Open Question: Do gays really think that having other gays agree with their answers is a measure of IQ?
It actually means that your intelligence is at a common level with those who frequently agree with you and at the level of their expectations, which is likely around 100. If I were to post "gays are the smartest people on the planet and that they always make the best parents", it would get Best Answer to almost any question, although it is obviously a lie. The ability to seek information and formulate thoughts with factual data is the true measure of IQ. A person who has a degree of intelligence will provide information to deal with opposition, instead of using childish methods such as reporting conflicting opinions. You may disagree with the below, but are you willing to refute it? Homosexuality is a mental disorder, like Downs Syndrome, so any comparison is relevant. Just because gays had homosexuality removed from the DSM list does not change the fact that homosexuality is a mental disorder. I will make this simple, yes there is a great disparity in mental illness among gays and straights. About 50% of the women on death row are lesbians . Homosexuals prey on children. 41% of homosexuals say they have had sex with strangers in public restrooms, 60% say they have had sex with strangers in bathhouses, and 64% of these encounters have involved the use of illegal drugs. Homosexuals account for a disproportionate number of hepatitis cases: 70-80% in San Francisco, 29% in Denver, 66% in New York City, 56% in Toronto, 42% in Montreal, and 26% in Melbourne 73% of psychiatrists say homosexuals are less happy than the average person, and of those psychiatrists, 70% say that the unhappiness is NOT due to social stigmatization. I like an honest answer, from those trying to come to an understanding of other people, . moreOpen Question: My dad clearly favours my brother and it's annoying!?
It's actually really bad how obvious he makes it. Firstly, there is three of us, me the youngest at 17, then I have brothers who are 10 and 12 years older than me. My oldest brother is pretty smart. He went to a good school and has a well paying job and lives with his wife in a nice apartment in Toronto. I'm going to the same school as him this fall so we are both kind of the same academically. My middle brother wasn't so good at school, he slacked and didn't try to hard. He smoked and partied a lot ( Not trying to make him out as bad, I love him and he's AMAZING) and just went to a college instead. He graduated and realized you can't do much without a university degree, so he went to University in Australia for 2 years to get an engineering degree. I guess this was the time my dad started obsessing over him, probably cause he 'turned his life around" and was gone for so long. Now he like talks down to me and my oldest brother. Like let's call bro 2 Timmy, "Timmy works so hard, hes such a good hard working boy..." "Have you heard from Timmy! What's Timmy up to! OMG TIMMMYYY" My dad somehow thinks that me and oldest bro had everything handed to us, and TImmy started from nothing... bottom line, we're all from the SAME UPPER MIDDLE CLASS FAMILY who never had it tough. My and oldest bro worked just as hard for the acceptance to our good school, to keep our marks up and struggle to help pay the tuition. Now my dad constantly talks about TImmy, whens TImmy coming home, what are we having for dinner since TImmy is coming over, why don't we call Timmy up. Also, this is weird, but my dad will ration my food so "Timmy can eat better" Timmy is a big strong growing boy, so apparently, I am not allowed having seconds because mine are reserved for Timmy. I've called my dad out on this so many times and all he does is call me a brat who has no idea how hard poor poor Timmy works and struggled... Just so you know, Timmy has a well paying job just like eldest brother too now. Eldest brother got married last year, and my dad was all like why do they need a fancy wedding they are just wasting money and blah blah blah, but he has NO PROBLEM dishing out thousands of dollars for Timmy. He will surprise him by depositing random amounts of money in his account wtfff... It's not even like he just favours Timmy, he actually like doesnt like slash approve of eldest bros life. It's so so weird and twisted... Yeah that was long but how do I fix it!I should also mention, my dad doesn't show a disliking towards me as to eldest brother but that's probably because I still live at home and I'm still "daddy's little girl..." not a title like Timmy's but whateverthanks! i'm moving out in 26 days anyway for school, so maybe when i'm gone my dad will appreciate me some more... maybe it is age though. he's nuts. i still love him though. moreOpen Question: Is it weird that I feel I can predict love life, are these thoughts wrong? If question is long, read 1st line.?
If this question is too long, let me know and I'll respond with additional details letting you know which part is more important. Also, for those that can finish reading this on their own time but not know please leave your email if you wish to answer. First off, I'm 19 years old from and male from around Toronto....I don't want to give away too many details because there's a chance(although it may be .0001%) that someone I know may read this. But anyways, I've been having dirty thoughts about my girl cousins, high school teachers, friends, girls from my high school, and now sometimes girls i meet here in university. My fantasies are like having them seduce me in lingerie and I used to think there was something wrong with me but I asked a similar question here 2 years ago and apparently it was just normal for a teenage boy and thinking is different from doing so maybe that stuff isn't too bad. But I worry because I get the sense maybe this is going to affect me later on. I don't want to say I'm desperate for a girlfriend because that may affect my lifestyle and the way my daily life works...also potentially the school work I get from university but at the same time, sometimes I wonder when I will first start dating someone and how far I can get with her. I'm done my first year of university and will be in 2nd year come September. I found out who my roommate was for next year and he added me on facebook, seems like a nice guy and I asked our mutual friends about him and they say he's cool. I didn't party that much during 1st year since I'm the type of person who feels the need to get work done before having fun and workload was so heavy that I barely had time to go out with friends. He seemed like a bit of a partier from his facebook profile though so I'm kind of hoping we hit it off well enough to go out and that he also gets along with my friends I also saw that he has some really hot girl friends and started imagining myself dating one of them in the upcoming year after being introduced. I've also had a habit of sometimes clicking on some girl's profile if a really hot picture of her shows up on my homepage or something...I know its probably wrong although I'm sure other guys do the same thing. I mean sometimes the pictures are of them at a beach and logically would a hot girl posing sexy waiting for all those comments really not think that some guys would be checking her out? But I wonder how bad it is that I've already checked out his girl friends. I mean I'll admit like most guys when I see a hot girl I think to myself that I'd like to start going out with her but if I've already checked her out on facebook, I feel like maybe I shouldn't consider flirting with her. Its just whenever I add a hot girl I've met on facebook I feel the urge to go through her profile to look for hot photos. I know it's creepy but I've seen guys crowd around a computer looking at pictures of girls too. And I feel this will likely be the case with every girl I meet because I'm not the type of person who goes to a bar/club and picks up a girl because I don't want to come off as creepy so I feel like I need to get to know my target before I can ask her out. Also what might be weird is that I feel like everything is coming together and this is the year I get a girlfriend, because I've turned 19 and finished a year of uni thus I feel I've matured...but at the same time I don't see myself marrying the 1st girl I date. I'm not dating for the sole sake of pleasure but at the same time I'll admit its a part of what I want, I can only see myself dating someone caring, open minded, and easy to get along with. that being said, while I wouldn't want to be a PDA person and kiss in public I wouldn't like making out on our time and having her sit on my lap and do other stuff that any guy would want. I'm not the type of person to lose my virginity easy and I've been thinking I'll wait till marriage but if I do lose it earlier, it'll be with a girl I've been with for a very long time I think..at least a year. Sometimes I also hope that me and a girlfriend take a date to the beach when we've been going out for a while because then part of me wants to see her in a bikini and maybe rub lotion all over her back before making out, and then maybe she wears lingerie for me. Maybe I'm asking for too much because I get the sense that the girls I date will not be ready to kiss/touch like I won't and at the same time I wouldn't want to seem like that's all I'm looking for in a girl. The fact I have a prediction for this year is weird in my eyes too. I also feel like I'm predicting too much like I get the sense that I will date a few girls in uni and end up marrying neither of them. Then sometimes I think of really nice girls I know and say to myself I may end up dating herlike 4 years after uni is done. And sometimes it weird, I mean to be honest hot girls are attractive but I find it a huge turn on when a girl is caring, intelligent and compassionate. One of my cousins has a friend in the US who's 7 years older than me and I find attractive. She has a boyfriend now but sometimes I say to myself that If she was single at that time, I wouldn't mind dating her then because we've hit it off at family parties before and talked alot. Then I don't see myself marrying her. Finally, recently I started picturing myself marrying an old family friend and its weird because its after we just started trading wall posts on facebook to see how each other is doing. I've known her since I was a baby, my dad's family friend. We used to go there quite a bit when we were kids but then I think when I turned 10 everyone got so busy so we didn't visit her often. We'd go for major events like her 16th birthday or something but I'd say once in like every 3 years nowadays. We arWe aren't related at all but we have been family friends. I thought about it and she has all the qualities I think I'd want plus I feel like it's destiny because we've known each other since we were kids. I know there's always the whole thing about whether she or anyone in the family would feel awkward, especially in case of breakup but I felt like it would make sense because our parents are from the same country and even though I'm of mixed race within the country, we still have similar culture and were born/raised in canada so we have that in common. Plus I'm a huge sports fan and so is she so I figure dating/marriage is so easy because she watches what I watch. That being said it's probably stupid to think I can predict what happens in the near and far future and that it affects my actions so is this just a passing stage or is there something wrong with me? moreOpen Question: Serious help needed about green card status?
