Is that the origin of their team name the 'Raptors'? When the movie Jurassic Park came out in 1993, it showcases the Velociraptor dinosaurs, which a lot of people probably didn't know about. So, when the owners of this Toronto basketball franchise were deciding on a name before their team's debut in 1995, do you think they chose this name 'Raptors' because of the movie Jurassic Park? I'm thinking it's kinda the same situation as with the NHL team the Anaheim Mighty Ducks who chose that name due to the movie 'The Mighty Ducks'. more

I then thought to myself how kids today are constantly at the brunt of marketing ploys that pedal terrible movies. The 90's had so many better movies. Resolved Question: Did Disney mess up with the release of the Mighty Ducks trilogy?

This is a near perfect movie trilogy except it has one major flaw. In the third installment only one player makes the varsity team (Cake Eater) despite the fact that these kids just represented the USA in a global competition (Jr. Goodwill Games). Wouldn't it have made more sense to use the plot line from the third movie in D2: The Mighty Ducks? The third movie could have been the global tournament. I feel like Disney really dropped the ball here and its a real shame. What are your thoughts? more

Am I the only one who thinks this might possibly be the worst name for any team in the history of professional sports. I say professional because one of my old teams was named the "Bus Drivers", which clearly beats out the Ducks. The Mighty Ducks was fine. It had the whole Disney thing with the movies and all. But as soon as the whole agreement fell through (I don't know the details), it became the Ducks... Just the Ducks. I think most people don't really realize how lame this really is because we're so used to it. So what I'm trying to get at is, when the Disney/Mighty Ducks thing fell through, perhaps they should have changed their name completely? Do you agree or disagree and why. Resolved Question: A Few Thoughts after watching D3 (Read On)?

Today I was at a friends house and we were flipping between D3 and Austin Powers 3. I noticed alot of unbelievibly unrealistic/corny stuff I didn't remember when I last watched them. My questions 1. What is the most unrealistic thing in D3 2. What is the most unrealistic thing in any movie 3. Are the Mighty Ducks movies the best "bad" sports movies of all time. By this I mean it's corny and somewhat dumb but you still watch it alot4. The guy who makes Varsity but goes back to the Ducks got me thinking. Should goalies play JV if they make JV inc ertain circumstances. For instance my friend a sophmore is debating whether he should be 3rd string for varsity or get more playing time at JV and move up to Varisty as a junior when the 2 seniors ahead of him leave. I say take the game exp now since the spot will be there but a friend disagrees 5. What's better: D3 or Austin Powers 3 Also a couple not so much "unbelieviable things" that always bugged me 1. The former NHL PLayer is coaching JV and not varsity 2. After the championship game the school changes its name to Ducks 3. That they even have a JV-Varsity game What good can happen. The varsity wins, well they're supposed to win. They lose, then they're humiliated. Resolved Question: mighty ducks 4 storyline i thought of, intriguing....?

