Are Dolphins Smarter Than Humans Questions asked

Resolved Question: Are dolphins sentient and do they have a religion?

If they don't have have religion does that make them smarter than humans. The only reason they could have not done the inventions humans have is because they have no hands. more

Resolved Question: Why do some people say dolphins are smarter than humans?

I mean, come on dolphins are dumb, all they can do is catch fish, and we humans are way better at that than they will ever be. Plus we humans have technology, something dolphins are to dumb to make; dolphins have never made it to the moon, never made computers, atom bombs, they cant even read! more

Resolved Question: Does this quote have any relevance to the endless Christian v Atheist debate.....?

...we see here on R&S every day? "Humans think they are smarter than dolphins because we build cars and buildings and start wars etc...and all that dolphins do is swim in the water, eat fish and play around. Dolphins believe that they are smarter for exactly the same reasons." — Douglas Adams Congratulations! By reading the above you have qualified for the bonus question, lucky you! Bonus question - Do you consider yourself to be a human or a dolphin? (spiritually speaking of course;) Please include your religious affiliation or lack there of if you answer the bonus question. Just for my own amusement. Thank you :) more

Resolved Question: Mermaid or Whale...Which reflects the better you?

Recently, in large French city, a poster featuring a young, thin and tan woman appeared in the window of a gym. It said: "THIS SUMMER DO YOU WANT TO BE A MERMAID OR A WHALE?" A middle aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym. To Whom It May Concern: Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans). They have an active sex life, they get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with dolphins stuffing themselves with shrimp. They play and swim in the seas, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia , the Barren Sea and the coral reefs of Polynesia . Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CDs. They are incredible creatures and virtually have no predators other than humans. They are loved, protected and admired by almost everyone in the world. Mermaids don't exist. If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of Argentinean psychoanalysts due to identity crisis. Fish or human? They don't have a sex life because they kill men who get close to them not to mention how could they have sex? Therefore they don't have kids either. Not to mention who wants to get close to a girl who smells like a fish store? The choice is perfectly clear to me; I want to be a whale. P.S. We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver and a coffee with my friends. With time we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room it distributes out to the rest of our bodies. So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy. Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, "My, look how smart I am!"Gosh! I love you all, mermaids and whales alike. more

Resolved Question: Dolphins are the smartest animal next to humans, why nature desided to evolve the apes into humans?

Dolphins by scientists and many others are recognized as the smartest animals on the planet next to humans, Dolphins are peaceful, great animals , very playful and no threat to humans at all. unlike apes which they are violent. what would happen if nature decided to evolve the dolphins? i believe that would be create a much superior being than humans. i m not a fan of evolution , just making thoughtsi knew in this section will be the most evolutionists to answer my question and the most rude ones. like it or not, humans are not a product of evolution, we are superior and we are not from the apes or any kind of common ancestor.coder.head's , i totally agree with u, you are my best answer! more

Resolved Question: Are Dolphins Smarter than Humans?

Dolphins are widely considered the second smartest mammal after humans, but are they not the smarter of the two? Have you ever heard of a dolphin war?! I haven't. It could just be the liberal dolphin media not giving us the facts. Also, they can't take IQ tests because they don't have hands to hold pencils, and pencils don't work underwater. So we may never know the real answer. more

Resolved Question: Animals are better than humans, but whats your opinion?

