Open Question: how do i deal with my mom?

my mom thinks she knows everything, and whats worse is she denies it every wayy she can and says i think i know everything. just now, she wanted me to open an emailattachmentt. i opened it for her and i put it on the desk top. she is very illiterate with computers and thinks that the desktop is any folder. she started screaming at me saying to put it on her "desktop" (which to her is the folder with her name on it) because what i do is apparently too complicated. i tried to explain to her that the desktop is the screen with all the icons and the background picture, then again she starts screaming that she knows better than me and is smarter. next i was watching a show about aircraft carriers, then she goes in and says, how do they so quickly, they must have powerful breaks on th wheels. i told her there is a steel cable that catches the plane, then once again she says "shut up, i am smarter than you and i know better, if it was a cable, it would snap". again, she was on the computer, and then one of those pop up adds that say you have a virus pops up. i tell her not to click it because then we will get a virus. she once again says she knows better, and clicks "remove on the add. soon, a virus warning shows up and puts porn on the desktop and crashes the computer. she thinks that i was on the internet too long and it got us the virus. lastly, the one thing that pissed me off the most was when i was looking through my papers, she saw an old algebra II test that had a D. she went on that it was horrible (which i wasn't in the mood to listen too), and she says that the formula Y=MX+B is supposed to be from what she says-y is equal to m times positive b. when i went on my daily jog, she decided to come with me. i told her to where her running shoes but she wore flip flops which on a jog is a bad idea. i told her not to do that, but then she started screaming and again she says she knows better. when we jogged 2 minutes from the house, she got VERY tired, and said i somehow messed her up. finally she thinks im anti social. i dint like to talk to her friends children because they are total snobs, stuck up, or just annoying. i have way more friends than she assumes i have but she of course doesn't believe me. As for my dad, I NEVER have a problem with him. in fact, i think hes the best dad anyone can ask for. hes funny, he doe sent put people down like my mom, and he always supports me in what i do. one time i wanted to try out for sports, my dad said go for it, my mom says, "but your slow and very dumb. you don't use common sense and you could get hurt" so she didn't let me go. i spend more time with my dad because he is nothing like my mom and my mom thinks that because i am exactly like my dad it is a bad thing. Sadly however, my dad is in the navy and is often gone for a LONG time. One time i wanted to take this girl i liked to my high school's ring dance. My dad was glad that i found a date and didn't care what she looked like. my mom preferred i didn't go with her because she was not filipino. what do i do? more

my windows 7 hp laptop is currently doing a full virus scan with Microsoft security essentials and the hard drive usage or whatever is at the high 70's!!! is that supposed to happen? the RAM is at the low 20%'s. the other thing is at 78%, l don't know the name of it. the microsoft security essentials scan bar isn't moving either, but its scanning things, its almost done but its not moving now!! l'm so scared if its going to make my laptop overheat and not work! l'm a total noob to computers but l just need to know if a high Hard Drive usage is common with full scans?? please help me!!! more

Open Question: MY bitdefender is unable to delete a virus because its in an archive?

i've tried numerous times to get rid of these viruses, i tried malwarebytes and spybot they got rid of these viruses but they always show up when i run bitdefender (both in safemode and normal mode) I've even tried system restore 3 times already. What i've noticed is sometimes my desktop icons and start menu/task bar dissapear..so i run it in safe mode and everythings fine. idk what to do. heres my log file from bitdefender: Please dont say bitdefender sucks blahblahblah. can someone please tell me some step by step advice to get rid of this. i've also tried searching google for the answer but no luck... Open Question: What would you do about this ?

I ran an AVG full scan yesterday - the free edition and it found 1 infection. the name of the virus is JS/Downloader.Agent It is now in the virus vault and i am not sure whether it has been healed and moved or just moved. I ran a full scan again today and it found 0 infections, so what conclusions should i draw from this. Do you think the computer should be alright now or do I need to get it professionally removed for £65 ? more

Open Question: Help! An email, with a link, is being sent to everyone in my contact list that I never sent!?

For a few weeks now, I have been getting these Mail Daemon. When I open it, it shows (and lists the email in Spam) it was sent from me to all the names (except two) from my contact list. I had not even logged into my account for 2 weeks and my inbox was filled with them with dates with in those two weeks! This is not my main email server on my computer, and that one has not been effected...just the yahoo mail, which is rarely used. The actual email being sent to my friends includes a "RX drug related" link, which I have never been on. I have wrote (using my other email address) to each of them apologizing for this email and telling them that it could be a virus and to delete it. I think some people have started to Block me from emails. My service provider email is not effected...so I don't think they can help me with this. Can someone please help or direct me to someone who can? Open Question: How to remove AV Security Suite virus?

