Poems Of Beauty Questions asked

Open Question: What is your interpretation of my poem?

There is a meaning behind this poem. I just want to know, If I made it clear enough. Also feel free to add in your thoughts on this poem. Lovers paradox I'm in love with beauty, go ahead, judge me. The sweet technicolor of nature, lavender, green, and blue. Aquatic blue oceans flowing fathomless, under the gleaming aurora. Let me run wildly naked, to live those fantasies as the animals do. Let me bite, growl, yell, scream, and run... Show me lenience, let me roam the land that was once rightfully ours. Guide me like a tourist, speak to me in love languages. I'm a linguist, watch the letter 'R' roll off my tongue with, romance, romancé, and romanticismo. Lets own, the day, the night, and whatever is left. We own each other, therefore, we own the world. I'm in love with beauty, and creationism, because you were perfectly created for me, as I have been created for you. more

Open Question: Please read my poem "weight"?

Others try to find peace in a plant I say "nah, man I can't" We're in two different pursuits I duck when life shoots Load another round I put on my sound My music I lose it Lose composure while I can See, nobody gives me a hand So I rest before I fall I can't always stand tall The weight thats not just mine On my shoulders all the time But I can't stop it They can't see me drop it So I push forward With wise words Hoping to be heard first I have to lend a ear But then I can't hear .....blessing in disguise Blessings in the skies Telling me up from down So in the beauty I drown As my back is on the ground more

Open Question: How do you think my crush will react to a poem?

(I'm 16) There is this girl at school that I really like, and I decided to write her a poem and perhaps leave it by her locker. We've spoken before but we're not close friends which I also heard is a good thing because it can be less awkward. Here is the poem itself: Hello I couldn’t mind but writing about someone so neat Far too smart for anyone, far too bright and keen, And your skin is the color of the sweetest cream, You’re a walking princess, escaping from a dream. Your face to me is music and your laugh to me is art, The melody is beautiful and comes from the heart. The more that I will write, the farther away I get From the simplicity of you – yet so wonderfully complex, Your hair is like a waterfall, silky and outstanding, Your words are like a garden, soft and understanding. Your movements are like the love that I will always lack, Sadly, I can only see you from your back. Ode to you – I plead, a poem and a song, Nothing even close to your beauty – so strong, And your sparkling eyes that twinkle with the twilight in the sky, Leave me breathless without words and my tongue all dry. It must be weird to be you – seeing who you are, You in yourself remind me of every shooting star, You are an epitome to the throb that’s in my heart, Swinging like a metronome every time we part Could I please get some feedback from people who were in these kinds of relationships or have had a similar resolved issue? more

Open Question: How does this poem sound?

i wrote a poem like literally about 10 minutes ago cus i was feeling pretty 'deep' and all. But i guess its just easier to share it with a stranger and i want feedback. Its for a project, i have to write like 9 poems so here goes poem #1 (maybe) "Opaque skin" The girl with the black umbrella Lays it gently on her left Collar bone Her dress, Showed a bare shoulder The cut was modest Though it was enough for boys to glance Though it was enough for the father to behave She walks gently Fearlessly And quite lonesome Her face not to be seen The umbrella did not shelter her beautiful Humanity away from the world But it was difficult to see From all that beauty seen From the outside None saw the more Beautiful Inside. Please give suggestions and criticisms thank you more

Open Question: Can you please criticize my poem?

She was wrapped in a pink blanket, The moment she was delivered to a new world Smiling like a very little rose, Spreading weak wings like a baby bird Happiness to be felt, Receiving this new precious pearl Knowing a sea of giving arrived, When a doctor says: "she’s a GIRL !" Her first steps are to be counted,Her first heels height to be remembered She's a creature of absolute romance, Love, giving and forgiveness, All blended At a certain time, thinks she’s an adult,Developing feelings she can’t hide Looking impatiently for a Romeo, A true man to be at her side When she knows time was too early, she's hurt with a broken heart But when the real man arrives, She’s confused to stay or stay apart Know when and how to rub her tear,Endure her moods and feelings Give her honesty and security,Then know passion, the true meaning Delicate like nothing else is her heart, A lady to be embraced and felt A beauty to be appreciated, a woman to be gently held Indescribable love she can supply, Charming joy she can provide The moment she’s in a white dress, In a cloth of silk, an official bride And when a great gift is given, The role turns upside down From daughter to Mother, handling her kindness crown Happiness to be felt,Receiving this new precious pearl Knowing a sea of giving arrived, When a doctor says: "she’s a GIRL !" more

Resolved Question: Bond And Free by Robert Frost meter?