I think they are. And no I'm not some child saying that because theyre cute or whatever. And no I'm not some sheltered rich girl either. I cant even BEGIN to describe how much I love animals more than humans. Save a stranger dog or stranger human? Dog. ESPECIALLY when it comes to domesticated animals. WE created them, so WE need to take care of them. And for all of you saying "well created them, so we can do whatever we want with them," then the same goes for children. Forget pro-life sh!t, why dont we just abuse, rape, and murder them? Although I hate this, dogs have been created as mindless slaves, so when we abuse them they have NO voice. And still end up loving you no matter what. Animals dont have wars. Animals arent racist. Animals arent manipulative, they are who they are with NO strings attached. Animals dont rape. (ONLY humans and dolphins do that sh!t for pleasure so stfu and get ur facts straight) Animals dont become crazy murders, killing many just for the hell of it. They dont become sociopaths. And the list trails on..... YET people, now that they have WEAPONS kill many animals JUST for their fur, or even just hell of it. Like wolves. Why are so many people against people standing up for animals, the ones without voices. THEY cant call the police if they are being beaten. WHY would ANYONE think that humans are superior? Because we are "smarter?" Animals have a greater sense of morality and survival, they deal with any pain nobly and dont whine. So what if they cant communicate, they still have emotions. Does a lion not mourn when her cub dies? Does a dog not rejoice in the return of its owner? Yet these poor beings are being treated like sh!t by soulless human b@stards. At the VERY LEAST animals should be seen as equal. So who here agrees with me? And who doesnt? I want to know your opinions. And JUST to piss off the ones that dont, heres a little story for you... I have 3 Siberian Huskies, and I love them to death. Would kill millions of humans for any one of them. They arent mindless, they do as they please and wont EVER listen to any human. Anyways, there were these 2 guys 1 year younger than me, taunting my dogs in my backyard. They were poking them with sticks, laughing. And so I ran outside, quiet so they wouldnt hear me. I grabbed the back of one of their heads and smashed his face into the asphalt. There was blood. I think I broke his nose. And once I reached for my shovel, those motherfuckers started running for their lives. Call me crazy, whatever. But now theyll think twice before f*cking with my dogs. Or any animal for that matter. Yeah, call me crazy, because I am human. But facts are still facts no matter what.at John W: oh so it doesnt matter once we suck the earth of all its resources? HA! i really would like u try to survive without water and lack of oxygen :] more

Resolved Question: If Gay Marriage leads you to marring livestock they why would the left push for it?

Think if you can marry you can vote We all know that all cows are almost ALL republicans ir at ber least right wing (i am a right wing libertarian). This is the same with monkeys (who should also get the rights being somewhat near human) Also Dolphins(who being smarter than most humans are all libertarian) gain the right to marry and vote thus making the sea the 51st and not to mention LARGEST state as it is essentially one mass of watter. it would also be the only vote that matters due to it population and the way Presidential election are run. This would DESTROY Democrats plansTrish you try typein with hooves and a chainsaw! then we talk more

Resolved Question: Are Dolphins really superior to humans?

Some woman was telling me that Dolphins are smarter than humans and communicate with Grey Aliens. Then I read somewhere, that Dolphins are as about as intelligent as a dog, wrote by a Marine Biologist. Who is right?? Dolphins that love humans... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj5Q3HfGfbU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLTx-LZX3XM more

Resolved Question: Could dolphins be more intelligent than us?

I dont mean to sound like a stoner but they are the smartest in the water, which is around 70% of all earth. So they kind of rule all that section. Could they just be watching humans destroy the earth? Are they just observing us as we destroy our own race? more

Resolved Question: Question about human intellect & evolution?

Basically this is how i think it went: DISTINCT vocal cord -> development of language -> High intelligence. Dolphins can also communicate to locate food, etc and i heard they are highly intelligent. I think communication played a vital role on this part. Monkeys can also communicate with each other...But they are not as smart as us. What exactly makes us intellectually superior than other animals? more

Resolved Question: Equality to animals: description is long, but doesn't take more than a few minutes to read - What do you think?

