:3 and even then it won't play a game without hanging after the first 3 minutes. I bought it as part of a package deal that if roughly converted will equals to 275$. I can't tell if it's a Class A (original) or Class B (fake) because I already threw the box a long time ago and whether how much it costs as a standalone, but this is what I can tell; it has a correct UPC (universal product code) of MSX-M8GS. Second line is 2800L8, and third line being CASC1000000. It even has this circle gold seal of being original and a blue sticker box that is usually used for warranty purposes. And another seal that I cannot see. And it says it's made in Japan or somewhere since I could only see the last letter which is N, so it can't be China right? And the box has a manual (I can't remember if it was multilingual) and only the card itself inside. So what, is it an original or a fake? I used BlackSpeed v.2 to determine it's speed just now and discovered it only has a 172 Index rating (which seems to be standard Class A from my research), a far outcry from the average 350+ minimum (I suppose; what I saw is 371) Index rating that it's supposed to have. If it already has that many seals to certify it is an ORIGINAL which I see it now as NOT (the transfer rate won't even go higher than 3MB and standard is 1.75MB). What is the true signs of it being an original? Is it even supposed to have those seals because the way I see it might have been tampering job. And 7 months, come on! Is it only really supposed to last that long I swear I couldnt have even made use of more than a thousand flashes of read and write. Which brings me to ask; what is the lifespan of an original? And what does the box looks like? Is the manual multilingual? Does it suppose to come in with anything else? Please I need an answer, I don't want to go spending money for a MS every 7 months. And it's not as simple as going to a certified Sony store, those are few and far in between in my place and even legit stores here whose main products are Class B still carries Class A(s) with them. Sorry for the very long rant. But I hope you understand my position. Any help will be deeply appreciated.I can't see the words Magic Gate said anywhere more so the word "supported". Here are the exact steps I take in brewing espresso: 1) Grind beans on a fine setting. 2) Fill metal filter with grounds (b/c I'm making 4 cups) 3) Tamper the grounds so they are tightly packed 4) Insert and lock Brew Head 5) Fill glass container to the 4 cup mark 6) Dump water into reservoir and tightly close lid 7) Turn knob to Brew 8) Allow espresso to brew **At this point, once espresso is dripping, steam is coming from the brew head. Is it escaping when it shouldn't be?** 9) Place frothing head into milk 10) Turn knob to Steam and nothing happens. I can't even "release the pressure" like the manual says to do so I'm always afraid that I'll get steam burns when removing the reservoir lid. Please help!! more

A month ago I created an Unattended Windows Install using nLite. It was XP Home with up-to-date hotfixes and SP3 slipstreamed in, with minimal components for use on an old laptop. The previous OS was XP SP1 and had already been activated. The last time I tried reformatting there was no prompt for reactivation, so I left out the activation software for increased hard drive space. Later it starts prompting me to reactivate windows. I click the little balloon and attempt the process, only for it mysteriously disappear. I tried going to MS website to see how to manually activate and the program it tells me to use isn't on my computer. 30 days later and now its expired. At the logon screen a message appears asking to activate Windows. If you click [No], it logs off, logs back on, and asks again. If you click [Yes] then an error message appears [Error Code: 0x80004005], Windows logs off, logs back on, and asks again. It's caught in a loop. I can log on in Safe Mode, but not with Networking. The product key is legal and had been previously validated. I attempted to reinstall the WPA software as per Microsoft's page on Error Code: 0x80004005 suggests (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306081), but I continue to receive the same error that the file is no good. There are essentially no third party programs installed on the computer to tamper with the activation. Short of reformatting, what can I do to patch the WPA stuff to correctly allow it to activate or possibly bypass it so that I can try another method for manual activation?ωiiρlυѕ: Still Windows XP Home. I have a 1977 VW Beetle with Bosch AFC fuel injection. How can I tell if the air box or the # II Engine Temperature sensor is malfunctioning? The Sensor reads 7,000 OHMS but it should be 2,500. The Air box shows the right OHMS as specified in the manual BUT it had been tampered with. The previous owner opened it up because the adjustment for the air/fuel ratio was not enough. They might have re-adjusted the air box to compensate for a bad temperature sensor eh? The previous owners mechanic might have use a band-aid solution to skirt around a problem with the peoples car running either to rich or too lean. How can I rectify this problem? How do I know how to reset the air box (air flow meter) back to the factory setting? A new air box runs $180 to $350 american dollars. We got this tv a while back and every now and then during a tv show the v-chip will kick in randomly. It didn't come like this out of the box so I suspect one of the kids was tampering with it one day. The password in the manual does not work and there doesn't seem to be any more information on it. I have a 32" Sharp LCD HDTV and a 19" Sony LCD/TFT monitor but I recently found out that these displays contain fluorscent bulbs with small amounts of mercury. Is there any risk at all for any of the mercury to reach the users or viewers assuming that the user does not open up the screen? I presume that as these screens are sealed/enclosed in a very "air-tight" manner, sothat even if the bulbs were to break or become damaged, the Hg should not beable to escape the enclosed structure of the device. Is this a correct assumption? Looking at the manuals, there is no mention of any health concern due to theHg in the device - the only notice is to take proper precautions when disposing the device. But again, if the monitor's enclosure is not opened or tampered with by the user, is there any risk of any Hg dissipating out of it? I believe not but I would like a qualified opinion. My wife and I purchased a new electric water heater last fall (2006) shortly after moving into our new home, as the existing unit was about 20+ years old and wrapped in a lot of insulation. While our new water heater is much better, we've also found recently that the hot water doesn't last as long for our showers (we just recently changed the shower head to one with more pulse). My question is this - how do I go about turning up the heat a bit on the water heater (and yes, I know that I'm not being very helpful, as I don't know the make or the model right off)? The one thing that threw me was that I was pretty certain that I read in the manual that you have to drain the thing before you turn the heat up. Is that right? Just looking for advice/feedback before I go tampering with the thing. Would hate to make a wrong choice and give my wife a scalding shower! more

I am seriously considering the Apex'i SAFC but do not want to tamper with the CPU though. Would anyone recommended a manual fuel regulator that plugs directly into the fuel line (i.e. HKS AFR or either the OBX Fuel regulator). Also, SAFC won't be a DIY project correct? How hard is it to install the manual fuel regulator? If it's anything like installing the manual boost controller, than I would go for the manual one. But if the benefits of the Apex'i SAFC would improve my overall performance more than the manual one, I would choose Apex'i. Let me know what you guys think. Resolved Question: How does one de-activate the Tamper Proof control on a Sharp TV model # 13VT-G100.?

Sharp does not support this set which dates back to 1999. The set was working fine until my friend changed the batteries in the remote. I tried resetting the remote by taking out the batteries and holding down the Power button for 30 seconds but the Tamper Proof is still active (from the Sharp website). The set is now completely disabled with only the Tamper Proof light coming on. The original Owners Manual has been misplaced. My friend is an invalid who really misses her TV and is on a very limited budget. It doesn't make sense to junk this TV if I could only deactivate the Tamper Proof. more