What is the meter in Robert Frost's poem "Bond and Free?" Love has earth to which she clings With hills and circling arms about-- Wall within wall to shut fear out. But Thought has need of no such things, For Thought has a pair of dauntless wings. On snow and sand and turn, I see Where Love has left a printed trace With straining in the world's embrace. And such is Love and glad to be But Thought has shaken his ankles free. Thought cleaves the interstellar gloom And sits in Sirius' disc all night, Till day makes him retrace his flight With smell of burning on every plume, Back past the sun to an earthly room. His gains in heaven are what they are. Yet some say Love by being thrall And simply staying possesses all In several beauty that Thought fares far To find fused in another star. more

so I have to do 2 essays and interlude and I'm just not understanding it. Part I. 45 point essay. Open Question: What kind of poem is this?

It will not hurt me when I am old, A running tide where moonlight burned Will not sting me like silver snakes; The years will make me sad and cold, It is the happy heart that breaks. The heart asks more than life can give, When that is learned, then all is learned; The waves break fold on jewelled fold, But beauty itself is fugitive, It will not hurt me when I am old. What kind of meter is this poem? Is it Iambic, Trochaic, Anapestic, Dactylic? This is for a poetry class, and I really can't determine what type of meter analysis it is following! Also if you have any thoughts or ideas of who the speaker and addressee are I would be very grateful to you. more

Open Question: What does this poem mean ?

Can someone please explain to my what this poem means is from the book " i never saw another butterfly" BIRDSONG He doesn't know the world at all Who stays in his nest and doesn't go out. He doesn't know what birds know best Nor what I want to sing about, That the world is full of loveliness. When dewdrops sparkle in the grass And earth's aflood with morning light, A blackbird sings upon a bush To greet the dawning after night. Then I know how fine it is to live. Hey, try to open up your heart To beauty; go to the woods someday And weave a wreath of memory there. Then if the tears obscure your way You'll know how wonderful it is To be alive. more

Open Question: Analysis of the poem Roses Only by Marianne Moore?

I don't really understand the metaphorical use.. Please help ! You do not seem to realize that beauty is a liability rather than an asset - that in view of the fact that spirit creates form we are justified in supposing that you must have brains. For you, a symbol of the unit, stiff and sharp, conscious of surpassing by dint of native superiority and liking for everything self-dependent, anything an ambitious civilization might produce: for you, unaided, to attempt through sheer reserve, to confuse presumptions resulting from observation, is idle. You cannot make us think you a delightful happen-so. But rose, if you are brilliant, it is not because your petals are the without-which-nothing of pre-eminence. Would you not, minus thorns, be a what-is-this, a mere perculiarity? They are not proof against a worm, the elements, or mildew; but what about the predatory hand? What is brilliance without co-ordination? Guarding the infinitesimal pieces of your mind, compelling audience to the remark that it is better to be forgotten than to be re- membered too violently, your thorns are the best part of you. more

Open Question: I need help figuring out the meaning of this poem can anyone tell me what it is?

The Swan Did you too see it, drifting, all night, on the black river? Did you see it in the morning, rising into the silvery air - An armful of white blossoms, A perfect commotion of silk and linen as it leaned into the bondage of its wings; a snowbank, a bank of lilies, Biting the air with its black beak? Did you hear it, fluting and whistling A shrill dark music - like the rain pelting the trees - like a waterfall Knifing down the black ledges? And did you see it, finally, just under the clouds - A white cross Streaming across the sky, its feet Like black leaves, its wings Like the stretching light of the river? And did you feel it, in your heart, how it pertained to everything? And have you too finally figured out what beauty is for? And have you changed your life? more

