Just two days ago my computer went frozen after what I think is spyware installed on my computer. There was a little yellow shield at the lower right corner of the desktop screen so I clicked on it. It opened a window that told my my computer was infected and I needed to download a virus scanner. I closed the window right away. Then i shut down the computer and turned it back on and the computer was unresponsive once I entered my profile. The only thing that worked was the task manager. So I ended the explorer.exe process and my computer became responsive again. when i tried to start the process again everything went unresponsive. so I opened system restore through task manager and tried to restore it to another date but my computer wouldn't shut down. It just hung at "windows is shutting down" I had to manually shut it down so when i turned it back on the system restore didnt work. So either need a way to prevent my computer to hang while shutting down or a solution for the explorer.exe problem thanksok well all of your solutions involve safe mode which i have tried. but my computer just restarts. would it help if i turned off automatic restart on system failure? moreOpen Question: why doesnt malwarebytes open on safe mode?

My computer is a Sony Vaio running xp. If I try to access any software on-line like... Mcafee, Norton, Avira... you get the drift. I get a non-connection message. I finally managed to get a mcafee security scanner on the computer but when I try to open it I get a not connected to the internet message when I am connected and can access any site other than anti virus sites. Does anyone know what this is? I did get a CMC internet security 2010 site up and running but it does not see this problem or any other virus's. and yes. I have done all updates. I am getting frustrated and thinking of doing a full reformat of the hard drive and starting over. But I am lazy and really would rather not do all that work. Maybe remove the hard drive and connect it to another computer that is protected and has the best recommended antiviral program already installed. I live in Vietnam and the tech's here are not the best by any means. All hints or help will be much appreciated. moreResolved Question: How do I remove a tracking cookie completely?

I am a college student at Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Virginia and I am needing a laptop for college work and for gaming. I have considered getting an ASUS G73JH-A1 but the price ($1500 or so) made some people jittery, so I am now looking at HP to see if they have something comparable. I need a computer with the following specifications: Brand: HP, Asus or Dell OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Processor: Intel (either the i7-720QM 1.6Ghz/ with Turbo Boost or the i5 series Dual-Core processor with Turbo Boost; processor at LEAST 2.0 Ghz, but preferably 2.5 Ghz) RAM: 4 GB (preferably 8 GB) DDR3 (not DDR2) HDD (Hard Disk Drive capacity): 500 GB 7200RPM (preferably 1TB) GPU (Graphics Processing Unit/Graphics Card): ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5600, 5700, or 5800 series with 1GB dedicated memory Screen Size: 15.6” or 17.3” Resolution: 1920x1080 (full HD) or maybe 1600x900 (less pixels, but still HD) Webcam: 2 Megapixels Sound: HD Surround Sound by Sound Blaster, Creative Labs, or equivalent with spatial imaging sound (makes sounds feel like they move from place to place, as they would in reality) Wireless: 802.11n with Gigabit Ethernet capacity Keyboard: Standard backlit (or just standard) Optical Drive: 8X SuperMulti DVD-ROM Dual Layer Drive Battery Life: 3-4 hours Miscellaneous: Norton 360, Symantec Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware or comparable computer security suite; HP All-in-One printer, copier, scanner and fax; Wireless-N Gigabit router with MIMO capacity; Backpack or sleeve matching dimensions of laptop Price: under $1000 (or between $500-1000) As you can see, these are some pretty demanding specifications, much more so than the "average" computer. I am an above average person who feels it necessary to get a reward for a LOT of hard work and the computer that meets or exceeds those requirements is the epitome of my personality. I am an erudite person, but also an avid gamer that plays FPS (Call of Duty and Halo) and RTS (Act of War and World in Conflict) games, and these specs, I believe, are sufficient for that purpose. It doesn't matter which brand really, but preferably HP, Asus, or Dell. Thank you very much for helping me! moreOpen Question: Are Android applications on Mediafire.com generally virus free?