[[I HAVE ALREADY REMOVED THE VIRUS OFF OF MY COMPUTER]] I'm just making this answer for others to see how to get rid of this virus. I somehow got the virus last night and I went online looking for guides to remove this virus. Most of the guides said to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to remove the virus. (Luckily I already have this program on the computer before I got the virus). SOLUTION A - If you had already downloaded Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware before you got the virus: 1. Go to your internet option by opening Internet Explorer and click on 'Tools' > 'Internet Options' > 'Connections' > 'LAN Settings' and tick 'Automatic Detect settings' and untick 'Use proxy server'. 2. Rename Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware on your desktop into some other names 3. Restart computer and go to Safe Mode with Network (To go to Safe mode, hold F8 at the part where you can choose boot or setup) (For Windows 7 and Vista, it's F8. For other windows, I'm not sure) 4. Open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 5. CHECK FOR UPDATES 6. Run a scan then remove virus when the scan is done. SOLUTION B - If you do not have Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware while you have the virus (but you do have another desktop or laptop): 1. Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware on a computer without virus and save it on a memory stick. 2. Get the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from the memory stick into the computer with virus. 3. Go through SOLUTION A -- The thing with this virus is that it blocks you from opening any programs (of course, this includes Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware), not even Task Management. That's why you have to go to Safe Mode and run the scan to remove this virus. Checking for updates on Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is important. I successfully got the virus removed AFTER I updated. Sorry if this is confusing or lack in information, all these above is just what I've learned :]P.S. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is free to download :] I'm not trying to advertise this program or whatsoever, I got a different virus last time and I used this program to remove it too (the virus where it directs to another site when you didn't click on that site). Hi, I'm looking for a good movie to watch that's based on the apocalypse or post-apocalypse. That sort of thing: everyone's turned into a zombie, there's a few survivors, they fight their way out etc. etc. Basically a movie that depicts the end of the human civilization as its main plot. An example of a movie with this premise is "I am Legend" starring Will Smith. A virus is released that turns all humans into sunlight-phobic zombies. Another example is "The Happening" starring Mark Whalberg, where the trees release a gas that makes all humans suicidal. I had a virus on my laptop so I backed up all my photos onto my usb pen. I rebooted my laptop and now it will only let me look at some of the files. Open Question: Old DOS game, can't think of the name, but it's bugging me?

Okay this is going to be weird. I thought I may as well try. I use to play this game when I was little on the computer. I'm sure it was played using DOS. I'm going to describe the game, and if someone could tell me what it's called, that would be so awesome. My memory is VERY hazy. In the game you could do a bunch of activities. I remember being able to drive a car, dodging deer and such things. Another one, you would go inside someone's body and fight viruses or something. One part of the game that's really prominent in my mind was that at some "checkpoints" or something, you would talk to these "judges" i think, and one of them was Elvis. I think you had to answer questions correctly or something. And depending on our progress or how well you've done, Elvis can get really fat and the game ends at that point I think. Open Question: Venture into trying to solve this IF YOU DARE!! (Long-term computer problem)?

Hey! So I’ve been having huge computer problems for the last 2 years and really need help because it’s driving me crazy! Well about two years ago my computer’s been restarting ALL the time without warning or anything. Then the Blue Screens of death begun showing up in its place about a year ago when I changed to settings to do so. I’ve now got a whole log book with all the errors and its addresses that have popped up. The most blue screens I’ve had in one day has been 24. Just to name a few off the top of my head: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL PFN_LIST_CORRUPT PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BAD_POOL_HEADER Sometimes they happen even when nothings running but my computers on, which is weird... And sometimes I don’t even get a specific code or address just the blue screen with the average “please restart blah blah blah...”. It’s become somewhat of a game guessing which blue screen will pop up next. I’ve rebooted the comp AT LEAST 7 times in the past year alone because of windows somehow losing files within the OS or just a jumble of problems... I even tried switching to Linux/Ubuntu in hope of a change but no dice. Recently I’ve noticed my browsers (I’ve tried 5 so far: Firefox, Opera, IE, Safari & Chrome) have been randomly crashing and sometimes restarting the comp makes the browser work better for a little bit but then it happens again. Then I use another browser other than my default and it works fine for a couple days. Then it happens again. Could this be related? I’ve done multiple virus scans, driver scanners, BIOS updates, etc and nothing works! I’ve got a feeling it has to do with the Hardware... maybe the video card? I can’t be sure. I’ve googled all the error codes but can’t find any reliable answers or any connection between all the errors whatsoever. My computer in general actually works VERY well and the startup is pretty quick too! It’s just the restarts and freezes that have made me lose countless essays, projects, and files.. PLEEAASSEE help!!! I’ve got an HP Pavillion a1120n desktop currently running Windows XP Home Edition and I’m way too poor to afford a new computer! I’m GREATLY appreciative to anyone who can help! Open Question: I think i have a computer virus?

