Voting Question: Should I allow my daughter to become a vegan? Will it harm her?
Currently my daughter is on a vegan parade in her life right now. She watched some movie last month and keeps begging the rest of the family to give up meat and other items that she thinks are harmful to the animal kingdom. Me and my boys haven't given into this at all and are still only providing hamburgers, hot dogs, roast, meatloaf, and other meat type meals. Since we had a good year at the deer camp last winter our supplies have not run out. My daughter keeps refusing to eat but I only tell her there is nothing else and this food was provided by the land and she shouldn't refuse mother natures blessings. I am beginning to worry because she keeps skipping meals. I'm worried if she goes to this vegan stuff that she won't get her nutrients by never eating meat. moreResolved Question: What Are Sources of Barakah(Blessings)?
1. Good Intentions If you want something to have barakah attached to it, have good intentions for it. More specifically, make sure that deed is intended for the sake of Allah (SWT). Looking at the definition of Barakah again, you may guess that without us intending what we have or do to be for thesake of Allah, the “Divine goodness” won’t be attached to it. 2. Piety and Belief in Allah Allah says in the Quran: “If the people of the towns had but believed and feared Allah, We should indeed have opened out to them (All kinds of) blessings from heaven and earth…”(Surat Al-A’raf, verse 96). And He says in the Quran: “And for those who fear Allah, He (ever) prepares a way out. And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine” (Surat Al-Talaq, verses 2-3). 3. Putting your trust in Allah Allay says in the Quran: “And if any one puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is ((Allah)) for him. For Allah will surely accomplish his purpose: verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion” (Surat Al-Talaq, verses 3) Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: “If only you relied on Allaah a true reliance, He would provide sustenance for you just as He does the birds: They fly out in the morning empty and return in the afternoon with full stomachs.” 4. Reading Quran This is the fountain of the Barakah! But subhanaAllah, we rarely drink from it! Allah says in the Quran: “And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings, and confirming (the revelations) which came before it…” (Surat Al-An’am, verse 92). So read the Quran, and note the blessings and barakah of Allah coming to your life. The further we are from this book, the less barakah we’ll have in our lives, trust me. 5. Saying Bismillah When you say bismillah before anything you do, you’re invoking the name of Allah on that activity, not only will that activity be blessed but shaytaan cannot take part in it! So always say bismillah before anything you do! SubhanaAllah, it’s easy for us to forget to say Bismillah or be conscious of saying it. Sometimes we’re so used to saying it that we can’t remember if we said it or not! Try to be conscious of saying Bismillah and understand what you’re saying. 6. Eating with People Anyone who had the experience of inviting guests to his/her house will know this one. No matter how little you think the food you’re presenting to your guest is, it’s always enough! (note: this is not an excuse to be miserly when you invite guests over, in fact we should follow the sunnah of our Prophet Ibhraim (Peace be upon him) who when the angels visited his house and he didn’t know they were angels he went and prepared a large meal for them). What I’m referring here is the blessing that occurs with eating together, this is confirmed in the hadeeth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) who said :”Eat together, for blessing is in Jamma’a (congregation or being together)…” and in another hadeeth “Whoever has food enough for two persons, should take a third one, and whoever has food enough for four persons, should take a fifth or a sixth (or said something similar).” 7. Honesty in Trade This is for all of the business people out there (include ebayers!), don’t think that lying and deceiving people would make your trade profitable, on the contrary, it’ll remove the blessing from your trade. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: “The buyer and the seller have the option ofcancelingor confirming the bargain unless they separate, and if they spoke the truth and made clear the defects of the goods, them they would be blessed in their bargain, and if they told lies and hid some facts, their bargain would be deprived of Allah’s blessings.” Yes, it’s difficult to be honest when you’re trying to sell something, but trust me it’s worth it. 8. Dua Ask Allah for barakah! If you listen to some of the Duas from the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) you’ll notice how the Prophet used to make dua for barakah. We always say “May Allah bless you!” well, guess what? That’s a source of barakah! Also, when you’re invited to someone’s house, Prophet Muhammad advised us to make the following dua for the host:”O Allaah, bless for them, that which You have provided them, forgive them and have mercy upon them.” 9. Halal income/money Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said: “O people, Allah is good and He therefore, accepts only that which is good”Scholars refer this to Halal income and the importance of Halal income. A scholar also said that the one who eats Haram his limbs will disobey Allah whether he likes it or not, and the one who eats Halal and seeks Halal income his limbs will also do good and would be given the permission to seek goodness. This concept of your limbs being “blessed” and enabled to do good, is truly a blessing and a barakah we should all seek. Reminds me of a story of the old man, who jumped a large distance that young people couldn’t do. So when the moreResolved Question: Can any Jews (prefer Orthodox) answer this please?
As a follow up to my earlier question about brachas or prayers for meals, if I say hamotsi for pizza, do I wash my hands with the washing prayer and then before talking immediately say the hamotsi and take a bite out of the pizza itself as the bread product? Do I do the same if it were bagels? or is the hamotsi said over an actual slice of bread and then I can eat the pizza or bagels? Thanks! and bonus question: if I say multiple prayers like when there's no bread product, for mzonot, shehakol etc then the blessings after a snack - is there any order to say them in such as does it make a difference if the al hamichyah is said before or after boray nfoshot? thak you@!Also, the prayer after a fruit is kinda long. Do you actually have to say the whole thing after having just an apple for example? Also, if you have cereal that has wheat or oats in it, do you say the product of Israel prayer instead of the hamichyah afterward?so you don't say the al hypayrot after fruit, it's only the nfoshot?thanks for the great answers, appreciate them! moreResolved Question: What are you doing to prepare for Ramadan? (salam alaikum)?
Preparing for Ramadan practice getting up for for (that’s if you don't already) praying 5 times a day on time Made the recommended Dhikr after every prayer Make Dua for the Muslim Ummah Gave charity Make Dua for the Prophet (sallalahu ‘alayhe wasallam) Make Tawbah and Istighfaar 100 times Drink more water and other fluids reducing the amount of food you eat at each meal. Avoid eating heavy meals Consume more fruits, vegetables. Do your best to observe the optional fasts on Monday and Thursday, or the 13th, 14th, 15th of Shaban (highly recommended practices of Prophet Muhammad - peace be upon him). Use your time better Reduce the amount of time you spend on leisure activities like television-watching, computer use, and socializing so you have more time to get a head start on reading the Qur'an. Offer optional prayer whenever possible Do shopping and groceries from before (whatever is possible, for Ramadan and eid), that way you would have more time for worship in Ramadan. Spend more time reading Islamic books, especially the Quran, Seerah, Hadith, and Fiqh. Get to know the importance of the month, i.e, Allah(swt) rewards us the maximum during this month, so as a believer it’s our job to do as much as good deeds as possible Thinking of Allah, as much as we can, remembering Him, His blessings and expressing our gratitude by praising Him Spend some time listening to recitations from the Quran. Train yourself to go bed early so that you do not miss the Fajr prayers. May Allah swt bless us in this holy month and make hell fire haram on us and write Jannah in our fortune. Ameen. moreResolved Question: Christians: What does it mean to turn your life over to the Lord?
I'm in my early 40's and have been a Christian since the age of 13. I was not raised in church but began going on my own at 18. Prior to that time, I would go with neighborhood friends. I've had my share of struggles in my life, but at age 28 began to really turn my life over to the Lord and had true peace in my life. That lasted until age 32 when I moved into this new town where I've been for 9 years. Some blessings happened, like meeting my husband, spending time with my elderly grandmother and getting to pray with a distant cousin who needed support since she was dying of cancer. Other than those things, I feel like I really don't belong here at all. I do know feel accepted, I still Love the Lord, but do not feel as close to him as I once did. Could it be I feel this way because my relationship with God is not what it should be? Or is it because I need to leave this town. Even my husband admits that I get some strange reactions from people, even church people. I used to pray without ceasing, but only pray before meals and at night sometimes. I've never been a big bible reader and that concerns me. I know that the Lord has not left me or forsaken me. What are your thoughts? moreResolved Question: And how does your magic garden grow? C/C?
