Open Question: Mcafee reactivation, how do i do it?

So i wanted to play WOW on my computer, but Mcafee kept intercepting the download and deleting it as a trojan. So what i did is i uninstalled Mcafee and deactivated it so that i could install WOW. Did it and then i re-downloadedd my $60 subscription to Mcafee. I figured it was easy to deactivate it will be just as easy to REACTIVATE. NOPE, it seems Mcafee wants to try andswindlel $15 bucks for me to renew it instead of looking for help. So i simply went to the lower right hand corner of my computer. found the Mcafee icon and right click. I verified my subscription, but in order to get the software working, so it's firewall is up, it'smalwaree is up, and it's virus scan is up, is apparently to reactivate it. Simple enough, there is a button right there, directly under verify subscription. So i hit that button, it redirects me to the Mcafee account page. Easy all i have to do is put my password in, did it and then it brings me to the page that was identical to the deactivate page, only it says what else... REACTIVATE. so i press the button, and again i'm redirected to a page that says SUCCESS YOUR SOFTWARE HAS BEEN REACTIVATED ON YOUR (MIKE) COMPUTER. Mike being the name of my computer. So i assume yay it's working, NOPE still says deactivated. so i thought well maybe it's like when i deactivated it, it takes 7 days. So i pressed REACTIVATE once more to make sure and waited. Well 7 days passed, still deactivated, says my computer is at risk. So i paid $60 for Mcafee to tell me my computer is at risk? So for the last 4 days i've been trying everything! Nothing i do seems to work, so i went for official help. I can't get ahold of anyone on the phone, without waiting 10 minutes for a $5 a minute phone call. SCREW THAT! i tried the chat, but i have to Download some more Mcafee crap into my computer and i think i've had enough Mcafee for one YEAR. If it wasn't for me spending money on this crap i would just delete it and go Norton HELL ANYONE ELSE AT THIS POINT! I'm sofrustratedd because i'm going through email help right now, and buddy said i had to talk to technical support because it's a virus. WHAT HE'S THINKING OF HOWEVER IS, WHEN I TOLD HIM MCAFEE WAS REGISTERING WORLD OF WARCRAFT AS A VIRUS. i have free scans on my computer and my computer does self scans, i have nothing YET. i paid for Mcafee because i figured it was better to be SAFE THEN SORRY. NOW I'M STILL SORRY, SORRY I WENT WITH MCAFEE. It shouldn't be this much trouble to reactivate the damn software. They are doing this to me in hopes that i will just get fed up and RENEW the product for $15, or so i believe. AND FOR THOSE WHO WILL SAY, did you use up all youravailablee spaces. Open Question: Laptop Only works in Safemode!?

I have an HP Compaq laptop, its been working fine, and then today out of nowhere the screen went blank, but my music was still on so i freaked thinking my screen died. I restarted it and whenever it gets to the windows log in the screen goes blank... but then i went into safe mode... and it worked... like nothing was wrong at all... i could go into network, and use the internet... but i cant listen to music since the audios turned off. i dont know what else to do?? i system restored it and it still didnt work. In safemode i cleaned everything out, checked for spyware, malware, it cant find a virus. iv been looking all over online and other people have had the same prob, but no answers to help. please help, idk what else to do. like i said, the second the log in screen pops up the screen goes blank, but once in safemode it works perfectly more

Open Question: Kitten won't stand...slightly swollen hip area?

So I have 2 cats and one had a litter of kittens a few months back. I have 3 left and we are in the process of finding homes for them because my dad won't allow more than 2. Even though they are outside cats who run off for a few days now and then he doesn't want slot because he doesn't even like cats. Yesterday after school I went outside to find 2 kittens playing. I figures the 3rd one was off somewhere hiding until I saw it laying under my porch step. I thought she was dead but she was just napping. I woke her up and she looked sick. Her eyes were squinty and her nose was dry and she would not get up or eat. My mom came home and we gave her some amoxi drops she bought for a virus our 2 cats got. We figures she just had the virus so we thought she would be fine after the meds. This morn I woke up and she was gone until she returned to sight later that day. We found that her she lays on the one side so we tried to get her up but we could not...we thought her leg was broken so we prepared to splint it was we could not find the break. Except around her hip area it's a bit swollen. Shes now able to stand on her front legs while her back lies kind of awkward. Shes getting better and we put her in a box with blankets food and water and she seems content and purrs. We cannot take her to the vet though because of financial reasons and I just want to know what we should do to help the healing process and even found out the damage. No I will not put her to sleep. I'm not giving up on her cuz shes my baby and I love her. Please helpI forgot to include that today shes eating alot more and no longer has a dry nose or squinty eyes. Shes fine everywhere but her hip/leg area. more

Open Question: Is he into me? I need opinions?

