Open Question: Is there anything wrong with me or am I just a normal person with a difficult family?

I haven't had the easiest of families, then again I haven't had the worst of families either. I don't know how other people would view my family situation. Anyway when I was a child (up until about 10), I had a normal, happy life. Or at least in my eyes they were. When you're so little I guess you don't notice the problems around you. I never had a proper best friend until I was 6 or 7 when I became friends with a new girl at school, and then a few more towards the end of my first school. Then as time went by, my best friend started to hang out more with other girls and always uses me as her "gap" friend when the friendship with those other girls began to fade out. Anyway, at home, I guess I've never really been that close to my parents. I've never been able to tell them my problems, I've always felt abit embarrassed about that. I used to hit my mother (do all little kids do that or am I just not normal?), my dad has always been violent; one minute he's sweet as pie next minute he's pure evil. My parents separated when I was 11; my mother took me with her, and we started fighting more (physically and verbally). I stayed in my room alot when I was 12 and listened to heavy metal music all the time, became interested in gothic culture and witchcraft. I was very depressed at that time in my life, but it's so ironic to say that I kind of miss it back then! A time in my life where I was depressed, my parents had problems, arguing on the phone, police involved. I guess maybe my room felt like a place where I could block out all my problems and savour in the lyrics to my favourite music. I also used to go on a chat site that time and made a lot of online friends. I guess at the time I was a vulnerable 12 year old with a lot of problems going on. My mother had a boyfriend who invaded most of my space, another reason why I stayed in my room alot. They kept telling me it was all my fault. I favoured my dad over my mother at that time because he always said he puts his children first before anybody else and I guess that's where my mother failed and I think my dad uses that as an excuse to do whatever he wants to his children, to control, to twist my mind. I've been thinking recently that my dad is a sociopath and it's really scaring me thinking about it. I'm not saying I favour my mother now, I think both my parents have done bad things, didn't think of the damage it would cause to their children to see their parents fighting and slagging each other off. I'm not saying they should have stayed together of course not, but they could have separated amicably for the sake of their children. I mean, what's going to happen if one day I get married and they don't want to see each other or maybe I could get hit by a car and die, and they don't want to see each other at the funeral? Maybe I'm over thinking it slightly but these things are possible. At school, I've never been a trouble maker, surprisingly, after all my problems at home. I was always the opposite; quiet, shy, vulnerable. I hated it when teachers told me off for silly reasons and felt upset for ages when they did. You probably think a child that hits their mother has a disorder or whatever but when I saw a psychologist and a psychiatrist when I was 12, the school always reported back that there never seemed to be any problems with me, I never caused trouble, no problems with my social skills, yada yada. So how come my problems were all at home, do you think? Who/what caused me to be like this? I would say that I'm still depressed but not at depressed as I was when I was 12, although strangely I miss that time. I don't see a psychologist/psychiatrist now but I still think whether or not I should. I also miss a time in my life when I was 15 years old. It's like a never ending cycle. One year, I'm as happy as ever, next year, I start to feel depressed again, next year I "miss the old times", after that who knows? Sorry about the length of my writing, I just wanted to let everything out. Hope nobody gets bored reading this lol. more

I've had recovery for about a month and I just got relapse today. While I'm awake is listen as much as I can and when I have the opportunity I read along with the lyrics. Open Question: Should I try to work things out with my boyfriend?

