I wonder how many times we'll be force-fed the Evil Empire versus the Not Quite As Evil Empire this year? Yes, I understand they have large fan bases, and I don't begrudge them a few more games on national TV than certain other clubs, but isn't it ridiculous to see them almost every time they play each other? Both teams have local TV deals, so fans in New York and New England would still see them, but those of us in the Midwest and the West don't care to watch them game after game after game after game. please be honest, this poem was written when i was actually doing this and i was about 13 at the time. its called ' when the whole world is sleeping' When the whole world is sleeping, i crawl to the end of my bed, where i sit on my window sill, gazing through the glass panel. Roaming the Rocks Our car eases into the sandy parking spot on the edge of the beach. As soon as my hand releases the door handle and I step outside, I digest not only the refreshing gusts of wind, but also the familiar scenery and unvarnished memories. I follow my parents hesitantly through the sand, trying to preserve the nonexistent tidiness of my beloved Converse. We make our way through the break wall where my relaxation will begin. The break wall is an escape from the sounds of “The Price is Right”, Fox News, and various Lifetime movies ringing throughout my grandparent’ house. It is too late to stroll the quaint Main Street, but too bright to explore constellations from the sand dunes. It is time to tantalize the waves of Lake Michigan. I take off my socks and shoes and hand them to my mother. She and my father play it safe on the strip. I head toward the excitement. I head toward my favorite part of Ludington. I head toward the rocks. The rocks were not a part of the beach when my parents were growing up here. They were put into the lake helter skelter to shore up the break wall because of erosion. Jumping from rock to rock is my tradition, despite my age. I place one foot onto the cool, jagged surface, and soon follow that with the other foot. While standing on the mammoth of concrete, I observe the intent fishermen and the bright blue sky about to be dyed by the sunset. I feel the exhale of the fresh breeze scatter each strand of my hair. I hear the waves lapping against the anchors that I will soon be scattering across. I curl my toes around the edge of the boulder and crouch to approach the next slab. Grasping the adjacent rock, I am able to leap and land one step closer to the finish line. I continue this pattern until I get into an accustomed rhythm. This lasts until the jubilance and adrenaline from the ability to be brave and jeopardize my safety turns into a familiar feeling of defeat. Not even my intense focus and determination can carry my over the severely askew stones. My father instinctively abandons his duties of supervising my mother’s movements and lets me borrow his hand for assistance and relief. Once the jumbled, hazardous rocks return to a placement within my skill level, my father reappears at my mother’s side. I remain in a trance of maneuvers. Right hand, then left hand, followed by left foot with right hand after that. This sequence continues until I run out of rocks. I have to join the rest of the public and promenade along the distinguished pathway of the Ludington Harbor Lighthouse. Once we reach the structure, my father begins to reminisce about the stories that his father reminisces about. He discusses the absence of my grandfather’s camera when he was able to venture inside and climb to the top of the lighthouse for the first time in 77 years, and how in his youth, he jumped off into the water from a platform on the lighthouse. We stand and absorb the soothing air and the peaceful landscapes for a few moments before heading back. I return to my routine on the rocks, listening to the waves and avoiding the fishermen. We climb back into our car and I brush the coarse sand off of my feet. We then leave the tranquil, satisfying beach behind us and drive back to the kingdom of wood paneling, playing cards, and Court TV. Should I cut out the part about my grandpa?There is no prompt for this essay. I used this essay for a memoir project in english last year and my parents really want me to reuse it. It would be nice to not have to write another essay, but it just doesn't really read like a college app essay to me yet. I want to make sure that it says a lot about me. I want the reader to walk away from reading this feeling like they know more about me. more

The time slots have been so stupid for the first round! Tonights game with the Phillies and Rockies started at 10 pm East Coast time!!! By the time the game ended (and it was a good one and nail biter) it was like 2 am in Philadelphia!!! I'm not a Philly fan and I even think that this was unfair to the Phillies fans who had to stay up to watch the dang game on a Sunday night. On the West Coast the Angel game vs. the Red Sox started at 9 am!!! I really think that FOX or ESPN should have taken over at least the American League or National League side of the playoff instead of letting TBS get them all. Now I will say Philadelphia fans suck too I remember when Michael Irvin had his career ended in a game at Philadelphia and the fans cheered. Another instance some idiot at a White Sox game charges and attacks a 70 year old first base coach. My favorite one was "The brawl at the Palace" When Ron Artest was trying to chill and a frigging idiot threw a beer on him but the best part of that was when the fat guy when on the court and charged Artest and he Artest knocked him on his ass. Here is my story. Today afternoon I was walking with my 6 dogs heading to an old park where I can play with them off leash. I usually do that at noon but today I had an emergency job and I couldn't go so I thought it was a good idea to go sometime later. People go there with their dogs and play every day. As I was playing with my dogs with a ball I had a call for a job and I sat on a bench to talk. My dogs were playing a couple meters away when suddenly my mini-poodle start barking and growling and caught my attention. I was about to stand up and see what's going on cause my other dogs the bullmastiff, the german shepherd and the rottweiler were running against me when an american bulldog attacked my hand! I heard someone say "get him boy! get him" and I saw a man coming towards me. I couldn't say anything as I was in terrible pain with this huge bulldog trying to eat hand. Then Serlok (my bullmastiff) knocked the bulldog down and I emmediately said "no Serlok no! sit down!" cause I thought that moment it was an accident and didn't want my dog to get hurt! The man then command his bulldog again "attack boy now" and the dog tryied to attack me again. My Rottweiler and my 15 years old German shepherd was between me and the bulldog and when the bulldog came close the GS grabbed his nake while my rottie did the same and Serlok was keeping the uknown man away. I called back Serlok and all my dogs and only my rottie was a meter away protecting our newest member a 5 months old fox terrier who was scared enough to stand still away from me. The man took his bleeding dog as I was yelling at him for his action and left. Now I am home with stiches in my hand and a serious injury in my GS's leg. The police said that this guy who I recognised later, organizes dog fights and he is training his dog this way. (OOh yes he did that again). My question is should I press charge against that man? If I do my loyer said that he will claim that my dogs attacked him and even if I win the court they will put down his dog and make him pay a minor amount of money and not go to jail! I found 2 people to testify against him who have been through the same but that will only cost the death of his dog! I am not sure I want that. For any additional details please contact me cause I am still in sock and I am not sure I made everything clear. I have to decide and go to the police until tomorrow afternoon. After that the man will set free and I am not sure If they will find him again.I called the local society for the prevention of cruelty to animals and they will publish his picture on the internet but lows here aren't enough to deal with such people. He will only pay 300$ and the costs for putting his dog to sleep but that's all! I am sure he will do it again! So only the dogs will pay for his "master's" actions! He will only go to jail if his dog kills someone. (That's because of the stupid (to say the least) low system! And of course he will pay the vet for my dog and the surgery for my hand. If I don't press charges they will take his dog to a shelter but he will not pay any fines and not even the vet for my dog and the hospital for me. If I do they will put his dog to sleep and he will pay the fines. In any way he will not be able to buy or adopt a dog again but of course here is not difficult to find a dog outlow.They can put him in jail for dogfights but only if he is caught on act. more
