Open Question: What do you think about korean music? links added! Please look!?
I am doing this so people in America can understand that S. Korea isn't a communist country. It has actually some nice music and fashion. All those somewhat stupid kids who think korea is some poor 3rd world country, look at ur phones. Is it samsung and lg? Then you are holding a korean product. hyundai, kia are korean moters. This is a popular korean pop boy band. This is a phone comercial so its really colorful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eDkcioiTN4 This is a popular korean pop girl band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISEoXdHb4W4 Koreans like cute stuff and this is a korean cute girl group called girls generation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGbwL8kSpEk This guy is a korea's hearthrob for girls. http://thinkprogress.org/2010/03/04/texas-taliban/ An evangelical Christian hate group called “Repent Amarillo” is reportedly terrorizing the town of Amarillo, Texas. Repent fashions itself as a sort of militia and targets a wide range of community members they deem offensive to their theology: gays, liberal Christians, Muslims, environmentalists, breast cancer events that do not highlight abortion, Halloween, “spring break events,” and pornography shops. On its website, Repent has posted a “Warfare Map” of its enemies in town. ... According to a new exposé by the Texas Observer, Repent set out earlier this year to destroy a discreet club of swingers they discovered in town. On New Years eve, the harassment began, with Repent members, almost exclusively young men, showing up in military fatigues and bullhorns, blaring Christian music at the swingers’ club building. The swingers, made up of “regulars” of middle aged, working class couples, were then stalked at every following visit to the club. Repent not only took video of each member, but obtained the swingers’ license plates and dug through their trash, informing neighbors and coworkers of what was once private. http://www.repentamarillo.com/ moreResolved Question: Read This 2PM International Fans... & 2PM Korea Fans... BUT It's Gonna Be Long?
READ FIRST BEFORE RESUMING... I know that this is in the KOREA section BUT I think that I can find more fans here then in the other sections... So please answer with what you think BUT please no bashing on others & PLEASE be respectful of each others answer/thoughts on this Read this: http://www.allkpop.com/2010/03/major-hottest-fancafe-asks-for-international-fans-understanding Does anyone (International fans) else feel kind of insulted about this? Not with the article (... okay a little with the article) but mostly with the comments being made by BRAVEHEART. Especially on his comment "What’s pissing me off is when Non-Koreans try to talk as if they know everything about KPOP/culture. You guys talk as if you guys are Koreans and that whatever you guys say is right when you guys aren’t even Koreans. It’s like when someone who isn’t from your country would talk shit about your country’s artist/groups. To be honest, it’s kind of funny that you guys even would listen to Korean music. You guys dont even understand the language, etc. I get the vibe that you guys are Korean wannabes. But you guys are merely making a fool of yourselves." I mean I understand that WE international fans probably AREN'T Korean & probably don't understand Korean BUT that doesn't mean that we can't listen to Kpop & are Korean (Kpop) wannabes. It's the music that we like & the artists. We don't need a reason to say why we like listening to Kpop, Jpop, Cpop, and so on. It's like asking a foreigner why they like listening to American music when they don't understand English or why they like listening to Spanish music when they don't understand Spanish and so on. Sometimes we don't need a reason to why we like to listen to a certain type of music whether we understand it or not. It's just something that you feel a connection to if you get what I mean. Anyways yeah I was a little surprise to find out that there are problems going on with Korea & international fans. I didn't think that it was a big deal but I guess I can sort of understand. As an international fan I can see as to why SOME international fans blame Korean's fans with Jaebeom departure & termination. BUT yeah it's true that SOME international fans don't understand & YES there are a little bit of culture differences BUT that doesn't mean that it's right to call international fans a kpop wannabe BRAVEHEART. It's like the Wonder Girls, BoA, & Se7en that debuted in America & the American fans calling Koreans American wannabes... that wouldn't feel so good right? I'm not bashing on the Wonder Girls, BoA, or Se7en (I'm a fan of them actually) but I'm just using it as an example... But you get what I'm trying to say right? Anyways yeah I agree that Korea & international fans should just let things be and just chill down for a while because with all this going on & with Jaebeom's termination of his contract & with the anger towards 2PM... It's not going to end up so well. So I think that we should take a step back and relax. Yes we Korea & International fans probably don't understand each other with the culture differences. Yes we may have conflicts with each other. Yes we international fans may not be Korean and/or understand Korean. Just yes... BUT most of all YES I know that many of you want Jaebeom back... BUT please think of the other members of 2PM too. Yes some of you are angry at 2PM & at JYP. Yes Yes Yes... But understand that with all the anger toward 2PM & JYP... the ones hurting most are THEM! We may not get all the answer we want... But if the fans keep up with angry and negativity... There probably won't be 2PM anymore... So all the Korea & international fans... please set aside your differences and just... I don't know... just step back and let things flow for a while... let things cool down for a while... I know that I went from a one subject to another... & went from feeling insulted to just trying to keep peace between fans BUT I think that we fans whether we are Korea and/or international fans of 2PM... Regardless of our race, nationality, ethnicity, age, or whatever... I think that we can agree that we want Jaebeom back... but I think that Jaebeom made his decision so we should respect it... WE AS 2PM FANS should still support the remaining members because without them there won't be 2PM. & if the fans that are still angry at 2PM & JYP keeps this up... like I wrote before there probably won't be 2PM anymore... Isn't it better to have 2PM than none at all? Yes 2PM is supposed to be a 7 member group... BUT Jaebeom made his decision... So isn't it better to have 6 than none at all? I will say that I support in Jaebeom's decision to leave. If it's what he wants then okay... As long as he's happy & healthy than okay... Anyways now that I wrote a lot... What do you 2PM fans have to say about this matter & of what I wrote? I think that I will write some more but as for now I'm just thinking(Cont. on what I wrote since it was cut off...) I think that I will write some more but as for now I'm just thinking what's coming to my head right now... Oh and please state if you're an international fan or a Korea fan. & just write what your thoughts are... BUT please don't bash on each other... Oh & Korea fans if you write that international fans don't understand, etc... please explain why we don't understand besides the "you aren't Korean... You're a kpop wannabe..."... BUT please again no bashing & be respectful... & I personally want to know why you think international fans don't understand BUT please again PLEASE don't write what BRAVEHEART wrote & please just kindly tell us why...Oh & also I'm Asian BUT I am not Korean (if you're just wondering) & I enjoy listening to Kpop.@Shellster I think you misunderstood what I was wrote... The "BUT most of all YES I know that many of you want Jaebeom back... BUT please think of the other members of 2PM too. Yes some of you are angry at 2PM & at JYP. Yes Yes Yes... But understand that with all the anger toward 2PM & JYP... the ones hurting most are THEM!" is for both the Korea fans and international fans. So this is not directly towards the Korea fans but also the international fans because like I wrote "Regardless of our race, nationality, ethnicity, age, or whatever" we are fans of 2PM. & that's one thing that we all have in common. And yeah I guess I can kinda understand a little from the Korea fan's perceptive. moreResolved Question: As far as dance genres go, isn't Hip Hop the most creative?
