Open Question: Who are the nice man loving feminist leaders who are seeking to improve mens lives?

More feminist quotes (some very recently)............ "The institution of sexual intercourse is anti-feminist" -- Ti-Grace Atkinson "Feminism is the theory, lesbianism is the practice." -- Ti-Grace Atkinson "Rape is nothing more or less than a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear" -- Susan Brownmiller; Authoress of Against Our Will p.6 "When a woman reaches orgasm with a man she is only collaborating with the patriarchal system, eroticizing her own oppression." -- Sheila Jeffrys "Politically, I call it rape whenever a woman has sex and feels violated." -- Catherine MacKinnon "All sex, even consensual sex between a married couple, is an act of violence perpetrated against a woman." -- Catherine MacKinnon "You grow up with your father holding you down and covering your mouth so another man can make a horrible searing pain between your legs." -- Catherine MacKinnon (Prominent legal feminist scholar; University of Michigan, & Yale.) "In a patriarchal society, all heterosexual intercourse is rape because women, as a group, are not strong enough to give meaningful consent." -- Catharine MacKinnon, quoted in Professing Feminism: Cautionary Tales from the Strange World of Women's Studies. "The more famous and powerful I get the more power I have to hurt men." -- Sharon Stone; Actress "Ninety-five percent of women's experiences are about being a victim. Or about being an underdog, or having to survive... women didn't go to Vietnam and blow things up. They are not Rambo." -- Jodie Foster; Actress - as quoted in The New York Times Magazine. "The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race." -- Sally Miller Gearhart, in The Future - If There Is One - Is Female. "And if the professional rapist is to be separated from the average dominant heterosexual (male), it may be mainly a quantitative difference." -- Susan Griffin, Rape: The All-American Crime. "If life is to survive on this planet, there must be a decontamination of the Earth. I think this will be accompanied by an evolutionary process that will result in a drastic reduction of the population of males." --Mary Daly, former Professor at Boston College, 2001. "If anyone is prosecuted for filing a false report, then victims of real attacks will be less likely to report them." - David Angier "Men who are unjustly accused of rape can sometimes gain from the experience." - Catherine Comins "As long as some men use physical force to subjugate females, all men need not. The knowledge that some men do suffices to threaten all women. He can beat or kill the woman he claims to love; he can rape women...he can sexually molest his daughters... THE VAST MAJORITY OF MEN IN THE WORLD DO ONE OR MORE OF THE ABOVE." -- Marilyn French (her emphasis) My feelings about men are the result of my experience. I have little sympathy for them. Like a Jew just released from Dachau, I watch the handsome young Nazi soldier fall writhing to the ground with a bullet in his stomach and I look briefly and walk on. I don't even need to shrug. I simply don't care. What he was, as a person, I mean, what his shames and yearnings were, simply don't matter." -- Marilyn French; The Woman's Room. "All patriarchists exalt the home and family as sacred, demanding it remain inviolate from prying eyes. Men want privacy for their violations of women... All women learn in childhood that women as a sex are men's prey." -- Marilyn French "All men are rapists and that's all they are" -- Marilyn French, Authoress; (later, advisoress to Al Gore's Presidential Campaign.) "The media treat male assaults on women like rape, beating, and murder of wives and female lovers, or male incest with children, as individual aberrations...obscuring the fact that all male violence toward women is part of a concerted campaign." -- Marilyn French "I believe that women have a capacity for understanding and compassion which man structurally does not have, does not have it because he cannot have it. He's just incapable of it." -- Barbara Jordan; Former Congresswoman. "Probably the only place where a man can feel really secure is in a maximum security prison, except for the imminent threat of release." -- Germaine Greer. "Man-hating is everywhere, but everywhere it is twisted and transformed, disguised, tranquilized, and qualified. It coexists, never peacefully, with the love, desire, respect, and need women also feel for men. Always man-hating is shadowed by its milder, more diplomatic and doubtful twin, ambivalence." -- Judith Levine; Authoress "Men's sexuality is mean and violent, and men so powerful that they can 'reach WITHIN women to ****/construct us from the inside out.' Satan-like, men possess women, making their wicked fantasies and desires women's own. A woman who has sex with a man, therefore, does so against her will, 'even if she does not feel f more

Open Question: What Would You Do? WWYD?

I recently had a disturbing experience when applying for a job. After three phone screenings and one in-person meeting, I was told that I would be invited back for a second interview. On my way out, I was handed a release form and told to return it within two days. This form authorized the company to check my credit report, criminal background, and driving record. Although I have nothing to hide, this request seemed inappropriate. I responded by both phone and e-mail, saying that I would return the forms following a formal offer of employment, contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Within a day, I was informed that my application was no longer active. Can the company do this? more

Open Question: Are not all near-death experiences caused by a hallucinogen released in the brain?

People say that they've died and come back to life - supposedly going to the 'next world' in between time. But have they really? Medically, you're dead when your heart stops beating. But consciousness doesn't really END until all the electrochemical activity in your brain has halted completely. It is a scientific fact that an ultra powerful hallucinogen known as 'Dimethyletriptomine' is released in the brain during REM sleep and when the brain realizes it's dying. So would that not render every so called 'other worldly' near death experiences as a mere hallucination before death? (Or coming "back to life") There doesn't seem to be any metaphysical implications with this process. What are your thoughts, arguments, opinions? more

Resolved Question: What proven methods that work when trying to get a newborn to sleep more throughout the night?

My son is almost six weeks old. He liked being swaddled in the first few weeks of being born but throws a fit if we try it now. He doesn't like he hands being tied down and will squirm and cry until they are released. I have tried to wait a while to see if he'll calm down but he doesn't like being restrained. He usually sleeps with his hands over his head. I have tried giving him a bath around 8 or 9 p.m. and rubbing him down with that Johnson & Johnson lavender scent lotion. He seems a tad bit more relaxed after a bath but that's not putting him down for the night. He has been sleeping with us since he was born. His room is far away from our room and I don't feel comfortable leaving him up there to sleep even with a monitor. He refuses to sleep in the pack and play at night. If I make sure he's sleep he will do fine during the day, but it's not happening at night. He wakes up every 5 to 30 minutes and cries, cries, cries. I try to soothe him my rubbing him or putting my hand on him and he isn't having it. I need some PROVEN tips. Tips that have worked for you, if any, that worked during this age. I expected to be sleep deprived but this is really taking a toll on me. By the time he wakes up, I feed him and burp him and he settles down (which takes a while because he's spitting up) I am exhausted. The only time I get any relief is the weekends when my husband is off. I have realized that I'm probably not experiencing post partum depression or baby blues, but an adjustment to being a new parent. This is the hardest thing I have ever done. I had no experience with babies and was rarely around infants and toddlers. I feel horrible because I become agitated and depressed when the evening comes because I know what is to come. I REALLY NEED TO GET MY BABY TO SLEEP IN HIS PACK AND PLAY OR CRIB as I have to go back to work on April 1st. Also, he cries EVERYTIME he wakes up. He started doing this a couple of weeks ago.Just to add: I am not expecting him to sleep all the way through the night. But at least 2-4 hours in his pack and play or crib, without waking up whining and crying until place him in the bed with us (and sometimes he squirms then but he sleeps pretty good in the bed with us).I am about to go crazy. I try to keep him up during the day but the most I can do that is about four hours total (at two hours at a time). I love my son but I am convinced that I don't want to have anymore kids due to the stress of the newborn stage. more

Open Question: What is your favorite Jimi Hendrix Experience album?

Of the three studio albums that the Jimi Hendrix Experience released, "Are You Experienced?", "Axis: Bold as Love", and "Electric Ladyland", which is your favorite, and why? __________________________________________________________________________________ My favorite is Axis: Bold as Love. I know I'm probably in the minority, this seems to be the least celebrated of their three albums. But, its my favorite for a few reasons. For one thing, it does show Jimi exploring a lot of different musical territory from "Are You Experienced?" When you consider how closely released this was after the first album, you might think that Jimi would have made a similarly sounding album to capitalize on its success, but "Axis" is a very different album than "Are You Experienced?" Its not nearly as heavy, in terms of sound, as the first one, nor is it as experimental. But I think that the stripped down nature of the record really lets the music breathe, let's Jimi's guitar really shine through. Second, is I think that overall it has his best songwriting/lyrics, because to me, compared with "Are You Experienced", and "Electric Ladyland", it just sounds effortless. To me the songs on here are the most beautiful, melodic, and gentle, and he creates such incredible imagery with his lyrics, "Travel by dragonfly", "Clouds overflow with cotton candy", "Butterflies and moonbeams and zebras, that's all she ever thinks about." Amazing. Overall, it may not be as groundbreaking as "Are You Experienced?" or as experimental or creative as "Electric Ladyland", I'll admit that. But it always has struck me as Jimi's most sincere album, and will always be the one closest to my heart. more

Resolved Question: A few sexual and masturbation questions...?

