Are You Being Served Merchandise Questions asked

Open Question: How would I organize a flash mob? Is it legal too?

Okay so a little back story... I lived in Maryland until June of last year when I moved. Prior to moving I had several people in and out of my home repairing and cleaning things. We also ate out a lot so there is many ways a person could have had access to our credit card. On the 8th of February someone started making small mail charges here and there. They said "Royal Mail" which I now know is the Great Brittan mail system, but with my husband in Iraq, working in a Palace I assumed he was sending our kids gifts. - It turns out these were "tester charges" and they ranged from $2 - $11 and there were about 15 of them. Finally I asked my husband about them and he said they weren't from him so we disputed them. His credit card was turned off but as it turns out, a day too late. The very next day a charge posted to our account for nearly $500 from a dot com company. The scam artist had done it again and gotten away with it. When I contacted the company I found out that they'd already sent out the merchandise but they gave me the address and name it was sent to. It was sent to my husband, and also confirmed through a fake e-mail address with my husband's name in it, but to an address in Maryland, the same town we lived in until June of last year! The local (to MD) law enforcement is blowing it off and the bank has bigger fish to fry. This person is not going to see an ounce of justice. I imagine we're not the only ones they've taken advantage of and gotten away with it.. They are stealing from people and not seeing any consequences.. So my idea is a Justice/Flash Mob... I was thinking we could try and get 50 people (if not more) to show up next Monday at 7pm. Chant "Justice will be served, 3 times at 7:02 and then drop hand written notes that say "The person in apartment 104 steals credit card information and money" "You've been outed" "Justice will be served" - Which might leave a hint of a threat lingering in the air but the real meaning of "justice will be served" would be because of the embarrassment if neighbors heard it and saw the notes. What do you think? I'm trying to figure out how to do it. - I don't know where to post it and I really don't know how to get a bunch of people to actually show up and do it. Any ideas? Is there not a website somewhere for listing Flash Mobs? more

Resolved Question: Can you visualize a NFL playoff season without the Pittsburgh Steelers?

I can't! This is still hard to believe. The Steelers are not in the playoffs this year. The Bengals don't deserve to be in that 8itch. They got blown out by the Jets. It was so funny. Yeah, I'm hating on the Bengals so what. They made it like once a blue moon when the Steelers do it on the regular, they don't belong in place of the Steelers. Now, Steven Jackson is the 2nd leading rusher this year on the worst team the Rams. Damn! This was one heck of a year. I'm so glad the Eagles got beat. I hate Donovan McNapps! LOL "McNapps" Brett Favre is going to do great, Peterson is going to make up for the whole regular season in the playoffs...you just wait and see! I predict a 250 yard rushing game from him in one of these postseason games. The Saints aren't doing bad, they're taking a break. They knew that they had the division clinched so why waste all that energy on the last couple of games. People will be saying the Saints are hot again, when they knew all along they were hot the whole time even the last few games. It's called Relaxation before the playoff games folks. LOL Giants got served by the Vikings bad! LOL Chargers aren't going to do nothing as always. People love them anyway. It's harmless, no threat from the Chargers winning a Super Bowl. Cardinals have a nasty defense, real quick lineman. Vikings had a hard time against them a few games ago. Bill Cowher is coaching the Buffalo Bills ya'll next year! We are going to see Super Bills again! The 90s are back folks. I'm about to buy Buffalo Bills merchandise before they blow up and become a great dynasty again. This is the decade for the Buffalo Bills in the next few years.LOL...Hey Paul in San Diego. Guess what? The Bengals got blown out by the Jets this last game in NY, what an embarrassment! That doesn't say belong in playoffs to me. LOL Also, about the Chargers, that's just dead conversation. The last time the Chargers went to a Super Bowl was like one time in the 1990s. Good luck for that happening. It's amazing how so many people love the Chargers but yet don't have as many Super Bowls as the Steelers. My Steelers are better than your Chargers any day of the year even out of the Playoffs because we have 6 Super Bowls to maybe San Diego Chargers 1 or 2, and they didn't win either one. Pittsburgh rules San Diego drools! LOLHey Donna's Bad Boy. You didn't see that Vikings vs Cardinals game did you? They stopped Adrian Peterson and Brett Favre the whole Vikings which I like a lot.(Vikings) You've got to respect the way they played that game. I know my football you were just seeing what you wanted to see and I was seeing what I wanted to see. Steelers will be back next year. Possibly another Super Bowl win after all we have 6 Super Bowls. I must know about football, I know how to pick my teams. Winners and not losers. We have more Super Bowl wins than any other NFL team. I must know how to pick my NFL teams. LOL Not picking teams like Chargers, Bengals, and other subpar teams in the NFL. LOL Better become a Steelers fan if you want to have bragging rights on Super Bowl wins or else you'll have to settle for 2nd best bragging rights. LOL Hahahahaha! more

Resolved Question: Canadians has the media done enough to let you know about the rules around sending soldiers Christmas gifts?

