Open Question: septimus heap's kidnap?

I'm reading the first book, "Magyk," backwards because the beginning parts are kind of boring. However, as I am reading this book, I was puzzled with Chapter 37 (Scrying) where the captured apprentice tells Zelda, Boy 412, Nicko, and Jenna that he is Septimus Heap--the long lost 7th son of the Heap family. Zelda is showing all three of them a flashback showing Septimus being born. The one flashback of how Septimus Heap was kidnapped is what really puzzled me the most. Why is it that when the Matron Midwife bursts into the Heap family's house to take Septimus, Sarah does not defend him in any way or do anything to retrieve her newborn child? Did the Matron Midwife create some sort of charm around the family house so that way nobody detects her presense or does she put the Cause Yourself to be Unseen spell all over her body? By the way, no rude comments on this question. more

like have you ever heard of people doing like random things that will give you a free wish like my friend told me at night before you go to bed put your pajamas on inside out and backwards and get a spoon and hold it near your tonge and wish on it and then put it under your pillow while you sleep and your wish will come true and she wished for it to snow and the next day it snowed in the afternoon for about 20 minutes but i dont know if it counts becuz it didnt snow for a long time and the weather man said it was gonna snow anyway so yea. also my other friend usually wears little key charms on a piece of thread around her neck and she says when it breaks she will get a free wish. Im guessing this stuff doesnt work and I really need something so if you have anything like that it would be good. but if has to be strong becuz the wish i have is almost inpossible and it cant be like witch craft or whitch spells or something becuz i am strictly against that stuff.sorry I didnt know which catagory to put it under so I just chose randomly more

Piper starts to get very upset and the elders feel they owe her. Piper's birthday is coming up in 3 days and as a present the elders send her Prue. But as the Elders were sending her with a spell, they misread the spell and accidentally released the source as well. While Prue, Phoebe, Piper, and Paige are enjoying there times together, the source attacks and kidnaps Chris. Prue, Phoebe, Piper, Paige have to vanquish them but one of them have to sit out. Prue wants to go and protect her sisters, but Phoebe, Piper, and Paige insists that they are fine and don't want to loose Prue again with the time they have. As upset as she is, Paige ends up sitting out and she feels that she is the baby sister. Not to completly change their mind or thoughts, but just to give em a little push toward what you wanted them to think? I did, and it worked like a charm. I did a little spell to influence my roomate into being kinder to me .... I was pretty amazied when it worked and seems like it is going to stick. Was I wrong? It did not hurt anyone, in fact it helped the situation soooo much. more

It put me on edge. Made me feel as if the earth was being balanced on the tip of a freshly sharpened knife. With each rotation it lurched a little farther to one side, drawing closer to the vast, unknown darkness; to sure annihilation. I noticed an unusually large beetle creeping by and slipped out of my mittens, tossing them to the side of a stranger's headstone. I didn't like wearing mittens. It made me feel like I was at a disadvantage, having lost one of the five essential senses. It's shiny bruise-colored armor glimmered in the winter sun. I extended one finger and stroked it's back. My lips stretched into a small grin as it looked up, and started running in circles. I saw my father rush by, cell-phone in full bloom as it grew from his ear. He glanced at me, without slowing. Despite the fact that I hadn't made a sound, he lifted his head. I wondered where he came from. Was he a ghost? Was I imagining him? But as he turned around and walked my way I didn't care. He was inhumanly beautiful. His features were angular, and appeared to be perfect. His dark eyes glowed against his pale skin. As he came closer I felt my breath cease. He approached me gracefully, with a delightful chuckle. It reminding me of bells. Everything about him screamed elegance. I was charmed, to say the least. “Are these yours?” His voice was inviting. Rich, and smooth like velvet. I nodded and tried to smile. He drew out his arm and dropped the mittens into my open, trembling fingers. Like a robot, I scanned my brain for the proper thing to say. I finally came up with a mumbled, 'thank you.' I couldn't look at him and talk at the same time. I kept my head down and whipped back around. I started back down, half-heartedly, but after a few steps he was calling something behind me. “Have a good day.” I turned again, more than willing to lay my eyes on that angelic face. The breeze had his shaggy, black mane wafting in my direction. It was cropped short, and framed his face wonderfully. I was suddenly taken aback by the aroma that flowed into my nose. It made my mouth water. He smelled of the most prized, vintage cologne. I felt myself moving toward him as if I were floating. But another screech of the horn broke my trance. “Goodbye.” I murmured shyly, half-running away from him. “See you again?” His tone provoked a longing, a sort of question. I have been seeing my boyfriend for 3 months. we have been renting a room from a friend for 1 month. The whole relationship was like this... he always accused me of cheating on him..he always was breaking up with me and then the next day he would be prince charming. Resolved Question: sex isn't important to me: GUYS ANSWER?

