How temperature affects the reaction rate when an Alka Seltzer tablet is dissolved in water Chemistry in the Real World Introduction: The term reaction rate refers to the rate of time taken to dissolve a substance in a solute. This rate can be affected by temperature; surface area and concentration other than these there are catalysts and inhibitors that also can affect this rate. In this experiment, temperature will be altered to change the reaction rate when dissolving half an Alka Seltzer tablet (Alka Seltzer is an effervescent antacid/pain reliever that contains aspirin, sodium bicarbonate and citric acid) in water. The particle model provides theory for this experiment, as changing the temperature will make the atoms move faster, which will affect the rate of reaction. The collision theory provides more specific theory and states “that the more collisions in a system, the more likely combinations of molecules will happen and the more likely the reaction will go faster.” With this being said collisions are affected in the same manner reaction rates are affected. Aim: To determine if changing the temperature of a solvent will affect the reaction rate between an Alka Seltzer tablet and water. Hypothesis: It is hypothesised that when the temperature of water is increased the reaction with Alka Seltzer will accelerate. Materials 1 Kettle • 50g Sodium Chloride 5 Alka Seltzer Tablets • 1 Ice Cream Bucket 3 test tubes • 1 large Beaker 1 test tube rack • 1 Measuring Cylinder Method Water is boiled in a kettle 20ml of boiling water is poured into a test tube, using a measuring cylinder The temperature of water is measured using a thermometer Half an Alka Seltzer tablet is placed into a test tube and time taken to dissolve is recorded Steps 1-4 is repeated twice (three times in total) 20ml of tap water is poured into a test tube, using a measuring cylinder The temperature of water is measured using a thermometer Half an Alka Seltzer tablet is placed into a test tube and time taken to dissolve is recorded Repeat steps 6-8 twice (three times in total) 60ml is poured into a beaker, and then beaker is placed into an ice cream bucket full of ice, salt and 3cm of water. Voting Question: I need some quick help with my airsoft gun!!?

It's an Echo 1 (JG) G36C, brand new. I just finished charging it and got everything ready, made sure there were no bb's clogged in the chamber or barrel, and then boom... This happens. The motor is working just fine, battery is connected and fully charged. It gives a nice pop but nothing comes out. I was only shooting on Semi-Auto and shot a few times and when nothing came out, I took the clip out and the 3 bb's fell out. So I inserted the rod just to make sure nothing was stuck in it, and one bb was, so I easily removed it. So I shoot.. again, it happened. But this time there were no bb's clogged in it. Only the couple bb's that I "shot" fell out. How exactly should the magazine be when I put it in the gun? I just loaded it up to the top with the dial on the bottom of the mag and made sure no bb's were outside of the stopper thing at the top of the clip. It seems to be something with the magazine and gun because that's where the bb's always fall from. I firmly attached the clip. It clicked and everything so I don't know what's up with it. so last year october 2009 sewer backup from my kitchen sinks and damaged my living floor(i owned the condo and is on first floor. all dirty water) so i talked to the manger and she showed me that on the contact corp don't over any damage above the group so i filed insurance and got my floor and carpet replaced. on March 24th 2010 i returned from work i was some sewer again and quickly i putted stoppers on and left message for the manger. she called me next day friday and told me she will have plumber comes in and take a look. when i got home all i saw is my floor pop up, kitchen is mess up. I was so pissed and asked security to call manger and she called me back and said when plumer open the pipe with water pressure sewer/water spread all over the place and of course she said on the contact corp will not cover it. but seriously nothing i can do or like call someone to complain? sewer backup and damaged my floor 2nd time within 4 months? sewer backup a little bit back in February this year she called a plumer did a power wash the pipes. so anyone can help me on this? and i dont put grease or food into sink alwas have strainer, i have been ever more careful after first time. and i alo very angry that manger didnt even give me a call whe this happend on firday, i have to find out when i got home from work. what a way to start weekend. any help is much appreciatedso what i want to know is is there a way for me to fight back to have corp to pay for the dmange this time because last time was only less than 4 moths ago. they power washed, they snaked lines. or am i just out of luck since it is in the contrack. more