(an exercise in writing a rubaiyat) Magic Garden Summer magic never ceases to amaze. The magician’s hat yields in many ways and those blessings we do gladly revere, knowing how short are these wonderful days. Though no rowan tree’s magic resides near we use it’s wands to mark our own trails here. And in these trails we seed the ground with care praying that the fruit will again appear. to bless our own tables with food to share. For in sharing magic makes us aware of our special…. interconnectedness and makes our meals very joyous affairs. So toast with the rowan’s red wine to bless the rich bounty of summer’s fine noblesse. Savoring each day’s warm loving caress with the hat’s magic that it does possess.its is correct, thanks for the edit moreResolved Question: Whats wrong with being fat?

Anas, a close Companion of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) reported, "A Jewish woman brought a poisoned lamb to the Prophet, and he ate of it. When the woman was brought to him, people suggested, 'Shall we kill her?' The Prophet said, 'No.' I have recognized the effects of that poisoning in the Prophet's throat ever since." (Al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawood, Ahmad, and others). Following the Prophet's example in any situation is to make sure of choosing the right course of action. Some people may think that this applies to matters of religion only. In Islam there is no differentiation between religious and "worldly" matters. Everything in people's lives is evaluated from the Islamic viewpoint. Hence the Prophet's example provides guidance to us in all spheres of life. It is needless to say that this applies, in perhaps greater measure, to social behavior and relations with other people. It is important to study how the Prophet treated other people in a comprehensive range of situations in order to understand the Islamic approach to social relations. Here, we are giving a few brief notes on one characteristic that manifested itself in the Prophet's behavior in a variety of situations. That characteristic is forgiveness of one's enemies. When the woman was brought before the Prophet, he asked her about her motives. She did not deny having poisoned the lamb. She said, "I thought that if you were truly a Prophet, you would not be harmed. If you were a king (meaning that if his claim to prophethood was false), then I would have rid people of you." When that woman contemplated her attempt, she must have realized that if she were to be successful, she would have avenged the defeat of her people. She was certain that the Prophet accepted any gift given to him and always tried to please the person who gave him a gift by eating from it if it was food or using it if it was something to be used. Moreover, she realized that the Prophet would not be the only one to eat of that lamb. Any of his Companions who would be attending with him would be invited to join him in his meal. Quite a number of them, probably some of the leading figures, would die with him. That could very well have been the outcome of her attempt. Indeed one of them, Bishr ibn Al-Baraa' was the first to eat. The Prophet himself ate one or two bites. He immediately signaled his Companions to stop. He told them, "Do not touch it. One of its organs is telling me that it is poisoned." Bishr ibn Al-Baraa' soon died. The Prophet himself complained of the effects of the poison for the rest of his blessed life. Anas, who continued in the Prophet's service for 10 years until he passed away, was able to recognize the change that affected the Prophet as a result of this poisoned lamb. She must have used a very powerful poison to produce such a lasting effect. It is indeed reported that the Prophet said during his illness, just before passing away, that he continued to complain from the poisoned food he ate at Khaibar. For this reason, a number of scholars have argued that the Prophet was also a martyr. That means that Allah has given him the honor of being a martyr in addition to the honor of being a Prophet and a messenger. what do you think .........? moreResolved Question: Religious Believers: Do you ever give thanks to God for the works & contributions of other human beings?
I don't mean to be asking here, should you or can you give thanks TO other humans. But if you are in the habit of giving thanks to God, as you conceive of God, for the different blessings in your life, do you ever think to thank God for what other humans did to make those blessings possible? For instance, if you thank God for each meal you eat, do you ever think to thank God for the farmers who grew the grain or grazed the farm animals, and the equipment manufacturers and oil companies who provided those farmers with tractors and/or milking machines, and the feedlot operators and meatpacking plant workers who helped to convert the pigs, chickens, turkeys, cows or sheep to meat, and the railroad employees or teamsters who carried the meat and grain to the big agribusiness company who converted it into food appearing in your local supermarket? Do you also think sometimes to thank the supermarket manager, the stockboys, and the cashiers who made it possible for you to purchase your meat, milk or bread products? Not to mention the manufacturers of the big refrigerator units at the supermarket that kept the meat & milk cool until you purchased it, and the USDA inspectors and local health department inspectors who worked to make sure that the food for sale in the market was safe to eat? Or suppose you're a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Zoroastrian, Hindu or believer in some other theistic religion, and you're a coffee drinker or a tea drinker. When you offer a prayer of thanks to God for a cup of your favorite brew in the morning, do you also give thanks to God for the plantation laborers who picked the tea leaves or the coffee beans, the plantation managers who organized their labor, the winnowers and cleaners who separated the tea and the coffee beans from stray bits of dirt & straw & weeds, the laborers who packed the cleaned tea leaves & coffee beans into boxes or bags, the railroad employees or truckers who carried the packed tea & coffee to the local port for loading onto ships, the crews on the ships who carried the stuff to an American port for unloading, the longshoremen and/or crane operators who unloaded the cargo ships, the truckers who carried the coffee & tea to some big corporation for further processing -- and so on and on? Because if you truly believe in God, and if you think that God created the entire world and that in a sense He rules the entire world, all of these different humans employed by the food industry are "doing God's will" in providing you with your breakfast, aren't they? So should you show some gratitude to them, and some concern about their welfare, while you enjoy the products that God has provided to you partly through their labor? moreResolved Question: Eating with fingers info...?
I personally can't do it Lol, but these are the benefits... Advantages and Etiquette of eating with your hands: 1. If you have washed your hands before you eat you know that the utensil that goes in your mouth is clean. 2. Using three fingers to make a bite (sunnah) limits the amount of food in your mouth at the same time being aesthetically pleasing to the other diners and you end up eating less, and more slowly. These are all good things for the body. 3. He (PBUH) sat in a manner while eating that allowed less food to go into the stomach and give a feeling of fullness early in the food intake, thus preventing overeating 4. Recent research shows that when food touches the hands with the intention of eating, certain signals from the brain release digestive hormones that prepare the body to anticipate, receive, absorb and use the incoming food as needed. 5. He (PBUH) ate with his right hand (He said: the left hand feeds the shaytan) 6. He ate from what was in front of him, from the edge of the plate, not from the middle. 7. He (PBUH) passed the drink or dates to his right and to the eldest first; unless they were sitting on his left then he took permission of the child on his right to pass it to the elder first. In the final analysis for me it is enough that I am eating with my hands with the intention to follow the Sunnah, (sometimes I forget and return to the western ways) others don’t have to if they don’t want to. The finest aspect of this act is that if I eat with my hands because I am following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings upon him, it becomes an ibadah. Thus every time I begin my meal with Bismillah, eat with my hands and finish with Shukr Alhamdollillah, the act of eating which is other wise a mundane act of necessity becomes an ibadah. Prophet Muhammad PBUH did things for a reason, he lived his life the way he did for a reason, Allah Subhanawataala guided him to live in a certain manner and behave in a certain manner, (Allah Subhanawataala says in Surah AL Imran and I paraphrase it: He (PBUH) does what We (SWT) tell him to do, so follow him(PBUH) and obey him) I feel sometimes I may not know all the reasons right now due to my limited intellect and my inability to research everything before doing it. Thus for me it sort of boils down to two choices: I can follow the way of life that corporate advertisers have chosen for me based on the product they want to sell, or I can follow the way of life chosen by Allah for us. It is Allah SWT’s promise in the Quran that whatever He (SWT) has chosen for us is for our good and whatever He SWT has forbidden is harmful for us as human beings@Hassan: Actually there is a reward for eating with the hands.. following ''sunnah'' of the beloved prophet.. moreResolved Question: Ramadan: wasting food and water?