now with are cast of charlie, adam, lester, fulton, dean, julie, greg, kenny, dwayne, connie, guy, louis, and russ (those who appeared in d3) they are around 13 years older making them around 27 because charlie says he is 14 in the d3 movie. we can set the year at 2010, for the next winter olympic games. Now at the games there is a boycott due to the wars, so most of the american olympians quit due to insecurity, so now america is devastated and is struggling to find competitors, and with all the ducks on to there life careers, there the only hope to comeback together for one last time and win it for there country. Since only adam banks, guy germaine, and julie "the cat" gaffney are the only ducks who have been playing proffesionally, (there could be a nice side plot with julie being the first female AHL player ever, not nhl) they have to call upon emilio (could find maybe a better coaching storyline although emilio is the easy pick) to bring the ducks together and they have only 2 months(or so) to train for the most heated olympics ever. They gain a few more players for the players that didnt origanilly quit (they will be very minor) to fill a small roster.After a very tough training montage, They go to the games (in a eastern country) and are heckled and boo'd and one of the only american olympians there. during there games they start off shaky but pull through with there heart and trickery led by awsome play of adam banks, charlie conway, guy germaine and great goaltending by julie gaffney. throughout all there games they are getting flustard and fed up with the hostile crowds, and many times mention how they were always loved by crowds when they were ducks. they play there rivals in pool play and loose in a close game actually to there rivals (tbd) (unlike the first three films its a close game), they loose some more games and barely make it in to the elimination rounds. when they meet there rival (who could be sweden or czech republic, whoever there in a war with so it makes it a huge game) in the gold medal game they watch the news and hear of how the game is so big because of the war and there country really is pushing for them to win. the practice the night before is very nastalgic and at the end charlie gets hurt and they are in trouble, then in there morning skate around bombay suits up and says he wants to play to show the world how good he was and wants just one more shot and then charlie coaches because that was his life-long dream (witch a storyline of him doing something he hates vs. his desire to coach can be added). they beat there rival and win the gold off of a bombay goal(because they always have to win by 1). they get the gold and there it shows what the ducks ended up doing with there lives.some storylines (some previously mentioned) charlie doing a job he hates and never got a coaching break but after the he wins the gold he gets credit and offered a position for a nhl team:: julie gaffney wanting to play in the nhl, but no one wants her and she only plays in the ahl, and after showing she can play with the boys in the olympics she is signed by an nhl team and is the first female in the nhl:: guy germaine and conni moreau getting married:: dean portman and fulton reed starting a rock band together or something of that nature:: Bombay being one of the best attorneys in the us, but always has the itch to come back numerous times looking at old newspaper clippings and such: goldberg running his parents resturant:: adam banks just being the man in the nhl:: lest averman works in goldbergs resturant and never really did anything in life:: louis went to the streets and charlie picks him up to play for one last moment in the spotlight::dwayne robertson opens up a hot sauce company and still plays hockey in some older local leagues and is one of the only ducks that when asked to play for usa is excited:: going off the robertson idea, when the cast is asked by charlie to comeback besides; julie, guy and adam because they still play, they are hesitant because of there careers and only come back because the idea of the ducks and there country:: before leaving they go to hans grave: kenny wu pursued his ice skating career, rather than hockey but is one of the quicker ones to pick the stick back up and retain former skill:: the bash brothers are still goons:: russ tyler was went on back to south central and still played street hockey from time to time:: a gunner stahl appearance and maybe even another match against iceland? but iceland is not going to be the rivals, rather just another team:: a possible charlie julie love interest?:: at the end of the movie a very emotional pictures of the past 4 movies during the creditsduring the celebration of the big win it goes to each one individual like at the end of coach carter and many movies and says what they did with there lives: charlie-professional hockey coach adam banks- goes back to nhl for newfound grassroot love of hockey and plays on charlies team of course julie- goes to the nhl and is signed by charlies team, eventually marrying charlie guy germaine- decides hes done with hockey and marries connie connie- marries guy germaine lester- becomes a famous comedian goldberg- opens up a chain of goldberg resturants dwyane- scouts see talent goes to nhl russ- makes a rec center for kids in south central la louis- quits the gang life and opens up car garage dean portman- average life back in chicago with wife and kids fulton reed- goes back to district 5 to coach the ducks kenny wu- remains a figure skater they keep in touch through the years and will never forget being a duck, the ending picture is a flock of ducks flying in a v more

Voting Question: who do you think would have been a better captain in the mighty ducks films?

Charlie Conway or Jesse Hall Jesse Hall had that team leader spirit in the first movie while Charlie was a just a kid who screwed up. In d2 Charlie had more character dept but at the same time played the sidekick role and didnt play that much . Jesse scored way more points than charlie and was talented than him too. Jesse was also the leader of the Flying V and he made it look strong when Charlie did it d3 he made it look weak. Due to the absence of Jesse hall in the D3 , Charlie was the captain. Charlie's character was combined with his free spirted along with jesse hall's anger problem to make his character more stronger. The bad side was he still wasnt as good as Jesse Hall.