I believe i have a computer virus and here are the symptoms 1.Volume panel doesn't pop up in button left corner after start up. 2.When in control panel (thumbnail view) the names of the folders arent listed. This all happened one day after downloading a game and installing it. Once that happened i noticed when i click on any item in the desktop, multiple items where selected. There were also random problems such as, not able to use system restore etc. So i deleted the program and restarted my pc. the computer came back on and everything was okay but i was still left with problem 1 and 2. pleeeaaase help me. more

Open Question: SecurityTool/AVG Virus...Methods of Removal Thus Far Ineffective?

So last night my computer came down the the Security Tool virus as well as a few other security programs that are opening. I frantically searched online for solutions, and here's what the situation is currently: - I am only able to open anything with .exe within the first 15 sec of start-up, after that it states its infected and won't let me open it (this includes msconfig, dos, everything) - I downloaded Malware Anti-Malware and scanned with that AND my Spybot Search and Destroy. Both found malware, I used both to delete what they found, restarted my computer, problem still exists. - I followed a video on YouTube on finding the Security Tool application within one's "application data" folder, proceeded to re-name it, and eventually deleted it...problem still persisted. (this was prior to using the malware software) - I attempted to reformat, but could neither achieve it via dos commands or going through My Computer. I have no idea what to do now. I'm thinking, if I can go fast enough, that I can do a system restore, but I'm not sure how effective that will be. Please PLEASE if anyone has ANY information or advice they feel could be helpful, please let me know. Thanks up front for anything you can offer. OH and also, so if this turns into something I can't fix on my own, does anyone have any recommendations of where I could take my computer to have it professionally looked at? Oh also, I might end up getting a new desktop, would it be alright to transfer video cards and memory from this infected computer to the new one? Or would all hardware be lost? more

I have a desktop PC running windows vista. Earlier today, Microsoft Outlook 2007 developed a problem, it said there was an error with outlook.pst, It said to use the special tool to fix but after looking and researching i found there was no such file on my computer. I tried to use some other software to recover the pst, and this worked, but it asked for A fee of 130 USD to save it so i cancelled. Then I got messages about a windows system stopping working, but everything looked normal. I ran a virus scan with AVG Free and left it to work. When I came back AVG had closed, windows 98 style task bar with black desktop with only a recycle bin shortcut. No showing another warning, spooler subs system app stopped working. Prob event name: BEX Application name: spoolsv.exe I am a bit out of my depth now. Have disconnected PC from internet and backing up important files to an external hard drive. Can anyone advise?? hi ....i have got a gateway ma7 mt6823b laptop running windows vista , which has limited connectivity when connected with my t.mobile dongle, the dongle connects to the t.mobile network but i cant browse the net with internet explorer or chrome. i can not connect with the Ethernet cable or wireless either. the dongle does work with my other laptop and pc which are both on windows xp !!!!..... has anybody got any ideas ??? when i start up google chrome the error message i get is error 105(net::err_name_not_resolved): the server could not be found..................... i dont no if it will help but i got givin the laptop because it had a virus which i couldnt get rid of so i did a system restore to the previous month which made the laptop work again, but im wondering if the virus has caused some permenent damage more

I have searched through more than 50 pages of You Tube videos of BON JOVI both individually with Jon and/or Richie and as an entire band, and I cannot find it. I had a lot of text, pics and videos scrapped from myspace profile (btw, caution on myspace.com there are lots of viruses!). Anyway, one was my favorite video of Bon Jovi (the whole band and their back up) playing an instrumental (not one of their covers or originals). They were playing the same chords and riffs over and over again, it was great, and Jon was introducing the entire band during the entire number and each one of them, when introduced, jammed to it. When it got to Richie, he was magnificent!!! A few days ago AVG found a file named sttobject.dll in my sysWOW64 sub-folder inside my WINDOWS folder. At first I was skeptical and believed AVG made a mistake. After research I found that other people encountered a virus in the same folder but everyone who did said they were using AVG. I believed AVG was just acting up and ignored the problem until now when I realized that my computer was lagging. I wondered hw because I was only on youtube. I checked my processes in task manager and noticed that something wasn't right on my way to re-scan my windows folder I realized that my hard-drive went for 151GB to 148.7GB. I had downloaded that day but I deleted everything and what assured me that something was wrong was that when I checked again it was even lower at 148.5GB. I immediately tried removing the file that was suspected of being the virus but every time I did my computer crashed and I had to restart. Please help my computer is now at 148.0GB and lowering. more

There's this one song that's not on itunes, so I went to listen to it on youtube right after I turned my computer on. The video loaded too fast (I literally had it on for just 10 seconds, but it had fastforwarded to 43 seconds), and I tried more than just one video. Same thing happened. So I decided to go on itunes, but none of my music will play. It says it's playing and has the little speaker icon next to the song name, but the bar at the top stays at zero seconds. I have no idea why this is - my sound was working fine earlier and I haven't gotten on since. Could it be a virus? I wouldn't think so. My sound card? Doesn't seem like it would be that either - it's not JUST the sound that's not working. I use firefox and have a dell inspiron 1525 with vista. Help would greatly appreciated! more