Packages not addressed to a specific person also represent a security concern. “We have to look at the safety of our troops, as well,” Menzies said. “So we just can’t take any package that isn’t properly addressed.” But Menzies said the Forces encourages support for troops. “Few things mean more to our men and women overseas than hearing from their fellow Canadians,” he said. “The knowledge that their contribution is appreciated and is making a difference is a primary motivating factor in what they accomplish.” Menzies said the best way to show support is to post electronic messages, or send letters or postcards through the mail. As well, Canadians can purchase Support Our Troops merchandise, and can donate to several fundraising efforts where all money raised goes to soldier programs. Friends and family addressing packages to specific soldiers overseas can send their mail, for the fourth year in a row, free of charge through Canada Post. Meanwhile, Operation Santa Claus ensures that the almost 3,000 Canadians serving in 15 operations overseas — including 2,830 soldiers in Afghanistan — will have something to open for the Yuletide season. “The outpouring of support from Canadians has been fantastic,” Menzies said. “Especially at this time of year, being away from family and friends, any type of support from Canadians is much appreciated.” http://www.windsorstar.com/news/Windsor+woman+care+package+runs+afoul+Canadian+Forces/2257855/story.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEsJB80R2TMhttp://www.youtube.com/user/OleTrout#p/a/u/0/3h8hiHDZ44U more

Resolved Question: Do Employees Work Better in Pairs?

Hey everyone, my name's Nick. I ask this question today because this relates to my job, and it is a question I often wonder about. I work as a bakery stock clerk at Albertson's, and almost always, my main duty is to work the closing shift. I often have to perform this shift alone and all of the responsibilities of closing are usually left to me alone. I usually come into work at 5:00 and clock out at 9:00. That leaves me four hours to get my work done. Depending on how much the day crew has accomplished, my usual tasks include: helping customers, stocking shelves, washing dishes, sweeping and mopping the floor, cleaning the work area (tables, counters, etc.), emptying the self-serve case (where you get doughnuts, muffins, cookies, etc.) and if necessary, packaging items or panning up items to be baked the next day. Some days are not very stressful, but most times I find myself over-whelmed at all that has to be done and fearful that if I don't get everything done, my boss will be angry with me, which has occurred in the past. Now, my present manager is very patient, and has proven to be the most patient manager I've had thus far, but she is only the interim manager, as my old manager is out because of surgery recovery and will be back soon. I enjoy certain parts of my job, but the mere fact of always feeling stressed to get everything done gets to me sometimes. I wish that someone else could close with me, and my main reasoning for this is that while one person does the cleaning and straightening up aspects of the job, another could be focused on stocking the shelves and making sure all of the merchandise is either prepared for the next day or is put out. It seems that this is only a wish and not reality, but this is my question today to all of you, do you agree that employees work better in pairs, or do you think an employee is more useful on their own? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: URGENT! I'm about to make a phone call for a job and I need help with my pitch?

Okay first of all, I am so excited haha. Some Victoria Jackson reps sold me $110 of cosmetics for $20. YAY. And then she asked me if I was working, which I am not, and then she gave me her boss' number to call and talk to about getting a job with them. :D I desperately need a job and I'm having a real hard time finding one and I love Victoria jackson products xD I have not had much experience in the work place as I only just turned 18 on Sunday. I'm still waiting for my tax file number as the ATO is taking forever to send it to me. I no longer go to school as I finished last year so I am able to work full time. I have no other commitments that I can not alter for this. So please help me with my pitch? I was thinking something along the lines of "Hey I'm Kelley (last name). I'm a friend of Thaksuala's and she recommended that I gave you a call seeking employment. Now I am young. I've just had my 18th birthday however, I am very mature and quite capable of handling myself and dealing with the public. Not to mention that it is often commented on how approachable I am. I have completed my VCE (which is the last two years of high school where I live) and have no other commitments that will get in the way of working for you and am available to work for you full time. Now because I am so young, my experience in the work place is limited. I have however, volunteered my time as a trainee for 3 mobile for a week where I was able to gain experience in visual merchandising, stock updates and updating client details. I also worked for a short time at Top Bakery in (suburb) serving customers. This was something I really enjoyed. I love interacting with others and so serving the customers was something that was naturally enjoyable for me. Unfortunately, Top Bakery was in the process of switching Managers and when the new managers hired me they did not realise how in debt the old ones were and they were not able to afford to keep me as an employee. Now there is one small problem. The Australian Tax Office has not yet sent me my Tax File Number. I suspect I should receive it within the next two weeks. However I am able to work for you as soon as you wish. I would also love it if you gave me fan opportunity to prove myself to you. I will work for a week or two without pay while waiting for my Tax File Number if necessary. Okay so I've never had to sell myself to anybody before and am completely clueless hahaha. Can you guys PLEASEEe help me? more

Resolved Question: my brother is incarcerated till September, we have to come up with 2700 dollars before then?