I am writing a research paper on the country Armenia. My thesis is: Armenia is a country with a unique culture and life ways, but can still be compared to that of the United States. Here's my essay so far: Armenia is a country with a unique culture and life ways, but can still be compared to that of the United States. Armenia is a federal republic government with its official name as the Republic of Armenia. It is located in southwestern Asia with Georgia to the north, Azerbaijan to the east, Iran to the south, and Turkey to the west. The basic unit of Armenian money is the dram. One U.S. dollar equals just under 550 drams. The capital and most populated city is Yerevan, but there are 27 cities, 31 towns, and 921 villages as well. As of 2009, there were 3.1 million people living in Armenia. Armenia is one of the earliest Christian civilizations with its first churches founded in the fourth century. Ninety four percent of the population belongs to the Armenian Apostolic Church, with the other six percent being Russian Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Protestant, or Islamic. The average life expectancy of men is seventy years and the expectancy of women is seventy seven years. Armenian customs and traditions are very distinctive and unique to their country. Weddings are not only important cultural events, but big holidays and excuses for elaborate parties. Many blessings and expensive gifts like jewelry and fabrics are given to the bride. Traditionally, Armenians have many children. A birth of a child is a happy event that is always welcome. For forty days after a baby’s birth, the child is not shown to anybody besides close family and relatives. Armenians are extremely hospitable, and whenever there is a guest, eating and drinking is a must. Today, Armenians wear ordinary clothes such as t-shirts, jeans, and tennis shoes, but traditional clothing for festivals and church celebrations. Armenia is a country with a 1600 year old history of literacy. The education of Armenians has always been highly valued. Ninety-nine percent of them are able to read and write. Armenia’s first universities were founded in the tenth through the thirteenth centuries. Schools that include business, agriculture, and architecture require students to pass very difficult tests. Children attend school between the ages of six and sixteen and study science, math, history, economics, and social studies. The Armenian education system is very unique, but just like students in the United States, Armenians first attend primary school, and then high school. However, in the United States, most graduate high school at the age of seventeen or eighteen and go on to college; unlike Armenians who finish school at sixteen. Armenian cuisine is a combination of various tastes and aromas, and like anywhere, the best food in Armenia is all homemade. Various spices, fruits, vegetables, and fish combine to make unique dishes. Even though their food served is mostly grilled meat, fruit, and vegetables, many desserts are also served at meals as well. Every family has a favorite sweet, and recipes for them are handed down through generations. Some family favorites include apricot yogurt cake, crunchy sugar cookies, and chewy sesame seed fudge. Their eating habits and dishes are very different from other countries, but they can still compare to the cuisine in the United States. American food is very diverse; everybody eats different foods. However, some enjoy grilled meat, fruit, and vegetables, and many enjoy dessert foods. Armenians are very happy people that take pride in their history and culture. Although it is very big, Armenia is full of people that love their home country and their unique way of life. I need help with a introduction -- all I have is my thesis down. moreResolved Question: Which venue should I choose!? I'm almost in tears!?
We booked the venue that was the most inexpensive yet beautiful last November. It is a clubhouse for a retirement home. $300 to rent the whole day including bartender. $14 one meal buffet. All the linens, silverware is included. So is cleanup. They also provide the flutes and the beverages. Here's the website. Click on the rightmost square. This place is kinda small...the dance floor is also kinda small. But it's gorgeous and affordable. www.123aeb.com Here's the issue: the chef (the head of the whole venue and also does catering,) notified me that the prices were raised since the menus he had given us were a couple years old to 15.50 per person (not including tax and 18 percent gratuity.) He also has not done very many weddings/receptions. (They do more dinners, quincearas, things like that.) The REAL issue, is that he said since he doesn't know how much food will be, he cannot guarantee what it will be until December (we are getting married this upcoming February.) On top of that, I was so naive we didn't sign any contracts, we just paid a deposit and the room fee ahead of time, so I want him to make a contract when we go to our tasting next Tuesday. He said if I really want a contract that he can make one, but he can't put the cost of food in there. He says he does not project it to go over a couple of dollars per person. My fiance thinks he might be a nice guy and thinks that maybe he just is inexperienced in this and that's why he doesn't have a contract and all that. This place is def very affordable, but my only question now is this contract...but then also I think about size. So my fiance said something to the extent of...if he refuses to put anything about food in the contract (he could at least put a cap in there of no more than 10 percent), that we maybe should drop the venue and go elsewhere. But there is NOWHERE else! They charge upwards of 4 thou for one reception! (Believe me, I was all over this when I first got engaged, I did my homework!) Another con of this place, is that they will be doing a headcount right before dinner. The problem with that, is my fiance told me he is going to have some coworkers drop by, not to eat or anything, but just to give their blessings and leave. I told the chef and he said, if they are there at that time then they might as well eat bc they will be counting them as part of the guestlist of the buffet if they are there. But then a brand new reception venue popped up on a local website I had never seen before. Here is the link: http://www.adventureqwest.com/prairie/index.html This place was very big, which I liked, but I did NOT like that the guy who owned the place was very strict with his contract and there were some hidden fees. For example: You HAVE to have everybody out by 11:30, no ifs ands or buts, or you get charged 125 dollars extra per half hour. Also, the guests have to pay for their own drinks at the bar, unless me and the groom buy a fountain thing which is 60 dollars per beverage! (for example, one pepsi fountain 60 dollars) Plus the guy seemed kind of paranoid, like we were out to screw him over or something, since he had such strict rules, he was kind of the opposite of the guy from the first venue where he was extremely laid back. The guy from this venue told me and my fiance that the first venue is CRAZY to be that cheap with their prices, and that he would go with them price wise and he doesn't think that the venue is trying to screw us over or anything...just that the guy is very inexperienced and doesn't have a clue. And it's a little more pricey at the total flat rate of $2691.10, he says you don't pay anymore than that unless you add more people to the list, which will be 16.91 per person (that's their food costs already calculated.) The cost is already there, cut and dried. 100 person minimum. My fiance and I went home, and we were so confused. We really don't know what to do. Go with choice one, or choice two? We have a tasting with the first venue this upcoming Tuesday, so we need a decision soon. Thank you so much for your help!!We plan on having 100 guests. Also you have to purchase your own flutes if you get the second venue. You guys don't realize how much you are helping me. Thank you!! And keep the answers coming, please. You are making me a lot less stressed! moreResolved Question: Looking for Barakah?????????

So when the young men asked the old man how he did it, moreResolved Question: Im jewish and the Torah says to keep Shabbis or your soul will be cut off from ther rest. Now im scared?

Ok, so the other night I was frustrated because even though God had blessed my mom, every time it was time for me to get what I was waiting for, something went wrong. The car I was going to get, broke down on Christmas. The gift I had been waiting so long for and was finally able to get, I couldn't because my mom got the opportunity to get a car so her money went to that instead. And because of the car, I found out she wouldn't be able to save the 500 a month so that we could get into real estate. So anyway, she told me "Your blessings can't come through me anymore" With all that said, I was disappointed because I felt like everything was falling apart and I'll just get a 9-5 when I move, never get into real estate and live a boring regular life. And that got me started on a fantasy conversation with my b/f about all of the things I wish I could do for people who were poor likeI was. Not that that has anything to do with this story... but let's get to the point. Anyway, today I ordered chinese and the guy gave me 3 fortune cookies (they usually only give you one per meal) My first one said: If a true sense of value is to be yours, it must come through service. Second: You will have gold pieces by the bushel Third: You will soon create a favorable impression on someone. Could this possibly mean anything? And what in the world does the second one mean? moreResolved Question: What would a Buddhist diet consist of?