I think Hip Hop dancing is the most creative dance style in the world. It explores every aspect of human movement, and does so in a way that doesn't detract from being entertaining. Like, generally speaking the subsets of Hip Hop dance are: Waving---Moving your body in a way that makes it a appear fluid Popping---Moving your body in a way that makes it appear as though it's a series of picture frames B-Boying--Spinning on your head, your arms, your hands, etc Tutting--Making a series of elaborate hand signs Krumping---Channeling raw emotion in movement that is not planned Floating---Moving your feet in a way that makes it look like your body is moving without extranoeus effort C walking---continuosly moving your feet in a series of shifts, glides, & points that makes it look as though you are not touching the ground You know, for a group that supposedly isn't very intelligent, African - Americans are HANDS DOWN the most artistically creative group in the world---espescially when it comes to music & dance (note: Jazz, Rock & Roll, Soul, Disco, Hip Hop, RnB, etc all originated in the Black community--which forms 10% of America, but creates 90% of it's genres of music) Hip Hop dance (example) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADg1ogBGjN0&feature=PlayList&p=085BCD447CA89A72&index=49 moreResolved Question: what was the civilian population's reaction to increased governement powers during ww1?

(first time)?
I took my first assignment today, and I signed up to sub at a computer's class. I wanted to be prepared, so I had Harry Wong's procedures, activities ready, play doh, copies, pencils a huge case full of things I could use in my head, stickers... you name it I had it. Showed up at the school 40 min. ahead, they just made "wait" and at the last minute I was subbing for the music teacher... needles to say I'm musically hopeless, can't hit a tune even if my life depended on it, threw Harry Wong through the window and went into survival mode, specially when 3 teachers walked by my classroom wishing me Good Luck with the 3rd grade class, my first class EVER... This was like the toughest group of the whole school and they had a reputation, and many kids were good but the bad ones were so bad that I couldn't even reward the good ones. Some kids were aggressive, violent nothing I've seen before because my own school experience was very different (catholic school, girls only, south america) so yes, I was naive and I walked in the room smiling and being nice, and I thought that I was not allowed to yell. To make the story short 5 minutes before the class ended I called for help because I did not want kids getting hurt. The class went out of control with the good kids asking me to call for help, and I felt defeated. The regular teacher came to take the kids back to her classroom and she said that If I "survided" that I would survive anything. After that, I had 1st grade and kinder classes running smoothly, But when the fifth graders came in I had another surprise: I was expecting "children" and this was a class with a "teenager attitude" I had no activities or anything age appropiate for them, and I was frustrated so I ended up babysitting and yelling, something I had promised to myself that would never happen. One of the fifth graders walked out of my class, out of the blue and I had to call again, to let them know that a student left the class... I did it for safety reasons. Any opinions are welcome. I feel my hands tight because I'm a sub and not a teacher, and don't want to be a cry baby but I don't think it's fair that they put me in a music class, for that I do feel the kids pain ( you don't want to hear me sing) and yes you can laugh, but I'm worried about the opinion that the school will have about me as a sub and how I can avoid that something like that happens again.Sorry about the spelling and grammar... I'm not thinking clearly... and English is not my first language. I will work on that. moreResolved Question: X Factor/ American Idol Scandal - Cheryl Cole?