This has been an ongoing trial and a real nightmare for my entire family. Basically to make a long story short, because it's complicated, my brother was charged as a felon for breaking and entering, stole merchandise, no one was hurt or home thank God, sentenced to 5 months and 1 year probation, the original sentence was 15 years max. He also is supposed to pay restitution for the victims. After he served his time, the probation officer helped him find a job, however he wasn't able to pay all the restitution because his job was only seasonal and he was out of work for a couple of months. A warrant was put out for his arrest when the victim complained about the money, and he was sent back to jail, now awaiting for his trial in september, he's been in there since June 2009. He has to come up with 2700 dollars by then for the victim, and hopefully the judge will release him. Since he is incarcerated, we have to come up with 2700 dollars. We've gone to a flea market twice to sell some things, profit so far, about 700 dollars. We can't think of anything else to sell; we've sold a boat, kayak, video games, game stations, tv, and a couple other little things. My aunt is very depressed and so am I. She can't borrow anymore money, she's tapped out. I want to help, but am struggling myself with my loans. I need a good way to make at least a thousand dollars, legal, and legit. It seems most online money making sites are scams. I will do anything that's legal and not endangering my life. I just want him out of there, so we can put this behind us. I am not excusing for what he did, it was stupid, but he was very young then and very foolish and stupid. I believe he has learned his lesson and feels remorse for what he's done. We just want him out, because my aunt says being in jail can change you, and make you start thinking you're nothing but a criminal and you get in a mindset that is damaging, I don't want that to happen to him, I love him and I want him back. Please I need suggestions, ideas, anything you have? more

Resolved Question: 9 months since I was caught. Shoplifting charges?

I know my life is a mess and I'm getting therapy, so please no negative remarks. I'm currently on probation till Nov 09 for stolen property 1st degree felony (occured in 2006). I served 6 months home detention for the same offence. Somehow I stupidly stole $25 worth of merchandise in Oct 2008 while I was working as a promotor in a store (I'm consider guest of the store). The merchandise was removed from the store but my guilt starts eating me out and so I returned the merchandise to the store and paid for them. The manager confronted me AFTER I paid for them and I had told her I left my wallet in my car. She let me off after my shift but told me she has to report to loss prevention and it's up to LP to see what they want to do. About 3 months later (Jan 09), I found out that my ex-boss (whom I was convicted for stealing and currently serving probation for) was informed that I stole. 1) Why would they inform my ex-boss? How did they find out his infomation? I was working for another company then and did not remember providing my previous employment history. 2) I quit my job since Oct 2008 and has yet to hear from any one (found out about my ex boss knowledge from ex co-worker). My probation officer whom I report to on a monthly basis mentioned nothing; No letter of civil demand; No phone calls from the store nor any of my ex-employer. Are they still planning a case against me? 3) I'm not sure what the survillence camera caught, how long do they keep the info? Technically she didn't caught me stealing (even though that was the original intent :() but the camera may indicate otherwise. What charges can they file against me? 4) I am actrively in therapy and have been clean since, am I in jeopardy still after 9 months to be prosecuted? How long do they have to come after me? Thank you. more

Resolved Question: Petty Theft in CA of $45. What should I do?

I am 19 years old and this is my first offense. I just got a job part time because I know there will be fines to pay. Im a full-time student at community college and I rely solely on financial aid to do so. About a month ago I was caught shop lifting $45 dollars worth of merchandise from a store at a mall. On my ticket (which is very hard to read) misdemeanor is circled and the code appears like it says 455. What is that? I've tried looking it up but cant find anything on 455. I do not have money for an attorney, will a public defender help me out enough? And I am aware that I will have to pay a fine and probably have to do community service. Does anyone know how much the fine might be for $45? And do I have to pay it in full? And am I given a date by which I have to pay it? What are the chances of me having to serve jail time for a misdemeanor of less than $50, and this is my first offense? Could I qualify for a diversion program of some sorts? And for my record...As I said I rely solely on financial aid grants to go to school. I am in my second year working on my A.A. in graphic design. Will this effect me getting financial aid? I plan on transferring to SDSU in a year, will this make it hard for me to get in? I feel like such an idiot for doing this and jepardising my life and career, not to mention my dignity. I can truely say that this will NEVER happen again. I would really appreciate someone's help with these questions. Thank You So Much! more

Resolved Question: How to target my resume to other jobs?

I would like to target my resume to other such as customer service and banking and entry level hr. Even though, I have more current experience in receiving / warehouse, I believe I will advance faster. My receiving manager at Sears worked 10 years until he became a manager. Currently, I work at my mothers store as a cashier/stockier. I do have skills in office 2007 and office xp. I know there are some things wrong with my resume. Please help to strengthen my resume. Do you think it is possible to do career change? Or would i have a better chance of advancement if I stick to receiving/warehouse ((and get my forklift license)? Any comment tips would be appreciated.

Resolved Question: What do you think of John 2:13-17 and this story?

13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: 15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; 16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. 17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. I went to work at a carnival last Friday and Saturday that a church was having in Indianapolis Indiana. It rained, thunder and lightning real bad both days I was there and the funny thing about it, it wasn't suppose to rain either one of those two days. When we left, the lady who I was working with said, I guess God wasn't happy about the church having a carnival. I didn't think much about it. The first day we were there she went around looking at the different booths and came and told me that there was beer and other alcoholic beverages being served at one of the booths. Saturday when I went looking for the person in charge I went down stairs of the church and they were selling items down in the church. Five minutes after we paid the church for a booth, The clouds started changing and ten minutes later it poured down. We didn't make any money and on the way back, I told Trish. I guess God wasn't happy about the carnival. We laughed about it, when I was reading John 2:13-17 this morning, this scripture came to mind of what had happened over the weekend. more

Resolved Question: I am really thinking of applying for this mystery shopper job i wanna know if its legit?

