Some Coloring Pages Of Scooby Doo Questions asked

Resolved Question: My son turns 4 in October and can't read how can I get him interested in learning?

This is actually very hard right now because I am an unemployed single mother with no help and have no friends with children. I have been printing out all sorts of free "preschool learning" pages and activities to do with my son. He can count to 10, but doesn't recognize all the numbers in written form. He doesn't know his ABC's, verbally or visually. He is completely uninterested in learning with me. I try to make it fun and we get excited and high five when he gets something right and upbeat about trying again if he's wrong, but after about 30 seconds of trying to teach him things he starts looking around for something else to do. If I tell him to sit with me and help me he gets mad and cries. However, when Moose and Zee are on nick jr he always gets the questions right and I hear him repeating what they say, if I look at him he gets mad at me and tells me to stop. I guess he is shy about it. This is really frustrating me. I don't get mad at him, but I really want him to be able to at least SAY and READ his ABC's as he goes into pre-k next fall. He can identify some words for example the DVDs that say "Scooby Doo" but have no colors or pictures on it, so I know he is very capable of catching on quickly. I feel like my window is closing and I only have a year to prepare him. I don't want him to fall behind. Last year before I lost my job he went to daycare for about 5 months and learned quite a bit. We are also still working on speech because he don't enunciate all of his words properly. He is highly stubborn, I don't know what to do and none of these online guides I have found are helping me. Is there anyone out there with a similar situation that can help me please? We do make learning a game and I even bought him a leapster with those great learning games because he's really into video games and quite good with the ps2 and gamecube, but doesn't learn a whole lot from them. Also, I got the leapfrog pen that reads the books to you, he likes it because it says it name when you turn it on and off. I do watch Nick Jr. with him, and I try to play along or sing along, but he gets mad at me and yells at me to stop it. So now I just watch. My frustration is mostly because everybody I have ever known with a small child, come to think of it just girls 2-3, had them already speaking crystal clear, reading, writing, and coloring inside the lines. I did nanny before and the toddler didn't even speak or want to learn between the ages of 20-36 months. I guess the only plus with those people is that their children were usually in daycare from a very young age. My son only went to daycare from feb to june of this year. more
