Open Question: Conservatives, taking the Bible into account, what would do if the world ended tomorrow?

Given that the Bible says all of these things, doesn't that mean the conservative policies are NOT Christian? How would you explain this when your judged by your creator? Obviously you can't blame conservative social & economic policies on Obama & liberals when you talk to God, so how would you explain the fact you supported policies that went against the Bible? Voting Question: Looking for a better recipe for rice....?

I was taught to make rice like this: 1 c white long grain rice Melt small amount of butter in cast iron skillet. Add rice and brown on medium heat. Add 1 3/4 cup water. Place lid on it. Bake at 450 degrees for about 20 minutes. This rice is so bland and dry that we serve it with brown gravy over the top-which I know is NOT healthy. I'm going to be a junior next year, and I've been thinking about colleges a lot recently. I was wondering which of the following schools you guys think I could get into with these credentials. TARGET SCHOOLS: --Northwestern --Rutgers (Camden) --Rutgers (New Brunswick) --NYU --University of Southern California --Brown' --Penn State Oh, and I live in Arizona, so these are all out-of-state. ACADEMICS: --3.85 GPA unweighted, 4.0 weighted. My school doesn't have class rankings, so I can't tell you what percentile of my class I'm in. --I've taken 1 AP class so far (European History) and got a 4 on the exam. Next year, I'm scheduled to take AP US History and English Literature, and senior year I plan on taking AP Gov, Spanish and English Language. --As a sophomore, I got a 198 on my PSAT's: 61 in Math, 70 in Reading, 67 in writing. EXTRACURRICULARS: --I've been in Speech & Debate since Freshman year, and served as both club President and Debate Captain (one of three student leaders involved in teaching the new members) my Sophomore year. I was recently re-elected to the position. --In two years, I have received two first place awards for debate and one for impromptu speaking, as well as a 2nd and 3rd place award, all for state-wide tournaments. I've also received a 4th place award at a multi-state competition. --I was involved with Skills USA, a media production club, my Freshman and Sophomore years, serving as Secretary my Sophomore year. Ok I'm a 26 year old girl using a guy screen name i know..but...im 5'10 130 lbs and for a long time everyone told me be a model you look good in clothes ...i tried out for americas next top model twice when they had casting calls here..but nothing...and theres one casting call left and i have to make a video and send it in by next week. well my depression prevents me from doing a lot and usually i can control it and be a happy energetic positive person...ive been through a lot since i was 14...however, i am almost done with my undergrad in speech pathology...but its summer now and i have a break and im going kinda nuts with nothing to do...looking for a part time job in the meantime,,,,but should i make the video and send it in , trying out for the third time? i guess it wouldnt hurt...i feel like i missed my moment to become one though...even though their age requirement goes up to 27 i feel like its a joke because its reality television and tyra is all about TYRA! i also have to go to grad school for 2 years...which sucks cuz ill be 28 when i finish school and finally make something of myself...i wanna do something big with my life NOW...everyone else has nice jobs that pay well..theyre my age and they move to California and do whatever they want...i have no freedom and i feel trapped....i hate feeling sorry for myself...i get in these depressing moods once in a while...what should i do with my time...modeling is hard to get into you gotta have that drive and i feel like i lack the motivation..im trying to remain realistic too thats why i go to college. im confused as to why im even alive i don't even serve a purpose. please no mean answers. more

Resolved Question: what must we do to go into the kingdom of god?

I can't believe im still asking this after 2 years of being christian... First, i know we must believe in jesus and that he is god, but that isn't enough. Jesus said few will enter. Many people are christian. He said on judgment day people will come to him and say "lord, did we not prophesies in your name? Or cast out devils?" They believed in jesus. Voting Question: Do I even need a waiver for a fractured ankle?

You may think it is insignificant about your ankle, but i have served with many people whom came in with this type of wavier. They ended up being discharged for medical or preexisting injury. If you are joining the Marines or Army, you will be doing a lot of running, road marches and training that put a tremendous amount of stress on your feet/ankles. I knew the military had started being more strict on what they will give a wavier for. Maybe they should let you experience basic training first to see if your ankle will hold up, and if you pass that, give you a contract. I know it sounds crazy but i have seen a lot of new recruits come in and not be able to do anything shortly after Basic and AIT training.. Resolved Question: Broadway-Themed Sweet Sixteen ideas?