I've become really attracted to my dr. I can't tell if he is flirting and interested in me also. I'm getting these signals because whenever I am in for an appt, if hes walking by in the hall, once he sees me, he pops his head in and smiles big and says "Hey!! whats up? Ill be right in!" and comes riiight back. Ive made sure to notice if he does this to everyone, adn he definitely doesnt. Also, we had a mutual facebook friend, and when I had to email him about a medical question, he replied, and then said, hey can I ask you a question when we're done with this? So he mentioned he saw me on FB, so out of curiosity, I added him, and was surprised when he accepted my request, because usually doctors arent so willing to let patients into their personal lives...right? And even more lately, if I have to email for something, he'll of course always help me medically first, but like 9/10 times will mention something personal...or ask a personal question. He is my GP, just to clarify. When i was in for my latest appt, he was making a lot of small talk and being chatty, which he usually is, but this time asking a little more personal questions, and touched my leg when he said hello, and put his arm around me when we were leaving. One night, I accidentially sent a FB message to him, which was meant for someone else..and he replied the next morning, and said 'hey ;)' which was what I had sent. and asked if it was a virus..and all I said was, 'yeah, im so sorry' and he replied again, adn said "its ok, i didn't mind!!" Then for my latest appt...he was even more friendly with me and seemed really happy to see me, did the leg touch again, chatted it up, and seemed kind of nervous actually. When it was time to go, he hugged me!! and it wasnt a really quick one. (isnt that another no-no in this profession? its not like i was crying about something medical, and needed his consoling). so after this hug, he wanted to show me around his new practice, he showed me his personal office, but that was basically it. The interesting thing about this tho, was that once we were in the office, he kind of hurried over to his comp and said, oh looks like it was me that was logged into your chart before. As in before he even saw me for the appointment. Why would he be looking @ that so prematurely..i just needed refills, and theres a chart in the room. Also asked me the next time i would be coming home from college. So i dont know how to approach the situation...is he interested? Is he hesitant to approach me because he is my doctor? Do I have to make first moves? Is it because of the age differnce (hes 46, i'm 22) and he thinks I wont be interested in an older man and he doenst want to be embarassed? How should I let him subtly know that I am interested with out coming across annoying to him? Ive sent a FB msg recently, but hadnt gotten a response :/ maybe he doesnt want an electronic trail of this due to legalities? Is he being inappropriate? idk. Open Question: I don't know what is causing my vulvar pain... Could it be Fibromyalgia?

Okay, I am going to make this as short and simple as possible, if I leave anything out just feel free to ask. At 17 I got a bad virus, wasn't given any medication just told to sleep a lot and eat well. It took 3 months for the virus/throat infection to clear up but I was left with Fibromyalgia. I am now 22, still have chronic pain all over my body but never took any medication for it. Things are getting worse now... I wasn't sexually active until age 20 and have had problems ever since. Sex has never been pain free and last time I engaged in sexual activity, I developed a 2nd UTI (I had my first last year, was given Bactrim and had an allergic reaction). Well this time, the urine test showed a little amount of bacteria according to my doctor and he prescribed me Cipro. While on the Cipro, the burning got 1000x more INTENSE. After I finished the 5 days on Cipro, the burning seemed to calm down a bit but then I got my period... I don't know if this was all caused by the antibiotics or what but the burning came back. I went to the gyno and cried because it was so painful when she touched me, I felt like I was on FIRE and it felt SO hot down there ALL OVER. She gave me Clotrimazole cream which is an anti-fungal and I started using it as well as eliminating oxalate's/dairy/acidic foods/sugars from my diet (I read about the oxalate diet on many vulvodynia websites & this basically left me to eat only a handful of foods daily) the burning calmed down again on most of my vagina except for inside right at the entrance way. When poked or touched, there is a sensation of pain & burning. My gyno also said I had no yeast but now I am reading that sometimes yeast can't be detected by just looking, is this true? My blood test from my regular doctor came back fine. And I also went to a urologist who did a quick sonogram type test that said my bladder seemed to be empyting fully. He prescribed me Macrobid (a light antibiotic) to take and then go back in a week for a cystoscopy which I don't plan to do because I really don't think it's going to help. No one is giving me a diagnosis but I'm sure it must be vulvodynia, or what else can it be? what am I missing here? no one is giving me any type of treatment to try and it is beyond frustrating. I cringe at the thought of intercourse because of the pain. I am 22, this can't be happening to me. It's been over a month since this all started and yesterday I went to see Dr. Glazer (he is well known for his vulvodynia studies) and he wanted to start biofeedback but I would not insert that thing into my vagina knowing the pain it would cause. I refused. He then suggested to go to a rheumatoid doctor to see if I could be treated with pain meds for Fibromyalgia and maybe that would help the vulvar pain. What if it doesn't? Can anyone please give me advice... tests I should take/good doctors in the NYC area that take Empire Blue Cross Insurance PPO... any remedies/course of treatments I should try? Please, I am desperate. Oh, Glazer also said something about being tested for Hashimoto's. I have also tried to spray the area after urination/wipe with cotton tissue/wear white cotton underwear/eliminate all soaps etc. from down there/eat tons of yogurt and drink only water/cranberry juice & pills/Biotin vitamin nightly/use Aveeno oatmeal bath... it helps the pain on the outside area but on the entrance way IT IS STILL THERE I also take Ibuprofen sometimes since it's an anti-inflammatory but I really don't get much help from it and I know that it also causes stomach bleeding if taken excessively. I also feel like sitting for a long time/wearing tight jeans that rub may exacerbate the symptoms but I don't know if my mind is playing tricks on me now... I also still feel a burning pain with urination. Fibromyalgia also causes burning sensations/pins & needles in the muscles throughout the rest of my body so maybe it's causing it down there too? more

