Resolved Question: Is it against copyright to read children's books to classes without permission?

My husband and I teach toddler music classes. We have a big tv on the wall that often displays lyrics and such for the moms while we teach the classes. What we'd actually like to do is scan the pages of a children's book, and read it to the children, while they watch the books pages blown up on the screen so that everyone can see. We're choosing books that have some rhyme to them and playing a drum while setting the words to rhythm. Are we violating any rules? Thanks. more

I normally hate it when people post their writing on Yahoo! Answers, mostly because 90% of the time it sucks. But I couldn't resist. It's inspired by my great aunt and uncle. I watched them dance to "You Make Me Feel So Young" at a weddingand I was completely blown away. I almost couldn't watch, it was like the connection between them was so strong and the moment shared between them was so private I felt like I was intruding. In this piece I tried to capture that. You Make Me Feel So Young - She smiled up at his aged and wrinkled face. Stroking it gently with her finger, she admired how he still had the same boyish look in his eyes he did forty years ago, the same excitement, the same twinkle that used to drive her crazy with both frustration and love. How had the time gone so fast? He took her fragile hands in his and kissed them gently. She flushed and a wave of butterflies fluttered through her stomach. How could he still make her feel like a foolish schoolgirl, after all these years? Without averting his gaze, he set the record on the gramaphone, and Sinatra's voice began to echo about the room, his notes striking fond memories of dancing and romance for the old couple. He placed his hands on her waist, and they shifted back and forth to the rhythm of the music. She silently admired how his hands seemed to fit so well on her waist, like she was clay. When she closed her eyes, she felt like she was sixteen and at her first dance. It was a time where at dances, music was provided by a live band, and the lyrics were only about true love - not sex and lust and other petty things. She remembered she had come alone, clad in her good penny loafers, Oxford-style shirt, and poodle-skirt; her mother had bought her nice new blue eye shadow for the occassion, and her bright red lipstick was shocking against her pale skin. She was standing in a corner by the drinks, watching the event, much too shy to work up the courage and ask someone to dance. Nearly all the boys were lined against the decorated walls, either too proud or too scared to dance. The only boy on the dance floor was <him>, and he looked completely in his element. For a moment she was angry; who did he think he was, just grabbing a lady like that? But those thoughts were plucked from her mind once she lost herself in the rhythm. They were dancing so enthusiastically that nearby dancers had to move out of the way to avoid getting injured. His bravery inspired other boys to do the same; pretty soon there was not a single person leaning on the walls, and everyone had a dance partner. "And even when I'm old and gray," He sang loudly, making her giggle and passerby stare, "I'll feel the way I do today, cause you - you make me feel so young..." He sang shamelessly and all she could do was laugh. He wasn't nearly as good a singer as he was a dancer, but he didn't seem to mind that one bit. And neither did she. I normally hate it when people post their writing on Yahoo! Answers, mostly because 90% of the time it sucks. But I couldn't resist. It's inspired by my great aunt and uncle. I watched them dance to "You Make Me Feel So Young" at a weddingand I was completely blown away. I almost couldn't watch, it was like the connection between them was so strong and the moment shared between them was so private I felt like I was intruding. In this piece I tried to capture that. You Make Me Feel So Young - She smiled up at his aged and wrinkled face. Stroking it gently with her finger, she admired how he still had the same boyish look in his eyes he did forty years ago, the same excitement, the same twinkle that used to drive her crazy with both frustration and love. How had the time gone so fast? He took her fragile hands in his and kissed them gently. She flushed and a wave of butterflies fluttered through her stomach. How could he still make her feel like a foolish schoolgirl, after all these years? Without averting his gaze, he set the record on the gramaphone, and Sinatra's voice began to echo about the room, his notes striking fond memories of dancing and romance for the old couple. He placed his hands on her waist, and they shifted back and forth to the rhythm of the music. She silently admired how his hands seemed to fit so well on her waist, like she was clay. When she closed her eyes, she felt like she was sixteen and at her first dance. It was a time where at dances, music was provided by a live band, and the lyrics were only about true love - not sex and lust and other petty things. She remembered she had come alone, clad in her good penny loafers, Oxford-style shirt, and poodle-skirt; her mother had bought her nice new blue eye shadow for the occassion, and her bright red lipstick was shocking against her pale skin. She was standing in a corner by the drinks, watching the event, much too shy to work up the courage and ask someone to dance. Nearly all the boys were lined against the decorated walls, either too proud or too scared to dance. The only boy on the dance floor was <him>, and he looked completely in his element. A boyish grin on his face, dancing with a different girl every song, looking victorious and proud. She silently wished he would notice her, too. And he did; he looked up at her mid-dance, and when their eyes met, a smirk spread across his lips like he just recognized someone he hadn't noticed before. He ran a hand over his jet black hair, and began to swagger over to her, leaving the girl he was once dancing with looking scandalized. Automatically she looked over her shoulder to see who was standing behind her, only to see the wooden walls. She whipped back around and he was standing in front of her, a hand outstretched. "Would you care to dance?" he asked politely. She opened and closed her mouth a few times, trying to find words. Boys like him didn't dance with girls like her; they just didn't, it wasn't how things worked. Before she could register anything else, he had caught her around the waist and was leading her over to the dance floor, where the band had started a new song, "You Make Me Feel So Young," by Frank Sinatra. For a moment she was angry; who did he think he was, just grabbing a lady like that? But those thoughts were plucked from her mind once she lost herself in the rhythm. They were dancing so...violently...that nearby dancers had to move out of the way to avoid getting injured. His bravery inspired other boys to do the same; pretty soon there was not a single person leaning on the walls, and everyone had a dance partner. "And even when I'm old and gray," He sang loudly, making her giggle and passerby stare, "I'll feel the way I do today, cause you - you make me feel so young..." He sang shamelessly and all she could do was laugh. He wasn't nearly as good a singer as he was a dancer, but he didn't seem to mind that one bit. And neither did she. When she opened her eyes again the song was coming to a close, and he was singing along quietly in his raspy voice. "You make me feel so young..." He sang and grinned broadly. She smiled back and shook her head, laughing. Then she leaned up on her tippy toes and pecked him on his withered cheek. "You do too, sweetheart." They left the record to play as they went to sleep.