I am a US green card holder for 2 decades. Ever since I got the green card, I never managed to secure a job in US as I was too highly educated and I did not want to work for $7 per hour. Upto 2005, my brother supported me with food and accommodation. He fed me for 15 years and still wants to look after me food/accommodation wise. But he makes $40K per annum and pays mortgage and fees for daughter at University. As a result he lives on bread and water but fed me better. It is 2010 now and I have not been able to go back to US due to lack of funds (to get food stamps in US I have to have paid 40 quarters of taxes but I have never worked and never filed taxes. I did do 15 years of unpaid voluntary work to help five needy/disabled neighbours. In UK I get state benefits so I have no bills for my food or accommodation or medicines (I am seriously diabetic). I had a friend who overstayed out of US for 2.5 years but me managed to get into US via Toronto, canada because often if you flash your green card, they just let you pass. Another person I read about, he was out of US for 3 years but he said I only left 10 weeks ago and immigration officer let him in. This is because when you leave US, there is no immigration so if a green card holder leave USA, they do not know when you left (compared to tourist visa when they attach a slip in your passport which airline check in people remove so they know when you left the country). Yet another person I read about as follows. This person left US to go to France to attend a wedding. 10 days later when he was returning, he found out that he left his green card in a relatives home who is not contactable. There was no time to wait so he decided to enter US under visa waiver having electronically registered the same in US embassy at Paris. Then he came back to France within the time it said on the sticker stuck to his passport. He then collected his green card and entered US with his green card and there was no problem. There are three scenarios above and I need to ask which I can get away with. This is the last time I will leave US, You guys will think I should not be allowed to enter US as I had no intyention of staying there. Not true. I could not stay due to lack of funds and was ill with diabetis and could nto pay doctor and even a dentist. I am now in touch with a person who says he will give me below minimum wage for 18 hours work per day for at least 15 months. I do need to enter US and I am at my wits end. Please advise as I do not want to lose the green card. I wish I had done a few hours a week job when I was there upto 2005 or even applied for citizenship and then I could have been out of US even for decades. Help from legally qua;ified people greatly appreciated. PS: Does US now keep records for departure from USA (for green card holders) and how about me entering US via Toronto or may be under visa waiver and then return to UK within the expiry period and then enter US again but with green card. moreResolved Question: Hey people, did you know .. ?

I had an accident two days ago with a pickup truck. It was completely his fault and I had no way to avoid it. I was driving a 1998 minivan. I did not get hurt neither did he. My van took damage on the front but nothing happened to the engine. It is fixable. Some of the damages are major dents and the radiator is leaking. This is my first accident since I took my license 20 years ago. I love this van and it has a high sentimental value to me and my whole family. There is no way I can let it go. Sadly, I’ve never thought it will come to this. The insurance company had it evaluated and says the value for my van is $4,000 since it has a mileage of 300,000 km and it’s old. As you can see I’ve traveled to many places on this lovely vehicle. They since it will also take around $4000 to fix it they could only give me the money and they’ll take the van. I am not in a very good financial state right now either. I am very confused. Any suggestions on how to get my van repaired by the insurance company (which is TD btw)? I live in Montreal, QC but the accident occurred in Toronto, ON while on a visit. Thank you. moreResolved Question: Do you agree with Mark Madden or is there another reason he is always negative about everything?
CHARGE OF THE LITE BRIGADE It’s easy to see where TNA’s ECW revolution is heading: Tommy Dreamer is going to wind up in charge under the guise of Paul E. Lite, and a whole lot of TNA stalwarts are going to flee to the new Wilpon promotion. Emboldened by Impact’s latest rating – only a total twit would be encouraged by a tenth-of-a-point gain, but Dixie Carter qualifies – Dreamer will convince Dixie he can do what Heyman would, but without firing anyone and anyway, Tommy booked a lot more of the original ECW than he was given credit for (yeah, right). Dreamer is pure mid-card, if that, but what an amazing opportunist. Hey, he married Beulah. It’s insane to think that this salute or that style is anything beyond stop-gap but, like I said, we can all see where this is going. A lot of TNA performers have certainly caught said drift. Many want NOTHING to do with EV2, some vociferously so. You think Hulk Hogan wants his bald spot caved in by a Singapore cane? Wilpon is the next mark, and hasn’t yet had a chance to lose faith in the usual suspects. But he will. He will. Parenthetically speaking, Hogan’s current situation is a mess, if rumors are to be believed. He reportedly made a lump-sum divorce settlement to his wife, Linda, who used some of that dough to buy her way out of the car-wreck lawsuit. Said infusion of cash enabled the aggrieved to lawyer up and continue suing Hulk. Stuck with a mansion he can’t sell, Hogan is allegedly in deep, deep financial trouble and, for the first time, that last big match isn’t out there. Every time I criticized Hogan back when, I was sternly reminded, “That man enabled us all to make a lot of money.” Maybe those same people will pass the hat for Hulk. Or maybe the sun will fall out of the sky. If guys like Bischoff, Heenan and Okerlund learned one thing from Hogan, it was “Every man for himself.” If you want to see the face of truth, check out Raven when all this ECW gaga permeates TNA TV. He looks like a shoplifter. Those guys are stealing. Scotty knows it, and he can’t hide it. Hey, where’s Kimona? Her, I would like to see. The “success” of EV2 on TNA will probably spawn another series of “Hardcore Homecoming” indie shows. Can’t wait. At least TNA will have successfully promoted SOMETHING. Bruce Mitchell of Pro Wrestling Torch is writing an excellent series on how to fix TNA, and he makes one particular point I’d like to expand upon – the crowd at the Impact Zone wouldn’t like the necessary changes. So what? They’re freeloaders, and they’re holding back TNA. You can’t let one crowd in one arena dictate your big picture THE SLOP DROP Samoa Joe’s suspension from TNA isn’t a story. Who cares? But that Joe – a total nobody in the big picture – felt conceited enough to throw a series of tantrums shows how the Internet wrestling community has twisted the business. Joe sucks. Always has. He’s an ugly, fat bastard who speaks haltingly and unconvincingly. Overwrought facials, too. He looks tough, and works tight, but big deal. He’s never drawn. Never been on the big show. He’s a NOBODY. But Joe believes his own BS. Joe’s BS was birthed and nurtured by the IWC. I’ve never talked to ANYONE, not ONE SINGLE PERSON legitimately connected to wrestling, who thought Joe was anything even remotely special. But the IWC latched onto his work in ROH, embraced it, embellished it and appraised Joe as a big star. Joe believed it. The IWC was wrong. Joe was wrong. He sucks. Forget the suspension. TNA should fire his fat, frumpy ass. WWE would NOT come calling. PAY UP, SUCKERS I need to write a book. To wit – before going to work for WWE, Trish Stratus interviewed with WCW. I was there. It was before a PPV in Toronto. WWE didn’t even know who she was at the time. Why didn’t Trish work for WCW? I know why. Someday I’ll tell – for $25.95, hardcover.I didn't write it Mark did just know some people read his column's.I was just wanting to know why he is always down on TNA so much? moreVoting Question: Stuff stolen from hotel room in Toronto, On...?
My husband and I are staying in downtown Toronto. Our first morning here, we left for about an hour and a half. When we came back, we found our door ajar and noticed our netbook was missing. After we checked out the door, we noticed that the dead bolt comes out and stays out unless you open the door at an optimal speed. We came in and out of our room several times our first night and it never happened. As best we can tell, and confirmed by the hotel staff, we opened the door too quickly, and it triggered the dead bolt to remain open. When we checked back at the door after we heard it hit the door jam, it was only a cursory glance to ensure the door was closed. We certainly didn't expect the dead bolt to be triggered. Anyway, my question is do we have any legal recourse against the hotel. The door/dead bolt phenomenon is a repeatable scenario. We showed the security officer that it could be done easily, and without notice under several opening conditions. He said it was our fault that we didn't check the door, but we feel we have a reasonable expectation of security... which necessarily includes that the door will shut when closed, every time. Anyway, just a little flustered right now. We would certainly appreciate any help. moreResolved Question: Why is Mac considerably more expensive in Canada when it`s a Canadian based company?
Each eyeshadow from MAC is literally 19 dollars in Canada; compared to the measly 14$ you pay in the states. Don`t even get me started on the price of blush or beauty powder. When the `To The Beach` Collection came out back in May, I went to purchase that super cute sea horse designed large beauty powder; thinking it was only 26 dollars as I read online. It tuned out to be 40 bucks in Canada!!! wtffffffffffffffffff. Bought it anyway though; while nashing my teeth. Union subway station is really busy, yet it does not have a public washroom. I am not sure why, but this really bothers me, even though I hardly ever use TTC public washrooms anyway. Not only is Union the bottom of the Yonge-university-spadina, it is also a very busy streetcar terminal station, where there are literally about 70 people that get off of every streetcar. You'd think a station as busy as this one would have a public washroomUnion *subway* station people. From Philadelphia they got J.A Happ, Jonathan Villar, and Anthony Gose. Then the Astros flip Anthony Gose around and sent him to Toronto for 1st Baseman Brett Wallace. Who as Ed Wade described is a "Hitting Machine no question about that" I heard Toronto fans are not happy about that last part. As an Astros fan I am happy about these guys coming in and I believe they can help us out for awhile. moreResolved Question: Volunteer hours in Toronto for high school 40 hours?

My son is a UK citizen. He came on vacation to visit me in the USA via Toronto, Canada. His flight landed in Toronto and he was checked by Canadian Immigration and all was in order. He then took his final flight from Toronto to Detroit. On boarding the flight in Toronto,he showed his British Passport and boarded the flight. He arrived in Detroit and on his arrival at Detroit Metro Airport, his passport was not checked once, as the flight he came into the USA on, was classed as a DOMESTIC FLIGHT from Canada. Why was this flight treated as an internal flight when it crossed the international border between Canada and the USA???? There is a definite loophole here which needs to be sealed. Wouldn't you agree????Thank you so much for clarifying that. I did not realize that once someone had cleared inward through Canadian Immigration, that they did not need to clear through Immigration on the USA side of the border. Having said that, I remember when I had to show my passport to USA Immigration when I was crossing the bridge from Canada into the USA, after having already passed through Canadian Immigration in Toronto.. I am also a British Citizen married to an American. moreResolved Question: Week 5 fictional bet?