Open Question: How did I get this computer virus? And what is it?

I have no idea what happened but just a few minutes ago online all of a sudden I got this page up that told me my computer was infected with a virus and then I saw what looked like fies being scanned. I didn't know what to do so I tried to click out of it, not sure if that made it worse but I couldn't tell if it was a trick or what!! So I did this and it told me if I clicked out that it would continue to infect the computer but I clicked out anyways because I felt like it was a trick....Anyways i then tried to run a full scan with my McAfee which I am still doing. Resolved Question: Can adware or a virus type the word "porn" in to our search box?

My husband CLAIMS to have not looked at a porn site, however, the site was looked at and the actual site was TYPED in to a seach box on our computer (our search box saves recent searches). My husband says that adware or a virus can put things in to your search box and make it seem like you've been to that particular site. Meaning that the word "porn" magically appears in a search box and gets clicked on. This is what he says adware and a virus can do.... Now, I'm NOT stupid. I have a used averatec 37OO laptop [note that it is the only personal computer I have [I am currently using a public computer] and I DID pay $15O for it so don't criticize]. When I got the laptop it had windows xp and worked great for a few weeks, then around 6 months ago it got a bad virus and I could not do aNYTHING so I just wiped windows xp from the hard drive, thinking it could be reinstalled. But nothing would install [not even ubuntu], and I couldn't even run fdisk, dban, kildisk or anything else. Recently I found out that the hard drive may have a "lock" on it, which may have been what was preventing me from accessing or modifying it. I didn't have the "password" to unlock the hard drive [I assume it was set by the previous owner], but I was told that I could possibly just clear the drive of the password instead by disconnecting/removing the hard drive for a period of time, then replacing it. I followed the instructions on the following site EXaCTLY to attempt to locate/remove the hard drive, which was near impossible on that kind of laptop [there is virtually NO access on it]: http://www.larwe.com/technical/av3715-open.html When I followed those disassemly instructions, I didn't think I saw anything that looked like the hard drive, and I was afraid because of the way I had to disassemble it, so I just didn't even worry about the hard drive, I just screwed the laptop back together in the same way I took it apart. Open Question: What should I get... A Mac or a PC?

This is a bit of a dilemma... I'm on the market for a new laptop, and I would love a MacBook Pro... I'm not really sure why, I'd be new to it cause I've always had PCs but I like the fact that they are light and user friendly and immune to viruses etc... However, I heard that they are terrible for gaming, and that would be a problem for me... I could go for a high-end gaming laptop (for about the same price), it would offer everything I needed for things other than gaming... But.... Most of the -good- gaming laptops are HEAVY and the weight is an issue for me, as easy portability is a must. They're also not generally as... Aesthetically pleasing, shall we say, as Macs are (and I don't want to blow 3 grand on a nice-looking Alienware one)... I suppose I could get over this in time, but it's still kind of annoying. I'm a girly-girl and don't particularly like carrying around giant black emotionless-looking blocks of hardware... I could add stickers, but stickers are tacky =P Right now I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 (pink) and a desktop, but when I move out the desktop is staying. This will be a sort of "moving out and going to university" present from my parents, they said I could get what I want and price isn't a factor, but I would like to keep it under $2,500 if I can. It's not fair to make them spend too much more on me, they did fund my life for the past 18 years after all ;) I guess my real question is, should I go with the MacBook Pro? Would it handle the type of games I'd like it to handle? So I was on this chinese website streaming a tv show and when I was done a virus program was trying to say it was protecting me from viruses but I would have to pay for it. But the. Voting Question: Virus on my ipod touch!! What to do?