I was just looking for a main overall site that would have advice, tips, questions, faqs, blogs, something, where I can ask questions, but I can't find a site I think I can really trust or one that I think would be popular enough to have a wide range of feedback. So I'll ask my questions on here, and if you can direct me to a good site (im a teen), then that'd be great. 1) How long does it take you/most women to orgasm? 2) What techniques you know of (give me really graphic and detailed) do you/women do to orgasm? What exactly do you do and how long do you do it, (do you pause and get at it again, do you keep going, etc.) Often, I wonder how some girls are able to keep going at it with themselves and not stop. Or are there girls like that? It just gets so pleasurable it's almost unbearable. 3) Are there any exercises I can do to increase my endurance and the amount of times I can keep going? (I thought it was only boys who could last for 5-20 min. and girls could last for hours, but I guess not. I still have yet to try that theory with a partner(s) 4) I have experienced the want to pee before I orgasm, and I've researched it and know that it's normal, but sometimes I let go and pee actually comes out. I don't think yet I've tried to reach orgasm after I pee and see if something comes out, but.. And when you do ejaculate the watery clear liquid, is it supposed to spurt out a few feet? Also, where does it come out? Through the urethra? How does that work? 5) Are there any pills/herbs I can take to make me stay wetter longer? I get dry pretty soon, but I still want to keep going, but it kinda hurts afterward cuz there's nothing lubricating it. (and at this point, im too afraid to use lube itself) 6) What kind of brand of lubricant should I use? I want it to be water-based, unscented (no fragrance!!),that's really mild and for sensitive...skin? idk. Im just really afraid of getting a yeast infection, and I'm always wondering what they mean for "external use only". Does that mean you can't put it inside your vagina, or what? 7) where can I get the best, cheapest dildo? I watch shop erotic when i can't sleep, and some of the ones i really like are $169. 8) How do I know when I've finished orgasming? I've read that one definition of orgasm is the tensing up of muscles (which i get) and then release. but usually my release is when i can't take it anymore, and im lyk, ok, i reached the good point, just relax now. With boys, when they ejaculate, their dildong deflates and it's useless for a while and you can't arouse them right after. But after I orgasm, sometimes I go back up and it's still really tender. 9)do i have to worry about oil getting in there? is that dangerous, or what? 10) do most women shave their pussy or not? Every time I try, it itches like hell and I vow not to do it again. Do you have to just keep doing it until it gets used to it and doesn't irritate and actually feels soft? 11)for waxing, do I have to worry about the wax getting inside? 12) anal sex has always confused me. I'll be blunt and say, what about the poop? Do you clean it out before, and how? 13) What really good sites do you know of that have erotic stories? Personally, I like short, graphic ones that get to the point. 14) What site has free porn vids set in the past? (ancient greek, rennaissance, 16th to 18th centuries) I'm always wishing they had versions of movies (underworld, lord of the rings, any part where the movie starts to get racy) where they go all the way into a full out porn sex scene? (yes, I watch porn, get over it.) I think that's it. You don't have to answer these questions yourself, you can just give me a site that would have one or all of these questions answered. And note, I am asking these questions freely, graphically, and bluntly because I feel these are perfectly legitimate curiousity sex questions to be asking and that it's normal. (I mean, that's the assurance I've gotten.) Thank you for your advice and understanding. :) more

Resolved Question: **Females Only Please** Question about female ejaculation?

PLEASE** For mature readers and answers I am curious about learning how to female ejaculate. I've heard about it a few years ago so my husband and I tried countless times and with my luck, I did not prevail and gave up. Just recently I started trying to do it again, this time by myself. I have looked online about different techniques, how and what I need to do to achieve this orgasm. I think I may have maybe about 5 times but Im not exactly sure. When I have, it does not feel like an orgasm, it feels good but I usually have a better orgasm when I do not release anything. So this leads to my first question, does female ejaculation always occur during an orgasm or can it be separate? I have found it hard to have an orgasm via g-spot stimulation anyway, I almost always have to include clitoral stimulation as well. I tried stimulating both in order to ejaculate but again no orgasm with fluids.... I decided to use a vibrator just on my clitoris since the majority of my orgasms are reached that way anyway. I did have an orgasm and tried to release and push but my own body held back almost automatically. I had no control. This has happened a few times even when im fully relaxed. So...next question is how do you relax and release these fluids without your body holding back? While right after having an orgasm I decided to use the vibrator on my clitoris again, let me tell you, its extremely sensitive but I found a spot that if I hit it right it makes me feel like I have to urinate but feels somewhat good at the same time, although not orgasm good. I did however release fluids and now I'm unsure if I urinated or not. I would really like to understand this more and if there's anyone that can truly help me in achieving this, I would greatly appreciate it. By the way, I want to do this as a surprise for my husband and experience something new with him. Thank you!! more

Resolved Question: What are you rooting for? The Streak(Undertaker) or The Career (HBK) + YWWA Presents GCW Results 3?

Main Event: The Legacy Continues and Stewie Griffn vs The Top Chart Mob (Scene and Punker) with Psycho Dude 99 and King Cliff at ringside With PD’s 2 best enemies facing off against his 2 best friends, and their so called bitchh at ringside along with PD, this match was sure to have hell raised. TLC teamed up with the man he wanted to beat PD, Stewie. They match started off with CMP and TLC. Fans were all behind TLC and Stewie. The match picked off with TLC wasting no time. He charged CMP and took him down with a shoulder block. CMP looked a little off guard and reached his feet right away only to find himself taken back down with a clothesline. CMP wanted no part of TLC and crawled to tag in Scene. Scene came in and only arrived to be hit with an inverted back breaker. TLC was on fire and ready to go. He made a tag into Stewie and he came in and started punching Scene. But Scene managed to dodge a punch and he hit a spinning neckbreaker on Stewie to take him down. Scene pulled up Stewie and held onto him as he tagged CMP in and together they used their tag experience to double team Stewie with a double DDT. CMP went for a quick pin but Stewie kicked out. CMP put Stewie in a waist lock and Stewie focused on breaking the hold. His choice to get it broken was to tag in TLC. Stewie worked his way to his feet and tried hard to make his way to TLC. CMP resisted as best as he could and it was a war to see who would prevail. Stewie won that war and tagged TLC in. TLC came running in as Stewie fell to the mat and he began taking CMP to the limit. He threw CMP into the ropes and when he came back he sent him down with a back body drop. He waited for CMP to reach his feet only to be sent down with a very impactful dropkick. Scene then came running in and he received an impactful dropkick as well. Stewie then reached his feet and joined the fight. He worked on Scene and TLC worked on CMP. With punches flying wild TLC had CMP on the ropes and Scene had Stewie on the ropes as well. Then each man clotheslined the man they were working on out of the ring leaving Scene and TLC in the ring. Scene then threw TLC out of the ring leaving himself as the only man left standing in the ring sending YWWA to a break. When YWWA returned Stewie and CMP were legal and CMP had Stewie in another waist lock. But this time Stewie began elbowing the face of CMP and that got him to release the hold. Stewie then dove over for another tag to TLC. TLC as always came in red hot. He sent CMP down. CMP got up and was sent back down again. Then he ran and knocked Scene off the apron. CMP approached his feet and TLC hit him with a scoop slam. That’s when King Cliff stood on the apron in an attempt to distract the ref. But Stewie saw Cliff and ran into the ring and took him off the apron. That’s when Scene came back into the ring and he hit a Scene Shaker on Stewie sending him rolling out of the ring. With chaos happening TLC didn’t see CMP behind him and he hit TLC with a DDT. TLC was down and CMP had the pin. 1, 2, kick out! So close but not a win. Scene pulled up TLC and he and CMP hit him with a double suplex. The match seemed to be coming to an end after 20 minutes. Scene pulled up TLC and set up for a 2nd Scene Shaker. But instead TLC escaped and pushed Scene aside as he hit a snap suplex on CMP into Scene. CMP’s feet collided with Scene’s face and Scene rolled out of the ring. TLC set up for his Legacy Cutter when PD stood on the apron. He wanted to distract the ref and TLC but before he could get the chance because Stewie snuck up behind him and pulled his feet off from the apron sending PD face 1st into the apron. CMP got up and TLC hit a Legacy Cutter. 1, 2, 3! TLC and Stewie won! The 2 stood tall together in the ring celebrating their win. They overcame the odds, but could they overcome the odds in their matches at Quest for the Best? That’s the question everyone had in mind. Winners: The Legacy Continues and Stewie Griffn ATTENTION!!!!! VINCE, A.K.A, Y2J The World Is Yours, Had the best promo he has EVER done on the Breakdown results. Sadly i let it go to voting and he deserves BA! I here by give Y2J BA for the Breakdown Results! Everyone congradualte Vince! more

Voting Question: Heavy Rain is one of it's kind?

ODST is only a new single player with same graphics and multiplayer. with 1 new mode. ODST is supposed to be an expansion for Halo 3 for $20, but then Microsoft wanted to make more money from Halo so they are release it on a disc for $60. hoping Xbox fanboys are dumb enough to waste their money. now Uncharted 2 is truly genuine 'next-gen' experience, not only does the story inspires other writers to do better, the whole game is like interactive movie experience.single player is a live action film that is almost impossible to put down, multiplayer adds much more hours to the game. graphics to me this game is Oscar worthy, heck the top hollywood writers would struggle to come up with something this once in a life time experience The most overrated game of this year is a Alan Wake. I the don't understand what's so special about it? everybody is making it out to be some great game, in survival horror. or maybe the Xbox fanboys want another franchise other then Halo, Gears of War, to tell you the truth it wouldn't be surprise xbox gamers base this game on the reviews if doesn't match up to the hype given to it. even though White Knight Chronicles had lackluster reviews , PS3 gamers still support it, you see we appreciate Heavy Rain is the Ōkami of this generation, the game itself is very unique, it offers revolutionary control system and decision making parts of the game which can lead the story in so many different directions and will keep you guessing till the very last. in other words it would make others like part of the cast in live interactive movie.taking place within their own home. this is incredible achievement for video games. in a world when FPS online shooter frenzy that has been dominating our shelves over the last few years. or the open world GTA style driving games it's good to see a game life this take a big risk. just like Ōkami was with PS2 How is my grammar? is it okay more

Resolved Question: Subaru service program WVL-22 questions?