I believe humans are equal with all animals, if not, below them. Oh, you want reasons? You say God says that humans are, in fact, above animals? I'm a Christian, and I don't believe that at all. Now, in intellect, maybe. Then again, I'm sure there are some animals out there who are perfectly capable of passing us in the "intelligence rank". Anyway, I'm not talking about in intelligence. I'm talking about worth. How are we more important than them? I really can't think of a reason. Not too long ago, it's been proven that we are the cause of Global Warming. This is going to cause thousands of species to be extinct. Of both animals AND plants. Species we may actually learn from. Find cures, new foods (and I'm talking about fruits and vegetables, not animals), maybe even something that will show us the way out of Global Warming. You never know. And animals shouldn't be just to eat. Sure, I love chicken and hamburgers! But that's normal. The chicken and cow population isn't declining because of that. And anyway, animals eat other animals, right? And aren't humans just a complicated form of animal? Well, that's what I think anyway. And no matter what anyone says, I know for a FACT that animals have feelings and emotions. They have a heart and a brain, they're just as capable as having emotions as we are. And they can reason to an extent. Maybe if we really put time into teaching them what we know, they can reason just as well as we can. Dolphins, Elephants, Wolves, Dogs, Cats... they're all very smart. But there are too many people who think animals are inferior to humans to try any of that. It's a shame. And don't tell me that Oh, it's been tried before. I know it has. But there IS research going on right now, as we speak, with the testing of animal intelligence (mainly with dolphins and monkeys). And they're finding that, slowly but surely, they're learning everything humans can. We've deprived them of that for a long time. But now that people are actually trying, their brains have evolved more and they're able to somewhat communicate with us. If we learn to communicate, and we teach them what WE know, we could band together to stop all this. Imagine dolphins cleaning up the pollution in ocean waters! Or carnivorous animals becoming herbivores, allowing other species to thrive. Now that's a perfect world. A lot of people look at animals as 'just food', or means of enjoyment (pets). I know plenty of people who don't take care of their pets very well. And I think if you're not going to care for that animal properly, don't get a pet at all. I have 2 gerbils, and they're both as happy as can be. I clean their cage at least once a week, or when it gets smelly. Me and my sister also take them out for exercise and play with them everyday. They get all the love and care needed. And everyone I know sees that. Animals keep this world in balance, and humans unbalance it. The overall animal population is rapidly declining, and soon there won't be enough animals to KEEP this world balanced. Humans are causing the "death" of the Earth. Oh, by the way, I just thought you'd like to know: in all, between 3 and 6 million people around the world die each year. From everything, I mean. The war, heart disease, cancer, natural death, etc. And in U.S. laboratories alone, over 70 million animals die due to animal testing. That's because of things like make-up. Just take time to think about it, ok? I don't believe everything the Bible says. I just believe that their is a loving, caring God out there. And that their was a Jesus Christ. Who did give his life for us. But, for example, the saying in the Bible that I believe says: "Do not lean on your own understanding, but look to God" or something of that nature, I believe is totally bogus. Why would I not use my mind? I may only be 14 years old, but I do believe I have a great understanding of the world around me. Most obviously greater than that of some people. Go ahead, say how naive I am. I might be wrong. But you may wanna think about all this before you do say anything negative. Who knows? I may be right. What do YOU think? This is not just a "kiddy" conversation. Most " little kids" (or what I assume to be 'kids' = under 11 yrs) wouldn't understand this. And I'm not saying I understand everything. I'm just saying that I know what's right and wrong, and that I understand animals, unlike some people.Randolpho- Oh, no, of course not. I used to have a friend like that. He tried to make everyone believe what he did. I went through it, it was annoying, and I'd NEVER do that to anyone. (unless someone challenged me to, or said animals are absolutely worthless unless you're talking about food)a h - You're absolutely arrogant. I do not, as you say "beat my gerbils". Properly caring for them is not beating them. They like to be taken out. They get excited when they see us coming in the room, and run to the door of their cage. Obvoiusly, they like us. We are not, as you say, "beating them". Therefore, I cannot answer that so-called simple yes or no question, because I never "beat" my gerbils to begin with. I love them.Ok, well then. xD I get it, but still. You shouldn't be toying with peoples reactions like that. Anyway, I gtg. Cousins birthday! =3 more

Resolved Question: Questions about Evolution?

first of all, I'd like to say that I accept Evolution and Natural selection as scientific fact, I'm not here to say that it is wrong and that God created the earth, blah blah blah. I just really have some serious questions about evolution that I would like answered. Also, be aware that I do know the basics behind the theory of evolution by natural selection, I'm currently taking a university course about it, so no need to explain the basics :) I guess my main question involves something I read recently. It said that dolphins have an average IQ that is higher than a 4 year old child. I thought this was interesting because humans seem to be so "far ahead" of dolphins so to speak. four year old children have language skills, they can reason, they have emotions. So why is it that humans are so far apart from other animals. I know that there was a time when Humans did not have language, and other things, but at what point did that come about? I just find it hard to fathom that dolphins can be that smart! So, theoretically, if it increased a dolphin's evolutionary fitness, will they eventually be able to speak? and reason? and feel emotions like we do? and become civilized? why is it that humans are the only civilized species? I know this is a loaded question, so if you have any good books I could read, please feel free to mention them! thanks so much!NeoNerd: I dont think that way actually, thats why I mentioned that "if it would increase their evolutionary fitness", obviously the acquisition of language would not be beneficially for dolphins, because they live under water.Reportin: I'm not an atheist, actually.ok, I was hoping that I would get answers from scientists, hense why I asked it in the biology section! dont tell me about God! believe it or not, I already know about god, I am a christian, but I am a christian who realizes that evolution is a fact. more

Resolved Question: The End Of Humanity~How It Will Happen?

