Open Question: why is my hp/pc making that beeping noise?

I own a refurbished pc and monitor. The little pc box that holds up my monitor is an hp compaq. It did not come with a manual. Sometimes before I can get my pc to go on/open, two little red lights flash on/off and beep a lot. Near the two flashing red lights are these two symbols; a cylinder shaped object AND a lightbulb symbol. Sometimes I have to click the on/off button quite a bit or sometimes just holding it pressed in for a bit, seems to finally open this p.c. Am I doing something wrong or what? How do I prevent this beeping noise in the future AND how do I get my pc to turn on without all of these flashings and beepings. more

Open Question: Where can I find a dynamic keyboard?

I am enrolled in a high level Arabic class at a university, where we are required to write essays, which can be nearly impossible to do without an Arabic keyboard. I am curious if anybody knows where I can find a keyboard for a DESKTOP PC that has dynamic keys, or some sort of touchscreen keyboard possibly. I also work on Chinese and Russian quite often, as I do a lot of work as a translator. What I am on the verge of doing is getting a touch-screen monitor and just plugging it in a second screen, and installing a keyboard on it. But this seems like a horrible waste. I would much prefer something that has individual displays on each key, or a touch screen keyboard, like that which is available on the iPad or iPhone. more

i have just bought a new laptop and i have downloaded all of my steam games onto it, however i dont know how to transfer game saves like on saints row 2 and team fortress 2 from my old pc, i dont want to have to start again so i need to know how to transfer my saves and files. i have tried looking for the files but only a few of my steam games are in my documents like battlefield 2 and mass effect, can someone please tell me how to move all of my steam save files from one computer to another. thanks more

i have a MS-6712 atx mainboard,125GB harddrive, AGP fanless graphics card NVidia 6600 256Mb, 2X 256MB chipset, sitecom internet commection. vidio card, 4x usb port,and dvd rw.. now i know every one says get a new pc but i dont have alot of money as i am a student and ive built this one so ide like to keep what i have for the most part and get it running like a beast but i need help couse im at the point im unsere hat to do to get it going fast,, also it seems atm to be saying im using anywere from %25 to %100 of the cpu usage, but ive got %85 free space can someone help me solve my issues :)ive got enuf fans in it to gool me so thats not a problem ive got a 120mm,3x 80mm, 2x 60mm fans in itim not 100% on this but i think i have a msi agp 8X cpuforgot to mention im getting a 1Gb chipsetharddrive wont be an issue for me due to the fact im getting a 1Tb sata harddrive with a agp to sata converterwhat tipe of cpu would fit the main board? i can find the graphics card easy enuf. its the more knolge based stuff i need help with more

Open Question: How can I record high definition audio for YouTube videos?

I play the piano quite a bit and I'd like to put up some videos on YouTube showing me play. I've seen some great pianists on YouTube and I think I could contribute as well. My favorite YouTube pianists have stunning audio quality in their videos. But I can't get high quality sound at all. Obviously, my laptop web cam an microphone aren't going to record very well, but even when I use a camera with HD capabilities, the audio doesn't sound good. The video capture on the camera is good enough though. I have a microphone that came with my PC, but it's pretty old and made before HD was really available, plus it's only a stock microphone. My example of what I'm shooting for is something like this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2inhVMCI8g The audio is so clear and crisp (CD quality if not better). Mine always sounds muffled and far away, even if I'm recording right next to the piano. How do I solve this? No sarcastic comments please. Open Question: Can you install a regular sized video card into a slimline PC?

I have a slimline Gateway 2800 with a 300W power supply and a small-form-factor video card right now. If I simply left of the side of the computer, could I run a more powerful video card? I also suspect I'd have to somehow get a new power supply sitting somewhere else as well.I already have an ATI X1300 in there, but its not enough power to run Flight Sim. I have a Intel Quad-Core processor and 4GB DDR3 RAM. I'm thinking of just swapping to a different case so I can save money rather than build a new computer more

Open Question: Problem with Windows Computer, Mouse could not click?

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate, My mouse is Microsoft Wireless 5000. The situation now is that whenever i switch on my PC, i can click anything for around 3 seconds. After that period, either the taskbar, within an application [like web browser or such] could not be clicked. It seems to be clicking behind whatever i tried to click. Right click doesn't work too. If i want to click an application [Within it] i can CTRL - SHIFT - ESC and end 'explorer.exe' then the app can work. If i want to click within windows, i need to run 'explorer.exe' It's gotten really frustrating. Okay. i've checked. It isn't a driver problem It isn't because i've gotten a virus [reformatted the computer for at least four times] It isn't because the software isn't downloaded. The mouse still could not click certain things even on safe mode. Any advice will be helpful. i will try anything suggested. Please help.@elcaminojake heh. i pulled the trick on my friends too. But no. I just formatted my computer. so it's impossible for them to pull the trick on me. @Paul I only have Microsoft IntelliPoint and Google Update in my Startup items. @cj tried a couple of mouses. Open Question: I'm having troubles with an Intel graphics driver?

A little while ago, i restarted my computer and to my surprise everything was in 4bit colors at 640x480 resolution. Everything was running fine up until this point and i haven't had any problems like this all the time i've had the PC. I'm running Windows XP and my graphics controller is an Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller. I've tried updating the driver using Windows Update but it doesn't work, it says the install could not be completed. I've also tried downloading the driver from Intel's site, but that still doesn't work. I run the .EXE and everything is going fine up until it gets to the last file, then it gives me an error message: One or more files required for installation are either missing or corrupt. Setup will exit." Also, it should be noted that there is NOTHING in my driver folder in C:Windows/Driver/Intel. So, what the heck is going on? And I was thinking I should do a system restore, but can't that make you lose data or mess things up further?I'd already downloaded that driver and it still didn't work more

Open Question: My computer freezes after after operating it for some time.Thereafter it does not properly start.?

My PC troubles me lot by way of freezing after working for some time.Thereafter some times it can be again started , but after so many attempts. I am using windows 7 ultimate, in a core 2 duo processor with 2 GB RAM. On restarting the computer the yellow indicator light on the monitor turn blue when the monitor receives correct signals from the PC and it starts.But whenever the PC freezez the monitor indicator light turns yellow indicating there is no signals from the PC.The RAM was replaced but of no use. The trouble is still there.It seems there is some problem in reaching the signals from PC to the monitor. But it could not be found out correctly. After keeping the computer for some time and shaking the PC it again starts and may run for 2 to 3 days. Again suddenly it may freeze again. The issue seems an hardware issue rather than software as I am able to use all functions of the PC when it runs including internet etc. Can any body give me the possible cause and remedial measures?. I will be greatful. more
