1. What is rkill? I've run it before, but it doesn't seem to do much (in the short amount of time that it does it in). Is it a scam????? 2. Should I download rkill, along with Malmare, Spyware Doctor, AVG, Avira, and SuperAntiSpyware??? 3. Which of the above programs should I remove?? I read that you should only download one or two programs, or else this will create conflict somehow ? 4. Which programs should I download (that are free)? I need anti-malware/spyware programs. Thanks!************* OH SORRY, I MEANT MALWAREBYTES' ANTI-MALWARE.... NOT MALMARE! lol**** "You fail to mention what firewall you're using. Okay so I have A LOT of serious viruses and I'm accessing the internet in safe mode at the moment. I keep having error messages preventing me from using any of my programs. Which includes my Super Anti Spyware and Malware Bytes. I've always relied on these programs because they not only scan but they also remove all the infections on my computer. I've searched high and low and can't find any virus removal programs that will remove my viruses for free other than the ones I have that the virus won't let me access. I really don't want to re install my computer because I would lose everything. I actually have both installed on my laptop, but I don't think they're compatible and will have to remove one. I have traces of My Security Shield on my computer and need to reinstall Windows XP. I have ran every spyware and virus remover I can think of and can't remove the trace. Hi all, My problem and question is around this missing file m5289.sys A few weeks ago we incurred a trojan which we eventually eliminated through deleting the file and also using Norton Anti-virus, Spyware Search and Destroy and Malware Bytes to completely eliminate all traces. The computer continued alright for the next week with no problems until the computer locked up and crashed on the windows user accounts menu, in which i restarted the computer after passing the Windows XP screen it restarted and clearly failed to boot. Luckily when i first reformatted by drive years ago two drives were partitioned and the C:Drive no longer boots, but the other drive, i can't remember off the top of my head now something like E:Drive does. This drive has like 3gb memory so i'm pretty unable to do anything but get my important files off the C:Drive to put onto an external harddrive so they are safe. I decided i would reformat my drive and wipe it clear, i am using the MESH support recovery disc to do this, it all was working fine until when i restart my computer to continue the setup it then goes onto a blue screen continuing the set up until stopping at The file m5289.sys could not be found. Press any key to continue. And then the computer restarts after pressing the key, as it is unable to continue the set up I noticed this in another forum and it was to do with a Mesh computer back in 2008, i did ring MESH support however classic line sending me to somewhere in asia, offering no help but suggesting to remove my two memory drives in my computer and insert one then boot and then do this with the other. No idea where these are placed and i get the feeling this guy was trying to get rid of me and had not a bloody clue! Sorry for the long post, how can i obtain this M5289.sys file, or sort this problem so i can wipe clean my computer! Thank you Its appreciated! moreResolved Question: Why does my windows 7 laptop get bogged down by spyware every single day?

I recently went on a site the other day, after ignoring the warning from McAfee Site Advisor to proceed with extreme caution and a program either started downloading or downloaded it's self. The program was called Security Suite and posed as an anti-spyware tool to remove the 1000+ viruses it said I had on my computer. When this thing kept running it kept disabling everything, I tried task manager to exit the program but it had already disabled that. I also couldn't go on my Windows Security Centre or use Internet Explorer. It apparently scanned 1000's of my Pc's files in a matter of minutes and a list on the 'Virus' program pretty much looked like I had every virus, trojan, worm known to man. When I went to the log in screen a message popped up saying "log in.exe file has been infected" the same when I tried task manager. I decided to shut down my computer after everything else failed. I then switched it back on and everything seemed fine, no warnings or messages. So I decided to go back 5 days on my restore point just in case. No everything looks and is working fine. I was just wondering has anyone else downloaded this FAKE anti-virus program or came across it before? Here is a link from a website you can see an image and a description: http://news.loaris.com/security-suite-scam/ I am curious to find out if anyone's pc became totally useless or did they get it sorted. im 16 and i have had 3 computers. the 1st computer broke down from age when i was 10. My 2nd computer had gotten a spyware which was removed but got infected again with spyware a day later even through i had Norton Anti-virus on it, so my parents gave it away to my uncle. 