Last week saw Shakey win with a $76 profit and stampsfan7310 was the big loser with a $130 loss. This week will also see the first time prop bets are used (I know I said last week but it was a crazy week for me and it slipped my mind). Here are the odds for the games: Game 1 Toronto 6.00 v. Montreal 1.25 Game 2 BC 2.50 v. Edmonton 2.40 Game 3 Hamilton 3.85 v. Saskatchewan 1.45 Game 4 Winnpeg 3.85 v. Calgary 1.45 Prop Bets: Will Toronto's running back Boyd rush for more than or less than 100 yards against Montreal? Over 100 yards - 1.25 Under 100 yards - 3.00 Will Edmonton score more than 20, or 20 or less. Over 20 points - 3.5 20 points or under - 1.25 Much like the games, you are under no obligation to make a prop bet. If you do, you can bet as much as you like. On the spreadsheet the Edmonton odds are listed as less than 20, but for the sake of their being no gap, I'm making it 20 or less. This also applies to Boyd. If he rushes for 100 yards exactly, it will be considered to be under. I also came up with the odds myself, so if you need justification just e-mail me and I'll explain it. Hey guys, my names Dan and I go to a public highschool in Toronto, Canada that caters for kids 13-18, I'm 15 and having some problems. I've been getting a hard time recently and need some help. I have 3 best-friends, lets call them X, P and Q .The new Semester just started a few weeks ago and X has been away for the first month. X. P usually joins in and Q sits back and laughs or does nothing. P is definantely not shy, P's about my height and build and really sometimes really weird and just blurts crap for cheap laughs but is nice when alone, same goes for Q but he's a lot smaller. X, the ringleaders is kind of aggressive he's really loud and he's a few inches shorter than me but makes up with it by having a few pounds on me. I'm the tallest by a tiny bit. The only thing is Im really skinny and slim and very quiet and reserved, im kinda like the groups weakest link in a way. Anyway I'll give you an idea on what's going on, I'll use yesterday as an example seeing that todays a day off for me. In the morning everything was fine so I'll outline what happened at recess. We're all in a group then P just poinst and laughs at me totally randomly for no reason. I give him a push and casually tell him to piss off with a smile then X comes over and pins me to the ground and tells me not to do that to P. Then I agreed and got back up then P rubbed an apple in the ground and made me take a bite after they both spat on it, I said no and crushed it with my foot then they threw the remainders at me. Then they just paid me out and then started screaming at me for no reason? then they started throwing punches really close to my face then stopping. Then they apologise and treat me reguarly for the rest of lunch? I mean WTF, X is a good friend when he's alone.... I feel upset because I've done Boxing for 3 years and could knock this kid out in one punch, Im just so shy and stuff and if I stand up for myself it'll only make it worse, and telling the teachers won't help either. I come from a small village in Scotland and I want to move abroad, preferably somewhere with an overall sunny and warm climate (but I can handle the cold I just don't like this almost eternal greyness we have in Scotland even during the summer. I'm going to be doing a tourism course at college so hopefully that will help. I've kind of narrowed it down to Australia, California or Canada ( I know that Canada is cold but I heard that they have good summers while in Scotland not so much and I just like the idea of living there). There's a lot to think about over choosing where and then if you should emigrate I just want some info on these 3 places. Would Australia and Canada be easier to move to because they're part of the British Commonwealth? Are Australia and California as good as they're meant to be? (I hear that Australians aren't so nice to immigrants. LA is meant to have a lot of crime, bad traffic, public transport and pollution) How expensive would it be to live there (I know I wouldn't be living right on a beach or somewhere like Santa Monica but I'm not wanting to move to some wasteland.) I've to study a language at college and I have an A at French and have done some Spanish obviously with Canada having French as an official language and California having a latin base it would be handy to learn 1 of these. But I'd prefer to do French would that be a huge waste if I moved to California and worked in Tourism? What's your thoughts on particular places i.e LA, San Diego, San Jose, Melbourne, Sydney Montreal, Toronto etc And Finally (I think) which place would be gay friendly (I know there is no guarantee of prejudice but you know what I mean) I know I'm asking a lot but if you have anything that would help me I would appreciate it a lot. moreResolved Question: Im having trouble understanding this bill?
For more than 60 years, Jews around the world have cherished their right to return to Israel. Now the “law of return” is in danger of becoming a law of exclusion. Last week, a Knesset committee approved a draft bill that would narrowly define Judaism according to a specific ultra-Orthodox strand. Critics say the change could prevent thousands of Jewish converts, and their children, from being granted citizenship because the rabbinical authorities in Israel do not recognize Reform and Conservative conversions as authentically Jewish. In fact, even some Orthodox converts could be excluded if the Israeli religious authorities do not consider their conversions Orthodox enough. This week Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, said he would not support the bill. His decision came after intense lobbying from outside Israel. When the modern state of Israel was created in 1948, Jews living in an often hostile world knew they could always find a haven in their ancestral land. After centuries of anti-Semitism, culminating in the catastrophe of the Holocaust, Israel made it clear all Jews would always be welcome and granted automatic citizenship. There was no stipulation whether the person was Jewish by birth or conversion — and nor did it matter where or how the conversion took place. A Jew was a Jew and the door was open. David Rotem, a member of the Knesset and the bill’s sponsor, has said it is intended to help complete the conversion of Russian Jews, Israel’s largest immigrant group, so they could fully take part in Jewish ritual life — and it would not affect the law of return. Supporters say it would also create a common religiosity among Jews. But these arguments are not reassuring to critics, especially those in North America. “It would be the first time that you have a legislative authority for matters of Jewish identity being given to a single narrow religious authority,” said Rabbi Steven Wernick, chief executive officer of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, the leading Conservative Jewish group in the United States. “That’s never happened in Jewish history,” added the rabbi, who was in Jerusalem this week to lobby against the proposed legislation. Numbers of converts worldwide are difficult to come by but a study in 2001 found 170,000 converts out of a Jewish population of 5.5 million in the United States. Judaism has always had a biological component in that the religion passes from mother to child. Given the number of invasions ancient Israel suffered, and the incidence of rape, there was not always a way to determine paternity with certainty, so maternity became the standard. But within that there was flexibility. Anyone could join the faith after instruction. And so the children of a female convert would be considered Jewish. In the Bible, Ruth who was a Moabite, decided to stay with her Jewish mother-in-law and become a Jew by choice. “She made a conversion of the heart,” said Rabbi Erin Polonsky, a pastor at Temple Sinai, a Reform synagogue in Toronto. “She decided the Jewish people were her people and the Jewish God her God. I’m not sure she would be accepted by the ultra-orthodox rabbis of today.” Rabbi Polonsky said the new bill has the potential to be divisive on many levels, including the psychological message that Israel would send to Jews living abroad. “I’m incredibly worried for my converts and their ability to operate as Jews in the world. But if this should go through, it would mark a huge break between Israel and the Jewish diaspora,” she said. “I believe there is a variety of approaches to Judaism that are all expressions of how to be Jewish. But if this law is passed it would be the state saying to Jews around the world that you’re not good enough in our eyes.” For American and Canadian Jews, who are mainly not ultra-orthodox, it is considered a denigration of their form of Judaism, said Rabbi Gary Bretton-Granatoor, vice-president of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, which represents Reform Jews. He said the situation in Israel would be like Christian fundamentalists being given the right to decide who is worthy of U.S. citizenship. “At a time when Israel needs all the friends it can get, to now try to disenfranchise a large swath of Jews around the world is idiotic,” he said. Observers of Israeli culture say it seems strange from the outside, then, that a small minority of fundamentalist rabbis can hold sway over a population that is more secular than religious and alienate staunch Jewish supporters who live outside Israel, especially Canadian and American Jews. Part of the reason this exists today is historical: the original Zionist settlers were more interested in a secular state and carving out a haven for refugees; they were happy to leave religious affairs to the ultra-orthodox sect. Over time, the ultra-orthodox population has grown tremendously through higher-than-average birthrat moreResolved Question: $75 for a Kenny Loggins concert?
I would like to see him but I think $75 is kinda steep for someone like Kenny Loggins. I live in Canada and he's coming to a town with a population of 110 000 so maybe he charges more for places that aren't as big as Toronto. Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver etc. What do you guys think??? moreVoting Question: Are there such things as races and nationailities?