I was using the google app and reading an article on a website when it redirected me to a different website that was a black screen that had a tiny pop up looking thing in the center. I quickly hit the back button and it returned to google as if nothing happened. It kind of freaked me out so I plugged it into my computer, thinking I could use AVG to scan it, because I can do that with my cell phone when I plug it in. The only problem is my computer recognizes it as a camera and theres no way that I can see to virus scan it. I dont know what to do! I tried to call apple technical support but the stupid place closes at 6 (it was 15 minutes too late!!!) I dont know if i should restore to its factory settings and lose all of my apps and saved stuff, and risk that not fixing it, or if i should just wait til tomorrow when I can call apple. I've gotten viruses on my computer through websites before so I'm wondering if ipods are the same way. Or if maybe they dont download cookies and things the same way that computers do. Anyone with any experience that can help me out with this? I'm kinda freaking out. Since I was 16 I've gone through 8 different ipods for various reasons and this one has lasted the longest and I'd really like it to last even longer, lol. Also as another side note. I did not get the apple care protection plan when it was purchaused, but its been less then a year. Is there a warrenty on it that apple gives complementary for the first year? my mom thinks she knows everything, and whats worse is she denies it every wayy she can and says i think i know everything. just now, she wanted me to open an emailattachmentt. i opened it for her and i put it on the desk top. she is very illiterate with computers and thinks that the desktop is any folder. she started screaming at me saying to put it on her "desktop" (which to her is the folder with her name on it) because what i do is apparently too complicated. i tried to explain to her that the desktop is the screen with all the icons and the background picture, then again she starts screaming that she knows better than me and is smarter. next i was watching a show about aircraft carriers, then she goes in and says, how do they so quickly, they must have powerful breaks on th wheels. i told her there is a steel cable that catches the plane, then once again she says "shut up, i am smarter than you and i know better, if it was a cable, it would snap". again, she was on the computer, and then one of those pop up adds that say you have a virus pops up. i tell her not to click it because then we will get a virus. she once again says she knows better, and clicks "remove on the add. soon, a virus warning shows up and puts porn on the desktop and crashes the computer. she thinks that i was on the internet too long and it got us the virus. lastly, the one thing that pissed me off the most was when i was looking through my papers, she saw an old algebra II test that had a D. she went on that it was horrible (which i wasn't in the mood to listen too), and she says that the formula Y=MX+B is supposed to be from what she says-y is equal to m times positive b. when i went on my daily jog, she decided to come with me. i told her to where her running shoes but she wore flip flops which on a jog is a bad idea. i told her not to do that, but then she started screaming and again she says she knows better. when we jogged 2 minutes from the house, she got VERY tired, and said i somehow messed her up. finally she thinks im anti social. i dint like to talk to her friends children because they are total snobs, stuck up, or just annoying. i have way more friends than she assumes i have but she of course doesn't believe me. I have a problem with my hotmail at the moment, early last week my hotmail account started displaying strange behaviour, I could sign in to hotmail ok, but I couldn't open any of my e-mails, I'd click on an e-mail and hotmail would just hang, then 5-10 min's later my e-mails would open, though sometimes they wouldn't open at all, it's been like this for about a week now and still behaves this way now, it's extremely frustrating. I was listing to a NPR radio piece yesterday that was about general censorship and child porn. The article cited a few individuals who were in jail for having even one child pornographic image on their hard drives. One prosecutor said he is sure some of his cases likely involved a frame by one parent, custody battle and all. Another case featured an father talking about how his young son who had no criminal record was now in jail for one curious night of internet surfing. My question is about how draconian it seems the law is! Could someone who accidentally gets an illegal pic get in huge trouble? I mean, without intent someone could easily come across a pic on a site that is illegal. I recall that whitehouse.com, something like that, used to redirect to a pornography site. My point is, say I was into deer hunting and looked up mother dears with fawns, and a child porn site loaded when I clicked, should I go to jail? Those photos are stored in the internet cache even if I leave the page as soon as possible; so the photos are on the computer! This is not one of those "a friend of mine" questions. After hearing the article and seeing some of the crazy stuff my friends email me sometimes, I wonder? So if I get an unsolicited email that contained child porn, open it without intent or prior knowledge, can I go to jail for that possession? Heck, with the file in my inbox I already have the deviant material! In this new era it is hard to know how dangerous technology is! Exploitation of children is terrible and I think those who commit those crimes should be punished severely. It just scares me that like catching a virus, I might someday catch some jail time for looking up something I thought was innocent, but is in fact a code word for something dirty! Resolved Question: Stuck at HP Invent Boot Screen...?