Thank you for your interest in the Mystery Shopper position. Our company conducts surveys and evaluates other companies in order to help them achieve their performance goals. We offer an integrated suite of business solutions that enables corporations to achieve tangible results in the marketplace. We get hired by other companies and act like customers to find out how they are handling their services in relation to their customers. Mystery Shopping is the most accurate and reliable tool a business can use to gather information regarding their actual customer service performance at the moment of truth. This moment of truth is not when the staff is on their best behavior because the boss is around - it is when they interact with customers during their normal daily routines. This is where you, the Mystery Shopper, come in. You pose as an ordinary customer and provide feedback of both factual observations (ex...the floor was free of debris) and your own opinions (ex...I felt that the temperature in the establishment was too cold). Mystery Shoppers must remain anonymous. You must act as a regular customer and be careful not to do anything that would reveal you as a shopper. An inexperienced shopper could tip off the staff to his/her identity by asking for the manager's name for no clear or appropriate reason. If you are going to be bringing someone with you on the shop, make sure you educate them about the process as well. Beware that even whispers can be overheard by employees. If anyone notices you are a shopper, you can bet that word will quickly spread around the establishment and you will get some of the best customer service in town. No company can afford to have a gap between the promise of quality and its actual delivery, that's why leading corporations look to us, the nation's premiere mystery shopping and customer experience measurement company. In order for a business to effectively compete in today's economy, they must be prepared to meet the challenge of increasing sales by: * Retaining existing customers * Acquiring new customers * Creating word-of-mouth advocacy * Improving customer loyalty Once we have a contract to do so, you would be directed to the company or outlet, and you would be given the funds you need to do the job(either purchase merchandise or require services), after which you would write a detailed report of your experience. Examples of details you would forward to us are: 1) How long does it take to get served. 2) Politeness of the attendant. 3) Customer service professionalism. 4) Sometimes you might be required to upset the attendant, to see how they deal with difficult clients. Then we turn the information over to the company executives and they will carry out their own duties in improving their services. Most companies employ our assistance when people complain about their services, or when they feel there is a need for them to improve upon their customer service. Our company partners with you to implement proven mystery shop auditing and surveying strategies that provide critical information about customer experiences. You will be paid a commission of $100 for every duty you carry out, and bonus on your transportation allowance. Your task will be to evaluate and comment on customer service in a wide variety of restaurants, retail stores, casinos, shopping malls, banks and hotels in your area. Qualities of a good Mystery Shopper: * Is 21 years of age or older * Loves to go shopping * Is fair and objective * Is ON TIME * Is very observant and able to focus on details * Is fairly intelligent * Has patience * Is detail oriented * Is practical * Types well * Is trustworthy * Explains well in writing * Is discreet * Loves to learn * Handles deadlines * Has full internet access (at home or at work) Mystery Shopping is fun and exciting but also must be approached very seriously and is definitely not for everyone. If you are interested in applying for consideration as a Mystery Shopper do send in your information: Full Name: Address: City: State: Zip Code: Phone Number: Age: Occupation: As soon as we receive your information we will add you to our database and we will look for locations in your area that needs to be evaluated. Resolved Question: Why is college so expensive when you have the same learning potential as your years prior?