The End Of The World is inevitable, that is true and always will be true, but the End of Humanity is different. If you know about the White Man's Burden, then surely you will know about the Human's Burden. Us humans, perhaps the smarted living organisms on the earth (maybe, except republicans), we have a job and role in life and that is to change the world. Dolphins are not going to change the world, neither are elephants nor trees. Us humans are the only of Earth's species to develop Unlimited Knowledge. Why is that? Is the world such an odd place that only ONE out of millions of species of animals will gain suprerior knowledge? Our minds are our power and we use them to shape our world and perhaps in the future, other worlds as well. Back on topic. The End of Humanity is the day God is proven non-existant. Nearly all of the people of earth have set their mind on believing that some super-natural being created the world and governs it. Science is always disproving this and made the Big Bang theory to counter this. The Big Bang theory is still a work in progress and people have still yet to find the reason what caused the creation of the universe. Many people will try to deny the existence of a God and many people will continue their blind faith of a suprerior being. Almost everyone in the world is brainwashed by the Idea of Religion. Religion makes people go. Religion is the ultimate question. What will happen when Religion is stripped from humanity? This will happen sooner or later... if we aren't killed off by a super-virus or nuclear war first. it is inevitable. Many people have said to me when I asked the question "If God is the Creator, Who Created the Creator?" "Don't think about it, because it is uncomprehendable." "Just believe it. Don't try to wrap your brain around it" "I Don't Know, you shouldn't either" Why must you continue to deny yourself the right to think? We humans, we are born thinkers and to deny us to think would make us less intelligent than our predecessors, the monkeys. There must ALWAYS be an answer and Humans will ALWAYS try to find one. This is the burden of Man: Curiosity. As long as we aren't brain-dead, this will always remain in our minds, no matter how hard we try to rid of it. Now with the Atom Collider, Humanity is one step closer to finding out the ulimate answer (which isn't 42 btw), so how long before we finally reach our destination? This question is not about my opinions nor my thoughts. I ask of everyone who is reading this to give me an answer and try to think hard before you do: Must God Exist To Prevent Humanity From Collapsing? Religion was created to substitute as an answer to everything, and now with science, the idea of Religion is nearing an end. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. You can call me MichaelFrozen, am I too deep in thought or have I not thought about this enough? You've changed your answer twice alreadyPluto, it's better to talk about the future so you can better prepare for it, ie: Hurricane Katrina.Sylph, your reasoning doesn't prove god exists. What makes you sure that we are the only universe in...well, there is no greater word than universe, so ill just say entity. You cannot just believe something to be true without first giving a reason why you think it is true and how the thing came to be true. God might or might have created the universe, OR something beyond our universe, which is not God, created our universe. This never-ending cycle will continue to the reaches of our universe and when we find no God in our universe, that will be the end for us. I believe God is needed to maintain world stability, no matter how ridiculous the idea of religion.Frozen, BTW, what makes your books holy? Why isn't newton's law book of physics holy, after all, it is recognized by man as fact worldwide, just like the bible? more

Resolved Question: Why did human evolve from a dolphins?

I found about a the world smartest mammal is this dolphins, and about how smart they are. They have use of more brains than we do and they have the worlds oldest language but we can't figure it out because we're not smart enough. And how they can read minds like telephothy and about how they can use pshychic waves to kill a shark! And a human cant. So if we evlove from dolphins why are they still smarter, or did we devolve from them? Or did it just like split in two and we are half, and they went the other half and at first we were both the same smart but they kept evolving they psychics and got super dolphin genius and we are just regular brains humans? more

Resolved Question: What are the smartest animals in order of intelligence?

I would think there is no definitive way of defining an animal smarter than another but humor me. Bonobos, chimpanzees, bottle nose dolphins, and elephants are on my radar for the smartest animals. Does anyone know which of these animals are the "smartest"... a list in order would be awesome. Some facts I have learned about some of these animals: - chimps and bonobos are the closest relative to the definitive smartest animal... humans - bottlenose dolphins have been seen to display empathy, communicate in complex manners, use "names" for themselves, and use tools - elephants have culture in the form of burying their dead, moving disturbed elephant bodies to spot of death, staying around dead (relative or non-relative) long after they certanty of death, and they have also been seen to protect other animals and humans from danger or help them when in distress I find advanced intelligence of other animals very interesting. more

And does this dispell the evolution argument, at least for humans. I'm not a creationist or a Christian, but I don't believe our extreme intellegince could have come by chance. Resolved Question: All of you better read this!?