My laptop wont work. I have an HP Pavilion DV6500. When I boot, my F8 button wont take me to safe mode. I can't go to restore points (F11) ... no others work either. I've heard of the possibility of a boot sector virus, and that might be what has happened since I don't use realtime virus protection since it slows my computer down. Anyway, lets ignore that fact and pretend it could be anything but that. No effect. It just sits there at the boot screen and does nothing. I've tried booting with my AC adapter in and with it out as well. I've tried taking just my Lithium Ion battery out for 24 hours and it started up once, but later that day it screwed up again and wont go past boot. I tried it again (taking battery out) but no luck. Yesterday my friend was acting really strange. When I went to talk to him he got really mean and just told him to leave him alone and he just laid on the couch all day until later that night when he was acting normal like nothing happened. I came home tonight and he was freaking out beyond belief. He was sitting in his room just screaming about nothing and how all he wants is to be happy. Some virus added him on facebook and he just started screaming about how he needed this girl to leave him alone. He wasn't making any sense. Any time someone moved or knocked on the door he just went crazy and started yelling. When he was laying down, I looked at his phone to see who he had called and texted. I saw a text that said "I know why I couldn't sleep last night" and the second said "acid" Can what he's experiencing be a result of the acid (again, I'm not sure if he actually did take anything) Could he be going through some sort of withdrawal? I fully understand how addicition works, but he hasn't been known to do anything like this before and he's never acted like this so I'm kind of concerned.Thanks Anthony. I was looking at some webpages last night for a project for school and when I clicked on one link it started opening like a ton of Mozilla Firefox pages. I freaked out at turned off my computer real quick. I turned it back on, uninstalled Firefox, reinstalled it using Internet Explorer and when I opened it again it opened the same webpage and a ton more Firefoxs. Again, I turned it off really quick and this time when I turned it back on I had McAfee SecurityCenter do a full scan of my computer. When I checked back later it said there was no viruses. Hey.. Im sorry if i seem stupid and/or a bad boyfriend... Me and my girlfriend have been going out for about 9 months, and ever since we have been, i've always been the one to start the conversation, always. If we were both on msn, she would stay on for hours and not speak to me on there. She would only speak to me if i speak to her first. I deemed the reason for this as the fact she is very shy. But what i thought, is that when we get better together, she may become less shy, and start speaking to me first; so i spoke to her first until our relationship got a lot stronger. So i wait 3-4 months, and i do a "test", and i didn't speak to her first whilst we were both online. No luck, she just goes offline after a couple of hours. Quite annoyed over this TBH, i make subtle hints to her in person saying things like: "you know you can speak to me on msn or facebook if you want ;) remember i dont always know if your on :p" She replies something like "yeah i will sorry" So i accept that. No luck still. But recently its getting even worse. She recently got a virus on her msn account, and it didnt work, so she didn't use msn in case of her laptop crashig, (fair enough) so i could only speak via text or facebook. Problemm is, when i text her, she rarely replies to my text. That just annoys me to be perfectly honest. But she is facebook, but she appears offline all the time. And she never starts the conversation first.. (at the moment i have to look at her profile, see if she has done anything on her recent activity, if she has, i send her a private message, which is a lot of effort for a simple conversation) Now even if all hope for that is lost, i can still see her in person, right? She lives around a 2 minute walk from my house, so no problems. wrong. Whenever we plan to go out - which would be 12 30 at her house to meet up - i get a text from her around 10-11 that morning, and she says she cant come out because she is: A) Going to her nans house B) Going to her aunties house C) Being forced to go "wedding shopping" D) Is not feeling up to it that day. So, feeling rather annoyed, i go "Ok, have fun.." in my best attempt not to show my anger. I confronted her about this btw, she said that all of the reasons are genuine reasons, and she finds them out on short notice. Again, i have to believe her i guess. But the horrible thing is, its getting to a point where im looking at my phone that morning, waiting for the text saying she's cancelled again. Now im trying so hard to overlook this, to accept its just who she is. But anyone girl will agree with the fact that doing that is not a great way to show your boyfriend how you feel. My question to you is this: What should i do? Should i accept it, or try and risk talking about it? It seems my laptop has been hit really bad. I get these little pop ups about 'antivirus software alert' and a 'windows security alert' that are bogus The windows security alert reads :"application cannot be executed. the file rundll32.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?" I can't seem to be able to do anything to stop it. I can't run task manager, because it just kills it, I can't even use the internet (every now and then it will open up internet explorer and go to the page where i can supposedly buy some antivirus software - othertimes it tries to take me to a porn website). A while back I took my computer to a local store and got it fixed after a nasty virus screwed up my OS. While he had it I went ahead and upgraded to Win 7 and 4gb of RAM (previously 2gb). I noticed I have been getting a lot of BSOD and decided to finally take a look into it. I asked a question on here a while back and was told my BSOD are RAM related. Then it hit me. So I tried to see if any one stick was faulty. I used different memory testers to no avail. They all say my RAM is fine. So now I looked at my brand of RAM and need help. Here's what I have: 2 x 1gb Samsung DDR2 PC2-4200U at 533mhz (4 years old) 1 x 2gb Crucial DDR2 PC2-6400 at 800mhz (6 months old) Are the different speeds the cause of my RAM related BSOD? Or am I barking up the wrong tree here? I have noticed no BSOD while using the same brand of RAM at the same speed. So it really seems like I need to go buy some more RAM if I don't want a BSOD every couple of hours. You may have noticed by now that I don't really know what to do, and you are right. I can put a computer together (as long as other people tell me what parts to get), but I am clueless when it comes to how this stuff actually works. Any help would be appreciated. more