Now I have read all of the excuses people give as to why college is so expensive and where your tuition money goes, etc., but I still don't buy all of it as an excuse. First of all, the larger the institution, the more $$ they get to support it BUT that also means higher costs for maintenance. Problem is that what they charge to admit you ON TOP OF all a school gets from other revenue streams (i.e. merchandising, licensing) easily covers those costs. I'm starting to get pissed with all these people blowing smoke up my ass trying to justify the cost when I have fully functioning brain telling me that you don't need to be a math major to understand we are all being played as fools and suckers. To start, no matter where you go, NO ONE ever, and I mean EVER comes close to getting the value out of the college in terms of what they are paying. For example, I went and lived at Rutgers New Brunswick, $7200 to dorm, $7000 to go per semester as of 2003-2008. $7000 is entirely reasonable, that I will accept, but lets not forget we still have to pay out the nose for books that are generally not used (its a fact, I don't care who you are). As in high school, I used the gym, weight room, and building to conduct my business. $7000 worth a semester? I think not, but still, I can live with that for college. Now what about these places that cost $45-50,000 a year, places like Boston College and NYU. How do they justify that price? You honestly don't believe your getting that that much worth of education; for what I pay I get the same books and the same attention from similiarly accredited people. Any sensible person knows that its not about where you go, its how you apply yourself and how much you get out of your time spent during these formative years. There is no excuse for that type of jump in price no matter what anyone says. It's absolute gouging to the fullest, and all it does is serve to put kids with big dreams in even bigger debt as they are forced into taking loans. Is that $50K student getting a better education than the $7G one? First of all, the answer is highly unlikely, and second, the response could be a sure fire no if we guarantee the kid puts in the effort to better himself using the resources available. What bugs me most, though, is that all students end up paying for tons of $hit that they never see or use. At Rutgers, for example, they had 4 campuses. I lived on one and, if I chose, never really had to leave the main one to take classes. WHY DON'T WE GET CHARGED FOR WHAT WE USE. I'm sick of putting money out for things that I don't want or am concerned with. Why should I be paying THE MAJORITY for an intensive remodeling/restructuring of the academic institution? I don't need a monorail system connecting me everywhere; we have a perfectly good bus system. I don't need them bulldozing almost 3 miles of road and buildings just so they can line it all with grass to enhance the "classic, romantic college experience." I sure as hell did not sign up for that, hell, I JUST WANTED TO PAY FOR MY EDUCATION. Plus, the FIRST GODDAMN DAY AFTER I GRADUATED I get a call asking for ME to donate them another $200 dollars. Are they serious? Of course I said no, but I STILL GET HARASSED AT LEAST TWO OR THREE TIMES A WEEK WITH PEOPLE ASKING ME FOR MONEY. I'm absolutely sick of this bs. Colleges better start spending their money wisely or else enrollment will inevitably drop and they will have to close. Some places deserve the axe as it is clearly evident that they do not care for the wellbeing of their student body as much as they do for the notoriety and prestige of the institution. It's disgusting how backwards their priorities are. And please, don't come back with a response telling me that... -professor pay is high -you have to pay for energy, heating, air, etc. -taxes on the land itself that the school pays -all the extracurricular facilities -guest speakers, events, etc. -gotta pay for libraries, computer labs, theaters, stadiums, etc. -campus police, health clinics, etc. State schools get funding to take care of these things. The items the state does not cover gets paid for by tuition. 45,000 students at RU x $8,000 (it might cost more now)= $360,000,000 That doesn't even include those who live there. And we have to buy our own books. $360,000,000, and your telling me that they aren't turning some sort of profit just from tuition? That figure also doesn't include state funding. Please, we're all not stupid and the math doesn't lie. Rutgers University does not cost that much money to run each semester. And like I said, I think this place is almost reasonable. I don't even want to do that sort of math for a private university; it would probably put me to tears knowing that despite how much these places pull in, they are still bitching and moaning about not having cash and having to cut classes. All of us should be disgusted abIn college you should almost pay for what you use if things are going to continue down this path. Realistically, no one gets more than $5,000-$8000 (maybe) MAX per semester in terms of educational value from the college they go to, probably even less. I'm sick of people having to pay through the nose or take out loans that immediately put them in such depressing levels of debt that they almost feel powerless to recover. School should NEVER be treated like a business yet this is what they have become. And like most all businesses in the US, colleges are poorly facilitated and overextended to such a point that there probably is no turning back. NO PLACE, NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO, SHOULD COST MORE THAN $10,000 A YEAR. NO EXCUSES AT ALL FOR THAT. Yes, I understand that with private places you apy for exclusivity and the name on the degree, thats fine, but like any douchebag, you don't mind getting raped if you can afford it. Someone please counter this cuz I'd love to hear a struggle more

Resolved Question: Please help w/ matching accounting terms with their definitions.....?

In reconciling the bank account of Lane Company Ltd., the accountant had to deal with the following sin items: 1. Outstanding checks. 2. Bank service charges. 3. Check No. 502 was issued in the correct amount of $350 and paid by the bank in that amount but had been incorrectly recorded in Lane Company Ltd.'s accounting records as $530. 4. Collection by bank of note receivable left with bank by Lane Company Ltd. for collection and credited to Lane Company's account. 5. Customers' checks deposited by Lane Company Ltd. but returned by bank marked "NSF." 6. Deposit in transit. Classify each of the above six items under one of the following headings: a) an addition to the balance per the bank statement b) a deduction from the balance per the bank statement c) an addition to the balance per the depositor's records d) a deduction from the balance per the depositor's records. Question #2: Listed below are errors or problems that might occur in the processing of cash transactions. Also shown is a separate list of internal control procedures. a) The bookkeeper of Center Hardware frequently has trouble in getting the bank reconciliation to balance. If the book balance is more than the bank balance, the bookkeeper writes a check payable to Cash and cashes it. If the book balance is less than the bank balance, the bookkeeper makes an accounting entry debiting Cash and crediting Cash Over and Short. b) In serving customers who do not appear to be attentive, a salesclerk often rings up a sale at less than the actual sales amount and then removes the additional cash collected from the customer. c) Without fear of detection, the cashier sometimes removes cash forwarded to him from the mailroom or the sales department instead of depositing these receipts in the company's bank account. d) CJ Spectra, who has prepared bank reconciliations for Brandy's Pub Ltd. for several years has noticed that some checks issued by the company are never presented for payment. Spectra, therefore, has formed the habit of dropping any checks outstanding for more than six months from the outstanding checks list and removing a corresponding amount of cash from the cash receipts. These actions taken together have left the ledger account for cash in agreement with the adjusted bank balance and have enriched Spectra substantially. e) All the cash receipts from Monday through Thursday were lost in a burglary on Thursday night. f) The official designated to sign checks is able to steal blank checks and issue them for unauthorized purposes without fear of detection. g) The monthly bank reconciliation continually shows a difference between the adjusted bank balance and the adjusted book balance because the cashier regularly deposits actual cash receipts, but the debits to the Cash account reflects cash register readings that differ by the amount of errors in making change in cash sales transactions. Internal Control Proceedures: 1-Periodic reconciliation of bank statements to accounting records 2-Use of Cash Over and Short account 3-Adequate subdivision of duties 4-Use of prenumbered sales tickets 5-Depositing each day's cash receipts intact in the bank 6-Use of electronic cash registers equipped with optical scanners to read magnetically coded labels on merchandise 7-Immediate prepareation of a control listing when cash is received, and the comparison of this listing to bank deposits 8-Cancellation of paid invoices at the time of signing the checks 9-Requirement that invoices be initialled as advance authorization of every cash disbursement 10. None of the above control procedures can effectively prevent this type of error or problem from occurring. You can just answer it like: a) #1, etc Please help, the questions may seem long, but the answers are very short. Thx in advanced!! more