I often feel uncomfortable and out-casted when my friends talk about sex and ask me about my sex life (or lack there of). The fact is I haven't has sex in three years (I am in my 20's) simply because I feel it is more worth it to wait for the right person or someone who I find truly worth it and possibly spending the rest of my life with rather than having fu** buddies or just getting laid because I can (anyone can do that, it's not a special skill). I mean three months is a dry spell, but three years is a choice and they don't seem to understand that. It's bad enough people in relationships treat people who are single like they are diseased let alone someone who purposefully chooses not to have sex period. And if I meet a truly awesome charming guy that I just don't absolutely click with, and maybe I just want to be friends (because that is what I consider first), they think I am out of my mind for not at least hooking up with him. I am tired of this. There has to be others out there who feel the same as I do? Guys, what do you think of girls who would rather wait and find someone who is worth waiting opposed to girls who make that a priority to get laid at all cost? more

i had a harry potter movie marathon with my friends this weekend and we came up with a list of differences. what others have u seen? Sorcerer's Stone: 1. Dudley's friends do not come with them to the zoo 2. Harry does not move into Dudley's 2nd bedroom until the 2nd movie but in the book he moves in after the vanishing glass incident 3. Hagrid stays over at the hotel where the Dursleys are in the book. in the movie, he and harry leave the same night hagrid tells him the truth 4.When Harry is in Ollivanders in the book, he tries numerous wands before he finds the correct one. In the movie, he tries 2 and then finds his 5. Also in Ollivanders in the book, Hagrid is sitting in the back waiting. In the movie, he leaves Harry and buys him Hedwig 6. In the book, Harry meets Draco Malfoy on Malfoy on the Hogwarts express but in the movie he meets him when they are waiting for Prof. McGonagall 7. In the book Hagrid notices Trevor on the ground before they enter the castle but in the movie Neville sees him before they enter the Great Hall. 8. The sorting hat does not sing his song in the movie 9. They do not sort the 1st years in alphabetical order in the movie 10. Seamus and Dean are not with Harry and Ron when Ron says that Hermione has no friends after the charms lesson 11. Professor Binns is not mentioned in the movie 12. This is for my Seventh grade project. Please rate, and please be harsh if you have to. Its my own version of the pied piper of hameln. Here: The mayor of Hameln is in distress. His town has begun to be overrun by a plague of filthy rats. “Ouch!” A rat bit his finger. “That is the last straw!” Cried the mayor. His knavish council, lead by the notorious Julian Vogel, the hapless ex-wizard, has no solutions. Now he must send for mercenaries to rid his town of the horrible vermin Messengers ride out to every direction, each and every one of them longing to find, and bring back the hero of Hameln town. After ten sleepless nights, the mayor becomes desperate. “We’ll never get these vile rodents out of my town! What am I to do? They’ll eat us alive!” There comes a knock at the door. Standing in front of the doorway, is one of the mayor’s messengers, with a gratified look on his face. “Oh! Come on in.” says the mayor. The messenger, tall, proud, walks in, and is followed by two men. Both very tall, slender, and a little pale. Both dressed in very dark and dreary clothes. In order to make a new product sell, you must be able to grab their attention and convince them to purchase it. The company Meriel introduced a new brand of cigarettes that would allow the buyer to pick between four tempting aromas; tangy cherry, grape, burgundy, or luscious blueberry. For that reason, they created an ad for the “smokers of America”. Reaching the people that has a flair for sweet-smelling savors and still get the pleasure of smoking. This ad was successful in reaching their clients and meeting their objective point of view. The ad shows a couple in a casual location, possibly in a bar sitting across from one another and having a striking conversation. The gentleman appears to be indulging the lady with his sincere charm as they gaze into one another’s eyes. He has a flavored Tipalet in his hand, which bears a resemblance to a smaller version of a cigar with a white plastic tip. He blows a wisp of smoke into her face, as she leans forward with the look of pleasure and delight. She grasps a hold of every attention she can get from him. Just below the couple, the ad states if you “blow in her face and she’ll follow you anywhere”, leading us to believe that a spell has been cast and she has lost all control over her way of thinking. A pick up line will not