(Long-term computer problem)?
Hey! So I’ve been having huge computer problems for the last 2 years and really need help because it’s driving me crazy! Well about two years ago my computer’s been restarting ALL the time without warning or anything. Then the Blue Screens of death begun showing up in its place about a year ago when I changed to settings to do so. I’ve now got a whole log book with all the errors and its addresses that have popped up. The most blue screens I’ve had in one day has been 24. Just to name a few off the top of my head: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL PFN_LIST_CORRUPT PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BAD_POOL_HEADER Sometimes they happen even when nothings running but my computers on, which is weird... And sometimes I don’t even get a specific code or address just the blue screen with the average “please restart blah blah blah...”. It’s become somewhat of a game guessing which blue screen will pop up next. I’ve rebooted the comp AT LEAST 7 times in the past year alone because of windows somehow losing files within the OS or just a jumble of problems... I even tried switching to Linux/Ubuntu in hope of a change but no dice. Recently I’ve noticed my browsers (I’ve tried 5 so far: Firefox, Opera, IE, Safari & Chrome) have been randomly crashing and sometimes restarting the comp makes the browser work better for a little bit but then it happens again. Then I use another browser other than my default and it works fine for a couple days. Then it happens again. Could this be related? I’ve done multiple virus scans, driver scanners, BIOS updates, etc and nothing works! I’ve got a feeling it has to do with the Hardware... maybe the video card? I can’t be sure. I’ve googled all the error codes but can’t find any reliable answers or any connection between all the errors whatsoever. My computer in general actually works VERY well and the startup is pretty quick too! It’s just the restarts and freezes that have made me lose countless essays, projects, and files.. PLEEAASSEE help!!! I’ve got an HP Pavillion a1120n desktop currently running Windows XP Home Edition and I’m way too poor to afford a new computer! I’m GREATLY appreciative to anyone who can help! Thank you in advance! moreVoting Question: My computer has some scareware on it called "antivirlock" how do I get it off?

I'm trying to install the LG PC Suite for my phone KF350. It's worked before, but there was a time where I got a virus and I did system restore, and it uninstalled my LG PC Suite. son was playing games, downloaded something ... trojan comes up a few times, cant tell what exactly it is. portrays itself as windows security alert and a virus scanner it wants me to go online to purchase. i have disconnected it from the network, has no internet connection. went into safe mode, tried system restore twice with no luck, keeps saying incomplete restore. i have hit ctl-alt-del on start up and tricked it into starting before the virus gets started. i can end task on items but dont know what i should NOT end. without starting task mgr before virus starts, it will NOT let you open or start any other file or program. i did end a few crazy sounding tasks and was able to get my virus scanners open. ran 2 of those, malwarebytes anti-malware and avg. both completed full scans with no threats found. I NEED HELP !!!! any suggestions ?i have been suggested to turn off and then back on the system restore but with warnings that i will lose all prior saved backup points, is this really something i want to do ? and as for geting the exact name of this thing, i dont know how to do that. i was able to bring up start menu before virus started, went to run - msconfig - startup - and disabled all startup items, trying scans of avg and malwarebytes AGAIN, so far no infections. i have a portable harddrive with all our information, probably just can this and OS and start over ?! moreResolved Question: Strange random pop-up noises?

I was on the myspace website and a window popped up saying my computer may have a virus and automatically went to a website with the address dierobarso.cz.cc/scanner15/?afid=51 is this an adware, malware or advertisement? moreVoting Question: Startup issues on Windows 7 computer after registry/security updates.?
My computer has been acting strangely at startup recently. Often I have to reset by holding the button and twice already i've had to use restore points. On the 25th when I shut down, I saw and let two registry/security updates install. The next day I opened the comptuer I was greeted with the worst startup problems i've experienced. The monitor randomly kept going shutting off, the computer itself shutting off by itself. After several unsuccessful forced shut downs and then restarts, I got to the HP options screen (which is colored blue but not a blue screen) and chose to go back to a restore point yet again. After this, the computer ran fine, but I still do not know the reason for the problems i'm experiencing. I ran the HP health scanner and AVG and spybot and my computer came up devoid of viruses or the sort. I have a feeling tommorow will end up repeating this same problem when the problem downloads occur again (or so I believe they're problem downloads). Anything I can do? moreVoting Question: Why does my computer keep freezing?