To all Americanos: Do you know who Cheryl Cole is? You know, Simon Cowells lap-cat? Well if she's not then she soon will be, in Europe she's the (THE) woman of the moment. Everyone loves her, EVERYONE! Cheryl Cole is in the girl group Girls Aloud and she (is/was) a judge on The X Factor (she's been on the judging panel with a few years now, and since she joined EVERYONE'S been enchanted by her). I don't personally love her like everyone else, I'd rather do Angelina Jolie any day. I suppose its Cheryl's really high cheekbones that put me off. Or maybe her accent. So IS SHE HOT OR NOT in America? She will be soon anyway, with the new American series of The X Factor being launched and she's going to be a judge. Shes in America now, just so you know. One last thing- I URGE you not to watch those singing contests on T.V. like Idol and X Factor. Not because I just don't like them, but because of how seedy and corrupt they are. The contestants get treated like sh!.t on the shows and even if you win or lose, you get tied down with contracts. For example, very non-winning contestant is held under Simon Cowell's management for 3 MONTHS after. This means that all those job offers Jedward got for Disney and the BBC were pointless because Simon Cowell wouldn't let them take the jobs. Remember Lucy Jones? She had the same problem: she was offered a Hollywood film role but wasn't allowed by Cowell to take the job. Another thing is that if a contestant ever leaves the show (before they get booted off), then they legally have to pay Cowell a percent of their wages for the next God knows how many years. Simon Cowell is already worth 175.2 million, yet he want's to make average working class people give their precious earnings to make him even richer. It makes me sick how he's legally allowed to do this. The contestants have no idea what their getting themselves into, and their not even allowed to TALK about what goes on behind the scenes on the show. Not allowed to mention contracts or treatment or the truth or anything. One of the big warning signs came recently when a contestants X Factor contract was leaked to the Sun newpaper. On the contract there were HUNDREDS of clauses, one of them being that contestants wern't allowed to say anything bad about Cowell. Is that rediculous or what? He's doing all he can to make himself seem like an angel. People who watch the shows are clueless, but it's not their fault. So much effort is put into covering up the truth, how could anyone know? Formore information just Google "x factor contract" or "x factor controversy". A good place to start would be on Wikipedia, go to The X Factor (Series) page and go down to the Controversy/criticism section. The shows have also destoryed the music industry.@ Laci: People cought in unfair contracts can NOT make their own decisions, unfortinately. I understand where you're coming from, though.@ Jobbie: I agree with the talent shows, they're a disgrace. And sorry for presuming Cole (I think she's going back to Tweedy as her personal and stage name now) was the woman of the moment in the UK. In Ireland she is and I thought that since shes from U.K and works there that she'd be even more populat there.@ Chocolate Smurf: Eeerrrmmm, I'm not a fan of hers but even I have to admit, thats not the best image of her! Everything I said above: I didn't make it up, I got curious as to how none of the contestants had careers after the season ended (even the winners all fade away-it's the contracts). So I started reading and researching until BAM I found all of this information. And it's not just on The X Factor, on American Idol (and all the Idol franchise) is just as corrupt. Idol is fading fast. X Factor was created for the purpose of replacing Idol on ITV in the UK. And that was in 2003-4. The only reason Idol wasn't replaced sooner in America is because of a contract Sinom Cowell himself was under with Simon FULLER (creator of the Idol franchise). That contract meant that as long as Cowell was a judge on American Idol, he would not be legally allowed to have an American X Factor. Now that Cowell's leaving American Idol, he's first objective is to replace American Idol-contd¬It should be interesting to see how X Factor Vs. Idol plays out. I understand Idol has a massive fan base in the U.S. I think that after some time, X Factors ratings will steadily grow, and Idols will dwindle, for the following reasons: Cowell cleverly stayed on as an American Idol judge, so that he could grow some viewer loyalty. X factor has some differences with Idol. They being that X Factor allows groups to compete together (though groups will never win, it's a business thing), X Factor stages on screen arguements/accidents for entertainment reasons. X Factor purposefully places wacky/scandelous acts as contestants in order to create excitement (Jedward), X Factor is aired on the build up to Christmas so that it can benefit from the Christmas 'spirit' and people will watch the show for seasonal entertainment. Also, The X Factor winners debut single is released just in time to enter the running for the Christmas no. 1. It allways succeeds-contd¬It always succedes except for last years phenomenal 'Anti-X Factor' campaign online. In all I think X Factor will be the bane of Idol around the world. Though I may be proven wrong. I also hope that one day soon these shows will be exposed for what they really are: Corrupt, unfair, fixed, cruel and absolutely money driven. moreVoting Question: Americans- Is Cheryl Cole 'big' in America? The rap artists who talk about hoes, rims, & guns do NOT represent the entire genre. They are only the tip of the ice-berg in a genre of music that was rated, by National Geopgraphic, the most popular genre of music/dance in the world among youth http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2007/04/hip-hop-planet/mcbride-text.html Hip Hop is awesome for several reasons--it once again demonstates the creativity of African-Americans to innovate under brutal oppression (Hip Hp was created 10 years after the civil rights movement, when segregation & was still pretty much a law), like they have with Jazz, & Rock n Roll. Because of it's popularity & wide reach, it often serves as an instrument by which oppressed & underpriviledged people can communicate their trials & tribulations, and voice criticism against a system that maligns them. Hip Hop was not originally created to give sub-urban White teenagers something to bop their head to (White teenagers are the largest market for Hip Hop music) it was created to be used as a political tool to bring attention to Black plight in the African-American community Hip Hop has also served as means to acheive a degree of racial tolerance, by bringing people of different classes, creeds, & races together in mutual respect for artistic creativity. In some respects, espescially among youth, one can argue that Hip Hop has done just as much as Civil Rights marches & public condemnations of racism for race relations. For example, the Hip Hop dance group Jabbawockeez was ranked America's best Hip Hop dance crew a few years back, the group consisted on Blacks, Asians, & Hispanics & who all shared a love of Hip Hop dance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwDt-Xx3_PQ But, like I said, 50 cent is NOT real Hip Hop. Neither is Soulja Boi, or Lil John. For real Hip Hop listen to artists like Mos Def, Black Thought, Immortal Technique, & Common--artists whose works you will NEVER hear on the radio because they do not confine themselves to the stereotypiccal trash media executives like to pay rappers to rap about. The only mainstrem rapper, that i can think of, that comes close to doing real Hip Hop is Kanye West moreResolved Question: R&P: Remember the Rollins Interview I Promised?