I had a child a few years back in one of my classes who really caught my eye. I was teaching 5th graders at the time, and she was in one of my largest classes. She had severe ADHD and depression, but in my opinion, she also seemed to be extremely gifted. She always seemed to be a step ahead of the rest of her friends, especially on the maturity level. I was amazed at the things she would talk about, she would think about these deep philosophical things, in 5th grade. She had a large vocabulary, and was an avid reader. She wrote really imaginative, descriptive stories that were way above a 5th grade level. I remember at one point in the year, the whole class had to take a exam to see their reading level, and she scored a post- college level in 5th grade!! Another thing that stood out was her intuitive nature, she had this amazing ability to predict things. Her parents told me that one day she told them that "she just knew her brother was going to get sick today" and sure enough her brother ended up having a stomach virus. Another time, she had a bad feeling about someone getting in a wreck, and her dad ended up getting in a wreck that same day. One day her mother left a candle on in the house, and the little girl had no idea a candle was burning, she had no idea that her mother had even lit a candle. When the little girl went to bed, she had this "really strong, odd feeling" that something was left on, and she needed to turn it off or the house would catch on fire. Sure enough the little girl walked into the living room, straight into the room where the candle was, and blew it out. She just had this uncanny ability to notice things about other people that no one else noticed. Her parents had told me that she could look into someone's eyes and tell what kind of person they were. She could tell when someone wasn't telling the truth, even the best liars didn't fool her. And last but not least, she could morph into any character she wanted to bed. Very, very, very talented actress. She could act like anyone she wanted to, and probably fool everyone. Of course, that was a couple years back and I have no idea where she is today, because she left our school after 5th grade. Does this girl sound like a genius to you? more

I used spybot, avg and anti-malware, i had a few trojans and alot of malware that always tried to redirect me to different web pages and also brought up a fake Google page that looked exactly like the real thing and most of them have been cleaned up by the programs i used, but there is still something on my computer, it keeps trying to redirect me to a web page called www2.super-security52.co.cc/?, avg always alerts me that it's a attack page and doesn't let it load or avg will just send a message saying this harmful web page tried to load and it will show that firefox.exe did it, but sometimes i will find it will load and just a blank white web page will show up with the website url shown in the address bar. i did lots of scans already but they all come up clean. What kind of information would these things of compromised on my computer? and is there a way i could remove it manually remove it? i looked at the task manager and i can't seem to find any suspicious processes more