Resolved Question: What do you think of Jordan (Katie Price)?

I think she's as dumb as a box of rocks.... Sure she knows how to make millions...and good luck to her for that... but boy is she thick...recently in an interview she repeated over and over that she had a "backlash" of merchandise to come out...think she might have meant a backlog. She's always making these gaffes...if she spent half the time expanding mind than she does her breasts...it would serve her better. Also giving her the title of celebrity mum of the year is a complete joke...wasn't she falling out of some nightclub when her son Harvey was scalded and a large mirror fell on him? She's lucky to have bagged hunky Peter Andre if you ask me.OMG Kimmy jealous of her!!! ffs have you seen her lately?? she looks like reject for the role of the childcatcher in Chitty chitty.... jealous NO!NO TDs from me guys.claire...the facts speak for themselves - she's not a good mum. Also if she chooses to 'prostitute' that awful body of hers in the way that she does then she can expect to be judged. more

Resolved Question: Are much of the CFL's struggles due to the fact they are underrepresented in the big provinces?

I think there are strong arguements that the CFL has struggled in Ontario (pop. 12M), British Columbia (pop. 4.5M), and Quebec (pop. 8M) because of too few franchises in those provinces. 2 Ontario teams, 1 in BC, and 1 in Quebec combined with no teams in NB/PEI, NL, or NS is probably why merchandise sales and TV viewership for the CFL is always in the toilet. To me, it sounds like insufficient brand penetration. I doubt there is anything inherently better (in terms of CFL support/potential) in the rest of western Canada, but the CFL is much more popular there. Most of the western teams have about a-1.3M fans that serve their region. That appears to me to be ideal. Enough fans that they can make a living, but not so many that they are an afterthought. I think the CFL is considered an odditiy outside of western Canada for this underrepresentation. Do you agree or disagree? What is your take on the CFL?colliepoodle - I am intrigued by your answer. How do you build from the bottom up?Habs/Als/G-Men Avro Arrow - Ottawa, Victoria, Windsor, Quebec, Halifax --- with that the CFL would be up to 13 teams. I have said before that (IMO) 14-16 teams are required for the CFL to have long term stability and strong countrywide support (and really 18 would be better long term). A 10 teams CFL is not too hard to see, but anything beyond that seems beyond the CFL's grasp as long as the CFL is run by the current mix of owners. Ottawa and Quebec have workable stadiums and sufficient, strong markets. Windsor's Mayor wanted to build a stadium to host a CFL team for Windsor and all the Canadians in Detroit, but it looks like they were blown off. No idea if that door is still open. Victoria does not have a sufficient stadium and neither does Halifax. I will say I that your proposal would be very strong, but until the CFL starts earmarking money to help finance new stadiums or at least the PR campaigns to get citizens on board with new stadiums, those teams won't happen. IMO. more

Resolved Question: Children and Genitalia Don't Mix!!!!!?