Well my boyfriend and i broke up about a week and a half ago. I have moved back in with my parents and decided to move to wyoming with my parents in a year ( i live in maryland now but my dad retires next year and he and my mom are moving there and my mom is my best friend, and these were my plans before he and i started dating ) My ex boyfriend and I keep in contact and have hung out a few times since we split. I have a 5 year old and he has a 10 year old, i have full custody of my son (his dad lives in ohio) and his daughter lives with us as well but visits her mom from time to time sporadically. We still care for each other and I miss him and he says he misses me. The reason that we broke up is long and slightly complicated, but i will make it as short and clear as i can. He is 39 and I am 27. I try my best to raise my son with rules, boundaries, bedtimes, and manors, all of the things that you try to give / teach your child. He is not like that with his daughter and we seem to clash a lot on punishments. He has only punished his daughter for her misbehavior about 3 times in the year that we were together and he never sticks to the punishment that he hands down, she has no bed time to speak of (she is required to be in the house by dark, unless she is staying with a friend, but otherwise no bed time). She has a terrible attitude and tends to be very rude to my son, myself and many other people. He has taught her no personal responsibility, nor many other things that children should know by the age of 10. Yet at the same time allows her to be exposed to things that she should not be exposed to at her age, such as music with sexual lyrics, and movies with adult content, things along those lines. Another thing is that when he and i had a disagreement we would sit down and talk and come to a compromise, he has gone back on 3 of the agreements that we had made in the last month we were together, with out even talking to me about it at all. Third, I am a christian, I have been my whole life and that will never change. He on the other hand is non-religious, he never puts me down for what i believe and i don't criticize him for his "beliefs", but i wish he shared the same beliefs that i do. Last, i am a country girl and he is a city boy. I have spent the last year going to visit / living with him 10 mins outside of the city. I grew up in the northern part of the state surrounded by farms and a country type lifestyle. I don't want to spend another minute living in what i consider the city, I know that people do it every day but i don't want to raise my child there, it is not the lifestyle i desire, but he refuses to compromise, even tough the schools are not all that, on top of the mass amount of croudedness. He says that he is willing and really wants to sit down and talk about working things out. That he wants us to be together and that he will keep his compromises this time. I don't know if i should believe him or not. And i really have my heart set on moving to wyoming with my parents. He has said that he would be willing to move to wyoming eventually, but i am not sure if i want to spend my time here just to find out in 5 or so years that he decided that he doesn't want to move out there and goes back on that promise too. I am very confused. I care for him a lot and although he has his faults (as we all do) he is a very good person and a good man. I don't know what i should do so i was hoping maybe someone else has been in a similar position, or anyone who has thoughts I appreciate any input on my situation. Hey i just always wondered how Jay-z Eminem Nas & Andre 3000 would sound together all on 1 track together.. i think that would be amazing and legendary! Who do you think will have the best verse? in order.. its hard for me to say because.. there all good.. I think Jay-z will have the weakest verse tho.. Nas verse will be classic as always.. but idk if he can really spit competitve lyrics to compete with andre and em.. because Em will come so hard on this song.. Open Question: Trying to find 2 music videos?

It's been killing me for a while but i watched two music videos a couple of years back i think and i know i liked the songs but i don't know the name or the lyrics and ive been goggling all day to figure it out but nothing is coming up i just know the music videos. 1) there is an angel that falls from the sky and two farmers find her and take her home at some point she gets blindfolded but at the end villagers come and burn down the house shes in and she/spirit/soul/star what ever she is flies in to the sky 2)the other one has a woman i think its the singer walking through a town as shes singing but everyone is not as they seam, one lady is gardening but in reality is digging up her bottle of whiskey (or some sort of alcohol), she also passes a lovely couple waving to the camera with a hot girl in short shorts goes past and the husband looks at her and i think they look at each other sexually, then at the very end the singing/person walking through town goes into her house and gets in to bed with her boyfriend/husband and he pulls her closes to him. i don't know know if this helps at all but it has been bugging me so i need all the help i can get thank you !!!!! more

Open Question: Hip-hop. Needs help. Then & now?

I would say music in general, but I'm going to poke at hip-hop since I generally listen to it more. What I want to know is how hip-hop has changed from the early 90's to Now. If you listen or already familiar with earlier songs, you'll realize that there is a different vibe/tone of music that went on compared to now. In the 90's, there was an array of East vs West ideology. Hip-Hop first started in New York. The as it made it's spread, the West Coast began to vibe on it. Then California started to create their own tone of hip-hop which became the gangster mentality. People can argue back and forth about it. Groups such as Das EFX, Wu-Tang Clan, Cypress Hill, N.W.A, A Tribe Called Quest, Gangstarr, O.G.C, etc.. and the lists go on; their music was very innovative. They had a unique sound, unique beat, unique rhymes. They all had their own voice & their own style. If you hear a song from any of them, you automatically know who they are. Listening to their music, made sense. Nowadays, I don't listen to the radio much. There's a bunch of artists that I have never heard of. Or rather, known but never payed much attention to. Today's artists, to me, sound redundant. I can't listen to their music because it's more chorus lines rather than real lyrics. Repetition and machine made vocals sound hypnotic but no real talent in lyrics. It pains me to see younger generation of kids whom thrive on these artists as being great, yet they have NO idea of artists before their time. As the visual need of hollywood and special effects come into play, a lot of these videos tend to bright light these artists and sugar coat their talents on tv. I think it takes away the perspective of real artists who know how to make real good music. SO bottom line, What has changed since the beginning time of hip-hop? Will it regain it's speed? because I noticed some of michael's song such as "will you be there" has a choir w/ gospel lyrics which was spirtiual enough to play at his funeral. Also the song "keep the faith" which has a gospel choir as well, and "earth song" too has a gospel choir w/ some gospel lyrics. I think mj's gospel peek in music came about with "man in the mirror" which too has a gospel choir. Then you turn around and there's the song "threaten", "scary song", "ghost", etc., which are demonic songs regarding the devil. I think mj's demonic peek in music came about during "thiller", then it start to fade then it came back again. Michael seem to be battling with God and the devil, and did not know which was best for him, of course God would of been michael's best choice for him rather he knew it or not. Like their first album was hot/commercialish vibe /lyrics you don't mind hearing to relate or just make you laugh. 1. Lil wayne. He started out kind of undergroundish making music you could relate to during a struggle but now it's I dunno. Even though he's selling I kind of like when he was with the Hot Boyz. 2. 50 cent.(my favorite). When he came out he sounded like he mean business and had that tough guy image, but now he's kind of chubby and only talks about shooting you up type of crap. Why not go back to rapping like on GRODT? 3. T.I.: he just went too commercial. Like is this the same guy as that did trap muzik/urban legend? King made him really commercial. 4. Resolved Question: What should i name the characters in my story?