My husband was sick with some flu like virus a few days ago, but for a month before that his right eye got all red and puffy with what looked like pimples. (Really sorry if this is TMI) It's not on his eye or anything but the baggy part that turns dark if you don't have enough sleep where this happened. He popped what he thought were the pimples, but it got all red and swollen underneath and people have been noticing it which makes him upset because if it's acne it's embarrassing for him, which is understandable. But, then he got the flu and his eye looked like crap even more and more people were coming up to him and asking what happened to your eye? He looked in the mirror and saw how bad it was, it literally looked like someone had punched him and it swelling by the cheek and lower lid. Something made him look at his actual eye ball and the bottom part of it (not the mucus-y pink part on the lid but the actual ball) was turning yellow. He doesn't know if he could have jaundice or not, because he doesn't do anything that would ruin his liver, and he said jaundice can be caused by someone who has been sick with the flu, but that was a week and a half ago almost and his eye is still yellow! We noticed it three days ago (Wednesday night) and it's still there. What else could it be? I want him to go to the doctor but he has a medical bill out already that he's still trying to pay off and he doesn't have insurance and we're broke. That's why I am asking. ok, so me and my girlfriend have about the same skillset when it comes to computers. she is currently out of state, so i cant look at her pc anyway haha. anyway, according to her widget in vista her cpu is constantly at 100%, and killing her battery, making her wireless card disconnect, where the only way to make it work again is disable and enabling it. i should also add that her laptop overheats all the time. which is to be expected with an overloaded processor. i had her install avg and a host of other programs, including norton, which i get free with comcast but i hate. any help in finding this "virus" would be greatly appreciated. also, dell told her to run it in safe mode and this is what she had to say when i asked about it. did the comp run normally in safe mode? like not at 100% lol Lauren says: until he told me to open any programs Lauren says: in normal mode the memory was well over half used and the cpu was up so in safe mode the memory was down from 2. something gb to 600 mb but the cpu would pop up as soon as i opened anything i also had her check, and msn is using the most cpu and ram.... which was using the most on mine also but we have almost identical computers as far as specs and mine was running at 10% thanks alot for any helpshe only had avg in the first place....... and it was at 100 more

Sorry. If you are a theist, you should not attempt to answer this. Sorry for that. I think we all agree that Gods were created to fill gaps in knowledge and religions were created by rulers to make it easy to control them and also to give people a strong reason for unity (sorry Buddhists and maybe some other religions I don't know of to which this may not apply). In the present context of the world, it exists in many parts of the world for the same reason. Lets take the US for example. They have enforced Christianity (we know it seems to give freedom to choose your religion, but Christianity is literally forced anyways) during the Cold War period after the second world war to unite people against Soviet Union (which had state enforced atheism). It is still being enforced to win the peoples' support for so-called war against terrorism, which is basically a war for oil against many countries (which are mostly Muslim). We also know that these countries will also try to convert American people to follow Islam, as the part of the war to ruin their plans and enforce Islam in their countries as much as they can to unite their people. So are America funded Christian Churches trying to achieve in various parts of the world. If you have many people of a particular religion in your country, your country is much more likely to support the one which has the same religion than the next. If you look at India-Pakistan matter, you will see how Hindu/Muslim thing is being used to achieve political goals by both countries. It is also used inside India to make it as an agenda in internal politics. Normal people can be stupid but the leaders understand how to use religion. Islam is constantly being modified and so is Christianity. That is exactly why there are so many differences between the religious texts and preachings in religious organizations. Most do not read the original religious texts anyways and depend upon their religious leaders, who are certainly influenced by state in one form or other. If you have watched the documentary "The Root Of All Evil - Richard Dawkins" (a.k.a. "The God Delusion" and "The Virus of Faith") or read the book "The God Delusion", Dawkins presents religion as the main problem of the world. I understand that from Dawkins' viewpoint, religion might look like the biggest problem since that is the reason why his significant contributions in science is being neglected by most of the world population. But is it really the "root of all evil"? I maybe wrong, but from where I see it, religion is just a tool which can be used for unity and easy administration or for advantage in the war or both. I think that is the reason why atheism and other religions are constantly under attack in a country with a certain religious foundation. If you live in any such country, you can certainly try your best to promote reasonable thinking by education and everything, but you certainly can't succeed significantly as you will not be allowed to do so in one way or other by the state. As an atheist, what is your take on this? I'm open to your agreement/disagreement in this and expect you to post answers based on your context and your country/region or anything you have to say based on your observation. Sweden which has the highest percentage of atheist population (80%) has actually less mental health problems than the USA which has only 10% atheist population. :D more

Resolved Question: Do you agree with the scientists trying to engineer birds to look like dinosaurs?