2 years ago i brought a 3rd new computer (a HP with Windows Vista.) but a year later somehow even with Norton, it got infected with a virus that completely wipe out all the inner workings of my PC (i just turned it on one day and the screen just stayed blue, never loading.) so to have it fix, i had it sent to remove all its hardware and have my PC fitted and changed to Windows XP (T.T i loved having vista, XP sucks.) 4 months later it gets a virus again b/c the guy who fix it lied to me saying that he had install an anti-virus. so i took my computer to the geek squad at best buy to remove the virus and gotten Trend Micro Anti-Virus installed on it since norton failed me many times. the next day my anti-virus couldn't be activated with the serial number on its box so i go back to geek squad they tell me they have to reinstall it and if it doesn't work they have give me another anti-virus but it worked after calling the Trend company. 2 weeks later after bringing my computer home it gets infected again, i take it back to geek squad they tell me that Trend had a bad update so it had malfunctioned and they fix it again. 2 days later it gets infected again with a virus and they fix it again for free for the last time. so far i haven't gotten any viruses and hopefully it stays that way! what is the cause of my 3rd computer getting so many viruses? is it my anti-virus at fault? or do i just have real bad luck?I take good care of my computer. i dont download anything from untrusted sites. i always scan music files before i download them. i don't go on any X Sites. i only use or go on google, youtube, yahoo, msn hotmail, fanfiction, 4shared, deviantart, & yaoihaven. i quick scan everyday for everytime i log off the web and full scan at least 3 times a week and i always check security reports and update everyday. i only play 1 online game which is S4 league which i dont think i could get a virus from it since so many people from different nations love play it. moreResolved Question: Antimalware doctor virus? Help?
I got the Antimalware doctor virus on my computer from being stupid and going on a free movie website. (Tvshack. DO NOT GO THERE!) Anyway, for about a half hour things kept popping up so I shut my computer down completely. The next day I turned my computer on and did a repair for my computer and the pop-ups went away and everything went back to normal. After that I did a scan just to be safe to see if I still had the virus. It said I still have threats that were detected and my PC was at risk. Thanks> moreResolved Question: My other computer is infected with Antivirus2010?
Before you tell me to download Malwarebytes or any other spyware removal program, I already have done so. The problem here is that even after killing av2010 programs and svchost processes via task manager and msconfig, I still keep getting a countdown from the malware that shuts down the computer within a couple minutes, long before Malwarebytes can find and remove any malware in the system. If I open task manager, it shows up as "System Countdown" but when I click End Task, nothing happens and the countdown continues, only to shut down the system without me being able to make any progress. Is there anything I can do besides reformat the computer? If your answer tells me to download some general malware scan-and-remove tool, I will report you. You clearly did not read the whole question before giving a generic, copy/paste answer. What if I ran Windows in safe mode, then ran Malwarebytes? moreResolved Question: How do I remove Antimalware Doctor from my computer without downloading any other software?
"Antimalware Doctor is a rogue anti-spyware, a total scam that is distributed with a help of various malware like Trojans, spam e-mail attachments, fake online scanners and others. When inside the compromised machine, Antimalware Doctor modifies the system to start at once PC user logs in to Windows. It surprises its victim with fake system scanners which usually appear from nowhere and announce misleading information. Once running, it reports hundreds of infections “detected” and additionally will claim that they will be removed only after people first purchase the “full” its version." I've looked through hundreds of answers to other questions and tried so many methods of removing it. It wont let me restore my computer, it wont let me open 'add or remove programs', 'Malwarebytes Anti-Malware' doesnt find anything, neither can 'McAfee', it wont let me open 'task manager'. moreResolved Question: How can I get rid of the Live Security Suite malware?