'"The one way fuel valve is located at the base of a small sub chamber contained in the fuel tank. When the tank's fuel level drops below 1 1/2 gallons, the sub chamber is intended to provide a fuel reserve for the fuel pump during vehicle cornering. However, the one way valve may inadvertently act in such a way as to prevent fuel from refilling the sub chamber, failing to provide the intended reserve. If this were to happen, the fuel pump could momentarily draw air, causing the engine to experience a sporadic misfire condition resulting in possible damage to your vehicle's catalytic converter. (The "Check Engine" light will illuminate to alert you if the catalytic converter has degraded beyond an acceptable level and if your vehicle may be releasing air pollutants that exceed emission standards)" --------------------------------------… If I am reading this correctly, the only time anything can happen is if I am running my car with under 1 1/2 gallons of gasoline? Also, this service program was initiated in 2007 and I just received the letter today!!!! So it can't be that big of a deal. more

Voting Question: i have recurring abdominal pain. what could it be?

really painful. it start a bit tolerable then it gets really painful. the feeling is far from what we typically feel when we experience LBM or diarrhea. the feeling is like my stomach is being squeezed or millions of needles are poking my stomach. i also feel that i need to release some gas so i try to burp as much as possible but it's not as easy as when you drink soda or something similar. earlier, i tried to open my mouth really wide similar to when you try to vomit so i can push myself to release some more gas. it did help quite a bit because it did lessen the pain but the pain returns again. i took one buscopan tablet after i ate my lunch and the took some sleep. i woke after 2 hours and now i'm feeling better. i still feel the need to burp but i don't feel the pain anymore. just traces because i feel quite tired because if the pain. it is not the first time.i experienced it several times already. the worst was when i had it for 3 consecutive days. i took some tests. but the doctor only tested me with blood test and urinalysis. he did a couple of pressures on my stomach but i didn't felt anything painful. urinalysis only showed me i had a very mild UTI. i wonder what could it be? i can't go to a doctor now since i'm away from home and doing some school stuffs. a couple of ideas or explanations? thank you. more

Resolved Question: Motorbike stalled in neutral?

When I was parking up my Yamaha YBR I slipped it into neutral and released the clutch, I then rolled the Bike forwards. I then pulled the front brake to bring the slow roll to a stop, but then the Bike stalled! The 'Neutral' light was on to indicate it definately was in neutral. Stalled, the bikes Neutral indicator was on, so I just pressed the start-up button and the bike just stalled right out, in neutral again. On a third attempt I just held in the clutch and ran from 'neutral' to 1st, then back to neutral before switching off the engine to park. My question is, What do you think caused this, and how could I avoid this in the future? (I have only experienced this problem once) ThanksThanks, I didnt even think about 'feeling' for neutral... more

Resolved Question: Is Xanax (alprazolam) memory loss normal?

Due to some recent panic attacks after a somewhat bad experience I recently had in the past few months, my psychiatrist prescribed me generic Xanax (alprazolam 2mg tablets). I am not looking to use the Xanax for long term use, I just have had to deal with a few bad things that happened recently, and am probably going to use it very infrequently for a few weeks. I also am prescribed Dexedrine Spansules (dextroamphetamine 2x15mg time release capsules) for ADHD. I take one Dexedrine when I first wake up (9:30AM), and another in the afternoon (3:30PM). I rarely take the Dexedrine on weekends, holidays, or vacations in order to avoid tolerance and dependence. Well, I felt very nervous yesterday afternoon and decided to take the Xanax and being a weekend, I didn't take the Dexedrine. It calmed my nerves down very well and quickly, but then during the USA/Canada hockey game, I remember the Canadians scoring the first goal. After that, my memory is gone, just like, "poof! goodbye reality!". The next thing you know, it's 3AM, and I wake up in my dorm room on my bed and my roommate was working at his desk. I asked him what happened, and he said I came in and fell asleep around about 7PM and didn't say much, and I have no recollection of my afternoon, the hockey game, if I went anywhere, etc. It felt like an alcohol blackout, minus the trashed and sick feeling. Is this normal? I think I may talk to my shrink, (and she is a good shrink, she actually sits down with me and seems to care so don't say she's bad because she's a psychiatrist) and discuss lowering the dosage or not taking it at all. But has anyone else had this experience? more

Voting Question: Do you think it is true that school psychologists and psychiatric wards are abusing people ?

I've had an horrible psychiatric ward experience from the past and it still haunts me till today. Back when i was in high school in the 10th grade a school psychologist started paying close attention to me and then started to confront me and made my life miserable. He then removed me from my classes and putted me into his self contained classes for special needs kids. I had an picture of my favorite female artist on my binder cover and he forced me to remove the picture but i didn't listen so he phone called my parents and ask them to put me in a psychiatric ward because my parents thought he was helping so they listened to him. The Picture wasn't revealing anything and the singer was fully clothed. After getting admitted to the hospital about 3 days and i started missing my family and I ask the nurses if i could call and they yelled at me for no reason and i got upset and yelled back and they locked me in a separate weird room with only a toilet and a sink. It was very weird. After a week I got released from the hospital and they gave me a bogus diagnoses as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( OCD ). The school psychologist continued to make my life miserable and took away my high school diploma and gave me a District Diploma. I really think psychologists and psychiatrists and psychiatric ward are abusing people in the hospital and out in society. Do you think it is true that psychologists and psychiatric wards are abusing people ?? Has anyone else besides me encountered something similar in a psychiatric ward ?? I really want to know because i believe those people are being very abusive to others. more

Resolved Question: In 2002, why did Bush ask his fannie mae appointees to "make 440 BILLION in subprime loans to minorities"?

Here is the video...go to the 4 minute mark to hear him say it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNqQx7sjoS8 Here is the offical white house text of that speech he gave in atlanta on june 17, 2002. http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2002/06/20020617-2.html Here is the offical white house fact sheet: http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2002/06/20020617.html Bush said "...That's why I've challenged the industry leaders all across the country to get after it for this goal, to stay focused, to make sure that we achieve a more secure America, by achieving the goal of 5.5 million new minority home owners. I call it America's home ownership challenge. And let me talk about some of the progress which we have made to date, as an example for others to follow. First of all, government sponsored corporations that help create our mortgage system -- I introduced two of the leaders here today -- they call those people Fannie May and Freddie Mac, as well as the federal home loan banks, will increase their commitment to minority markets by more than $440 billion. (Applause.) I want to thank Leland and Franklin for that commitment. It's a commitment that conforms to their charters, as well, and also conforms to their hearts." (Please note that bush appoints Leland and Franklin to their jobs at fannie mae and freddie mac so when he asks for 440 BILLION that is basically a presidential order) Also note: The govt can not force a bank to make a bad loan. And surely, an ALL REPUBLICAN GOVT would not force a bank to make a bad loan. In 2002, republicans controlled both congress and the white house. You can't blame this on democrats and barney frank. In fact, bush's top 2 banking appointees have stated that the CRA - community reinvestment act - has had absoutely nothing to do with the banking crisis. Bush appointee Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said "Experience runs counter to the charge that CRA was at the root of, or otherwise contributed in any substantive way to, the current mortgage difficulties." In a November 25, 2008, letter, Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke stated: "Our own experience with CRA over more than 30 years and recent analysis of available data, including data on subprime loan performance, runs counter to the charge that CRA was at the root of, or otherwise contributed in any substantive way to, the current mortgage difficulties." more

Resolved Question: What do you think of this album review? (10 POINTS UP FOR GRABS)?

Hey guys. So I want to be a music journalist and I'm trying to gain experience by writing record reviews and writing about bands. Can u tell me what you think of this review? (regardless if you disagree with the review or don't like the band at all) just tell me if it's what you'd expect if you were reading a music review in a magazine, online, etc. Darkhorse Record Review Nickelback has found itself in a familiar spot that most groups land in when trying to produce a follow up to an album of major success. With the release of the Albertan quartet's sixth studio album, Darkhouse, Nickelback was obviously scraping the bottom of the barrel to produce a record worthy of selling in stores. The album features a barrage of sex infested tracks that fail to impress and come across as a strip club playlist. Stand out tracks that are worthy of some praise include Burn It To The Ground, a high energy shot of what hard rock should sound like and I'd Come For You, a heartfelt ballad that brings us back to the "Far Away" days. To be fair to the band, only about two thirds of the album is a total disappointment. The majority of the lyrics lack substance though. After so many excellent records, you come to expect more from such a strong group. It feels as though they got lost between trying to emulate Buckcherry and Kid Rock. Let's put it this way, if Buckcherry and Kid Rock were to reproduce, Dark Horse would be their offspring. more

Resolved Question: what is the next step? Sociopathic mother. HELP!?

