Open Question: Why can't I download and run or save anything?

I went into to safe mode to try and figure out or eliminate possibilities. When I try and use the suggestions given to me I can not download and run or save anything. It downloads 100 percent and when it runs a security scan it immediately pops up a error message- contained a virus and was deleted. And Im still getting the message popping up that says (you are running out of disk space on Recovery(D:). To free space on this drive by deleting old or unnecessary files, click here...) and when I click it it pulls up DISK CLEANUP FOR RECOVERY (D:). And the only options are office setup files and recycle bin and they both have 0 bytes and do absolutely nothing when I click it. There is a more options tab and I can delete some program features which I cant do without knowing which ones, and delete system restore points and shadow copies. And when that is clicked it does nothing yet again. I dont have a clue what to do, but I know I need help! I dont have the money to get it fixed and its my way to a degree. Im the only one to fix it and I need help. I appreciate it very much!My main problem is the fact that I cant install or run anything. I also can uninstall certain things because the installer isnt working.I used the first suggestion and was able to free up 197MB. Open Question: What's wrong with my computer?

Twice now it's done this. It'll suddenly and randomly go black for a second and then turn back on, but everything looks weird. Like my tabs are suddenly see-through and glitchy. And last time my computer crashed right after. This time I noticed that some sort of driver...I think it said AMD? failed or something. Not sure what they means or why this is happening, but I hope it's not a virus or something. I wasn't doing anything but watching youtube. And every time I turn my computer on, I make sure I run an Adware scan, a disc clean-up, and an update check. Is there something I should be worried about?Ya, you're right, it said the Display AMD driver stopped responding and successfully restarted. It just did it again, only this it didn't give me problems directly afterwards. But the first time it was all glitchy. My desktop disappeared, then my star menu disappeared. more

Open Question: Computer running slow after moving?

I recently moved into a new apartment and brought my gaming PC with me when I moved. I properly shut down the machine before unplugging it and made sure it was well protected during the move. However, after starting it back up the computer that was once able to dual screen two separate games of Diablo 3 now can't even manage World of Warcraft. Apart from moving, the only thing that has changed is that I am now using a HD television for a monitor. the resolution is lower than it was on the monitor I used before the move (which was an HD gaming monitor) which broke in the moving process, hence why I'm using the television instead. I've tried everything i can think of. Defragging, updating drivers/windows, clearing all caches, internet history, virus scans, you name it. There has been no improvement at all. It also runs abysmally slow while surfing the internet. While the internet is probably overtaxed (PS3, Laptop, and Desktop on 10m/sec), I know it is not the internet causing the problems since my laptop is running WAY faster than my computer- and I bought the computer to replace my crappy laptop and until the move, my computer was faster by a ton. Anybody got any ideas as to what it can be and how to fix it?The computer is about a year old. Its video card is (as far as I know) pretty far up the line.I can provide further specs if need be. more

so i was on the pirates bay and i downloaded the sims 3 pets expansion pack. i bought the base game originally, but wanted to get pets from pirates bay. anyways, i downloaded it, launched it, and then after it was succesfully installed, it asked for the disc. Although I deal with computers on a daily basis whether its home or at school, I fix computers and do a little software programming. Even with this experience I can't seem to figure out why my computers going crazy. Problems: 1: Occasionally my computer when I right click and press a button, the button stays on my screen. It is very frustrating. 3: This isn't so much a big problem but ever since I got my razor keyboard and mouse whenever I press anything during start up the computer freezes. No idea why, but when I put my standard HP keyboard I can do it perfectly. This has been quite annoying as I can't access the BIOS. These problems have been for a while and just have gotten really annoying recently. Note: I have done multiple virus scans(the in depth kind that take hours on end) and have only come up with a single adware nothing big, But its gone. I have a huge problem my Western digital memory stick is infected with viruses, there is about 150gigs of data I need to scan through. The problem is the antiviruses take HOURS to scan through and this virus just easily avoids these slow scans or just freezes my computer by a quarter way its done. Open Question: Insufficient V-Memory on Startup then A write operation was attempted to a volume after it was dismounted?

