moreResolved Question: Whatever happened to backwards compatibility?
The Playstation 2 was an awesome system...heck, it still is. One of the things that helped it take off so well in the beginning was 'backwards compatability'. For people new to the gaming scene, backwards compatability is when a new console can play the games from its last generation counterpart. The Playstation 2 could play all (well, okay...most) of your old Playstation games, which meant you could sell your old system, buy the new system, and already have a library of games. Without a doubt, this helped the Playstation rise to the top of the last generation of consoles.
When the new generation of consoles came out, it seemed like backwards compatibility was going to be a given for the new systems, which leads me to my question: Whatever happened to backwards compatibility?
Playstation completely dropped the ball on this, which is ironic seeing as it made their last console the best of the last generation, and even more annoying seeing as they originally had decent backwards compatibility. I've heard they dropped it because no one really cared. I can smell that bull$#%@ through my LAN; they just wanted to be cheap...which doesn't explain why they discontinued the software emulator.
Xbox didn't do much better; Why is the Backwards compatible list for the Xbox 360 never updated anymore? I want to play Voodoo Vince, Painkiller and Deus Ex 2, dang it!
The only company who didn't screw up in this regard was Nintendo; that's right, every gamecube game works in the Wii...almost (though four swords and Crystal chronicles don't work due to issues with the GBA link cables). Hell, the DS plays Advance games!
I know I'm just ranting and raving at this point, but I just can't help it; PS3 fanboys must be some of the most frustrated people in the gaming community! Think of some of the games that came out for the PS2 after the PS3; Okami, Rogue Galaxy, Persona 3 and 4, Manhunt 2...I could go on and on. If you bought a PS3 now and didn't have a PS2, you'd be missing out on some great games, which is even more annoying considering the high price of the PS3.
To reiterate, the question is: Whatever happened to backwards compatibility? My apologies for the length, and for putting it in the wrong category...I forgot to select 'video and online games' again after I edited.

moreResolved Question: Who would like OR Where can I trade my PSP and GBA SP for a Nintendo DS or DS Lite with R4 2GB or 4GB?
The PSP will not come with a battery, but it will come with a charger so it will be usable, a DEMO UMD, and a movie "Lords of Dogtown", the component allowing for online play is damaged BUT everything works perfectly, no memory card. Aswell, the GBA SP will not come with the charger, no games, it will include a starter kit (holding Case, two link cables, headphone attachment, screen magnifier, charging stand, covering, attachment for hand comfort.) All that for a DS or DS Lite with R4 2GB or 4GB (preferably 4GB).Plus i already have another PSP so i'm just trading an extra PSP and GBA SP for it.
moreResolved Question: Can I play multiplayer GBA games on my DS?
I have a Nintendo DS Lite, and I read the instruction booklet. There's nothing about this in it.
Ok, my Lite has no link cable port.
I know the DS Lite has wireless capabilities. The GBA doesn't. To play 2-player on the GBA, you need a link cable.
My question is: If I put a 2-player GBA game in my DS, will I be able to do 2-player wirelessly with another DS owner?
moreResolved Question: Trading Pokemon between Gold and Red using a GBA?
Ok, so I have A pokemon I want to trade from Red to Gold using the Time Capsule, and I've been attempting to do so with two Game Boy Advance SP's and a GBA Link Cable. Problem is, I get the message "your friend isn't ready" on my Gold version and shortly thereafter it says "the session timed out due to inactivity" on my Red Version. Now, I know it's possbile to trade between these cartridges; I've done ti before using a Game Boy classic (which I no longer have access to) and a Game Boy Pocket. So, what I want to know is, what's the problem? It's obviously reading the link cable, but it won't let me trade. Do I just have a bum cable, or is there something up with the GBA's? Any ideas would be appreciated. The Pokemon I'm attempting to trade has no generation 2 moves, so I know that's not the problem...

moreResolved Question: Can I use an SP and a GBA Link Cable to trade Pokemon from Red/Blue?
I looked this up and couldn't find a clear answer. Someone who asked this question had a close vote yes and no. And if I can't use a GBA Link Cable, can I still use a regular GB Link Cable with the SP? I have one somewhere, but the GBA Link Cable would me more convenient.