This year we been talking to each other a lot. She has been reallyyy flirty with me one twitter lately too. My one friend said not to go for her because she thinks she is being flirtatious. A few days ago she posted a pic up on twitter of a poem she wrote in class about me. Although it was a circle poem where multiple people wrote on it. The first sentence she wrote tho and it started with (my name) is a man of beauty. Then the tweets caption was with all caps and at the end had a <3. She has been tweeting lately she been really happy and the day before she tweeted that pic she said that and the next day she tweeted the pic. I replied back to the pic and after she replied back she tweeted a :). She tweeted yesterday how am I so lucky and her best friend said your welcome and things. Although if she did like me I would think she would text me first or something right? I'm asking this cause I wanna text her and ask her if I could go for her best friend which she twitted yesterday to her and said we just need to find someone new for you! But I don't wanna if she likes me but I don't think she does. What do you guys think? Does she like me or not cause if not i wanna ask her if I can go for her BFF. I asked my friend if she likes me and he said she doesn't or at least he doesn't think so. more

Resolved Question: How's this poem I wrote ...:)?

Empty lies the room once so playful, Barren lies the corner once so joyful , Incomplete lie those once so perfect stories.. All that's left, are just memories.. A place which was no less than heaven someday, Where moments were spent happy and gay, Shattered now it stood, as a long lost road, Lonely , as an old abandoned abode.. When everything seemed to fit together, Gloomy turned the gleeful weather, For fate and destiny came to play.. Disconnected and desolated everything became, sad in dismay .. Life seldom takes the course we wanna walk on.. Sometimes only choice that remains is to move on.. Happy and high may turn to lament and low.. What might be awaiting you next, you never know.. So cherish old memories, feel each emotion.. Chase your dreams, follow your passion, Love the people you met, live each moment you get, Cuz life is too short to wake up with regrets.. :) more

Resolved Question: Metaphors about beauty using nature?

So I have to do an assignment writing a letter to a girl from the speaker's point of view in the poem "She Dwelt Among the Untrodden Ways" by William Wordsworth. In the poem, the speaker has a love where he 'admires from afar'. Anyways, in the letter we have to use 4 metaphors using examples in nature. - Use 2 metaphors with vivid imagery of nature to show how special Lucy is compared to others around her. (i.e. "a violet behind a mossy stone/ half hidden from the eye") - Use 2 metaphors with vivid imagery of nature to show how sad you feel without Lucy. any ideas are greatly appreciated! more

Resolved Question: Is Music is what Feelings sound like OR Is it Poetry composed by others & you?

.. One is created by lyricists & music composers and another by other poets and even by ourselves at times. Often, listening to Music feels like it is speaking our feelings in words at that moment with a background score and slick tune. And of course, Poems are a medium of expression and often, even poetry composed by others resonates too well within us. Does Music Or Poetry sound like Feelings for you? Express yourselves. :) Thank you for bringing forward your feelings. & ~Smile :) more

Resolved Question: I need help deducing literary devices in the poem "The Obligation to Be Happy" by Linda Pastan?

So, I'm writing a poetry explication, and I totally get the poem, but I'm having trouble seeing if I understood all the literary devices. The poem is "The Obligation to Be Happy" by Linda Pastan. I'm not looking for anyone to write my paper, or tell me what it is about, since it is pretty self explanatory. So far, I have the metaphor to the rain and clouds, tone shifts between the stanzas, the metaphor to the knapsack, and the allusion to Midas at the end. Do you see anything else? Am I missing something extremely obvious and important? Your help is greatly appreciated, thank you. Here is the poem: The Obligation to Be Happy By Linda Pastan It is more onerous than the rites of beauty or housework, harder than love. But you expect it of me casually, the way you expect the sun to come up, not in spite of rain or clouds but because of them. And so I smile, as if my own fidelity to sadness were a hidden vice— that downward tug on my mouth, my old suspicion that health and love are brief irrelevancies, no more than laughter in the warm dark strangled at dawn. Happiness. I try to hoist it on my narrow shoulders again— a knapsack heavy with gold coins. I stumble around the house, bump into things. Only Midas himself would understand. more

Resolved Question: What are your opinions on my poem?