I have a Core2Duo HP xw4400 Workstation, I shut it down normally and the following day it starts and restarts right after it reaches the Desktop (5 to 10 seconds) and keeps restarting in loop after it reaches the Desktop saying the Virtual Memory is insufficient. I started in Safe Mode and went to setup the Virtual Memory, but it was already on 2048-4096, even though I changed it to 4096-8192. Restarted but the problem persists and the computer keeps restarting in loop as before. I thought it may be a virus, so I booted with KAV2013 CD and scanned my computer but no virus was found. And I thought to myself maybe I need to change the Power Supply, so I bought a new one and changed it, and nothing changed. So I had no choice but to format my 160GB SATA HDD, but after format and files copy and restart, and right before getting into the graphic mode installation 5 steps I got the message "The quota of virtual memory or swap file in insufficient..." (Notice I have 2 partitions and both have 15 to 20gigs free space). So it restarted a second after showing the message that it doesn't even allow you to read 3 words from that long message. And the restarting goes in loop every time it retakes the installation and reaches that level. I brought an IDE HDD and plugged it in and started to format it to install a new windows, but I got the same message, I unplugged the old SATA HDD and formatted the new HDD but this time I got a new message "A write operation was attempted to a volume after it was dismounted" knowing that I was formatting the new HDD not the old dismounted one which means the message is kinda weird because it has no relation with the new installation attempt. Yet I deleted the partition and recreated it to lose any trace from the old dismounted SATA HDD. So I restarted formatting in new, and as it copies the files and restarts, it gets to the same level (graphic installation mode) and gives me the message of dismounted volume again. I am getting crazy, and don't understand what's going on. Any help would be appreciatedI removed the NEW IDE HDD and plugged in the OLD SATA HDD, I formatted again, and again I have the "Insufficient Virtual Memory" message then auto-restarting in loop. more

Many antivirus scans don't detect it, and the ones that did cost money to remove it. No program of any type related to it shows up in the control panel for instillation. Open Question: My display driver keeps crashing?

Could use some help with this. My display driver has started to crash repeatedly whenever I do something as simple as opening documents, or browsing the internet. Got the BSOD twice, and had to reboot my computer both times. I've tried updating my drivers, scanning for any viruses/malware, rolling back my system, troubleshooting in safe mode, updating my windows, and searching for any solutions on the internet, all to no avail. It was ok for what it is a week ago. I am playing neverwinter online and was running it at near max base settings and it was running very smoothly. Suddenly i cant even run it on medium smoothly. All my browser pages and browsing is choppy and the computer is just not working well I uninstalled all useless programs, did a malwarebytes scan, cleaned up malware, did a virus scan, killed some stuff with Hijackthis, and did a registry clean its still just as bad my hardware is 16gb dd3 ram, nvidea gt 630 and an i7 @ 3.4ghz i have to mention these were components from a pre-built asus pc. i have since stuck it into a roomier tower with better cooling. i was getting better performance in the old tower with the side off the case removed for cooling. the CPU has been overheating on idle without any software running according to Speedfan ever since i bought it. I replaced the thermal paste with thermaltake but its still too hot i need a good pc that will handle games i like to play (mmorpgs mostly) at max settings. m heading to the hardware store to buy components. What is the minimum upgrade i should make to max out this game and not have my computer stutter all over the place? thanks! more

I have 4GB ram, a dual core processor and a processing speed of 2.53 GHz. I have a Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT video card and a ton of free space. But for some reason, my copy/pasting speed is always 1 MBps or less. It wasn't like this before. I'm sure I don't have a virus, because I scan my computer twice daily with Avast. So I have a really crappy 138GB HDD hard drive that only has about 3.86 MB available. I tried uninstalling some programs that I didn't use anymore, but I still didn't gain any space back. I tried doing a disc cleanup, and it only gave me about a couple MB back but still not enough. I then tried a disc defragement and still nothing. I then clicked the option for error checking on the hard drive, and I still havent gotten space back. I've also tried running a bunch of virus scans to see if that was a problem, but I had none. I can't connect to the Internet on my laptop. I've tried starting and restarting it, and I scanned for virus threats. I tried disabling my firewall, which I think could be the problem, but windows won't open firewall settings and it gave me an error message when I tried prompting the command line: it told me that to check if the program was disabled. I really don't know what to do. This happened suddenly. At first I thought my computer was starting in safe mode because the gray bar looked different and it wouldn't display my network settings, but it won't connect in any mode. Please help! more