I bought a very decent pop-up camper I was unzipping one of the windows which is plastic shielding. the zipper came off the track at the bottom. There is supposed to be two zippers but realized there is only one. At the bottom of zipper track there is nothing to stop it. I have Vista Home Premium, I no longer have an Active X drop down box! Even though in my settings Active X is enabled for Internet Explorer 7. My computer specs are 32 Bit Desktop Vista Home Premium. I figure there must be a problem with Internet Explorer 7 as it can't see most things anymore while using it and I can no longer install active X so I can't download and install programs I need to play games, like Java & Adobe Flash Player ( http://java.com and http://adobe.com ) when you click the icons that you want to install, you should get a Active X drop down box, without that drop down box you never get the pop up box that allows you to save the program or install it! So my question is this: How do I reinstall or repair Internet Explorer 7 with windows Vista? I have tried many things without success. I thought if I upgraded my browser to Internet Explorer 8 that would resolve my problem but it didn't, so I uninstalled 8. So I thought I could do a repair to Internet Explorer 7 using my Windows Vista DVD, like I use to with Windows XP, but there is no option for that while in Windows. So I used the Vista DVD to boot-up with, thinking I could repair it or repair the operating system from there, and that would fix my Internet Explorer 7 problems, but there isn't an option like that, like I had using Windows XP CD. My question is, is there a way around this problem without formatting and reinstalling everything? I have installed Firefox so I can at least do stuff on line, but I seek a fix for my Internet Explorer 7 problems in windows Vista. I have reset IE7 to all default settings without it fixing my problems. I have no pop-up stoppers installed, no toolbars, and I ran programs to delete all spyware and ran a full virus scan and don't have any of them issues going on. I just can't stop getting internet ads on my computer!! I tried everything i know t block the ads. For internet explorer 7, I went to the tools menu and went to pop-up blocking settings and set it to blocking every single ad. But then, it still doesn't block the advertisements. Instead, it only blocks the necessary pop-ups, like videos and hyperlinks. Then, I tried downloading free pop-up blockers like Pop-up Stopper from Panicware. However, it still doesn't block the advertisements. I also tried downloading the 30-day trial of Bitdefender Total Security 2009. I ran a deep system scan and i found about 130 viruses. I deleted all the viruses. However, it still doesn't stop the pop-up ads. So, I just deleted the program. I could just close the ads that pop up but the process that the ad invades the computer slows the computer down drastically. I really need some help. Is this a work of a virus? Is there a way to prevent pop-up ads? more