I was bored the other day and decided to write a poem with Haiku verses. It's not done yet. Today I saw her. Her Aphrodite beauty made me feel ugly. The way the light kisses her face makes me envious of her good fortune. I look for her face in the mirror and only see mine glaring back. Why does she get to be the one society says is beautiful? Am I damaged goods meant to ship back to sender? Is my body wrong? Today I saw her. Her Aphrodite beauty made me feel ugly. more

Two little buddies, sitting on a fence.. bored as little crows can be ,sat on the fence, surveying da lands below dat be. .Looking below they crumble and strife.not a morsel to be seen, nope! Not one in sight! Come hell or high water a fight bound is brought. Till he hugs and kisses her making things right? She forgets why she's mad, smiles, then sweetly takes flight!
His eyes watch her go, a beauty in sight! He hopes she will come back and spend the night!
She laughs a sweet laugh, he sighs with delight! ,,,tbo...unknown. goodnight more

Resolved Question: Is this a poem in free verse form? Or do we call it prose instead?

Childless mothers' idle hands try to stay busy with household tasks or work-related activities she's got a career, she's moving forward and upwards but in the late hours when sleep fails and familes dream separate dreams together she frets at the fringes of what was and should still be knowing that it's a bad thing she shouldn't go there she gets up, thinks of having a drink glad that she doesn't keep a bottle of vodka around anymore maybe some herbal tea her daughter loved honey (and bees) that's too sweet in the morning, after catching some intermittent nod-offs between Internet other-reality scenes and nightmares without screams she makes coffee glad that it doesn't go well with honey Hey I didn't ask if it was a GOOD free verse poem. Hmmm Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Any ideas to end a feature article on a sharp and punchy note?

I have to do a feature article on Sylvia Plath's life and include a biography, her influences, significant poems and personal strengths and weaknesses ( which i am struggling with, so any help on this too would be good). The headline of my article is “Even amidst fieirce flames the golden lotus can be planted". This is a quote written on her gravestone that means even through her depression she still managed to create beauty( her writing) and leave an imprint. I want to end the article on a sharp and punchy note and I want to do this by perhaps using a pun with my headline above or something of that sort. Any ideas of what it could be? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: What do you think of this amateurs poem?

Love is.... Love is not a word, Nor can it be expressed by such… Love cannot be comprehended, Nor explain… Love has no beginning, Nor end.... Love is where your mind goes When it wonders, That valley of endless peace, Where the soul rest And the heart heals. Love is the cure the soul seeks And the heart graves.... Love is those eyes that contain All the hidden beauty of the world. Love is that smile That enlightens your soul, Which summer breeze, Filling every empty corner With its warmth. Eradicating all the pain, The hurt, the hate. Nobody can teach to love Nobody but yourself Because when you try to explain love And nothing but a specific name Comes to your mind Then and only then, Would you truly know what love is. author: Me ;)Is it that obvious that Im in love??? I tried to hide it .. aparently didnt work xD more

Open Question: Would you read "The Beholder" tell me how you feel and make this 1st draft better?