Ok, readers digest version here. I am 1 out of 6 children. first 4 including myself are grown and flown the coop. the only two that are left are my younger brother and sister. Sister-14yrs old. brother 12yrs old. My mom is by far the definition of a sociopath. She lives her life thriving on dramatic events. Whenever she calls, there's some "emergency" at hand that needs to be dealt with NOW! There is no reasoning with her. Anytime something happens, it's never little, it's always some huge blown up event and whenever she tells the story, it gets worse and worse each time she tells it. You can't trust what she's saying because u never know when she's telling the truth. She has no friends, the only people she associates herself with are us kids (minus one that will have nothing to do with her) her mom and her aunt and uncle. She has a boyfriend, he's already married so their relationship is secret, we're not supposed to know who he is, but we know. And the only people that know about this is our inner circle of the family. She is a champ at making situations about herself. Everything is always about her. I can tell her I have a headache and shell sit there and start telling me that "she has a headache her back aches, even her feet hurt so could you please go get me a cup of coffee, I've had a bad day and this stuff always seems to follow me." There is something tramatic happening to her at least 3 times a week. There's always something. When I was younger I didn't understand the word sociopath. I didn't even know it at the time, I just hated my mom for always running her mouth about whatever drama was going on to the first person that would listen. Now on to the current situation. My younger sister is 14 just starting to stretch her wings and experience what it's like to go hang out with people outside of the house. She wasn't home by the time she said she would be, mom layed into her, called me wanted me to lay into her as well. I called babygirl and said look, you know mom's mad u need to follow the rules if you want to continue to be allowed to do things. called mom back and told her that I had talked to lil sis and she understands and is sorry, she's almost home. Told mom that from experience (my horrible adolesence) that she doesn't need to yell at her anymore. Lil sis understands. Gets home and mom starts laying in to her for close to an hour from what I hear. Lil sis can't take it anymore and tells mom that she doesn't want to be around anymore. after lil sis says that, my mom sporadically rushes lil sis to hospital under suicide watch. Family disagreed with that decision saying that she should have given her a hot meal and let her go to sleep think and talk about it tomorrow. No doesnt' happen that way. Lil sis is in hospital for 4 days. while she's there she tries to cut herself with pen. get released from hospital. By this time nobody can contact lil sis, mom disallowed visitation from anybody except herself. So we were turned away. I still haven't talked to my little sister. Yesterday morning my twin sister calls me and tells me that mom checked ronda back into hospital because she overdosed on pills. they pumped her stomach and found 109 pills of basic household drugs in her system. plus a bunch of her anti-depressants. I'm so over this. I have been there once as well as the oldest who doesn't have a relationship with my mom. It's all because of the chaos that my mom creates around her. When I found out I drove the hour to where the kids' dad lives and told him all that was going on. On the way I was on phone with SRS and when I got there we made another report for him as well. He had no idea, my mom has alienated the kids from their dad, which is the same that she did with us older kids. But once a problem arises mom can't deal with it so she throws us off to someone else. Anyways I went and talked to the judge that oversees the ongoing battle my mom has against the kids' dad and he granted me temporary custody of the kids until the next court hearing. Found out today that lil sis is being transfered to a group home out of state for up to two months to undergo therapy. What's next????? What do I do, I do not feel that my mom is a physical threat to the kids, and |I don't believe that they should be taken from her permanently but something has got to give here. At least the kids aren't in an environment where they're hearing they're mom say nothing but horrible things about their dad and us other kids and the rest of the family. Mom is addicted to loritabs and I believe that was a reason for lil sis to release the pain in the way she did. But what should I do?? I'm stuck on what to do next???? Any input towards my situation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. more

Resolved Question: POLL: which one of these do you experience more often?

The Perfect Dump -- Every once in a while, each of us experiences a perfect dump, it's rare, but a thing of beauty in all respects. You sit down expecting the worst, but what you get is a smooth sliding, fartless masterpiece that breaks the water with the splashless grace of an expert diver. But that's not the end of it. You use some toilet tissue only to find that it was totally unnecessary. It makes you feel that all is right with the world and you are in perfect harmony with it. The Beer Dump -- Talk about nasty dumps. Depending on the dumper's tolerance, the beer dump is the end result of too many beers. it could have been 2 or 22, it doesn't matter. What you get is a sinister, lengthy, noisy dump accompanied by a malevolent fog that could close a bathroom for days. The Chili Dump - Hot when it goes in, and rocket fuel when it leaves. The chili dump stays with you all day, making your tush feel like a heat shield. The Empty Roll Dump - You're done...you reach for the toilet paper only to discover that empty cardboard cylinder. A mild panic begins coldly in your throat. You could use the curtains...no, someone would say ''Where are the curtains?'' Then what would you say? The rug?...too cumbersome. Then you must come to the same conclusion that every ''empty roll dumper'' must face...Pull up your slacks, tighten your tush and wriggle yourself to the nearest full roll. The Splash-Back Dump - You send the dump on its way, it drops like a depth charge into the bowl creating a column of cold bowl water that washes your bottom with a startlingly unpleasant shock. Now you're wet and embarrassed. Tip: Blot instead of wiping. The Aborted Dump - You are in mid-dump when the phone rings. What do you do? ABORT! Pinch it off, go for the phone, and save the rest for later. It isn't pretty, but you've gotta do what you gotta do. The Childbirth Dump -- This is a dump that is simply too big to go through the aperture provided by nature for the purpose. You sit there, thinking over your dilemma. First it hurts, and it isn't going to get any better. You wonder if you'll ever see your loved ones again. You imagine the newspaper headlines screaming ''Man dies trying to hatch monster loaf.'' You realize you'll have to resolve the crisis before you can leave the bathroom. Basically there are only three things you can do: Scream, call an Obstetrician, or just hope like hell have enough Vaseline to get you through it. The Machine Gun Dump -- You're just sitting there in a state of sublime peace when all of a sudden you emit a group of noisy gassy bursts that break the silence like machine gun fire. The guy in the next stall hits the floor like a combat veteran, cradling his umbrella like an M16 and shrieking something about “damn Commies.” The Sound Effect Dump -- You feel a noisy one coming on. Relatives, friends or work mates are within earshot, so you must employ some clever techniques to cover the disgusting sounds you are about to emit. Timing is obviously very important here. At the precise moment of release, try the following sound effects: flush the toilet, sing the first two stanzas of your national anthem, or drop a handful of quarters on the floor The Whole Roll Dump -- No matter how much you wipe, it doesn't seem to be enough. You blow the whole roll and you have to flush 25 times too. The whole episode is consumer waste. more

Resolved Question: Nude Photography question help?

So I recently did a semi nude photoshoot with this one girl. It was a learning experience and it turned out to be fun at the same time. It helped that I knew the girl for a long time before the shoot. So I knew I could trust her and she could trust me. I did make her sign the release form. But here is my question: I often hear people say, "make the subj sign the waiver, that helps protect you in case she comes back at you later." But that works basically when it concerns where and how the pictures will be portrayed. So what actually protects you from the subj accusing you of something you KNOW you didn't? Just knowing that the law favors the word of women as opposed men a lil more, I was just wondering how other photographers may protect themselves from that possibility or do they even think about it at all? Sorry but any help would be great. Also nothing has happened! more

Resolved Question: Do I have Endometriosis? Where can I get diagnosed?

I've been trying to self-diagnose myself because I'm already gone to the several different doctors who have no idea what is wrong with me. I've been getting severe abdominal pain around the lower pelvis about 4-5 times a year since I was a pre-teen. Initially, when I get the pain, it's bearable for the first couple of hours and increases with time. It feels like someone is constantly stabbing me internally. It hurts to sit, use the restroom, lay on my sides. (Some doctors, when hearing these symptoms have insulted me saying that I must have an STD! I don't. I've have numerous blood tests.) Around 5-10 hours after, I will feel an enormous amount of pain in the said area. It feels like a bomb exploded inside me, and the pain rises to my chest. This intense pain lasts usually around 10 mins. I cannot move or breathe deeply during this time and my stomach gets very swollen (I look pregnant). My insides will feel sore and my belly swollen for the next two weeks. I've been 3 different doctors. They all gave me different medications and no one has mention Endo to me. 2 of my doctors believed I was experience severe cramps, the other doctor said he believed it was a cyst but had burst because my abdominal pelvic area was full of blood and pus (that's what it says on my release papers). He told me not to worry because cysts are a common occurrence with girls. I found out about it when doing some research and discovering that the symptoms for Endo was very similiar to what I felt. I want to know, from people with experience on this, do I sound like I have Endo? Is there an affordable place where I can go to diagnose this and help get treatment (I have no med insurance)? Any suggestions for the pain? I've been prescribed pain meds but they don't do anything. I'm getting extremely frustrated because this has happened to be about 3 times at work. The pain is so severe, I will just collapse on the floor when I believe the "cysts" are bursting. Also, I feel like my boss is starting to think I'm not a very dependable worker because he doesn't know when I'll have these "incidents". He's already addressed that I need to find out what's wrong with me because this is seriously effecting my job. Thank you so much for your answers! more

Resolved Question: Hospital Denied me the right to breastfeed my son (in florida) anything I can do?

recently I had broke my ankle at the park w/ my kids. I was taken by ambulence to the nearest hospital emergency room. When I arrived my boyfriend took the kids to the waiting room. While there I was on a bed in the hallway for 5 hours. Meanwhile hysterical crying in pain. They did not give me any pain medicine, ice pack or anything. I was left laying there on a bed with no blanket as well. I asked numerous times for pain medicine, blanket and ice. As well as to go to the bathroom. At one point the male nurse tried to take me to the bathroom as he flipped my broken leg off the bed i screamed in pain so he put me back up on the bed and left me for another 2 hours. All the while I was hysterical crying in pain. I had a bone sticking out of my leg (not thru the skin but you could see it sticking out) and severly swollen. About 4 hours pass and I'm finally taken to xray. thanks to the xray techs they helped me to the bathroom. Afterwards I was brought back to the hallway to wait. About an hour after I had first arrived my son was bloody murder screaming inthe waiting room w/ my boyfriend. He was starving and is a breastfeed baby. He WILL NOT take a bottle and is highly allergic to any form of dairy. They told him I was not allowed to breastfeed b/c I was in the hallwaya nd they didnt have a room for me. I have a card I was given by the lactation consultant at the hospital i had my son. It stated you have the right to breastfeed any where you are authorized to be public or private and it gives the house bill #'s and/or statues. It is the LAW in Florida for the health and well being of both the mother and child. It was a total of 7 hours before I was released and given pain meds. They took my iv out w/o gloves 2 days later I popped up with these spots of puss and red and extremly painful all around where my iv was. then a day later they started appearing on my left leg and then my face. it was SO painful. Ended up at a different er to find out it is MRSA. Needless to say it was sa horrible experience. ANyhow my whole point here (dorry for all the extra details) is can I sue the hospital for denying me the right to breastfeed my child according to Florida Law? And if so, what kind of attorney do I need to hire? And how hard is it to sue a hospital I've heard it is nearly impossible. As well I was told that numerous restaurants have done this to mothers and paid out between 10-25 thousand dollars to keep them quiet and out of the news. Is there anything I can do for myself or to ensure this doesn't happen to another mother? I can provide you with the house bill #'s and statues if needed. Please only respond with advise or something prevelant to the question. Not to bash me as a person or my son for not taking a bottle. Thank you for your time. If you do not know the laws or you do not think yu can help then please refrain from commenting and keep your thoughts to yourself. Hopefully I can get help in this area b/c where I had posted before no one seemed to know what they were talking about. At least here I should be able to hear from other mom's. Maybe even some breastfeeding moms in florida, that would be great. thanks for your timethank you. do you know what kind of attorney I should contact? more