I had been thinking a lot lately. Well, I personally had been brought up in a very multicultural city(Toronto). And I have seen many people, and experiences many incidents related to "race". Which sparks the question, is there such thing as a “race”? Sure people look "different" from their 0.2% of gene variations. And the way individuals are brought up by their "cultures". But if you see pass that; aren't people just..... people? What defines a person? Is it things/stereotypes that are related to their "races" and nationality? I found many people unintentionally "groups" people by their skin colors, facial features, and languages, and finally by their nationalities. And by the end of the day, we all become victims of ourselves. From verbal abuse to race war/hate crimes, people are acting in certain ways because of what they related to as "their race/nations"... Can people truly see a person as a person without any sorts of inferences by his/her race and ethnicity? Is it because what the media told us? Is it cultures? I don’t know... Below are some more specific examples that I have came across in real life: I know this friend of mine named Sam who’s from East Asian descents (China), but was grown up in North America. He was what people would call a "white-washed Asian". He told me the only thing Chinese* about him is his appearance. He is friends with many people that are from different "races"& countries, & say that sometimes he wishes people can just see him as Sam instead of an Asian guy. He gets all sorts of stereotypes, not the he CAN care too much, but he just want people to understand that he really is just a person and have nothing to do with his “race”. Asian groups say he is not a real Asian because the way he acts, and other ethnic groups won’t accept him. Another friend of mine named Philip is a "mixed-race" person, half black and half white. He couldn't fit into communities because he is not what they called "pure", or just not exactly black OR white. And so he have trouble blending into groups. And people would give him the looks. Wondering what IS he exactly. He has problems with his mum and dad’s sides of the family as well simply because of who he is. The list goes on, from minor stereotypes, racist jokes, people with pre-justices against coloured people, condemnation on other religions/cultures, to the blood spilled from wars fought against countries in the name of their pride & patriotism. But my point is, why can't we see people as people instead of their races, cultures, or every nationality? I am not saying everyone has bad intensions, but it just seems like people have the idea of "races" or nationality drilled into their brains. I KNOW indifferences between ethnic groups are seen everyday, and they are indeed VERY real. People presume things to be true about other groups just from what they heard or the few specific incidents he/she experienced; we love to generalize people into groups. So one don’t agree with the others, which leads to fights, eventually into conflicts between entire groups of nations. As long as we accept such ideas, there will always be issue between PEOPLE. No matter what positive deeds one group have done to the other, it will always be out-weighted by the negatives. Our current world has barely mange to stay in peace, with all our world leaders concerning only about THIER countries & “THEIR people”. There’s really nothing strong holding us together. Which means we will inevitably break into indifferences, & sooner or later, they are turned into conflicts, then finally, destined to the path of wars? But I strongly believe that, people are only affected by cultures, believes, governments, and ideas in general... Is it possible for us to over-come all these barriers? So that maybe one day there will no longer be a race or even country? And everyone can truly be treated equally and get along? United as One Nation and live together as the human race. So THEN when we greet a person, we won’t even bother to ask what country they are from, or their race and ethnicity; because those information say nothing about that INDIVIDUAL. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Nationalism is an infantile disease. These are my thoughts on the situation in the NBA right now, its pretty lenghty but I'd like some opinions anyways if possible...to note i'm from Toronto and a Raptors fan so i may have some bias. I also made some jokes but i mean no offence to anyone reading this. Hey there, I know this is more than a week late but I've been busy with assignments...still am but I'm procrastinating and decided to write this note. Maybe its good that I'm writing this note now because I've had time to think about the both situations and now I'm going to post my opinions. I actually am neutral on both issues and not sure what side I'd take. If anyone disagrees with anything I say, of course you can respond back...thats the reason I posted this. Sorry if this real long too, I normally wouldn't post my opinion for anything other than hockey but this is kinda a big deal. I also may end up comparing these issues to related issues in other sports. First off, its time to talk CB4. There are some fans that are angry at him for leaving and some fans that thank him for his time and will cheer him on in Miami. Here's the way I see it: When I first thought about bosh, I remembered how people started to joke last december when the jays traded roy halladay. it was sundin in 2008, halladay in 2009, and will be bosh in 2010...well they were right. i was thinking of comparing the bosh situation to sundin and halladay but then i realised that would be a slap in the face to the both of them. don't get me wrong, i don't hate cb4. in my eyes sundin is the greatest leaf(they've existed since 1928) and greatest swede to ever play the game and chances are he's a hall of famer come 2012. also when he left, there were some that didn't like how he didn't wave his no-trade but he insisted that he didn't want to abandon his team in the middle of the season and even when he played in vancouver, he wasn't the same and many think its because he didn't play with the same heart he had when he was with the leafs. he also kept showing up to toronto charity events during the off-season and thanks toronto for everything they've done for him. in my eyes halladay is the greatest pitcher the jays have ever had and if he keeps at the pace he's going at, he'll likely be a hall of famer as well. when he left, he took a full page out of the toronto sun to thank jays fans for everything they've done. as for bosh however, i don't see it like that. he is a good player, but i don't think he is a franchise player. i'll admit i used to think he was until last season when the raps got jermaine oneal and they were struggling...then i realised if he was truly a franchise player, the team wouldnt be doing so poorly. also the way he left leaves a bitter taste. his tweeting and the way he sat out the last few games of the season kind of ticked me off, if the injury was serious i understand but you see guys like steve nash battle through tough injuries and i wish bosh did the same when the season was on the line. at the same time though from the viewpoint of those that still love bosh, people complain that colangelo never brought bosh a talented supporting cast like other playoff teams have. you can agree to the point there....no offence to anyone reading this but the raptors need to stop with the euro approach and think like the celtics(as much as i hate them), all black everything. he also did show some passion when he was here and to his credit, worked really hard. i just never saw him as my favorite raptor, i felt that liked mo pete more than bosh for work ethich and knowing his role. bosh stated he didn't want to be a robin to batman but he went back on his word and signed with miami...but in the eyes of someone else, i guess you can say he didn't go back on his word because he'll be a 3rd option so wade and lebron will be batman and robin. i don't hate bosh because i knew it was time for him to leave and the raptors needed to rebuild but its the way he left that leaves a bitter taste. the raptors never won a playoff round while he was here so hopefully he gets (and probably will) past the 1st round. but for those that hate bosh, here's a suggestion i have for what you could do, take a page out of bosh's book. over the summer make a 30-min documentary about how you got over chris bosh leaving and your hope for the raptors to do well and get a tattoo or a car or something else of significance and name the documentary "first ink" or "first car" or first whatever. then go on twitter (or facebook for those like me who don't use twitter) about a month before the season starts and on your status post "how loudly should i boo chris bosh?"...then after 6 hours post "let me rephrase the question: should i cheer or should i boo?" i know this sounds stupid but this is close to what chris was dolol, i had a feeling this would be way too longgood answer sly swagger, gotta respect thatJustin N, while I disagree to an extent with what you said about Sundin, I respect your opinion. Sundin did move West by the way I think to avoid playing the leafs often. And you have the right to cheer bosh, i won't boo him although i can't blame those that doI almost forgot to add, well done Justin N! Unless someone can top that, easily best answer moreResolved Question: Should I contact the producer of my favorite childhood TV show? Please read at least first 3 lines!?
Before you read below, let me know if its too long and I'll come back in 5 minutes and let you know which paragraphs are important to read. I know some people on yahoo don't like to read through long questions to answer. Hey there, I'm an 18 year old male living about a half-hour from Toronto. I was wondering whether I should contact someone who used to produce my favorite childhood TV show? Or at least I think she was a producer, I'm not sure. I'm sure she wrote some episodes and I remember the Canadian channel that broadcasted the show interviewed her about the show. I started rewatching episodes of the show in 2007, it originially aired in 1999. Then recently I remembered her name and just randomly decided to search her on google (I was just curious to see if she was American or Canadian), she isn't very famous I guess so she wasn't on wiki. One of the links showed me her facebook page, I just clicked it but thought it was a coincidence. However the profile picture of her looked similar to what I remember her looking like when I was a kid, can't remember for sure though. To even give me a better reason to believe its her, it said one of her "likes "was the American TV channel that used to broadcast the show(in Canada we could watch it on the Canadian and American channel) and logically, why would someone that old like a kids channel? The show was great for its first 2 seasons but went down the gutter after and it clearly isn't as popular as it once was. They changed the characters after the first 2 seasons and then they'd change the characters each season from then on. Most fans of the show loved the characters from the first 2 seasons and wished (and still wish) that the producers would continue with those characters. I wanted to find out why the producers decided to go this rout? There is so much that could be done with the first 2 seasons, plotholes that could easily be explained/expanded on in other seasons. I was wondering if it would be right for me to contact her through sending a facebook message? I understand maybe she likes her privacy, that's why I didn't post the name of the show or her name but chances are someone smart may know this from the hints i've given..a risk i had to take. I just wanted to know what her role in the show is and why producers went this route when it seems ratings could be higher if they went the old rout. And if its fine for me to message her, do you think my email should be formal and long, or just concise to found out if its really her or not? Thanks in advance! moreResolved Question: How long does it take for USPS to deliver a package coming from Toronto, Canada to Alabama, US?
It has been in the US (in New Jersey to be exact) since the 14th.The status reads, "Inbound International Arrival" whatever that means, lol. About how much longer should it take to arrive? This is the first time I've ordered something from Canada before and it was shipped out the 9th, so it feels like I've been waiting for a while now. I don't know if this information helps, but the package weighs about 3-4 pounds and the Canadapost website lists it as, "Expedited USA" shipping while the USPS lists it as, "Priority Mail International Parcels". hey guys, i have a couple questions on my acting, but first, i want to give you some background information... I do have experience ; i've been in the 2010 MMVA's (Much music video awards) in ke$ha's performance + i have a new television teen reality show coming out in the end of august + i've done musical theatre dance + school plays - that sorta thing. OH, AND I'M FOURTEEN. FIFTEEN IN SEPTEMBER. :) and i'm really tall... but thin. 5'8'' Everyone thinks i'm really good, but i've done the MMVA's and the show by myself - i don't have an agent. But i'm starting to think i should get one because it would open more + better opportunities. But i need some help. I live in Toronto, Canada, so there are several agents available, so could you suggest a few good ones? I really want to get on Degrassi next year, so what would be good for that ? and possibly some commercials or canadian shows? How should i prepare for an agent? I know you need head shots, so how do those work? -size - colour etc. And is it possible to do them myself or somewhere cheap like Walmart or another photo place, besides going to a really expensive place? Also, what do i do when i pick an agent? What should i say when i call? Or should my parents call? What will happen after the phone call? When i go there, what will my interview be like and usually, what happens? (a skit or something? :L) See, as you can tell, i don't know much about agents.. Please help me? Also, any other information you may have will be helpful. THANKS! :) moreResolved Question: am i the only one that see's a heel turn coming for John Cena real soon?
ok before you all start saying no he is making to much money for the WWE hear me out most of his matches since Extreme Rules have had Cena do some things in match that a true face would never do. First, he duct tapes Batista to win a Last Man Standing match. This is an example of the classic heel "cheat to win"-type thing. Then, on Raw in Toronto, he throws Sheamus multiple times into the steel steps. At Over the Limit, Cena FU's (I refuse to call it the Attitude Adjustment) Batista right off the stage. Then, a couple of weeks ago, he destroys a member of Nexus... kind of excessively, in my opinion. Not only that, but he also completely ignored an authority figure. This ignoring of an authority figure continued last week as he refused to do the "good guy" thing and shake Barrett's hand (as the original poster mentioned). All of the examples mentioned above are not what you would think and babyface would do and each week, I think a Cena heel-turn is imminent more and more.the reason i think it has took this long to turn him heel is because they have not found another person that can take his place and now Randy Orton is getting louder pops than cena and they are going to make randy the new face.i think cena will turn heel by being revealed behind the nexus. what do you think. moreResolved Question: What do you think of my book so far?