I have 2 computers. One of them has that horrible malware called Live Security Suite. It says your computer is infected, at risk, etc. and you can't open a web page. And it keeps directing me to the site to purchase the fake anti-virus software while those annoying pop ups are going crazy on my screen saying I'm infected. I had the exact same thing get on this computer and I used Malwarebytes and it removed it just fine. I've not had another problem on this computer since then. But, on the other computer that just got this virus malwarebytes is not cleaning it off. It ran the scan the first time and found issues and said it fixed them, but, when I restart, it's obviously still there. When I ran a 2nd and 3rd scan both said the computer is clean...but it's not! I checked around and Spyware Doctor is recommended but, after going through the time consuming scan I found out that you have to purchase the product before they will clean your computer. So, does anyone know of any other FREE and reliable program so I can remove the malware from my other computer? Thanks to everyone. The /rkill thing really helped. It made it possible to install a better virus protection. Maelwarebytes never did clean off the security suite. The free version of spyware doctor got it though. But there is still something on there. I am running scans and PCProwler keeps coming up and another trojan virus (high threat). And nothing is getting it off. Spyware doc says it fixes it but, next scan, its back. The computer is not happy. moreResolved Question: Help! Can't remove this program/spyware from computer?

Windows XP black screen after loading screen?
Hi. I have a weird problem with Windows XP Pro. After Windows loading screen screen would just go black and green indicator light would start blinking as if my computer was on standby. After I restarted it Windows started normaly. Later, while playing MW2 I had low FPS so I did couple of scans of my system (used Spyware Doctor, Spybot Search & Destroy and Lavasoft Ad-Aware) and removed all treaths that I could find. However that didn't solve the problem. I'm becoming desperate because I have no idea what might have caused it and the fact that Windows loads normal after computer restart and only internet using games are slower than normal just makes things harder for me. I need help quick. Thanks in advance.EDIT: I forgot to mention that I can't ever go to safe mode. I keep pressing F8 all the time before windows starts loading but it just doesn't work. I'm afraid my computer might be dying =,(. And its not even 3 years old.EDIT 2: ever* => even*EDIT 3: I think I might have found out what is causing the problem but I'm not sure. I installed SensorsView, nice little program that monitors temperatures of computer components, speed of your fans and some other stuff. My HDD temp is 49 C! 2 weeks ago it was 30. Hope someone can help me; my games are running much slower than normal. Thanks again in advance.EDIT 4: Ok, I think I might have found out what is the problem. I removed my ATI drivers, turned off PC, turned it on again and Windows XP started normally. I repeated the process several times and Windows XP and encountered no problems. Than I installed manufacturers drivers again, turned on PC and same problem occured. I'm thinking my Sapphire 4850 may be faulty. I have it for 18 months allready. I'l prolly get it. But any further advices are welcome of course ;). Thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: Being Attacked by Security Suite virus?
I've done everything. Downloaded Spyware Doctor, Malwarebyte, Six types of Rkill, and Quad Registry Cleaner. I searched all over google and youtube. I followed http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-security-suite... Nothing! I try to use rkill before Security Suite had time to open but my Computer background freezes then the attack happens. I try clicking all the rkills at the same time... Still Nothing. Try using Spyware Doctor and Malwarebyte while the virus was attacking... Still blocked. I'm using safe mode now,,, Only way I can connect to the internet without firefox freezing and IE from Saying I don't have a connection. Thinking of reformatting my computer if this goes on any longer. Which means redownloading updates and patches for my games... So please, can someone help or at least give out some useful advice that I haven't heard? I also got attacked by a similar virus before called Anti-Malware Doctor. RKill and Malwarebyte finished it off quick... But Security Suite is a pain to get rid of since it blocks all the rkills. By the way, I already downloaded WiNlOgOn and uSeRiNiT... Those are the extra two rkills.Yes, I have tried using Malwarebyte, Spyware Doctor, and TDSSkiller in safemode. Malwarebyte got some other trogans and stuff before Security Suite got power. So did Spyware Doctor. But, none got rid of Security Suite. Now they say nothing in my computer. I ran TDSSkiller in safe mode but it didn't find anything either... I'm downloading exeHelper.com and exeHelper.scr now. I'm going to try to use rkill and keep the message saying it's infected. Thanks Bill M! After going Fist of the North Star on my mouse. (Google it if you don't understand what I mean) I rkill worked and I got Spyware docotor working! It found viruses and Trojans. So when it finishes, I should be clear. Gonna open up Megabyte too, just to be sure. (Spyware Doctor is the full version, so it can get rid of the viruses)Hrm, seems like Spyware Doctor didn't get rid of it when I restarted... A couple months ago my laptop got some kind of virus or spyware or something like that. I don't have any antivirus protection software, and was wondering if there is any way I can remove it for free. Everything works on my computer besides the internet. It won't let me connect. I have a PC, not mac, if that helps. Is it even possible to remove a virus without paying for the software? Please help! :( moreVoting Question: what is wrong with my computer?