As well I was told that numerous restaurants have done this to mothers and paid out between 10-25 thousand dollars to keep them quiet and out of the news.To the second person who answered. First of all you know nothing about me so to assume I'm money hungry is kind of out of line. Second of all if you know nothing about it then do not respond. According to hte statues and laws in Florida. Even if your nipple is showing during or incedental to the breastfeeding it is still legally your right to breastfeed. So please do your homework before responding to something you know nothing about. and to the first person who responded. I am trying to figure out who to contact. An attorney? If so what kind? the hospital directly? The news? It is not so much about the money as it is the mother and child's right to breastfeed. You know? It is not only a natural/ nuturing thing but as well the only way my child will eat. and he was not allowed to for the total of 7 hours I was there. I hadn't fed him since 7 am and by the time I got out of there at 8 pm he was beyond starving. I do not want any other mother or child to have to go through the tortureboth of us did. Plus I was engorged once released from there and in alot of pain. The lactation consultant said that I could have got a really bad breast infection due to not being able to release the milk for 13 hours. You know what, since obviously you people are responding out of personal opinion instead of facts and legal rights. then why bother? If you are trying to make yourself feel better by hurting other people or picking them apart. For those of you who know what you are talking about and can possibly help then please respond. If you read above it is not about the money. Go watch Maury or Jerry Springer you'll fit right in. It isn't about my feelings being hurt either but my son's well being and mine. They did not allow me my RIGHT by LAW to breastfeed. In a hospital of all places where they should encourage mothers to breastfeed.Anne, no I have not even recieved the bill yet, this just happenedIs my question posted in the wrong area? I thought I posted in the "law" section?Thank you to the last person who commented. Do you know what kind of attorney I should contact? Would this be small claims? or what kind of attorney would protect your legal rights? more

Resolved Question: Did you ever have an almost dangerous experience playing with handcuffs As A Child without adult supervision?

like what almost happened to me. When I was 11 years old. In the winter My cousin handcuffed me to a cold radiator, and walked away. Fortunately he came back and released me before the heat came on. Later when the heat came on we realized what would of happened if the heat came on while I was handcuffed. I would of been burned badly. more

Resolved Question: What do you think of this record review for All Time Low?

I want to be a music journalist and I'm just trying to get some experience now by writing on this blog. If you have any suggestions on how I could make this better, please tell me. I enjoy your criticism!!!(: This pop punk quartet from Baltimore, Maryland certainly do not dissapoint on this acoustic set, recorded at the MTV studios. The live concert, which can be purchased as a DVD/CD pack at your local record store was released shortly after the band put out their third studio album, Nothing Personal. Their performance is compromised of six songs and on the DVD, you can see that these guys leave their audience absolutely mesmorized. Though they start off their set with the ever catchy Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don’t) which proves to pump the crowd up as they put emphasis on the Go! part of the chorus. These boys travel back to their roots as they bring us the lovely melodies which accompany Their So Wrong It’s Right tracks, like, Coffee Shop Soundtrack (which depicts an affair that vocalist Gaskarth had with a married woman) and Remembering Sunday (which gives us a surprise as Kate Voegele performs Juliet Simm’s part beautifully). Also off this album, proven to quite the crowd favourite is Jasey Rae. I have to admit, that this track just may sound better when performed acoustic. The passion that is expressed during this song may be the exact reason why. Following Jasey is Weightless, the turn around point in the Nothing Personal album which lifted Gaskarth out of writer’s block and is considered probably the most sucessful track on the album. What would a All Time Low performance be without a little Dear Maria? To wrap up thier performance, the band close with a classic (as far as the underground alt-rock scene is concerned) Dear Maria Count Me In. Their is hope in the final words that say “There’s a story at the bottom of this bottle”, something that is coincidentally proved in practically all All Time Low songs. Fact is, All Time Low always has a story to tell, whether it be about strippers, married woman, breaking out, or simply falling in over your head for love. This is a characteristic that helps them shine and rise above the numerous groups that so enviously strive to emulate them. There is no doubt in my mind that the future holds great promises for All Time Low. more

Voting Question: can you please summarize this for me, thank you very much?

according to the U.S Census Bureau, Americans are, in aggregate, doing pretty well. Despite a slight downturn since 2000, for some years now the median income of American households, measured in constant dollars, has been increasing at a fairly steady pace. and the number of families with incomes below the poverty line-- defined as $18,392 for a family of four--declined appreciably during the long economic boom of the 1990s, with the poverty rate in 2000 reaching its lowest level since 1973.since then, however, the poverty rate has inched up to 12.7%. 40 years after president Lyndon Jonhson declared "war on poverty", 37 million americans continue to live in poverty, a third of them children. that's more than one out of every nine people. moreover, the average adult American has a 60% chance of living at least one year below the poverty line and a 33% chance of experiencing dire poverty. most people think that those described as "poor" in the U.S are pretty well off by world standards. the truth is , in life expectancy 20 years old U.S. males rank thirty-sixth among the world's nations, and 20 years old U.S. females rank twenty- first. our infant mortality rate is worse than that in twenty-one other Western nations. even Beijing's infant morality rate is lower than NEw York City's. in fact, if our infant mortality rate were as good as Cuba's, we would save an additional 2,212 babies each year. if it were as good as Cuba's, we'd save 18,900 babies. furthermore, millions of Americans endure hunger. according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 34.9 million Americans lack "food security", and in 3 million American household one or more persons go hungry during the year. in addition, on out of every 4 Americans lives in substandard housing, and in most cities one sees people roaming the streets in tattered clothing, picking their food out of garbage cans. homeless people--many of them former mental patients released from state hospitals, others jobless individuals and families unable to afford housing--live in abandoned card and shacks or simply sleep in doorways and on subway grates. reliable figures are hard to come by, but probably between 700,000 and 800,000 americans are homeless on nay given night and between 2.5 and 3.5 million people are homeless sometime during the year. people in different walks of life and in different circumstances experience poverty. many others live on the edge of poverty and are in continual danger of falling into it through illness, job loss. or other misfortune. in the U.S. today, the "working poor"--those who earn less than $8.84 an hour, which translates into a full time salary just below the poverty line for a family of four-- # 28 million. they represent a higher percentage of the workforce than in the 1970s as well paid unionized manufacturing jobs have been replaced by nonunion service jobs. in 1997 the minimum wage was increased to $5.15 per hour, but it is still less in real terms than it was in 1969. someone working forty hours a week, for that wage cannot raise his or her family out of poverty. in fact, according to an advocacy group, a minimum-wage earner can afford to pay rent and utilities on a one bedroom apartment in only 4 countries in the whole country. many poor people are unable to work and depend on outside assistance, but living decently on welfare has always been difficult, if not impossible, the old system of AFDC ( Aid to Families with Dependent Children) was popular when it was created in 1935 abd nist AFDC recipients were widows. but in recent times, fewer than 2% of recipients were widows and most had never been married to their child's other parent. public support for the program ebbed away as many Americans came to believe that AFDC discouraged its recipients from marrying and from working. as a result, benefits grew even stingier. by 1996 welfare benefits had fallen, in real terms, to 51% of what they had been in 1971. with annual cash allowances for a family on AFDC ranging from $1,416 in Mississippi to $6,780 in New York, even in the most genrous states stipends were never enough to allow family to escape from poverty. in 1996, Congress replaced AFDC with TANF( Temporary Assistance to Needy Families). under the new system, the entitlement of poor people to support had been replaced by block grants to the states to run their own welfare programs. the grants are limited to a certain amount of money; if they run out , the states are not required to make additional expenditures. welfare recipients are required to work for pay or to enroll in training programs, and financial support is limited to a lifetime maximum of 5 years. this shift in policy has been controversial. since the TANF system began, the number of people receiving welfare benefits has declined, but experts disagree about the reasons: is it a growing economy offering more opportunities, the success of the new approach in encouraging welfare recipients to make themselves employab more

Resolved Question: Modern Warfare 2: M4A1 vs. SCAR-H?