Hi! I would post this on inkpop but it'd be on private until I posted 10,000 words, but here's the first chapter. (Don't worry, I did format this on Word--italics, indentation, justified and all that.) It's called Still Around : ) Hope you guys like it! One “It is way too hot out to be early spring.” I rolled my eyes, propping myself up on one elbow to face my best friend, Amy. “What do you expect? This is Florida, not Toronto.” She frowned at my comment and sat up, reaching back to tie her silky black hair into a ponytail. Her big black eyes blinked repeatedly and it was my turn to frown. Before I could speak, though, she voiced my thoughts herself. “These damn contacts are so hard to adjust to!” I shrugged. “Why not just use your glasses?” I suggested earnestly. “And risk looking like a total dork again? Please! I don’t need that,” she objected. “You look like a dork all the time,” I teased. She responded to this with an irritated smack in the arm. We were lying on my bed, listening to our iPods and debating what to do for the weekend. The AC was on at full blast, and even then it felt like a boiler room in my house. Amy groaned, flopping onto her back again. “Living in Miami isn’t all it’s cracked up to be,” she complained. I patted her shoulder and couldn’t help but admire her. Her petite body and high cheekbones were enviable and she was intelligent. Plus, she was my best friend and there for me—most of the time. What more could I ask for? Well, maybe for her to shut up. “I know,” I replied. We were quiet for a few minutes longer, the only noises coming from playing kids outside and my AC. Suddenly, she sat up, grinning. “I know! You know about that party tonight, right?” “No.” She flailed her arms around excitedly. “Oh, my gosh! We should go! Best friend bonding time.” Typical Amy. She gets over-excited about everything. She’d thrown me a surprise sweet sixteenth birthday party last year, and as sweet as the idea was, she’d invited a whole bunch of people I hardly knew. Totally awkward the entire time. Oh well, the cake she made was delicious. “Why should we go, may I ask? In fact, I don’t even think I can go. Studying for my calc exam, all that jazz.” “You’re terrible at lying. I know you already studied your brains out last night for it. Anyways, it’s being hosted by Kirsten Wheeler. She invited us yesterday, remember?” Amy looked at me impatiently. I did remember, actually. I just wasn’t very fond of the whole party scene and getting beer spilled all over you. “Oh, right. Actually, I don’t want to go.” Amy made a pouty face, her typical “When I don’t get it my way I’ll just make this face” face. “Please, please, please Julia? I’d be super happy if you came. Really.” Resist the face! I screamed at myself. Resist it! I failed, though. With a slight smile I said, “Fine. I’ll go, but if all I see are drunk under aged high school students then I’m bolting, you hear me?” She seemed to have not heard a single word after “I’ll go” because she was squealing like a mad fool, hugging me until I felt like my lungs were going to burst. What was so special about this party, anyways? Most likely Amy’s long time crush, Tristan, would be there. She’d just blubber around him anyways, so what’s the point of going? Still, it would be different from my usual weekend study time. I could just let loose and relax. What could go wrong? <><><> Let me just point out that asking “What could go wrong?” is basically jinxing yourself to cause a bunch of horrible things. Just saying. First off, Amy called me while I was on the way to Kirsten’s house that she couldn’t come. “You’re kidding me!” I exclaimed incredulously. She sighed on the other end. “I know. I’m so sorry, Jules. My parents have to work late tonight so I have to watch my kid brother. Hey, Van! Cut that out—ow!” I heard muffled giggling and a loud smack. “You brat! I’ll get you!” Her voice sounded distant and I assumed she’d pulled the phone away from herself so I couldn’t hear. Good luck there, Amy. “Listen, I have to go. Van’s hitting me with his freaking Legend of Zelda sword. Have fun at the party! Love you bye!” There was a click, and then the dial tone. As angry as I was, there was no point in turning back home now. I’d already told Mom and Dad I’d be out, of course omitting where I’d actually be. Plus, I wanted to kick back and relax. Well, as soon as I’d arrived, I already felt totally out of place. I’d stepped through the door and the thumping music overwhelmed me. Sure, I like music, but not so loud it’ll make my ears bleed! Plus, I’d already received a few shocked expressions. Julia Graham, Valedictorian-to-be and total good girl at a party? Shocking! Also, there were way too many people here. I recalled Kirsten’s words when she invited us yesterday. “Hey!” she’d greeted Amy and me at lunch. Amy and I exchanged quick, confused glances. It wasn’t as if we were pAmy and I exchanged quick, confused glances. It wasn’t as if we were popular, but we weren’t unpopular either. But Kirsten Wheeler talking to us? She barely gave us a second glance whenever we passed each other in the halls. There had to be only one reason she’d talk to us…. “We’re not helping you with your homework,” Amy told her bluntly. I secretly jabbed her in the side with my elbow. “Rude much?” I mouthed. She shrugged and replied silently, “You knew it was coming.” Kirsten laughed a fake, cheery laugh. It was her way of brushing off an obvious insult—just laugh it off. “No, no. I could just ask Tony to do it for me!” she joked. Silence on our end. Tony wasn’t exactly the brightest kid around, and we all knew that. I gave her points for trying to lighten up the mood a little though. She cleared her throat and continued, “Anyways… my parents are going to Jacksonville to visit some family this weekend. I didn’t want to go because, you know, perfect opportunity to throw a party.Right?” “Uh, sure,” I murmured while Amy let out a gleeful “Totally!” I was so tempted to shoot her a deathly look but she would’ve just ignored me; Kirsten was already blabbing on. “So I was wondering if you guys would want to come over Saturday night to hang out. It’s going to be a small party, not a lot of people. We’ll have drinks—beer, of course—and food. So how about it?” she offered. Her heavily make-upped blue eyes gazed at us so intently it looked as if she was almost begging us to go. But why us, of all people? If it was going to be a small group of people then she should just invite her own friends. There had to be a catch, but as always, big mouth Amy got her answer in before me. “We’ll see,” she answered subtly.Kirsten grinned and clapped her hands. Bimbo, I thought. Okay, maybe I was being a total bitch in my mind right now but I still couldn’t fathom the reason why she’d invite us. In general, people said hi and were nice to Amy and me. We weren’t anti-social but we also weren’t the most outgoing people around. Well, I wasn’t anyways. Amy is, and yet, she sticks around with the shyest girl in school. “Awesome. Hopefully I’ll see you there!” She flounced away towards another table. I rolled my eyes and took a swig of my water bottle. Was this her idea of a small group of people? Then again, nearly everything about Kirsten was big—besides her waist and her brain. Ha! I crack myself up.I already felt a sense of claustrophobia rising up inside me, and I’d barely made it through the front door. “Excuse me, sorry,” I mumbled as I tried pushing my way through the tight group. Halfway through the jungle of sweaty, drunk teenagers I felt a tap on my shoulder. With as much effort as I could muster, I turned my head over my shoulder to see who it was. “You made it!” Kirsten crowed. “Yeah, I did.” Thanks for stating the obvious. She held up a red plastic cup, containing some sort of frothy caramel colored liquid. “Want some?” she offered. I sniffed. “What is it?” I asked. She guffawed and a few people turned to look, amused expressions written all over their faces. “It’s beer, silly!” Yuck. “Uh, no thanks. I don’t drink.” She shrugged, taking a sip of her own. “Suit yourself. The keg’s out back in case you change your mind,” she told me. “Do you have any pop or water?” I asked sheepishly. Nodding, she pointed in some direction I could barely follow before staggering off. Her golden blonde curls waved side to side like a grandfather clock pendulum, causing a few stares from boys and girls alike. I decided to at least try following where she’d pointed and continued my journey of squeezing through the crowd. Finally, I made it out and into the kitchen. It was relatively empty, besides for a couple guys smoking cigarettes and blunts. They eyed me thoughtfully as I bent down to the cooler, rummaging through the bottles of wine cooler and ice to the very bottom, where I was able to find a can of Dr. Pepper.“Hey,” one of the guys purred. I looked up out of the corner of my eye, brushing a stray lock of my auburn hair behind my ear. “I know you,” he said. “Well,” I said, standing up to my feet, “I don’t know you.” The guy, who had shaggy blonde hair and terrible acne, looked confused. His buddy laughed and smacked him upside the head. “She told you!” Cracking my can open and taking a small sip, I tried to squeeze through the crowd again. I remembered seeing a flight of stairs leading to an upstairs hallway so I made my way there. Once again, it took a while. By the time I made it to the foot of the steps I smelled like smoke, beer, and sweat. I was going to have to scrub the smell off of me when I got home.Just like the kitchen, the hallway was relatively empty. It was like everyone wanted to crowd into the family room downstairs. Well that’s perfectly fine with me! Quietly, I made my way up the steps—only to nearly get knocked back down by a door bursting open by a couple attached at the lips. I clung to the wall, waiting until they disappeared into another bedroom. I sighed, relieved, and shut the door. The hallway split into two different directions, left and right. The right kept continuing, doors stuck here every now and then. (Hey, I never said that Kirsten’s house was tiny. It was huge, truth be told.) Lucky for me, the left hall had a dead end. I rounded the corner, drink in hand, and took a spot in the corner. What is wrong with me? I thought as my lips touched the Dr. Pepper can, taking another small sip. I can’t believe I actually thought that, for once, I’d be able to just break out from my tight bubble and talk to people. Like, really talk to them. Not just a simple “Hello, how are you?” and then walk away. That just wasn’t me. I’m so dumb for coming here. How the hell could I possibly let Amy convince me to come? I was so going to kill her for bailing on me too. Sure, she had to babysit her little brother but at least let me know sooner than later so I could’ve prevented this from happening. The music was pumping even louder now with that new Usher song, OMG. “You make me want to say oh, oh…. Oh my gosh!” the crowd downstairs sang gleefully. I wish I could just get down there and party, but no. Stupid self. I was afraid that some elderly neighbors next door would call the cops, but who knows, they’re probably downstairs partying it up too.About seven more songs and a millennium passed before I began feeling sleepy so I decided that it was time to go home. So much for having fun. I was just finishing off my can of pop when I heard a deep, familiar voice utter my name. “Julia Graham.” Oh, dear god. Please don’t let it be him, I begged. Just… just check to see if it really is him. If not, nothing to worry about, right? With as much courage as I could muster, I looked up. Oh lord, help me please. moreResolved Question: Should Canada rethink it's Immigration and Refugee polices now ?