okay so i've been having trouble with my laptop for abour 3-5 days now. im running vista, and up until now the laptop has been fast and running without any trouble. the problem started when i was getting messages saying "windows explorer has stopped working", followed by the explorer bar turning white, and the computer running very slowly for a few minutes. just today however i got a message along the lines of "host services for windows have stopped working" followed by the same white bar and the computer slowing down... i tried running a registry cleaner to see if that would resolve the problem, but with no luck. i also ran malwarebytes, which showed that my system was infected with "backdoor.bot". having removed the spyware, i thought i'd be out of the woods! i rebooted after running the virus scan, only to find the booting process taking much much longer than normal, and now the computer is extremely slow. can anyone offer any advice, or tell me what is wrong so i can fix the problem? i have considered reinstalling windows, but i dont want to do that until i have exhausted all my options... moreResolved Question: I need to get rid of my virus for free?

I went to add and remove programs and I'm getting a pop-up that says Security Warning Application cannot be executed. The file is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now? yes/no I click "no" and it pops up again I click "yes" and a browser comes up but the page won't load then there was another pop-up that said something about spyware and clearing the computer...I didn't want to click yes because I didn't know if I could trust that thing and I'd like to back up my stuff before and if it all has to be wiped out. Had that happen before and it sucks major. Normally i'd ask my brother but he's kinda mad at me right now so I won't tell you my life story, just tell me what to do?!?!downloaded hijackthis...it says do a system scan and save logfile do system scan only view list of backups open misc tools section open online hijackthis quick start none of the above, just start program which do I click?then i clicked fixed checked and it says the functionality of the system will degrade? and not to blindly fix things?? click yes anyway??? moreVoting Question: After virus, computer left with Windows Sidebar, System Restore, and Podcasting Issues?
So my computer had a virus/spyware/malware called "Anti-Vir" which prevented any .exe's from running, posing as Windows and trying to get me to buy the "Anti-Vir" software. I used Malwarebytes in safe mode to remove the virus and everything was running smoothly, save podcasts and Windows Sidebar Gadgets (only those that sync online for updates like WeatherBug and a news feed). They wouldn't update past July 30th, the date my pc became infected, so I tried a system restore to a date prior a couple of times, continually receiving an error that the system restore did not work. How do I go about fixing this, and getting my podcasts/gadgets back? Thanks moreResolved Question: Having problem with detecting & removing a spyware program?

For a while now, I've been getting random pop ups or I get redirected every time I click on a google link. I scanned with Super Anti Spyware, and Malware Bytes Anti Malware. However, only Spybot Search and Destroy was able to find it. I remove it, then it keeps reloading. If anyone knows a program that targets these kinds of virus's. Please tell, best answer gets 10 points. moreResolved Question: Random internet disconnections, and very slow download speeds?