So, here I am posting a raw transcript of my interview with Henry Rollins which is yet to be pulished in a couple of weeks. If you see your question answered, pat yourself on the back :) Interview with Henry Rollins: February 2, 3:42 p.m. Mountain Time Q: Lenny Bruce, Brother Theodore, George Carlin: Did any of these outspoken performers play any influential role in your spoken-word technique or philosphy? A: Bruce and Carlin certainly have given me a lot of courage. When you consider what Bruce got shut down for, he is a true child of the First Ammendment. Carlin made me understand the power of words and I always admired how long he stayed working. I know that I will have not nearly the span of Carlin but people like him, Lenny Bruce and Brother Theodore are so rare. Q: At what age did you discover your "wayward/insubordinate" self? When did you probably start questioning authoritative society (e.g. Orwell's "Animal Farm" is what did it for me in fifth grade) ... A: The aforementioned as well as The Clash, The Sex Pistols and my friend Ian MacKaye made me see things differently. I guess all of that started happening in my early teen years. Q: Do you think Pop Culture has dumbed down our nation? A: If it has, it can't be a new phenomenon. Pop music has been with us for decades. I think that corporate media has done Americans a great disservice in that they have deprived America with any consistent degree of transparency. I think we are not as religiously fundamental as other nations in spite of all the attempts to make us so. Q: It's every liberal's dream to tell Ann Coulter to "shut the fuck up". I recall once, in your "Letters From Henry" portion of The Henry Rollins show, you directed a letter to her; how gratifying was that? Ever get a response? A: It didn't do anything for me, really. Ms. Coulter is just a professional wrestler who has not nearly the fan base that many would think. I have never heard from her. I think at one point, Fox News barked at me but no one really watches Fox. Q: I have heard stories that you and Ian MacKaye met while working at a Hagen Daaz? Is this true? If so, how old were you both? What's one of the earliest memories that crosses your mind? A: I met Ian behind his mother's house while riding my bike. This was many years before I was working at the ice cream place. I have known Ian since I was about 12 or 13. I am 49 now. Ian is the first person of my age group that had his own opinion that I was aware of. I was nothing like that. Q: You are both credited with sparking the "straight edge" movement, so how did you feel about singing songs like "Six Pack" and "TV Party" during your time in Black Flag, even though you don't drink alcohol or engage in that sort of behavior?" A: I had nothing to do with straight edge really. The songs you mention are parodies as the lyrics make obviously clear. Q: "Eye Scream" was probably my favorite of the books that I've read, that you wrote. There was something very "beat". Did any of the City Lights Books roster of writers influence you? A: I tried to read Burroughs and could never complete a book. The Beats never grabbed me besides Ginsberg's Howl, which I thought was incredible. The thing I wrote in Eye Scream called Everything, is a tribute to Howl. Q: Being a publisher yourself, have you ever had the chance to get to know Lawrence Ferlinghetti? A: No. Q: Jello Biafra, even Hunter S. Thompson, who followed a somewhat punk ethic, attempted politics. Is it within the realm of possibility for you to ever consider, maybe down the line, running for some sort of office to change things directly (or would that go against the grain of what you stand for?) A: I have not the intellect or stamina to get any traction in that arena. I like being a private citizen, it gives me a lot of lattitude. Q: When you played the role of AJ Weston in the FX television series "Sons of Anarchy", did you have to "empathize" to a certain degree with the white supremist's character to play the part convincingly? Did it ever disgust you? A: No. It's just work and I do it the best I can. I know that I am acting and that at the end of the day, I get in my car and leave the set. Q: Do you mind getting killed off in most of the movie roles you do? Any upcoming movie roles? A: I don't mind at all. I am grateful for the work. I work for a living. I am not an artist. Q: Details magazine named you Man of the Year in 1994. Did you hesitate to accept this title? Or was it an honor? A: It wasn't a title they give out yearly, it was just something they put on the cover. I was happy for the coverage and hoped it would help my band.holy crap! haha. it's only a matter of time before its pulled .... forgot about the Ann Coulter expletive LOL Thanks everyone for your inputHey Shades, maybe we ought to re-post this on R&S, and we'll get some foaming-a-the-mouth responses over his Fox News remark. LOL Thanks sookieLOL hey Beatle, looks like we're both geriatrics. I'm a highscool student, a freshman, and I know I have my remaining three and a half years left to go, but I want other peoples views and opinions and options I'll have in the future. I won't beat around the bush:) I would love in the world to become an artist, an opra singer (I sang in our local messiah) a pianist, a fricken writer, and the least I want, but most realistiaclly am going to have, is becoming something like a nurse. I know I am going to take all the mandatory classes in order to go to school for something like that, because chances are, I'll go far far far into debt with all the other choices, and won't make enough to pay back, let alone keeping a family, owning a car, etc. but I have a very large passion for music and writing. I auditioned for a singing group, played piano for signups, and write pages and pages and pages of stories about zombies and doctors (haha). I allways tell people " oh, I'll be a singer when I grow up" but when I think of how many people reall make a living, and even then, are music teachers who teach stupid freshman like me, I say" I'll write a book" but then, I think of how tired I would get if I spent day after day after year of that, and not many people would I think would reading about all the little dead people who eat children I think "oh, maybe I'll just be an acompanist to somone else" but I cant (and chances are never will from my bad attention span) read music. And really, as much as I love art, I tjhink the farthest I would go, would be to be a manga artist, and america completely and irrevecably SHUNS manga. So what about going into the medical field? I think of learning all the parts of the human body, and cleaning up wounds and helping surgeries, learning medicines;I wouldn't hate these things, I actually like thibnking about it sometimes, and the call of persons for this area of expertise is incredably high. I only really started thinking about it when I went to a field trip to holy rosary. I want to have this option on my back up plan, I'm on the honor roll, FFA, friday singing group, and if I keep up my grades, I know this option will be open for me with wide arms. but even though I think of all this, I think of absolutely everything I'll miss not having the other carrers, i want to know what other people dwho would actually take the time to listen to me and take what I say seriously with out a brush off to tell me what they think. moreResolved Question: Amusement park or Grandma's?