*I have not read any spoilers, if this ends up happening it is all a freak coincidence* Smack down opens up with A Rewind from John Xena versus the Big Show last week. Edge Is in the ring with the Cutting Edge set up. He tells the fans that he is not having just ONE guest tonight but two. And they are Former World Heavyweight Champion John Xena and the World's Largest Athlete, The Big Show. The Big Show comes out first with a mixed reaction from the crowd and then John Xena comes out with a huge pop from the audience. Edge begins to talk about the match last week between Show and Xena and how he was out there to make a save without even laying a hand on Xena. He then starts to say that if Xena gets distracted that easy then he will never be World Heavyweight champion again! John Cena begins to speak but then Big Show interrupts and tell's edge that he could of beat Cena without the help of Edge last week. Edge says that Cena had just hit the Attitude Adjustment and that there was no way Show would of kicked out. Before Show can reply again John Cena tells them both to shut up! He says that he would of had the win if it weren't for Edge and that Big Show was out cold before Edge came to his aid and then he also reminds edge about his rematch. Vickie Guerrero then walks out and tells all of them that they will all be involved in a match tonight, and that they will have a chance to get their hands on each other. Matt comes out to the ring with weapons in hand. He begins to beat up Jeff free handed and then goes to the weapons. At first Jeff is being a puppet but then he snaps and attacks Matt. He uses everything in site as a weapon. He finally reverses a twist of fate into an extreme leg drop and then places Matt on a table and hits a Swanton from a ladder for the win. Segment 4: We see Randy Orton talking with Legacy telling them to stay backstage until Orton gives the cue. Main Event 4 on 4 tag team match Match Starts off with HBK and Orton. Orton dominates early on until Shawn tags in Hunter. Hunter goes to work on Orton hitting him with left's and right's. Finally Orton reverses an attempted pedigree and gets a tag. The Match goes on with frequent tags on both sides. Towards the end it is Taker and Show exchanging punches and then Orton gets a tag as well as Cena. Cena starts to beat the hell out of Orton until Orton makes an odd sound and Legacy comes running out to the ring. They try to attack Cena but the rest of his team takes care of legacy. About a year and a half, i met a woman on facebook. She was a classmate of mine when we where in intermediate level school, we weren't much close just classmates that barely talked together. When I found her on facebook, I was working in a foreign country and we just chatted on the internet and sometimes stayed till the morning hours. I felt like I can tell her everything and I did, I even told her who I liked when we were in the same classes although it wasn't her. I told her many things and she did too that i felt sometimes like we're the same person. And if something happens to me, I tell her as soon as I'm thinking of it like I was telling myself. She even talked to me about stuff she was feeling regarding her boyfriend, they broke-up 3 months ago. And it kept going till i quit my job about 5 months ago and returned to my home-country where she lived in the same city as I did. Since then we just talked on the phone and chatted on the internet, and never met physically. But a problem grew with time, she was always on my mind. I have a vivid uncontrollable imagination, and when something passes my sight, hearing, or the mere thought of it I delve deep through a scenario of what might happen. So, weird things started to pop through my head: 1- Everytime I imagine myself with my future wife dancing, having sex, or just spending time she's always there, she's always the woman that I see myslef with. And everytime it happens, I shake my head to wake myself from these thoughts. 2- Everytime that I hear a song, I imagine myself singing it for her or dancing with her to the melodies of the song. 3- I don't smoke, drink, and I'm still a virgin. I've been out of a job for 5 months now, so I'm suffering of low self-esteem and poor confidence and deppression. So, now I'm always tempted to smoke, drink, or have sex just for the heck of it, just to do something that i always disciplined myself not to. I had a couple of cigarettes and then she popped in my head and I felt wrong for smoking, I felt like smoking would get me away from her. I never drank alcohol, cause everytime I try to just think about it she pops into my head and I feel wrong for doing it. I think the intentions were good, but not only did we screw it up we just came in at the wrong time. There's a REASON why almost the entirety of the world kept telling us not to go, but did we listen, no, and now were stuck there. See the point is that there was NOTHING THERE. There were no nukes, no WMDs, there werent even any terrorists. Osama Bin Laden was in Afghanistan and WE KNEW IT, we had him in our sights because he was hiding in the tunnels of a mountain range there, the UN was trying to go in, but because we pulled out and decided to waste our time in Iraq he got away and now god knows where he is... And then theres the point of was it even worth it... the death rate before the war was high because of Sadams killing of civilians, but now in the just 5 years after the war the death toll for civilians has been over a million... the point is that while Sadam might have been a cruel person, he was the only thing keeping the country together. Iraq was like a bottle, full of shi'ites and sunnis ready to tear each other to pieces, and Sadam was the stopper at the top. He was the only thing keeping the entire country from massacring itself in a bloody civil war. If he did that through violence and fear, so be it, because the consequences are far worse. And now we come it, pop the cork off, and dont bring nearly enough troops to keep it stoppered, and screw the whole thing up. We would have had to have brought around 300,000 to half a million troops to keep the country stable, but we only brought around 100,000 to 150,000 men and women over there. All because bush, 'thinking with his gut', though that the american troops were 'good enough'. Underestimation, not listening to what ANYONE was saying (the entire world though the idea was a bad one... we should have listened) led to a bad execution nonetheless, and for no real purpose. I think that not only could we have used the troops elsewhere (Darfur is MUCH worse off the Iraq was, the death toll is something like half a million per year, and they get hacked with MACHETES. Not to mention that Osama and all of alkaida was over in afghanistan), but the execution of the war was just a mess. What a waste... You people seem to think that they pose some threat to us. If we pull out now, they most certainly wont attack us, theyll start attacking themselves and starting a civil war. Iraqis did not orchestrate 9/11, they in fact had nothing to do with it. Alkaida did that, and they are not operating from Iraq. The taliban is working from somewhere in the vicinity of afghanistan.Obviously we support our troops, because it wasn't them who decided to go to Iraq, but I am talking about if we support the generals who sent them there. more

Resolved Question: What is the brown oily gunk in the inner part of my sink bowl?

I am replacing my countertop and faucets but keeping the same sinks. In removing the pop-up stopper and what I believe to be the locknut, I have found a good deal of brown oily gunk in between the exposed sink bowl and the inner bowl. (There is a space of air in between the two bowls and this is where the gunk is. See illustration.) The gunk is abundant and I'm not sure if it needs to be removed before replacing the faucet. It might be plumber's putty, but maybe not. These sinks have been in place for about 15 years. Do you think it is putty, or if not, what is it? Does it need to be removed? Resolved Question: How to fix a tub drain with a lever-that doesn't release water?

The shower holds the water in the tub. The lever system will not open and drain the water. In the past Iv'e used the plunger to lossen the mechanism, but this isn't working.