So I've been playing the newest release of the Call of Duty series form Infinity Ward Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and I want to know what people prefer the M4A1 Assault Tactical All Purpose Rifle or the Scar-H Offensive Maneuver All Purpose Rifle. Now here are little stats of each from my experience. M4A1 Carbine Semi-Automatic Rifle Good from Medium-Long Range Damage- Sufficiently Good [Takes about 8-12 bullets with stopping power] Fire Rate- Very fast I can usually shoot a whole clip in a second or two if I hold down the trigger Accuracy: ADS- Slightly Moves when I shoot repeatedly Hip Fire- Slight difference when not shooting to shooting Mobility- Turns good along with aiming good without Sleight of Hand Pro Range- Short [Moderate] Medium [Excellent] Long [Fairly Good] Overall a very good weapon Reload is pretty nice even without sleight of hand perk Scar-H A Semi-Automatic Rifle good from medium-long range Damage- Very High [Only takes about 2-5 bullets with stopping power] Fire Rate- A little on the slow side but fair Accuracy: ADS- Lots of recoil but has a very nice iron sight which makes up for it Hip Fire- Dramatic Change when not shooting to shooting Mobility- Same with the M4 its easily turn able and run is the same Range- short [Very good] Medium [At its best] Long [Also Very good] Overall a Great weapon alongside the M4A1 I use both equally Okay so now for my question. I want to know which you prefer if you don’t prefer any of them then suggest a better gun besides the ACRE, M16, or Ak-47 Since you must achieve somewhat a high level to acquire these. If you don't prefer any assault rifles then tell me your favorite gun looking forward to your answers guy! :) How to be chosen as best answer: 1. prefer one you may use. 2. tell me your favorite gun on the game. more

Voting Question: memoir essay concluding paragraph / editing help?

i need to write a memoir for a school essay. i have the memoir part, but the assignment also requires an epiphany like experience...to show that we have learnt something. please help I remember being five years old, playing in a playground somewhere. I couldn’t tell you where though. When you’re a child, you don’t see the area around the swings, slides and flying fox, your mind only sees fun. I do however, remember who I was with. My mother stood on the grass with another woman. I can’t remember her first name – I only knew her as Mrs. Coverdale – but I do remember her children’s’ names. Zach, aged two, stood at her feet, reaching up to her, begging to play with his sister. But Stephanie was with me. We were big kids now, allowed to explore the playground by ourselves. Stephanie was just like me, similar in so many ways. We were both five years old, we went to the same church and even shared a fondness for Barbie dolls. We were typical little girls. There was one difference between us though, I was healthy. Stephanie had a brain tumour. At the time I hardly understood. I don’t think Stephanie fully understood either. She was just four when she was diagnosed. Another memory I have of Stephanie is playing at her house in Cobourg. We were probably still five and no doubt playing with her many babies. The two of us were just playing together like any other children of our age. Stephanie was probably undergoing some form of chemotherapy, although I can’t remember how ill she was at this point or if her hair had fallen out yet. Again, as a child, I only saw a playmate and a friend, not a very sick little girl. A little girl who wouldn’t be able to play for much longer. When I was six, I heard a story about Stephanie. Her dad told it at our church. It was Stephanie’s bedtime, and he was tucking her in. As they were reading a story, Stephanie got distracted. She pointed to the space behind her dad and asked if he could see the fairies too. Confused, he looked, but couldn’t see anything. Mr. Coverdale never knew if these fairies were just a part of his daughter’s imagination as a six year old, but Stephanie died soon after, so it was believed that perhaps the fairies weren’t fairies at all, but that they were angels instead. I don’t remember how I was told about her death; how does anyone tell a six year old that her best friend had just died, even if the death had been predicted? I also don’t know how I reacted. Stephanie had two brothers when she died; Zach and Angus. Angus was just a baby. How would Stephanie’s parents tell Zach about his sister’s death? Or Angus, when he was old enough to understand he had an older sister he would never truly know? I only remember a few parts about the funeral. It was in a big church, I wore a dress, I sat still the whole time, some candles were lit and a video played. In the video – taken on her sixth birthday, only a short time before her death, - Stephanie was just being a little girl. She was smiling, her head covered in wispy strands of thin, brown hair. She was alive. Although I didn’t understand much about funerals – this was my very first – I knew what the little white box was at the front of the church. It was a casket, and I knew Stephanie lay in it. I knew she wasn’t alive in there either. I knew Stephanie was gone. I couldn’t play with her anymore or see her every Sunday. And for that, I cried. After the service, we lined the street to bid Stephanie farewell. Each person was given a pink balloon and at the same time we released them. 450 balloons rose into the blue October sky. At the time I remember wishing I’d put a note to Stephanie in my balloon, so she could read it in heaven.Thank you for your help with editing. i didnt really have an epiphany with this memoir but it's part of the assignment. I go to a christian school and my teacher is quite religous. i like your ideas for the epiphany. i really had no idea where to go with it, so thanks more

Voting Question: What kind of fit did I experience? Confused!!?

What has happened to me? Yesterday something really odd happened. In the morning I had these weird sensations. My head and neck felt tingly and numb at the same time.It was like I was going to faint. I was really freaking out. Later on in the day I got into an argument with my dad. I was outside on the road near my car. I got into my car to leave. He was coming after me to stop me from leaving. While I was in the driver seat my eyes kept rolling back like I was about to faint. My mum got me out to help cool the situation and I collapsed. This is the weird part. My body went into this fit where I was just shaking uncontrollably. I wasnt aware of what was happening as it felt like I was in a different state of mind, but when I was coming to myself for a split second during the duration ( I think it lasted a minute!) I was aware of my body jolting in such a way. Then she got me up and my legs were still shaking. I went inside to drink water.I felt really exhausted and numb. Another odd point is the feelings I had during the day before the actual shaking thing I felt like I was going to enter a shaking fit. It was like my body was tensed and had to release. Which I do not know how that happens when you've never experienced such a thing. This morning as soon as I awoke I was feeling the same as I did yesterday. My head just really hurts and I feel my head is numb. I have been on the computer and all of a sudden my arms have started feeling weird. Its like I am not attached to my arms, it looks like a corpse to me. Because I dont feel attached Im not moving it which at the same time is making it look lifeless even more. Its like two arms thrown on the table and Im staring at it. My sister said to me this morning that yesterday I looked really freaky like I was having a fit. I also thought maybe it happened from anxiety, but Ive been in situations (accidents or other stressful situations) where from fear or anxiety I have been shaking or faintedd but in a normal way, like any other person would. This was full on my whole body. Ive only pointed this out to outline that Ive been in worse situations and my body hasnt reacted in such a way. I wasnt crying or hyperventilating. It wasnt an argument directly involving me either, I wanted to take my sister away because she was in the argument. I dont have any medical history of any diseases or illnesses.I don't drink, smoke or take any drugs. And for the past week I have felt really tired like I could sleep all day. Please help me. more

Resolved Question: Is there a way to get social serivces involved with a severely anorexic co-worker?

I work with a 56-57 year old woman who is severely anorexic. She is aproximately 5'2 and I am being completely serious when I say she cannot way more than 75 lbs--and most likely ways slightly less. I am younger and started with this company 3 years ago (she has been there over 20) and during this time she has pretty much lost contact with her entire family because of this disease. Other long time employees say she has been anorexic (though never this bad) as long as they can remember. When I started, she was obviously very underweight, and probably weighed 85 lbs. Though she is usually covered up, I've caught glimpses of her arms and collar bone and what you see is like looking at a picture of a holocaust victim. She lives about a mile from work and walks everywhere. Every single day since I've worked there she walks for about 50 minutes during lunch. Pretty much the only thing I've ever seen her eat in 3 years is a yougert after her lunch walks and a diet soda at 10 am sharp. Other than that-- quite literally I've seen her eat 1 single scrambled egg on one occasion and a few bites of toast on another--both were during special office meetings hosted at restraunts. What has really been signifigant and causes great alarm as of late is that her husband of close to 20 years left her last year and moved across the country because of her refusal to try to get better, and now she lives all by herself. Her daughter (who lives in another state) has in the past few months finally come to a breaking point with the situation and has had to stop speaking with her and won't allow her contact with her grandaughter (entirely because of her disease)--and she still refuses to seek treatment. She will acknowledge she has a problem, but in the same breath talk about how healthy she is. Slowly she is getting worse and worse--It is truly the most horrific and disturbing thing I've ever had to experience in the work place. I am convinced I will never meet someone like this ever again in my life. Recently she had to get taken the the ER because of a shingles outbreak and the doctors released her! It truly seems that she is to the point now that she cannot make sound mental decisions for herself and I would think that the state should be able to step in and force her into treatment. She is committing a slow suicide and no one seems to be doing anything about it! I've spoken with my supervisor- and she has escalated it to the higher ups, and apparently there is nothing the company can do unless she has a medical emergency on work property. Everyone in our office is at their witts end with the situation. She looks like a corpse walking-- I mean she honestly makes Karen Carpenter look of normal weight!! Any suggestions on who I can contact or what would be some appropiate steps to take? more

Resolved Question: Sims 3 and Windows 7?

I was going to buy and download Sims 3 from the EA Store and underneath where you go to checkout they have a thing that says "For information regarding EA Download Manager's compatibility with Windows 7, please click here." Resolved Question: What do you think? What breed or mixes fits this. Lots of detail :)?