Radio taisō radio physical exercises; Japanese refers to the warm-up exercises popular in Japan, along with the music broadcast on public NHK radio early in the morning. It became popular in Japan just after World War II by the government and is still used among students and workers in companies to help raise morale and form group unity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNTKdQjVZ2A This is very socialistic but its a cost effective way to stem health care concerns, Would republicans dismiss it as government takeover or actually think its a good idea, since everyone in America is fat, obese and apparently cause their own poor health. moreResolved Question: Does english music hit the charts in america? Okay, i have come to realize that history is a topic that is impossible to talk to Whites about, for several reasons. 1) The vast majority of history books are written by Whites, and are not intended to accurately chronicle the who's, whats', where's, how's, & why's of the world at any given period in time, they are intended to make Whites the center of the universe, inflate their egos, and distort, downplay, or exclude the accomplishments of others. That is why if you learn American history in school, you will never learn about the hundreds of Black American inventors that have contributed to innovation in the U.S. 2) Given the amount of political power that Whites have in the U.S., even if they KNOW that a group has made accomplishments, and cannot immediately distort them witht the use of "history" books, they will flat out deny it those accomplishments with a fervor that that defies logic For example, when i state that Black Americans are the creators of more genres of music that any other segment of America--Jazz, Rythm & Blues, Soul, Gospel, Funk, Disco, Hip Hop, Rock & Roll, etc, Whites, who provide no links, have the audacity to deny it, and associate those accomplishments with other groups even if they as long as they arent Black In short, if you are Black and a White person ever asks you what Blacks have contributed to the world, just walk away, because it is a conversation that you CANNOT win moreResolved Question: Can White racists please explain why they think America is a White country?
Culturally , American music, dance, and general entertainment are almost exlusively influenced , if not monopolized by Black Americans. Business wise, Jewish Americans control massive shares of U.S. wealth. Academically Asian Americans dominate over al other American groups. Latino, Asian, Black, Arab, Jewish Americans salute the American flag when they go abroad, and many die for the rights & priviledges you have the audacity to say are exclusively yours. What have White Americans ever done for America other than steal Native land, Exploit Black physical strength & artistic ability, exploit Jewish business savvy, exploit Asian academic work ethic, exploit Latino labour, and claim all Arabs are terrorists, even though many die in the middle east fighting those same Arabs that would blow America to pieces moreResolved Question: Japanese speech? part 2?
I need more help w/ Japanese speech! how to say... Japanese music is a little different from American Music. an idol group usually has 5 members around the age 20. Back in the 1960s and 70s, you really did have freedom in America. You had an arthouse counter culture, you had vocal groups, you had transcendental meditation, you had woodstock, you had the whole Age of Aquarious thing, you had acid rock, you had small family farms, you had active public participation in making things BETTER! This was Freedom! NOW that all industries have gone corporate, the music on the radio is influenced by big money, EVERY commercial is "Live better, save money, Walmart"...a company that awards cheap labor in China at the expense of American production. We live in a time now where, unlike the 1960s, the average American is NOT free to be anything but a slave of a corporation. (Well they are FREE, but the game is fixed and the odds are set 1 to 10 million that only big corporations can compete). This is not freedom. This is a game that fixed in favor of big corporations. I would be like saying to someone "you're free to jump as high as you want, nobody is stopping you. And then every big corporation has a plane so you can't win. What is happening to America? Everything creative that comes from the ordinary non-corporate American is disappearing. Even creative jobs are gone. There's nothing left of English and philosophy and the arts. Everything is managing people to make quick cash. This is the age we live in. Why are Conservatives satisfied with this? The only way we can change this is to have funding for the people.you also don't have free speech, not in the school yard, not in the workplace, not on Y!A (even in this America where we endorse free speech, if you disagree with the war in Iraq, you are told to leave the country) moreVoting Question: Are they Latino or not?
I went to Madrid last year and I was absolutely surprised at how big a deal they made it that they weren't latinos and that they were white Europeans not to be confused with the countries of Latin America or South & Central America(+Mexico). It was a really really big deal to lots of people. But then, when it came to music and stuff that was positive or cool, I would hear, "Well you know, in our Latino blood...", as if they were suddenly including themselves in this group that they hate for people to confuse them with. So are Spaniards Latino when Latino is good and European when Latino is negative or is their an absolute answer. Why is it so important? Because they made a big deal of it and I'd like to know which is true. moreResolved Question: Is the power of artistry severely underestimated?