I am exploring different approaches to the spiritual path and I know that diet is a very important part of the path. What I don't know is what typical meals would consist of. How many a day. 16. Have your meals together as a family, whenever possible: Sharing food together brings people's hearts together, coupled with Allah’s blessings. It is also perfect time for discussions. It’s a proven way of effective communication and of increasing affection. 17. Arrange an exquisite pot-luck get together: Organise a one-dish party, where all your close friends and their parents are invited. Make sure the parents have minimal involvement in cooking and logistics. Parents should come as guests, and you, the "religious" kids, should serve that evening! At first, your parents may laugh at the idea even. However, when they come together and see your love and dedication as a group, they cannot but help understand your desire for their guidance. Moreover, it will help them realize that their ‘kids are in safe hands’ and that they are ‘fun-loving’ people. It will give the parents a sense of belonging in a more religious setting. 18. Consult your parents’ religious friends: Sometimes finding a religious friend or relative of your parent, who has some influence on them, could also help. It's been observed that some people just change and return to Allah as soon as they find a good environment and a role model that they admire. If you know some friend of your father or mother, who is caring, social, and a practicing Muslim, you might want to request them to communicate with your parents more often and invite them to the social gatherings of the noble people. moreResolved Question: Would you marry this guy- or run?
Hi guys, love my guy deeply, he has a ring, and is going to propose soon. However, this situation is forcing me to have some questions. I'll tell you how Thanksgiving went down, for instance: we planned to spend it together of course at either a friend of his family's or his sister's. My family is across the country. Everything was fine, no arguments that week. Three days before Thanksgiving he picks me up for dinner. After I climbed in the car and gave him a kiss he told me he had something important to tell me and he looked VERY serious. He then told me in a cold tone that all our plans had changed: his "best friend" invited him over for Thanksgiving dinner and if I wasn't comfortable going to "her house" I was on my own. Otherwise, I could join THEM. Now, I was shocked speechless. Because we've been together for two years and it was this was all news to me. A best friend you wouldn't mention? Much less someone I'd not be comfortable with when I am easygoing? We both have female and male friends and I absolutely encourage all his friendships. Also, he's met my friends at this point as I have his. So I asked who the friend was, and he mentioned "a female he's known for years." Then I knew he was talking about a chick he had mentioned a couple of months ago and when I asked him her name, etc., he became all defensive about it. He wouldn't even tell me her name, etc. So I thought that was odd, since any best male friend I have he not only knows names but has met them. But I left that alone at the time b/c I trusted him. Well, to speed up the story I did tell him that any friend that significant to him, I'd be happy to meet but at least to tell me what her name is since we're going there for THANKSGIVING DINNER. And he reluctantly told me her name. I then asked her hubby's name and he didn't recall (bizarre to not remember your BEST FRIENDS HUBBYS NAME no?) Well, long story short I put my foot down the night before and said I'd go but that was foul to totally change our plans and then commit me to going to dinner at a stranger's house on Thanksgiving Day. I don't feel that's the time to "introduce" new female friends, etc. He agreed. Then, later that night he tried everything in his power to start an argument with me. I didn't respond even though he said very hurtful things b/c at this point I wanted to know what was going on and I was determined to be there on Thanksgiving Day to see why he was acting so bizarre and crazy. Thanksgiving morn he woke up and told me sincerely that he knew he was acting crazy and "he could see how things look suspicious" but he also made it clear he was carrying on with his plans whether I felt comfortable with it or not. Well, we get to her house and it was surreal. She and her hubby were super-nice. They also knew all about me, and my BF had even told them when we met. He totally flipped his whole attitude and was very affectionate with me. He gave a fervent prayer for the meal and thanked God for me. Then, we went around the table listing our blessings and he again was carrying on about how blessed he was for his girlfriend, etc. His female friend was totally normal and appeared very happily married. She and her hubby were teasing him about getting married and he proudly boasts "Oh, I'll be marrying my sweetheart next year" etc. My BF seemed like a different person completely, fawning all on me when he had been so cruel about the whole dinner, and just how he went about it, acting shady and bizarre with no need. I explained to him how I felt, about how I didn't like how I was talked to or treated. He promised that it wouldn't happen again and that future plans would be made jointly. However, he also seemed to think Thanksgiving went just great! I've not brought this up to him again but I still remember how hurtful that was, and on a holiday no less. Now he's talking proposal. Would you continue to get over this and just be in love or do you see this as a major red flag? BTW he usually pulls something upsetting at the holidays, but nothing on this level. Thanks!-it appeared this wasn't a normal "friendship" but rather a crush b/c he's so sneaky and superprotective about it. If it's innocent wouldn't you be open and honest about it? -I asked him had they been intimate and he denied, saying that she was married when he met her and he wouldn't go there w a married woman. Well, I didn't think he would either but then again I was surprised that he would become so attached to another man's wife in the first place, hello! Not cool. -at dinner, I asked how they met and she and hubby launched into a romantic story. They've been married 10+ years. I watched my BF's face and he looked uncomf. hearing their "love story" -I pointed out that if he had a crush on her it was obviously not going to happen, b/c he was single for ten yrs b4 me and she didn't leave her hubby for him in all that time. Ok, I was mad. -I wonder if I was "used" for him to be around her. Are her hubby and I being played? Keep the advice coming, thanks! moreResolved Question: LDS Members, what do you think of my talk? Its very long.. haha..?
Good Morning Brothers and Sisters. I am very nervous but glad to be able to share my talk everyone here. My talk is all about tithes and offerings. When I was first assigned to be given this talk, I was really worried because I don’t know much about tithes and offerings. But I found out, sometimes we are given talks we don’t know much about. And why? Because the congregation aren’t the only ones who need to learn. Speakers need 2 learn as well. We learn when we prepare our talk & we want to give a talk that we were able to understand so that others can understand right? Haha.. Ok, I’ll get back to my talk now. First of all, What is the law of tithing? It is a commandment from the Lord—a plan whereby we give back to Him a small part of what He has given us. When we were baptized, we made a covenant to obey all of the Lord’s commandments. Each time we partake of the sacrament, we renew our promise to the Lord. Members give their tithing and a completed Tithing and Other Offerings slip to a member of the bishopric or branch presidency. If there is no organized ward or branch, tithing is given to the district, stake, or mission president. Records of all contributions are kept by priesthood brethren called as clerks. At the end of each year all members are asked to make a special appointment with the bishop or branch president. At this meeting, known as tithing settlement, we speak to him privately and review our contribution records. We have the opportunity to declare our status as tithe payers. If we do not live in an organized ward or branch, we meet with the district, stake, or mission president for tithing settlement. Obedience and honesty in paying tithing are necessary for obtaining a recommend from priesthood leaders to go to the temple. The payment of an honest tithe is an important commandment that all Latter-day Saints should keep. When we pay our tithes and offerings, we should do it willingly. At the end of each year, schedule a time for tithing settlement with your bishop. This is a meeting in which you review your contribution records and declare whether you have paid a full tithe. Obey the law of the fast by fasting once each month (if health permits), usually on the first Sunday of the month. A proper fast day observance includes not eating or drinking for two consecutive meals and giving a generous fast offering to help care for those in need. Begin and end your fast with prayer, asking for special help with a specific need. Elder Bernard Brockbank told back in the early seventies, how he was encouraged to obey the law of tithing: “A few years ago when my wife and I were involved with a young family, we were struggling to meet our financial needs, … and we were not honest in our payment of tithes and offerings. We were attending church and I thought that we loved the Lord, but one day my wife said to me, ‘Do you love God?’ and I answered, ‘Yes.’ “She said, ‘Do you love God as much as you love the grocer?’ “I replied, ‘I hope that I love him more than the grocer.’ “She said, ‘But you paid the grocer. Do you love God as much as the landlord? You paid him, didn’t you?’ She then said, ‘The first and great commandment is to love God, and you know we have not paid our tithing.’ “We repented and paid our tithes and offerings, and the Lord opened the windows of heaven and poured out blessings upon us. We consider it a great privilege to pay tithes and offerings to the Lord. “I would like to mention that when we were not honest with the Lord, we were disturbed and had difficulties and problems” The Lord promises spiritual and temporal blessings to those who are obedient to the law of tithing. The scriptures tell us in Malachi 3:10, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it” The law of tithing is an important commandment that you should obey throughout your life. A tithe is one-tenth of your income. Paying tithing shows your gratitude for all that God has given you. It is a way to help build God’s kingdom on earth. Tithing is used to build temples and meetinghouses, translate and publish the scriptures, provide Church materials to members, do missionary work, perform temple and family history work, and support seminaries and institutes. Your attitude is important in paying tithing. Pay it because you love the Lord and have faith in Him. Pay it willingly with a thankful heart. Pay it first, even when you think you don’t have enough money to meet your other needs. Doing so will help you overcome selfishness and be more receptive to the Spirit. When we pay our tithes and offerings, we should do it willingly. The scriptures tell us that we should give “not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver” Elder Boyd K. Packer told a story about two missi moreResolved Question: Prayer during staff meetings? What to do about this punk job?