There are a group of scientists that have discovered how to modify the embryos of unhatched birds in order to change their appearance. They have found that if you inject certain viruses at points of the embryo, they can turn on/off genes that define the looks of the chicken. For example, they saw that in the early stages of development, the chick had a long tail with fully formed vertebrates. Slowly, over a couple of days, the chicks tail would shrink to the 5 vertebrates that the chick would have when it was fully grown. This caused them to experiment, and inject a virus into the tail. Eventually, the chick retained its long, prehistoric tail. Now, they are experimenting more to try and recreate a dinosaur by say, turning off feathers, and turning on teeth and tails. I want to know what you think of this? I neither agree nor disagree. On one hand, it would be exciting to see a dinosaur, and we could learn SO much from having them around again. On the opposite hand, dinosaurs became extinct millions of years ago for a reason. They should be left alone, and perhaps mankind shouldn't mess with these things. If we did create dinosaurs out of their time, we would have to live with the consequences. Mankind sometimes wants to act God, and it isnt right. Mankind has manipulated the species to define breeds such as the chihuahua and the doberman. However, man fails to take responsibility should one of these breeds attack someone. If a bull terrier goes wild and attacks, it will be killed. Yet, this breed has been developed by humans to be a tough status symbol. If humans developed a pidgeon to be like a raptor, and it went on the rampage and killed someone... people would be like "Oh blame the fake dinosaur!" when really, you should blame the person that created it. By the way, I am not saying that the scientists are going to be successful and we will see rampant tyrannosaurus and triceratops within the century, I'm just curious to whether people think its morally okay. more

Voting Question: Is it selfish or just - Possesion of Christmas gift?

So I have two computers in my room, both were mine. One Desktop we've had for about three years and it had a virus on it before Christmas. My friend fixed it a day ago so we have now two computers in my room. I received a notebook laptop from my mom on Christmas and we just started to use internet ever since we got it last week. My mother is becoming a facebook addict and she has the hots for my laptop, as do I. She's even going so far as to say that she's going to take this laptop and this is her laptop when at Christmas, she gave ME the laptop and me only. I had to completely hook up the computer with anti-viruses and firewalls and if anything happened to it, it would be MY fault. Now I see it like this, if she takes this back then Christmas was for nothing. After all, I only got this laptop and some clothes so it wasn't like I had a massive amount of stuff that makes me want to go O_O. I shouldn't just give her the laptop because there's two computers in my room (She doesn't want the desktop because I guess she's freaking lazy) Now you may think, "Put the desktop in the living room or whatever and keep the latptop". No can-do. She wants a computer where she can lay down and browse and I can put the desktop in hell for all I care, the only people that would use it would just be me (Step-father is technologically stupid, brother's 7.) So I didn't pay for it, big whoop. I'm 15, no job what do you expect? That's like taking food of someone's refridgerator because they went food shopping last week. I'm willing to SELL it back to her, not give it to her. I feel as though if I give her the computer, I got jerked from Christmas and I would have nothing to look forward to about anything (who wants a sick computer?). Resolved Question: Help with computer viruses? Hard drives and operating systems? Please help!?

Hey there, so I'm kinda a noob when it comes to computers and stuff, so I wanna apologise in advance for, you know, trying to over explain something or for explaining something wrong or looking like an idiot by saying something daft or anything like that. I was wondering if someone could help explain to me what I would have to do in order to remove a trojan virus? Actually, I already know the basics of what to do, so really my question should be more around 'how do you split your computer into 2 sections (hard drives?) to be able to move everything from one side of the hard drive to the other (from A to B), then wiping out the one half of the hard drive (A), then moving everything from the other half of the hard drive to the the first side (from B to A, A being the empty hard drive), then wiping out the other side (B), then being able to reinstall the operating system and remove any viruses?' Resolved Question: My whole system is lagging like crazy. Wtf?

So, all of my programs were crashing randomly and making my computer freeze. My anti-virus didn't pick anything up, so I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled my OS (Vista. Yeah, I know it sucks.) Next day, same problem. I had visited a suspicious looking wallpaper site, but when I ran an anti-virus scan, still nothing. So, I formatted it AGAIN. Now I'm having the lagging/freezing problem STILL. It's everything. Winamp, firefox, iron, hell, even my emulators lag and freeze. Specs (just in case they're relevant): OS: Vista Home 32bit RAM: 3GB CPU: 2.1ghz (dual core) Hard Drive: 250GB Integrated 128MB Intel GPU I'm not sure about my sound, but that couldn't have anything to do with it anyway. Voting Question: Making the Most from Puppy Linux?

I'm becoming a bit of a Linux fanboy, if only for the reason that I like the variety of distros and demoing them. Then I heard about Puppy Linux, and the idea of running an OS from a CD or a USB drive gave me anxious shivers, realizing the possibilities of booting unbootable or virus wracked drives. I downloaded and installed lupu and am amazed by how responsive it is for being so small. I have a blank canvas, and my next question is where do I start? I really just want to know for lupu what are recommended programs that focus primarily on anti-virus/malware/spyware I could scan a hard drive with in addition to file recovery, maybe some bells and whistles like encryption or password protection (since as I've seen so far, there isn't true 'logging in/out' in lupu).