By artistry i mean: Theatre Dance Music Poetry etc. I have always thought that art has a power that often transcends across cultures , classes, & creeds & unites peoples who would otherwise be divided. Micheal Jackson, through his music during the 1960's shattered glass ceilings for many artists and had people all over the world moving & grooving to "Billie Jean", "Beat it", & "Smooth Criminal" Styles of dance that are now associated with Hip Hop--popping & locking, waving, krumping, tutting, Housing, etc--have , along with the Hip Hop culture as a whole, reached a level of popularity around the world unprecedented for artforms created before it. Such that a Hip Hop internationals competition is held yearly in which street dancers from all arounf the world, Europe to Asia, Northern to South America, and even the middle East come to compete In movies, flicks like "Shcindlers List" (Holocaust), "The Color Purple" (Slavery), "Remember the Titans" (Jim Crow), Invictus (Apartheid) etc have been able to give audiences of different groups , at the very least, a more indepth understanding of the trials & tribulations faced by others Even the speech MLK gave the touched the hearts of even the most ardent segregationists was essentially a poem: " I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today! Being an Asian in America, its pretty easy to follow American media such as movies, bands, tv, etc...they are usually starring either black or white people, maybe a latino here and there. anyway. do you think if a movie starring only asians or a music group having only asian members in it, would be turned off and think "why is it just asians? that's too weird for me" the Harold and Kumar movie failed, but has become a hit among asians. i think a lot of nonasians were turned away because it was starring asian stars, if it were black or white actors, they probably would of watched it...I mean, I'm Asian, i watch and listen to things with no Asians in them..."Harold & Kumar did not fail." $18,225,165 is pretty below average. $30mil is just average. What do you mean there aren't succesful movies starred by asians? Just watch bruce lee, jackie chan, and jet li movies... Bruce lee, jackie chan, and jet li star in stereotypically asian roles (martial arts) Harold and Kumar broke out of that mold, but wasn't very successful...Nothing to do with "asians" Plus isn't Kumar Indian? I mean everyone race have its apples of hating someone because of skin color . NO offense, but how many trolls / or get a live white people ask racist comments. I don't know if it is one person doing this but if so ; come on. I mean not educating yourself and having fear about someone 's race produce hate. That's what I am seeing on Yahoo.. How many times within a day do you see stupid dum questions about black people. For insstance ,one blog was about what did blacks contribute to America. Ummmmm if that racist person took his time and realize that blacks contribiute more than just music and fashion to this country than its no hope for him. I mean at this very moment if your driving and walking somewhere or putting your shoes on thank a blacks because a black inventor created the soles for shoes . If you are driving and happen to stop at a light thank Garrett Augustus Morgant a black man ,because he invented it.Need a blood tranfusion um would not exist if i was not for Charles Drew . Do you like peanut butter thank Mr. Carver . I can keep going . But until people get out of their ignorant boxes and realize this courntry was NOT JUSTmade on the backs on the white men and realize it was the blood of Native Americans Blacks , Chinese , and other immigrants that been suppressed in this country made America. Its sad that they don't teach history in elementary were kids can learn about other cultures contributing to this country; you will be surprised what you will find. Hopefully racist groups will become the miniority in this country eventually and everyone reconize that we as American built this country , not just one race ( the white race)..@wint here we go . I am tired of this too I know there are racism at every end with every one but on here YAhoo if you notice majority is directed at blacks and if you read what I said you will reconize that. I don't understand how so many people can hate americans. They haven't even met me! How can they judge me? Are they just judging us because of our government? Don't they get that WE AREN'T IN CHARGE OF OUR GOVERNMENTS ACTIONS. Hate on the government if you want to but don't assume all of americans want to go bomb people and rule the world. I wouldn't hurt a fly! I just want the troops to come back and for everyone just to get along. No death and bombs and guns. And what's with all the stereotypes? Who the hell is going to america and going back just to spread dumb rumors? I went to France and a lot of people were rude but I'm not going to say EVERYONE in France is rude. I bet there are tons of nice people too in France as hard as it is to believe. It's just small minded and sterotypical to label a country like that. They call americans ignorant but aren't they living in ignorance by labeling a country because of rumors and the media? America is filled with diverse ethnic groups and a HUGE variety of beliefs and many people have many different political stand points.Stop pointing fingers at other people. It's unethical, rude, narrow-minded, and ignorant. I love every country and I think of everybody as equal so we should all just live in peace. Stop hating! Anyone else care to share their views on the subject? PS: If so many people hate americans why do they watch our movies? It's hypocritcal how people from other countries listen to american music and watch american films and read about american celebrities and yet they have the indecency to say they hate us. Have some ethics people. Besos y abrasos para todos! Peace and love! Ciao. :)The problem is that the politicians are nice in the beginning but in the end they turn out to be racist and screwed up. The really good people rarely get high positions in government. It's so sad. :(I KNOW THE US ISNT THE ONLY COUNTRY IN AMERICA. I'm hispanic! I'm from Nicaragua! It's just a phrase that sticks. Still living off their one hit, the risable 'Love Of Rock, Rock Of Love', the group win a reality show of has-been groups, and set off on a Spinal Tap-esque tour of America, complete with Ferrell being an ego maniac frontman, Carel the quiet, idiotic basist, Harrellson as the guitarist who thinks he is way better than he actually is, and Reilly as the straight-laced drummer. I didn't believe that death always happens in threes til June when we had at least 4 celebrities dead. So now who? The drummer with Avenged Sevenfold, a rising force in the heavy metal scene, died on Monday at his home in southern California, the group and authorities said. James Owen Sullivan, nicknamed "The Rev," appeared to have died of natural causes, Huntington Beach police Lt. John Domingo told the Orange County Register. He was 28. The Orange County Coroner's Office is investigating, the paper said. "It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan," the band said on its Web site. "Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother." Avenged Sevenfold, which Sullivan co-founded in 1999, hit No. 4 on the U.S. pop album chart in 2007 with its most recent album, a self-titled release that went on to ship more than 500,000 copies, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. Sullivan contributed "A Little Piece of Heaven," a tongue-in-cheek, eight-minute paean to necrophilia and mass murder. The band shot an appropriately gruesome videoclip. In recent years, Avenged Sevenfold tried to live down its reputation for debauchery. Sullivan, in particular, had raised eyebrows after a 2006 cover story in metal magazine Revolver described his penchant for cocaine and other drugs. Inspired by such bands as Iron Maiden, Metallica and Guns N' Roses, the quintet built its musical reputation through heavy touring. It played Ozzy Osbourne's annual Ozzfest tour in 2006, and co-headlined a national trek with Buckcherry in 2008 and 2009. It recently announced plans to record a third studio album for Warner Music Group Corp. Police say James Owen Sullivan, a drummer and backup vocalist for the Southern California band Avenged Sevenfold, has been found dead at his home in Southern California. Lt. John Domingo says the 28-year-old Sullivan, who went by the stage name The Rev, appears to have died of natural causes on Monday in Huntington Beach. The Orange County coroner's office is investigating the death. Avenged Sevenfold formed in Huntington Beach in 1999 and won Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2006. According to their MySpace page, the five-man metalcore band was working on their fifth album. The band released a statement Monday expressing their sadness and calling Sullivan "one of the world's best drummers," and "our best friend and brother." Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan Update : Avenged Sevenfold Drummer is Dead! On this recent news Avenged Sevenfold drummer , James Owen Sullivan at 28 was found dead. The authorities who investigate this issue about “The Rev” stated that Jimmy Sullivan was found dead and appeared to died in natural causes as Lt. John Domingo said of Huntington Beach. It’s been a long while to see good drummers in our time and it’s heartbreaking to know that young people died early. Currently police is looking further for more circumstances on the death of The Rev and they also looking for some drug abuses. Still we are very sad because of this news and RIP Jimmy Sullivan. Rest In Peace Jimmy Sullivan. May you have eternal peace. Rock heaven with that drum set of yours babe! moreResolved Question: Which of these is the best song of 2009?