It seems that many of the current groups of Immigrants to Canada are unwilling to make any effort to conform to our laws and customs. "Honour Killings " and the face veil are only two of the many sore points that come to mind. I also see many who are simply here to get a Canadian passport, so they can go back home and live, like the Lebanese who demanded that Canada "rescue them " when their unending civil war flared up again a few years ago. As it stands now, Canada has one of the most lenient and open Immigration policies in the entire developed world, and we, as a country are being taken advantage of, by those who will lie, and cheat their way into Canada. If I was one of the honest Immigration applicants , that was waiting patiently in the line up, I would be really upset to see "gate crashers " blowing past me and my family, on the basis of their made up refugee sob stories. Is this the time to shut the door. to get a handle on the hundreds of thousands of illegals who are "somewhere in Canada " and can;t be found ? Should Canada close the loopholes that we all know are being exploited by the " Immigration consultants " who in many cases are not even qualified to be advising anyone ? Is it time to make the appeal process a one month deal not a nine year process, and should we change the Canadian citizenship rules to prevent "anchor babies " being born here by women who could never qualify to meet our Immigration rules ? Here are some solutions to this problem that I would suggest should become Canadian law. Immigration should be based on "what can you offer to Canada ". The first ten years in Canada are a "probation period " and you can be sent home if you are convicted of a indictable offense, and no one can get citizenship untill that 10 years of continual living in Canada has been satisfied.. They have to commit to " Being here ".". Each adult individual will sign a personal contract with Canada, stating that they will work and pay taxes each year, and that they will not commit any crimes in Canada, of any kind. Refugee claimants will be confined to a CF military base intill their case has been heard. While in detention thay will be taught English and instructed in "Canadian values " and made to keep the area clean, and help to perpare and serve meals to each other. Only English will be spoken by the detainees, during their classes. Those who find this too hard are free to be sent home, and never allowed to enter Canada again. Jim B. Toronto. .Thamain : Nice try, but my ancestors have been in Canada for over 200 years, so I don't consider myself to be a "recent Imigrant " and you may be interested to find out that I spent 30 years wearing the CF uniform, so don't call me "un Canadian " please. My points are perhaps too subtle for you to grasp, and working for "immigration " do not mean you have all the answers, either. Too close to the trees to see the forest, I think. I notice that you had NO positive suggestions to make. Typical do nothing Liberal attitude. Jim B.The Eh Team: Well said, and I agree with your point about "not allowing newcomers to set the agenda " My point is that some body has to stand up for the "old Canadians " who built this country that these new people want to rip apart. Jim B.Thinking : "Nastyness " ? Are you talking about the problem, or the solution ? We have all ready seen how fundamental Islam's followers In Canada, are willing to plan to kill our PM , blow up the TSX, and attack Parliament. How much more evidence do YOU need to come to the conclusion that we have a serious problem with our Immigration system ? Add to that the 160,000 missing refugee claimants who "can't be found " ? If we ( Canada ) are going to pay house and feed refugees and give them free medical and education, shouldn't that happen in a secure place, so we know where they are ? At least that way, we can find them again , when their Refugee applications are rejected. Canada does NOT owe the world a place to live. Jim B.RST : Although your quote is from American President John Kennedy, it is appropriate for this discussion. Canada has to tighten up on it's Immigration policies, strating with the idea that everyone needs to be able to "prove their status in Canada ". , when asked by a authority figure. This m,eans that everytime a person wants to open a bank account, get a mortgage or a loan, or buy property, they have to prove they are in Canada legally. The same goes for their kids being registered for school or buying a car or getting a credit card. THAT is how we weed out the illegals that live among us. And how about some pressure on the Judges who won't follow the law, and order deportations for "career criminals " who are NOT Canadian citizens ? The law allows them to be sent back to their home land, but most Judges won't do it. Jim B.Matt : The Candian Government is corrupt ?? Compared to what other country. India, where bribes are the norm, or Russia where the Mayfia runs the country ? Of China where it is a "one party system " ?? Surely you are exagerating a bit with that line ??? Of all the countries that I can think of , Canada is THE least corrupt. Jim B.Meisterj: Well said ,sir. You have covered just about all my original points very well. The question now is.......What Federal party has the balls to implement the needed changes ? I am positive that it WON"T be the Liberals. And for sure it won't be the Dippers. I guess that leaves the Conservatives to make the changes to our citizenship and immigration laws that any sensible person can see are sorely needed. Jim B. moreResolved Question: How much would this cost? (private jet + vacation)?
I am looking to 1) rent a small private jet 2) fly from Toronto to the Island Of Tahiti with 5 of my friends 3) stay there for 2-3 months in the best accommodations 4) come back on a private jet I really am just asking how much the private jet ride would cost because apparently onesky.com doesn't recognize Tahiti as a place and therefore cannot quote me a price..but if you've vacationed and have an idea how much really good accommodations cost on a random island then that'd be real nice.. or if you happen to know how I can come to own a house in Tahiti + costs and not have to get a whole new citizenship that'd be cool too. thx moreResolved Question: Fighting an unwritefully given Public Intoxication Ticket?
Hi there I came across this forum looking for advice on what I should do with a ticket I received Saturday night In Barrie, Ontario, Canada. First and foremost I'm going through the process of becoming a Police Constable with the Toronto Police Services, I'm not looking for any sympathy or excuses for me to make, just sound advice how I should go about a ticket I believe I was unwritefully given. Story: So I was at a house party, I called it a night after having a few drinks and went down to the basement to sleep till morning. I was awaken by panicing girls and one guy screaming about my friend had some girl in the house they didnt know, I had no idea what they were talking about, so in a haze I dressed and went looking for my friend to find him outside, with the girls screaming at us, I apologized on his behalf and said we'd be leaving now. I guess they called the cops because as we were walking to the plaza across the street we were stopped by 2 cruisers and that we matched the description etc... That was fine, they seperated us and started interrogating, making rediculous claims that I forced myself onto a girl?? I was outraged but kept my calm, he then asked me to put my hands on the car so i did, as he smacked my hat off my head, I said you have to be freaking kidding me man, didnt even listen to what i had to say and him and a fellow officer kicked and pretty much assaulted me assisting me into the back of the car in which I was not putting up a fight, I smacked my head on the top of the door. He then kept coming back to the cruiser making rediculous claims and accusing me of stuff I guess he wanted me to admit to, B and E etc...I told him look man im trying to become a cop I would not jeopardize my opportunity being stupid etc, and had nothing to lie about, I was at a party and I told them what happened so we left to look for a cab to go home. He then came back and said well luckily your future in becoming a cop is still up for grabs but you'll be staying in the drunk tank tonight etc...so off we went for 12 hours, whihc was the most unpleasant experience in my life! Not only was I NOT drunk, while I was at the station I asked for water in which I was rudely denied of etc...I never felt so violated in my life for something I never did. I didnt put up a fight, I didnt argue at the scene, at the station or when I was leaving, I obeyed respected and did what they asked of me., I just wanted to go home. Sorry for the rambling, but is there anyway I could fight this ticket I do not deserve, for one, it will effect my chances of becoming a successful police officer and it's truely embarrasing to be treated like that. When I've never been in trouble with the law etc... Also, if there is nothing I can do to fight this ticket, how will this effect my chances becoming a police officer, I know this doesnt look good at all! especially when I'm so close to getting on, having to explain this will be so embarrasing and look irresponsible from their point of view, as it does from mine, but like I said I was not drunk in public or causing any kind of offense or crime. Thanks in advance for any input. Kind regards, JamesSorry for my mispelling of "unrightfully" Was rambling off and forgot to spell check! moreResolved Question: info about pay-as-you-go phone?

does that mean that the entire protest was invalid? I'm thinking of a couple of recent examples. 1. The G 20 in Toronto. Thousands of people showed up to protest the cost of security for the event, which was over $1 billion, and the general tone of the meeting, which as always was mostly about how to make the rich richer and the poor poorer. The media coverage in the U.S. from Fox to The Daily Show focused exclusively on either what was discussed at the meeting or on the single police car that was set on fire and allowed by the police to burn for hours. No coverage of the protest itself or interviews with any of the thousands of reasonable, articulate people who made up the majority of the people there. No coverage of the thousand or so people who were arrested hours after the event who had nothing to do with any acts of violence or vandalism. 2. The protest in Oakland Ca. over the verdict in the case of Oscar Grant who was fatally shot in the back while lying face down by transit officer Johannes Mehserle who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, but beat the charges of 2nd degree murder and voluntary manslaughter. I'm sure you can still find the video of the shooting online. I saw it on Democracy Now. When thousands gather to make a powerful, collective statement and are then told that they constitute an unlawful assembly (so much for the right to assemble), then forcibly dispersed by police in riot gear is it really so surprising that a few might be angry enough to destroy property? These people have grievances. They want and need societal and political attention. For that they also need media attention. Would they get any at all if they just peaceably went home as soon as they were told? There was also the massive U.S. Social Forum 2 in Detroit recently. Thousands of people came from all over the U.S. It was a completely peaceful gathering of hundreds of groups representing the disabled, the poor, gays and lesbians and others who came together to work on creating a better system than the fascist national and global plutocracy we live under now. The theme was: A new world is possible. A new U.S. is necessary. A new Detroit is happening. The people of Detroit aren't creating a new system because they're better or smarter than anyone else, but because they were abandoned by their government and corporate "leaders" decades ago. The gathering was completely peaceful. No smashed windows or burnt cars. No riot police and no arrests. Did you see any coverage of the event anywhere? If you did would you tell me where? moreResolved Question: POLL: How much do HATE when people TOUCH your STUFF?