Yes, I have two simultaneous questions and I do apologize, but I need extreme help! I've been working for this real estate company for three months now and I have to admit that I really hate it. The job itself is not a problem, it is the people that work there especially my two bosses (yes I have TWO!) who both own the company. My coworkers and bosses are very rude to people, impatient, they lie to people and get me to lie about things to save a buck, they talk about people behind their backs (I've heard them and seen them smile in the person's face later), and it seems as though my bosses are abusing their power. One of my bosses would ask me for my food and will even tell me I should give it to them because they are my boss. Both bosses are also perfectionists who seem to accuse me of doing everything wrong and give credit to my other coworkers for my work. I feel like I'm being picked on or bullied. Suck $#%# job huh? And no I'm not exaggerating this is actually going on! I dread waking up in the morning. :'-( My first question is about prayer during the staff meetings. We have two (useless) staff meetings a week and before the meeting starts all of my coworkers/bosses take turns saying a prayer out loud like you would before a meal. When it was my turn one day I refused to say a prayer and everyone seemed to catch an attitude. Yes I am a Christian and don't have a problem with prayer in general, but I refused to do it because I don't agree with how things are being run in the company and how people are being treated. Was I right to refuse to pray with them? And what should I do about these people and this job? I don't want to hear "just be glad you have a job" because I am blessed and I thank Him for my blessings. I just don't know how much more of this I can take.I forgot to mention that during praying I say my own prayer inside my head. The way it's being said just sound so superficial to me. moreResolved Question: Who is missing you on Thanksgiving?
So, the turkey or ham is cooked and the side dishes are all prepared. You've been baking for days or, perhaps, stopped at your favorite bakery for the just-have-to-get pumpkin or pecan pie. Your family and friends will gather together and you'll give thanks for what you have. But - what have you given in return? Today I will help feed your loved one who is in a convalescent center. He or she may have dementia and won't remember who I am from one minute to the next, but we'll chat about their memories. Your name will be mentioned many times. I'll hear about how you grew up or your loved one may say that they've got to get home to make your dinner. Their reality is as real to them as yours or mine, it's just on a different timeframe. Maybe your family member can no longer speak and can only follow with their eyes. Perhaps they can't even do that. But I can tell you that the sound of my voice and the touch of my hand brings them comfort. I'll brush their hair, wash their face and kiss their forehead. If I have time, I'll read the paper to them or sing a song. Tonight, after dinner, I'll change their clothes, wash their faces and help brush their teeth. You'll have finished your meal and will probably have your feet up, enjoying a traditional movie or a football game. So, please, give thanks for all that you have for you are truly blessed. While you're thinking about your blessings think about this. Who will be there to visit you, care for you and watch over you when you can no longer do for yourself? moreResolved Question: Is Tommorow Thanksgiving?

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. The year was 1731, on the feast day of Saint Michael. Our little monastery sat high atop Moss mountain hidden in the shadows of the pinsapo trees. Abbot Ledwich was saying the blessings over our evening meal which consisted of a slice of bread, wild rabbit and wine. We ate in silence contemplating our evening prayers, the only sound heard during mealtimes were that of clanking silver wear against the plates and the clearing of throats. When our meal was finished Abbot Ledwich rose from the head of the table and said a blessing on us in hopes of a good nights rest. The monk chosen to clear the table took his place in the corner of the room and waited for each man to leave, when the room was emptied he took the wooden dishes outside and scrubbed them in the stream waters. I said my good nights to the men of the monastery in silence with the bow of my head and walked as slowly as I could down the hallway to the room where the monks sleep. There was a small dirty window overlooking the valley, the sun setting ever so quietly behind the moss mountains with beams of orange and yellow swimming with such grace through hints of violet blue and grey. I can recount so many sunsets in my twenty five years of life but none as beautiful as this one, surely the Lord God is pleased with his servants who sleep in the protection of Pinsapo Monastery. In unison each man took his place next to his bed and said his evening prayers which consisted of the rosary, chaplets and other prayers. The next morning at 3am the Abbot rang his bell signaling to the monks to awaken and say their morning prayer, the monks and I got ourselves from our beds, organized our surroundings and walked into the dining hall for the morning meal of bread and fruit. After our morning meal an hour of meditation in the chapel and then mass. Abbot Ledwich conducted the mass and said his homily to the monks about how a greedy heart can grow even in the soul of someone who has very little, after his homily Ledwich said the monastery is going through some financial distress and that food portions will be cut dramatically the Monks Malmoy and Lyner must go hunting to fetch rabbit meat, we shall have no more meat from the markets for the remainder of the year for we shall eat only what we can kill NOTE: This is a "quiet" novel about the life of a young monk who finds something in the market one day and keeps it hidden in the hollow knot of a tree, he must keep his possession a secret from the brothers and especially the Abbot, throughout the story he is on a secret mission from God that turns the entire monastery upside down when dies of a mysterious illness, dont want to give away too much so TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK???? moreResolved Question: Meal Worms What Are They?

Read if u have time to spare?
Baihaqi reported on the authority of Salman Al-Farsi (Radhi Allah ‘Anh) that Prophet (’Alaihi Salat was-Salam) delivered a sermon on the last day of the month of Sha’ban. In it he (’Alaihi Salat was-Salam) said, “O People! The month of Allah (Ramadan) has come with its mercies, blessings and forgivenesses. Allah has decreed this month the best of all months. The days of this month are the best among the days and the nights are the best among the nights and the hours during Ramadan are the best among the hours. This is a month in which you have been invited by Him (to fast and pray). Allah has honoured you in it. In every breath you take is a reward of Allah, your sleep is worship, your good deeds are accepted and your invocations are answered. Therefore, you must invoke your Lord in all earnestness with hearts free from sin and evil, and pray that Allah may help you to keep fast, and to recite the Holy Qur’an. Indeed!, miserable is the one who is deprived of Allah’s forgiveness in this great month. While fasting remember the hunger and thirst on the Day of Judgement. Give alms to the poor and needy. Pay respect to your elders, have sympathy for your youngsters and be kind towards your relatives and kinsmen. Guard your tongue against unworthy words, and your eyes from scenes that are not worth seeing (forbidden) and your ears from sounds that should not be heard. Be kind to orphans so that if your children may become orphans they will also be treated with kindness. Do repent to Allah for your sins and supplicate with raised hands at the times of prayer as these are the best times, during which Allah Almighty looks at His servants with mercy. Allah Answers if they supplicate, Responds if they call, Grants if He is asked, and Accepts if they entreat. O people! you have made your conscience the slave of your desires. Make it free by invoking Allah for forgiveness. Your back may break from the heavy load of your sins, so prostrate yourself before Allah for long intervals, and make this load lighter. Understand fully that Allah has promised in His Honour and Majesty that, people who perform salat and sajda (prostration) will be guarded from Hell-fire on the Day of Judgement. O people!, if anyone amongst you arranges for iftar (meal at sunset) for any believer, Allah will reward him as if he had freed a slave, and Allah will forgive him his sins. A companion asked: “but not all of us have the means to do so” The Prophet (SAAWS) replied: Keep yourself away from Hell-fire though it may consist of half a date or even some water if you have nothing else. O people!, anyone who during this month cultivates good manners, will walk over the Sirat (bridge to Paradise) on the day when feet will tend to slip. For anyone who during this month eases the workload of his servants, Allah will make easy his accounting, and for anyone who doesn’t hurt others during this month, Allah will safeguard him from His Wrath on the Day of Judgement. Anyone who respects and treats an orphan with kindness during this month, Allah shall look at him with kindness on that Day. Anyone who treats his kinsmen well during this month, Allah will bestow His Mercy on him on that Day, while anyone who mistreats his kinsmen during this month, Allah will keep away from His Mercy. Whomever offers the recommended prayers during this month, Allah will save him from Hell, and whomever observes his obligations during this month, his reward will be seventy times the reward during other months. Whomever repeatedly invokes Allah’s blessings on me, Allah will keep his scale of good deeds heavy, while the scales of others will be tending to lightness. Whomever recites during this month an ayat (verse) of the Holy Qur’an, will get the reward of reciting the whole Qur’an in other months. O people!, the gates of Paradise remain open during this month. Pray to your Lord that they may not be closed for you. While the gates of Hell are closed, pray to your Lord that they never open for you. Satan has been chained, invoke your Lord not to let him dominate you.” Ali ibn Talib (RAA) said: “I asked, ‘O messenger of Allah, what are the best deeds during this month’?” ‘He replied: ‘O Abu-Hassan, the best of deeds during this month is to be far from what Allah has forbidden’.” moreResolved Question: God says that if we ask for blessings on our food He will take sickness away from us. Love-R-Convenience? U be the Judge?