When you read this, there will be a lot of information on what I plan to do with my life in the future and how I will fit my new little pup in. Any advice on training, breeds, or anything else is welcome. Please no rude answers. Thank you. :) I will tell you about my life style. I live in a tailor, and if we clean it up before summer, I think it will be ready for a dog to live in. It is a little crowded, but it should be straitened out soon. When I am home, I will most likely be gone and exercising with my dog until dark. I will take it to the park, exercise, settle down, then train it to do some things. I want to train them over just the obedience. I want to teach them tricks such as placing a dog treat on their nose, let them wait until I give them the signal to flip it up,then catch it in it's mouth. Or letting them search out things I have berried, something like search and rescue. I am saving up for a puppy now. I plan on getting one this summer. I will get my car sometime around then and will begin my exercise program I have conducted for myself. I will be running every other day and biking every other day. The week ends will be free. I also plan to train my pup to be house trained. He will be living in an apartment once I move. During school (the coming year I'll be a senior) I will be gone for 8 hours a day. I think if I train it during the summer, it should be fine. It will be about 3 months old by then. Is this old enough if I get a medium or smaller sized dog? I am also doing this work release program during school also, so money shouldn't be a problem. The 8 hours won't change either. Also, during school, I am doing this program for emergency services, so after high school, I will no longer need any more education. I am working to be a firefighter. I barely have any classes needed for next year, just two semester classes (government and Psychology). Versailles is 4 blocks and work release is two. I will have two extra spaces for a semester class. After my senior year, that summer I will plan on moving into an apartment and accomplishing my career. College is not an option. I want to get a pup that is lovable and will protect me when needed. I want one that will be my buddy and doesn't get bored easily as long as he has toys to stimulate his mind and some treat toy things too. The ones that take for ever to get a treat out of the ball. I love the breeds identical to Shepherds, Collies, and Spitz. I love the fluffy ones (They usually turn out to have two layered coats). I do not totally get a dog by it's looks, but the characteristics come with these looks that I admire. I want a list of dog breeds that can live in an apartment with no problem as long as it gets daily exercise. I have done a lot of research, but I want your first hand experience on the breeds. I am open to any medium sized breed or any small breed that fits this life style (30 - 60 lbs). I will have a yard for the pup for about a year or so until I move into an apartment with no yard. It will still continue to get it's exercise though. I want to prepare my new pup. So I think after the summer, I will know what to expect. Once I get my car, I'll be checking into the fire station and gathering information as well as on the computer if the firefighter thing doesn't work out. My pup will be my little companion. I want to do something with human rescue, so that way I can use my dog to sniff'm out and I won't have to get rid of it, which I would never do. I want to do something to save people's lives. What do you think I should do? I am not interested in anything medical, and if I have to continue math, I can not do math. I didn't pass Algebra II and therefore would conclude that me passing is not an option, unless I don't have to take math. Then again, if I do get a dog, it will mean I am not going to college, but only a training program that will prepare me. Which is perfectly fine with me. I know what a dog need. Its daily exercise, food, water, attention, toys, ETC. I will have time for it. I don't plan to do a lot of social thing because I know I will most likely not have the time with my exercise program. I want to get in shape because I will have to be fit for my job. I don't want to work as a waitress all my life and this year I have been more serious about being a firefighter and that is why I am trying to see what I need to do before I graduate. As I do this, I will have my little puppy buddy with me and it will be like my best friend. I get along with animals quite well; I have been around dogs all of my life and non of ours died of disease, then again we never had a pure breed. They only ever got their rabies shot and de-worming. I don't recall my parents giving them amy other shots and they are perfectly fine. :) My pup will come first before any other arrangements besides school. I want a good paying job that I enjoy. I want something that will pay me over $40,000 a year. I will most likely have no p more

Resolved Question: Why did bush ask for 440 Billion in home loans to people who could not afford it?

In 2002, why did Bush ask his fannie mae appointees to "make 440 BILLION in subprime loans to minorities"? I mean, if you loan a bottle of liquor to a homeless drunk and you don't get paid back, who do you blame. LOL Here is the video...go to the 4 minute mark to hear him say it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNqQx7sjoS8 Here is the offical white house text of that speech he gave in atlanta on june 17, 2002. http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2002/06/20020617-2.html Here is the offical white house fact sheet: http://georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov/news/releases/2002/06/20020617.html Bush said "...That's why I've challenged the industry leaders all across the country to get after it for this goal, to stay focused, to make sure that we achieve a more secure America, by achieving the goal of 5.5 million new minority home owners. In fact, bush's top 2 banking appointees have stated that the CRA - community investment act has had absoutely nothing to do with the banking crisis. Bernanke: Experience "runs counter to the charge that CRA was at the root of, or otherwise contributed in any substantive way to, the current mortgage difficulties." In a November 25, 2008, letter, Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke stated: "Our own experience with CRA over more than 30 years and recent analysis of available data, including data on subprime loan performance, runs counter to the charge that CRA was at the root of, or otherwise contributed in any substantive way to, the current mortgage difficulties." Most subprime mortgages not issued by institutions under CRA. In a paper published on the website of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Michigan law professor Michael Barr stated that as of 2005: "Only 25 percent of subprime loans were made by banks and thrifts, and the Federal Reserve reports that only six percent of subprime loans were CRA-eligible." Similarly, a 2008 study by a law firm specializing in CRA compliance estimated that in the 15 most populous metropolitan areas, 84.3 percent of subprime loans in 2006 were made by financial institutions not governed by the CRA. more

Voting Question: My cat is having urinary/poop problems?

When we my cat spayed, they said she might have a urinary tract infection, and we went to the vet who said that the blood that was released during the surgical proedure could be only because of stress. It's been a month since her spay, and all of a sudden her poop has began to smell VERY bad. It's horrible, and today i noticed she went to the bathroom about 2-3 times in 20 minutes. I was very surprised to hear that she might have UTI, because there were NO signs. But now I am finding werid things in her poop like strings..i dont know if that's from food she's found on the floor or not. She is up to date on her shots, and has been checked for pareasites. We have a closed litter box, use arm and hammer litter, and give her hills science diet dry food (and this has never happened before). She does like human food like cheese and ice cream and sometimes we give her some, but this has NEVER happened. I don't want to go to the vet a second time because it really didn't help the last time, all it does is suck money out of my pocket. Can someone tell me wat is wrong with her from experience. I am very worried about her. Thank YouAlso, I don't know if this is related, but on her belly, the area is pink. I don't know if this is natural because when i went to the vet, she said it might be a bruise. It's fading, but there are weird little brown dots on her belly too.... more

Resolved Question: understanding poems? can someone help?

Love is not all: it is not meat nor drink Nor Slumber nor a roof against the rain; Nor yet a floating spar to men that sink And rise and sink and rise and sink again; Love can not fill the thickened lunch with breath, Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone; Yet many a man is making friends with death Even as I speak, for lack of love alone. It well may be that in a difficult hour, Pinned down by pain in moaning for release, Or nagged by want past resolution's power, I might be driven to sell your love for peace, Or trade the memory of this night for food. It well may be. I do not think I would. ~ "Love Is Not All" Edna St. Vincent Millay somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond any experience, your eyes have their silence: in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me, or which i cannot touch because they are too near your slightest look easily will unclose me though i have closed myself as fingers, you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens (touching skilfully, mysteriously)her first rose or if your wish be to close me, i and my life will shut very beautifully ,suddenly, as when the heart of this flower imagines the snow carefully everywhere descending; nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals the power of your intense fragility:whose texture compels me with the color of its countries, rendering death and forever with each breathing (i do not know what it is about you that closes and opens;only something in me understands the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses) nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands ~ E.E. Resolved Question: What dog breed, or mixed breed fits me? Includes lots of detail. :)?

I will tell you about my life style. I am saving up for a puppy. I plan on getting one this summer. I will get my car sometime around then and will begin my exercise program I have conducted for myself. I will be running every other day and biking every other day. The week ends will be free. I plan to train my pup during the summer to be house trained. During school (the coming year I'll be a senior) I will be gone for 8 hours a day. I think if I train it, it should be fine. It will be about 3 months old by then. Is this old enough if I get a medium or small sized dog? I am also doing this work release program during school also, so money shouldn't be a problem. The 8 hours won't change. I want to get a pup that is lovable and will protect me when needed. I want one that will be my buddy and doesn't get bored easily as long as he has toys to stimulate his mind and some treat toy things too. The ones that take for ever to get a treat out of the ball. I want a list of dog breeds that can live in an apartment with no problem as long as it gets daily exercise and does not drool. I have done a lot of research, but I want your first hand experience on the breeds. I am open to any medium sized breed or any small breed that fits this life style. I will have a yard for the pup for about a year or so until I move. I am looking to find a puppy that is only up to $400. I am not paying thousands. I will watch out for puppy mills also because that is just wrong and I refuse to support :'( I know I need to plan on if I am going to college and what not, and I am, but if I don't go to college, then I will be getting an apartment and want to prepare it. So I think after the summer, I will know what to expect. Once I get my car, I'll be checking into the fire station and gathering information as well as on the computer if the firefighter thing doesn't work out. My pup will be my little companion. I want to do something with human rescue, so that way I can use my dog to sniff'm out and I won't have to get rid of it which I would never do. I want to something to save people's lives. I know what a dog need. Its daily exercise, food, water, attention, toys, ect. I will have time for it. I don't plan to do a lot of social thing because I know I will most likely not have the time with my exercise program. I want to get in shape because I will have to be fit for my job. My dog will be like my best friend, so no worries with not caring for it and letting it get ill. I have been around dogs all of my life and non of ours died of disease, then again we never had a pure breed. My pup will come first before any other arrangements besides school. I want a good paying job that I enjoy. I want something that will pay me over $40,000 a year. I looked into animal jobs, but they usually don't get that much and some need college. Anything to do with animals of human services, I am well open to. Any suggestions? Than you so much for trying to understand. I hope this isn't too much. :)yes I plan on getting it's shots and what not. I do plan to get it fixed. more

Resolved Question: Brita filter - black unfamiliar substance was released into water similar to dissolved black ink - what is it?

I have been using Brita filter for the last 15 years and I am very familiar with pitcher type filters. Usually small carbon participles are released free during soaking or regular operation. The last time it was very much different - black unfamiliar substance was released into water making effect similar to when you dissolve black ink. This faulty filter is part of 5-filters package I bought at Costco last year. Brita customer service was not really helpful, just standard confirmation that the their filters are safe and they have good quality process. However they send me new replacement filter but refused further investigation. Has anybody had similar experience? Where I can test the faulty filter to find out what is that black substance and if it could be unwelcome addition to the drinking water? more

Resolved Question: Should I tell my wife of 18 years about my bi experience with my best friend when we were 16 y/o?