1. Before the G20, the toronto film studios, which are the size of two football fields, were filled with rows and rows of an exaggerated number of cages . (Yes, I said cages.. For people) 2. Most protesters were peaceful (Most being all except for about 20, which were men dressed in black, smashing windows of stores they were boycotting .) These men dressed in black were not arrested but allowed by the cops to do the damage they wanted . All the peaceful protesters sat in one place and held up peace signs . 3. At one point the cops came in, surrounded the PEACEFUL protesters letting no one leave for 5 hours and arrested ALL of them . (Not all were protesters, some where even pedestrians and people leaving restaurants) . Police handcuffed them, put them on a prison bus and took them to the cages . 4. Hundreds of innocent people aged 15-90 were put in these cages for 23 hours with limited water and food . Police walked by laughing, gay bashing and making sexist comments . NOTE: The law says you must be 18 to be imprisonned with adults, but 15 year olds were imprisoned with adults . 5. An image was posted on a website of two 'black bloc' men wearing the same shoes as the police and ADIDAS PANTS (A company these people were boycotting) . People believe they were undercover cops, (Doing damage?!?) FAIL ! So I repeat my question, Do you think this whole thing was a test by the government to see how easy it would be to control their people ? I really want peoples opinions on more than just what main media showed . moreVoting Question: how come we don't talk about how smart the bombs are anymore?

My boyfriend and i have been together for almost 2 years. We currently live together but are moving next month, he would like to get another place together but i am not so sure i want to go down that road. Im looking for some advice, or reassurance that i;m doing the right thing here. So any suggestions are welcome. Sorry that this is so loong ! When we first got together he was the sweetest guy, and i trusted him fully 100%. I had actually just gotten out of a bad relationship when we met ( my ex cheated on me a lot ) .. When me and my current boyfriend met i was finally at a good place with my life, had gotten over all of the pain of my previous relationship and was content on being single & alone, and very much so more confident then ever. I am however a relationship type of person so when i met my current boyfriend i gave it a shot when he asked me out. Maybe 3 months into our relationship we attended a party and he got super drunk and rubbed up another girls leg who sat on the opposite side of him while making out with me on the other :$, i seen this and got up immediately and left. I was disgusted, the next day he said it would never happen again he was so drunk he didnt know what he was doing, so that was that, it took time but i DID end up trusting him again and letting go of that. However, things got more complicated from there, he would talk to his ex on the phone but be sneaky about it and hide it, he would go out and see her with his friend while i was at home, he would tell me but i would get extremely mad because i was hurt and feeling betrayed. He cut her off but then it escalated to him flirting with multiple girls over the course of a year. Over facebook, msn, text messages, parties, his excuse was simply that " i made him angry", or " he thought i was talking to other guys" <-(with no proof mind you) so im thinking,, BS! .. Hed say things like " hey cutie, sexy, gorgeous" .. comment on there pictures in inapropriate ways, ask them to go to the club with him, or to go drinking with him. Each time he thought he was slick and id never found out however, internet history and msn history does wonders!!!.. Anyhow, 6 months ago, we got into a huge fight because i had caught him again, flirting and hitting on other girls, i went out with my dad to get some space and he went out with a buddy drinking in toronto during the hockey game when canada won?.. Anyhow, he ended up hitting on some girls down there, going back to there hotel room, drinking with them and hanging out with them all night. He didnt come home until 4am. And when drunk, i know from experience he is a total flirt! .. He came home and said he had the best night ever then went to sleep. I had called him that night and asked him if he was with girls and he said no. I was at home just watching a movie alone mind you. So when he fell asleep after getting home i went through his phone and found texts between him and his friend of him saying " im going to pick up some girls right now".. and his friend later replying " save me the brunette".. I later found an msn convo from him to a different friend who wasnt with him that night, but my bf saying how "the girls were sexy, they went back to there hotel room, and how he could have had a threesome." .. I showed him the convo and he looked at me in shock. Because he had told me he never chilled with any girls. He admitted he went to there hotel rooom but insisted NOTHING happend and he didnt even really talk to them. So now, 6 months later, He admits to me that, that night he was acting as if he were single. He told these girls he was single, and hit on them. He went back to there hotel room and drank with them with his friend. He said he touched the girl inapropriately, hugging her, and had his arm around her, he also admitted that he made a move on her to kiss her but insisted she said no that she had a boyfriend? Not sure i beleive what hes saying but sure. He keeps telling me i need to get over it, that it happend so long ago so its in the past, but im hurt that hes been lying to me for this long, and that it seems to be a reocurring thing with him. Should i even beleive that, thats all that happend? I mean, he lied about nothing happening in the first place rright? My problem is that im 5 months pregnant with his child, and that makes things veryy complicated. Everytime we fight i bring it up, and i keep envisioning him doing what he did in my head, i just cant get over it. my plan is to move out and get my own place, let things cool off and get some space and time to deal with it on my own. And hes mad about that :$ Can anyone help me with this pleasee? moreResolved Question: my boyfriend cheated, then lied & hid it from mee?
Alright well first off, I come from a very old-fashion and Asian Cultural family. My mother immigrated to Toronto in her young adult years, and I was born here in Toronto (White Washed) There are some things my mom tolerate for me (Going out late with friends, On the PC a lot and having Somewhat Bad Grades, Haha) But I've decided to take the next step (Even though this step is extremely somewhat early for me and situational) I've planned this out the entire year in my last year of high school, I worked out the plans, filled in the holes I might have missed and see the pros and cons into doing this (If you are wondering about my age I am 18, so I have the rights to just leave but I can't. I care about my mom's feelings a lot and I want to try and make her feel comfortable and tell her I will be alright once I leave). I've met my boyfriend 3 years ago and we attended the same school; we've started dating last December (He has felt strongly for me for the first time we met and I decided to give him a chance and everything is turning out great with me and him successfully) But unfortunately my boyfriend had to move back to the states and his parents are giving him their old house and they are moving to a new state in their new house, he wanted me to move in with him (He is financially stable, his parents pays for the rent, and he already has a degree and can easily get a job so I am very comfortable with that) He said he'd wait for me if I can't go yet, but I wanted to go and be with him, I know I have not established myself yet (Don't got a professional job never had a job before sadly...) And my boyfriend had already sent me money to buy my passport and what not. And a couple of days ago I decided to talk to my mother about going and leaving, and she completely flat out said no to me, I knew this was coming and I called up my aunt (She is some-what western cultural but is still old-fashion) And ask her if there's anyway for her to try and compromise with my mother in any way, she agreed to it (Although I know my aunt would tell my uncle about it and he's pretty much like the big authority or leader in the family) And he called my mom about it and she wanted my Aunt and Uncle to come here so they can maybe talk it out with me our convince me not to do this. This situation is very bad since my mom has never met my boyfriend before and he had to leave right away so she cannot easily drop this, I understand how she feels and where she's coming from, not wanting to let go of her only daughter to someone who she has never met before. And so after my aunt and uncle came, they throw words into my mouth, making such horrible assumptions and remarks on my boyfriend who they never met before, and calling me a failure and useless, and me bothering my uncle and causing trouble for my mom and the family. So basically he insulted my boyfriend and calming I am bothering him (Even though my mom was the one who called him up and told him to come, I didn't want any relatives or anyone else in the family to get involved, this is between me and my mom. I know my family really cares for me but insulting my boyfriend is INSULTING me as well) I couldn't say anything back to them since I still have to respect them as my elders and just agreeing to whatever they are saying. After our conversation they asked me why can't my boyfriend wait for me until I graduate and done with everything (They want me to finish college where I am because incase anything happens to me or nothing goes well with me with my boyfriend, I would have my profession job as my back up and bring myself back up.) Me and my boyfriend had already discussed this, if nothing goes well with us, he won't be a jerk and just kick me out, he'd help me get a job and graduate from my college and bring myself back up even though we don't really love eachother anymore if that is the CASE, hope it won't) So after that we have worked out a compromise, and they left (Compromise, he has to come here and see the family for 2-3 days max and they'd let me go, but not what my mom really agreed too, she won't let me go if she does not like my boyfriend; pretty dumb cause he'd be spending over 600-700 just to come see my family and have their approval to let me live with him. I mean this is A LOT, he's a student and even if he can get a job, it's not like it's a huge professional one yet, he has other expenses he has to save up for besides his tuition and other miscellaneous, like saving up for ME when I get there and living with him. ) And then they'd let me leave with him, and mom would pay for my ride. After that later night I explained to her that I am not leaving because I don't care, and I do care about her, I just want to be more independent and have more experience living out there through a easy way and now is my chance, maybe I will be able to change moreResolved Question: How many Canadians think "Its for your their good" - death to the thinker?
How many 'average joe' Chanucks out there are buying into the story that the police presence in the city was a goood thing for us. Be honest out there, how many people thought those anarchists looked like actors, and the police were just letting the show go along according to plan. It's really okay, and I'm laughing because all the writing is on the wall that the iron curtain is coming down, and you've got some brainwashed people in their comfort zone saying, don't worry the police are here to protect us from the terrorists. The manager of the Royal Bank told me today, "oh just stay away from toronto." I was like WTF? just run away from all the problems? haha, just run under your blanket and close your eyes its a bad dream. A game of chess is being played, and we see it as just checkers. Its all good though. We deserve it. We deserve to be slaves We deserve to be beat down by police with no warrants We deserve or water poisoned We deserve a criminal government ...because we're animals feeding into the animal behaviours. Lucifarianism is the next logical step to rule the animal world. moreResolved Question: Am I overreacting to this?