Hi, everyone! My sweet sixteen is coming up on the twenty-sixth of July, and I'm a major theatre geek, as are most of my friends. So, I decided to have a Broadway-themed party. I'm having everyone come dressed as a character from his/her favorite Broadway play, and I plan to make a big movie-esque poster of the "cast" of the party itself using said characters. I'm also setting up each different table in the likeness of a different Broadway play. (i.e., a green Wicked table, a table with toy cats for CATS, and a Phantom of the Opera table complete with blood-red punch and masks) The main activities will be Broadway karaoke, dancing, and a movie marathon outside with a bunch of different musical movies. However, I need a little help. I'm lost as to what favors to give to my guests. I found websites that offered personalized mint tins that I could put my name on, along with a Broadway-ish decal, but I was thinking of something more...Theatrical? Could anyone give me any suggestions? Also, I'm planning to serve New York-inspired food. So far, I'll be giving hot dogs, funnel cake, and black and yellow cookies (taxi-themed). I'm at a loss as to what else to give as food, and what to serve as drinks sans the usual sodas. I myself am a witch and yes a cauldron stirring, spell casting, card carrying witch. I live in Connecticut and today I told my cousin I was a witch. She threatened a restraining order then threatened to call the FBI. I have a hard time thinking it's good while I'm going through it, but years later I might realize that this brought me to a higher level spiritually as it forced me to run to Jesus. In our American politics, there seem to be a hostility to religious values or am I reeading the wrong papers? The Hostile Spiritual Takeover of Our Nation Anyone who has watched national politics closely in the past year and a half has seen a panoply of aggressive political moves that are reported about in hostile terms. There are government “takeovers” of huge industries, public officials “moving against” businesses and individuals, court decisions “striking down” statutes and executive initiatives “attacking” fundamentally sane institutions and plans. Even in times of war, I don’t think we have ever had such violent social and political maneuvering in our public life. The worst aspect of it is that all the rapaciousness is directed inward. If we were laying waste the enemies of the innocent citizens of our society in the same way we are consuming our own healthy institutions, how different our public life would be! The current hostile initiatives are nothing of the sort, however. They are essentially demonic takeovers of sacred institutions by the pagans who hold the reins of power. Let me be clear: I am not saying that our public officials are demons. I am saying that they are acting like demons. Demons lie, cheat and steal – obsessively. It is their nature. Once the demons rejected God, they fell into a dark world devoid of love and dominated by the ethic of the survival of the fittest where “might is right”. The human beings that serve them act in much the same way when they implement their agendas and policies. Whenever they are in control of institutions or governments, they lie, cheat and steal. In their minds, they are right because they have the might – and to the victors go the spoils. But what did we expect, really? Our nation elected unabashedly pagan representatives who are possessed of a tapestry of unclean ideologies who have an almost religious fervor in advancing their control over greater sectors of our common life and economy. The sad part is that these people who govern us are simply being true to their convictions: before the election, they were not abashed in telling us how radical they are, and now we are reaping the fruits of the demonic agenda of the death and destruction that they have brought with them. I would despair of this situation had I not met so many decent and God-fearing Americans who do not agree with the mainstreaming of paganism into our culture. I have met the virtuous side of America, and it is to these that I write these words of encouragement: be strong! We must be true to the core Christian principles that made this nation great! Be not afraid of the severe conflicts with the pagan world that we will have to endure in the very near future. We are not alone in this battle. There are many more moral and decent Americans than we realize. It’s just that the good ones are busy about raising families and keeping the basic fabric of our society intact. They are not the hedonists and manipulators that strive obsessively to control public discourse and institutions. They are there in the background and form the true foundation of our society. In time, the proper spiritual leadership will emerge which will bind us together and form us into a fighting force called the Church Militant – the only spiritual force that can truly resist the hostile spiritual takeover of our nation. Let us not forget, however, that we must get down on our knees and beg, plead, and implore God to restore our once-great nation to its grandeur. We will not see the dawn of a renewed nation without prayer and sacrifice. The momentum of righteousness, consisting of all the humble goodness taking place at the grass-roots level of the Church and society, will eventually build, and we will take back our nation – not only at the ballot box but above all in the hearts and minds of all those who love God and are doing their best to love their neighbor. We will then be able to cast out the unclean spirits that are destroying everything that we hold sacred, and society will once again be governed by righteous men. For such an end we place our deepest hope in Christ, our true and only Savior! An idea I had about getting rid of overweightness and obesity: by forcing people to DEAL WITH IT. We'll weigh the individual on an accurate scale. Next, we'll compare their actual body weight to what they SHOULD weigh if they weren't such a disgusting, self-serving, lazy fatbody. Then, we'll subtract that ideal number from their actual weight. For example, let's say we have some woman who is 5'5" tall and she weighs 180 pounds. Well, in a healthy world, she shouldn't weigh any more than between 110 to 130 pounds. So then... if we subract 130 (ideal) from 180 (fatso), then we end up with a difference of 50 pounds. So now, let's FORCE HER to DEAL WITH IT. Let's melt down exactly 50 pounds of lead and then cast it into the shape of an anchor. Next, let's chain that customized lead anchor to her ankle and then toss the revolting little fatbody into the sea. After being FORCED to DEAL with it, she'll probably drown, of course. It's awfully hard to stay afloat with 50 pounds of solid lead dragging you downwards. Especially when you're so fat that you barely have the strength to keep your own lardass afloat, let alone with another 50 lbs. of dead weight hanging from your chubby ankles. See... if she had only been like 10 pounds overweight, then she would have been able to DEAL WITH IT and survive. It's not hard to swim with an extra 10 pounds of dead weight hanging from your ankle. But in this case, she'll drown... and she has only her own extreme slobbiness to blame. Well, that and the fact that we threw her into the ocean. But that's her problem. This is the ending to my novel, I do not know why I wrote it before I even wrote the beginning, but I did. Anyway, here you are. So it is not confusing, it is a letter from one man to another after not speaking for nearly ten years. Also, I know it is rather cliché, bear with me. Dear Grey, I have written you many letters throughout the years in which I have not seen you, years in which I have tried to forget you. Although I did try to forget you, I did not want to; thus the creation of these letters. Letters that served as distant memories between us, a faint remnant of our togetherness. Letters that you will never read or know of. This letter will be my last to you. I suppose you want to know why it is that I left, the real reason. When we were together, society had already cast me aside. I was antisocial; not because I could not be social, but because I refused. I did not speak to anybody; I did not want to. One morning I admitted to myself that I was gay. My family, my ignorant, ugly family who looked down upon those unlike themselves would not accept me, I knew. So, I had two options: I could either repress my emotions, get married, have children and live a life of normalcy...or I could kill myself. I wanted to take my own life because of a lifestyle that I did not even choose for myself. I planned it, my darling. But before I rendered it, you arrived in my life, Grey.