I am totally sick of England it is boring everyone is the same complaining and being negative, the taxes are to high (because most people get disability allowance) and all the other law's are stupid. Car insurance is sky high compared to other countrys where it is cheap (for some one of 18years old to insure a car) the music taste is awful, and most people my age are chav's which are people who lack english grammar, claim off the goverment and socialise in big groups thinking there big. These are only some of the reasons why i want to leave. moreResolved Question: Is Miley Cyrus Honestly That Bad?
Shes a bad role model and negative influence, but honestly half of the teenager girls in America act, dress and dance, and take photos just like hers. But that still doesnt Justify anything since she is a celebrity she should try to watch herself and look out for her fans. She has proven that she can sing, look on youtube, go to search and type in 7 thing teen choice 2008, type in Fly on The wall Berlin, Fly on the wall on Dancing with the Stars, The Climb Kids Inaugural. She does has some decent performances. Her acting has been increasingly horribly lately, but her new movie The Last Song looks good. but i agree most of her fans are teen now so people really need to stop putting blame on the kids. but im not gonna lie. though she does occasionally have god performances her vocal still need work. if parents do happen to have a little kid at home make sure you know who they look up to and dont use your Tv as a babysitter. She tries to hard to act mature! I like her but she need some sense knocked into her or her fame wont last and she needs to start working on a real career! Dont you agree? Most of her younger fans have left, parent have stopped young kids from watching the show. And the young kids who do watch her show usually are like 5-10 yr olds, that age group doesnt much pay attention to the media, and usually those kids dont like her, they just like the show. HER DAD WAS A ONE HIT WONDER! He had one hit single, thats it!he was barely famous at all! and Miley had to audition for 2 years before she finally was cast on Hannah Montana and Miley wasnt even the first choose. They originally wanted Jordan McCoy or JoJo to play Hannah. Her dad was only cast at last minute because the role had never been filled and they knew Miley and her dad had close chemistry together. He wasnt cast until after Miley has already got her role. she's more famous than him now, can you honestly say her dad bought her fame? BTW its not wrong to have a tattoo or piercing at 17 if you have parent permission. She really isnt even the responsibility of Disney anymore as her music is no longer released under their sponsoring or label and as far as Disney is concerned unless its about the show they have nothing to do with Miley Dont you think if Disney cared at all they would have done something by now? I dont hate her at all, i just dont agree with her decisions Anyway, I want you to tell me what your opinion of Miley is. and get your research right before you say anything stupid please. I want serious answers. moreVoting Question: Where is this rap group from the DC area?
Back in 2003-2004, I went to college and became friends with somebody from Washington DC. We used to listen to a rap group named either Mandeen or Mandean or something very close to it. I can only remember one line from a song and it goes: "...I tossed half my sandwich, shit America's great..." My friend claimed to be friends with them and that they had no intentions to selling their music to a record label. They just simply enjoyed making their beats and flowing for the fun of it. I would LOVE to find them now. Anybody heard of them?Yes, they were explained to be very underground. They just printed their own cds and my friend happened to know them and had one. I kick myself all of the time for not copying the disc. I was simply hoping that somebody would have heard of them. Or maybe they decided to spread their name a bit more, I dunno. Thanks for any help, though! moreResolved Question: Help I'm now offically FRIENDLESS!?
OK, so I'm eleven and just finished my first term at High School. I moved through friendship groups a lot because my old best friend from primary school ditched me at the beginning of the year :(. The first two friends, we're soo weird and annoying. One of the girls wrote this in my Christmas card (presicelly): Hey _____, I know you hate my weirdness and all that jazz but I'm not too fond of you neither so listen to this weird phrase... I dance for the creepy mexican guy and I'm on Simone's yellow tv. I LOVE YOU AMERICA, From _____ ______ I mean, WTF! Anyway, my next three friends were OK at first. I actually liked them. I still like two of them. However one of them, the one I was closest too, got soooo annoying. All she would do was stand there and laugh whenever I said ANYTHING. I am quite a joker, but I'm not completely hilarious when I say "hi". She was also really mean, like she made me "spy on loners" (the people with no friends), so we could bully and laugh at them. So, I started hanging around with these two new friends. I only started hanging around with them last Friday. I was off Monday and Tuesday, then when I was back in school, we hung around. She was really nice, actually. I bought her a Christmas Present at the fayre on Wednesday, then she tried to blank me on Thursday. I still hung around with her, though. She told me that today was supposed to be her birthday, so I bought sweets for her. After receiving the sweets I spent ALL my pocket money on, she said "You know, my birthday's in May, I tricked you,", then left school without even a merry christmas. As I ditched my old friends for her, when I go back to school, I'll have no friends! What do I do about everything! Plus, people think I'm a freak for liking real rock/metal/indie music, as I hate pop/rap/RnB music, and emo stuff. What do I do? Thanks :D xYes, I live in England. moreResolved Question: Help! I was in my late teens living on the west side of Detroit during the explosion of the days of rage across America in the mid to late 60's. I was able to experience the many great groups of the times in concert via the Grande Ballroom, Eastown Theatre, Tar Tar Field, Rouge Park, Bell Island, and many other venues. One place was out in the area of Telegraph Road And Warren Avenue; a movie theatre that would have live bands on stage after midnight on the weekends. On one of those occasions that I attended the late night rock feast, I saw a band that went under the alleged name, "Saint Francis Duval"; a Jethro Tull cover band. What I have always wondered is did I see the cover band Saint Francis Duval, or was it actually Jethro Tull that was going under an assumed name to hide their identities while being a lesser venue? I mean that I swear that the band I was seeing was so exact in every way to the music I heard so many times, that it had me wondering ever since. What the looked like I don't recall or did I know either what Tull looked like, nor at the time would I have sought out proof either way, no, I was way to busy having the time of my life. Many groups have done this in the past, here in the midwest, the Rolling Stones have shown up in Chicago blues clubs under made up names. Would appreciate any input by those who were there during that period of time. Oh! How many of you remember WABX & CJOM which was the only true radical FM stations of those times, especially CJOM, that would air anything that was on the record, was played over the airways, including "Kick Out The Jams Motherf - - kers"! [Canada's free speech was way different than ours] What a great time those days were, and I find myself absolutely lost for words that would do all that happened justice when trying to explain to the youth of today. Power to the people! And to all my White Panther brothers & sisters, Happy Holidays! moreResolved Question: Has anyone else noticed this about Blacks?