I've been with this woman for over 3 years and I have fell completely out of love with her! Nothing she does excite me anymore! I have enjoyed mostly every little thing we did together during our first year of the relationship, mainly because she was doing her part as if we were married. Later in life... She begins to question me about my wild past as if she didn't know or if she has been talking to my ex-girlfriend. Bizarre as it seems, she already knew what kind of guy I was (at the time of our establishment) because I was living on a college campus and she was one of my main visitors, if I will... She was living with this guy for a few years and I was aware of it! She was well aware of the fact that I was 5 1/2 years younger than she and I also had "untamable" needs just as she did. We have been unlawfully married (it's all a fairytale/make-believe) and have told our friends and family that we've married in Vegas last year when we were out there. We were going to get married out there, but we weren't going to have enough money to made it back home- with the little money remaining. Months later, we began to see the truth! "I'm self-centered", "she's too controlling" "I need to man-up", "she's jealous of my blessings" "I'm a liar", "she's a street fanatic" ETC, ETC, ETC... Year 3 - - As of today [& most of last year], we barely had sex, a good meal, a clean home, and barely went to church. She sleeps the evenings away and basically gets up just around the time I would be getting ready to sleep and talk to her "girlfriends" until I give her that "what the hell is your problem" look. We don't share common interest, and one of us will have a displeased look and it will soon exchange faces. As a result of all this: We both are only human and I know that I have been playing "Georgy". "Kissing the girls and making them cry" So who's to say that she isn't doing the same? Remember, she was one of my main visitors in the past while she was in a relationship with another... So, are we trying to end this relationship or what? Is there any evident hope for a future together, or should we move on? Why?During the first week of June, we had an arguement which lead us to trying to work things out. I told her that I love her but I'm not in love with her anymore and she drowned herself with tears. She asked me to give her one month, and I did just that. Nothing changed! Her best friend visited us from "Cali" for 2-wks.(as a vacation). My girl was also on vacation, though I found out after the fact that she didn't go to work through questionning, on Monday and Tuesday. They went out Everyday & night, and I didn't say a word; thinking that she would realize that she was disappointing my exspectations and wasn't attempting to correct our communication flaws. This 2wk party occured just after the 1mo. notice. Therefore, I actully gave her 6wks! We had sex once maybe twice in the 1mo. time span, and "0" times in the last two weeks of their "party vacation". She cooked maybe 5-6 Xs during the total 6 wks. and really didn't buy food until her friend came to visit. I'm the "bread winner" & the man of the house that currently hold two J.O.Bs! What a wife, huh? An acting-wife I should say... Our ficticious anniversary was about 10 days ago. And guest what! We had a celebration with mostly her friends and had sex zero times that day. We took a nap earlier that day and I began to touch and rub on her. She acts as if she was tired (no movement & response). Are we grateful?
"Oww..." moans Amelia, holding her stomach. This expression was meant to indicate the ache in the 14-year-olds stomach, which was not caused by starvation or any physical blow, but due to overdosing of mum's delicious turkey for dinner.Even after stuffing her face with so much food, that her stomach could burst, still large pieces of the delicious meal was left. "No,mum!I'm not finishing that stuff!" With that said she picked her plate up and dumped it in the garbage can.Sounds familiar? No? Remember the last time you saw those striking converse shoes, and your parents refused to buy them? You made a face such that your life wasn't worth living. Did you give a thought to those children in pakistan, who have to climb barbed mountain slopes and walk on filthy ground barefeet? Probably not. Did you ever grumble about the dull colours of the walls in your room? They have no choice but to live in the dirty and battered tents in Swat. You complain about mum's last night's re-cooked gravy. They survive on hard bread alone... Rarely do we give a little of our precious time to these thoughts. The remorse lasts only a few seconds after the news flash on the tv is finished "Worst humanitarian crisis feared in Pakistan" and "Displaced Pakistanis crown camps as they flee fighting". Do you know what's going on there? In the sinister parts of Pakistan, where the taliban have taken over? You feel sorry for the homeless children, but have you ever imagined yourself in their shoes, imagined what the pain would be like? No? Not even once?....Today fear and terror reign in the beautiful valleys of Swat and Malakand. After destroying the peaceful valley of Swat, now terror is creeping downwards at steady speed and has now engulfed all the nine districts of Malakand Division. Encouraged by the victories of cautious crowd in the garb of the Taliban, the fundamentalist elements are harassing ordinary people in all parts of the region and beyond. Life is extremely difficuilt for these helpless inhabitants, and the government is not making it any easier. There is lack of food and water, but many more mouths to feed. The UNICEF has provided these oblivious children with book bags, with one or two books, but where are the teachers? And where are they supposed to go for schooling? Don't tell me you mean the large and hot camp which is already over-flowing with agitated children, clueless why they had to abandon the not great, but much more comfortable classes in their previous schools. Completely unaware? I dont think so...just yesterday i caught a 5-year-old girl telling the news reporter that they were confined in camps because their homes were bombed and blown up by wicked and frightening masked men.....Can you imagine the psyche of that little girl? For what reason, should she not think that this world is a very harsh and cruel place to be? What would be her plight when she was being crushed between dozens of restless people, running like crazy? Still many people wander, still looking for a ray of light, still having hope about a better future for them and their families. If they can think positively, placing their full trust in God, why not us? The whole point of this article is to make you realize that whenever you think you don't have enough of God's blessings, mull over the hardships that those people have to face, the tests they have to go through, and be appreciative of whatever you have got, from a cozy home to live in, down to the smallest of God's bounties. So whenever you supplicate to God, try not to forget those folks, who don't own even half of the gifts you posess, and are in a terrible condition, in very difficuilt phases of their lives. So think again.....are we grateful? moreResolved Question: ARE THERE WEIGHT LOSS PROTEIN SHAKES OUT THERE?