be necessary when you have a Tipalet cigarette; it does all the work for you. The Surgeon General’s message cannot be seen, but in a separate box in the right corner of the page they included a message of their own, saying “oh yes…you get smoking satisfaction without inhaling the smoke”. Hoping to keep the negative hid and present a more positive affect about smoking. I thought the ad was successful in marketing this new product for a couple of reasons. First of all, they wanted to reach the people that smoked and give them a variety of scents; aiming at the people that enjoy the smell of their grandpa’s pipe, daddy’s cigar, or just the sweet smell of fresh tobacco. Secondly, they wanted to get the attention of the buyers that are concerned about inhaling smoke, by persuading them that they could get the satisfaction of a Tipalet cigarette without endangering their lives. Finally, it seems that you can never leave out sexuality. The thought of any woman being hypnotized under the control of a man, makes any guy want to buy it. It’s cool, it’s manly, it’s sexual, and it sells. In conclusion, being a prior smoker for many years, I would have to say this ad would sell to many “smokers of America”. Once there was a hope when she saw a prince coming near to the tower. well i have to write this because im trying to get into a higher class is it good? First I would like to thank the whole committee for taking the time out reading this paper. This is my first semester here; I would really like to be in English 101 I think I deserve it 100 percent. If I had to think about why the committee wouldn’t pass me to the next level it probably would be not organized and my grammar Since I been in this class I have been improving, and I am no longer insecure about my writing. Even though I am not all the way there, I’m almost and I think its time to move on. I’ve been told I’m a good writer it’s just my spelling and grammar needs to be fixed. This would also mean a lot to me because I always thought that I would never get better, but since I have been taking this class my writing have gotten better. During High School writing was my least favorite because I really bad with the grammar part. I took this all four years and still was struggle every time like it was something new. When I first got into this class I was kind of happy and kind of nervous to because I knew how my writing was. Our first writing assignment to me was irrelevant at first, but when I started it was quite interesting. We had to write about our childhood writing and reading. I remembered some of it and feel in love with it, I couldn’t wait till my teacher read. I was telling my self they are going to love it. Well the teacher loved it alright, but t didn’t love all my grammar mistakes. I was pretty upset because I have been working all week on that paper but by the mistakes you couldn’t tell. So I use the advice the teacher wrote on the paper to help me with my next paper. It actually really helped. I was pretty excited when I heard the next topic. I loved talking about my experiences. The ones that made me how I am today. This was really easy it came to me fast and i hoped it would be as good as the last one. When I turned it in , how i did on it really had surprised me. I didn’t do as bad as the first or how I thought I would but it still wasn’t good enough for me. This made me very confident about my writing. I told myself that I wanted to write a paper that had very little mistakes I would have zero but no one is perfect. So what I did now was put what I had learned from my first and from my second and put those to together. Then thought how I was going to do the next paper with the new things that I have learned. When it came time to write the next paper that was hardest paper I think I have ever done. We had to write about the three people we want to meet into heaven. It was really difficult because I had a hard time taking the words from my head and putting them on the paper. When I had finally crossed that bridge I had trouble crossing. I used the comments my teacher gave to me and I just knew this was it. This was the paper that was going to have the little mistakes. I put all my heart into this paper. It was hard choosing the three people because they are so many important people, questions unanswered. Reading my papers I hope you would see that I have a lot of potential. I love writing even though I wasn’t good at it. Writing is important to me. Being in this class has helped me a lot. It has showed me things that I never knew. Also how I really felt about writing, even though I didn’t like it to begin. It growed on me strongly this class made me really like writing. This is a really big thing because at first I hated writing. So I hope by reading this paper and the others that you would see that I am ready. I am ready to take this challenge head on.