It happened when we were out camping alone. Since we were teens, our hormones were racing and one thing let to another. He put my hand on his P and told me since I now have touched it, that I went that far that I can now suck it. I will be honest, I did and I enjoyed it at the time but I still liked women. It was just a release thing for us two at the time. This went on for two years and probably only 6 times per year. We are both married now and both have never talked about it again. From what I know, it is common for teens to experiment like this. I had a girlfriend who confessed this to me about her and one of her friends when they were teens. Please I only want to hear from the wives and I need some serious and honest answers because I am struggling with this. It is the only thing I ever kept from my wife (for obvious reasons). I am 43 now and I have this strong need to come clean. Should I tell her? Should I just let it stay buried? Could you handle it if your husband told? Would you want to know? Thanks in advance for all of your help today.I want to tell her because we have such a strong bond and strong marriage. We are best friends and lovers. We both share everything with each other and this is the only thing I held out. That's why i am struggling. I almost feel guilty for not telling herWow, Yahoo answers really helped me today. I read all of your answers and you are correct, I should not tell her. I needed other wives to guide me on this one and you all guided me greatly. Often times, we see things with blinders on. You are all correct, I do not need to tell her and plant that irrelevant seed in her head. I really want to thank you all for your honest opinions. You all helped me greatly. Thank You so much.ps: when i read one that said why do you want to "punish" your wife......that statement really hit home with me. I do not wish to punish my wife and I will keep take my secret to my grave. more

Voting Question: Can some edit Short response on Araby by James Joyce(dont have to have read the story)?

Personal Response on “Araby” On the surface the religious symbols used in the story,”Araby”, may seem outdated and not relevant to the western world I currently live in.By digging deeper within myself and the story, I realized that it strikes several chords with my past. I have chosen three religious examples from the story that I can relate to from my past. My experience at my old religious school, my religious state over the years, and the confusion of what to prioritize over what can be related to some religious instances that I found while investigating “Araby”. Back home, my old religious school was STRICT in the simplest of words. I had to be on my supreme behavior at all times or else some severe punishment was imminent. My days use to go by typically in me staring at the clock. I always wanted to know when I will be set free. A similar feeling can be observed because of the narrator using the word “free” en route to describing the release of the children from the Christian Brothers School. When I was set “free”, I felt a sense of freedom, and independence. I could attempt many things then that I wouldn’t even have the nerve of thinking while still in school. The state of priest in his religion can be compared to my state in my religion from my first couple of years in Canada. The narrator was implying that the priest was drifting away from his religion. This was evident by his will and the books he had in his library that the narrator describes. I could relate this to my first few years in Canada. I was so amazed by things here that I started to drift slowly but constantly away from my religion. No one was forcing anything upon me, I had the ultimate freedom. This caused me to frequently miss prayers, and just generally looks for materialistic things rather than follow what I was taught all along. The last common religious instance I found in the story that I can relate to was Prioritizing. Prioritizing one thing over another was a very important phase in my life. There are many occurrences in the story where the narrator shows the boy to be chaotic and cannot decide on what to prioritize higher, his love or his religion. I went through the identical sort of situation a while ago. I had these special feelings for a girl which were more complex than one’s feelings for a normal friend of the opposite sex. I had to make a decision of what I valued more in life and thus prioritizing love and my religion. The reason that this prioritization process had to occur was because in my religion, affection towards a stranger cannot coincide with other values if you are to be considered a devout follower which I consider myself as being. By going deeper into the story and my past, I was able to relate these three instances in my past to the story “Araby”. James Joyce uses many religious symbols that may go unnoticed until read thoroughly. “Araby” contains many instances to what we all can relate to. The three I found that I can relate to were; Prioritization of one thing over another, my life at my religious school, and my transformation of how I practiced my religion when I first came to Canada. more

Resolved Question: Have you tried the Heavy Rain demo yet?

If you haven't do so. This game is awesome. I thought it was gonna be crap. After watching all the previews it looked liked senseless button pressing and that there was little to no gameplay at all. But was I fricking wrong! Heavy Rain is already one of the best games of 2010! The fight scene in the first part was kick ass. It's something I never experienced before. The part with the porostitue and the way you had to get her to spill the info. Also the second part as the detective and you had to find the dead body. All in all this is game where it is very interactive. Everything you do you have to control and I like that. I also like how we control the cut scenes. Really I know all opinions will differ but it's hard for me to imagine that anyone would not want to get this game. Anyway this question here is when is the release date? more

Resolved Question: Am I going insane? Do I have Schizophrenia?

I would say 50% of the male family members on my father side have suffered from Schizophrenia. I even have a distant cousin who committed suicide by jumping off a building because he contacted the spirit world and he accidentally released a hell spirit that kept stalking him. I don't believe in demons or the supernatural, I believe in Science and math so I never believed that it could happen to me. I am 21 but recently I have been having hallucinations, the thing about this is I hallucinate the every mundane things I do in everyday life. It feels so real that I am scared. When the hallucination ends I only realize that the things I experienced are not real because I feel that I have suddenly teleported. Lets say I hallucinated that I went into my bathroom, then the hallucination ends and I am in my bed. This is the only way that I can tell whether I hallucinated or not, i have noticed clues to help me figure out when I am hallucinating or not since the clocks i view when i hallucinate move erratically and the people I meet in my hallucinations act cold and distant. I do not want to see a shrink because I don't want other people to know, I have heard that some people like John Nash from a beautiful mind was able to overcome this by himself. So my questions is this Is this nothing to be afraid of? Will this go away after awhile if i just ignore it? Since I understand it, will it stop happening? since you can't be insane if you know that you are insane? more

Resolved Question: Can a fish's poop weigh itself down?

Just wondering if a fish's poop can weigh it's body down because i have a bronze shubunkin crossed with an orange comet, it is a male that is probably about 4 months (was one of the larger young from the first batch my fish laid) his scales are fine, none of the scales are missing and they don't look dull, they are actually still very shiny and goldfish bronze, his eyes don't seem like they're bulging out, his stomach isn't very large (looks normal sized), he is about 3cm in length, by the looks of it, he doesn't seem to be suffering from any disease, no signs of fungus or sores or spots etc. But when he is swimming, his body is a bit tilted and he is always near the surface. All his sibblings who are all much smaller than him look perfectly healthy (all the unhealthy ones have been removed and have been released into my pond where their parents are), and he actually looks healthy himself. But at the moment he has a long trail of poop, and so i'm really just wondering if its the weight of the poop that may be causing him to kind of sink, and he isn't really gasping for air either. He just seems perfectly normal but just not as energetic as he used to be. I would really appreciate it if you don't post any silly comments, i am really actually seeking for some help from fish breeders that have years of experience or a vets or know fish extremely well. It is also the first time for me to experience raising young fry and hatching fish eggs, so far a few of them i have hatched has already survived for over 3 months. more

Resolved Question: Hi does Obama cares about the American people safety & against terrorism?

Hi the man he release prisoners in Gitmo & cuts U.S. missiles defense. A former Gitmo prisoner he said the press that he wants vengeance against the U.S.. Obama he also didn't do nothing about the Christmas-terrorist bomber. He is making the U.S. easy target & "weak". What else is he going to do next? Give away land to the Native Americans? It is very shocking that he is a antichrist because orders to cover up the Jesus Christ symbol & rejects to put his left hand on the bible when he gives his 2nd oath. I believe that with his 2 yrs of U.S. Senate & never served in the U.S. military, he doesn't know what he is doing & it scares me. President Obama he never experience of life & death situation except sending more U.S. troops to Afghanistan & we have to face fact that he can't beat the Taliban & Al-Qaida organization. I only have to respect to Hillary Clinton & Joe Biden because they have more political experience & their good American politicians. Nobody is saying that Senator McCain has the edge. What do you think? Thanks. more

Voting Question: Paint smell in bathroom after showering?

I live in NYC on the 9th floor of a building built in the 60s. Since I moved in a month ago, the bathroom smells up like paint every time I shower. It seems to be from the moisture in the bathroom and steam hitting the ceiling and causing the ceiling paint to get wet/soft and exude the smell or release the chemicals. There is no exhaust fan or window in the room so that doesn't help. I have to put a stand alone fan in there after showering to air it out. I've read online that vinegar, onions, and things like that can help get rid of the paint smell but I think that's just for when a room is initially painted? I'm not sure those things will help my situation since the catalyst is the hot water from the shower. Also, the room was painted a month before I moved in and no one lived here, so it had plenty of time to dry. I've contacted the building management but they can't seem to fix it. They are EXTREMELY difficult to work with and get in touch with (I've been trying for a month to get them to acknowledge and fix this to no avail). They came in and did a repair to the ceiling and repainted this week, but I guess they just used the same exact paint as before because it didn't help. From looking online so far I can't find an answer to exactly how to fix this. So it seems it's not an easy issue to resolve. It seems the wrong paint was used or cheap paint was used, as mentioned. But I'm not sure what the right paint primer or moister protector is and what's the exact process to fix it (i.e. do I need to scrape the ceiling entirely if I decide to just repaint myself with the right paint?). I need to know exactly how to fix this or else I need to move out because I can't deal with the smell. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, any advice on how exactly to resolve the smell once and for all? Can you recommend the steps needed to fix and what products to use, specifically please? Is the smell from the paint fumes (or whatever it is) harmful? I feel it must be and that's another reason I'm so desperate. I can ask the building for another unit, or should I just move out? At this point that's what I feel is my only option.@me, thanks for the response and I can try that to see if it works. I have also read a lot about this BIN primer. Would you suggest I try that if I still cannot get it to dry? more