I have AVG and about a month ago I was clean of viruses. AVG would scan and it wouldn't pick up a single thing. Now in the past 2 weeks or so it's going crazy, picking up "so called" virus after virus. I downloaded HitMan Pro 3.5 and it said it detected something, so it asked me to reboot and I did. Then after the reboot I scanned with AVG free edition and it's still picking up even more threats/infections and it has TONS of "warnings". It's saying it's picking up "trojan horse java/classloader" and a whole bunch of "tracking cookies" <--- Is that a bad thing? (I'm not good with computers.) I have no idea what to do and I'm getting tired of finding that I "supposedly" have all these infections or trojans. Is AVG going through a problem or is it just my computer? Can anyone tell me a SAFE way to remove any infections/trojans I may have? Like a virus scanning tool or something? I have AVG and also Avast! and I'm wondering if that may be the problem. I've heard it's not good to have 2 virus scanners? I'm wondering which one I should get rid of. AVG was working fine but now it's being a huge pain. When I use Avast! it doesn't pick up anything, no viruses or nothing. I have Avast! free by the way. Please help? Really confused and I'm just trying to get my computer clean again like it was not too long ago. moreResolved Question: scalp treatment? Am I really balding?
went to dye my hair a few days ago and the hairdresser there said that I am experiencing some hair loss on the top of my head. That freak me out because I am only 23 and am afraid of going bald. I don't think I drop a lot of hair daily, probably about 40-60 hairs. She said that I have a sensitive and dry scalp which is completely opposite of what my previous hairdresser told me in which my scalp is oily and has slight dandruff and gave me an anti-dandruff shampoo previously which I used twice weekly. Now my scalp has become dry and sensitive? I'm baffled by the whole thing. The current hairdresser than used a scalp scanner to scan my hair saying I have some inflmmation and recommend me to go for a scalp treatment and promise results within 1 session. I signed up for 1 session for $69 1/2 price. The normal price is $138 However when i went home I started to ponder over it and thought that inflammation part she was showing me in the pic was just one inflamed hair follicle that was zoomed in to make it look bigger plus she kept rambling about on how the inflammation was caused by infection of virus or bacteria which I thought was really strange. I asked people around me whether I am really balding and they said my hair is totally fine. I have seen a dermatologist quite some time ago for mild psoriasis and he has checked my hair before and said I the psoriasis will be on my scalp as well and gave me an anti-dandruff shampoo but overall I'm fine. However that was 2 years ago. I'm still very scared of lack of hair growth. I don't think I treat my hair badly, just relaxing yearly and dyeing for every 6 months though I have an intention to stop the relaxing as it seems to damage my hair ends. I have a problem with my internet speed. it was fine, then became slower and slower as time went on. Then i tryed ccleaner, and it seemed to have worked amazingly well. my internet was back and running like new, but then i went on to facebook and now my internet is slower than its ever been. sometimes it wont even load the page. I'm sick of throwing money at this with no results. I've spen nearly $1000 on software that promises to "speed up your internet" only to be back at the same problem. recently I recieved a phone call from someone with a thick accent that told me he found malware on my computer and that if i didn't pay $109 to his company my windows would stop working altogether. I have never given out my phone number at all! it's a private line! I don't know how this person got my number but to say the least i was mad and told him to stay out of my computer then i hung up. Sure enough the next mourning my laptop was not able to start up windows and i'm in the process of completely wipeing it (inclueding the partion witch was also corruped) and installing windows from scratch. It cost alot more than most anti-spyware, it's a huge program, it uses alot of resourse and it didn't stop this situation that i'm in. spybot-search and destroy seems to be a good bot remover but anyone who wants this program should be aware there are many copy cat programs that come up with any search for that program. I am very carefull with what I click on, it's a good point tho. Even when down loading a program I've used before I read everything. many things come with toolbars, change your home page, or worst. be carefull to read everything is a common rule everyone should follow. Now that i've explained that I'm not new to this is there anyone who can help me get my other computers back to a useable state with out spending $200 a pop for a new windows. moreVoting Question: if someone is hacking into my email and my computer, what can i do about it?