Now, to really appreciate this guy you have to be a fan of dance. I say he is a genius, because in western culture, even though there are many different kinds of intelligence, the only 2 types that are recognized are scientific [mathematical/logical] & spatial [artistic] intelligence. Hence the reason Einstein & Micheal Angelo are referred to as geniuses, but Tiger woods, who is phenomemnal at golf, isn't. I live here in Honduras for the last year and see the name Jesus plastered everywhere, walls, buses, cars, everyone constantly asking me when I'm going to church, Evangelists gathering in big groups in gardens and praying out loud, Jehovah's and other Missionaries knocking on everyones door, christian music played all day long, many converstation and discussion of everyday events involve talking about God and his will. And yet I don't see anyone here really taking good care of animals. moreResolved Question: Why do I have girl troubles (pics included)?
I'm a senior in college, and I thought college would be a time when I'd have a lot of experiences in love and sex. Though it's not been completely celibate, I've had way less success than I anticipated. To date, the only thing I've gotten into is a 2-month long FWB thing during junior year. I've never had a girlfriend during college, though not through lack of trying (4 girls rejected me when I explicitly asked them out on dates, while a bunch more just kind of ignored me after a coffee date or two). There have been some girls who have liked me, but not a whole lot. So what am I like? I'm most well-known for being a very talented person. I'm a pianist (classical, jazz, pop, singing... I also just played piano in the pit for a musical), writer (won $1000 university prize for short fiction, wrote/directed a short play for student theatre, and wrote/directed a 30-min pilot for student TV station), cartoonist (graphics editor of school paper and weekly political cartoonist), and athlete (intramural soccer and hockey). My interests are diverse as well, ranging from politics to sports to video games to films to pop culture to literature. I'm the kind of guy who wants to talk about Jane Austen in one minute, then about MMA the next. Personality-wise, I've been described (mainly by girls) as aloof, mysterious, and as if there's more to me than meets the eye. I consider myself introverted and I like solitude more than the average person, but I am very good at being outgoing for short bursts of time if I want to. I love meeting new people, and have been told many times that I am a witty conversationalist. I am very introspective and have filled out 6 journals since I've come to college. Here are my pics that I've taken of myself recently: #1: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2776/4173914266_2db7befc34.jpg #2: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4040/4173158191_5fa0d0271c.jpg #3: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2502/4173158207_005665e3ae.jpg Stature wise, I'm 5'8" and about 145 lbs. I'm often told that I need to smile more, and that my neutral expression makes me seem sad, worried, or stoic. I'm not that insecure about my looks because I've been enough times that I'm pretty good-looking that I know that at the very least, I'm not a troll. I also don't think I'm boring, given my diverse array of talents and interests. What really makes me insecure though is that after more than 3 years of loneliness, I have to start wondering if my race has anything to do with it. As you can see from the pics, I'm Asian, and Asian guys have bad social standing in America. I always thought I could overcome it through looks and/or personality, but after a while, you just have to wonder. I HATE the notion of blaming my race for my troubles, but as I said, you start desperately searching for answers. The thing is, I have no racial preferences when it comes to girls. I am friends with people of all races and dislike ethnic cliques, particularly all-Asian cliques. I love Asian girls as much as any other kinds of girls, but many of them usually hang out in those ethnic cliques. And in my areas of interest (writing, theatre, music), there aren't many Asians. I'm used to being the only Asian in a group or classroom. Consequently, many girls that I'm interested tend to be non-Asian, which I can't help but think has been a big factor to my troubles. But even if that were the case, I refuse to be told I can't be with people who I want to be, and that I have to accept being a 2nd class citizen when it comes to matters of romance. I don't know, I've tried to stay strong during all this time, but every semester, I start anew with hope only to become bitterly disappointed at the end. I'm soon going to graduate with the likelihood of never had a meaningful relationship here. And I don't like to do hook-ups, not that I would've gotten with many girls if I did do them. So what do you think it is? My looks? My personality? My race? Or have I just been really unlucky? moreResolved Question: 10 points for answers?

I was just wondering if there were hip hop songs in other countries besides America on Youtube, and I couldn't stop laughing at all these videos of them trying to rap and sound all "gangsta"! For example this "Lady Sovereign" chick from the UK tries to be all blinged out and stuff and her music is soooo cooorrrny. Then I looked up hip hop music in Korea and it was just hilarious. some group named 2NE1 rapping in Korean, trying to act all "hardcore" and stuff! Why do they do this? I don't get it! It looks so corny and the music videos are SO poorly made! In fact in some parts of music videos I couldn't even laugh, because it just looked SOO AWKWARD! and hip hop is like PURE American music... Other countries trying to have their own hip hop is like a Chinese person trying to sing country music! It just sounds silly.. so why??