This problem suddenly arrives one day while watching you tube videos. Since that day, after watching you tube videos for several minutes CPU usage will rises to 100 percent and cause the whole computer to lag. I have scanned the laptop for viruses but have found none thus far.Problem only rises after making a skype call with or without video or watching videos (not only you tube videos), even without any other programs opened. Hi, I have Quick Heal Total Security 2013. It was working fine until I made a mistake a few days ago. I got a message from one of my friends on Facebook that I should download a small software to know the names of my friends who have seen my Facebook profile. I thought that it has come from Facebook. So theres this new virus that only a few people are talking about online for the past couple of months. It doesnt turn files on my external hard drive into short cuts but moves everything into a separate folder and leaves a link for it within the hard drive window. I know im not explaining it well but the Hard drive icon that appears in My Computer appears again in the Hard drive and when you click that it opens your folders in a seperate window. I managed to find an antivirus of sorts, it called Macshield. Works to a certain point, it removes the link but it has to keep doing it since any flashdrive or external hard drive plugged in gets infected and Macshield has to act....the program doesnt solve the root cause just the immediate infection. Is there a better program that can scan and murder this virus from my OS???!!! Im Desperate!!!!BTW my AVG doesnt detect anything! So I tried on a different pc with Norton and it still didnt detect a virus..... more

Yeah I had some pop-ups spring up online. My computer became slowed, so I ran full computer scans with two pieces of software, neither of which I have paid for. On the full scan from 'Microsoft Security Essentials' it showed no threats present. This leads me to believe that I do not have a virus. However, on a full scan from 'SpyHunter 4' which i downloaded at the advise of an internet forum, it shows 20 threats all of which talk of ' {Wajam} '. Now I'm not a complete computer novice, but could someone please explain to me if SpyHunter is more reliable than Microsoft Security Essentials - should I be worried or not? If I've missed anything, I will later edit this to put it in the 'Additional Information' section. Thanks very much! more

Itunes opened up, I selected my music, and it told me it couldn't find it, so I went to my music folder and everything is gone. All my music, gone. Open Question: Virus on computer. Help!!!?

So my laptop has started to slow down considerably and cannot process most things. I believe there is a virus and have scanned and deleted infected files with Avast but still seems like there is a virus on my computer. I think it may be a hidden file but not sure where. Is there any software or something that I could get to get rid of the virus? more

My Mac book is about 5 years old, I am only using Safari and the screen has flickered several times in the last 15 minutes. no other apps are open. I am just using Facebook. Everything is updated. Do I need to be looking into getting a new Mac, because this is not the first time this has happen, and I really need the laptop for school. Open Question: Did I get rid of this virus?

I posted a question few mins ago about a virus I was trying to get rid of. I was on a non-admin user so I switched to administrator and saw the program. I uninstalled it, did another quick scan with malwarebytes and found nothing this time. I checked ccleaner and the program didnt appear on startup list as it did before. I read 2 articles about it which said it was really dangerous etc... and then stated they can fix it. It sounded like an advertisement to their business, I dont know how true that is. The program is called "strongvault" and I installed it while trying to install another program. Anyway, am I still in danger for my files etc.? This could sound dumb but I occasionally login to my bank account with that user and im afraid of scam, is it possible? Open Question: every window in my computer keeps scrolling down..?

this morning, my computer was acting weird. every window that i opened in it like a browser or even just a regular folder, it keeps scrolling down, to the point that it's even selecting an option i haven't chose yet! so i can't do anything normal! like say for example i'm about to type in facebook.com on chrome, it scrolls down automatically and the moment i press enter, it's not going to the page i want it to be. it's going to a different one because the selection keeps changing! the only thing that i recall doing before this happened is that i plugged in my cellphone on the computer to sync some files.. and boom, there it goes. i'm thinking it might be a virus or something but here's the deal. i tried checking safemode, and it's also happening there! i even tried restoring it to a previous restore point and it's also the same. of course i did the reboot of the computer and it's also not working. right now i'm running a computer scan and it's almost done but i haven't detected any culprit yet. anyone can help me here?? i really need this laptop to work badly.. i have a winxp 64bit laptop, running in 1MB RAM, and definitely its not a hard drive memory prob because i have a lot of free memory on the drive. honestly i'm thinking it might be related to my cellphone. maybe there is an app there with a dangerous file that triggered this.. but any suggestions on how to detect this further or how to fix this at all? help me pls! :( more

Open Question: How do I destroy this virus?

Okay my laptop is being funny I can go on the internet but when I try and download an anti malware software my laptop shuts off * My other antivirus protection results say I have these viruses Trojan, Worms, and Ad-ware and when I press the button to destroy it, it looks as though it has been destroyed but after I reboot my laptop and scan again it's still on, I cant DOWNLOAD a virus protection because it KEEPS TURNING OFF what else can I do- I also tried downloading it while on safe mode- Please help BEST ANSWER gets the points more