Everywhere we and our children go, we are bombarded by filth. Let's use that word. Recently on a trip to Brisbane, Australia, I noticed how a bus stop used in the afternoons by school children from two local schools was situated directly in front of a XXX sex store. It seemed in a word- ridiculous! The F*** word makes a regular guest appearance on many shows nowadays, (and not just in Australia), where it is invariably joined by two co-stars: sexual inuendo and low-brow suggestiveness. --And sometimes all this romps across the screen in the middle of the day. It isn't good enough! When did the television empire turn a blind eye to the filth? The reason for broadcasting filth at epidemic rates is simple: filth sells; television corps are buying; and the whole, darn, viewing world is the victim. In my hotel room at night in Aus, I watched television, in between bursts of compiling notes on my laptop. A tv advertisement for erection issues played ad nauseum. Not only is this advert the figure-head of a campaign for a non-descript and non-professional outfit, (although they called themselves the 'Australian Medical Institute,' it is extremely difficult to locate any credentialed medico or Dr associated with this organization; or to consult one when one is lured by the bone white flash of a toll free number), it also serves to push a helluva lot of bile to the tip of one's maw. Here is how it goes:- Two guys with dumb faces drop their pants while positioned behind a apiano. With excruciatingly fatuous expressions they wave their arms in the air while playing the piano with [we suppose, gingerly] their penises, made exquisitely rigid (against all natural odds) by the clandestine procedures offered through calling a 1800 number [and wrought painfully at a high cost to one's credit card, it is presumed]. It occurred to me: Fine. If that's the way in which adults want to be addressed, well it lacks class and humanity- but so be it. But- on the other hand- What if children were watching? Are genitals supposed to be interpreted as comical, play things? There are TVs everywhere. Hospital waiting rooms; roadside diners; some children have them in their rooms, and may fall asleep with them on. There are too many chances for children to be subjected to ridiculously phallic imagery like this. In the US, the same kinds of explicit no-brainer-its-all-about-your-nuts-and-bolts ads are shown. Is anything sacred anymore? Are we happy to be a society- no matter where you happen to live- that sits by and lets tv become a vehicle of filth that is quite able to corrupt the minds of children? What about sex stores in bus zones? Something has to be done. YOU can take a stand against this filth by making your sentiments known to the tv stations and to the companies which don't give a dime's worth about what your children see, as long as they can continue <--unabated--> to push their felonious merchandise right under their noses. What are your thoughts on this matter?ERRATUM: That line is supposed to read: "nuts and bolts". For some reason Answers didn't let it appear. There is nothing nasty about what was originally written there. more

Resolved Question: How do people that are Carolina fans celebrate after a win?

At this bar in my town whenever there is a Duke vs UNC game they call it "A house divided" Night. They literaly divide the bar. Duke fans get served only by Duke employee fans. Their side is covered in Duke decorations. The same for goes for UNC. The bar hosts "The Loser's Pit" at the end of a game. The deal is if your team wins and you have something representing the losers side you can burn it in a furnace they have in the back. The first game game when Carolina lost I was so pissed because I bought over forty bucks worth of duke merchandise to burn. But the secound I bought fifty bucks worth and boy was it worth it.no violence except people threating to do something. they hire two police officers for both sides. Thats why they divide us. more

Resolved Question: Can you be sued for the remaining balance on a reposession?

My neighbor is getting letters in the mail saying that a collection company has put in documents to sue him for the remaing balance on a reposession that he gave up and the car was auctioned off. Its not actually the company he financed it with but some collection agency. I did some research and everyone says they are very trashy thats all they do they dont contact you they just sue you and lots of people have had their lawsuits dismissed or won their case. I was under the understanding that since you returned the merchandise they couldn't sue you for the remainder of what you owe. Besides the repo was over 3 years ago why now? He hasn't been served with papers yet so is there anything he can do besides getting a good lawyer. more

Resolved Question: Should I leave my career as a marketing genius to work as a server at Fridays? Here is the job description.?

Sets places at dining tables, takes orders, serves food and drinks. Creates a warm, fun atmosphere for both guests and employees and answers questions about food and drinks including their ingredients and preparation. Takes drink orders, merchandises menu items and the excitement continues from there. Delivers food and checks back to ensure guest satisfaction, maintains a neat table appearance and invites guests to return. Accepts payments and adheres to sanitation procedures. Sound like it's up your alley? Two comments. First, if you have to read this to know what a server does, shouldn't you apply for a management position? Second, why did they have to bring butt sex into it with that last sentence? more

Resolved Question: Hosting and charging admission for a party legally with alcohol.?

Just some curiosities I had, nothing really serious. My first question is can you acquire a temporary beer license? If so, how much is it? How hard is it to get? (I live in Wisconsin if that helps). My next two questions are a bit bizarre. First, if the temperature is below freezing, can you offer free alcohol in your garage, and have a cover charge to come inside where you are also serving free alcohol, so that the cover charge is obviously not to pay for alcohol since you can get it free without paying? And the second question is, what if you give free alcohol to everyone, but only give the good alcohol to people who bought merchandise from you like a t-shirt or something, and gave everyone else watered down crap? I don't really have any intent on hosting a drinking party since I myself am not even of legal age yet, but I was just curious. I try to find loopholes in my spare time lol. more

Resolved Question: Do you think these Christians are Ghetto?

You Know You're A Ghetto Christian If... 1) You lie on an application to get a job and then get up and testify that "God made a way out of no way!" 2) You get mad at a visitor and call them out for sitting in YOUR seat. 3) You tell the preacher to baptize you from the neck down because you just got your hair did! 4) You take 2 hours to get ready for church, get there late, and leave early!! 5) You open your Bible and you cough from the dust that flies out. 6) Your wedding song is 'Secret Lovers'. 7) You do not lift your hand during worship because your acrylic nail is broken. 8) The only time you like to sing in the choir is when they let you sing "your" song. 9) You do not tithe because you say, "the preacher might be crooked and stealing the Lord's money, so I don't want to give it to him." 10) After you've done wrong and someone has rebuked you, you don't repent but you say, "Well the Lord knows my heart". 11) If you have ever said, "Show me in the Bible where it says, thou shall not smoke". 12) Your favorite part of the service is the benediction. 13) You buy "hot" merchandise and testify the Lord blessed me with a TV, jewelry, clothes, etc 14) You overheard someone say, "We got fed today at service" and you asked if they served chicken. 15) You just got finished smoking on the outside of the church and then try to lead a song, get choked up, holding your throat and say to the congregation, "The devil don't want me to sing this song." Pass this on to let others know the signs of a "ghetto" Christian. more

Resolved Question: what do u think of this ATHIESTS mockery "daily rotten.com" 5-8-07?