I know this isn't about dating and relationships but I figured, most people would be surfing questions here. So, in Japan, it's legal to slaughter dolphins and I think it's inhumane. I know a lot of people would say, "what about the fishes? pigs? cows?" Well, we're used to eating other animals and dolphins? Dolphins is one of the smartest animals in the ocean and affectionate to humans. It has been proven that dolphins give aid to humans in the ocean. So I suggest everyone support and stop Japan from slaughtering dolphins- -(more than 22,000 dolphins a year in Japan). Please spread the news and put a stop to killing dolphins and whales. Thank you. more

Resolved Question: Are mammals closest to human size the smartest?

In general, we believe the smaller the animal, the less intelligent. The larger the animal past the size of humans, the less intelligent (in general). Dolphins are smarter than Hippos that are smarter than Elephants.I agree with you. I point out a bias we have thinking that the very small or very large are somehow less intelligent. Is a cat smarter than a mouse because of size alone? I do not know. more

Resolved Question: Do U think animals are smarter than what we give credit?

Being taught from childhood that we are at the top of the food chain and that animals are here to obey and eat somehow lessens the fact that they are really intelligent in their own realm. So many animals, dolphins, dogs, cats, horses, pigs, birds, etc. have saved humans (documented) and have a connection with us. Because they can't talk and don't have motor skills their value is lessened. I have a remarkable relationship with my pets. They understand hand signals and they make eye contact when they need something, they understand words, follow and watch my actions and know my daily routine. What do you think? more

Resolved Question: Stupid activists like PETA?

Okay, I am having a big problem with all the stupid activists in this country PETA is one of them that really tans my hide. What is the point, animals were put on this earth to provide us food, and whatever else we need. that includes testing and other things. I totally believe in killing a monkey or 2 if it is going to save the life of thousands of humans. It's called natural selection, the stronger biengs do what they want with the weaker, we are definetly stronger than a chimp and smarter than a cow. We are in total right to eat any animal we want... I LOVE ME SOME STEAK!!!! and to all of you Vegans out there, Tofu and Soy crap is disgusting eat a hot dog or two and gain some weight, it is totally against all human nature to not eat meat, our bodies were designed to digest it and take nutrients from it, Human life is more prescious than any stupid animal and we need to survive any way we can, even if we need to kill a dolphin or a monkey to do it more

Resolved Question: Could dolphins be the true spiritual gurus?

Dolphins seem to be just as smart if not smarter than humans, although this is impossible to measure until we understand them a lot better. They seem to be moral creatures. An entire pod of dolphins will risk their lives to save a mother and child dolphin. There have been reports of dolphins circleing human surfers to keep sharks away. They form relationships and are extremely affectionate with one another. Unlike human, they don't stop the very important touch play when they grow up. While human friends sometimes hug, dolphins do their version of hugging constantly. Also, they just seem to be really happy all the time. Often on an overcast day they are out not far from me when I go surfing. They seem to get a kick of surfing along side humans, and will put on a show for bystanders at the beach. I've never seen creatures enjoy life more. I wish I knew their secret. Does it seem they're more spiritually developed to you? more

Resolved Question: Are animals clever or a bit dumb?

Everyone is always banging on about how clever dolphins are for example, and all I see them do is swim around and eat a bunch of fish all day. Ok, they can dive through hoops and stuff but that doesn't make them smart like people. Anyone kid could do that and we wouldn't all be saying. ''god that kid is so smart he can swim through a hoop''!! Same with dogs, I mean they are nice but if they are so smart why can't they talk properly instead of meaningless barking all the time? I think humans are much smarter than animals and everyone is just far too sentimental these days about them. more

Resolved Question: Are animals wiser than us?

I don't mean smarter. I know that humans are the "smartest" species. Yet look at us, living complicated lives, creating wars, letting members of our species starve just because they don't have pieces of green paper to buy food and polluting the environment. Slaving away our entire lives working for some idiot than inherited a corporation and millions from his parents without moving a muscle. Look at us, wating our lives with meaningless jobs, worrying about love and philosophical questions that we cannot answer, fighting against each other in a stupid rat-race. And then look at the animals, only worrying about the basic stuff, having food, shelter and being happy with so little. They don't complicate their lives with ideologies, nationalities, racial discrimination, religion, or meaningless jobs. They don't ask what's their purpose in life, they just live and enjoy the ride. Look at the birds singing, at the dogs frolicking in the grass, at the dolphins jumping happily.Look at them and their simple and happy lives. Look at us and our complicated livestyles. Our mindless pollution, our slow self-destruction with drugs or tobacco. The unnecessary worries we create for ourselves, when life is really so easy. Could it be, that animals are wiser than us? more