So im writing a story and I'm having trouble coming up with the names for the 3 main characters which is a 15 year old girl with medium length curly blonde hair who likes to sing, write lyrics and is into literature too. The second character is her older and slightly protective brother (partly because their parents and little sister died a year ago) who is 18 years old and takes care (and has custody) of his little sister (they are really close) when hes not at college (He has short dark brown hair, is very tall but only slightly muscular and has chocolate brown eyes). The third character is the brother's best friend who is a year younger than him (17) and attends the same high school as the girl (he has longish blonde hair, is slightly shorter than the brother, has deep blue eyes, and is muscular with a goofy smile) and he looks out for her and encourages her on her singing which leads to auditioning for the new show "America Sings" with a duet with her and later they form a secret romantic relationship (more in depth later). So anyways now that you have some info on the characters; What should i name the girl (15), the older brother (18), and his best friend (17). And please no names like Tiffiany or Jake. I'm thinking of naming the brother Hayden and his best friend Jayden (so it rhymes) and the girl Cammy (short for Cameron, unless thats too masulin because she is very feminim). Open Question: Is the band AFI ok for kids? **Please read more for additional Information!?

I work with young adults 18-22 who have the mental age of 13/14 year olds. They also come from pretty severely abused (mentally, physically, sexually) backgrounds. All of the kids have learn to use music as a way of helping them cope with situations in their life.Normally the clients listen to pop rock/christian/rap ect.. There is this one client, who has a history of cutting himself/herself in particular that asked me to talk to her mom to convince her to get an AFI CD. Is this ok? Ive looked at some of the lyrics and the songs seem pretty clean, but it would really help to have some other opinions of people who actually listen to the music. And before there are any comments about 'let the clients listen to the music they want' type stuff please understand that these kids I work with lack the necessary coping skills that you or I have, so things pan out way differently for them in their minds. Again the reason why I am asking is because I am concerned that the music will have the opposite effect on my client rather than the desired theraputicl/life-skills teaching effect. As a young teenager, I am making sure to get a good head start on musical education. I have a plan: become a dermatologist (skin doctor), which I am very passionate about, and from musical education, see if I am experienced enough by the time I am 18 to produce. I take work and art very seriously. I'm the type of person who will devote my life to artistic work, and am willing to take goals to an epic level emotionally. ENOUGH WITH MY STORY, Instrumental, chorus, lyrics... I've been switching amongst those for the past few weeks. I don't have a technique set in stone, but I'm in search of one. I picked up a good tip from a friend about a week ago: find the title first, use it in the chorus and work from there. I've been trying that, but it doesn't complete a technique. I'm having extreme difficulty when attempting to structure the song. I have this thing where whenever I come up with something catchy, the lyrics are sped up to an extreme. I look at hit songs from mainstream artists and think, "Why can't I create something like that, catchy and subtle?" I've concluded that what I need is STRUCTURE. I want my tattoo to be based on the song "Sound Effects & Overdramatics" by The Used because it is my favorite song and it means alot to me. Open Question: What is trance/techno song name with "Feel you in my dreams" lyrics?

Ok guys, I'm at my wit's end. This song was played over at 24 Hour Fitness, and I really liked what I heard, but I can not for the life of me, figure out the lyrics to the chorus. The song is sung by a girl, and I think it is better classified as trance rather than techno, but it is definitely electronic. On to the main parts of the song... The main feature is that the bass and melody dies down slowly in the middle, and the girl just whispers: "I can feel you in my dreams." And then the song and the bass picks up again and chorus replays. The first line to the chorus always sounds something like "All my loverrrr..." This was definitely wrong, but was all I could discern because the song has a lot of echoes and the words are muffled against the gym's background noise. The song is quite slow, which is why I think it falls under trance rather than techno. It just sounds pleasant and uplifting. Also, at the end of each chorus, she repeats high, high, etc. for about 5 times. Again, this could be wrong because I wasn't exactly sure what she was saying. But it is a word that rhymes with high, so "fly" could also be a possibility. Please let me know if you guys come up with anythingP.S Sorry, it is not Cascada's "Every Time We Touch." I was in a store and I heard the song and looked it up online but couldn't find it ANYWHERE. I've heard it before as far as I know but I can never find out the name of it. I remember "Hey oh" and then these heavy beats like what sounded to be drums and then a few moments later, "hey oh".