Technical info: ASUS Model P50IJ/P8IJ series laptop Pentium (R) Dual Core T4400 @ 2.5GHz 4.00GB Ram 64bit Windows 7 Home Premium Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter Atheros AR9121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernetcontroller Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter Okay, the problem: This has been going on for about a month now, but I figured it was just my router. However, since the downstairs PC, and no other laptop in the house appears to be doing this... 1) Random connection loss. I will be playing a game, chatting, watching something, and all of a sudden it slows to a crawl, and then stops. If I watch my connection icon, it tells me I have five bars, suddenly drops to none, and restarts my connection. I can speed up the process if as soon as I see that my connections going down, I go to the list of available wireless options and disconnect my self, and then turn around and reconnect. My list of available connections does not change, all connections are still shown, including the one that I'm currently on that goes down. 2) Lately I've been getting VERY slow download speeds. I've run PingTest and SpeedTest, both of which rate me average to high (A little less than 3.5Down, with 38 Ping, and no packet loss), but if I say, try going to YouTube and watching a music video, or downloading something from Amazon, or saving an image from ICanHasCheeseburger to email a friend, my download speed suddenly decides to be anywhere from 30Kbs to 1Kbs or less. For a while I thought I was getting up to 900kbs, but on closer look, It was 900bits. I got better download speeds on DIAL UP. Once again, this only appears to be affecting MY laptop, no one computer in the house. 3) If I run the self diagnostics on my laptop, I will, perhaps 50% of the time receive a message telling me that my network cable is disconnected or damaged. I've only ever run this computer through wireless, so I have no idea why my network cable being unplugged or damaged would be an issue? I just tried running the diagnostic again and it couldn't find an issue. Part 2: What I've done to try and fix: Updated drivers (They're up to date and won't allow me to update). Reinstall FireFox (Even after I had the same issue on Internet Explorer, I gave it a try. No it didn't help) Up-To-Date Virus Scan: Clean (Comodo Anti-Virus) Up-To-Date Virus Scan: Clean (ImmuNet Protect) Up-To-Date Spyware Scan: 8 low-risk tracking bots, removed, scanned again and clean Reboots: Several times. Doesn't actually help. That's about the extent of my capabilities on a computer. I've done SOME research into my issue, and found people with similar problems, but haven't found my exact issue, so I'm hoping someone here can help me out. moreResolved Question: Help with antivir solution aftermath?
Foreword: I am in NO WAY a NOOB with computers, I am a slightly experienced programmer and can make a computer do what I want, when I want it (EXCEPT FOR THIS DAM VIRUS!) xD I somehow go the dreaded antivir solution virus, so I went into safe mode to find out how to get rid of it. I clicked on the spyware doctor website, and because I couldn't use the update on it after I downloaded, I used their tips for manual uninstall. Edited the registry, deleted the bogus keys, and cleaned up the virus executables, but that's not the half of it. It was fine for a little bit, but then a new administrator account with high-level permissions appeared. I created another account after logging on to the original admin (not the account I used regularly, which was the one I was infected from) and gave my new account admin permissions and removed them from the f*cked up one. Just to be safe I started in safe mode to see if it would work. It did, so I restarted and got on normally. I could get online and do things. Next time I turned it on, No account (Not even the virus-created one!!!) could play music (remote call procedure service unavailable) or install things, run anything from a cd or dvd, cut copy paste, or move files. It also said the memory was too full. I have 256 MB of SDRAM in my laptop (A dell latitude, by the way), so that's bull. I went on Task Manager and looked at the processes, and the PID on new processes I turned on started in the 1400's, so there's around 1200 that are running that I don't know about. I tried a clean install from my supposedly "activated" xp pro sp3 iso file that I torrented (not the smartest choice). Anyway, I don't know what to do, should I format the drive, and slave it to my desktop, then do a clean install that way, or try to burn the iso to a cd, and boot from it (that works w/o the key). What do I need to DO!?!I also cannot use the start menu at all moreVoting Question: Would a reformat remove functionality of a wifi switch?
I'm working on a clients computer and had to reformat it because it had been taken over by spyware/adware/etc. The reformat went just fine, and everything seems to be working normally accept for the fact that it can't see any wireless networks. I've tried flipping the switch on the front which I tested before the reformat, and it worked flawlessly. But now the only way I can connect to the internet is via ethernet. Any suggestions/help/etc.?My guess is with you guys, and that it is more likely within the drivers. How would I install the drivers though? Would it be located on the cd? Or do I need to go to device manager? What specifically? moreResolved Question: Need free anti-virus spyware?