Witter, a 24-year-old self-described atheist living in Orlando, is the creator of the Post-Rapture Post, which bills itself as "the postal service of the saved." For as little as $4.99, Witter offers to deliver your letters to friends and loved ones left behind after the Rapture, when some Christians believe they will be whisked up to heaven while everyone else — the "Left Behind" of the popular book series — suffers a series of tribulations. As Witter sees it, it will fall to the unsaved to serve as the postmen of the Apocalypse. "Do you want to take the chance that your loved ones will have to suffer through your ascension into Heaven without knowing how you really feel in your heart?" the site asks. "Sign up for the Post-Rapture Post today to guarantee that, while you are gone, you will remain in the thoughts of those left behind." FIND MORE STORIES IN: Christians | Jesus | Religion | Joshua | Rapture | Atheist "Holy crap, a plan B.," wrote one of the site's visitors, known only as Fred B. from Oregon. "This is my kind of religion." Others weren't so charitable. "I am shocked at your website," penned a woman identified as Kim F. "It is not even remotely funny. ... All who are a part of this, surely, God will judge to damnation." As an atheist, one of the things Witter doesn't believe in is any sort of damnation. Or the Rapture. Or God, for that matter. Even if there is a Rapture, he said, it's best to prepare because Witter is pretty sure he'll be one of the many left behind. "The Bible says that only those that repent of their sins and accept Jesus as the True Son of God will be saved," the site reads. "We do neither. Some of our personal sins include: drunkenness, heresy, sacrilege/blasphemy, gluttony, laciviousness, and sloth. There is no way we are going to disappear into Heaven any time soon." Witter guarantees that should the Rapture arrive, he would deliver all letters entrusted to him. He created the website in 2004 after graduating from Syracuse University. "My friends think it's hilarious," he said. "We all like it." But he also thinks it is logical. "If you are a good person after the Rapture, (you'll ascend)," Witter said. "If you have a son you want to behave so that he might also see Jesus," you send him a letter. Social bookmarking sites and the blogosphere have generated interest in the Post-Rapture Post. Witter said he received about 2,000 e-mails after fark.com posted a link to the site. So far, just 11 people have purchased letters from Witter's site, all of whom chose the least expensive, Class I message for $4.99. Letters that are delivered on fancy resume paper are available for $9.99, but medieval-style parchment costs $799.99. "I wish someone would order the expensive one," Witter said. The merchandise on the site is more popular. Witter said he has sold about 300 T-shirts, Rapture survival guides and coffee mugs. He is not sure how much money he's made, but says it's enough to at least break even. It also has earned him a few nasty letters. "I get about 80% hate mail," Witter acknowledged. The other 20% fall roughly into two categories: people who appreciate the satire, and fellow atheists — offering their services as postal workers after the Rapture. Resolved Question: Your Suggestions For Chinese? Want To Improve Perception of Poor Himan Rights Record?

The Chinese action plan to improve record: 1) Give the family of the executed the option of paying cash or charging the cost of the bullet to their Visa/Mastercard changing the slogan to "Everywhere you want to be, except when in China" 2) Give a sickly family member first dibs at purchasing the harvested organs sold on the black market. 3) Admitting the sale of these human organs at Sumo Wrestling matches by the equivalent of peanut vendors could be perceived in poor taste they have agreed to train the "sales persons" as flight attendants on China Air. Instead of "Get your liver, get your liver here.. Corneas Corneas here, One of a kind ..... here get your ..... here" The catalogs of merchandise now available on most commercial flights will include a section especially for these patrons. Very responsibly the attendants will not serve alcohol to those persons making a purchase or kidneys or liver harvested from someone under the age of 21. 4) The Falun Gong have now been authorized to hand out pamphlets at Shanghai International but are restricted to the section set aside for the hari krishnas. As payment for his generosity the Chinese PM only asks for the group to furnish him with one of their neato brass thingys you hit with the big stick that makes the “boinnnnnnnnnnnnnnng” sound when you hit it. Things are slow these days for the Communist Dictator.. I mean President with capitalism and all you know……. J 5) University students are now participated to recognize the anniversary of Tienaman Square Massacre as special guests to be permanently interred along side Chairman Mao in Mao Zedong Memorial Hall. more

Resolved Question: how do you sue a company that ran out of business?

I have a question about suing a company that ran out of business. We had a contract with this company to help them sell some of the merchandise, but the business just shut down and moved out of the office (nowhere to be found). They haven't filed for bankruptcy as far as we know, and we have the mailing address of the president of the corporation. Is there anyway to sue the company for either breach of contract or the amount they owe by serving the president himself (is he liable)? What are the procedures (the amount is too big for small claims). Is this too complicated for a non-lawywer to do? more