Priest knew of her dirty home and really didn’t want to go, but he felt obliged to as she was one of his regular parishioners. On arrival at the home his biggest fears were confirmed – the house was utterly disgustingly dirty. They chatted a while and then went into the dining room where dinner was duly served. The Priest was pleasantly amazed at just how clean the plates and cutlery were. He passed a compliment to the woman “These dishes are immaculately clean, how do you manage to get them so clean” “Oh,” the woman replied “I just use soap and water” The Priest gave blessings for the meal and ate it with enthusiasm. When they finished the woman took away the dirty plates into the kitchen. To the Priest’s shock he then heard the woman yell “Here Soap, Here Water” followed by a few loud wuffs.Edit Sorry folks, the first paragraph of the joke didn’t paste. The first paragraph should read:- After Sunday service one day, a woman who had a dirty and filthy home asked the Priest if he would like to come and visit for dinner. Yesterday I asked why Christians do not celebrate Passover feast which is remembered by them as the Last Supper. Several Christians informed me that they do celebrate Passover every time they have communion. Do Christians have no understanding of the meaning of the celebration of Passover. One of my good friends is a devout Christian. When we dined together last weekend she offered her thanks to God before the meal, noting that she was thankful we had so much in a world where many lack. I have traveled to many impoverished areas of Africa, South America and Asia, and feel it is inappropriate to be thankful that I have so much when others have so little. With my business, which is in South America, I give as much as possible to the poor of the surrounding community. I feel it is an embarrassment, a wrongdoing rather than a blessing that I have a comfortable life in a world where so many are so very needy. What is your take on this? moreResolved Question: If you were to stop and count your blessings, would your good out way your bad?
What do you consider blessings, do you count being able to breathe, waking up in the morning, having a meal to provide to your family, a job, transportation etc...Just want to say thanks to everyone for their answers. I am glad to see that everyone has been blessed and that the good things we count as blessings out weighed the bad or misfortune that comes our way. We sing a song in our choir called "Praise is what I do" and one verse I'd like to share says; Praise is what I do, when I want to be close to you, I've learned to worship you. Though my circumstance doesn't even stand a chance, my praise out weighs the bad. And I vow to praise you, through the good and the bad, I'll praise you, wether happy or sad; I'll praise you, in all that I go through, Because praise is what I do oo oo, And I owe it all to you. Sometimes, just thinking about where I could be....and where I stand right now, just fills my heart with Praise! God has been good to me : )Maars, You are so right, sometimes we don't thank God enough or just aren't thankful enough for how blessed we are, we get caught up in our troubles just like you said and we forget....or just don't realized how truly blessed we really are. I too need to have a repentent heart for sometimes being to "caught up" in the business of life to stop and say "Thank you Lord", I appreciate you meeting that need and I really have no reason to complain. can you search yourself and be honest? What garden or success are you keeping yourself from? What cause can you impact and own? What is the thing you are good at or know you should do but fear keeps you from it?? And No I am not talking about the fear of the Lord that is different that is a reverent fear. That is different than being scared although sure the balance of Love, reverence and the fear of the belt are also valid but again let us move past that into what I am asking…..being scared. Ok let me elaborate if that is ok :) God did not give us a spirit of fear. In all love and humility if I feel fear I head right towards it. (maybe that is why I found God lol) If I am in a situation where my flesh is burning NO don’t do it or oh don’t say that – people will look at you funny or call you name or say your stupid etc… I know that is my cue do it, say it, PRAY and own it even when I question as If I don’t understand something, someone or a point of view I will pick and ask until I do and people will sometimes be like dang don’t you get it but it doesn’t stop me from asking/inquireing etc…. I want to know I want to see and feel it from someone elses point of view from their understanding outside of me myself and I and from there I can build upon what I know and match it up with what is right and true and noble and just, Christ. Any way point being When your are scared to you stop cower and hide or press in press forward and go for it. As a Christian are you a warrior or rock? God did not give us a spirit of fear – Fear is what the enemy uses to control us to not act, to paralyze us. "A wise bird knows that a scarecrow is simply an advertisement." If a garden is fallow or filled with puny undesirable produce, the farmer doesn't need to set up a diversion. It is only when he has something good to protect that he guards it by placing his scarecrow to frighten the birds to KEEP OUT. A smart bird sees through the ruse and plunks himself down for a delicious meal. It's time we started to see the scarecrows that the devil has set up in our life. What garden does he want to keep us out of? He certainly doesn't want us to partake of God's richest blessings. Scripture tells us; "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy." (John 10:10) A scarecrow can't really do anything to stop the birds and the devil can't really do anything to stop us - if we are not afraid and see what is really going on. moreResolved Question: Is it conceited to thank God for blessings?

.: ARE WE READY ?! :. Assalam Alikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu ! So what’s the answer to the “frequently-asked-but-seldom-answered” question?! Coz’ Ramadan’s not “round-the-corner” anymore, its here !! “ Have we prepared enough? ” Yes?! MashaAllah ! according to the before-hand planning we see around us, we are forced to wonder : “Are people really ready for the blessed month ?! ” But…there’s one problem...Why are the before-hand planning just for food stuff ?! Exactly! This is what has occupied our minds, isn’t it? I’m not saying that we shouldn’t have before-hand planning for food, of course ! how e.lse are we planning to survive ?! We understand, that as humans, our physical-self ( body ) requires food .. But why ignore the need of our spiritual-self ( soul ) ?? Think of it like this, if we are off for a vacation. We plan every second of it, coz we don’t want to miss anything, Especially if its just once a year. Similarly we prepare and plan for other important occasions, parties, interviews, appointments etc. However, when it comes to our Islamic duties /obligations we do so little in advance. Take the month of Ramadan for example. Such a blessed month that no matter how much we plan, its never enough, but sadly for some reason we fee.l we can transform into great pious personalities over.night !? I.F we were to step back a moment and realize that this is the last Ramadan we will see in our lifetime, how would we spend it ??? How many people do we know, who aren’t around to see Ramadan this year ??!! Death we know can come to us at any time, yet we still remain so ignorant of the blessing of time given to us now by Allah the Almighty, to be utilized as He has prescribed . *.: Goals for this Ramadan :.* o Eat Suhoor: "Eat a pre-dawn meal for there are blessings in it."(Bukhari and Muslim) o Completing the recitation of the entire Qur’an (at least once): Formula: A standard Quran has around 600 pages. So we’ll have to read at least 4 pages after every fard prayer (the 5 obligatory prayers ) to complete the whole Quran in Ramadan (30 days) Time for Simple math : 5 x 4 = 20 20 x 30 = 600 How easy is that ? ! o Offering our 5 daily prayers .with more sincerity and concentration: For Starters - Learn the interpretation of Surah Al-Fatiha (Chapter one), and concentrate on the words while you recite them in prayer. * Ka'b b. 'Ujra reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: There are certain ejaculations, the repeaters of which or the performers of which at the end of every prayer will never be caused disappointment: SubhanAllah- " Glory be to Allah" thirty-three times, Alhamdolilah - " Praise be to Allah" thirty-three times, and Allahu Akbar - " Allah is most Great" thirty-four times. ( Muslim, Book 004, Number 1242 ) o Learn some prophetic duas (supplications), and make them a habit: Say this du'aa three times every morning and *ponder* its meaning: Juwairiya reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) came out from (her apartment) in the morning as she was busy in observing her dawn prayer in her place of worship. He came back in the forenoon and she was still sitting there. He (the Holy Prophet SAW) said to her: You have been in the same seat since I left you. She said: Yes. Thereupon Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) said: I recited four words three times after I left you and if these are to be weighed against what you have recited since morning these would outweigh them and (these words) are: " Hallowed be Allah and praise is due to Him according to the number of His creation and according to the pleasure of His Self and according to the weight of His Throne and according to the ink (used in recording) words (for His Praise)." (Muslim, Book 035, Number 6575) The du'aa in arabic:- . سُبْحـانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْـدِهِ عَدَدَ خَلْـقِه ، وَرِضـا نَفْسِـه ، وَزِنَـةَ عَـرْشِـه ، وَمِـدادَ كَلِمـاتِـه o Remembrance of Allah: As much as one can, keep Allah in your heart by doing Dhikr (Remembering Allah at all times). *Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "There are two phrases that are light on the tongue but heavy on the scale of rewards and are dear to (Allah) the Gracious One. These are, subhanallah wa bi-hamdihi (All Glory is to Allah and all Praise to Him),and subhanallah al-azim (Glorified is Allah, the Great).'' (Muslim, Bukhari, and Tirmidhi) Abu Hurairah also reported that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "I love repeating subhanallah, wal-hamdulillah, wa la-ilaha ill-Allah, wa-Allahu akbar (Glorified is Allah, all praise is due to Allah, and there is no God but Allah, Allah is the greatest) more than all that the sun shines upon.'' (Muslim and Tirmidhi) o And control of tongue in disagreement, anger and frustration. Early Ramadan Kareem and Mubarak to all my brothers and sisters! Peace be upon you, and may the mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you all. Amber K: Thanks for your answer! Well, a habit I would like to break is the internet and gossiping/lying/cheating and a habit I would like to form is lowering my gaze and memorizing the rest of the Quran. My favorite thing about Ramadan would be the Muslim gatherings, Taraweeh, feeling peace among everyone and seeing that people are putting their best efforts out in being better Muslims. For Suhoor, I'm going full Sunnah, three dates and water or milk/yogurt. Iftaar, I'll break my fast with three dates and a glass of water and have a small meal. It took me FOREVER!!...cuz I had to research it...and change all the hard confusing words that nobody knew the meanings to...so I had to change them to ones that I knew!! The Lord’s Supper By:Elly West Psalm 11:4 The Lord is in his holy Temple, the Lord's seat is in heaven; his eyes are watching and testing the children of men. The Lord’s Supper is something that we should all know and understand so that we will have a better understanding. We should remember that the teachings of the Bible must always take place over what man may write or say. God’s Word is truth and we must follow it to be pleasing to Him. Jesus was totally aware of all that had happened in past times since He was (from the beginning) had known that He would eventually give His Life for the sins of man. With His Understanding, He said that the Lord’s Supper was something that would be helpful to man in remembrance of His cross, suffering and death, as well as His resurrection. The Lord’s Supper has many names, the Lord’s table, communion, cup of blessing, and breaking of bread. In the early Churches it was also called “Eucharist,” meaning: giving of thanks. Almost every Christian celebrates the Lord’s Supper in some what of the same form. Beginning in the Early Church as a prayer or blessing over bread and wine with a common meal that followed the form of earlier Jewish blessings, it eventually evolved into a more modern way. Us Lutherans’ believe that the Body and Blood of Christ are “truly and substantially present in, with and under the forms” of the bread and wine. In the history of the Church no subject has been more productive over debate then the Lord’s Supper. There never has been any agreement in the understanding of its nature, or any likeness in the mode of celebrating it. Without considering the empty-headed questions which have been lately debated as to the posture in which men should take part in it; either mixed or unmixed wine should be served; or leavened or unleavened bread should be broken; the questions have been settled differently in every church. “He took the cup after supper, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink of it, all of you; this cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you for the forgiveness of sins. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”. “This do in remembrance of me,” had come to the ear of Luke from some disciple who was present. What did it really mean? It’s an affectionate expression. His body delivered us from ourselves so that we can live well and be productive for God. We cannot deliver ourselves. We cannot just decide to die to ourselves and live for God. Only by relying on the truth of His death, that our body of sin died with His body on the cross. (In Romans 6:6), In eating His body, we are declaring that “…one died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves. Through the cross of Christ, we have authority over ourselves and flesh and our sin. We might make mistakes, but we do not have to keep making the same mistake over and over again. Because of the cross, we have been crucified with Christ; we have been set free; we are free. 24who Himself bore our sins in His own BODY on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed. (1 Peter 2:24). The above scripture actually sums up the meaning of the bread of the Lord’s Supper. His body as referred to in the above scripture is represented by the bread. His body was delivered up to deliver us from sin so that we can live for Him. This scripture speaks of being set free from sin, not just forgiven for sin. The cup speaks of forgiveness for sin, but the message of the bread is one of us being set free from or delivered out of our sin through Christ’s death on the cross. A body is all about doing. The bread symbolizes His body. By eating His body through the bread of the Lord’s Supper, we are 1) eating our deliverance out of our selfishness and sin, and we are 2) eating the Lord’s will (righteousness, love). His body was delivered up for us to set us apart from sin. The Bible says that we are free people through the Lord’s death. His body sanctifies us (bread). His blood justifies us (cup). In the Lord’s Supper, the body and blood take on unique meanings. Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it and gave it to the disciples and told them to ‘take and eat; this is My Body.’ Jesus blessed or prayed over the bread before it was broken. This was symbolic of His body as being whole and unblemished as it was offered as a sacrifice upon the cross. It was a perfect sacrifice and would provide many benefits for His disciples of that day and future generations as well as beneficial to all of those that had been followers in the past times. Today we are to express our Father, through His Son, our thanks for the giving of His Son upon the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, prior to breaking the bread. This should help us to remember the sacrifice of Christ’s body as it was offered upon the cross. As He dealt with great suffering even so we today must be willing to suffer as His disciples. The breaking of the bread will strengthen us to be willing and prepared to undergo the suffering that may come into our lives as we live for Him. Jesus also took the cup and after having given thanks, gave it to His disciples and told them to drink of it, stating that it was to be done in remembrance of Him. REPENT of your sins... continually... BELIEVE and obey Jesus Christ by following Him... continually... Be BORN AGAIN through water BAPTISM and receive the Holy Spirit which will give you the power over sin. Just like in the Ten Commandments, if u notice that after ‘What does this mean?’ It always says that we should fear and love God. In the other 5 chief parts they say that but just in different words. We should fear and love God he is our Father. We hope that God will protect and guard us, just like it says In the Lord’s Prayer-Sixth Petition that we pray that God will guard and keep us so that the devil can’t hurt us. Jesus said that his disciples had to feed on him if they were to have eternal life. Those who believe in him must eat his flesh and drink his blood, symbolically of course. Most Lutheran Churches tend to practice open communion, inviting all who are baptized to participate. We should guard our minds and the thoughts that enter them in such a way as to allow us to remember Jesus as we partake of the Lord’s Supper. We may have difficulty in controlling what thoughts enter our minds but we can control it. This Lord’s Supper is something that we should all know and learn from God. All are invited to the Lord’s table who have been baptized in to the community of faith, are living at peace with God and with their brothers and sisters in the faith, and are willing to be liable to their congregation. I believe that anybody who was baptized under the community of faith should be invited to the Lord’s table. In the years after being confirmed, I will definitely have a better understanding of the Lord’s Supper. moreResolved Question: Did you make your Mother the Happiest Mother on Earth???What?//?

It is very common to hear people thank the Lord for a particular blessing bestowed upon them. When we have a meal we are supposed to thank God for the food. Lottery winners speak of the money as a blessing or the Lord answering their prayers. People thank God for getting into a college, etc. What is it that you think prevents God from blessing premature babies with something as simple as more life? What prevents God from blessing abused children and elderly people with safety from their abusers? Are the abusers/perpetrators praying to God to bring them a victim? What makes one person/child's prayer for toys or money more important than another's prayer for safety? To answer the person asking why I'm asking: Because I want to know. This reasoning seemed twisted and supremacist to me. I'm very curious and would prefer to ask in a forum than someone that may become irate or violent in person.OK. I was trying to keep this short, but...This question springs from the two guys that came to my door this morning (I believe they're LDS) trying to pray with me and get me to feel the Holy Spirit. I asked them this question and some Jehovah Witnesses about 2 years ago. They only give vague answers like: God loves everyone. OR. That's in the hands of God. Why cant they give a real answer? I didnt ask whose hands it was in. I want to know what makes one person's prayer for money more important than another's prayer for safety. What is the answer. Spouting rhetoric and cliches doesnt do it for me. moreTop Meal Blessings Links