This is a simple poem of fiction if you would, but I wrote it because I see, read, and hear many, especially young women, not think they are good looking, or good looking enough, or even good enough. This is a fallacy, and I so much wanted to get this point across. Perhaps I will bring this back later on a re-write/edit, but I would like your thoughts, C.C. and/or comments. This is a first draft, so I know it needs work, but I brought it out now because I felt the subject preempts the poem, at least right now. Thanks, Thomas _________________________________________________________________________________ The Beholder I had seen her for weeks, doubt she ever knew This school was known to have the most beautiful girls Of course, that’s not why I came here....fringe benefits I was an athlete, but studies matter as my life unfurls This girl I noticed every day, the “cool” guys left her alone I looked at her, through her; not as good looking as the others She was sort of a ragamuffin, with big round piercing eyes, full lips A diamond in the rough, what the heck are you missing brothers? I found out here identity- Bridget; my favorite female name had me melting Lord give me the boldness to meet her; let her be as sweet as her face I never had a girlfriend, even in high school I missed all the proms Athletics kept me from girls far too long; take charge and embrace I wished she was not in a Sorority, and found out that she was not Hope she won’t mind I am a Sigma Chi, but just did it for the sports Heck, I should not knock Sororities, they are not all rich snooty girls The mirror; I came from a wealthy background; time to hit the courts I guess I learned from my parents and God where true beauty lies What I think is a special girl, well, I can’t wait to meet her; got to be bolder Sure, looks are important to me, but who looks stunning to me is different The conclusion I came to is a girl’s beauty is in the eye of the beholder I have not met Bridget yet, but I will soon, and I can’t wait to do so. __________________________________________________________________Autumlovr: Your answer is so good, and your critique: spot on> I copied your edit, and hope you will let me employ them in a re-write. Many thanks for answering.Lapiz: Thanks for answering. Very sweet....got teary at your comment. All answers so far very kind and well articulated. Believe it or not, I was going to leave to poem as is, and have no conclusion, but now that I see that is what you wish, what I will do is use some of the recommendations autumlovr and others have and re-write this baby and finish the story, and put it out to YAP all at once. Once again, I thank my readers. Thomas______________________________________________________________________________Andy P: Thank you for your answer. You and a few others I respect the most with your honest C.C. You have the ability to challenge me and make me press on as a poet, even a person. No matter how fictionalized we write, and even novelists will admit this, we write in the framework of who we are. Your analysis was intriguing and you pretty much nailed it. The poem will be brought back in better form later with a part two piggyback to conclude the effort here. Truly, thank you. Thomas________________________________________________________________________________Gene Bourne: Thank you for your answer, and the time you put into it. To believe what you say for me is difficult, but you give me hope of some possibilities....perhaps I should start writing now, and see where it takes me, but right now it just is not possible. Doesn't mean I can't lay the groundwork, and you have inspired me sir. I am in your debt and am grateful for your honest c.c.Thomas______________________________________________________________________________Lorry: I am so glad you are back, and thanks for answering. Your answer could almost be added to this poem. Spectacular description of reality when we were younger. My sophomore year, (I went to a rough, rigid all boys Catholic school, but we had a sister school) I was known as the best looking guy in our high school. Problem was....I was not "cool." I tried to date the best looking gal, and first time ever, she slips me the tongue, and I had no clue what she was doing, said "What are you doing?" She dropped me for the high school quarterback. Oh well. I was a jock and great with the guys, but way to shy for a girl back then. :)______________________________________________________________________________My sweet friends: I cannot decide on Best Answer here and may have to let the voters decide. I have a day left. All the answers were worthy of Best Answer in their own way. Gene----I have given you BA for so many outstanding answers I do not know what I am going to do with you. autumlovr, you got here first and are spot on--I copied your edit and will employ your changes on a re-post later. Lapiz, I could cry at how heartfelt your answer made me feel, and Lorry, after Lapiz's your sent me packing to Oz. Blown away folks by what you put into your answers. Caitlin---well done. Andy P....you are second to none is good, honest answers. I know I am missing others, sorry, and will be back to decide. I have never left one to the voters on purpose, so I better not start here. Resolved Question: What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

What are your favourite things to do? What are your passions? I'm a very varied person and above all, i hate wasting time so i try and keep myself busy. I usually enjoy reading, as i love immersing myself in a story and learning new words (my mum having recently gotten me in to classics) or going out on my bike, mainly for the freedom it gives me but i also love the outdoors and nature- i'm one of those people who if they don't get the feeling of fresh air or the smell of flowers every day starts to go coo-coo-bananas. I do watch Tv, mainly Hollyoaks or comedies and although i do love a decent film (mainly action, historical or comedy), i don't do movie marathons- infact i can't do anything for hours on end. One of the most important things to me is my health and well-being so i've gotten into cooking recently- mainly healthy, wholesome dishes. I also read magazines to do with health and fitness and beauty. I love to apply makeup and do myself up, even when there's no readon to do so. I've also gotten into running and yoga. I also do a lot of drawing- i love art and trips to the gallery are frequent. I also listen to a lot of music- mainly indie rock, rock, metal and classical or watch videos on youtube of people like Shane Dawson and BubzBeauty. Writing is also a passion of mine and i hope to gave a career in that someday- daydreaming comes naturally to me and i have a rich imagination. I love learning and enriching the mind. Based on this- guess my sign. Now list your sign along with any relevant placements. more