NOW WHAT? moreResolved Question: Computer works, with one user account. but not the other?
The administrator account, doesn't work the way it should. Or at least the way it did before. On the administrator account, facebook, and yahoo mail is used. Occasionally, there are other sites that are using on the administrator user account. When I say, doesn't work the way it should, I mean, the Internet freezes, and when you turn up the volume, it just goes down on it's own, only when on the internet. And it's just plain slow. The other user account, who is not an administrator, works perfectly fine. There is more information, on THIS account, than the administrator. (As in, documents, music, and bookmarks). This account uses more sites than the administrator, and a lot of them, could be holding viruses. The virus scanner, didn't work. You know, malywarebytes? That virus scanner. It's supposed to get rid of the viruses. It did, but it didn't make the administrator, user account, any faster. moreResolved Question: Windows online virus scanner pop up?
I am on a MAC computer. I don't have virus software though. I was working from myspace and suddenly it just went to a page with a green "loading" circle and a little message box saying that it has found a virus on my computer. I tried to force quit safari but it went on to the virus scanning page anyway. I didn't get a good enough look at the address but it started with "c" and ended with ".cc". Could this have possible infected my computer with a virus? Thanks!Oh and btw, looking at my history page, it says it was from link4438.com. moreResolved Question: Annoying little yellow lock showing up on my internet bars?

Ok, I really need help with this. I've put about 8 hours of work in all ready... first I'll tell you my computer specs and then what I've done so far, and hopefully someone will know exactly what to do. I have an Acer Ferrari 1100 with Windows Vista Ultimate. There are 3 user accounts on my computer, two of them work fine (Administrator and User 2) but mine (User 1) is infected with that rogue malware from AV Security Suite. This same thing happened to me a few months ago but I had a computer guy get rid of it, my computer had been working fine until about 2 days ago. I can't open anything on User 1 because it says that the file ****.exe is infected and then the usual AV Security Suite crap. I've run full system scans on Admin and User 2 with Spyware Doctor and Malware Bytes; SpyDoc didn't find anything but Malware Bytes found 5 infections. I clicked *remove all* or whatever it said, rebooted my computer, and went on User 1 and it still had the same problem. I have run Spyware Doctor on my user and i was able to because I did it before the virus kicked in. I've run the full scans on Admin and User 2 in both safe mode with networking and normal windows, and I would run Malware Bytes on mine but this is where it gets tricky... Safe Mode with Networking doesn't let me use my fingerprint scanner password to get into my account, and I can't find a way to disable the fingerprint password because in normal mode I can't even open the program. Please help me. I need this laptop for school and any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need to ask me any more questions I'd be more than happy to answer. Thanks again.I would follow the instructions but I'm still confused...like I said I have a fingerprint scanner on my user account only, and safe mode with networking wont let me use the fingerprint scanner so therefore I cant get on my desktop in safe mode with networking. Any advice?Mike I just realized what you wrote, let me try that method and I'll tell you how it goes. moreResolved Question: Is Comodo good enough to protect against viruses found in Frostwire?

I was hit a few weeks ago by AV SECURITY SUITE virus and i think i have gotten rid of it. i no longer receive its bogus messages about downloading anything and my virus scanners dont detect anything anymore, but sometimes things just go wrong and it seems like the virus is still working away. this has happened twice before with this virus when i got it, i managed to rid the computer of it (or so i thought) and it re-emerges. so is there any way to ensure and check that my computer is now finally okay and rid of the virus? moreTop Virus Scanner Links