Okay, so Wednesday is my highschool graduation. Four years of hard work has paid off and I'm graduating with honours as one of the top students in my grade. I have two older brothers who already graduated and then my parents. My one brother just moved to Dallas for work (I live in Canada so its far!) so I understand why he can't make it. My other brother is going to LasVegas, just for fun... with some friends and my sister in law. Today, the doctors office called my house and reminded my dad of his appointment on Wednesday. My mom asked if there was anyway to change it, and they said, he just confirmed this today. He came home from work and said, yeah there was a cancellation, I took it. I will only miss half your graduation. Are you serious?! So it's going to be me and my mom. On my big day. My one time to shine and show off my hard work and effort. I have no other family who lives in this country to come see... they all live in Germany and Poland. So... no one is coming. I have sat through 6 long boring graduations from my brothers-- 2 highschool, 2 university, 2 grad school. So have my parents.... and now as the youngest, they can just not care? Also, get this... my parents have friends from Europe visiting in Canada that they offered to drive downtown Toronto tomorrow (1 hour from home) in between graduation events since its a whole day thing. I don't want to sound bratty or anything, but this is ONE DAY that I WANT. It seems really unfair to me. I was really looking forward to this, and now no one except my mom will be there and ARGHHH I'm just so frustrated and mad and upset and I don't know if I'm overreacting but holy crap this pisses me off so much.Point being, they are my parents. They should care enough to go. moreResolved Question: Would you forgive me if I did this to you?
so this is what happened, my boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. He lives in Toronto and I live in Milwaukee. He sent me money to buy a passport a long time ago so I could eventually come see him. I kept the money for a long time, but never bought the passport. I ended up spending the money on Bus passes so I could get to and from college, and acted as if I bought the passport to him. The other day he was talking about me coming to see him and to use my passport. That is when I admitted to him, I didn't really get the passport. Of course he was p!ssed. So I promised him that I would buy the passport in 2 weeks once i got paid, and i will come to see him as soon as it came in. He said that 2 weeks is too long, and he will only stay with me if i find a way to pay for the passport tomorrow. I have no way of paying for the passport tomorrow, and he said if I really cared about him, then I'd find a way to pay for it tomorrow no matter what. i told him that there is no way in hell i'd be able to get the money tomorrow so he broke up with me. do you think there's any way that we'll get back together, or did i royally phuck up? Keep in mind that we have been together for 3 and a half years.yes, he has came to see me twice. moreVoting Question: where should I report a neighbor's dog attack in toronto?
I was waiting by elevator at my apartment which suddenly heard dog's barking I turn around and saw a dog running towards me barking, and snarling at me. I thoght the dog is gonna bite me as owner was not around and the dog was unleashed. scared to death and I hold my bag in front of me to protect myself! The dog keeps barking and bite my bag and pulling. a woman came out of his apartment and said oh, get back in here! and went inside! after 2 hours I'm still not feeling well. she even didn't care how I feel. my blood pressure dropped and I had to lie down in hallway! I don't know where should I report this as she can't have unleashed dog attacking to people and not care! I searched online not sure if I have to report to animal control or... if you know please let me know! moreResolved Question: Do you think it comes down to Cleveland and Chicago for Lebron services?
I think these teams have close to a 50% chance of landing him. Cleveland-I think if Cleveland were able to trade Jamison, Hickson, Gibson, and Williams in a sign and trade with Toronto for Bosh and a point guard such as Jose Calderon that would probably put them ahead of Boston and Orlando. Chicago-Chicago is pretty strong as well. They have Rose, the ability to sign Bosh and to sign Lebron. I also expect them to trade Deng for a great 3-point shooter or two good 3-point shooters to compliment this Chicago Big 3. They also can use the Mid-level exception and 1.9 million dollar expection to add 2 strong players to the bench. I dont believe the Knicks, Nets, or Heat will get him. The Knicks have too much loopholes that Lebron and Bosh would not be able to overcome to win the East they don't have a good point guard, no great defensive Center, bad bench. Nets have no identity they don't even know who their point guard will be next year and they are trying to build around Favors and Lopez. Heat has 43 mil in cap but I expect them to sign Boozer, Tyson Chandler, and to add another good player around Wade maybe even a Joe Johnson. They don't need Lebron he will cost them alot and they still need to add 11 men with that cap and the MLE and 1.9 mil exception rule. moreResolved Question: alternator replacement - please read (even though its long)?
I just need an opinion from the mechanics and ex mechanics and generally anyone who has experience in this type of thing. My car died a couple times today and so i had it towed to this garage near my house. When i got there i explained what was up and they ran their tests and told me what i already knew - my alternator had to be replaced. So i hung around the shop for awhile (cause the owner asked if i wanted an oil change and i did need one) and finally after an hour the owner really didnt say much to me which is fine- he was busy making phone calls for parts to other cars there - but he never said anything about mine, how much longer it would take, cost, what the plan was, ect. I finally asked if they had an alternator in shop and they didnt so i told him that since he had to order the alternator i was going to leave and come back later. I left my cell number. So i figured he would call when he tracked down the alternator and give me an estimate (like they do when you leave your car for them to check your brakes or whatever) but no call came. I work nights so thats the main reason i left. I got about four hours of sleep... but they never did call. So i gave them a call (in total this was about 8 hours after initially getting there, just as a point of reference) and they say "Yeah, it's ready". I go pick it up. It cost 300 for the alternator, 200 for labour, and came out to 550appr. with tax. I saw the owner outside when leaving and chatted him up for a quick second then mentioned how i had figured he would call first before replacing it and that 500 bucks for an alternator was killer. And he was " Oh well come back inside" and he grabbed 30 bucks from the register and gave it to me. I was sooo confused at this point. Was he giving me cash back cause he over charged me? (you will just have to trust me on the fact that he wasnt doing it out of the goodness of his heart.. i can explain why but it would take two more paragraphs - just trust me on this for now. I didnt care about the 30 bucks. Usually that would be what i tip the shop manager and mechanics for a job like this. I dont want to give the wrong impression here as if the $550 is the problem. I would pay more than that but im just tired of seemingly getting ripped off by this place. Not too long ago i paid over 400 just for the front two brakes at this place (night shift, different shop manager) I live in Toronto Ontario Canada. My car is a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe. 85,000 km. Was this a good price? People in the area and a buddy from work all say it depends on alot of things like car and the place you go too and its hard to specifically say how much something like this would cost BUT they all agree it seems like ALOT. Do you all agree or disagree? Im really interested. The only reason i go to this place is my dad went there 20 years before he passed and i continued going.. but i dont have the same relationship with this guy my dad did and there are other places nearby like midas and soforth. I dont know hardly anything about cars btw. Im not stingy at all in spending money for car stuff but i would hate for these guys to think im a fool and can just take advantage. Any advice and opinions are more than welcomed. moreResolved Question: Canadians bashing/spewing on Bush/Worshiping Obama - Surprise?
I've recently travelled to Toronto and Montreal, in Canada, to visit some relatives. I live in Birmingham, Michigan, just outside of Detroit. I'm 100% Republican, and although i didn't vote in the last elections, i'm a very big supporter of John McCain, and i used to and sitll am an extreme supporter of George W. Bush II. But when i went to Canada, quite honestly, pretty much all i heard from Canadians (whether it's teenagers or young adults like myself or older ones), was them criticizing GWB, and preaching the Obama regime like none other. Of course i did try to explain to them how Obama doesn't make a good president, but they would always come up with the same exact answer: 9/11, Wars, and a bunch of other shît like that. Oh, and also they kept bashing OUR health care system, adding to their speculations that Obama is a great president: (he's trying to help out the poor in need of immediate help by changing the health care system to the one like they have in Canada). And i keep on telling myself - for now 2 years, we are forced to sit down, take a shaft into our asses and not say anything, because you say out publicly that Obama isn't as good as people say he is - you'Re either called racist, moron, etc. What do you folks think about Canadians worshiping Obama this way and also not knowing what the heck is actually going on? moreResolved Question: Could the bandanas I wear as hair accessories be recognized as gang association?.?
Before you read, please have an open mind, as I am asking the public for some insight on something I really don't know. I really love the rockabilly hair style that some girls are wearing these days with scarves in their hair. I often see them wearing pink, however I have every colour scarf, and want to wear colours such as blue and black. Now, for the record I know certain scarf colours are used by gangs to represent their loyalty, however, I am not affiliated in any gang whatsoever, I'm a red headed Caucasian girl who wants to be a make up artist/ graphic artist who wants to play up my hair! If I choose to wear a different coloured bandana like blue, will rival gangs * gasp* think that I am apart of the Crips? I come from a small town in Canada and worry about going to the city of Toronto, so please let me know if it's true, or I'm being too paranoid. Here are pictures of what I want to do, but I want to pull off a bright blue colour http://www.flickr.com/photos/51477032@N08/4726938836/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/51477032@N08/4726944062/ p.s Please no rude or demeaning comments, there is no such thing as a stupid question! moreResolved Question: Should Major League Baseball Face Realignment?
Look at Major League Baseball. You have two divisions in which four teams probably could end up in the Playoffs, two really weak divisions where no teams should be in the playoffs, a division with four teams and another with six! It's very obvious that Major League Baseball's Alignment is messed up right now, as needs to be fixed. I've come up with two systems that could work, and give each team an equal opportunity to make the postseason. First System: Expansion; add 2 teams to the American League If we 16 teams in both leagues, we can 4 divisions with 4 teams. Each Division Winner makes the Playoffs, no Wildcards. Divisions would be like the NFL. North: (NL) Chicago Milwaukee Cincinnati St. Louis (AL) Minnesota Cleveland Chicago Detroit South: (NL) Florida Atlanta Houston Arizona (AL) Tampa Bay Kansas City Texas Oklahoma City (Expansion) East: (NL) New York Philadelphia Washington Pittsburgh (AL) New York Boston Toronto Baltimore West: (NL) Los Angeles Colorado San Diego San Fransisco (AL) Los Angeles Portland (Expansion) Seattle Oakland Or... Second System: No Divisions; top 4 teams go to playoffs. No Divisions, just National League and American League, each team plays the equal amount of times (or close to it) and the Top 4 Teams (based on record) go to playoffs. I like my first system better, but what do you think? Should we see Realignment, Expansion, or nothing at all? moreResolved Question: What is the rear view like in the Air Canada Center?
I am searching for tickets for a concert at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario. Tickets that keep coming up on ticket master are in section 116, which is the rear view. I am wondering if anyone has had these seats before and if yes, then were they good/alright seats, or would you never want to sit there again? Also, the concert i want to see is Justin Bieber and i don't know what layout is being used for the seating arrangements, so if anyone knows that information, it would be helpful as well. moreTop Come As You Are Toronto Links
